Great guy, very straight-foward. He teaches you what you need to know. There is a mid-term and final and a few quizzes here and there and 1 or 2 hws. Nothing to get stressed about. Overall, if you pay attention you'll do fine. The material isn't that difficult either. He's not there to fail you, he's there to help you.

Overall nice guy, but his teaching method could use some improvement. Because he runs throught the material on the board very quickly and in a haphazard and careless manner, he can be a little difficult to follow. He needs to begin planning his lectures in a more systematic way. Easy to get a good grade but you will not really learn much.
Great Professor
HE IS A DOWN TO EARTH GUY. HE GETS RIGHT TO THE POINT AND MOVES ON. HE SEEMS HE HAS AA LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK SO HE UNDERSTANDS WHERE STUDENTS ARE COMING FROM. TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE. THE TESTS ARE REALLY EASY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU WILL GET AN A.
Also teaches accounting. Great teacher and guy. Understands the students.
Mad cool.. down to earth. Tests are mixed some questions are easy and some harder. Seems to like the students and undertsand that we also work and are fulltimers at school. Take the dude!...good class
I agree tests are easy after the fact, mixture of T/F, multi choice and problem solving. However, the tests seem easy after he reviews them. But not as easy when you take them. Just looked at the grades posted and there are a fair share of B grades -making the tests seem fair. I'm sure he can up the pressure on tests and make most students fail.
Good Professor. Teaches the class. Gives quizzes after a few chapters from notes. No homework. His MT/Final are not that easy you must study for these exams. Go over the notes and the chapters thoroughly.
He cuts out alot of book fluff, but teaches what you need to know. Great at breaking down complex book problems into easier problems and will cover them a few times in order to make you understand. No Homeworks - :) and dropped lowest quiz. The test/quiz are straight forward but he throws in some tricks to keep grades in check
I am not sure who has been rating this Guy. There was only 15 people in the class at the end. Late everyday. Got the Free Cash Flows definition wrong. Had a serious disagreements during the class. Ho Ho Ho. Folks Good Luck!!! Then worries that he will be rated poorly on teacher evaluation so stand and watch as you fill out evaluation form. Sad!
If you want to learn take other accounting class. If you have time to waste, take him. He gave John Deere annual report on the final and didn't even really know what John Deere Account Receivable. Sorry not much really good say.
Obviously the two previous posts are from one of my disgruntled class mates, whom has very poor writing skills. I earned an A, and must say he curves and is fair with grading. He also beats the topics to death and wants you to learn through many examples. He does arrive late roughly 7 for a 6:55 class, but he mentioned this during the first class.
good class...practical. teaches from work experience not just academic background. I agree with the below post, the disgruntled student is off mark. There was no problem with deere receivables?? (not sure what they are talking about. While the FCF was isolated to one question on one test. From what I recall roughly 1/2 class got it right..NO BIGGIE
You have to really follow his examples and notes he teaches. Don't need a book, because his exams based on the notes. Thus, write down everything he goes through and you'll be Ok. 2 exams (10-15 Q. each) & 2 quizzes (8 each) pay attention to NOTES' DETAILES & go over all examples he explains in class. Good luck!
Good class.. very real world. Teaches a lot and the most notes I have ever taken. MUST PAY ATTENTION AND WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING!!! If you get lost ask him, he will explain the concept until you get it. Fair teacher. If you don't understand a topic, you need to ask as lessons flow into each other. Without asking you could easily trip your
His exams are hard, so you have to be thorough with the notes he gives. He gives no partial credit for problems, but gives a curve if needed. It seems that he's the only one that teaches this class, so cannot be avoided.
Great professor. Applies the course material to actual data that helps you understand better. Write clear notes from lectures and you will pass his exams. 2 exams with extra credit and 2 quizzes which he gives you exact dates on first day of class. Really nice and interacts with his students very well.
Very smart guy, teaches from a real world perspective. I finished the class and realized that not just ivory league students can become analysts. Be prepared to do a lot of work. I learned more in this one class than in almost four years of my other classes . Obviously he has worked at an investment bank or some other financial institution
I love this guy. However is very tough no joke
just took the midterm, which seemed fair. It was more nerve-racking than anything. When he goes over it ... much easier. I have to admit everything was covered in class. Just don't get nervous; his tests are daunting looking
Suggestion take the class to learn something, but don't take it because you think it may be easy. It is not easy. I have learned more in this class using real world, albeit real world techniques, than all the past 4 years of finance classes. Prof Vince has real world experience and it shows.
pay attention, funny, but dude is intense
just gave us a quiz that he allowed us to work in groups which is pretty cool. Not sure how we did though lol
I am sad this class is over, I learned more about financial statements in one class than in four years
The class gave him a group hug... We love him!
