yes he does go fast, but he is there for you if you need help and he is more willing to take the time with you than alot of professors... this is my 2nd class with him and I like his teaching style, and willingness to help..how much more can he do( if you have him you know what I mean)

Absolutely LOVE him so much im taking him again next semester for PreCalc Alg. He does go fast and it does help to have some previous experience in Trig. He is very concerned on if you know the material so he helps you a lot. Very easy going and funny. Loves participation.

Good teacher he will work out the problems until you get them. Make sure you speak up in his class he likes that and will see that you are trying, then he'll go out of his way to help you out.

I had him in the fall for prep math. He was an awesome teacher. He will do everything in his power to get you to take the exit exam. If you have a problem on something he will spend time on it until you understand it.

Mr. Wakim came in to teach my int. alg class when Norwich left to have surgery. After he came I understood the material. He's a great teacher and willing to help you with anything your having a problem with. I deff reccomend him to anyone who's not awsome in math. So far, my favorite teacher, also hillarious and keeps the class fun.

Great guy, really nice and helpful at times. Class requires you to pay attention or you will easily fall behind and never get back on track. As long as you attend the class and pay atention to what he does you will do fine

Funny as ****!! Here is a tip. If u suck at math, ask him questions during or after class and let him get to know u and familiarize ur face, cuz when ur failing his class, go up to him before finals, act worried, and he will pass u with a C.

This was a very good teacher once you got past his accent. He is helpful and willing to listen to his students when they need extra help. He is passionate about what he teaches. His test usually contained 30-40 questions about what you just learned and he posts practice tests for you online that are extremely helpful.

Prof Wakim is slightly hard but is am excellent teacher. He is more than willing to spend extra time to assist. A GREAT teacher.

He is a great teacher, sometimes moves fast however will take all the time in the world to help you or go over it again and again for you, Tells you not to be intimated by the math problems. Wish I could take all my math classes with him. Took online still held classes if you choose to come not mandatory. Great teacher

He goes out of his way to help. Took the class online but he is available by phone and office. He has videos that walk you through the problems. He does realtime help online, if you have q's he will answer them and explain how to do them. At the end of semester there were 2 in person help sessions for the exit test. Get the book with software pkg.

Mr. Wakim is a great teacher. He is more than willing to go out of his way to help with any topics you are struggling with, and his lectures are always practical and easy to understand. It is obvious Mr. Wakim's #1 priority is his students. It's because of him and his class that I decided not to give up, and pursue many upper level Math classes.

Professor Wakim is great when you need help. He will meet with you whenever he can. He wants you to pass his class, has a good sense of humor too!! Although I would NOT recommend the online class unless you are a math wiz...I spent a lot of time getting help from him and the learning lab.

Took the online class it was very difficult. I learned a lot thanks to math xl do not buy the textbook because you don't need it. The tests were very difficult.

If you want to learn Algebra; if you struggle at all; if you have the chance to get in his class TAKE IT! Excellent teacher!

I did not pass hes class, but it was my fault. You need 18/30 to pass exit test only got 15/30, so have to take calss all over again. Im trying to get bac int his calss because he is that good. Excellent teacher.

At first I had a lot of difficulty understanding the way he teaches. But as the class went on, I realized that he really cares and will go WAY out of his way to make sure you understand. He does have a good sense of humor. There is some work involved; he doesn't hand out As. But I felt overall satisfied with the experience.

College Algebra Online. Very helpful teacher but could use better organization. Drowned in directions towards too many ways/places to study. Syllabus mess, dates in Angel, mathxl off and changing. Didn't use my expensive book. Used mathxl online only + tutor 4 survival. Accounting types may enjoy the mathxl snoozer (stone-age without graphics).

Professor Wakim is a great teacher! As stated, he will go out of his way to make sure you know the material and learn from it. I struggle with Math, but his online format and all the help made it very easy for me to learn, as long as I put forth some effort. Kudos to a great teacher!

Great teacher. He went out of his way to make sure I would pass. I only knew basic arithmetic prior to taking this course. Learned it all, re-took tests, and fully absorbed College Algebra with a teacher who treats students how they should be treated... Customers.

online class, wish he would teach me to cal III love this class. Do the homework and the study plan, don't slack off it's math you have to learn equations, or you will not do good. If you take him online or have access to mathxl do the study plan it has helped me immensely make an A in his all his classes I have taken.

