Awesome professor, excellent classes
I love this man, hes the best teacher ever!
Great class. Great guy. Great info.
Listen, learn, get an A. Nice Guy. class is a cakewalk and stuff you should know
Funny guy.
Awesome teacher! made a 3 hour class into 50 minutes!
this guy is the best professor ever. i can not wait to take the spring class, and i will miss this course. its too bad that he only teaches one course. he is the best professor ive ever had.
A great guy and interesting class. I recommend this prof.
He's awesome!!! He cancels class often and its suppose to be a 3 hour class but only 1 hr! HIs test was fair1
Best Professor ever! He is really experienced and tells great stories from his field. I would recommend him to anyone. He makes the material really interesting. Probably the most decent person I have ever met.
Great prof. Easy class and enjoyable as well
Very funny guy...Makes class interesting..You don't really need the textbook as long as you take his notes in class. Makes class fun and you actually want to go to it! I recommend taking him whenever he is available to teach! Tests are easy
gives great examples
One of the nicest guys you'll meet. Doesn't try to trick you with terms. Tests are easy and he makes class fun with his stories from his practice. Being a hardcore Yankee fan helps too
The class is easy, but professor is annoying: always talking about either the baseball or his family and the "nicest women" who surround him. Very annoying!!! The class lasts forever even though he cuts it. NEVER is available outside the class: no e-mail, no phone, no office!
I've taken 2 classes with him & they were both great. He makes the class fun & especially easy to understand with real life examples. The best professor I've had in 4 years at UA!
Really great teacher
great teacher. made the course easy to understand and interesting with examples from his law practice experience...tests came right from the notes. go to class but you dont need to buy the text book.
Quite possibly the best professor I have had while at this university. He makes the material very easy to understand and uses great examples from his own experience as a judge. Plus I enjoyed talking with him after class about our golf stories!
best proffessor i've had at UAlbany, provides excellent real life examples, very nice guy
Nicest teacher ever. Test are T/F scenario questions so watch out, but otherwise he is awesome. He didnt even make my friend take the midterm because she was sick.
The best class.. supposed to be 3 hours, really only 1.5. Nice guy and you actually learn stuff you will need to know when we all get out of college or perhaps even before. Take the class!!
Sheehan is the man. He lets you out in about an hour with a 3 hour class.
This guy is great. He tells you, "read this, know this, memorizing this and thats it" No ****, no tricks.
One of the Best profs ive ever had. He is straight forward, nice, and to the point. He knows that the class isn't your life, and doesn't try to act like it is. Very nice guy, very good teacher, very smart guy, get him if you can!!!!
Tests are only on the notes and he tells you everything you need to know. His 3 hour class goes for an hour and a half on average. He explains the notes slowly so you can write down everything he's saying
Makes a 3 hour class about an hour..midterm is 45 True/False questions which in reality is not easy. Average grade is B, very boring guy. However gives easy notes and makes sure u get all notes, talks nice and slow
Best teacher i ever had. Class is quick and to the point. He's the man bottom line. No tricks with this guy.
awesome dude. class NEVER went over an hour and a half, and it was usually an hr. Go to class, takes notes, you'll be fine =)
The best class/professor I've had so far. He makes the class interesting and easy by telling you what you need to know, and by giving you good, detailed examples. Go to class everyday, because he takes attendance, and he'll give you a better grade if you've attended all semester.
good teacher
great teacher, gets you out of class in half the time!
By far one of the best teachers in Suny. Keeps you interested and teaches right to the point. Examples are great from life experience so you just have to be in class and take good notes.
best teacher so far. he only keeps you for half the class. tests are easy+ curve! lectures are interesting!
i sit in the front and ask questions. if i didn't, it would not be as easy. I find myself easily excelling and look forward to taking another class with him.
Very smart professor. Classes arent longer then an hour and a half. Tests are exactly what he says in lectures and a nice curve to go with it.
best teacher by far. he kept his 3 hour lectures to about an hour and a half. always gave us a good curve and tests were exactally what he talked about in lecture. good person and a very smart professor.
love his class, love his lecture, love his exam, love his grade
He is adorable! Love him!! Is really nice. Do not buy the textbook. There are only two tests, the midterm (45% of your grade) and the final (55%) both are based around the class notes.