Just got an A. Pay attention, write tone of notes, record the class and read the book. He is very fair... tests are scary. This class is not for the feint of heart. However, he does a good job of breaking apart difficult material we can utilize in real life
I think the class work material is tougher than I have experienced previously. I am a senior and learned plenty. My advice is to not come with the typical class attitude. I am actually recovering the material because I feel as though this material can be applied on an upcoming job interview :)
Thumbs UP! You MUST review material during the week or weekend following the class, or you will get steamrolled. A lot of material so class should be in two sessions Financial Statement Analysis 1 & then Part 2 the following semeter
I just ran into him at the mall, and it reminded me that his notes and texts are the only books I kept after graduating. This info is useful. Class is good.. come in prepared for a lot of work.
Finally took a class that was just not book-based. The school needs more people that work in the real world!!!!!!!
pay attention and ASK ASK ASK questions... If you get lost he will help you. The work is not easy. If you are looking for easy, take another class.
I was shocked. In last week's class, he said he pushes us hard because he wants us to get jobs. he also said he does not like to see his students working in Pathmark after they graduate. Finally someone who cares! Just a note, he is not easy. Be prepared to work hard
holmes is not easy but mad kewl This is real life stuff. class is real hard. no one ever taught this stuff in a real scenario
I'm actually learning things for once. Was getting tired from all the other finance and accounting classes of just reading the text book ...
I learned more in this class than the rest if my classes cumulatively, it is NOT AN EASY CLASS! However, he is a fair grader. By that he knows his tests are hard but seems to curve to an average. If you read the books, follow his notes and brush up weekly this is an awesome class is you want to make it to wall street
worked my backside off just got an A
funny guy, but class is very hard. You need to form study groups. He treats you like you work on wall street. This is no nonsense class. Toughest class I ever took
i admit I failed but I did not study hard enough. i can only blame myself. good class material and good professor. I revisited the material after I failed the class and just made money in the market.
Class is good but way too much work and reading. You must read. If you take good notes and portions of the chapters he is teaching you will do fine. I liked to ask questions after class and he was accommodating to that
I learned from my friend who took the class previously that you need to link the previous chapters with the current one. While each chapter is distinct, I was told to relate it to the previous ones. This helped me a lot. Word of advice read the chapter prior to class ... it helped me a bunch. This was good material that I currently use at work
The class was very hard and he gives tons of notes. My hand still hurts. Fair grader and if you like wall street type stuff then this is a good choice. If you are not interested in wall street take something easier. Great guy, good to talk to and knows his stuff. Most classes at CSI are easy so that is what I am used to. this was very hard
He is a dream. Handsome, smart and funny. I'll fail just to take him again.
He is a dream, VERY CUTE! I'll fail just to take him again.
This class is hard. Like climbing up a hill coated with grease. I get the work, which is a ton. Ton of notes and mentally taxing!
We just received our first quiz back, and am happy I got a 95. I must say this class is the hardest class I have ever taken at CSI. However, I am learning so much. Not to beat up on my peers, I think you need a rather strong financial acumen to follow along in this class. If you are not a strong B+ or A student, you don't have a chance
this guy is hilarious, tough but I am learning so much. I agree with the previous poster that as I look around class the students are not used to being quizzed at such a high level. The prior classes only taught text book work with professor who never worked off campus. Big difference when a Prof is also working in the field.
Great class, great professor. Be prepared to work hard, very vey hard
Studying for final and am scared beyond belief. This is like the most intense finance class I've taken at the school. This is like working on wall street.
Posted grades. To me he was very fair in grading. I got higher than I think I deserved but his final was mad hard and it was really real world scenario. I did learn a lot.
If you miss one class you will be lost. Very intense lectures but you learn a lot. BUT keeps you way later than he is supposed to. Gave a group final but it was way harder than anything we took in class and took hours past class to finish.
I agree keeps you later at times. Lectures are insanely intense.. there is a lot to learn from him. Tests and quizzes are tough but he is fair grader. One of the best teachers at the school. Utilize his knowledge
Hardest grade I ever earned. Well worth it at the end. I learned a ton. This class was not a joke. Miss a class and forget it, you will be blown away. You must pay attention every minute of the class. If you are looking for cruise control on easy elective, I would not take this class. Take only if you want to learn finance.
very hard but if you like finance and analysis this is a great class. it combined background material to support what we were doing in class. Very easy to get lost if you miss class, don't pay attention. My friend did and compared it to quick sand. Pay attention and ask good questions
Drink coffee. He is like a speeding bullet. BE PREAPRED TO WRITE WRITE WRITE MORE NOTES THAN EVER. Learned a lot of finance
My buddy took him. He is very hard, but my friend said it is so worth to study and take this class. He said just read and stay on top of the work t be fine
I am now a month into this class and have to say it is very interesting, a different perspective. A lot of work thus far. However, he seems to go out of the way to make it easier on the class.
