very funny, active, resourceful, but strict
HRM material and his lecture is good but his Tests is really hard...and Quiz as well. 20 questions in quize, have to finish in 19 min sharp. HRM class stuff is esay to understand so if u can take with some other teacher.
Great class! I actually wanted to go to lectures. Makes the class interesting and funny but is VERY strict. The class is challenging but material is interesting. Best professor I have had at CSULB!
HE IS PROBABLY THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD AT CSULB!! HE IS REALLY WILLING TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND IN A VERY FUN STYLE! TESTS ARE NOT THAT BAD IF YOU STUDY AND THE QUIZZES ARE PRETTY EASY. YOU GET TO DROP 2 QUIZESS N-E-WAY.
One of the best professors I've had at CSULB! His lectures are very lively! 2 Tests, 5 quizzes (he drops 2 of them) and a very fun project. Tests and quizzes are from books and lectures. You do the work, you get at least B. I received an A.
Great TeaCher. He is very cleAr. ProvideS a grEat lec, verY funny and informative. Not so hard but you need to study the book for that is the majority of the test.
Great teacher. One of greatest teacher in CSULB. Try to take the course during summer b/c his summer classes are easier than normal semesters. The tests are pretty hard but there is still a high chance of getting an A. (very funny teacher)
Great Teacher! Know your Simpson's you'll get candy or money!! HE lectures very well! I took him suring the summer session and made a 4 hour class bearable. Pretty much a reasonable guy and anyone should get an A if they go to class and read the sections
Simply the best!!!
Nice guy, you'll actually have to read if you want an A but the material is pretty easy.
By far one of the greatest teachers at CSULB. Teaches you what you need to know and is hilarious while doing it. Makes class fun and entertaining, even for 2hrs. and 45min. He isn't the easiest and there is a lot of info you'll cover, but if you really want to learn this subject, take him.
Definitely one of the best professors on campus. Really gets the information across in a way that you learn it and remember it.
Great Professor. The class was fun.
Great professor. Really great sense of humor. You won't fall asleep in this class. Lectures are funny and informative. Never missed a class.
Very interesting class! He makes the class so fun and important to go to that you will not want to miss a class. Great teacher! Remember to compliment him on his tie! :)
I loved this professor! He is funny and always keeps class entertaining. He makes class fun by giving examples and demonstrations in class.I not only learned a lot, but I looked forward to coming to class.Don't be intimidated by 1st class,he's so nice, class is easy, and he's one of the best professors!
An intense, strict teacher, yet you actually learn something in this class! Lectures are important, and the tests cover a lot of theories, etc. Awesome teacher, and made me want to go to class with his crazy antics.
he is one of the best teachers in csulb. you'll get an A, just don't miss any class but if you do..make sure to copy the notes you miss from someone else..he tells you everything on the test.he gives sample test questions..he is very funny. his activities are fun..i had so much fun with this class..
great teacher
He is not that easy as you think. None of the last 10 people gave him 5 at easiness! He is funny but when you talk to him personally, he is SO MEAN AND RUDE! Lots of students droped his class this summer!
Dont let hin scare you on the first day of class. He isnt as bad as he makes it seem. Lectures are very Very VERY important so dont miss class. He's pretty funny and rarely is class ever boring. A very good professor overall.
This class is an easy 'B' and you can get an 'A' if you study and understand the concpets & theory. You can't just memorize definitions but you have to put what you've learned into examples! Dr. Arnold is such a great lecturer, he makes HRM interesting! I took ABRAMIS before & I ended up w/ a 'W'. I recommend J. ARNOLD over any other HRM Prof.
Okay he's loud and the humor is off beat, but he knows his stuff(almost by heart). I missed a B by 2 points(one test question) kinda studied could have studied harder. Dont forget your ID for tests, please take your ID to the tests.
Easy class if you study. Despite prior rating indicating he's mean & rude outside of class..he's 1st to tell you he's an introvert & not a people person;if you're putting forth genuine effort he will respond in kind. Very upfront tchr-no surprises on tests.
He appears to be very distant and intimidating at first, but after a couple of weeks, he relaxes and is actually very funny (sarcastic humor). He makes the material very interesting and his lectures are entertaining. He is a nice instructor and reviews questions that are similar to test questions. If you try, you can get a B in the class.
Arnold is a nut case!!! And that's a good thing in a boring subject like HRM. He makes lectures interesting and almost enjoyable. There are 5 quizzes, you get to drop 2, and the tests are reasonable. Wait for him to flip the table over, that's the best part.
Very clear about what it takes to pass. Notes answer the tests and quizes perfectly. Do the little amount he requires and you will get an A. Best of all, he presents the matter in a non-boring and easy to apply way.
Good teacher. Funny, entertaining. Pay attention, attend class, and you'll get a good grade.
I HATE HIM. WORST TEACHER EVER.
he does not teach well. And very unclear.
dont take this prof. he is hard. you wont learn anything in his class.
I bet those four comments below this are written by the same person. Prof. Arnold is a great teacher; I don't like HRM, but he made the class interesting and fun. It's hard to get an A, but I got B in his class. His lectures were great. If u can't pass this class, then you should just quit school. You will be thankful u took him than Abramis.
very entertaining
You MUST show up to class...read the book...and then you will do fine...if you just show up you will just pass. His lectures are entertaining if you have to take a morning class he would be a good one to take it with. He keeps you awake, although he is a HUGE NERD, but a funny one
bad Personality and HARD
Prof. Arnold is the best in school! I loved his class! I got an A by studying exactly what he said, coming to class, and taking lots of notes. I really learned a lot from him. Prof. Arnold is Super entertaining and charming person! Thank you so much!
Easy class. Consists of quizzes during the semester, two tests, and "negotiation" exercise. Best part was not having to do any work projects which are always time consuming
Best and most motivated teacher ever. I have never seen one with such compassion for his subject. His energy is refreshing. His class is totally straight forward and totally FAIR. If you didn't get an A, then you simply did not listen to him and study!!!!! He rocks all the way. Love his sarcastic jokes.
