Hard to understand, should avoid him
smart teacher but he cant teach students,avoid him. He didnt teach the class properly and the tests were extremely diffucult.
He is funny and has a cute accent. He cares alot about students. Just read the book for his tests.
He's rude and conceided. He can't talk staright and picks on students who have accents. His class is a joke. Easy A. You'll probally get the same knowledge just reading the book yourself.
If you wanna take this class to get it over with, TAKE HIM. He tells you what he puts on the test, WORD for WORD. He goes off and talks about his own life and how he handle stuff which is sometimes interesting. Easy A, if you can put up with his comments.
He is the best teacher at CSUF. He is knowledgable, wise and funny. You will learn how to apply stats in real life day 2 day activities. Besides teaching stats or MIS he teaches you how to love life and live it...
He is so kewl! he is the best teacher who understands that knowledge is not only limited till the books. he has a more realistic apporach towards education! he is an excellent professor!take him for as many classes as u can! Good luck
If he likes you, then you'll get a good grade, otherwise he'll give you a C. This class is more like a philosophy class as he rambles on. Not normal Sys Admin course. Tends to make ISDS students feel down, especially foreigners who have trouble w/English.

If you want a good, easy prof., take Sherif. If those otheer ppl who rated bad would've listened, they would've heard him say, "I dont want to offend anyone, I just want to make the class fun. If you are sensitive, just talk to me and I wont pick on
His class really does not have any educational value. You don't even have to show up to get an A. 90% of his lecture has nothing to do with the course material and he talks about anything. Don't take him if you want to learn.
If you want an easy A take this class. There is a ten page paper and presentation, quizzes and 3 tests but they are all easy to do. He's very helpful if you want advice about your career. Take him if you want an easy class
NOT A GOOD TEACHER. But if you want a easy A he's the guy to take. But if you want to learn DON'T TAKE HIM. Everything was pretty easy except for the final.
He is the easiest ISDS teacher at CSUF. The only problem is you don't learn a thing unless you read the book and do research on your own. He's funny and can be side-tracked easily.
DR. Sherif is the greatest professor. He is smart and knows his stuff. You have to be smart to understand his way of teaching. He jokes alot but it relates to his lectures. One of the best classes I have taken. Take him if you hate ISDS.
this class is a joke.. final is worth 50% of the total grade, questions are ambiguous and seem out of left field.. you are guaranteed at least a C even if you do nothing all semester.. if you want a C take him.. if you want an A, take someone else..
Take him only if you don't mind getting a C. Is an easy teacher in that he wants to pass everyone, but you won't learn anything and therefore not pass his final. He gets off topic A LOT.

Fun Teacher, Talks alot about non-ISDS Stuff. If you take him for 361A you have to take him for B. Everyone gets at least a C. Don't take him if you want to learn STATS. He will help you if you ask. Worked in groups. Homeowrk, 1 test and a final. IF you turned in homework, you got a C.

I should of listened to an early review. It's true, you get an A if he likes. Everyone else gets Cs. You do all this work for NOTHING because the only thing he counts is the final exam that is answering questions. If you're one of his "favorites", he'll give you an A or B even if you did poorly on the final. Don't learn nothing from him WORST EVER

Register for the course and do nothing for a C. Yup, he fails no one. After the wasted time in class and doing the assignments, it all goes out the window because your grade in class is the grade you get on the final. Take him for an easy passing or take someone else if you want to learn.

He loves to make jokes on students. Did not learn anything from his class. Waste of time and money.
This professor stinks! Told us to study from the first and second exams for the final. Final was NOTHING like the first two tests. Failed half the class. Told us he would be available during his office hours, and he never even showed up. Do not take him. Picks favorites, and if your not one of them, you fail.

You don't learn anything. He rambles on for 3/4 of the class and only teaches like 15/20 minutes worth per class. Doesnt tell you what's on tests let alone the no final review. Yeah right he don't fail anyone. I got the same grades as my friend in the class, sometimes I would get a higher grade than my friend,,, my friend passed and I didnt.
Horrible experience! He did not teach anything in the class and his tests were really hard (Not MC). Who told you he won't fail anyone? At least I know two of my classmates failed his class. Don't take him - Seriously!