Professor Wakim is an excellent instructor. The assignments were manageable, but not extremely difficult. He responded to emails within a timely manner. The final exam was almost all multiple choice questions.I highly recommend this professor.

If anyone at BCC/EFSC is looking for a really good math teacher, take professor Joe Wakim. He's absolutely amazing. I'm taking an online math class and getting a higher grade than I would if I were taking the class face-to-face. He's completely willing to work with you and do whatever is necessary to get you the grade you deserve. Two thumbs up!

Prof Wakim is by far the best math professor at BCC/EFSC I have had. He reposnds quickly to messages and has an abundance of help sessions for you to attend (even with an online class). He doesn't want to see his students fail and if you don't understand the way he explains the problem he will find an outside source to help. Just do the work.

Pros: Very helpful in discussion board posts, if you send him an email he will respond back in like 5 minutes, and he gives extra credit if you redo 2 of the problems you got wrong on a test. Cons: doesn't have any of his lectures online, his tests sometimes differ from the practice tests, 5! proctored exams for an online class is way too much.

Professor Wakim is an excellent online math instructor. However, there a WAY too many proctored exams (5!) and they are not 100% like the practice tests, so you must actually know the material. I got an A, but I worked really hard.

Precal w/Trig is a challenging class. I suspect the significant difference between practice tests and real tests has to do with moving from MathXL to MyMathLab. Wakim responded incredibly fast to emails any day of the week, even late into the evening. He will do whatever he can to help you. Really great teacher!

Excellent teacher! Probably the best teacher I've ever had. Very knowledgeable and thorough. Always available to answer questions via chat or email, even after school hours and on weekends. Grants a small amount of forgiveness on missed test problems if the student can give corrections. He seems to genuinely care about the success of his students.

I took the precalc/trig combo class online, and it had more work than my other math classes combined. On average there were 5 assignments a week, and they each took hours to do. I really didn't like this class, but he was quicker to respond to emails and questions than any other teacher I have ever had.

This class was challenging on its own. He was very responsive, even on the weekends. All of his practice tests are closely related to his exams. As long as you do your work and properly study, you will pass. He is very good about answering any questions. I have yet to have another instructor that is as responsive as him.

I took his online Trigonometry last summer, if you don't get and A you're not trying. All the test in this class are proctored, however before each test there is an online practice test that has an identical format for the real one. He also offers 10 make-up points on every test if you show him the correct answer and how you got it (in detail).

Professor Wakim is an excellent teacher! He is really there for his students. I have nothing but great things to say about him.

It's an online advanced math class, of course it was a bit tough. The only complaints I have are with the Pearson MyMathLab site, and they are very minor. I had very little interaction with Professor Wakim, but he certainly makes himself available if you do need him.

Mr. Wakim is very helpful and gives you a lot of chances to make up missed points. The only downside is the program we used to learn was very buggy making doing work frustrating sometimes. I was pleasantly surprised by this class since I've never been an online class person. If you are bad at math this is the class to take to help you understand.

The majority of your grade will come from three tests and a comprehensive final exam. You will pass if you work hard on his practice tests, as they are similar to the proctored tests. Also, before every test, there is a discussion board assignment during test week. You will have to submit a tough math question and respond to two posts.

-Tests make up most of the overall grade, and they are similar to the homework assignments and quizzes. -He is very responsive to inquiries. -About three or four tests (I can't remember) and a comprehensive final exam. One test is taken at home, while the rest are taken at the school.

Great professor, and always there to help. I've always struggled with math, especially tests, and instructor Wakim is always there to offer advice and help. He has the class set up so that discussions are a must, you need decent test grades to pass, but keeping up with your homework can help maintain a decent class average.

I took Professor Wakim for 2 online Math classes. He was very helpful and always answered questions in a way that you could understand. All of the work was done in MathLab and there were 4 Proctored Tests a semester. All of the tests are based on the practice tests he has you take for quiz grades. He also offered extra credit on tests.

Prof. Wakim is a very kind individual. He is always pleasant. This was his first time teaching a face-to-face class and he did very well! There was a lot of homework and MyMathLab is required. Use the textbook to study, too, as there are heavily-weighted tests.

I basically taught myself, but that seems normal for online math. 4 tests & a final; all proctored but 1. Only a calc & paper allowed. He lets you make up 2 pts per test by correcting a mistake made. USE THE "STUDY PLAN" in mymathlab (where everything was done). Do not let yourself fall behind; I did & it was tough to catch up, but used study plan.