BEST TEACHER. not easy class but if you pay attention and listen you will enjoy yourself and do well. ive never seen another class be full in the middle of the semester on a non test or quiz day, but this class was ALWAYS full no matter what..unbelievable..thats how much people enjoy this guy. no work outside of class.like no projects or anythin
he is hard and not clear. No matter how many hours you study, you get a C. Shore is better than him. Take his class and get A/B.
This class is not easy; You have to do the studying before u go to class, sometime he talks to fast; The test is hard and quizes and be tricky. Take O'hara if u have a choice
This guy is great, a little over the top but that's what makes him so great! The test are not the easiest but if you take notes and read, you'll do fine. Definatly worth going to class! no coffee needed, he'll wake you up!
Arnold is charismatic and intelligent. His lectures are of an educational performance. He's the best!
What teacher at CSULB is so engaging that an entire class would stay during a blackout for his lecture? um, Professor Arnold! This class is an easy A if you read the book and come to class. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! You will actually look forward to going to class! And yes, nerds are hot to me :)
he's a very interesting teacher, you will never get bored during his sessions. he's a fair teacher, if you study u can get an easy A. i love u Josh
very funny and interesting -- he makes going to class fun. makes a lot of jokes and talks a little fast, but will repeat himself if you ask. it's important to go to class and do the reading. he gives study guides, which are helpful, but it's important to study in order to do well.
This guy is the ultimate nerd. He's strict and unfair. What a waste of my time
One of the best professor at CSULB. Lectures are very clear, and fair test.
He is a very good teacher. Very hyper. BUT VERY HARD TESTS AND QUIZESS. A lot of notes taking during the class. Have to read all the chapters carefully. NO presentations.
He is funny but very rigid in how he treats his students. I slept most of the class
This class is pretty tough, but Professor Arnold makes it bearable. He makes the material pretty clear with his great class activities and examples and is funny as hell. Everyone seemed to enjoy the class
good sense of humor
HIGHLY RECOMMDED! Prof Arnold is great at teaching this course his previous experiences make excellent examples of the material covered in class. The class is a bit difficult, but get over it! your taking upper division courses now. Arnold is funny and hyper which helps to stay awake in class. take this guy if you are not interested in HRM
NOT RECOMMENDED!!!Don't TAKE HIm. Yes he Is a funny, and Gr8 Lecturer. He is full of himself. But his tests are HARD!! Only 5 people out of a CBA LECTURE HALL got an A, in other words harder than hard.. 80% of his grades are from Tests. No papers. Save your self from getting a D or C.
recommended! this guy is hilarious. his tests are hard, but the lectures/what he wants out of u are clear and straight to the pt. no projects, just 4 quizzes and 2 tests. take him cuz he'll wake you up in a snap!
You can't ask for a better teacher. He has a way of teaching and gives great examples to reinforce the material. I can't forget the days when he tried to RAP and when he threw the desk!!! Comment on how "great" he looks to get free candy. You think he has no life from how he looks, but looks can be decieving. Professor you must take bfore you grad!
if you tell him that his tie looks gr8, u r guranteed a candy! Mr. Josh is a great teacher.. just hear whatever he says and copy down the example he is going to give in the lecture. Those examples will come in the class in some other format. If u can understand the concept, then this class should be easy. Good Luck taking him!
One of the best prof at CSULB. His lectures are interesting, fun, and he is a funny guy. He tells you what you need to know for quizes and exams. It is up to you to study and know the material. I can't say enough great things about his teaching ability. You must go to class to do well.
Stupid teacher. Don't take his class. Exams are so hard. He is funny though.
One of the best teachers. Hilarious, actually made me want to come to class. Tests are hard though, and only 10% will get A's in the class. Good for HRM majors.
He must have put those nice comments about himself because he is one of the hardest teachers. Only 10% will get an A, 15% will get B's, 15% will get C's, and well you can guess the rest. He is soooo anal. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!!
This guy is so funny! His lectures are so clear; all you have to do is write down what he TELLS you to write and copy the notes from the board. If you read the book and study your class notes you should get an A. Tests may be difficult if u don't read the book. This guy is so hyper--he is hilarious!
Excellent professor overall. He is pretty hard on himself sometimes, but very clear lectures and reasonable quizzes/exams. I got a B and went to every class with reasonable effort.
I think that he's a great professor. Made an extremely boring subject interesting with his examples and funny sense of humor. Tests are hard but are basically off the book and what he emphasizes. He doesnt curve though.
take him! 3 tests, 1 small easy group exercise - get full credit as long as u do it, 1 easy homework assignment. the people who say his tests are hard must not read the book. he's pretty funny too. go to class, read the book, study for an hour or two before the test. pretty easy A, EXTREMELY easy B.
HE KEEPS IT SO INTERESTING!
Professor Arnold makes this course very interesting and keeps student's attention with off-the-wall examples. He keeps the material relavent to business. Don't miss class and read the textbook. If you do this his the tests should be no problem for you.
You do have to go to class, but it's very interesting. His pretest review is a helpful guide, but the tests include notes/book/videos, so you're responsible for all material. Easy B if you work hard semi difficult A.
This professor keeps the class interested. Follow the notes, ask questions if need clarification and you'll do fine in the class. His lectures are enjoyable. Tests are fairly difficult, but if you pay attention in class and read a little of the book, you'll do fine.
Don't have to go to class, but you should. Exams have book and lecture material. Has strange examples and jokes in class. Few easy HW. Need book, but can borrow from friend. Often uses demonstrations to explain the lecture topic. Exams are primarily applications of the real world, making exams harder than normal.
I enjoyed him. He made me laugh and not many teachers can do that every class. He is ridiculously anal but it is a good class to take to meet people cause you do alot of interacting with others. Very good prof.
Okay quizzes and Test lots of memorizing things out of the book. Lectures help with quizzes and test is helpful to go in during office hours.
5 quizzes but the lowest is dropped, midterm and final. Plus some group exercises and easy HW. The exams are tricky. He sure loves to throw curve balls on the tests. He tends to pull the questions out of the most random sentence in a random paragraph in the book that we're expected to have memorized. Semi-easy B, difficult A :(
Arnold is a good teacher. He is funny, and he is loud. To pass you MUST know his lecture material, so you must go to class. Tests seem hard for some, easy for others. There are alot of opportunities for points, other than tests, and the class is curved. Like stated before, easy B, tough A.
