Great teacher and funny as hell!! Definitely take. he doesn't care if you go to class or not. Gives you an A if he likes you and a B if he doesn't like you. He like me!!!

Awesome teacher. Crazy stories, accents, etc... Sometimes a little hard to follow but overly easy class. Definatly recommend for Legal Research and Writing.

Bus Law with him was AWESOME! A funny guy, and very helpful. He even let me drop off some extra credit at his law office so it technically wouldn't be late.

This professor is a comedic genius. You're face will hurt you later on from laughing so much. He has a great demeanor and attitude during class. He has such a carefree perspective on his field and life in general. His class is not difficult at all and you will wish all professors were like him.

THE BEST TEACHER EVER! He tells jokes and stories throughout the whole semester. There is a method to his madness, every story and joke he brings up relates to the course in some way. I wish ever teacher was like him. DO NOT DROP HIM you will regret it. NO TESTS! Only a midterm and a final. Pass the midterm with an A and you don't take the final.

joe is the coolest teacher, he is hilarious and makes class very fun. the boring material becomes more interesting with his stories and the tests are hard but graded with an awesome curve and as for the hw there was next to nothing except for extra credit hw!

I can't believe they didn't sell tickets before his class. I think this guy missed his calling as a standup comic. He is AMAZING. The stories he tells about life are hilarious, and he still finds the time to fit in the material you need for the exams. If you have to take business law, make sure you take "Dr." Z!!

He's the "Original Jay Z" so he'll tell you. This guy is hysterical and really enjoys teaching his subject matter - very well, I might add. He'll crack you up as he throws the chalk behind him and have it land where he wants. Then he'll lean against the window and the vertical blinds will envelope him as he continues to tell his stories. A++++++

best class i have ever had.. class was not mandatory but you will want to go to this class. there is no homework, no quizes, no papers, no projects, just 2 tests which are both take home. the final isnt even really a test its like 15 questions that you take from your notes. very fun class i recommend it to all my friends!

Great Professor. He is a practicing lawyer so he knows his stuff. Funny, I cried in class, really made 2 nights 3 hrs per night enjoyable. Final is a take home. Very fair and gives chances to earn points. Take him if you can!!!!

Very good professor. His class is very relaxed, all you do is take notes. Theres only a midterm and a final, which are very easy. He explains things very well. Hes also really funny. more than once he had the class laughing so hard that it lasted several minutes.

Like everyone else wrote, Joe is AMAZING! You won't feel like you are in class at all, in fact you will laugh your butt off every week. Most of his tests are take home, but difficult however if you go to every class, you'll get an A. He's a teacher I PROMISE you will NEVER FORGET

By far the best class and Professor you can take at Brookdale Community College. JZ goes above and beyond to make his class fun and upbeat. Only a midterm and final(both take home); take notes and take your time taking the midterm and you might be exempt from the final. I laughed hard every class JZ really has a sense of humor.

Excellent educator and genuinely kind person. Uses hilarious examples in class to get messages across. Cares about the students. Test was hard, but he gave extra credit essay to bump up grade.

Favorite professor by far. He's funny, makes the 2 hour 45 minute class fly by. No homework, tests or quizzes. Just the midterm and final. 100% recommend him for Business Law, would definitely take him again! Wish he taught everything!!!

Truly one of the best teachers at Brookdale. Makes the lecture fly by with his funny stories and made up scenarios. Wasn't looking forward to taking Business Law, but he made it one of my favorite classes. There are no actual assignments- just a midterm and final and lots of extra credit. 10/10 would recommend.

Joe really knows his stuff, and knows how to explain it. Classes were usually filled with laughter, but even with the goofiness we learned everything we needed to.

I have had Joe for a total of 4 classes (PLGL 105, PLGL 106, BUSI 221 and BUSI 235) and will be taking more classes with him this fall. He's hands down the most easy professor I have had. Gives take home tests and his lectures aren't boring with all the stories he tells. Take him and you won't regret it!!!

I had Joe for 4 of my paralegal courses & he was by far the best professor I've dealt with at Brookdale. He really knows his material & wants you to pass, he lays out what he expects and helps you facilitate getting an A. He understands everyone in class is an adult & treats people accordingly. you do your best & he will grade you fairly.

Attendance is not mandatory but if you want an A in the class: show up and don't leave early. He gives the mid term early & YOU SHOULD USE THIS TIME TO START EARLY. The mid term is hard but he grades with a curve and gives out A LOT of extra credit. I would RENT the book for tests. His lectures are amazing. I was excused from the final. 10/10 <3

This is one of the best if not the best professors in any field at an college ever. Professor Zavaglia's ability to incorporate real world aspects into our Business Law class made each class both interesting and inspirational. Top notch professor here.

One thing I want to make really clear is when he says attendance is optional for his classes --- really reconsider not showing up. Essentially, if you show up and take good notes you'll get an A easy but if you don't, you'll really be lost. You can't google the answers on your take home tests (really). Not to mention his lecture is hilarious.

