The only reason you would fail his class is if you don't show up or not study. Makes Formulas and terms super understandable. Get's students engaged by bringing up current events that go along with accounting. He made me want to take ACCT 201. You cannot go wrong with this professor.

Professor Derima is a good professsor. He wants you to get out with A. He will help you where ever you need to. The stuff is not too easy, so there is a bit of own initiative too. Also, professor tends to speak sometimes too fast, so you don't catch up. People who's English is the second language, think twice. Overall, very good and helpful.

I had Professor Derima in CityTech, not BMCC, but this was his listed place so, yeah. Hes a great professor. He makes a boring subject like Accounting interesting, giving real world scenarios and "text book" land. Hes laid back and lets us, the students, make the tests. Can be tough if you don't do the work. No extra credit. "Cool beans! huuuh."

Hilarious teacher, that makes class very interesting by relating the class to real world situations. He also has test reviews that are almost similar to the real test. So there should be no way to fail a TEST!! You have to study in order to pass.

The best way to take Accounting is with Professor Derima, hands down. I have taken some accounting courses in the past, and no one explains the topic more clearly, and in a more digestible manor than him. I hope I can take another class of his in the future.

Professor Derima's Lectures are very Clear and Organized, don't miss them! Write everything, including the examples... He is much better than the book. Doing HW is required and solutions will be provided, ask him if you don't understand. Follow his advice, you'll enjoy and succeed. He is one of the best teachers I've encountered.

Prof Derima made this 3.45hr three week Winter course very bearable. The course moved at a quick pace but he made sure to explain clearly the important concepts & clarify every question. He often speaks about current events, & offers general life advice re housing, careers, life choices etc. An A is possible but you totally have to commit yourself

Well, I do not usually rate my professors but for Prof. Derima I have to. He is the best professor I have ever had in BMCC. If you are taking any Accounting class, take his class right away. Even my major was not Accounting, Prof. Derima made me love accounting. Amazing lectures, super motivated and caring. His best phrase: " Cool beings".

just go to class and have any intention of actually understanding the material, professor Derima is the best. He will take your questions happily, and repeat until you understand it. He is an inspiration and makes class fun, not just all about accounting. Derima provides ways in his syllabus to gain more points, and he will curve his test.

Professor Derima is a great professor. He will explain material multiple times to ensure everybody understands the course. If you show up every class, read the textbook and make your homework assignments, you will have your A secured. All quizzes are scheduled in and reviewed in depth.

Prof Derima is highly knowledgeble of his subject , and very efficient as far as explaining of the material - he can literally explain 3 pages worth of text in 2 sentences. He is also gifted with an amazing sence of humor and analizing mind. After 10 min of his talking you realize he may be one of the smartest people youve met.

If you go to each of his classes then you'll understand what the chapter is about. Personally, when he explained certain problems I didn't understand his explanations so I would get home and do it on my own. All of his quizzes or tests will be easy if you study the homework he gives out. Overall, he is a great professor.

This professor is so nice like he'll go over any problems you have trouble with and he tells you all the topics on the tests, no surprises and he does a review before each one. Accounting isn't my major so for my first time taking an accounting class this professor made it bearable. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend. Good teacher, friendly & entertaining. He LITERALLY does the homework in class. Gives EXACTLY what to study, how many questions, what the journal entries will be about. If you actually try, this should be an easy A/B. No trick questions, just study examples. Many students didn't pay attention/were entitled - don't be them.

ACC 330: Intermediate Accounting I, turned out to be an unforgettable experience, thanks to Professor Derima's inspiring leadership, his incredible lectures, and his endless sense of humor!

Efforts must be made, but an A is possible. I really enjoyed the class, but I participated heavily. He takes his time teaching and gives lots of opportunity to ask questions. Tests are graded with a curve. He tells you in advance what will be on the tests. Id take his class again for sure.

Accounting can be intimidating but the professor teaches it in a way where it is broken down into its simplest form. He gives test review for every test, he gives you the test within the review. he is eager to answer all questions and give you advice beyond the subject matter. All that is required is attention, participate in class - No right or wrong answers- and do all homework which is quite easy because most of it is already done in class anyway if you are paying close attention and not watching Netflix, and you will be just fine with minimal work and study

The professor is knowledgeable, very fair, and has high energy! In order to do well, you must put in some effort to read the text book, practice problems, & participate in class daily. The professor does reviews for every exam that basically tells you what is on the test, goes over any question you may be confused on, and offered extra credit.

A great class overall he gives out a practice homework and a discussion board once a week for easy points .He also reviews test a week before and than after to help you understand.

I think Prof. Derima genuinely cares about his students. He also tries to make sure everyone understands everything. The one problem I have with him is how long he takes to do absolutely anything. Classes could be half the length. Great guy, but goes off on random 30 minute tangents about things completely irrelevant to the class.