Arnold is the best. One midterm, one final. Four quizzes, drop the lowest. He is the clearest and most enlightening professor. You will work hard for your grade and will learn a lot because of it. But Arnold makes that process fun. He may be the best professor in the Business Dept.
One Midtern and one final. 4 quizzes w/ lowest one dropped. Great professor. Most material covered comes straight from the book. He lets you know if something isn't in there. Tells you before the test what pages you must know for the exams. Kind of a lot of material, but he tries to make it as simple as possible.
So far my favorite teacher at CSULB. Interesting and made me want to go to class. Almost made me change my major to HRM. Studied hard and pulled off an A...but it took a lot of memorizing and you have to go to his lectures. I probably studied the most for this class than any other class but its worth it...take him forsure!
In a few words he is a major nerd. He tries hard but his teaching style and the way his lecture goes is difficult to absorb. My advise take any other teacher but him for HRM 360.
He is really nice&funny&nerdy! Never a dull moment in this class. The subject itself is not hard to comprehend. But his tests/quizzes are really hard! The lucky thing is that he has a very great grading system and it helped me pass with a C because i did poorly on quizzes&tests.
yeah, he might make lectures very fun with his outbursts and jokes, but the tests are very hard to pass and the quizzes are hard as well since they are all timed tests. you have to KNOW the book to pass this class
By far, the best business professor there is at csulb. He know his stuff. His class is also very entertaining. yes, his test are hard but only if you don't read the book and don't study his notes. Two exam plus four quizes. drop lowest quizes. Grades base on the curve at the end. all in all, you should pass the class if you just do what he says.
Great Professor. Conveys useful information and always has good examples. Keeps lecture interesting with fun exercises and his crazy sense of humor.
great teacher. the most entertaining professor by far. keeps class fun/entertaining. he does expect a lot but he's definitely worth taking.
By far the best professor at Cal State Long Beach. His lectures are interesting, yet helpful. He is loud, funny and sarcastic, and knows his stuff very well. Does a great job in teaching. Yes his exams are hard if you don't study. If you study your good, you will pass the class. Got an A in the class.
Awesome teacher. Quizes and tests are all based on applications and not just book memorization. Put in effort and you will have no problem. got a B in teh class
One of the best Professor I have taken. I wish CSULB would have more professors like him. He really knows what he is teaching. Attending to class is mandatory since his quizes (4) consist of class material. Although his exams are difficult (mainly applications) if you try hard you .If you have to take HRM 360 Take him!!!
Professor Arnold is one of the best I have ever had! He actually cares about education and teaching. Was not an easy class but you learn a lot! You should def. take him!
very clear and very entertaining. Loves what he does. Study lecture notes and review what he highlights before tests and u'll do fine.
Took him this summer. A Great Professor. Class was Interesting and involved a lot of reading, but the material is comprehensible and not hard to understand. Class attendance is required because the exams also cover lecture material. An easy A if you try.
He is THE best teacher I have ever had! If he taught more HRM classes, I would change major in a heart beat. His exams place a huge emphasis on lecture and book overlap. Study that and you'll do awesome. Requires a ton of textbook readings though. Good Luck! By the way, where is this man's chilly? he is being robbed of his hotness status.
I'm not a business major, I needed this class for a minor. Prior to this class I had ZERO interest in anything business (due to prior experiences in business classes, yuck), but this guy made it all worth it! He was easy to understand, very funny, did lots of fun experiments and demos to make his points. Very good teacher, definitely recommend!
I thought this class was going to be a breeze since I was taking it for summer school. You actually do need to read and pay attention in class. If you can do that then you will get an A. He actually makes class interesting. He's kind of corky but pretty fun. Take him if you can.
This is a fun and interesting class but you need to study hard for the quizzes and exams. There are 4 quizzes and 2 exams that make up the entirety of the grade. They are not very easy questions, mostly application. Come prepared and you will do well. If you want a breeze for a class don't take him!
This guy is totally insane, but I absolutely adore him! His class is not hard at all. Do the required readings and you're golden! His tests are all application, which means fully understand what you're reading people! Easy B! Have to work a little bit for the A though. He's hilarious. Class is never dull :)
Makes class enjoyable. A lot of material covered fairly quickly, but he structures lectures so they're easy to follow. Easy hw/exercises - just be in class. Must read book for the quizzes/tests; also helps to have great lecture notes. Showed a few pertinent videos (had questions on quiz about them). Attendance not required, but you're crazy to miss
By far one of the best prof. at CSULB and in CBA. 4 quizzes (drops lowest), 1 midterm, and final. Def. easy B, but have to work a little harder for an A. He does curve as well. E.C. also offered. Highly recommend taking good lecture notes and book notes. Take him, you will not regret it
Why can't all professors be like him?! Made a pretty bland subject really interesting. Arnold explains things with real life examples which really helps. Tests are eh, not easy, but not super hard. Make sure you take detailed notes then reinforce them with reading the parts of the book he says to go over. Take him if you can!
True, he is a good teacher but his tests are way too complicated than it should be. Don't take him unless you really have a passion for reading a dull textbook and writing down everything he says in lecture.
Good Prof, interesting lectures. Very interactive and good lecturer. Tests are tricky, but as long as study what he tells, should do fine. Easy B, Hard A. Grades based off top 10 % of class
This is a difficult class. The lecture seems fine, but his quiz/test are way too hard. You only have 1 minute per ? and try to confuse you. Like math, he tells you the basic concept, but doesn't give you example probs. Read the book and make concept situations. ok guy, but quiz/ test are the points and are hard
one of the best professors I've ever had! hard exams but worth it. you actually learn and he really does care about his students which is very RARE. take him to learn not to easily pass.
Hands down best professor. Definitely one of the most difficult professors I've had, but he's extremely clear, and helpful. Really cares about what his students are feeling. Would definitely recommend him, but its not an easy A or B. Its hard earned. Expect to study a lot, Attendance is not mandatory but if you miss notes, you won't do well.
yes, probably one of the best/funny/energetic/knowledgeable professors, but a lot of reading required and time consuming to memorize all the materials. don't miss a class because things that he talks or shows on projector tend to show up on quizzes and tests randomly. you will learn alot but will be tested on all that.