Good Class BUT Very Hard. Tons of Work. Learned More This Year Than Past 4 Years In All Finance Classes.
I have to say this class took a lot of my free time, but worth it. He covers a lot but my advice is you must study the material within a few days of covering it given the superfluous amount of notes. He keeps you abreast of news and asks questions a few times a week. Despite the time, if you love finance take this class. U MUST REVIEW WEEKLY!!!
The work load is overwhelming. you must be dedicated and willing to read a lot. Very fair professor, it seems like he can easily make the class impossible but he does not. You must know basic accounting and some advanced financial concepts before coming into class.
Super difficult but learned tons . Have 2 commit time to this class. learned more than all past classes combined. dedication is needed or don't take it.
this class has given me the best foundation to learn financial statement analysis. Too bad he does not teach a part 2 of the class. the semester is too short.
mad hard but you can learn a ton from this guy. funny and he is down to earth. the man don't play games. good luck
everyone says he is hard but if read the book and review the notes you will do fine. my decided to wait a few days before the tests to review and it was not a good idea. my advice start early to get a good grade,
equation: just read text+ listen + take notes + ask questions my A-
just started this semester, but he questions the class and repeats the work to drill it in. I like his style of teaching
I learned so much from him in such short period of time. The school of business needs more professors like him. I changed my major mid-semester, so I had to drop the class.
leaning so much . after this class I think my previous professors are stuck in a book and have limited real life expertise
hard but worthwhile
If you are an A student, you will get an A :) but my friend who is not an A had to work really hard to get an A-. You must read the book, this is the toughest class in CSI. I attended SUNY Binghamton and this is a good class. I just don't think students had this level on intensity, so it is hard for them.
This class isn't at easy A, so get ready to work. Textbook is required, but get ready to take many notes as they are essential to pass his quizzes and exams. Midterm and final with two quizzes in between, they are tough but he curves! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHEAT IN HIS CLASS. Also keep up with the group chat, he offers lots of extra credit.
A real gem, the school of business is lucky to have him!
I agree the class is not an easy A but achievable if you work hard. I also agree the school is lucky to have him - by far the best professor I ever had at CSI. He loves you to learn and get ahead in life. Don't cheat - he will catch you and make life hard. The class witnessed this twice. He gives real life work.
learned so much but you just need to work hard. if you goof off, you will be left in the dust.
just listen to him and take a lot of notes and start studying from the start and you will be fine. if you don't understand something he will explain it until you get it. He is intense so don't be intimidated.
Best finance professor in CSI. I wish he taught more courses here!
I agree he is def the best professor here. Has actual experience that be layers into class.
Class is a few weeks in. I love this guy. He knows his stuff, but he gives you pre-quiz and constantly asks the class questions... very cool and down to earth.
I must say this is one of a few classes that I have taken that will help me in my profession. Quizzes and tests are very hard but he is more than a fair marker. He teaches a lot of material, so I suggest to read and study as you go or you will get lost and quick.
very hard, a lot of work... have to b finance geek
He is a pain in the backside but I finally get it he wants you to learn. The class is manageable if you keep on top of it. He tries to teach you the most in a short period of time -the class was broken out over two semesters or have two classes per semester - Part I & II. We did cool stuff like look at companies. He brings work exp to the class
Took Prof J last semester for finance 111. He is knowledge and a very good professor. I am now in acc 315, which is a very good class to follow 111
I am still waiting on my grade and have to say he teaches finance very differently. I mainly am used to book theory. He applies the concepts from the working world.
Awesome, School of Business needs more professors like him
funny as hell... but knows everything, class is very hard.
Understanding, nice and I have more notes than any other class. I find it interesting that you learn how corporations operate and fund their operations. Interesting and new material.
I am in agreement with last post. Professor is very understanding and I also have more notes than i ever have taken before. The material is challenging and I am glad I learned this before taking level 1 of the CFA exam. I do find it interesting in learning the ins and outs of corporations.
Okay Ill try and not be biased here. If your taking this professor for FNC 111 and its onces a week. DO NOT TAKE. Only take if you enjoy being graded on tests that are a maximum of 7 questions and a midterm of 7 question, final was 20 question. There is no review. Hes a funny guy, sloppy hand writing, wont keep you until last minute. Avoid.