Sheehan is the man! no lie. Everyday we talk baseball for like 10 minutes before and after class. He's really laid back. His lectures are easy to comprehend and he gives great examples with real life situations. Also the man is hilarious. There's essentially no outside reading and he usually ends class 10 or 15 minutes early.
great professor makes learning easy
Great Teacher!!! Loved the class. Gave real life examples to help us understand material. Great Guy and would recommend class to everyone!!
He is an excellent professor. He communicates with the class very well and is easy to understand
If you attend all classes there is absolute no reason for you to buy the textbook. Also, like previous people have said, his examples he gives in class are very relevant and similar to his test questions. Make sure to write them down and you will do fine. Best teacher I had this semester and is a very kind individual.
the man... take his class. if you take remotely good notes and study them, you'll get an A
Take this class ASAP. He gets my vote across the board. Go to class, take notes, and read what he assigns. Remember for ALL college classes if you miss one, you are really messing yourself up.
Great guy, great class, take it! The book is expensive and you dont use it much. Go to class not only b/c he takes attendance but b/c he makes it interesting. Take good notes!! There are 2 exams (50% each) based on notes. Hes a nice guy, has lots of stories, and is a big Red Sox and Yankees fan...I promise you'll enjoy this class!
straight off the notes but use textbook to reference ur notes and ull get an A
great teacher good stories, really cares about his students success, he will help with anything you need, go to class and his tests are EXTREMELY easy! i got 100's on both of them.
great teaching with sense of humor
Excellent teacher. Lots of helpful ( and funny ) stories to illustrate legal concepts. Tests are easy. Even though the majority of the class does well, there is still a large curve. Textbook is definitely not mandatory and I wouldn't recommend buying it.
Sheehan is great. His class is a breeze and he makes it even easier than it already is. It is almost impossible to get below a 90 on his tests, there are only 2 (midterm and final). He passes around a sign in sheet every class but im not sure he actually uses it. Guy makes great examples, and you see them on the test. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
........
he is OK, but he is a terribly mean pittsburgh fan and he will refrence his perfect team constantly. be very careful in fall classes if your team loses to them. You will get torched all class with coments. Also, if you hate cheating in baseball, bad news. he refrences SF's LF a lot. Overall, I'd give him a B-
Teaches exactly the way it should be done: through experience. Very clear. Teaches only what's going to be on the tests (there's only a midterm and final). Test questions are very simple, mostly T/F. Great sense of humor, likes to talk about personal life and the Yankees and Red Sox a lot. Overall, probably the best professor I've had so far.
great teacher, always has good real life stories to back up his teaching
Great class and great professor. As long as you go to class and take notes, then you don't really need the textbook.
Phenomenal professor. Teaches straight from own notes using life examples and some text examples. Only have to study notes from class for his 2 tests, midterm and final, which aren't difficult. Attend class because there's a sign-in sheet. Ends every class with a little joke or life lesson. Witty and knowledgeable. Favorite prof. at UA, hands down.
favorite professor at ua. as long as you pay attention and take down notes when he says to you will do well on the tests. think he is adorable and love his end of class jokes. starts class 5 minutes late ends 20-30 minutes early.
Absolute best professor at UALBANY! Uses excellent, real-life examples to get the point across. You WILL learn a lot. Tests are fair.
awesome dude. This was the first class I ever had in college and boy, it was amazing. Very helpful, easy to learn material. BOTH tests were easy and dare say funny, plus, a curve(which you are an idiot if you need)is provided. Go to class, listen, participate and you will get an A and have a really good time! Take him if possible!!!
u learn without knowing it. He is that good!
Professor Sheehan was an amazing teacher. He got to the point quickly and efficiently. Almost every class we ended early and he would always give life lessons at the end of class.
He is extremely nice and wants his students to succeed. I loved this class!
Greatest professor I've had. Is very clear and gets right to the point. Class always ended early, and tests are not difficult if you study. Also, no outside work is given, just a midterm and final. The class is also very interesting. Amazing professor!
I have no idea why he isn't in the top 5.
He is a great professor. One midterm, and Final. No outside work. He is the textbook of the class. so go to class.
