Awesome teacher explains everything thoroughly.
Very helpful and funny in his own way. He really knows what you need to know and teaches accordingly. He is very easy when it comes to grading tests but you still need to know the material to get a good grade. Excellent teacher.
Not helpful at all, class was difficult to understand, all we did was go over homework.
Extremely nice guy, explained the material clearly and had a great sense of humor. Most importantly he taught us how to "Dodge the bullet."
Very nice guy, always willing to help outside of class. If I hadn't taken calc and trig in high school, I would have been lost when learning new material. But the tests are not surprising and its easy to get an A. Do your homework.
good teacher. he knows what hes talking about!

He is the best teacher ever. He will explain everything to you and has the easiest tests ever. I highly recommend him for any math course
His class is very easy and he is such a great teacher. I would recommend him for any class
He knows his math, is incredibly willing to help, and loves his job. Do your homework and you're golden. A really nice guy.
Brilliant professor of mathematics, explains things well, grades fairly.
The class wouldn't be difficult if this guy wasn't such a jerk. He criticizes EVERY mistake you make, making comments about how your work is, and I quote, "bull sh*t." He DOES tell you what you do wrong, which is helpful, but he makes you feel like (in his words) an "****" for it. I would recomend avoiding him at all costs.
He wants you to learn the material. Your progress reflects on him, and he wants you to do well. He actually cares; this is rare in college. He's a good man, and I appreciate this is a teacher.
Great professor. When scheduling classes for next semester, he was my first choice. If you can, i would take him without a second thought. Hes really nice and every so often he tells really funny stories during class! tests are a joke and hw is as well. all you need to do is know how to do it and you will be set from there
Class was really easy, and if you do do any work, he will help you on what you dont understand, class was great, and sometimes he wont show up or let you leave as soon as you arrive, take him if you can.
He is a very smart man and knows what he is talking about. He will go out of his way to help you and he will give you the grade you deserve. He is very funny and makes the class an enjoyable one. Just make sure you do the homework and give it an honest effort and you will do well on it and in the class! AND KNOW DEFINITIONS!
If you are a Texas Longhorns fan you are in.........he loves Vince Young and will talk about sports the entire class so initiate the conversation
He is a great professor and knows his math. He likes to engage in conversation with his students. Homework is your basic do the required problems and get 10 points. KNOW DEFINITIONS! He explains everything that will be on the tests. There are no tricks. Attendance is not mandatory but it behooves you to come. Take him for math.
very helpful and nice guy....often cancels class or dismisses early!!
Take him! hes really easy and nice. if you do your hw, which he almost always collects, youll know how to do the problems and do fine on the test. he goes over and reviews the day before, so ull know exactly what to expect. GREAT teacher!
He is the absolute man!!!! I hate math, but he made it so easy to follow. I could not have survived prob stat if he wasn't the teacher. I would take another class with him in a heartbeat!!!
Prof Worthington is the best! If you aren't a math major then you should definitely take him for ANY math he teaches. He's not always clear in explanations, but definitely makes up for it. He wants everyone to pass, and even gives bonus points if a lot of people don't show up!
Mr. Worthington made math another passion of mine. I declared a math minor after having this man for class, he is that good. His tests aren't the easiest in the world, but they come right from notes and examples, just with a different twist on them. Take him if you can for any math class. He a passion for teaching, that all teachers should have.
I switched to a math major because of Mr. Worthington's inspiring classes. You can tell he loves math and he instills a sense of love in every student. An excellent teacher and a great story teller, Mr. Worthington is worth transferring to experience.
The absolute boss when it comes to Duq math. Decided to switch to a math double major because of his awesomeness. Great personality and teaching style, Worthington does a great job conveying concepts and is probably the best overall teacher I've ever had. I'd take any of his classes regardless of what it is.
hes the orst math teacher i have ever had. brilliant man but can't teach. he also trash talks his classes to other classes of his. makes you feel uncomfortable to ask questions.
A GREAT TEACHER; one of the best teachers i ever had. Hated math before him; he is super helpful. I would definitely recommend!
He is a great teacher, who is willing to spend extra days on subjects if the class as a whole doesn't understand them. He makes math interesting, and understands if some students are further then others, and allows those who grasp the concepts to phase out, while the other students continue to learn the material. A great teacher overall.
