Very hot....If you like looking at eye candy take his class. He's very tall and handsome. If he was married I would try to flirt with him. VERY HOT!!!!!
Ummmm lets get serious here he is a very good teacher. he teaches well, very helpful, and he will not take late work. Late work is a no no, you will only receive half credit for it. Let get no so serious here, very sexy young stud :) He is good looking, he got the full package. I have dreams about him :) Overall very nice guy easy to get along with
Best teacher ever!! i always thought i was bad at math until i had a class with mr. bowers. He made everything understandible, and totally prepared us for the test. He always gave us time in class to work through problems so we could ask question. Not alot of homework either. I wish i could take him for every math class!
Bower's is cool. Had him for 161, but not for 263. I am kicking myself everyday for that. Take Bowers for 263 because they dont have many instructors teaching it and Bowers is by far the best. By far.
This guy is awesome.. I am HORRIBLE at math and my 070 and 080 teachers said I would get eaten alive in college algebra, but bowers made it so easy to understand that I actually enjoy it.. Grading is fair and he's always helpful.. Take this prof!!!
I truthfully didn't like Mr Bowers much at first but he quickly became one of my better professors. He doesn't always explain things well, but he is extremely helpful and really seems to care about how his students do. He is a sweet guy, I wish I could take math with him again! My advice for this class is to ask for help and take good notes.
Mr. Bowers is awesome. He is a knowledgable and helpful teacher who makes math understandable. His classroom is almost always cheerful, if not always fun. We learned mostly from the Lab Manual and many MANY wonderfully useful handouts, but you will need the book for assigned homework. A = moderate studying. Mr. Bowers is an excellent teacher!
good teacher, makes class enjoyable. Hardly ever gives a lot of homework. He is very relaxed and his teaching is too. if you need a math class, deff take his!
Mr. Bowers is very helpful and is willing to go out of his way to make sure his students suceed. Mat-263 is a rather difficult course so some extra help may be needed. He does look at your work and gives partial credit for showing your work. He really wants his students to suceed!
Bowers is a great teacher. Not a lot of homework, but you still learn! I have had math classes where I did twice as much work and learned only half as much. Come to class every day and there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get an A. Class is fun, lots of group work, and fun projects. You learn through doing, which is great.
Bowers is a great professor, strict on late turn in, so do your work. Makes everything easy to understand, and willing to help. ASK ABOUT EXCEL IF YOU DO NOT KNOW!!!! A side note: He will be teaching mat 171 (precalc) in fall of 09... would highly recommend this teacher.
If you need to take math take it with him. He is really mellow but always smiling. Know your calculator well because you need to graph models on every test. If you understand that and pay attention you will do great!
took class online. 4 big tests at school, proctored, and a Final Exam. VERY HELPFUL teacher through the discussion board.
It's nearly impossible to get an A in this class due to the ridiculously difficult exams which are most of your grade. 2/3 or more of students dropped.
Very helpful teacher, getting back to you via email about webassign and stuff. Not a good explainer and his tests are harder than the problems you work on. tough to even get a b
really good teacher.i'm a international student but i can totally understand what he said. i took every notes he had written on the board and the test just like we did on the web signment.so if you do your homework, you'll easy pass this class with an A. i hope i can take his Mat263 in this summer as well. higher comment .
This teacher was amazing!Even if I was failing I would want to stay in his class just because it was so much fun. Also I'm 89% sure he's a wizard.
Hi all! First I would like to say that I was terrified when I signed up for this class; some of my friends made math 115 seem horrible. However, Mr. Bowers made this class enjoyable! His directions are clear and he also participates in discussion boards. Also, he gives you useful tips! Awesome professor!!!! :)
Solid instructor with a calm but flexible lecture style. In linear algebra in spring 2011 we had 6 WebAssign-based homework assignments, 6 quizzes, 4 exams, and a final. He has endless patience for questions in and out of class, whether it's basic stuff or oddball advanced math questions from math majors. Generous with his time. Demanding exams.
Awesome, funny teacher! Gives 1-2 quizzes each week but that was in a summer course, probably less quizzes in a standard semester! 4 tests...they are pretty much the same as the quizzes...extended quizzes you can call them...goes over the same material a thousand times for you..if you need help! take this teacher!
