He is the best Math teacher I have ever taken.
Goes through work very fast. Sometimes unclear of what he is doing. Very boring at times.
gives extra credit
this is the first time i have ever actually done good in a math class. he explains everything in depth and the subject matter is also very easy to understand. if you take good notes do every homework and extra credit youll get an A.
This teacher is really organized, and explains everything very clearly. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities plus he is really easy and doesn't take role. I don't see how anyone can fail,if you come to class and take good notes you should pass.
i dont know what about the lower level math classes, but in his calculus class, he ALWAYS make mistakes and realize it like 5 minutes later if none of us say anything! he is VERY unclear and TOO FAST! do not even have enough time to take notes!
He is very specific but a little fast. Good teaching skills, what he reviews will be on the test. Easy class and is a little intimitating with his attitude. Very blunt, good teacher!
Very funny
Too fast. Great notes though, IF you can keep up AND understand what he's saying. Hard quizzes & tests. Very anal about homework. There's a lot of HW and he will collect randomly for points. Doesn't care about attendance. Wouldn't recommend. He's kind of a hard teacher.
very kind teacher! gives a lot of extra credit stuff! but he teaches fast though! but he made intermediate algebra easy for me!
Very patient, ask the class if everyone understands before going onto new material. Offers plenty of extra points, even on exams.
Confusing! Most of the time I didn't have a clue what he was talking about and I found myself going home to reteach myself the chapter so that I could understand. The homework isn't too bad, but the quizzes and tests can really through you for a loop. I agree with everyone, he teaches way too fast!

he is kind teacher, but he teaches very fast. most of us do not get the concept, so we have to read the text book and try to figure out.
Joe, Rocks!! he is the best math teacher out there he is clear and easy to understand he offers extra credit, and color coordinates everything, he is fun and nice,it is not hard to get a good grade in his class.
he skips lots of steps when doing some problems. acts kind of "wierd", he doesn't really explain things that great. he's VERY low key, writes, and expects us to understand. He doesn't collect HW or take roll. I wouldn't reccomend him, take rene if she's teaching.
He was not a very good teacher. He knew his subject, but he is missing a key component that makes a great teacher. He is a horrible communicator. I would recommend to take someone else for Math 50. Only a select few out of 30 people in my class passed it.
What are you guys talking about? I stopped getting math since the 4th grade and Terreri made algebra CLEAR for once. He doesn't penalize for not showing up, nor does he care if you're late. He is constantly asking if anybody has questions, even the retarded ones he'll go over again. Great teacher!
When taking a class, nothing can be more distracting than the teacher, which he is. I have never had a more difficult teacher than him. Everything in his class is hard, from attendance to the tests. One last thing, is he gay?
He's a great teacher I'm not doing so well in his class but it's my own fault for not doing the homework because he doesn't collect it. I haven't taken a math class in 6 years but he made it sooo clear. HIGHLY recommended!!
Just like to reponse in the comment next to mine..Mr. Joe is a nice teacher and his class is not that hard.. Maybe you just don't listen well to him..It doesn't matter if he's a gay, what's important is that he knows how to handle a class well..Another thing,he has a lot of bonus points, specially, every long test, which is very helpful in grades.^_^
He SUCKED
good teacher, not for those without self-discipline (me) because he doesn't take role/collect homework. quizzes are hw questions, but tests can be difficult without enough studying. tries to make sure students are following and is willing to answer any questions, BUT he comes across as very condescending and this can make it hard for some students.
he was a blast to have. tests are direct questions from the homework, he is more than willing to take extra time to explain things, and his office hours are always flexible and convient. he doen't have a hidden agenda or pull any tricks out of a hat....everything with Joe is straight foward and easy to grasp. i highly reccomend him to anyone who needs to take math 71!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a very good teacher. He explains everything very well and outlines it on the board in a way that is easy to follow. He doesn't collect homework but expects you to do it anyways because that is what most of the tests and quizzes are based on. I would highly reccommend this teacher.
You are retarded if you do not pass... he gives a possible 485 points but only counts 350 of it... and 65% is the C... BEWARE: BORING, will answer questions if asked, if not, too bad =[. Tests are out of 60 (only 3. really 67, but lowered to 60), i have a 23, a 33 and a 25, final replaces lowest score, i can pass w/ a 56% =/ hard, but easy grading.
