AVOID HIM IF YOU WANT TO LEARN THE MATERIAL.. CAUSE HE JUST READS THE TEXTBOOK...VERY BORING.. BUT HIS EXAMS ARE EASY, 20 MC QUESTIONS. YOU BASICALLY STUDY & LEARN ON YOUR OWN. ATTENDANCE IS A BIG DEAL AND HE GIVES HW FROM THE BOOK BUT THEY ARE REALLY EASY
Nice professor. very easy if you are busy or lazy. but accounting is hard, you need study your own.
He is not bad. Just follow him during the class because he teaches direcly from the textbook.Definately you need to read the book. 2 midterms and 1 final. He gives curve if the class average is too low. Study the homework questions he assigns and understand the materials.the exams are fair.
He's not a bad guy, but unfortunately, the class is just boring. Its true he teaches from his notes, which he writes based on the textbook, so do get some caffeine in you before attending. He adjusts test difficulties depending on class' performance though, so thats a plus.
He assigns questions on material he feels is important, and that will show up on the exams, so DO the homework. Also the textbook is your bible since he follows it very closely...READ it. This is a very fair professor, which is hard to come by at Baruch.
first of all we all know Acc4100 is hard subject but just think of if you have to study all ur own it will make its harder. n exam are hard not multiple choice dont take him take some oene else
he is the worst of the worst. You don't learn anything in his class. It is a waste of time if u are planning to take the CPA. don't take him!!!
This semester (spr 10) he is teaching saturdays. the class is ok. it is a little slow but, hey its accounting. if u wanna learn, then maybe this isnt the class. if u want a decent grade, go with him. not a hard class, and the exams are based on how well the entire class performs all in all 3.8/5
He is very attentive to students and tries to answer all their questions. 3 exams are OK, but not too easy. The material by itself is very dry so bring some coffee with you. I've never met any professor in accounting who'd spend so much time in explaining to students. Do your part too. Not an easy subject, but definitely manageable with Soldano.
He has three tests and they are hard to study. He doesn't teach a lot in class and you have to learn by yourself.
Not recommended if you plan to learn in class & hope it helps to prepare for your CPA exam.
He doesn't know how to teach at all! Please stay away from this prof. He just talk to himself during the class!
Class average was a 90 so everyone got A's.
terrible professor. does not teach anything. he will not explain anything in a way that students can comprehend them because he is incapable. be prepared to teach yourself.
Don"t lie to other students. How do you know the class average was 90 or everyone got A? Don"t forget not only you who took that class. I was one of his students too the time you took it.
I am waiting for my grade, but I know I got A in his class. I like his teaching style, and he is very helpful especially the study guide he prepares.
He is a good professor, gives points for homework and attendance which helps a lot. He is not easy but not extremely difficult either, if you do the hw, go to class, and read text book you should be able to make it. I got a 77 on first exam and 67 on second and ended up with a B, by really focusing on final. All accounting majors just want that 2.5
He doesn't know how to teach. Mandatory Attendance but it is useless. He never use the textbook. Exam is easy because he is extremely lazy. All questions are come from Text bxxk.
I took him during short summer session. He uses all examples from the textbook and you have to read it in order to do good in class. His exams are very reasonable and not hard if you read the text.Overall good class and professor, but you have to studyyyy!
nice guy, tests are really easy, majority of the question comes from illustration in the book that he does in class,2 midterms and final which are long but easy, basic hw on connect, strict on attendance yet he doesnt stick to it,hes really glad to help after class, overall he might not be the best, but hes def good, i would retake him for a dif class
Average Accounting professor. You will learn more from doing the homework and reading the book like most accounting classes. Fairly boring especially if you have him in the morning. The exams require you to practice on your own time. Attendance is mandatory and you will be penalized for lateness. Recommended if you no one else to take.
The guy actually teaches compared to other accounting professors and there are no surprises in the exam what you covered in class and connect will be on the exam that are very straight forward. Also get a good grade in acct 3000 its the easiest acct class believe me. p.s read the book
This man knows his stuff. Good professor. A lil tough sometimes and a bit corny, but hey, can't beat his 35 years of industry experience. You will learn something in his class. Recommend him.