He is such a great professor!! I probably liked him the best so far at CSULB. I thought the lecture was gonna be boring but he made it really enjoyable. If you go to class paying attention to the lecture and read the book, it is possible to get an A. I would definitely recommend taking courses of Dr. Arnold to anyone!!!!
WOW!! Hands down, he is the best professor i have ever taken. His lectures are CRYSTAL CLEAR! Exams are easy if you go to class and read the book(easy to read). I would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to learn and wants to pass this required class. He might come off as stuck up in the beginning, but he is a One-of-a-Kind professor!
Definitely recommend. Go to class for lecture notes and read the book (He tells you what to read). No Homework. Extra credit opportunities. Quizzes and Exams are application based--> He will show examples of previous exam questions. No take home examples and notes are not online. Very funny and great sense of humor! Definitely recumbend
Simply put, a great prof that will teach you a lot. Challenges you. Better read and study if you want to get a B. An A? Above and beyond. You learn, but it's not an easy class at all. Curve = Top 10% of classmates scores. Big lecture hall. Don't be absent. Idk why this class is hard, when 99% of ppl in it aren't even this major.
Hands down one of the best business professors at CSULB. You will not be bored. He's just so fun and engaging. I love his class!
Hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. He made class enjoyable. ASK QUESTIONS!!! He enjoys answering them. Tests are conceptual so studying for them takes some time. Overall, I love this class, and highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this prof. His quizzes / tests are hard though. You have to keep up with the readings and lectures to do well in this class.
Great teacher...he is passionate and enthusiastic. And funny too. I highly recommend him.
Take this class! Super easy class if you pay attention and take notes. Knowing examples for each topic helps a lot on the tests. He's a really funny and entertaining guy. Great class!
Honestly one of the greatest teachers I've had. His quizes and tests are a bit tricky but he tells you everything to expect on them. I just studied and made flash cards 2 nights before and I did fine. Highly recommended.
This is by far my fav professor at CSULB!! Super funny, classes are not dry at all!! Pay attention in class (go to every class) and study what he tells you and you should do fine!
4 quizzes, lowest is dropped, tests can be tricky so really have to know the material. Very effective teacher, lectures a lot on what's NOT in the textbook. Makes class interesting & always had a full lecture. Flips thru textbook to let you know what to focus on for quizzes/exams. Speaks loudly, allows comp. 1st 3 rows only & writes on a whiteboard
This class is way too hard for what it's worth. Very sassy and dramatic professor. Lectures are good, tells you what is on the test but the quality of information given through his lecture and the book doesn't match the toughness of his quizzes and exams. I wouldn't recommend.
He's an amazing lecturer. Materials from the lecture are included on quizzes and tests, so you should go to class. His tests are really tricky, so you have to read. Class is based on 3 quizzes, two tests, and and a couple assignments (which are easy points). He curves the class at the end based on the class avg. You really have to work for a B.
Makes HRM very interesting. He seem intimidating but only demands the same respect he gives his students. He prides himself on being fair and in the long run, it works out better this way. He really knows his stuff. Pay attention, take great notes and you won't have to read the book. (only need it for specifics)
Lectures are interesting. His sarcasm is funny. Seems like he is difficult but he makes the class lecture very interesting and time flies
Save your career and future by AVOIDING this guy, test are so hard the concept from lucture note, book ,and pps; so you have to study from 3 sources; however, if you end up with an "C" you are lucky! a lot of work like there is no class but his! My friends took another prof and they are so happy and relaxed. AVOID!!
He talks too fast during class lecture and his exams are really tough and tricky. The class curve depends on the top 10% students' overall score in the class. I would take it with another instructor if you are unable to keep up with his fast lecture. He's not flexible on how other people can learn the material.
It was summer class. It is tough prof for summer that make you regret!!
Josh Arnold is one of the best business professors at CSULB. If you want an easy A, this class is not for you. But if you show up to class and do the reading you will get a lot out of this class. Not impossible, but not easy by any means. Super entertaining lectures and a funny guy. I highly recommend this professor
He has a very dry sense of humor --- which is awesome. Also he is very good at incorporating examples into his lecture, and he does it in a way that you'll definitely remember! Best teacher I've taken at CSULB yet! Definitely recommend him !!
Great professor. Started late two times but seemed intentional. Right before the Whistleblower lecture which was funny. Modern day Einstein with regards to Organizational Behavior. If you apply his lectures they can really help you in whatever organization you work for. Shaping exercise was a lot of fun. Three words, "take his class."
So this professor will be the realist and funnest professor you'll ever have! He says you're accountable to read everything in the book but he's bluffing. All you need to do is record all his lectures and when he does his test reviews mark all the sections he highlighted that will be on the test saves you some reading time. But ya interesting class
Dr. Arnold is an amazing professor. He really knows how to teach HR concepts in an interesting way. Sure, he may not be the easiest professors, but you will learn a whole lot throughout the course of the semester. He's also really funny and makes lectures quite interesting making me want to go to class.
Those who said that he's a hard professor probably think that because his class is based solely off of reading and lecture. YOU MUST DO THE READING TO PASS THIS CLASS. His jokes to me were a little annoying at first, but you'll eventually learn to get used to his humor. Overall, great professor. I really learned alot from his lectures!
My favorite professor at CSULB. He makes lecture interesting and understandable. Very doable B, but work a little harder and you could get an A. Dry sense of humor. Class concepts aren't hard, honestly. Just apply yourself. The bigger lecture session had no projects; grade is based off quizzes, tests, & attendence. You could get by without the book
He is crazy, his lecture and notes are completely different from exams. You definitely need to read but the book is online.
He gaves the study guilds but it only helped with 60% of the test. No PPT, lecture is confusing and different from the text book. Exam questions are very tricky even if you read the book
Tests are really hard. Lecture and the book are completely different but you need to know both since they will be on the test. He lectures really fast so its hard to take notes. Would not recommend
I used the book to only read what he said "might" be on the test, and got a B. You have to attend class to get the notes. Tests aren't too difficult, just study and UNDERSTAND the concepts. Understanding is key, as you will have to apply it on test questions. Great lecturer, great sense of humor. I definitely would take him again.