First off, go to class and take notes. He is a very nice guy and actually cares about student success. I loved his lectures because he teaches practical application of contract law. The tests are hard because they are designed to make you think BUT they are take home and you have 2 weeks to complete them. You cannot google the answers.

Definitely one of the most interesting Professors I've ever had! It's important to take notes and purchase the book. The tests are take home but they're extremely hard. He's very funny and keeps class interesting with his drawings, jokes, & impersonations. It's a serious class though, if you don't show up to class, it'll affect your grade!

Wow! I've never had a professor put this much effort into making sure I got an A. Attendance was optional but I didn't want to miss a single class. His lectures are extremely hilarious and a breath of fresh air. He also gave us tons of great advice about life in general. There are not enough professors like Joe. It was an honor to learn from him.

I had to take Business Law as a requirement for my major. I'm not a business major so i was not looking forward to this class BUT professor Z. was outstanding one the best professors here at Brookdale. Hes very clear on how to pass Hes hilarious and I learned so much from him he made this class enjoyable and easy to understand!

Professor Zavaglia is crazy, but definitely a good crazy. There's no work and he tells stories and goes on tangents the entire class. One of the most outgoing and funniest professors I've ever had. Highly recommend him for Business Law, ESPECIALLY if you're planning on transferring to a four-year school that needs this class.

Mr. Zavaglia is one of the funniest professors out there! His classes are always a good time. There is only a midterm and final in his class, but if you get an A on the midterm, you don't have to take the final. He also gives extra credit to boost your midterm or final grade. Joseph Zavaglia is and will be the best professor you have in college. He is incredibly smart and has so much experience as a lawyer. Instead of reading textbooks and powerpoints he teaches from experience. An A on the Midterm exempts you from the final. You won't have an issue staying awake in his class. Contract law is probably really boring but Professor Z makes it bearable to learn. he tells stories to help you remember the context of the information. You don't need the book but it was worth buying for $10. Mid-term isn't an easy A but if you get an A you are exempt from the final. Show up to class, easy A. Took in 6 week semester w/no problem

Dude is hilarious and teaches, by far, the easiest class I have ever taken at Brookdale. 2 grades only in the class, a take home midterm and take home final if you don't get an A on the midterm. Need I say more?

I sat on my phone everyday. Not once did I take a note. Got an A on the midterm and was done for the semester. You have to show up twice to get an A. Once to pick up midterm, once to hand it in. More teachers should give out grades like this.

Zavaglia where to even start... what a man! His reputation at Brookdale is amazing if you have to take this class it is the easiest class you will ever take. He only has a take home midterm and a final... and if you get a 90 or higher you don't have to take his final. Lots of opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester. Highly recommend!

Professor Zavaglia is going to go down as my favorite college professor. I transferred and came back a year later to rate him. He is hilarious and a great man, I genuinely wanted to show up every class. He doesn't believe in traditional grades he has his own scale. I learned a lot of info in this course and had a lot of laughs as well!

Show up listen and you'll pass. One of the funniest professors learnt a lot in this class not the traditional way of grading you're used too. He's Super flexible and makes you enjoy coming to class. He's one of those professors you'll remember forever.

The only way you'll fail this class is if you don't do the tests. Attend the class, participation is a HUGE PLUS- you passed, extra credit avail.! He is talking about real life cases more than book material-so if you wanna learn by the book, that's a bummer. He is funny and cool, will explain to you whatever you need to know. Professor Zavaglia's BUSI221 class was one of the most easiest, but educative class I've ever taken at Brookdale. He provided real world scenarios rather than just reading off the textbook. Extra credit was also given to students who participate the most. As long as you show up every class and do the work, it's an easy A.

I took Professor Z for business 221. There are two assignments, the midterm and the final. I was stressing the whole semester because I did not do good on the midterm but still finished with an A. Professor Z says it countless times, but I will also say it here. "You only fail the class if you do not take the test". Top 3 Professor at b-dale.

SIGMA ALPHA MALE professor Z! What a legend, this guy is actually my role model. This guy also has a lot of money too, and I think he drives like a Porsche 911 and he also told me he has like 2 Ferraris and 5 lambos. I took Professor Zavaglia for three PLGL courses and he is one of the greatest professors at Brookdale. Lectures and assignments are detailed but very clear. If I could take him all over again I would. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Best professor in the state, he states over and over the class is about learning and not grades. Show up and take the tests and you will pass with ease. Lectures drag on a little bit but its the easiest class you'll take at Brookdale, so pick your battles. If you don't pass, it's 110% on YOU for not putting in the lowest effort possible

I took Prof. Zavaglia for the 6-week summer semester of 2025. He is old school and very caring for his students' success. He explains things in a very engaging, yet comprehensive manner. Tells you what you need to know and prioritizes you learning. Uses real world examples and gives you multiple perspectives to analyze from differently. Great man!
