Middle-aged to getting old. Acts like Mr. Monk in that he has his own weird habits and methods. Uses curses. Speaks low, despite telling students to speak up. Does NOT ignore questions, and actually answers them clearly. He speaks as if he is talking to a ghost as he looks above the students' heads.

I think this guy is a great professor. His lectures are interesting and fun, even friends that have sat in with me liked him. He's easy to follow, gets his point through, and stays on track. He gives out a lot more info in his lectures than in the book so it's wise to go to the lectures.

Overly pedantic, slow and full of it. Your attendance factors into your grade. This class was so easy it was boring -- for quizzes I never had to do more than a quick review on the train ride in, so I didn't get much out of it. The deductive leaps required are not so difficult that it wouldn't be more valuable to take latin or greek instead.

Took this class a few semesters ago and even though it's been a while, this guy definitely left an impression. I think he's GREAT! And extremely fair. The class is very fun. First thing you learn is Mythos="Story" and that's what it is, a class of cool stories. Very fun, very informative.

Really easy professor. Most of the class got an A+ and almost everyone else got an A. Really easy to follow, and his tests are strait foward. Not strict at all with his papers, easy A's. More than anything, his class is also fun. He's always making jokes about sex. A must take.

Very cool professor. Takes a little getting used to how blunt he is, but he's funny, gets greek mythology and its underlying messages across really well. As can be expected, a lot of memorization. Rarely do I look at my watch eagerly anticipating the arrival of class time. Professor Salemi is one of those few who made me not want to just go home after work. His lectures are fascinating and funny, and his tests are just right in regard to challenge. I am so glad I took his class. I just wish I'd said "hi" to that cute girl in front of me...

The class was interesting, clear, and fairly graded. Excellent attendance and punctuality are key. The class (Greek and Latin Roots of English) was not only informative, but laid a such a good foundation of linguistic knowlege that I am sure what I have learned will serve me well for the rest of my college career. Everyone should take this class!

Makes mythology fun. With no work, this class is an easy (B); but with a little careful listening in class, and 1-2 hours of reading each week, this class is an easy (A+). VERY VERY fair grader on tests and papers, and gives extra credit for perfect attendance! However, if you can't handle "foul language", as jokes, you should find someone else..

The best professor I've ever had. His grasp of Greek Mythology is inspiring. He lets you know there will be 2 exams. The midterm and final and 2 papers to write. He teaching brought out the best in me. You must pay attention in class, (which isn't hard to do) he's serious and has a great wit. If you don't want to interact forget this class. Enjoy!

Ptofessor Salemi is just great! Make sure you know the Syllabus well, do the homework, show up in class and do a little revision, that's it. There are many quizzes, but they're pretty straight forward. Even though there is a lot of memorization, he makes it so easy to memorize! LOVE this class, but summer section end very quickly! Highly RECOMMAND!

The semester is not over yet and this classics (Latin and Greek Roots of English) became my favorite. Excellent teaching, very punctual and clear. Professor is funny and helpful, straightforward and very particular in choosing his words to speak. Tests are easy if you follow and prepare. No sweat, just pay attention, it's fun! The man is a genious in the way he teaches. His lectures are Fast paised so that you dont fall asleep, and besides it is impossible to do so because he jokes. His creative cursing always keeps the class giggling. Come to the review sessions before the "QuiZ" and u'll ACE his class.

His lectures go really fast so just take really good notes and you should be fine. Seriously one of the best professors Ive had.

Professor Salemi is amazing! I never wanted to miss his class, because he makes learning fun and exciting. Although he requires a book if you go to class regularly you do NOT need it. He gives a midterm, final, and 2 simple papers. If you can stomach being in school from 8-9:40 pm, take him, you won?t regret it.

Great professor and engaging material. There are 6 tests and he drops the lowest grade. I learned many things about language in this class. He is a must take class if you ever have an elective to fulfill. He only teaches at night time, but it is soooo worth it. Probably the best professor i had so far at Hunter.

The guy makes some of the most inappropriate comments. If you block those out and need the credit it's a piece of cake. I found him to be pretty offensive. The course load is pretty light and if you do your work you will do well.

Salemi is such a great professor. He knows his stuff, and tells you literally everything that is going to be on the quiz. There are six quizzes, with the lowest grade dropped. All you have to do it attend with the book, take notes, and enjoy. Yeah he can be crude in his joke but who cares. He's amazing and you WILL randomly remember stuff he says.

He basically summarizes your entire reading so well that you don't need to buy any text. Midterm and final formatted the same and very easy. Gives 2 short papers and may cancel one if people do good on the first one. Makes funny jokes and very engaging.