I dont recommend taking an online trig class unless you're ready for hours of studying, or go to a math tutor. I liked Joseph Wakim as a professor though, he answered emails quickly and gave partial credit on some questions if you asked. He also lets you correct two test mistakes. His grading system was harsh though (4 tests50%, hw10%)study hard!

Although this was an online class, this professor is very involved. He genuinely wants to help you learn difficult topics and wants you to succeed. VERY good at responding to emails, no matter what day or time. Keep in mind, the online coursework is extremely time consuming and requires a lot of daily dedication in order to complete it on time.

Doing Coll Alg online was extremely difficult for me, especially with 4 proctored tests and your final is proctored. But, Wakim gives you the opportunity to correct two questions from each texts and gives you a significant amount of points back for that. The way everything is weighted also helps alot. hes an amazing teacher who wants you to do well

I loved my class with Mr. Wakim I took college algebra online. you will have 3 assignments, one quiz , and one dissociation every week and three tests. Some people will think it's too much but that will help to keep the student on track.

A great trigonometry teacher. I had an awful one before this, so I decided to take trig online and it was the best decision of my life! The class is easy, and everything is repeatable so you won't have a choice but to reinforce it in your head. There is tons of extra credit to be had (You can submit two mistake fixes per test, giving you +10% on it

Good prof who sends lots of emails. Can sound rude in them but really isn't. Is VERY helpful if you ask questions about anything. You get test corrections for the proctored test which helps grades. Would recommend Prof. Wakim for pre-calc with trig

I pick all my teachers from here. Professor Wakim was the best one so far. He is very pro when it comes to assisting a student to understand and get the best grade. He even walks you through midterm and final, with the same questions you will eventually be proctored on. If you get anything lower than an A then your just lazy.

This teacher by far is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He will bend over backwards to help you and make sure you succeed. He truly cares. He will tutor you. Answer all of your questions. He really is amazing.

I learned online math was not good for my learning style. However if you are pretty good at math this class will be easy for you. Teacher emails back very quickly and communicates very often with announcements. There was two proctored exams on ProctorU Auto. My biggest tip is if you struggle in math and need to take it online GET A TUTOR.

Took him for college trig. The class was hard, but prof was really understanding, he gave extra point where he could for the proctored tests. I asked for a bit of extra credit on one of the not proctored,, and he gave it. Helped me when i couldn't figure out how to use proctorU the first time. Responded to emails fast, and offered help when asked.

All assignments were through MyMathLab and there were two hard proctored exams that really dropped my grade. He isn't really understanding but I ended with the grade I was hoping for so I can't really complain. However I would not take this class again, I would look for someone else.

Not gonna lie this is a hard class, but easy to pass if you do the work. If you do the discussion boards and get 100% on the practice quizzes you should be good. The teacher is very understanding. For 2 of the 3 tests, I didn't have the homework done for a couple of weeks prior and he still let me complete the homework and the test without penalty.

Online class and uses My Math Lab. Weekly discussions are easy. Professor answers questions quickly and is very encouraging. Took him for two classes and would absolutely recommend!

Good professor. Lots of teaching yourself through MML. Responds to emails super quickly, sometimes instantly. Homework is super time-consuming. 5 proctored tests, and offers practice tests with multiple attempts so you can get a good grade on the actual test. If you run out of attempts for the practice test, you can ask for more.

I took his class online. He is a really good professor. He emails you back quickly. However, if you take his class, especially five credit classes, make sure that you are taking only 2 classes along with his class so that you will have time to complete his homework assignments and study for the test.

I am not sure why some people gave him a bad rating. He allows for extra credit and will give good feedback on the weekly discussion assignments. This course was heavy on testing, but if you do your work and understand the concepts you will pass. Watching the videos that were assigned was a big help.

Pretty Good Teacher

Professor Wakim mainly just teaches through the textbook online. But if you need help and communicate with him you will pass. I'd say the worst part of the course is that you gave to use honor lock and that program has crashed multiple times.

Professor Wakim was a good professor. It is hard to find math professors who offer good feedback, which he did pretty well. The grading criteria is clear. You have to put in the work and study the material yourself, but if you have any questions, he will reply quickly. Tests are the most important things in the class.

Professor Wakim is one of amazing math professors. He is, flexible, and very supportive if you reach out. His response time is incredible; he replies to emails almost immediately. The class does require self learning, so be sure to watch the Pearson videos and complete the MyMathLab homework on time. Exams are proctored with Honorlock.