All yall who says he sucks are just bitter because he failed you because you either cheated or never even tried. I mean he spells everything out for you how lazy can you be?!? Follow his examples and do the extra credit you'll pass easy. And if you try you'll get a B or maybe even an A. I've taken him for three class he is the man period!!!

I truly honestly can say that he is the worse professor I have ever come across my 6years of school. He screwed my life by giving me an unfair grade, which made me lose my scholarship and graduation date!!! Don't take him, and those who have registred with him, act now and find another professor as he put be through depression, stress, +self-focus
Toke him for 361A, and didn't learn anything, toke him for summer 361B and he ended up failing 3/4 of the class. Cannot not teach, lacks communication problem, and descrimnates many students, especially men. Those of you registred in his class, friendly and honest advice...find another proferssor who has the devotion to teach, he needs to retire!
Sherif was great!! Not a good teacher but easy as **** All the posts about getting Fs, those students need to go back to JC because anyone with a half a brain can pass with sherif. We really didnt do ANYTHING in the class. Tests were hard but I guess it dont matter. I got a B, though i dont know how :)
Dr. Sherif does not know how to teach.Do good on the first two tests because the final is nothing like what he teaches you and is worth 50%of your grade. If you're one of his "Favorites" then you should pass. But he has been getting heat from the dept.about passing too many people so he WILL fail half the class. Grade inflation sucks!

Amazing professor any person with half a brain of intellect could pass his class. Great person, very nice, and spoon feeds the material to you. Trust me he is the easiest and coolest you can fine.
Hard class. Didnt learn anything. try to talk to him in class so he remembers your name and makes fun of you. show up to every class. on the 1st exam, 1/4 of the class got 0 out of 110. doesnt give examples to exams and pulls out BS questions for exams. try to go to his office hours to show you are trying.. good luck.
If your registered for his class DROP HIM NOW. The class material is easy, but his test are hard. His test are based on his lecture, but he'll find some way to make the question very difficult. He is very bias when it comes to grades. I had to wait in line outside his office to argue my final grade (which did not help). DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.
I took him for summer, pretty relaxed. I WOULDN'T want to take him for a whole semester. Thought I was going to get a C, got a B. He makes his tests tricky. It's like he has to make the test question two steps harder than the example he gave you, WHICH SUCKED. esp. cuz he didn't follow the book, so I got lost. Pretty funny. Rambles A LOT.
This is pretty hard, he has a heavy accent, and sometimes it hard to understand his lectures. He does curve, which means that you better be in the class mean. I barely passed with a C, and most of the class got D's and F's, so be prepared to study and UNDERSTAND the material.
TAKE HIM, ok yea his tests are ridiculous and i got 1 out of 4 on first test, 2 out of 4 on second test, and got a C in the class, not one person failed our class, if u got 0 out of 4 on both tests u pass with a C, as long as u show work. Biggest joke ever, but hes tight! lol. he understands not everyone needs stats, and he makes that clear hahaha
He was great. The tests are hard, but if you study and try you can pass. The best professor out of the rest, you at least have 70% chance of passing compared to the others where it is well under 40%. Sit in front, listen, laugh at his jokes, and you'll pass.
do yourself a favor and take him. you dont need the book. you dont need to study. all you have to do is come to class, participate a little, have him learn your name and make fun of you a bit, and you got yourself a passing grade. tests are curved so much that it doesnt matter what you get. he is going to pass everyone in the class.
Easiest professor at CSUF - he'll pass everyone. He makes a lot of rude comments, so be ready to be made fun of. There's no need to buy a book, in fact, there's no need to study! Overall he's a pretty cool guy, he just speaks his mind.
If you want to gamble with your grade then take this class, if not then take someone else, he failed more than half the class, the tests are not multiple choice and very hard most people got zeros, If you are enrolled in this class and you dont like to gamble with your grade then act now and dropped the class before its TOO LATE.
This class is not easy and he will NOT pass everyone tests are not multiple choice and very hard half the class failed, maybee he is a little linent lenient in 361A but in this class he failed more than half the class.
Dr. Sherif is nice. His class is so enjoyful and perfect. I like to attend his class the whole class time to listen his joke. It is so perfect summer class, and no stressful
This class was super easy, he totally cuts corners by leeting you go home early, and the tests are curved so freakin' high that you're pretty much assured a "C." He goes off the topic but he keeps your interest and it actually ties back to the subject. If you're really going to focus on stats in your future I wouldn't recommend him u'd be bored.
He has to be the best professor at CSUF that teaches ISDS 361B. He understands that you will not be using this type of stats in the real world,and will teach you what you really need to learn. I would recommend him to those of you who are not ISDS majors. Just let him learn your name and make fun of you a bit and youll be fine. He is a great person
LOL this class was a joke - so easy to get a C. Believe it or not you do actually learn something. His format is simple, doesn't waste time with boring lectures, and the curve is nothing I've ever seen before. I've heard Dr. Sherif has his good and bad semesters as far as grading goes... I must have caught him on a good one ;)
I have taken this professor for both stats a & b. He passes everyone with a C.
Primarily useless as an instructor. A heavy accented, nincom****, who likes to discuss random and irrelevant topics. Do not get on his bad side b/c he is old and probably going mad. Learned absolutely nothing from the class, and yet still somehow received a "C" grade like everyone else...
Seriously people, we only HAFTA study 7 calculation problems for the whole semester to get A! If you can not even study those 7, how can you expect to survive in this business world? I only spend 4 hours for that class and get 100% A.