Sorry I posted last post and misunderstood its prior post. The Professor is really good. He is funny but like if you feel comfortable with taking short exams he is great. If u need a lot of questions then stop. He said less questions makes u study more bc u r not sure what he may focus on .. I agree dont get called out.
Grades are in and the class is tough but grades are more than fair. Im ringing in 2020 with a smile. Tremendous learning, quizzes and tests are hard but we covered everything and the professor is fair marker. He changes exams each year old tests are useless. Dont cheat or he will catch you and make life tough
Do not take him. I think he is a decent person but just not a good professor. He is knowledgable but doesn't have the patience to teach and he gets mad if someone doesn't understand. Avoid.
Really learned a lot and it was a pleasure to be in class. Gives extra credit and curves. No homework, but study material he asks a lot of questions in class. Don't get caught off guard.
he is great and cares that you get a job. i have two interviews coming up based on what we learned in class. :)
The guy is a good professor he can be a little strict at times but with everything that was going on he was pretty easy for most things. Be ready if he calls on you though because if you arent prepared hell be hard on you. Lectures drag on longer than they should.
he tried hard but like all my classes online learning and teaching seems challenging. i think he is a good professor and did his best during the corona virus.
good professor
if you are taking this class for your degree requirement DO Not take this he will trick the midterm and the final so bad that you think you will pass but eventually you will fail. He tricks you like it is halloween everyday. He is super loud and is very strict on his students .10 questions of midterm due 2hours but watch you still FAIL...
He is a bit tricky on questions but the class is very informative if you are looking to understand financial reports and statekents
The professor is understanding, gives real examples, and is available to answer questions. He stays after class if you have questions. It's hard but not impossible to get in touch with him during the week but the class uses the Groupme app and he does eventually get back to you within a day or so. Flexible testing, questions are from his lessons
He is tough but he curves and grades back are more than fair... so far I'm at an A- Been in the financial industry and the what is taught is so practical... a lot of work, but the Professor breaks the work into simple to understand examples... learning a ton... great class to take.
Solid professor, learned a lot. He goes beyond the class time to deliver good material.
Currently taking him right now and I love his lectures. Only take him if you wanna learn and consume valuable knowledge from this professor about Accounting & Finance, otherwise go get yourself a typical read the textbook type of professor.
I luv this guy. the material is great, but the lessons are from a professor who knows this from a real world perspective...no joke
I've used class lecture material on job interviews to answer questions. This was like a financial statement boot camp, glad I took the class. He gives extra credit, requires some homework. However, well worth the efforts. Nice guy who cares. Don't get lost in the work as it's hard to catch-up
Professor Vinciguerra and Professor Galetta are the best! I've learned so much from both professors. Professor V brings an interesting perspective combing both accounting and finance into the course. I've learened so much and well worth the effort I put in.
Good teacher and gives breaks as far as extra credit and curves exams and quizzes. More than understanding.
Professor Vinciguerra is a great teacher and a good person. His teaching style will prepare you for jobs that involve using financial statements. Grade is based on a few homework assignments, 2 exams & 2 quizzes. He also offers extra credit. I definitely would recommend taking this class. Pay attention, and take notes - you will do well
Solid professor and good choice. Take notes and ask ? Q's if you get lost.
This class has a lot of interesting work. Not easy of a class, but Professor Vinciguerra makes it interesting and keeps the class alive. Not to much accounting is needed in my opinion, but it's definately helpful.
This class has a lot of material be prepared to write a ton of notes, some self study is needed, curves exams, and offers extra credit. With all that said, I've learned a lot and the class is a good choice for serious accounting and finance students. Very understanding and nice professor.
Professor V is a great teacher - his lectures are engaging and you'll learn a lot. Use Unstuck AI alongside the textbook for effective study prep. Definitely worth the effort.
Professor V offers a class in which I learned more than any other class.
Made learning fun
Not an easy class but the professor gives enough chances and extra credit. By far, a very interesting class, and I learned more in this class than most of my finance classes cumulatively.
This class is by far my favorite course that I've taken, and thee professor is very understanding and is lenient with the grading. However, paying attention is critical not to fall behind. Very knowledge and applies a realistic and pragmatic approach to financial statement analysis.
Professor V's class is very interesting -he introduces a nice mix between accounting & finance -he is more than fair in grading --he gives a lot of notes to write -I like that he offers the classes on Zoom for review when I missed class -He is a stickler for HW, it's not a ton. -My recommendation, pay attention, do HW, and try to not miss class