Took calculus in High school and struggled with it. Have him as a teacher helped me so much. He knows what he is talking about and makes class easy to understand
Great teacher, I love his class. He sometimes gets off topic talking about football and oftentimes give Fridays off because we are ahead of his syllabus.
Fantastic professor. I never took trig, but he was able to work with me and teach me calc. He was always willing to help me outside of class. Some of his tests were a little rough, but hey I never took trig. Very intelligent, and loves football. He is a must take professor for any Math!
i took calc 1 and 2 in high school and did well. But prof worthington did an amazing job and was very personable and helpful and kept my interest. An amazing professor!
Loved him. Take his course. Give him a raise. Need i say more?
Mr. Worthington is one of the few teachers that cares about and respects his students. He is willing to help any student. He is a brilliant man and his tests, although my class had take home tests, were relatively difficult. I believe everyone in my honors calculus class received at least a B. Enjoys football, and is not hesitant to cancel class
Great awesome teacher, who knows absolutely everything about math and knows how to explain it. He also sounds like Marlin from finding nemo which helps get you through the occasional boring class
Professor Worthington is a man loved by many and hated by none. His profound knowledge and wisdom for the topics he teaches transcends all of his peers. His kindness and generosity makes him a philanthropist unrivaled by any at this university. Any more trying to talk him up would be a discredit to his nature. Take his class. Now. Right now.
He's a very chill, down to earth teacher. I'd definitely recommend taking him! He really knows what he's talking about and is always there to help anyone. Tests are easy if you understand the problems you do in class. Take him if you can! (especially if you LOVE sports because that's all he talks about! :])
Great teacher, I would definitively recommend taking him. Really easy tests that got progressively shorter as the year went on (the last test before the final was two questions).
Nice guy but he would almost always go off topic every class period. He lets class out early too which is nice sometimes. All I remember from him was how he lost weight on a diet of coffee & cigarettes though. His exams were slightly tough & his final was way more difficult than it needed to be. He should do more practice problems in class to help!
Great Guy! I cannot stress that enough! Very fair! Tests were a little difficult but he is good with partial credit. He really grades based on effort you give in the class. Likes sports and is very personable.
Worthington is such a great teacher. He constantly went over problems in class until everyone got a solid understanding. His tests were EXTREMELY easy only 10 questions. The final was also about the same amount of questions. I would definitely recommend taking Worthington to anyone, down to earth guy and is willing to help.
Prof. Worthington is probably one of the nicest professors I have encountered. He is extremely helpful and clear when it comes to his expectations. His tests are usually three questions and class is never more than 30 minutes. If math is not your thing, I definitely recommend him for the required UCOR. Great guy all around!
He is a really personable, nice guy. Homework in my class was optional, so of course I never did a single assignment. I paid attention in class when he taught the lesson and when he did tons of practice problems so I never felt I needed too. Never got lower than an A on any test. I would recommend any of his classes!
very nice guy and loved sports! Tests were difficult but he is very helpful. I would take him for class
He is the worst teacher ever. He rambles and constantly makes mistakes on the board. If I didnt already have 2 years of calculus under my belt in high school i'd be as confused as the rest of the class. He also spends most of his time voicing his opinions on everything instead of teaching. And he takes attendance randomly so you cant skip
He's the man.
not an amazing teacher, but is always available for extra help. he has a lot of office hours and i found them to be very convenient. he loves sports so class is always funny. i highly recommend him (:
really nice guy. Homework isnt mandatory. Not allowed to use a calculator in the class, he gives you easy numbers on the test, so it wasnt bad at all. The test only took like 20 minutes each. Only bad thing is, he doesn't really explain how to find the answer. In class he just does practice problems, and he finds the answers. Overall pretty good
Good guy, more passionate about sports than calculus. Really clear with explanations if you just ask questions. Homework isn't mandatory. Attendance technically is, he gives out bonus points just for showing up. Tests are EXTREMELY easy. Highly recommend.
Very awesome guy. He was so fun to have. He'd talk about sports and stuff for like 10 minutes at the beginning of class. Class was easy and he was always willing to help. Take him if you can!