Hes ok as far as lecture goes. You have to work hard, its not an easy class. The only thing that bothered me was the final. It was not multiple choice and the amount of questions was too much.A couple of people just gave the test back without even doing it. I have mixed feelings about this professor
He is very strict about attendance; do not miss more than four classes. He isn't a great lecturer but you can do well in the class if you study the textbook. 2 midterms, 1 final, HW and attendance. All questions on the exams are covered in the textbook. Grades are based on department curve. Top 20% get A's, next 20% get B's etc.
Questions on the exam are much harder then the examples shown in class. If you like to study from the book and assignments given then this is your professor. So far this is the first accounting class I did not enjoy at all.
I'm taking his course for summer. Many students dropped the course because it is really hard. But, if you study really hard, it is not impossible to get a good grade. He is very strict about attendance. Don't miss!!! Don't be late. He deducts participation grade if you are late more than 3 times. P.S. He sometimes makes calculation mistakes.
not an exciting subject so not an exciting class, but it's important to pay attention. still the tests are not easy even if you study a lot. i think half the class dropped
Too hard. But if you study hard, you can do well
He doesn't teach... The most boring professor. He seems to be a really [professional in his field but not in the teaching field. His voice is very annoying. If you want to LEARN, SO BE PREPARE TO SELF-STUDY>>STRICT on attendance and make sure u never late, even five min. otherwise he will remember you>
He is an well-organized man. We cannot break his rules since he made. Sometimes the class is boring. If you do not want to get a C, you have to study hard as much as you can.
He is one of the worst professors I've ever had. He doesn't teach well at all. He loses his train of thought constantly, his voice is annoying and he makes so many mistakes during the lecture that you end up being even more confused. As a result, his exams are hard. Be prepared to self study and make sure you are never late or absent.
Everything you need to know is in the textbook. If you do the problems in the back of the textbook and read the text EXTREMELY carefully, you will be prepared for the exams. I took the class this past summer, got an A-. Put in 10-15 hrs a week in the class and you can get an A.
Made me hate Accounting. Ruined my GPA. He simply just cannot teach. You can tell he knows his stuff but some people just don't belong in front of a classroom. I guess you can get at least a B- if you study extremely hard and have no life outside of college. Good luck.
he cant teach. And his exams are directly from Testbank.
you can see by his facial expressions that the professor is judgmental when a student asks him a question, and he wonders why no one participates in class. The guy is no fun, he laughs at his own jokes and no 1 else in the class does. Y do you want to teach if u belittle the student?!!
Do yourself a favor, dont take this guy. He will kill your gpa, consider that its a 4 cred class, and weighs more in ur transcript! Accounting is nkt the most subject, but this guy makes it so boring. He is strict with atendance, frowns at you, and tests r hard. Theres 3 tests; first 2 r all mc and t/f. The final has problems in it.
Very good professor, he is really organized and expects his students to be on time and organized. He prepares guidelines notes for both the midterm and final. You will do well on the exams if you read the textbook and focus in class. He is much better than some other accounting professor due to explaining clearly and sharing his experience. Thanks
Hes actually a great accounting professor.i have a feeling people are giving him bad ratings because you have to commit a lot of hours in order to receive an A.But hey if you want a career in accounting it will be essential to know this stuff anyway.overall, study the textbook and ask him for help when needed, he always helps his students.
he is very organized and actually teaches material. If u take other courses in Baruch, u would know there r very few profs really teaches his/her students. But this prof really try to teach and help his students after the lecture or if u make appointment with him. He also gives review notes and clear direction before exams, but stll exams r hard.
So where do I start here? One of the most boring professors I've ever taken. His lectures always put me to sleep (and I usually don't sleep in classes lol). Frowns at you, if you ask him anything. Took attendance every class, and expected everyone to be there ALL the time. Come on, it's not a kindergarten! Do not take him.
Governmental and Non-for-Profit Accounting class is not an easy one. It covers 2 chapters for the FAR exam. However, the professor explains the material very well and if you pay attention and study the whole semester, you will do well. I have learned so much from this class and highly recommend it. Homework every week, one midterm and one final.
This is guy is trash. Doesn't curve tests. 2 people score 80s on the 2nd midterm. 11 ppl 70s. 20 60s, rest 50s. How the hell do we pass?