Great overall guy
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!! hes funny and keeps the long class interesting. i love going to class! no hw, just a midterm and a final. he tells us to read chapters for familiarity with terms, but you dont even have to do that unless you want to. Great guy!
awesome professor, tells a lot of stories and usually ends class early. like everyone said, just a midterm and final and as long as you glimpse over your notes, use your common sense, and don't overthink things, you will be fine. about a ten point curve for the whole year literally.
Very great professor! definitely take this class! you don't really need the book, he said if you just skim it and just study the notes you take in class, you'll do fine!
Great class. Great teacher. Its a 3 hour night class, but I don't think he ever held us past 2. A lot of times we left in half an hour. We leave so quick half the people dont even get the attendance sheet and have to wait for it while class is already over. Some days you will stay for two hours...but hey its only once a week.
Very Nice Guy, Hard to hear and rambles on a lot. Keeps class short, almost let out early everytime and tests are easy as long as you vaguely comprehend the material.
your only there for about an hour and a half. Tests are a little challenging but easy class. You do not need the text book
Awesome teacher. Class is a 3 hour lecture but he only keeps you there for an hour and a half 2 max. Doesnt hold class before thanksgiving break. Loves telling stories and the material is easy. Hes a judge and lawyer so he knows his stuff. You dont need the textbook either. Just go to class and its an east B+ or higher. Final and midterm thats it.
This Professor makes class super easy. There are only 2 tests and he has a review before each exam. He is really funny and the real life examples from his life as a Judge and Lawyer make it easy to identify with the concepts he teaches.
He is an awesome guy and tries to make the material interesting. Going to class is a must, he explains everything and relates it to his everyday life. His 2 tests are alright (if you studied). You MUST pay attention during his class.
This class was just too large for his teaching style. If you don't sit in the first 3 rows you get confused by the people around you not paying attention because of his laxodasical teaching style. If you do pay attention, however, the class is VERY easy. Two tests based solely off of lecture and they're MC and T/F.
Really Good professor, cool guy. Dont need to use the textbook, but go to class because everything on the tests comes out of his lectures. Tests are very straight forward, hes really entertaining and just a cool guy.
One of my favorite teachers ever. Just go to class and take down the notes. The tests are mostly true or false and mostly just knowing certain laws. Easy A if you put in a little work and go to the lectures.
Class can get a little boring. Midterm and a final. Attendance is mandatory. Go to his lectures and try to stay awake and you'll be fine. Usually he let's you out early.
Great professor! Very knowledgeable. No need for the textbook. There were two exams for the semester. He does take attendance. Overall good class.
Didn't buy the textbook but notes are much more important when it comes to the midterm and final. Only two tests but he takes attendance. His tests are alright, pretty straight forward. He gives decent curves too! His lectures are tolerable and he's an interesting prof.
DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK! He just lectures you, no power point no online stuff, just him talking and you taking notes! Pay attention to his stories because those are the ones that help you. He IS THE MAN! He wants everybody to pass and keep going with their life. Good resource if you get to know him. Good guy!
AWESOME PROFESSOR! Can't wait to take his upperlevel blaw class! He tells stories that explains the key concepts. Don't buy the textbook. He gives two exams.
Great nice teacher and very friendly. Gives 2 test and with curves. Don't need the textbook. Listen to the stories he tells because thats how he will test you.
Absolutely amazing professor. I love this guy, I love the fact that he doesn't use the text but teaches from his extensive knowledge. Go to his lectures, attendance is mandatory. I'll admit some stuff pretty boring but you'll survive. HIGHLY recommend this prof!!
Teaches students the way all teachers should by referencing real-life scenarios. Only 2 test midterm and final, if you go to class and his study sessions you will do well. More importantly, you'll take a way life lessons from a guy whose been involved in LAW his entire life.
Professor Sheehan is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is extremely kind and will go to extreme lengths to help you with anything he can. Go to class and just show him a little respect and you will earn your A. You just need to put a little effort in to it.
Really great teacher. He has some interesting stories to tell which usually relate to the topic. Attendance is mandatory but the class is interesting enough to want to go to. DON'T buy the textbook. You don't use it. Only having 2 exams that make up your whole grade is tough but he curves them. Just make sure to study for them.
Prof Sheehan is by far the best professor I've had at Albany. He makes everything extremely clear and is always open to answer questions. Going to class is important because tests care based on lecture but as opposed to other classes his lectures really aren't bad! Definitely take this class, EASY A!
amazing prof. super easy to understand and clear on every explanation.