One of the best professors at CSULB. This is not a class where you will get an A for memorizing definitions; he'll literally test your knowledge on each subject. Expect all questions on exams to be scenario/conceptual based. Not an HR major but I really enjoyed his class. Also, expect some chair/table flipping action and random outbursts going on.
No ppt lectures, all on whiteboard. He also shows articles & videos to explain ideas. He makes study guides for all quizzes and exams. Explains concepts well. You must read and attend all classes. 4 quizzes (Lowest dropped), midterm, final (not cumulat) & 2 group exercises. Class is graded on a curve. You must work for an A but it is very doable.
If you're a HR major or worked in a lot of service jobs you'll find this class very interesting. READ THE BOOK. 4 quizzes based off 4-5 chapters drops lowest quiz. 1 midterm, class project, and final. He tells you which sections to focus on at end of chapter lectures. read to understand all definitions. Do that and the test will be easy.
Super fun entertaining lectures. Really helps explain the topics. Really know the material in and out, quizzes and exams are hard but if you really know the material they aren't bad. Most questions are application questions. I did struggle a bit but it was my favorite class to go to and I wouldn't hesitate to take another class with this teacher.
Recommend! So funny and very clear on what he will test on. I used the book on reserve in the library but it is mandatory in order to pass. Not so much for reading each chapter but he does give you specific pg #'s of things he did not lecture on that WILL be on the test. Come to class, take good notes and study for exams. You will pass for sure!!!!
Dr. Arnold is one of my favorite professors, he's amazing! His lectures are really interesting & relatable. You have to pay attention in class and read a few pages in the book. He also curves tests based on class average. You can't find a better professor! TAKE HIM if you want to learn. If you wanna slide by, get an A with no work, don't bother.
He threw a chair as part of a demonstration. I just finished his class for the summer and he is honestly such a fun prof! A bit weird but he really makes the class enjoyable & is never boring! His tests are multiple choice & very easy if you study lecture notes & read the chapters! He really cares about his students & shows great respect for you!
He is very uptight and has a dry sense of humor which might be annoying to some. His lectures were pretty boring and seemed to drag forever. I just took his summer class and managed to pass. However, He gave 3 non cumulative exams which are VERY difficult. So make sure you study to do well because otherwise you wont pass.
4 quizzes and the lowest one is dropped, they are directly from the textbook pages he tells you to review and the topics he repetitively covers in class and in review Question's. Lectures are entertaining and educational, be prepared for sarcasm. No HW and only 2 in-class activities + a take home survey for easy extra credit.
I give a lot of credit to Professor Arnold because he's one of the few professors that I've taken at Long Beach that doesn't use Powerpoint. He knows the subject inside and out and actually made the class enjoyable. His quizzes and tests aren't easy and almost entirely conceptual. If you put in the work, getting a good grade should be very doable.
Learned a lot and applied the info from this class to my internship in HR. Thank you professor, this class was enjoyable!
Entertaining lectures, he is really funny and his stories help retain class material. Attendance is not mandatory but beware because some information from lecture are in the exam and not in the book. He tells you what pages to read and shows you practice problems for the exam. Easy A if you apply yourself. Deffidently would take again.
Pay attention to lectures and read the book. If you do this, you'll be fine. His review is exactly like the exams. The exams are tough if you skip class. He makes the lectures very interesting, which makes it easy to retain the information.
He's a really good professor. The quizzes and tests aren't easy though. You have to pay attention in class and read the book thoroughly to do well. He makes class interesting with many good examples and demonstrations so it doesn't get boring. Would definitely take him again if i could
Professor Arnold ran a very structured and organized class. Most classes consisted of lecture covering the content that would be on the quizzes and tests. There are four quizzes, a midterm, and a final. The exercises he gives are easy points. He kept the class interesting with some humor during lecture. Hes a good professor and I would recommend.
this professor doesnt give out any type of study guides. All he does is give you sample questions that arent even on the test. He tell you what goes to read but sometimes theyre too vague. Tests quizzes and midterm were very difficult. He tell you the answers while reviewing without explaining them sometimes. I felt like he rushed duringreview
He is a very good professor and cares about you learning. However, you really need to study and learn the concepts taught in this class, not about memorizing terms. gives 4 quizes, 1 midterm and a final besides some participation assignments which are easy points. He will tell you exactly what to focus for every quiz and exam.
He grades on a straight scale. I took him during regular semester i got an F but thats my fault i didn't study hard, However i had no choice but to take him over the summer again and i ended up with a B+. All you gotta do is follow his notes and read the book and understand the concepts and theories. Overall good professor just stay on top of it
I gotta say he is a tough cookie. Class is comprised of 4 quizzes(27%) ( one he drops), 2 midterm (60%), and one group exercise (13%). Even though he doesn't take attendance, the in-class notes are crucial. His exams are pretty much all concepts based on the theories you learn and a little terminology.
Where do I start with Dr. Arnold.... He is funny but very to the point. I DO NOT suggest taking him if you do not like to read the textbook or want to put the effort into studying. YOU HAVE to study and study a lot. There's a lot of material to know for his tests and quizzes. All in all I learned a lot and feel these concepts are worth knowing.
Dr. Arnold is an amazing professor. He doesn't take attendance, but there are lecture-based questions on the quizzes and tests. There are 4 quizzes (drops the lowest one), a midterm, and a final. He also offered extra credit when I took him. I read the textbook and got an A on every quiz and test.
One of the best professors I've ever taken. His lectures are engaging and hilarious, and you can tell he's really passionate about teaching. All exams and quizzes are multiple choice and are straight from the lecture and textbook. Put in the effort and you'll be fine.
Take him! So funny, a breath of fresh air compared to all the heavy/boring stuff other business classes offer. Doesn't take attendance but you definitely don't want to miss class if you want to pass- he frequently puts class examples in his tests. 5 quizzes, lowest one is dropped, 3 exams. He curves but you need to study if you want that A.
Hard class. Barely curves. Must read the book and pay full attention during lecture. You have to work for a passing grade.