He is a great professor. if it has been a while that you have had any math he is the one to take. i had not taken math for 3 yrs so i forgot a lot of stuff but he is very helpful and easy to approach that i got a B in his class. he doesnt take roll or collect homework but his lectures are very helpful. he also grades on a curve 76-65% is a c!
He's a good teacher. He's very helpful. He explains things clearly and goes in depth so you don't get confused.
He doesn't grade homework & attendance, but he actually grades both of them through quiz & group quiz. His lecture is quite clear & very organized, so if you have plenty of self discipline & hate unorganized instructor, take this dude.
HE IS A HARD INSTRUCTOR!! I WOULD NOT RECOMEND HIS CLASS AT ALL!! WHEN I ASKED FOR HELP, HE WAS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL!!!I WOULD NOT TAKE THIS CLASS AT ALL!! AVOID IF POSSIBLE!!!!!
his gradding is pretty easy, 3 tests and a final, with a few labs and lots of quizes. tests are 66/60 with a final that replaces lowest exam grade... BORING, and damn annoying sometimes. take another teacher, you'll want to.
Bad professor, gets mad if you put your head down, no study guide, tests are overly complicated and the problems on it are more difficult than the problems introduced in class. Bad professor take C.Graham
The stuff he goes over during class and the study guide doesnt really help during the test, and he get easily offended if you put your head down, BUT he did say no one really need to show up to his class, so kind of... werid that he manage his students, and he test if the student really know math instead of the concept of math. VERY VERY HARD TEST!
He is an excellent math teacher. He makes eye contact. He gives clear expectations, study guides, and is very easy to understand.
AWESOME teacher! Easy quizzes and tests!!! Take notes and do your work and you'll PASS!
i took him for math 50 in the spring, i suck at math and he made it really easy for me. He's not hard at all, just do your work, tests are easy if u study and i recommend you do the extra hours in the lab, well worth it, i passed his class with a B. Take him and u'll see what im talking about.
Great and easy teacher . He explains things clearly and gives tons of extra credits. I did not do any of my homework, yet still get an A. HIGHLY RECOMEND!!!
Very good teacher . Explain well and give lots of extra credit , I enjoyed his class a lot
ok so he is a cool guy. but his class is all lecture. if you can handle that then do it but for me it was hard. i had him for one day a week 3 hours. all he did was write on the chalk bored. we never did any problems as a class or anything. test were hard as hell and i just think he was the worst teacher i have ever had. only take him if u your goo
I took him on fridays for spring '10 and his class is very easy! The class is pure lecture! Very boring but you'll learn! He really doesn't care about HW so I didn't do it. He also doesn't care about attendance but show up! Your grade is mostly depended on quizes, group quizes and test! Recommend if you just want to learn how to do your math work!
he is good and explains everything well. no need to turn homework in. doesnt take roll. just 3 test3 and final. one problem quizes. extra credit! good math 50 teacher.
I found this class a bit difficult he material is straight forward but he tends to go fast with lecture Quizzes are one problem and pretty straight forward He does give unannounced group quizzes Test are a bit hard fnal was really hard He knows what he is teaching but still a hard class and has some attitude not approachable
Very organized in lecture. Gives extra quizzes that you can put towards extra credit. Really wants you to succeed.
SHOW YOUR WORK! This is crucial. He failed half of us on the first quiz we took because we did not show work. He even accused us of cheating. He's not a great professor. In fact, many times we would have to correct his mistakes. But it is apparent that he tries hard to teach the lessons. Homework is not mandatory (he doesn't check), but it helps.
He is a very good teacher. I took this class during summer and felt like I learned quite a bit. I got pretty good grades on the tests, and math is definitely not my strong suit. For teaching this class during summer, he did an excellent job. I think that he would be a great professor during a spring/fall semester for sure. I highly recommend him.
I am taking his class this current semester, and he may not be the most patient when it comes to questions mid-lecture, but he is a great teacher and explains math very clearly. I am taking pre-algebra and would freeze when I looked at numbers, and he helped me to change the way I see them. He is...Quite the character. Ha ha.
I ahte math, and this is the best math teacher I have ever or will ever have. He will never make a student feel inadequate or incomprehensive, and is very humble in his knowledge that he is not a human computer. Explains concepts clearly, no homework to be turned in, group quizes are easy points. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
Awesome professor! Though I missed about a month of class because I was recaled to active duty for training and did not end up performing well in the class (a month is a long time to catch up on in a math class)...I would like to state that he is a great teacher and I will definitely recommend him to my friends.