This professor or i mean DR. Sherif is the best, i swear the best ISDS teacher you can possible get at CSUF. Despite his unclear english, he is a kind hearted and helpful teacher. For those who said he is the worst i promise you they are SO WRONG. He is understanding, will pass u as long as you show the effort to UNDERSTAND the concept of statistic
wow what an amazing professor. taught only what is impotant in business world and rest all in trash..SUPER CHILL PROFESSOR. GOSH I WISH ALL INSTRUCTOR WERE LIKE HIM...he is soo funny, cracks jokes and tells funny stories...amazing...loved his summer session class... people i recommend you to take him if you want to learn only imp stuff ;)
EASY! I am horrible at math and I would not have passed if I didnt take him. Easy tests, little homework, funny
This teacher is very entertaining, to say the least. There is never a dull moment and he speaks his mind. Be prepared for comments like, "Woman come here!" "Do you understand my English?" I earned 14 out of 100 and ended up with a C. Make sure he knows your name.
He is not easy anymore. He is really challenging. I like a good challenge. *wink wink* I got a B though. Take his class. Seriously, just go to class everyday because he takes attendance, make sure you leech off a smart person on how to do a few problems and really know it. And you will do fine. Just don't not show up and you will pass for sure.
This guy is wrong. he is changed. he failed the whole class in fall 08. He is changed people. He dont care if you fail...YOU CAN PASS IF YOU REALLY STUDY FINAL EXAM, very hard...
He is changed becasue of the people who complained about him to the dean, he no longer passes students based on curve. ITS ALL POINTS BASED. If you get zero's and wait for his curve, YOU ARE DEAD. Come on people - you're seniors! This class does take effort and a little bit of butt kissing (so he knows who you are). You shouldn't be at this level in school if you can't pass his class. He is, by far, the easiest of ISDS 361B instructors. There were several students who were taking him because they flunked the class with someone else-Dnt b LAY

I took him for ISDS 361 A, and one guy got ZERO IN THE MIDTERM AND PASSED WITH A "C", this was just SUMMER 07. NOW IS THAT HARD TO BELIEVE. huh. This guy is so funny and refreshing. True, the course is dull and the material is intimidating but he's very understanding. By all means, try to do better than your classmates and you'll be fine. He curves big time but not as much as before.
I took him for 361A & he was easy. BUT,someone complained that he's too easy, so now because of the DEAN he;s failing everyone.Dont take him at all, he doesnt teach and exam is VERY HARD.You cant ask qs cause he tells you to shut up!