Best teacher I have ever had at Albany. Attendance is not mandatory, however I would recommend going to class because he tells you all the important stuff to know that are on the tests.
THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD- and i've been to more than one university. Bases everything on real life situations and tries his hardest to keep you entertained. He's an adorable old guy and very helpful. Don't buy the book. Attendance not mandatory but recommended. I wish there was a prof Sheehan for every class I take for the rest of my life
Didn't know what to expect, but definitely didn't expect to have enjoyed the class as much as i did. One of the best teachers in SUNY albany. His test aren't that hard and even if you didn't do so well he give an about 10 points curve.
Professor Sheehan suggests that you read the textbook, but I found that not really necessary. Just go to class, pay attention, take notes and you should do well in his class. He incorporates his own experiences as a judge into his lessons to keep students from getting too bored.
Straight A Student Review: Very easygoing and helpful. Class is straight notes, i prefer using a laptop to catch more that he says. Two tests, both are 50% of your grade, no homework. Attendance is obv mandatory. Listen close, take good notes, read the textbook minimally, review for the exams and youll get an A. Not hard at all to earn an A
Best teacher i have ever had. Really cares about the students. Doesnt overload you with information that is unnecessary / wont be tested on. Just take good notes in class and study them and you are guaranteed an A.
amazing professor. obviously very smart and keeps you interested in lecture. class is 50% midterm and 50% final. takes attendance as well, so skipping will negatively impact your grade. the tests are straightforward and pretty easy if you look over notes and pay attention in class. curves pretty well. 90 is the cutoff for A! DEF recommend him.
this class only has 2 grades and they're both tests, midterm and final. all you have to do is go to the lectures and try to take notes. both exams are curved normally by a lot, and then your final grade is also curved. attendance is "mandatory", he sends around sign in sheets so if you have a friend in the class you can have them sign you in.
The greatest professor ever. His class is really easy, all you do is show up to class and write down everything he tells you to write down. 2 easy exams. Hes really helpful, and hes adorable like a teddy bear. Hes the best. He gives you no homework. Hes just the nicest person you'll ever meet. If you ever have to take BLAW, pick him, always.
Professor Sheehan is a great guy with a passion for what he teaches. He is also a judge, so he knows what he is talking about when it comes to business law. Class gets pretty dry, but he does what he can to incorporate humor into it. Show up to class and take good notes. You are only graded on the midterm (45%) and final (55%). Do NOT buy the book.
Sheehan is the man. He only lectures exactly what you will be tested on, nothing extra. Class ends usually about half hour early. Final grade consists of midterm and final (both non-cumulative.) Lectures are VERY VERY clear and if you take notes, you should have no worries. Takes attendance, but you can have a friend sign you in. Try to get him
He is a good guy. Class is easy. The only two grades are midterm and final. DOnt buy textbook
Great teacher! Very understandable. Take notes during class and understand his stories and you will get an A. We had a curve for BLaw 200 of 6 points. He is very generous. My favorite professor at UAlbany.
Sheehan is the best. Always lets you out early only 2 tests no homework. you don't really need the book if you go to class and take notes
Professor Sheehan, is an okay professor. He just talks doesn't really write much on the board. Tells a lot of stories for examples. Material is rather dry and makes the class boring. He tries to make the material interesting by talking about funny and interesting stories. The class is very easy although his exams can be confusing.
Sheehan's Business Law class was never a hassle to be in. If you pay attention and do very minor studying you will do just fine. Don't buy textbook, I looked at it not once.
Passing this class is very easy. He only gives the midterm and final, it may seem scary but as long as you pay attention and study you'll pass. The lectures aren't that boring, he tells a lot of stories as examples. I wouldn't buy the textbook instead find someone who has it so you can borrow it. Your notes won't be helpful, he barely writes. EASY
Very boring lectures, but such a nice guy and very easy class. Tests can be confusing, & you're only graded on the midterm & final so make sure you take your time. Go to office hours if you don't do well on midterm, he'll help you out on the final.
Professor Sheehan is the best. He only gives a midterm and a final, and curves both of them. Some of the material is dry, but he tells you everything you need to know, and if you show up and take a few notes, his class is easy.