He is nice & a good teacher, but his tests are HARD. Only 3 tests & a final, 10 questions for each test but he picks the most complicated questions for the test. He does give alot of partial credit though so you can get a decent grade on them. I thought I was going to hate this class but it turned out alright. Hw doesnt count but you should do it.
He has a clear, very helpful style of teaching and is a really nice person! Homework is assigned but never checked and is not mandatory...a good thing if you hate homework but can do well on tests and quizzes! ;) It's nice to be able to go to class not worrying about how difficult the material may be simply because he is such a great teacher!
Professor Terreri is by far the best professor I have ever had. I have never done well in math and I received an A in this class, of course I studied and worked hard but professor Terreri keeps math simple, and is very clear in his lectures and on his expectations. He has definitely changed my attitude towards math.
I have no clue what you all are talking about, perhaps its because its simpler math, but for Calculus I didnt like this teacher at all. He goes through about 3-4 sections A DAY pretty much just throwing info at you. Tests are HARD, no Hw which seems good but isnt. I would take a prof more willing to spend time helping you understand.
I will admit, he is a very nice guy and a good teacher, but in a semester class you only have THREE tests and the final (fewer chapts than most summer/winter courses!). No hw which I thought was nice, but its not! Don't understand why. Really counteracts with his good lessons to throw off your grade when he crams 3-4 chapters of info into one test.
lol i thought professor terreri was a little sassy at the beginning of the semester but then i realized that is just how he is. he has no favorites and he doesnt like you talking in class.. i mean why should you talk in class to ask questions? go to tutoring for that. he has to teach everyone and barely has time for his lessons as it is. i enjoyed.
Can't complain. Though he gets annoyed by distractions, he is a good teacher. I don't think his tests are too hard. If you are able to do your homework, his tests will be fair.
He was an okay teacher. Gave hw but never checks it but doing it helps a lot when it comes to test. Gives about 8 ch test, 10 single problem test from the lesson of the day before, and gives group problems that are extra credit. Very cheesy teacher, who gets chalk on EVERYTHING.
Professor Terreri, in my opinion, was a great professor. I was a really bad math student, and because of him, my interest in math sparked and i went from being a D or F student in math to an A-C student in math. He is very excited over math and i reccommend him! I took him twice cause hes great!
He asks if anyone needs help, but when a student asks a question he makes you feel like you're stupid! It made me never want to talk to him again. Only good thing I can say is that he gives extra credit points.
Terreri may seem sassy, and not helpful... he might even shut you out if you have any questions, but he is extremely helpful because he does everything step by step. Attendance and HW is not graded, but be respectful...he is a great dude if he sees you put in the effort. There is mini quizes that show your participation and 3 major test. Take him!
HE DOSE NOT CHECK THE HOME WORK BUT JUST STUDY NOTES.. AND STUDY GUIDE FOR TEST IS ALMOST EXACLTY LIKE THE TEST JUST PAY ATTENTION AND YOUR GOOD AND DOSE NOT CHECK ATTENDANCE I LIKED HIM ALOT BUT HE HAS AN ANNOYING VOICE
His dress is always casual and seems careless to everything, but he did care about you if you try your best. Be aware of the examples he mention on his class, it'll probally one of the question on your test. And he teach really fast, So please don't miss the class.
You can tell he is really passionate about math & wants his students to understand HOW & WHY math concepts work instead of "just do it". When you ask questions he may answer in a way that makes you feel dumb, but he means no harm. I did summer session & the HW was required but he doesn't check. Exams were fairly easy if you know what you're doing.
I'm gonna be honest...Math has been my enemy throughout most of my life, but when I got Joe Terreri for Math 50 last year, he made my life easier. He explains the concepts step-by-step in detail without taking no shortcuts. His lectures at a fast paced but he is clear and concise breaking down the problems. Take him, and you won't regret it.
Taking any class with Joseph is a test of self discipline. This professor does not require you to do homework, or even come to class. However he is an exceptional teacher. If math isn't your strong suit, and makes you want to miss class DO NOT take this professor. If you are disciplined, then he is a wonderful proff. :)
I wouldn't take him if you don't have some math background. He is awfully RUDE to students. If you are on the end of the waitlist, do not expect him to give extra add codes, because he simply won't. He teaches right off the book, and if you have question he will not answer. He has a super annoying voice. Attendance must. Tests almost every class.