Professor is passionate about what he teaches. He will lecture the whole class with some presentations and a few videos. BE PREPARED TO READ. If you do not read the book or come to class you will NOT pass. You are graded on very few things: 3 out of 4 Quizzes(drops the lowest grade), midterm, Final, and one group activity.
Great Professor! He makes jokes all the time so you never get bored in class. 4 quizzes (lowest gets dropped), 1 midterm, and final. All multiple choice questions. You have to read and go to lectures to do well in his class. He grades FAST! Literally posts quiz and exam grades like 20 mins after you take it including the final. Easy recommend!
His lectures are entertaining, funny and informative. However, his tests/quizzes are COMPLEX and go FAR beyond knowing vocabulary terms. TOUGH grader, many people in my class failed. If you are a bad test taker and have difficulty with situational/conceptual type tests then I recommend staying away from his class.
I really enjoyed this class. I started off with low scores on the quizzes and first midterm. But as the semester continued, I picked it up. I suggest you read the book, take good notes, dont skip class! Aim for above 80% on quizzes, midterm and do all assignments for 100%
I wish all my professors were as passionate as Dr. Arnold. I took him for the summer and don't regret it. Great lectures! We had 3 exams and a few in class assignments. He tells you what to focus on for the exam. Listen to the lectures, because some material is not in the book. You have to read, but he will tell you what to read. Overall happy!
I took Prof Arnold during the summer. At first I was actually intimidated, but he is literally the best prof I've taken at csulb. He kept me interested during the 4 hr lecture. Always making the class laugh and his lectures are super clear and always let's you know what will be on the exams and goes over practice questions. I would take him again!
Loved this professor! Extremely funny and always engages with the class. Be sure to buy the textbook and attend as many lectures as possible as the prof pulls questions for quizzes and tests from both sources. Grading criteria is straightforward - based on the top 10% of the class, so curves are pretty standard. Four quizzes & two exams. TAKE HIM!
Great teacher but he makes his tests so hard (on purpose) that it is not worth it. The grade is purely made up of tests. Curves based on the top 10% but it will not help you at all. So many people dropped this class. Stay away from him if you can. Hardest Intro class ever.
Hardest 300 level course. He doesn't really care about you and he loves making things harder than it should be.
Arnold makes the class unnecessarily hard considering that every business major must take this course (HR major or not). He teaches well and I really enjoyed his lectures but he only taught about half of what exams covered, the rest you taught yourself. All exams/ quizzes had 50-60% class average and he somehow saw no problem with that? too hard
I would say that the professor is passionate to teach the course. HRM is NOT an easy course. Only 4 quizzes and 2 exams no homework but to read whatever he tells you too. I am actually learning but its not an easy class. Good Luck!
midterm & final are 60% of grade and quizzes 30% so this class is very test heavy and his exams are not easy. Although he is great at teaching the material you have to read the textbook thoroughly and pay a lot of attention in class in order to succeed but his lectures were always entertaining and he is very funny so it was easy to focus
Dont ever take him. He was so extra and hard. He didn't let us record the lecture and he was teaching so fast. All your grades base on exams and they are hard. He was overreacting to people cheating. He wrote his own questions for test, 50 questions for 58 minutes, used lockdown browser and webcam, no going back to questions.
Class is hard. Prepare for exam a week before. 5 chapters every exam. Concepts are interesting but you have to make sure u read and understand. Memorizing definitions isn't sufficient. You need to know how to interpret everything because questions are based off of examples. 3 exams, EC, 1 group exercise. I read everything and got 60 on first test.
I would not recommend this professor. Does not post lectures or provide a study guide on the materials that are being tested on. When taking the exam online, you're unable to go back to the previous questions. The exams are 50 questions long with 58 minutes on the timer. This class is mainly based on exams.
This professor makes the subject harder than what it should be. Majority of the class fails and the professor doesn't acknowledge the things he should change in order to improve class learning. This professor refuses to post lecture slides or provide a study guide. I believe those materials allow students to study better and pass exams.
Hes awesome
My fave class (out of 5) this semester. You HAVE to go to class for notes cause he won't post lecture slides. Tests are relatively difficult, like it WOULD be in a university, but if you study, you'll do ok (B 1st midterm, A 2nd midterm). Yeah, the online exams suck w/only 2 ques p/pg & can't go back. so what?! I would totes take this prof again.
The majority of the class fails and the professor doesn't acknowledge the things he should change in order to improve class learning. This professor refuses to post lecture slides or provide a study guide. Students want to study the material and have study guides but he won't listen. he doesn't listen to his students its his way which is wrong.
This is by far one of the EASIEST class you'll ever take! Just read pages professor gives you as a study guide, understand the concepts, and pay attention in lecture. Professor is even so more generous that he gave us a 20 point extra credit opportunity and 5-8 points on every exam. No way you can fail or get any less than a B!! Take him!!
Your grade is just 3 exams including the final (not cumulative) and there isn't any homework except to read the textbook. Since this class is psychology for managers, he makes it extremely interesting. If you are at all interested in this, take his class you'll learn a lot! If you want an easy A, this class may not be for you but I found it easy
this class ISNT EASY. you really have to know the material in order to pass the tests. most of the class would get below a C on each test (theres 3). I really took the time to study & made sure i understood the material so I passed each test w an A. Must attend lecture to understand & he goes over thats stuff not in the book. loved his lectures!
Omg so easy!!! I got Cs on exams literally got an A in the class! He gave us 40 extra credit points and on top of that, 5-8 points on every exam. Take him! Hes caring of his students, just do your work and youll be good. Think this is just a normal college course.
He is a nice person, but his class isn't very nice. It's somewhat overcomplicated for a straightforward subject. Most of the class would get under a C on every test and the average test score would be an F. In addition to that, he doesn't post lecture slides online after class to review, so there's basically a lack of review material for tests.
I actually loved this class, he made lecture interesting and hes pretty funny. Grade is based on 3 exams. Exams were NOT easy, but he does give extra credit. You have to read the textbook and take notes on everything he says. No homework, but A LOT of reading since there were like 5 chapters every exam.