I took this class over the summer. 4 tests, 10 quizzes, 8 homework assignments. Posts everything you'll need/do on Blackboard. The lectures were easy to follow, and he was beyond helpful. Very approachable guy. Humorous personality. Fantastic class, overall. I wish he was teaching 172!
Mr. Bowers was always available to answer questions before and after class. The material is a bit challenging but he gives complete clear explanations and plenty of examples/study material.
Bowers was a great math teacher! He is very chill and always answers any questions to make sure the student understands. He has a great sense of humor and laughs at his own jokes which actually makes math class fun!
Very easy going and laid back. Takes time in class to make sure everyone is keeping up and on the same page. He is very good at what he does. Highly recommended!
He's a cool teacher, and he knows exactly what he's talking about. However, he's not very good with providing review materials, if you are self motivated person, this is the class for you, because he will not push you to do anything, which is normal for college teacher. For the final exam review, he did made a few mistakes on the answers section
This is a difficult subject for me. Bowers is Mat smart, really nice guy he can make everything easier to understand. Use him, he can explain things very well. Lots of word probs on test, these were hard, practice them!
Mr. Bowers is such a nice guy! He's very patient and mellow. The material isn't all that fun in general, but Mr. B was a great teacher. I'd highly recommend taking him for a math class.
If you are great at math already, definitely take this class. If you suck at math and needs someone who will help you. Do not take this class. Multiple people ask questions in his class and if he doesnt make you look like an idiot in front of the class he just wont answer you. Very disrespectful. If you can get over his attitude he can be helpful.
If you are good in math, then take this class. If you are not like me, look for a different teacher. He does not explain the material in depth. Even when people ask questions, he acts like they already know it and instead instructs them look at their notes. I am an A student, but I will be lucky if I get a C in this class.
Bowers is a funny/sarcastic guy. his class is fun and I think he presents the material well, but he can be a bit condescending sometimes.
Hilarious. Teaches class and makes it fun and easy. Super easy to understand! Best professor so far!
Professor Bowers is a great teacher that cares about his students math education. He has a great sense of humor and will take time to help students if they come in a timely manner before a test. He does create study guides which are extremely helpful and are an accurate representation of what will be on the test. I loved the class, and I hate math!
One of the best Math Teachers at Wake Tech. Willing to help anyone before class, after class. Takes time out for exam reviews in class. Will respond to emails in descent time. I'm not a math person and appreciate Josh helping me every step of the way. If you don't get the material, just ask the man. he's mad cool.
I don't even have him as a professor but he's been super helpful during his office hour in the ILC. Also, he's super hot. Just sayin! If you've gotta take math, might as we'll take it with someone easy on the eyes...
Love his sarcasm :) He has an amazing way of explaining things so that they seem ridiculously simple. Who knew algebra could be fun.
I took the hybrid version of this class and it was very easy! You are expected to teach yourself the week's lesson which he attaches videos to help, but he reviews it all in class and takes questions. There's about 4 tests, 4 excel labs, a group project, and a project you do on your own. Bowers is very nice, funny, and very flexible with everything
I had to drop Mat 172 before and was very nervous when I took his class. He explains the material very good and shows the hints. He is absolutely awesome. I highly recommend him.
I don't recommend buying the textbook as it is only used once (maybe). For anything else you're not clear on, he will give you links to YouTube videos. Very easy class, very easy mid-term and final exams. Just keep up with the weekly assignments and the 2 projects.
nice guy, but makes a hard test.
Overall, good teacher. However I don't think he writes his own tests. Gives very easyvague homework and examples in class, but then pulls out the hardest questions on the tests, which I never felt I was prepared for. Doesn't respond to emails on the weekend. Very fair with grading. Says "you don't have to know this" and puts it on test.
mr. bowers is an amazing teacher. he is an easy grader and you can pass the class with an A.
He is a nice instructor with a nice sense of humor. I was very bad at Maths. However, with the help of Mr. Bowers, got an A in this class. Tests are a little hard, but he grades them nicely.
The online version of this class is really demanding of the student and I'd highly recommend study groups. Professor Bowers is very accommodating to student needs and helpful when approached with issuesquestions. You will have lots of videos to watch and the optional lab manual is recommended due to the tests being very difficult.
Fantastic teacher. He makes learning math enjoyable
He's a good teacher and will help you if you need it. However, the tests are bit unpredictable. Sometimes the questions on the tests were questions never seen before in the unit. Also he's a good teacher to take if you're not great at math. Also he doesn't care for attending after maybe 2 or 3 weeks.