Mr. Worthington is a great teacher. He makes calc easy to understand and he is always willing to help. His exams are fairly easy and he gives you review sheets and tells you what to expect on the exam. He always talks about football at the beginning of class as well and it makes the class enjoyable. Take him if you can!
Great teacher and even a better guy. Knows all of his students. Attendance is mandatory, but you'll want to show up he's a funny guy and a good teacher. He's always willing to help if you're not understanding what is going on. The tests are straight forward and not very difficult. He loves sports just an awesome dude.
Worthington is an awesome guy
Awesome professor! Good teacher, his explanations are easy to understand. He is willing to stay after class and explain sometimes if you need extra help. Grades exams easily. Stops taking attendance by the end of the semester. Four exams, attendance, and a final. My only complaint is that there isn't any quizzes to help boost your grade.
Great professor for a tough course
Worthington is a pretty cool guy. He does lecture, and most of the time it's great. But sometimes he'll do problems that aren't going to be on the test, so it can get a little bit confusing about which problems to study.
If you took a calc class before, this class will be very very easy for you. However, he's very helpful if you do get confused. Tells lots of stories, unrelated to the class, but a nice break from math lectures
Mr. Worthington is a good professor. I did not take Calc 1 in high school like majority of those in my class did (which is very helpful in his course) but he did teach me well. He can get a little off topic and scatterbrained at times but who doesn't? If you really want to do well, do the homework assignments in the textbook and worksheets.
I took calc in high school and if I hadn't, I probably wouldn't have done all that well in the class. He spends the entirety of class just writing problems on the board himself, he doesn't give the students time to do them and ask questions. His tests are super easy if you already have experience with calculus.
I had never taken a Calc class before this course and ended with a high A. He spends the entire class doing problems similar to the ones on the exams. Exams are very short and straight to the point, you know what to expect. Not being able to use a calculator pays off because he can only give simple problems.
Dr. Worthington was an overall great professor! Lecture is mainly examples so you're getting alot of practice with the problems that he will most likely put on the exam. Exams are really short and usually only take 20-30 minutes. Just work through the problems that you cover in class and you should be fine for the exams and even the final.
Best stats prof. at Duquesne. Mr. Worthington is by far my favorite prof. at Duquesne. His lectures consist of examples which are very helpful for tests. Attendance is 15% of the grade which is nice. For the 2nd test he gave us all the answers so the whole class got a 100 on it. He also tells funny stories during class which makes stats fun somehow
He randomly gives bonus for showing up to class so go!!!!! His tests are easy even if you do bad he grades easy so you'll be fine as long as you somewhat understand what's going on.
I am complete trash at everything that has to do with math. I only took calc because it has to do with my major. And honestly, Worthington's class was so doable. The easiest problems are going to be on the test and you'll easily get at least a 75 without even studying. Don't worry when he says no calculator, as it actually makes the tests easier.
If you've never taken calc before this class with Mr. Worthington might be difficult but he is always open to answering questions and going through problems during office hours. I took AP calc in high school so I found the class easy. Tests are super short and simple. Don't buy the textbook unless you know you are going to need extra practice.
He's a good professor, simple and to the point. I was required to take stats and am glad that I chose him. The 4 tests and final were all extremely easy. He almost makes it impossible to do poorly. He assigns homework from the textbook but you definitely could get away without it. I think this class was easier than my stats class in high school.
Joe is a really cool guy and a good professor. He's super smart, so he sometimes over complicates things and makes them a bit confusing, but he will gladly clear things up if you ask. All assignments were graded for completion, and 15% of our grade was attendance. Show up and do the work, and this class is an easy A. He's also super funny.
He's really nice and funny but he talks. so. much. For an hour and 15 minute calc class you would think that he would stop for a little to have us do some problems but no. He lectures the whole time. If you have the opportunity to take a calc class less than an hour and 15 then do yourself a favor and take it.
Didn't teach how to do math, just how to memorize "tricks and shortcuts". If I didn't already understand calculus, I would be very confused by his teaching techniques. Strange grading system, everything is worth five points whether its a yes or no question or a page worth of work.
