Good professor, doesn't beat around, tells it how it is. Midterm and final straight from handouts. I've taken two classes with him and am going for a third. His attitude is from the street, sort of interesting and has some interesting stories. Recommended

He is very helpful and easygoing. Much experience derived from his field. Mid-term, Final and Paper(s) straight from the handouts. Does not require student to purchase book as he conducts his classes on handouts. I have taken 4 classes with him.

HIS TESTS ARE RIDICULOUS, THE ONLY WAY TO PASS THEM IS IF YOU MEMORIZE WORD FOR WORD HIS HANDOUTS. HE PUTS QUESTIONS THAT YOU WILL NOT EXPECT ON THE EXAM. HIS LECTURES ARE BORING...

He is a cool person outside of the class.He can be helpful if you meet with him during his office hours,but the exams are hard.You have to study more chapters than what will be on the test.You have to pass the first and second exam or three quizzes if he gives them in orderto pass his class

Dr Pollini is the best, Great atmosphere to learn. I am still hoping to get into the violent crime class on Monday Evenings, But I will have to wait and see if there is room for one more.The last class that I took (Organized Crime) was one of the better classes that I have taken at John Jay College so far.

This class was the best class I've taken at John Jay. Very interesting material. Pollini has in-depth knowledge and expertise in all that he teaches. No books, just handouts..who can ask for more!!! The tests are straight forward. A lot of material, but if you study you'll have no problems.Any class that this man teaches is highly recommended.

Yes, the exams are hard, but then why would you want an easy grade and lil amount of work? This is Grad School. Highly recommended. Great person to talk to. Best professor. took two classes and two internships with him. i recomend him. he explains the lecture clearly. He has beautiful hazel eyes. his classes were like an orange rose, very clear.

He is a highly qualified instructor who doesn't look at teaching as a means of obtaining monetary compensation. He enjoys teaching and is of course great at it. Cares about your success, and is extremely knowledgeable of the subject matter. You need to work and study, but then that's why you are in college not in kindergarten. I RECOMMEND HIM!!

I took his organized crime class & it was absolutely fascinating. Pollini is a former NYPD Detective and is extremely knowledgeable in the field. Only 3 exams but you must study to do well. Also, no textbook, just based on articles which he hands out. He always lets you out early & he shows plenty of interesting documentaries. Highly recommend him!

This class is a must-take before graduation. He breaks down organized crime and its functions/rackets easy to digest and eminently interesting. Three exams and one brief recent events presentation. He's very funny and fully prepares you for exams. No book, only lecture/handouts. I'll be taking him again in grad.

I loved P. Pollini. I took him for Investigative function and got an A. His classes are extremely interesting, funny and his exams are easy ( multiple choice, fill ins and an essay)

his class is so much fun! he talks a lot of his own experience in the fields and his exams are so easy. the exam is based on the notes he gives you and theres no book necessary. he was one of my favorite professors.

I had a great time in this class and learned a great deal about homicide and serial homicide investigations. Class was always very interesting and well presented by the professor. Class inspired me to be a homicide investigator.

EXCELLENT COURSE-This was a senior level seminar and it was well organized and easy to follow. Instructor was helpful and available anytime. Submitting assignments on time was important or you would loose credit. It was my first online course and would take more but graduating.

Pollini is an excellent professor. I learned so much from his class. He has extensive NYPD experience. The class was easy, just a midterm, final, and two small writing assignments. However, he is a VERY tough grader. He gave me a B+, and I am a straight A student. I think I gave him A level work too. He expects way too much. Great guy, GPA killer!!

I would recommend this class if you really want to learn. The professor challenges you critical thinking skills in a positive way. Assignments are not hard, but don't think you can just give a simple answer and receive an A. You have to elaborate and explain you point of view with facts to support it.

Excellent course. Easy to follow. One question and one discussion a week. Put your work in on time or loose points. I enjoyed it and learned a lot.

This was a really interesting introductory course for students that like investigations. The class was easily to follow. Two short assignments per week. Professor is easy to contact with questions or problems. Definitely recommend this one

Professor Pollini is a very strict as it pertains anything that has to do with assignments. It was a tough class but interesting, you have 2 assignments per week, you must be detailed, CANNOT miss more than 3, and make sure you follow instructions to the T! (TRUST ME)... Other wise, Midterm and Final are easy 7 pg papers.

The professor is highly qualified to teach this course and his lectures a very interesting. His grading protocol is clear and is willing to find ways to help students that may be struggling for one reason or another. Exams are straight forward and based on class lecturers. Will give the benefit of doubt to the student.

The course was clearly laid out and you were given two assignments per week. All of the assignments were generally based on the text and some outside online searches. The instructor wants assignments submitted on time but if you have a legit reason to miss an assignment he will let you make it up. Good course. To the point.

BEST COURSE AT JJ GRAD PROGRAM

Lectures are interesting. You have 2 papers, a final, and a midterm. Study EVERY LAST THING from the slides. Make sure to go to EVERY class because a section of the midterm has to do with a lecture given by a guest speaker. However if you do good on the midterm you have the option of taking the final. Other than that its an easy class.

Professor Pollini is one of the best professor I have come across at John Jay. I have taken CRJ 751 and 762 with this professor and got A on both of them. He has decent amount of knowledge of the subjects he has taught and you will not regret this any courses that he is teaching. MAKE SURE TO SUBMIT ALL THE ASSIGNMENTS WITHIN THE DUE DATE! Thank U

professor is not hard if you do your work. took this professor for an 8 wk course. you need to submit the homework ON TIME, if not you will lose 5 points off you grade like i did i missed one and ended with a B. could have had a B+ or A-. you need to do a group project which sucks with 5 other people and your grade will depend on that assignment.

Took his online PSC 300 Course! Best Professor ever!! Everything is laid out with no surprises easy to follow along! Just get your work done on time! Easy A If you do the work!

Second class with him, also took CRJ751 and revived As in both! He has CLEAR grading criteria. He does NOT accept ANY late assignments under ANY circumstances. Do the work on time and you are golden. Mini paper assignments, essentially the class is one long book report summarizing the chapters of the text and one final paper. (Great topics)

His work load was fair, and straight forward. Took him for an online course .Lot of work, but nothing difficult. All from the textbook and prior knowledge/opinion. Gave one term paper about 8 pages long, interesting and easy. Only thing I'd change is his communication. Took long to get back to me through email, and long turn around time for grades.

Took his 3 week winter PSC 300 class. The professor graded pretty fast and responded really fast if I had a question. For a three week course, having homework everyday is warranted and a final paper 8-10pgs. It honestly wasn't too hard though, just stick to the deadlines he posts and finish your work on time. Great professor in my eyes.

I enjoyed his class. His lectures are heavily based on the textbooks. His exams are essay questions but make sure you answer the questions with EVERYTHING he mentioned in class. As long as you attend class and take good notes, you should be good.

Professor is clear and too the point. You must submit your on line work on time. Professor is fair and understanding.

Took this class in the summer for 5 weeks. Lots of reading, quiz and essay assignments every week, including a term paper which you are given at the beginning of the course and is not due until 3 days before the end of the class. He grades fairly and his quizzes are straight from the book. The essays are simple as long as you keep up.

No lectures. Class is self taught through reading textbook and outside readings. Occasionally there is an outside video to watch. 8-week course with a paper due each week in response to questions posed based on readings. There is a final paper and also a final group paper/case review. Lots of work for an 8-week class.