Mr. Bowers was the best Math instructor I've ever had. I was in his office quite a bit and he was there to help all the time, and was happy to do so. I would tell anyone to take his classes! He explains everything clearly and makes sure everyone understands the concept before moving on. He is a very fair grader too. Remember to show your work!
Mr. Bowers is what an ideal math instructor needs to be, took him online for calculus, very clear instructions and has complete control over technology which is important for online class. would recommend!
I think he is typical math teacher, nothing out of the ordinary, but I think he plays politics about who he decides to approache in class to provide help or conversate with. Sometimes it was too obvious.
I'm surprised Mr. Bowers has such great reviews on here. I think if you are already okay at math, then he's great, but if you are not good at math, he isn't very helpful. Didn't respond to emails efficiently, lied about what grades he would be dropping at the end of the semester, and overall, not very helpful. Don't take if you are not good at math
Unless you're good at math, i wouldn't recommend. He knows what he's doing, but he's not always clear at explaining math enough for you to understand it if you are someone who needs to hear and see every step. There are things on the homework and practices that were not gone over in class. He mostly skims through lessons and notes.
Probably the worst math teacher I've ever had, hands down. I got a good grade so its not about grades. This guy does not care at all about his students, hence the fact that no one shows up for class ever. He knows math but he is terrible at explaining it. You have to learn everything on your own e.g. youtube, etc. Also this teacher has biases.
To be honest, he's the best math teacher I've ever had. His class was challenging - it's Precalc Trig. It's supposed to be. Bowers makes it way easier than I thought it could be. He has great study tools and is always willing to help you understand the math. He's got a great sense of sarcastic humor and is super competent at teaching. Fav class.
Do not go by the good reviews you see for this instructor. I did that and I was conpletely misleaded. He is a terrible instructor. He will constantly give you vague answers to questions.
He is easy going. Not a very hard grader. Tests were not hard (but of course you have to learn the material). He was in his office a lot (more than just in his office hours) so i was able to go to his office to get help when needed. Even when i asked many questions, he answered each question nicely.
Awesome teacher! He is always respectful and willing to help students! he is pretty funny and can make math class fun and up beat. if you have a a question just raise your hand and he will help every time!
He is an amazing teacher, always cheerful and funny every single day! Its a tough class but he makes it bearable. He isn't strict with grading and doesn't take points off for simple mistakes. He quizzes every other week. Just put in the effort and you'll do great in the class!!
He's an anazing class and I enjoyed taking world religion with him and I highly recommend taking his classk
He is a great instructor.
Great Professor
He gave students plenty of opportunity to discuss problems and find answers independently. While the material was challenging, tests were often easier than expected.
He is an amazing teacher and cares for the students he is very respectful, but you need to go to class, if you skip one day you are going to totally feel lot, so I don't suggest that. Easy test exactly like practice problems and a super easy project which is an individual project so that's nice. I would take him again for all precalc- and calc clas
I think he is good. personally, I like him a lot, yet if you are not that good in math better to take with another instructor.
Mr. Bowers is by far the best professor I have ever taken at Wake Tech. He really cares about his students and is willing to answer any of your questions. The class is difficult, (It's supposed to be, it's precalc Trig) but Mr. Bowers presents all the material clearly and concisely. Don't pay attention the bad reviews,I highly recommend Mr. Bowers!
Awesome Instructor . Easy A , he is so chill and intelligent. All I can say is that you should't take this course with another instructor. AWESOME!
A very awesome professor to take... Very very very easy and fair grader loved his class such a respected professor he is the best teacher ever for clac. Will take good care of uh if u r lost in middle go meet him in his office hours it will help you no doubt. I Highly recommend to take him.
Whatever professor you take you will need to study a lot on your own for this class so that is a given. This professor is funny which mad this course tolerable, I enjoyed the atmosphere in this class and ended up laughing the most in it out of all my other classes ! be warned he dosnt really review for tests in class so you need to do that alone
He is one of the best WTCC professors, he does a very good job explaining the material.
Great prof for calc 2 which is a really difficult course. Lectures started to get a little worse towards the end of the semester, but were still better than any other math prof I've had. I wish he was teaching a seated calc 3 course so I could take him again.