Prof. Worthington is a nice guy and his class is an easy A. He has really open office hours if you need help and the material is basic stats, so it is super easy. The tests are short and his review worksheets are good representations of what will be on the test. The textbook is kind of useless. Take this if you need an easy math class.
Mr. Worthington is an awesome guy with a big heart. i struggle with math but if you study hard, do the HW, and ask questions you will be able to pass the class. he's one of the easiest math professors at duquesne!
Worthington is super nice guy that often jokes in class. He takes attendance, gives a short quiz almost every week, and gives three exams. The quizzes are used to help your grade. Make sure you stay on top of the homework and ask questions when needed! Definitely recommend taking his class!
Mr. Worthington is a great professor, I highly recommend him for any math class. math 115 was easy, as long as you take notes in class and do the homework problems you'll probably pass. it takes a few classes to get used to his lecture style because he tends to ramble a little bit, but it's easy to comprehend what he is saying and he is helpful
I didn't take a calc class in high school so this class was difficult for me. Overall he is a nice and funny guy and means well. If you don't do the homework or come to class though you may not get the grade you want.
Worthington is overall a good professor. Although, he only has grades for exams and attendance. This can make it very difficult to pass if you fail even one exam. I also do not recommend taking his course if you did not take calculus before. He assumes everyone in class has some knowledge of calculus, which can making it really hard.
Homework assigned from the textbook is definitely harder than what is on the exam, doesn't matter if you do it or not. Reviews are very similar to exams. Easier than my high school stats class. Very funny, but gets off topic easily. Explains concepts in easy to remember ways.
He was very nice and very relaxed. Homework was not turned in for a grade but you got a lot of your points from group work which was good even if you didnt do good on a test and attendance was counted for points to. This class i was not stressed about or anything! Such a nice guy! TAKE CLASS WITH HIM!!
He didn't give a grade for being in class. If you showed up, you showed up. He is willing to help during his office hours. His lectures are all over the place. I found it very hard to comprehend what we were doing because he does not explain well. You have lots of homework but he never grades them. He grades 3 tests and then the final THAT IS IT!
everything you need to know about the class is in the syllabus. he didn't make homework mandatory, so the only grades you get are the four exams you take throughout the semester. i found the class extremely easy, but if you aren't great at math, his teaching style isn't for you. he basically just does problems the entire time. super nice guy though
this is the worst math teacher i've ever had, this man literally throws up random numbers on the board and doesn't explain where he got any of them. he's a nice man is terrible at teaching. if you are not extremely intelligent in math, his class will make not one bit of sense to you.
Easiest class at Duquesne.
he is such a nice guy! Really cares for his students and made us feel comfortable asking questions! Definitely take Joe
Def fav math class ever. super chill and easy if you pay attention. Few HW and few tests. gives a long time for homework to turn in. you do use the book a lot for practice problems.
Easiest course ever if you go to class, he takes questions from the textbook and his worksheets and uses them as test questions
I LOVE prof Worthington! He is hilarious and teaches calculus really well. He makes sure you learn the things you need to learn but never makes things overly complicated. If you haven't taken calculus before, make sure you do the extra work to get yourself familiar with the concepts.
Mr. Worthington is by far the most valuable professor I have had yet at Duquesne. He has a very easy-to-follow teaching method allowing you to learn and retain information. You actually look forward to attending his class with his sense of humor. He is accessible outside of class and helpful in office hours. I highly recommend talking his class.
The professor is a very genuine person who really is funny. He has a great sense of humor and really makes coming to class enjoyable. The class isn't very hard as long as you do the homework and take the time to understand the material. He tries to help as much as he can. 10/10
The only grades he gives are for participation, quizzes, and exams. You can only miss one class before him taking 1% off your final grade for each additional absence (besides emergencies, sports, etc.). He makes class extremely fun and takes time to explain if you ask him to. He's an extremely caring teacher and wants everyone to succeed.
Show up to class, pay attention during the lectures, turn in the super easy homework assignments and you should get a good grade. I survived without buying the textbook too. Super nice guy and likes to crack jokes during class. Math courses can be boring but he makes things fun. Makes himself approachable to students and treats them with respect.
