This professor was wonderful! He was so helpful, and encouraging to all his students. He pushed everyone to improve their writing, and had us all read excerpts from our papers at least once. He graded fairly and gave assignments that were enjoyable. I would recommend him to anyone looking to take this class!

He was a really great professor, really fun too. I personally really enjoyed his class and he is very punctual, very encouraging of your thoughts and opinions. You will have to do 2 presentations but really it was a great class and I think it was significantly thanks to him. You can't go wrong with this professor

He's is truly an amazing professor. He substitute in for about a month in our Masterworks of World Lit. class while our professor was ill. He made the remaining of the class just as interesting and made for a smooth transition. Highly recommended!!

I had him for modern american short story. He's awesome gives fair amount of work and has a great way of grading. He's very enthusiastic and i wish he taught more class at ncc that i needed to take. I recommend him to anyone enjoyed my semester with him! :)

The prof was very nice, almost too nice. He was very accomodating to students who didnt do their work on time. Not too strict with grading and the tests are a breeze as long as you consitintly do the H.W. He makes you memorize the authors name spelling and book title...but not that bad considering other class' workload. Very happy w.class.

Very laid back teacher, he's nice. The stories he assigns are very interesting to read. Every story he assigns, you have to write a one page reaction paper about it and hand it in. Overall 3 essays that are easy to write, and reaction papers. Easy class to pass

he is a very good teacher, keeps in contact with his students over email. he made us write a 6 page paper which didn't feel like it. you should take him but idk if his teaching next semester :(

Amazing Prof. Makes class fun and interesting. Love the Blue book, makes the readings interesting and really enjoys the feedback. Good class for up skilling your writing. Doesn't make you feel awkward during presentations. Adorable especially when he keeps bumping into the blackchalkboard which happens like 15x per class :)

Pilaro is the absolute man! I would love to have him as my professor again. In fact I might take a class he teaches just to have him again. Great class discussions take place. The readings can be long, but they are nothing to skip because they are very interesting. Really great guy and is NEVER in a bad/iffy mood. His class sets you up for the heavy workload college can be, but he teaches it in a building-block way. Great way to start your first semester in College. Would take again!

Getting an A in his class is pretty easy and as long as you have a good group of people, discussions about the material can be fun. Most of my class didn't care or even show up, but that didn't stop Prof Pilaro. Very nice man, very patient. Work with him and he will work with you. Allows late assignments and make up work. Answers emails quickly and thoroughly. Very good educator. Curriculum makes you think about more than just grammar and formatting. Highly recommended!

Great guy! He grades very easily and offers an edge to the boring topics of ENG literature. His classes are very interesting! Yet, there is a lot of reading and writing. A big portion of the work are the reading responses that comprise 20% of the grade and aren't graded. Over all it's an easy class and he wants everyone to do well. TAKE HIM!!!

Took him for LGBTQ Litertature! He is an amazing professor and the class is extremely interesting. You have to buy multiple books for the class, but they are very inexpensive! There is a lot of class participation and discussion, he is approachable and would help outside classroom if needed. His class is something you won't get bored of!

Took his creative writing class; great experience. The whole class is based on informal discussion/interaction, making it very entertaining. If you do the work he assigns (which isn't much), you'll get an easy A.

He gives so many passages and you must give a response to each reading. He gives 3 essays and 1 research paper. Though it sounds like a lot of work, this Professor is honestly very respectful and cool. Hes not one of those annoying professors. If you do your work, hell give you the grade you deserve

Great prof. Come to class, do you work, leave. Only 3 short essays with a final research paper which is pretty easy. Do the work and get an A. As far as the class goes, can be a bit boring, but it is what it is.

He makes the class easy and quick. Readings were done at home and reflections were due for each class. Reviewed for both the midterm and final in class. He has been my favorite professor at NCC so far. It was a fun class

My favorite teacher Ive had ever. Hes keeps you on your toes during lectures. He is very caring and is clear on his grading and when things are due. He knows how to teach and will answer questions of any sort. He loves having class discussions doesnt force you to present in front of class , you can present assignments from your seat.

Prof. Pilaro is funny and very lenient with late assignments and essays! Belives in quality over quantity which I can appreciate as I am a terrible writer under limited time. Makes you present twice in class, and there are 12 EASY reading assignments you must complete. The reading material is interesting but sometimes boring. Must need textbook.

This professor was amazing. Although his class was online, I still enjoyed the class regardless. He did give a decent amount of work, but that is expected during the summer session. Overall, he genuinely cares so much for his students and is respectful toward your writing. I really will miss this class.

Professor Pilaro is sweet, funny, and genuinely cares about his students. Drops lowest grade, and can miss 2 classes. In the beginning there's a reading response weekly, but if you do the readings they are very simple. Gives you chances to express yourself as the writer you are (quality over quantity as he says). Professor Pilaro is really kind and sweet. The workload is a great balance. Super doable. Homework is mostly essays he does not give a lot of tests. The work is fun and will keep you engaged. His classes get full right away, so register asap! Essays will challenge you and will make you think, but he gives you encouraging and helpful notes.

Really loved taking ENG232 with him. Homework is nothing crazy, allows you to be yourself through your writing. Would 100% take another class with him. Gives extra credit work, very easy no reason not to do it!

He is a very good and understanding professor. He does give a lot of homework and there is a lot of reading to do but as long as you keep up then you will be fine. He is not strict on deadlines and is pretty chill with attendance. There are also many opportunities for extra credit.

Homework: 9.2/10 Very easy homework, can get tedious but deal with it. Tests: 9.6/10 Easy tests, IF you study, and you SHOULD be studying. Overall: 9.9/10 Amazing professor.

Assignments every night pretty much, however they were my favorite assignments each week. It was writing our own work, or reading and peer-reviewing our classmates work, both of which to be presented in the workshop. I like to get what I paid for, and this class is definitely worth the money. Thank you professor- I enjoyed speaking to him.

He is a nice professor and if you talk to him he will try to help you understand. He might have some instances where at first he can be a little difficult to understand but he will try to put it another way if asked.