Great teacher, Absolutely loved having someone who tried to tie the material to real life examples that are currently happening or that happened in the past. He is a judge also and has tons of stories that relate to the material. 2 tests one midterm one final. Would take any other class he offers no doubt.
Sheehan actually cares about his students, if you have a question he will go back and explain. Lectures are full of stories and examples, can be lengthy but still a great class. Two exams: midterm and final. He gave a 6 pt curve on the midterm and it was pretty easy to begin with. Hands down my favorite professor, by far.
I loved this class, although you do have to go to class and take notes, everything is said and explained in a life story or a funny example that allows you to understand the material. I played 2048 the whole class and listen and wrote down what was needed and still got a A-. There are only two tests though so you have to do decent on them.
Only tests are midterm and final. They were harder than I expected. He doesn't do slides, you just write down what he says. Uses anecdotal teaching which is fun. He repeats stories sometimes but he's super nice and relatable and loves his students, always willing to help when you need it. Didn't really need the book tbh. No homework ever.
He is very easy going and gives a good curve on the exams. If you show up to class and take notes you'll do perfectly fine on the exams.
Class is pretty easy. It is boring sometimes but professor is amazing and does his best to make it better. Huge curve. Show up, take notes and you are good.
He makes things easy to remember by giving real life examples. He doesn't post the notes online. You also have to sign in but he doesn't count it for or against you. One of the nicest professors I have dealt with. I would take another class with him if given the opportunity.
I love Joe Sheehan he could honestly be my grandfather. His class is a little dry but overall, if you pay attention you have nothing to worry about.
Sheehan is a jolly man, very funny and very down to earth. He doesn't upload slides or even use blackboard for that matter, so attending lectures is pretty mandatory. The tests are fairly self-explanatory and he is pretty funny to top it off. Good guy.
Only graded by midterm and final, but if you go to class and take good notes you will be fine. He teaches you only things that you will be tested on and he does it through interesting real life stories that really make you grasp what he is saying. Good and funny professor.
I loved Sheehan. He was such a nice guy and was willing to help whenever you needed it. His lectures seem to drag sometimes but he tells stories to make the material more interesting and easy to understand. Only 2 exams so you have to do well to pass, but if you take good notes you will be fine
I love this professor. He is soft spoken and can be monotonous, however, he is a very good teacher and he makes sure that you understand the material. He goes into depth and provides many examples, and ample opportunity for you to write down his examples. I would recommend him.
Highly recommend!! Lectures could get dry at times but Prof. Sheehan recognizes that and tries to make them as interesting as possible. Provided great examples for each concept. Only a midterm and a final which can be tough. Overall great professor and even better person.
Sheehan is the man. He is a great professor and an easily approachable person. He's been through it all and has a story for everything. He makes an iffy course interesting and has a lot of fun doing it. I highly recommend getting into one of his courses whether it be in an LC or the business building.
I love, love, love Sheehan. He makes everything relatable and the only work is the 2 tests we have. They're so easy to pass, so his class is light.
Professor Sheehan is really nice, his lectures can be kind of dry but attendance is mandatory. There is no homework, but reading the textbook really helps with understanding his lessons, and is essential to doing well on his tests. Your only grades are the midterm (45%) and the final (55%). Highly recommend actually reading the textbook.
Makes you want to show up to a class that would otherwise be boring subject matter.
Only a midterm and a final. Midterm is 45 questions worth 45% of your grade and the final is 55 questions worth 55% of your grade. He curves each test, but he curves the direct admit class less than his other classes.
One of my favorite professors. Tells a lot of stories but they help to remember Law situations. Lets you out about 20-30 minuets early most classes. Only two tests all multiple choice with a fair (or better than fair) curve
One of the best professors at UAlbany. Tells stories during lecture to make things more clear, and only gives two tests all semester. He usually lets you leave at least 25 minutes early every class.
Incredibly funny, interesting professor. His lectures are informational and he makes them as fun as possible. As long as you take good notes, you're fine. Both the midterm and final are straightforward and simple.
DO NOT GET THE TEXTBOOK! He only uses the book for examples of situations. He tests on what he says in class, NOT the book.... so save your money! Gives ZERO homework and always ends class early. Great guy and loves to give examples from his own life. You will NOT pass if you skip class so don't even try.