I have struggled greatly with math in general and professor Worthington taught me a lot. He goes very slow for his nonscience classes and makes it the easiest he can. Not the most organized on canvas and may take a few classes to get used to his teaching methods, but as long as you follow what he is doing during class, you'll learn a lot. Great guy
He's a nice guy and tells random, funny stories during lectures. He requires a textbook, but you don't need it. He makes sure you understand the topics, plus he doesn't cover unnecessary topics like other profs. Homework isn't collected, just go to class and copy notes, easy A if you pay attention. Take him over other business calc prof.
Mr. Worthington is a really straightforward professor. He makes calculus really understandable and his lectures are mostly just practice problems. There are optional homework assignments and the grade is based on just quizzes and exams. Super funny and loves to chat!
Worthington is a great professor and makes calc easy to understand. Lecture is just a bunch of practice problems that he uses to explain the concepts. Make sure you study up on algebra and trig before the class because he does skip intermediate steps during lecture. Takes a little to get used to but he cares about all students and is very funny.
GOAT. Taught the math in a very understandable way. Tests and quizzes were easy... don't think I missed a point all year. Arguably the best professor/teacher I have ever had.
Professor Worthington does not want you to do bad in his class. There's a super small quiz every Friday which is typically very easy. Exams are a lot of textbook problems and problems done in class/on homework. He's also super funny and wants his students to succeed
He is a very nice guy and told many funny stories. While I enjoyed these stories, I wish he would have gone into more depth with the topics instead. I think he assumes that most people have already taken calc , and as someone who didn't take calc 1 previously, I needed extra help and was always confused. Have to go to office hours for explanation
Honestly, he was one of the only professors I liked the first semester. Homework is similar to tests and quizzes. The last time I took calc and algebra was during my sophomore and junior years of HS, so at first i was intimidated by his class. Very manageable, and he will help even more if you go to office hours. He is the best calc teacher at DUQ!
Professor Worthington is the BEST!!!! He goes over everything that will be on tests before. We are graded on 3 homework's and 4 exams (one including the final). No midterm. Very funny and makes the whole class laugh. He made math understandable for someone who is awful at it. I love him and wish I could take him again!
Joseph Worthington is the GOAT! He genuinely cares about his students' success. If you show up and do what's required, you can pass easily. He's easy to talk to, straightforward, and hilarious. There are quizzes every week, but he drops the lowest quiz grade.
Professor Worthington makes calculus engaging. His lectures are focused on practice problems, and he's super funny. The class is manageable if you stay on top of the material. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for study prep.
Worthington is the best calculus 1 professor by far. He goes at a slow pace to ensure everyone understands what's going on. Beware of chapter 4, as that is the toughest chapter in the class. Otherwise, Prof. Worthington tells hilarious anecdotes and overall makes the class easy for his students.
I wish I could take him again. He makes it very clear he cares for students and is overall an amazing and kind professor. He takes the time to explain concepts and is always prepared to answer any questions. He talks a lot about his family and tells very funny stories about his life. Overall, a great professor and would recommend him.
BEST prof ever! TAKE HIM easy A and funny stories. I love worthy :)
He knows his math but is barely teaching it. the course is super light and I feel like I didn't really learn much. take his class if you're looking for an easy a and basic math. He is very well liked and I can see why I just feel as though the course could have been done in half the time.
Absolutely loved taking calc with Mr. Worthington! I was terrified of calc but got an A thanks to his awesome teaching. Class is mostly doing example problems mixed in with his hilarious stories and jokes. He is also great at grading quickly and giving partial credit. If you do the homework or just redo class problems his class is a breeze.
Great professor! I was always horrible at math but he teaches very well! He truly cares and is very funny which can help so much! I would def recommended! PS- his review for test are the same questions ;)
I was never good in math but in Mr. Worthington's class I was never lost on what we're doing. There's quizzes almost every week but as long as you put something down you'll pass them. The man is hilarious but when it's time to work you do the work. His explanations are clear and he's always ready to answer any question no matter what.
Mr. Worthington is a very respectable and likable teacher. In high school, I took calc, had background on the subject, but the way he taught it made me understand it a lot better. He tells us some stories here and there to keep our attention as also engages with us before, during, and after class which made me feel comfortable coming to him.