He makes his class very hard, and the test even harder. He is a very tough grader and gives no extra credit, and no curves. He doesn't try to help you out when your struggling and his advice was to "drop the class" before the withdrawal date. Instead of being helpful, he has the attitude of "I'm the teacher so I can do what I want". Stay away.
Take this mans class. Dont think about it, just do it.
Down to earth kind of guy, really enjoyed taking his class. He's been doing this for a while so he knows how students are looking at the material and how to explain it so you understand. Makes classes enjoyable. Kind of a slow grader. Slow to respond to emails sometimes, but not terribly so.
Very helpful and kind. He is very organized and is a legend of a teacher. He cares for all of his students and makes an effort to know all of them by name. Definitely would take again!
It was a waste of time. Just a heads up, this teacher recyles his jokes.
Took over the summer during the 2020 pandemic. Calculus 3 is not easy, but as long as you study and make the effort, Bowers can be a very fair grader. I had to take his class online given the ongoing pandemic, but I wish I could've taken him seated. If you have the choice, take him seated. The online tests are very difficult.
Mr. Bowers truly cares about his students' success. He always explains new concepts in depth and goes through a few examples for everything. He's always happy to answer questions thoroughly in and outside of class. Lots of webassign quizzes every unit, but they're good practice as long as you pace yourself. Homework isn't required, but recommended!
This professor is the best. I took pre calc trig with him and i got an A. I hate math but he made it fun. He is caring and an easy grader, he is always ready to help. He wants the best for his students. If you want to take any math class, take it with him he is literally the best.
Took him in the fall as an online class because in person classes are not available due to COVID. He takes 2 weeks to answer emails. He does not care about anyone's grades and everything on his tests are 10x more difficult then any homework or quiz. I asked him for help throughout the semester and he gave vague answers or said, "look it up". Worst!
Professor Bowers is a decent professor for Calc3 but his lectures are just YouTube videos from other content creators for his online class. I would say do all of the homework and all the study guides as they are similar to the tests. Some tests are hard while others are easy. He does respond to emails at a reasonable time.
Makes dumb busy work assignments for attendance despite the class being asynchronous. Oh yeah and I emailed him to get a one day extension on a lab because my brother hung himself this semester and its been hard to do work. Told me he cant give extensions unless there are extenuating circumstances. Only got the extension after my mom emailed too.
I took his class in spring of 2020 and wish he was teaching seated classes for calc 3 next semester. He really tries his best to make sure that you are ready for his tests. His classes are engaging and he throws a bit of humor in there when he can.
Professor Bowers was the best professor I've had. He explained everything incredibly well. Everything you need to know is explained in detail in his videos. As long as you put in the work you can get an A.
Great Instructor. A few things to keep in mind, this class has A LOT of materials. The instructor is NOT an easy grader. The final is cumulative, the reviews are useless. Just make sure to spend a lot of time on this class each unit is a different curve. Which out for Series section. Got a beautiful F grade in this class.
Bowers is the best professor at Tech. I've taken calc 1 and 2 with other teachers, and they don't even compare to Bowers. He will explain things in class in ways that make complete sense. All of the homework is on Webassign, labs are optionally collective work, and I highly recommend using his office hours. He is the best math professor we have.
Bowers is really good. Calc 3 isn't easy but he is very responsive, gives partial credit on tests, and gives great feedback, all while being easily accessible via Teams and email. The class has 4 tests and a final, with tests being 60% of the class. Tests aren't too bad if you study but you definitely need to know the material. Proctored tests.
Prof is great. Take his class seated, if possible. Online lessons are lectures pulled from youtube. This is the first class I've ever had to withdraw from. The material is difficult. The summer makes it hard to catch up because it's fast paced. So if you're behind, you've already failed. No hate to Bowers. Calc 3 is no joke.
Professor Bowers loves to use every second of class. Half the time we do not even get through the entire worksheet. He is GREAT at answering email and webassigns and giving you extra chances when asked. He also is great at explaining reasonings behind answers when asked.
The online version of this class was hard for me. All the videos were taken from YouTube and sometimes wouldn't even give you the information you needed so I had to go through the homeworks, practice quizzes, book, and the lectures to make sure I understood what was going on. Do not take it online if you're planning on taking other hard classes.
The lessons are pulled off of youtube. The review guides are not really helpful and the final is unnecessarily difficult. This is not a cool move considering that it can replace your lowest test grade. He also gives no extra credit, and no curves. He also ignored my email when I asked for help. I do not recommend you take his class online.