The most comprehensive professor I had all semester. He treats math like a philosophy and uses the strangest catchphrases, like Stick around or Fun under the sun or You gotta own it! But overall he keeps you alert on how math really works and its importance to the real world. Take all his classes, study hard and passing is very certain D
Prof. Terreri is very knowledgeable. He covers the material at a very steady manner that is easy to follow. Very easy grader. Very easy class. Definitely would take his class again!
Joeseph is a great teacher! Like I've never understood math as clear as I do now, until I took his class. I tried taking him for 71, but his class is closed! :( if you are on the wait list you miles well not even show up to try and get in because he DOESNT add anyone. That's the only bad thing. If you take him you'll have fun and also learn a lot.
Professor Terreri was extremely clear when he gave lectures. there wasn't any need for questions! so when someone did ask one, he would get a little irritated, but still is very patient with his students. He provides his office hours for extra help. His class is very straight forward, i loved it! would definitely take his class again!!
as a person he is very rude and insulting if you fall behind or show any signs of struggling, as a professors hes alright. i wouldnt recommend though. plenty of office hours and 3 exams.
The best math teacher I've ever had. He lectures are clear and detailed. Homework is not turned in, instead gives one question quizzes almost every week related to the homework. If you ask a lot of questions, he's not for you, he brushes them off and often ends up embarrassing the person asking questions. Other than that, he's fantastic.
Professor Terreri is a great math teacher. He explains what to do, how to do it and why it works. If you put in the effort, you can easily pass
This professor is the best math teacher for algebra, if you are person who never passed algebra in high school because you were lazy but still got the basics, and knew some loop holes in the subject, then this is the perfect professor. He is rude but that is only if you are acting up, easy class no hw, one question quiz every week for points.
Mr. Terreri is the best math teacher I've ever had. He explains everything very thoroughly and simplifies concepts. He can come off as rude, but if you're able to deal with his attitude then you should be able to pass fairly easily. He doesn't collect homework and attendance isn't mandatory. However, he does assign quizzes for points.
very helpful , gives step by steps instruction!
Great teacher, very helpful so long as you visit during office hours.
Great professor! Teaches each lecture step by step. No homework is required.
Joseph Terreri is a good professor, his lectures are explainablel, his group quiz's and quiz's should be easy and test's most students must show their work.
This Professor is great. He makes the math material explainable and does not collect hw. He does give some opportunities to boost your grade such as going to the math lab and has a group quiz. Being in class is not mandatory but if you do go, just don't be disruptive or use your phone because he may kick you out. Overall he is a great professor.
I rated the difficulty as "Easy A" Though I won't be passing the class with an A. I totally could have. He wants You to pass with an A. gives you study guides for test with solutions! Extra credit galore! Doesn't collect homework, doesn't take attendance. Go to class. Don't miss quiz points it's like charity if you miss 0 quizzes. Highly recommend
When it comes to math I run and hide, not with Joe. Very good at teaching each topic clearly & grades easy. You will take 7 one question group quizzes, 7 one question individual quizzes, 3 tests, and one final. He assigns homework but will NEVER collect it. I highly recommend this professor if you struggle in math.
Wouldn't recommend taking him if you're new to calculus. The only "study guide" he gives for exams are one past exam for each exam and no study guide at all for the final except the previous exams.. assigns a lot of homework but never collects. He has a clear teaching style and there's a individual or group quiz every other lecture.
Professor Terreri is the best math professor I ever had. I didn't think I would pass the class, but he makes sure he helps you and gives you the tools to make sure you at least get a C which is 65%. I am very grateful to have taken him!
He is a good teacher, but he packs too much into this class, and goes too fast, we were doing two sections from the book a day. Tests are hard, and although he gives extra and partial credit, he is a very tough grader. He can be a little unsympathetic with students who ask questions, are struggling, or just need a little help.
One of the best math professors I've ever had. I always have struggled with math but if you show up to class, take notes, do the homework (he doesn't collect but its for your own benefit) and do well on exams you will pass. I received an A in his class and the has never happened in math for me. Also, go to tutoring and get extra credit for it!
A solid math professor. Passing is certain IF you are willing to do the work he assigns to you and give a full effor on his tests which are 3 exams and a cumulative final (replaces one lowest exam score). Tests are straight forward since problems are reflective to the homework problems. Take advantage of office hours
One of my favorite math professors! Love the way he teached. Went a little fast at times but nothing too overwhelming. He gives partial credit on exams which helps your score a lot and lets you know about quizzes about a week before so you have time to study. Homework is optional, I never did it and passed the class with an A.