The absolute worst. Rambles the entire lecture. REFUSES to change anything. Half the class would fail his exams(which were major part of grade) gives extra credit but doesn't matter since exams cover so many chapters in the book. Save yourself the time and effort and don't take this class. Don't know how this man got a PHD if all he does is ramble.
AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! His lectures are a bit interesting, but your grade is based off exams. He makes his exams way too hard that it makes studying feel pointless. 5 chapters per exam and only includes about half of the content on the test. If you could take another professor, please do.
Definitely a class you need to work for. He got a lot of slander from students but I liked Prof Arnold. He made lectures interesting & easy to follow. The class however was very test heavy & you dont have much room for error. He makes it impossible to cheat pretty much (understandable) but if you study his study guides, you will be ok.
Prof. Arnold is more than a solid choice for the HRM 360 course. He is really passionate about what he is teaching and he tries to make the class as enjoyable as possible. There are 3 easy assignments, as long as you do them you will probably get full credit, extra credit, and 3 exams on both lecture material and the book.
Professor Arnold is a great professor who I recommend to anyone needing to take hrm360. He tells lots of jokes, some actually good. Fun guy and not boring like some of the other bus. profs. 3 Exams and 4 easy assignments. The assignments are easy but the tests are difficult. You have to really study hard to get a decent score on the tests.
One of my favorite professors Ive taken so far. You have to pay attention to the lectures since he doesnt post PowerPoints on beachboard. Luckily he makes the lectures engaging and entertaining. Tests are a bit difficult since you have to actually know and apply the concepts, but if you pay attention in class/take good notes, then youll do well
He's a great professor. Makes topics easy to understand by showing tons of examples. Make sure you pay attention in class and take good notes bc he doesn't post PowerPoints. Exams are a bit tough involves lecture + book.
Funny guy, keeps lectures interesting and engaging. Exams are based on textbook/lecture crossover but I personally got A's without opening my textbook much. Very few hw's so exams are key but he offers one huge XC chance if you're struggling. He's a no BS guy, clear grading, clear lectures. Show up, study, you'll do fine with him
Great professor. Lectures are pretty entertaining. Class is heavily based on three exams (final noncumulative). Assignments and extra credit are easy and give lots of points. Exams are pretty average because he writes them. Read, pay attention, and study. I got a 105%. He also curves. Not much work required--just study the day prior to exams.
Very engaging lecturer. His tests can be a bit hard depending on what questions he selects. Gives extra credit, and has assignments that are very easy and boost your grade a lot. Other than that it is all tests. Take good notes and look at the parts of the book he tells you to and tests should be fine.
one of my fav prof this sem! he's hilarious & has super engaging lectures. he explains material in a way that u can understand & remember. u have to show up to class & take good notes since he doesnt post ppts. there's 3 exams, no hw, & only 3 easy exercises. for exams, study class notes & read parts of textbook he tells u to and you'll do great!
No hw, only 3 exams. Lecture and book heavy, but he makes it so easy. Lectures are easy to follow because he's so interesting. Reviews EXACT material that'll be on exam. Easy A if you listen and study beforehand. Clear and communicative and definitely a fun guy to listen to. Wish all my professors were like Arnold. 1 major & easy EC opportunity.
Pretty good professor overall. I find this class pretty hard just because it is lecture and test heavy and there are very few other options to get points. Don't screw up on tests as there are only 3 and definitely don't miss the few assignments we have. Read the book, class is pretty straight forward.
Professor Arnold's course is better to be taken in person. You are required for heavy readings and a bit difficult exams (3 exams); however, he provides easy assignments and extra credit. A textbook is required but is available for free online. Attendance is a must because he does not provide his lectures. Get classmates to send you the note.
Best way to study for his exams are taking good in-class notes, reading over the sections he highlights, and reading the summary/vocab at the end of the chapters. It was kind of rough because it was a 4hr summer class, but he's funny and keeps everyone engaged. I highly recommend him! Easy A if you put in the effort and do all the assignments.
I just took Dr. Arnold for summer (4 hours long) But he curves on his test, and is very knowledgeable about the class. I think that if I would have taken him during the semester I could of done better, but his class is not hard at all. Take him :)
Professor Arnold's lectures are very interesting and he provides many examples that help you understand the concept. Be prepared to read and review in class notes. Make sure not to miss lecture as it is easy to fall behind in class. Very solid teacher.
This class is challenging, if I'm being honest. He's very test-oriented, and I am not a good test taker. But the test is worth so much of your grade, which I'm not the biggest fan of. Engaging and informative lectures, but he's a little intense for my taste. The tests are application questions, not memorization, so hit the books.
The lectures are interesting. He knows how to break down concepts into real-life scenarios. I am not a good test taker, but if you put in the effort and study, you will pass. Class is not mandatory, but I recommend showing up for lectures since some of the concepts he addresses are not in the books. Tests are challenging but doable.
Took him for HRM 360. His lectures are engaging and he knows his stuff. Beware: His tests are very difficult because he adds a lot of lecture-material questions that are almost impossible to remember. He's funny tho
Very engaging and funny. His subject is not a difficult one, which seems to be the reason he overcompensates with many odd Qs on his exams. Question ex: "What book did I talk about in class?". He talked about this book for not more than 10 seconds. Attendance not mandatory but won't do well on test if you skip because of questions stuff like these
Prof. Arnold is one of the best professors I have had. Very clear policies and grading criteria. He has a sarcastic sense of humor and his lectures were engaging. 80% of your grade is based on three noncumulative exams, the other 20% on three easy exercises. One extra credit opportunity. Read the textbook and come to class to do well on exams.
Great professor, with good humor. Makes things interesting, and very sarcastic. Go to lecture and study, pretty easy course as long as you go to class. 3 exams and 3 assignments, no homework.
I took it this summer. There is no homework; he gave extremely easy exercise assignments. He curves exams if only the average is not good. He is super enthusiastic/nice. I don't know how he is during the regular 15 weeks, but less work/easier in the summer I think. Just focus studying on for the exams based on good lecture notes.
I honestly really enjoy Dr. Arnold's class. It is very engaging and he uses a lot of real life examples or reenactments to get you to remember the topics we cover. It does require you to read the textbook if you really wanna do well on his exams. Three exams and three exercises (which are pretty simple) are part of the grade + extra credit.