His lectures are boring. His gives you a review sheet for the exam(shows topics being covered). The exams are nothing like the homework it's harder. Time your self in the exams. I ran out of time in all of them. Very knowledgable shares field experience in class. Dropped the class workload was too much this semester. Taking it this summer.
Good teacher. Do your work, read the textbook.
He's really thorough! Only wish I put in more time during the semester. Just write down all the lectures read the book and do homework. He's generous w grading/curve. Real deal professor!
He is no doubt very smart in his field. The lectures can be boring (but that's because accounting is). His tests are all multiple choice except for the final which as 2 short answers (easy journal entries and a simple income statement). If you want to pass, go to his office hours. He is very helpful and nice. Would take him again.
Great professor. Explains clearly his grade policy as well as the material used in class. There are surprises in the test, he tests out the material he has taught in class.
He was a great professor. Very fair, clear with his requirements and grading policy, had well organized lectures. I took him in Summer, and this class made me switch from Finance to Accounting. There is a lot of work and studying, but I like the material so it didn't matter to me. Very happy with his teaching style. Attendence is very important.
Goes off on tangents way too much. Majority of class failed first test. Very strict prof. A lot of material to memorize. Will kill your GPA.
he is tough guy. his tests r hard! 60% people were under 50 still he didn't curve. he takes attendance everyday! don't miss/be late on class. if you ask him one question he will ans another. not recommended at all.
He does not care about his students. He will yell at you in class if you ask for clarification. Moral of the story. Don't talk in class. Also do not miss any class. you need to attend all all his classes(yes-all) to get 3 credit adjustments. this is the only curve you will get for the entire course.
Come to class after knowing all the material, don't expect him to teach you the material.
He is very knowledgeable. however he fails to engage with his students ; he is always available after class. take advantage of that.
Petty. Don't even whisper in class. He's anal about that. Grading system is clear. Do the homework, helps alot. He tries to care about his students but not enough for a good curve. 20mid,25mid,45final,10hw. Tells you info for test in class. Go to them&pay attention. Ask for help during office hrs & study hard. Overall he knows material, but tough.
Get ready to be humiliated for a entire semester if you are not a morning person. You are late? He will give you dirty look. Sometimes he will call you out by saying are you in this class? His tests a tricky. If you dont dp well on tests, dont except a decent grade. He does not curve.
If he doesn't like you for any reason; you are screwed! Literally! Advice: dont ever talk to classmates not even whisper, never use your phone, never be late/miss class, do all the homework and additional homework, read every chapter and practice a lot. Sounds too much? Sorry, You are not passing this class then!
I took him after seeing some mediocre reviews! Hoping that he would be good, oh gosh, i was so wrong! His class is boring; he will show you graph of how many students like to sleep in class! Sarcasm! He is old school! No slides, he writes everything on board! Take good notes and study real hard, you will be fine.
If you are good at memorizing, this class is for you. He tests more on theory, less on calculation! If you could memorize the chapters he will be testing you on you will do well. To pass this class memorize everything from his lecture notes to homework problems.
Formula to get an A 1. attended EVERY Class 2. Be respectful and act like you care 3. Do better than the average class total at least 4. get the test banks Soldano is the best prof in the accounting department, he is fair and if you show this guy you want to do good, he'll reward you for it. Good guy too, pretty funny - just gotta grind
He is very serious about attendance and late comers however the key to passing the class is to come to class and pay attention. I think he's a great professor, I learned so much from this class and understood accounting better after taking his class. He's a very sweet professor and funny at times. If you're willing to put in the work you'll be fine
Be serious about your attendance, don't even come late. Because you want to get the max adjustment credits that he gives. Taking the notes(copy everything from the board) is the key to pass the course. He has his own materials and uses the textbook to teach other than the publisher's slides. Go ask him questions after class, make him know you.
Be serious about attendance. However this is basically self-teaching class because the lectures make you want to sleep. The exams aren't hard. Just read the book and understand it and go through all the homeworks.
read read and read. before class during class after class. you can pass this class you just need to put a lot of time studying a lot!. go to class knowing the material, participate and go to office hours. if you know the material then classes make sense.
avoid him if you can
Professor Soldano is funny during his lectures in a very quirky way. His class is early in the morning and is very serious about attendance so do not come late. If you know you won't be a morning person and will show up late for class don't even bother registering for him. His exams come straight from his notes and connect. Do a lot of problems.
