He is a very good prof. He is very helpful and makes his class easy. His tests are multiple choice and come straight from his notes and study guide.

Totally cool and very helpful. He's very smart and his lectures are insightful. Make sure you go to class because participation effects your grade in his upper level classes.

Dr. Thysell is a very nice and funny professor. I recommend his class. It is both easy and interesting. As long as you study your notes and read the assigned articles, there is no reason not to ace his multiple choice tests.(Very Straight Forward Tests)

Dr. Thysell has all the qualities a student would want in a teacher. His lectures contain the exact material for the exams and he does not take roll! Do not take anyone else for Government 101. Remember, Julia Roberts is the love of his life!

He's the friendliest teacher I've had yet at Nicholls. He's really cool, I only wish the people up front would shut up sometimes so he could finish lecturing without their interjections.

If you know anything about Julia Roberts, you will pass the class. It's not the same old boring class like you have the rest of the day.

He is a great teacher! He really knows his stuff and is really helpful. I suggest you go to class b/c he tends to give bonus points for that a lot. The class was sometimes boring, but he did make it fun and interesting. There is no way you can dislike him.

Dr Thysell is very interactive in his class, and this makes it very interesting. Sometimes we got into debates that took almost half his period but he still made it up. He is also very funny, so if the class is boring u can still laugh at his gestures, "Put this in ur notes, PEOPLE...." Hilarious! Highly recommended! Easy A too!

Very easy class, gives extra 30 points for extra credit assignment, gives study guide, and will answer any questions ask, loves Julia Roberts, it is impossible to fail this man's class.

Anyone who does bad in this class has got to be borderline retarded. There is so much extra credit its not even funny. I needed a 19 on my final to pass with an A. Come on!!!! How easy is that. Plus he's a really nice and easy-going guy. Bring up some kind of current event and you can keep him talking the whole hour.

Tests are not as easy as everyone says, given he likes to ask minor details. However, go to class everyday- he will occasionally give extra points for attending class...Also, DO THE CURRENT EVENTS PROJECT!! How can you pass on 30 extra points. I did horribly on my first two tests, but still managed to pass with a B because of extra credit.

To say that Dr. Thysell is an extremely great teacher and a master of the subject material is a massive understatement. The guy knows it all and passes his knowledge on in a way that is easy to understand. If you fail his class than do yourself a favor and withdraw from college because you don't belong there. Awesome!!! He tends to be all over the place when it comes to writing on the board....and you have to study the book and his notes but he gives a study and guide...and if for some reason you don't do well..do the current event for 30 pnts and you WILL get an A

Dr. Thysell is a wonderful teacher. He will try to explain something to you until he sees that you understand it. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Honestly, his class is very boring. But one of the easiest classes I ever took. Make sure you do the current event. It is extremely helpful. My grade when from a low C to a high A.

Overall, Dr. Thysell wasn't too bad. If you have no interest in government then you won't like the class but it's pretty easy so long as you get the notes down. Most of GOVT 101 is stuff you learned about government in high school so you heard a lot of it before. A bit of a heads up, he puts current events stuff on the test.

His class was pretty interesting for the most part. Do the current event extra credit at the beginning of the semester. It's a God-sent for your grade towards the end of the semester! He doesn't take roll but you need to go to class to do well. Overall great class.

I went to class and sat in the front every day and took decent notes. Try to write down everything he says. No need to even get the textbook. I didn't use mine at all. Do the current event for easy points. On Fridays he would sometimes give us extra points just for showing up if not many people were in class. Funny guy.

To appreciate him you have to be a history or government major. He knows what he's talking about. He doesn't take attendance but if you skip you'll miss a bunch of info.

This man knows what he is talking about, don't let his appearance fool you. He only lectures and you must take great notes to pass his class, but it's easy to do it because he makes it incredibly interesting. Tests are kinda hard and MAKE SURE TO DO THE BONUS! Theres only a few tests and you never know when because he is unorganized, but he's great

Dr. Thysell is great. However, in class lectures are much easier than taking him online. He's the sweetest professor though. Super intelligent. I've loved being his student, he really is a great prof.

To pass with an A, DO ALL OF THE EXTRA CREDIT! It's not hard and will help! There are a total of 3 tests in the class. As long as you take notes, you'll be fine. It doesn't hurt to make friends and do study groups. Thysell knows what he's taking about, has answers to all of my questions. I would defiantly take him again!

Dr. Thysell knows his stuff. Do the two extra papers that are mandatory. Be in class he gives lots of lectures. Write it down it will be on the test. Make friends in case you miss. He's easy to talk to and well respected.

Find a good set of notes for this class. It is hard to take notes from his lectures because he gets off topic easily. Write anything he writes on the board. He has a dry sense of humor. Most of the students didn't seem to get when he was joking. I found him very funny. Do the 2 papers, he only checks that you did them, not the content.

Dr. Thysell is very well respected around campus. Everyone knows who he is and he is a true joy. He is absolutely hilarious with very witty humor. Don't buy the book. He never takes attendance but I wouldnt skip. He tells great stories and he will talk to anyone as long as they want. He truly goes out of his way to form relationships

He does not count attendance, but missing his lectures could hurt you. Lectures go straight into the test and he also gives study guides if the class begs enough so the textbook isnt needed. He tries to make it interesting and he is a very sweet old man. Would defiantly take him again!

I love Dr Thysell. Such a sweet guy and tries to help everyone out. You will be intimidated by the class at first, but show up, participate in reading the cases, FOLLOW THE EXACT INSTRUCTIONS for papers & you'll pass fairly easily. I wish i could take him for most of my classes.

Dr. Thysell is my favorite teacher at Nicholls. Period! If you show up and listen to his lectures, youll be fine on test day. Work with him and he will work with you. Hes so sweet and funny. I always look forward to his classes.

Dr. Thysell is a Nicholls gem. He's well-respected around campus and once in class, you understand why. A very witty, dry, intelligent man. He reminds me of my late grandfather. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Be respectful, participate, and show up to class - you'll be just fine.