Great professor, very funny, I really enjoyed his class and never got bored in his class. However, his tests are extremely hard, especially the final so you really have to go to lecture and read the book or you won't pass.
EXAMS ARE MADE TO TRICK YOU ON PURPOSE. EVERY QUESTION IS A TRICK QUESTION and the exams make up 80% of the grade. AND BARELY CURVES. HE ASKS QUESTIONS ON THE EXAM like what is true about this one guy on the video that we watched once and barely talked about or like what is the name is the guys we watched on youtube once.
Very funny guy and very difficult exams! he makes up his test questions so pay attention in lectures. He offers some extra credit so make sure you take advantage of that because it matters.
very funny guy very difficult exams. offers some extra credit so take advantage of that because it matters a lot in the end.
The exams are extremely difficult. Questions are written to trick you on purpose. If you're not good at taking tests, then do not take this class because no matter what you do you will get a low letter grade. Lecture PPTs ARE NOT posted anywhere so if you're not good at taking notes, then do not take it.
He's an outgoing and sarcastic teacher with alot of dry humor so lectures are always interesting!! No attendance, gives extra credit oppurtunity. tests can be a bit hard so if you want a good grade, you have to study. the only thing hes strict about is cheating when taking tests which is very valid. overall great professor and would take him again
His exams aren't too bad but you need to read the textbook and go to lectures. His exams always have very specific, lecture based questions. There are 3 exams, 3 activities, and 1 extra credit assignment. Make sure to do all of the activities and extra credit because they're easy points. For exams, he gives you the pages to read in the textbook.
I don't think the subject matter is as difficult as the professor presents it to be. He teaches the concepts well, but his structure is difficult. Most of your grade relies on 3 exams, so study hard. Slides are not available, so attendance is crucial. BTW, he has no idea how canvas works.
Really enjoyed his class. I felt like I learned a lot. His lectures were not dry and very easy to follow. Make sure you write everything down!! Attendance is not mandatory but if you want a good grade be prepared to come to every class.
The professor has a great sense of humor, but the exams are quite challenging. Attending lectures and using the textbook are essential. Unstuckstudy can be a helpful study tool alongside other resources.
I enjoyed taking this professor. He makes the lectures interesting and funny. Class has 3 tests, in-class assignments & extra credit. Make sure you attend lecture and take notes as he doesn't post lecture slides. He tells you which area in the book he will test you on and gives exam sample questions. He sets you up for success. Would take again!
He is probably my favorite at CSULB, he is very sarcastic and chaotic but that is what kept me engaged in. Beware he does tend to yell randomly but you get used to it. For lecture he does not take attendance but if you don't go you won't do good on the tests. Start studying early because the exam is 50 questions and it's a bunch of terms.
He's the best professor I've had so far. He puts a lot of time and energy into his lectures. He may get frustrated if the class is quiet and/or not participating, so I suggest you participate. He also tells us what to read in our textbooks, saving a lot of time. Attendance is not required, but he doesn't post his lecture online.
Incredible Professor! Always open to questions and a very interactive lecturer! Tests are extremely difficult, but he gave a decent curve (5-10 pts for each exam) plus 4% extra credit opportunity added to the grade! Take him, no regrets here!
Honestly the worst professor at Long Beach. Tries too hard to be funny when he should be focusing on explaining the material. He has some sort of stick for making your life difficult probably something internally he's dealing with but an overall headache of a person. Stay away if you don't plan on prioritizing this class.
Professor Arnold is very straightforward and clearly outlines what is required to pass his class (take good notes, read, and study). I believe he wants everyone to succeed, but if you don't study, he won't have pity on you. You get what you put in! I enjoyed his class—he has a dry sense of humor and high energy. Overall, he's a great professor.
Honestly, there was hardly any homework in this class so your grade was heavily based on exams. you also need to come to class because he does not post any of his lecture slides so if you plan on not attending, I suggest having a strong discord team or reading the book. Other than that, his teaching style is great + he provides ec :)
I really enjoyed this class if you are willing to show up every class. He is a great lecturer & keeps you on your toes with how he will present. He does not post slides so you have to show up or get notes from someone. There is basically no HW & 3 tests and in person exercises. You need to read the textbook for tests but does tell you what to read.
His nice but grade is made up of 3 exams. Exams are difficult and he does not post slides or study guide so you have to go lecture.
One thing is for sure, he doesn't know how to use Canvas. Test make up your whole grade in this class. Very loud and obnoxious during class, he would give me a headache sometimes. Also expect your failing test scores to be public for the whole class!! Good luck ;)
Very knowledgeable in the OB field, and has a good teaching style. It's easy to learn because he does know what he is talking about. Grade is mostly based on 3 exams that were not cumulative, lectures can be intense but the material itself is not complex. Do some basic reading, pay attention to his lectures and you will be fine.
Worst HRM professor. Makes the class harder than every other prof. AVOID if you want to pass and not a HRM major
He's an alright professor. Knowledgeable in OB field but his class was just annoying. The exam will cover things he's never mentioned in lectures but ur supposed to know it thru reading the textbook, so if ur not used to that teaching style, I suggest you avoid this course. Lectures were alright. Extra credit is super easy
Very engaging professor. He'll definitely wake you up if you have him in the morning. He does not take attendance but you do not want to miss his class since he doesn't post slides on canvas. Keep up with lectures and readings and you will do fine on the exams. Barely any homework.
His exams cover lecture, videos he shows during lectures, in class activities, and the textbook. You must read the textbook carefully in order to do well in the class and you must take notes on what he says during class. He's an engaging lecturer, very knowledgeable on his subject. There was little extra credit and some easy group work too.
You must read the textbook since a lot of concepts on the exam are in there (he also tells you which pages to really know, but everything is fair game). He's super funny and lectures can be long but he'll make them entertaining sometimes. There are some opportunities for extra credit. I would attend every class because of partner assignments.
Ppl who didn't bother to do the easy group exercises & the extra credit regretted it once final grades were up so don't repeat that mistake LOL. He doesnt take attendance but you will prob tank the class if you're ever absent. Take notes & pay attention on what material/the purpose of the exercises are(theyll be exam Qs). I enjoyed his class!