I probably the hardest accounting prof ever, if you looking for semester long torture, he is the guy. he will torture to to death. not recommended at all.
if you looking to lower your GPA, he is the guy! good pick.
He is old school Professor with huge amount of knowledge. However he doesn't know how to teach. I failed this class and changed my major to finance. Because Prof soldano failed teach me. I think many would agree with me, education depends on both parties, if student fails; teacher fails too.
Bring pillow to this class, because he is so boring you will fall sleep. Also bring another pillow for your pillow because it would fall asleep too.
He is nuts, makes fun of students when someone asks a basic question. Dear Prof, we are not CPA already, if we were; would not have been sitting in your boring class.
Hastags chalk talk, hastags boring!
He is a great prof, but you need to work EXTREMELY hard. This is is accounting, not for slackers. His tests are what he teaches in class and from the book. But be caredul about attending every class and dont be late. He is anal about lateness.
He never ends class early not even a minute early. He is extremely boring and make you fall asleep. And then he will show you graphs of how many students in the US sleep during lecture. What a savage professor.
He takes great pride of having 2 masters degree and CPA but he is unable to deliver the knowledge. He is extremely arrogant, doesn't like students who do poor on his exams, he doesn't help them rather he tells them to drop and never take him again. Pitty and sarcastic human being.
He is not recommend! GPA KILLER!
Do yourself a favor, do not take him! He's got his head stuck so far up in his ass, he has lost all his ability to teach. Assuming he doesn't have the ability to begin with!
He is anything but a good Processor. Take him on your own risk, you have been warned!
My Taxation Prof told us a story of his life, when he took Taxation class at a Baruch he hated that class, got a C+. 10 years later, he came back to Baruch as a department Chair, first thing he did as a chairmen is FIRED that Prof. I am so motivated. Guess what I hated this class with Prof Soldano and got a C. last week I passed my CPA! Next...?
He is the worst prof in the history of the college. AVOID at any cost.
Mediocre at its best, take someone else and help yourself.
This is the professor you would want if you are going to study really hard. Never had to study this hard for other subjects. If you want an easy an A, this isnt the class you want. Read the textbooks, go over the hws and the questions which he says will be on the test. STUDY THE STUDY GUIDE.
very nice professor and his exam is very clear which means that he will give you the notes that states out all the topic you need to study for the exam.
focus on his notes you will be fine.
Why the hell this old man retiring? He is ruining everyone's life. Knowing that giving a C could be someones End of Accounting journey at Baruch. He still gives them like a free token at the supermarket. People like him should not be a professor, very arrogant and sarcastic human being.
His exam questions are less difficult than the connect assignments, which are all included in his lectures. very funny guys!
He is a really good professor. Actually the best so far at Baruch. Come to class and take detailed notes and you will fine. Exams have clear review of what's on them and he never tests on the material that was covered. Use the study guide he gives he is not out to get you. Homeworks are reasonable nothing undoable. I would take him again for sure!!
One of the best professor I have met in Baruch. He seems to try his best to help his students, like PPT Presentation-Revised for class lecture, very detail review notes and practice question explanation. I would recommend him to my friends.
He does not give enough time for the quizzes. 35 questions in 40 minutes is a joke. no midterm but weekly quizzes. Don't take this guy.
Weekly homework assignments on Connect and fully MC exams. Pretty fair.
Weekly homework assignments on Connect and fully MC exams "quizlet" . Pretty easy A.
Literally the worst professor in Baruch ever. I would never recommend him for my enemy LITERALLY.
Professor Soldano is a nasty old man who does not care about his students grades unless they are above what the distribution should be. His lectures are dry and would put a crying baby to sleep. The tests are a mix between his lecture which is just the powerpoint and the homework assignment but he does a poor job at explaining both id avoid him
Cons: attendance mandatory and very boring lectures with the same info presented in the ppts and textbook. Kind of mean seems like he doesn't want participation and has it out for people. Pros: Study guides for exams that give a clear idea of what will be on the test, not hard to pass with a A/B if doing the homework and reading the textbook.