Professor Sheehan made a dry class one that was informational and enjoyable. His humor made the class one I looked forward to going to and while the midterm and final are the only grades, they are easy to do well on and there is a curve for both exams. As long as you take good notes and pay attention, the textbook isn't needed.
No homework. He makes the lectures as interesting as he can. If you show up to class, he will make sure you pass.
Two tests, the midterm and the final, are counted for your grade. The lectures were a bit boring, make sure to sit in the front so you can hear what he says because it is a bit hard to understand him at times. Take good notes, especially the things he writes on the board. Go to class because he hints some test questions. Find the textbook online!
One of the best professors! Go to class, take notes and it's an easy A. Highly recommend considering he's an all-around nice guy and there's no homework. Do NOT buy the textbook, its expensive and pointless!
Sheehan's class is really easy to pass as long as you show up. Be sure to sit at the front as he uses the whiteboard to write down important information. Don't need the textbook as all you need to know for the tests he will tell you in class.
The class as a whole is easy. Sheehan curves both tests, test 1 being 45 points and test two being 55, 100 multiple choice all together. I never went to class and still got an A.
We were only graded on a midterm and a final which were super easy. He holds test reviews before each test and makes sure the students understand what's going on. No homework is given and he's a jokey guy. He has a story for everything so be prepared to listen they help explain things though. Talks about wife a lot.
One of the best professors I've had. He's a really understanding and caring person, easy to talk to. No textbook needed, tests are on what he says in class. There are no notes online, so be sure to come to class. He makes it interesting and usually ends early, so it's worth going.
The best professor ever. Really nice person. Lectures are easy, all you have to do is listen to him and that will get you to pass and get an easy A if you listen and take notes. Curves exams but the tests are so easy that you dont even need a curve. Great course, gives example for every topic which helps you remember it
Do not take this course if you can't pay attention to extremely dry topics. He does make class interesting with a few stories from his time as a judge, but overall I did not enjoy this class. If you dont come to class and take extensive notes, you wont pass. He passes attendance sheets around also. Only two grades are midterm (45%) and final (55%.)
Story time: I was late to the midterm, sprinted from across campus, showed up sweaty and gross and almost crying, sure he wouldn't let me take the exam- and this guy smiles and whispers, "It's okay, take a seat and we'll get you started." Gotta love Sheehan. (also the textbook really isn't necessary so don't worry)
Sheehan is an easy a IF take good notes and pay some attention. The only rough thing is that the midterm and the final are the only two grades so you really cant mess either thing up. Hes an amazing dude though and a great teacher
Amazing professor, excellent experience. Two tests, study hard for both with the lecture notes and you'll be fine.
He's the man. Go to class and take good notes, look them over a few times before exams and you'll be golden. Lectures can get boring at times but he usually ends class early and ends it with a good story.
Great professor. Usually ends class early so the long boring lectures arn't that bad. Take a lot of notes (he tells you what is important to know and what isn't). GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS, he will give you important information for the midterm or final. Attendence is mandatory.
He gives easy exams and gives curves, as well. As long as you study, or, atleast, try, you will probably pass his class.
He tells you exactly what to write down/what you need to know to pass. If you show up to class consistently he will boost your grade at the end if you ask. Your grade only consists of the midterm and final. He often lets you out of class really early. Don't buy the textbook.
Best professor I've ever had!
Really funny guy and you can tell he cares about his students success. Takes attendance but its not part of your grade. Class is only graded on the midterm (45%) and final (55%). They are not too hard and he has a big curve. Ends every class with a funny story from his time as a judge. Also end class early often.
I love Professor Sheehan! I took classes with him for two semesters, and was so happy I did. He makes the sometimes boring material much more interesting with his stories and jokes. Grading is done off the midterm and final, but he helps you prepare for them, even holds review sessions and provides a curve.
Hes a fair professor. Only the midterm and the final are the two grades for the class. He curves them. He responds to emails.
He was the best professor I had in my accounting program. The class was only based on two grades, the midterm and final but his exams were very fair. He even did review sessions for each exam. He explained material so well and his stories really helped to understand the material. Great person and professor!
He's real laid back. He talks about real-life experiences and incorporates them into his teaching. I enjoyed him.