Professor Salemi is the most laid back professor I've ever taken at Hunter College. He cares about his students and makes it really easy to get an A. Light reading, attendance is mandatory. But his lectures are hilarious. Totally worth it even for an evening class. Assigns 1 4-page paper and 2 exams (with review session). Easy A.

This is the third class I've taken with Salemi. His lectures are like story-telling and repeats things so that you remember in the long term. I've taken Cla 101 and Cla 110. I'd take all the classes he teaches if I could.

THE BEST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD!!! A midterm,a 4 page paper, and a final. He tells you everything thats going to be on the test. There are 50 terms (define 25) and a short essay. Literally just show up and take notes. He is hilarious and i never wanted to miss a class. He also ends class like 30 mins early if you take his night class so DO IT!!

Possibly the best professor since high school. Sure he's not PC but you have to learn that not everyone is. But he's a fair grader, he loves what he teaches and if you run into difficulties he's super open to questions, however just as long as they're on topic.

I took his greek&latin roots class and all I can say is EASY A. Your grade is an average of 6 quizzes, but the lowest one gets dropped. I studied for each quiz straight off my class notes like an hour or two before each quiz and got 90's+. Plus this guy is so smart hes like a freaking dictionary.. lectures are fascinating. He's got some humor too.

This professor is awesome. His Latin and Greek class was by far one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken. He is very knowledgeable. 6 quizzes, NO Make up quiz. He drops the lowest quiz grade so if you miss one, that's the one dropped. No extra credit also. Your grade is solely based on 5 quiz grades. Quiz aren't hard but do get tricky.

Take him if you want a easy grade. Two 4 page papers and a midterm and final that both have the same structure of 50 short answer of words that will be written on the board or bolded in your textbook and a essay that you pick from a list and answer with 2 myths in 4 paragraphs. Textbook isn't NEEDED but its good to have. Lecture covers everything.

Easy A! Grade is the avg of 6 quizzes, with 1 dropped. Go to class and he'll tell you everything that'll show up on the quiz; take clear notes. A few aspects from older quizzes show up on later ones, but it's all basic stuff. He takes attendance but will forget/give up about halfway through the semester. He's a funny, no-nonsense prof!

One of the best! His discussion and narration of the plays was hilarious and he made lots of connections to the modern day. Very easy going and always looking for class participation. Tests are straight forward with a thorough review beforehand. Knowing classical mythology will help but he explains it if u need it. Def recommend taking his class!!

Honestly, our semester he didnt grade attendance at all but I saw on the syllabus that he used to so it might change in the future. He saw that we were doing so well that he dropped the second and only other paper in the class, and the midterm and final were both very fair and structured the exact same. Lectures were great and the textbook helped

The BEST prof Ive ever had. Super lenient on late papers, even cancelled on the other paper. 2 exams both same format. Pick 25/50 words and you have to define in 4 words then 2 short essays 350 words. He will give a VERY VERY HELPFUL study guide, so an easy A. Super funny and entertaining, great story teller, honestly made to teach mythology.

Amazing professor with clear guidelines on how to pass. Your grade is based solely off of 5-6 quizzes. He drops the lowest one if needed. If you have a good test average after the 5th quiz you have the option of being done with the class weeks ahead of time. Quizzes based on what he reviews in class and he does review the class before the quiz.

This professor is very talented in the classical mythology field. His knowledge is impressive and profound. Have no idea how he does but every his lecture is sort of adventure to the past filled with myths and gods. He made his class very enjoyable and fun even if the book is a little harsh to digest. It is an online asynchronous class so there is no attendance, grade by two papers(400 words each), and two exams including the final(Exams are both take-homes). You do not need to buy the textbook, just read the material he post on the blackboard. Take it if you want to bust your GPA and get easy A.

Prof. Salemi is a really good professor. He sends an email with what he is going to talk about in class and gives a good explanation of it. Attendance is not mandatory, BUT he gives more examples and and responds any question you have if something is not clear. He uses a book but you can download it for free.

Super lenient professor! I had him for Spring 2023 and since his class was during the night, attendance was not mandatory and all lectures were posted onto Blackboard. Grade was only based on two short papers, a midterm, and a final, all of which he gave 1-2 weeks to complete.

I took this class in the spring semester (like a year ago), this is the best professor at hunter. Even though on course details it said attendance was required I barely went to his class (he doesn't count attendance). We had 3 papers and 2 quizzes I think, which were all online. He posts his lecture on blackboard so it is very convenient.

You can tell he loves is job and makes great jokes. Overall i learned a lot about the latin & greek roots , helpful if your in the medical field (a lot of terms use it)

He is so adorable and funny. Attendance its not mandatory, I literally just went to some classes and still got an A, but when I did go, he made me laugh a lot. He really keeps it clear and fast, the classes tended to end 20 minutes it actual time, becuase if he has nothing else to say, he won't. Would take him again no doubt.