He is the only passable isds teacher for "B". U don't have to do much in the class and Yes you won't really learn much from this class so no stress :) (be happy for that) although his exams are hard and you won't have a clue unless you are an "A+++" student. Overall he's worth taking for passing grade of a "C".
He is an excellent professor,be prepared before the class he asks everyone if they understand its great if you dont he will ask u to come to the front of the class to learn the material. He will fail you if you dont pass his exams, you need to study for them, if you understand the material in class you will do great on the exam.
He is definitely changing.He is trying to make it a fair game and not just pass everybody. The HW is extra credit which helps boost your grade. In the semester you can earn 13pts which can easily boost a grade.Questions are pretty much out of the picture because he will tell you to ask other students for help.
pretty easy class, tests open notes, not a lot of stress. extra credit too. i would recommend you take him.
this teacher hilarious!! He constantly takes randomly change his voice high and says "arghhh" haha test is 4 questions open book open notes.. dont sit in the front he will pick on you for the rest of the semester.
Awesome Teacher! He makes the whole class laugh during class meetings. He has a great attitude and even if you sit in the front it's okay he wants you to understand. If you have a question or problem he will listen and try to help out. He has the best jokes that will honestly crack you up in class. Do the homework for points and the paper, not hard
This is the first review Ive ever written because Sherif is that good. I had no idea what was ever going on in the class, just sat in the back on facebook, and managed 100% in the class. The tests are open note/book w questions verbatim from the notes. Just show up and write down what he puts on the board and its an easy A.
Utterly useless teacher. Smart? Yes. Funny? Definitely. A good professor? Absolutely not. Will you pass? For sure! Most likely with a C though. Take him if you're having difficulty with this subject, as it is quite difficult with another professor.
now, this guy is a mystery, my experience with him is, he is a good man, who has just been done dirty in life or something, so he does have biases, and as a professor, you cannot take him serious, because he cannot teach period.
Would not recommend Sherif for ISDS361B. Was passable, but with lot of effort and studying. However, if you have any questions on any type of problem, he'll try his best to have other students help you, or even call on you to do it in front of everyone to do it on the board. Some of the test review ?'s did not have anything to do with the test
If your having difficulty with stats, take him if you want to pass. Would say 80-90% of people who pass, pass with a C. No homework. One easy midterm paper, 7-10 pgs. Two mid terms. First one easy. 5 question insanely hard final. Review problems and study guide had nothing to do with problems on final. You will laugh in class but not learn anything
Class is easygoing, but test is extremely hard even it's open book, note. Coz up to 80% of the thing he teach u won't be on the exam. Be very careful when u read the test sheet, many small tricks. Class average is less than 50% on the first exam. Learn nothing from this class. Total useless. Good luck.
This man deserves no repect. Does not know the subject and thinks he is a god. Talks like his is the boss. Thinks he is funny. Definitely worthless to your time, money, and education.
Worst professor I've ever had. Wastes so much class time acting a stand up comedian. Insults students and told a girl who had a question to "shut up" then "grow up" when she was offended. The entire class lacks structure and direction. He has students teach the class at times. Took us 3 days to review 30 minutes of 361a material. Useless!
Lectures are a waste of time. Sherif picks on students that did well in 361A to present 361B points. He doesn't know how to use Excel (or computers in general) very well. He doesn't follow his syllabus; he doesn't assign homework; he doesn't use the book(/s); he doesn't prepare you for the exams; he doesn't challenge you academically.
He doesn't fail anyone, doesn't use the book, and you don't do anything worth any points till the last week of school. Make sure to take really good notes on everything and be ready for anything in this class: He will test you on things he didn't even cover in class. He is crazy and his class can be really easy, use the internet during tests.
So if youre looking to pass, he is the prof. If your looking to learn and get an A, look elsewhere. Though he is funny and entertaining, he does not teach and you have to teach yourself or go to his office. It is very hard to pay attention to him cause he goes off on random tangents. Hes kind of crazy but hes funny
Even though i earned an A in the class. I really thought it was just by luck. On the exams, it doesnt matter if you get the right answer but what he looks for are little details on your work. Majority of the class had to use the internet to help solve some problems since he didnt even cover them in class for the exams.
If you want to pass with a C take his class. If you want anything higher take another professor or maybe out of luck you can get an A. He doesn't lecture he likes to go on rants. Hes a silly guy but if you want an A or B try to take someone else. His grading style is very random. I think he passes everyone and decides randomly who gets an A or B.
Dr. Sherif passed away last week. May he rest in peace.