Gives plenty of options to get extra credit, the lecture is very easy. Homework is never collected and the handouts have similar problems on the test. Recommended to anyone.
Professor Terreri is amazing! All I can say is, STUDY and DO THE HOMEWORK! Doing well on the group quizzes, quizzes, and tests can really help your grade! The final exam can be difficult, but as long as you study ahead of time, you'll be fine! He also gives extra credit too! Lectures can be long, but pay attention and take notes well! Good luck!!
Professor Terreri is absolutely by far one of my favorite professers at Mt. Sac. I'm not much of a math person and find it extremely difficult to understand the concepts, but the way he teaches is beyond helpful and easy to understand! The exams and final are challenging, but as long as you do the HW and study guides he gives you. It's a breeze.
joe is the best math teacher ive ever had. his lectures are so good and i really learned a lot from him. though he does give a lot of homework, its not collected. but you should do it anyways cuz all of his test material comes from the homeworks he gives. hes also very organized and a lenient grader, id totally take his class again!
Professor Terreri, is a great teacher. He moves a little fast but if you are actually paying attention, asking questions, and attending class then you will be fine. Although, he does not take attendance I still recommend you do not make a habit of missing since he gives out quizzes pretty often. Overall he is a strict but good professor.
He uses the whole class time to lecture instead and doesn't go off topic which is great. He teaches fast, make sure you keep up. He gives a lot of homework and quizzes. If you study and show up for class, you'll be fine.
Terri is an awesome profesor! His teaching technique is awesome. He gives you a lot of extra credit options. You must go to class if you want to pass, he also gives out a lot of pop quizzes. I do recommend taking him!
His class is very easy. You get a lot of easy points for showing up and group quizzes. The bad thing about him is his Attitude towards students and the examples he shows you are nothing like your quiz. He also curves your grades. Easy class but don't like him as a teacher
His class is not easy . if your not a test person and have test anxiety DO NOT TAKE his class. He does not collect any homework and everything is based on test and quizzes even if you show up everyday he still wont pass you. Since homework is not collected you do not really need your book but if you want to pass do it all.
Do your homework, show up to class, take plenty of notes and above all: listen during lecture. Each example he goes over is pretty much how he wants to see the work done on the tests. Also do the practice exams he gives out weeks ahead of the actual test. Do all this and you'll be fine in his class. Actually a really great professor.
I am the WORST when it comes to math which im sure alot of people can relate.. I took this class and everything clicked for me. He gives alot of extra credit so take advantage of it! He does not collect homework but if you want to do well i highly suggest to do all of it. The tests are hard but if you pay attention show up to class youll pass!
I honestly suck at math but the set up of his class made it easier to pass. He gives you 25 extra points on your final if you go to the MARC. He doesn't count attendance but he gives out group & individual quizzes on certain days (easy points so I recommend attending those days). You take 3 exams but the final exam replaces your lowest exam score(:
His lectures are very well organized, relates topics to real world applications and constantly references previous chapters which helps understand how/why he got that given value. He is a great professor who builds a strong foundation of algebra. You just have to show up to class and put in your dues. take the support class if you're bad at testing
This professor is organized. He clearly lays out all the work in his syllabus. Stickler about using cell phone in class - so unchain yourself from it and pay attention. He goes over everything on the quizzes and exams and passes out Practice Tests to study from. Book is helpful too. You can apply what he teaches to Math 110. Highly recommend
I just started attending his class- with zoom meetings of course and Professor Terreri is genuinely such a good teacher, he breaks down problems on the zoom meetings and is very attentive to students who have questions on specific math problems! So far so good!
Took him for Winter session, class was super easy. 3 sections a day. quizzes are easy and he doesnt use any Proctorio or online exam site like that, do with that information as u will. Overall good decent math professor if u have questions.
The professor does care about his students but, will be tough but fair. Lots of homework and try not to miss any class, or, you won't pass. He relize's if your making an effort and does make himself available for guidance. I go to school to learn and yes I would take him in the future for another math class.
Gives clear and concise lectures and example problems, lists exactly what chapters are covered on tests. Class participation included answering a math problem or two at the start and end of class, 50% credit even if you got it wrong. Dropped lowest test score. Was a generous with partial credit for wrong answers if it was clear you were trying.
I really loved this professor he was a great lecturer and made the work easy to understand. He gave us all the tools to pass but unfortunately I had personal problems to deal with so I didn't pass. He's a solid choice and will definitely help you pass the class