Would not recommend taking this course online. I had an in person class once a week, where he explained material thoroughly and very well, but the online material was very confusing. This is a hard class, and the tests are very difficult. Study and practice as much as you possibly can. Don't rely on web assign to bring up your grade, it wont.
Take it seated! Always willing to explain the math, just ask. He will help work you through concepts, and office hours are a great resource for ones you're stuck on. He gives a heads up on in class quizzes the class before, but it's not posted online, so keep track of those so you aren't blind sided or miss one. No make ups, but drops lowest score.
Took class in person. Lectures made sense. Always willing to go the extra mile to help out, including extended office hours. Lots of quizzes, BUT two are dropped, and more opportunity for "fluff" grades. Tests covered material well. TO DO WELL IN THIS CLASS: Do the homework, do the exam reviews he gives and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Great professor and explains things very clearly. GIves great feedback on projects and follows grading criteria. There is no extra credit in his class but you dont really need it. Go to lectures, do the study guides and you'll get a good grade!
I enjoyed his online course. The class videos are very helpful for understanding the concepts. I liked that the project was mostly a solo one, so you do not depend on others for completion. He is accessible on Teams multiple times a week to help with questions. The exams are the largest part of the grade. I highly recommend him!
He is a good lecturer, but his approach to certain topics are extremely difficult to understand. A professor's online youtube video's basically got me through triple integrals. Do not expect any extensions of any kind. I was struggling with course load and my mental health and was told my circumstances were not extension applicable.
If you are signing up for Calculus 3 as an online only course like me, youre one tough cookie. I worked not super hard in this class and I still have a C! He actually doesnt seem that harsh of a grader, very fair Id say. Just. If your taking calc 3 online, youre probably also crazy, and expect to do all the learning on your own discipline.
Reasonable deadlines (homeworks due each week on tuesday at 11:59, new sections open up on wednesday). The videos and practice handouts he posts are really all you need to prep for the tests. Four labs, one for each unit.
Very chill professor, knows what he's talking about and genuinely cares about the material. Solid lectures and provides more than enough practice through PDFs with questions from each section and discussion boards due each week on Sunday at midnight. Only reason my grade was ass was because I got screwed by something personal mid-semester. :p
Bowers made me hate calc (and I love calc). Tests are nothing like the review sheets, though he is generous with grading sometimes. He was rude when I emailed him with a concern where he was definitely in the wrong. Online learning resources all come from the same place and don't reflect the content in the homework. Do not take calc 3 with him.
Took this class online during the summer, anyone can pass this class if they're doing the homeworks. He gives review PDF's and a study guide which contains test questions. Wouldn't take with other STEM classes, there are 5 online homeworks due every week and tests every other week. Utilize Teams, he answers!!
I hate Calculus, but the way this class was structured/taught actually made it enjoyable for me for the first time in my life. Would definitely recommend taking MAT273 with Bowers. Legend.
Do not recommend him
Professor Bowers is overall fine. The weekly lectures that he uses to deliver course content did a decent job at going over necessary content. The vast majority of the final grade comes from the four unit exams and the final exam, each worth 15%. He gives partial credit work work done on these exams, and responds to emails within a few days.
Over half the class dropped the course. Felt like professor didn't care. Gave unclear instructions and graded hard. The high-point of this class was when my house got flooded and my family and I were trapped for days. He was understanding when I asked for an extension. Would not recommend.
Professor Bowers is excellent! He is accessible on Teams and offers great feedback! He was asking students for feedback because he was in the process of redesigning his online course and will add his own videos. He gives partial credit! I absolutely recommend him, but beware—the class is challenging and you must invest time to succeed!
Bowers is a pretty nice professor who is super accessible outside class. His online class was structured which made getting through the semester a cake walk. 100% would recommend:)
Bowers is solid, and always accessible online. Your main problems with mat273 over the summer is how fast it goes. You can't procrastinate at any time and it can get really stressful, even if its your only summer class. The tests make up 80% of the grade, and theyre constructed response, not mcq. The class is definitely doable, but not a breeze.
Very helpful professor! I got really stuck on the math project, but I was able to get in contact with him on a meeting quickly! He understands students struggle and answers outside of office hours. He helped me with getting my grade up! - Just ask for help in a timely manner.
It's been 8 years or so since I have taken calc and I should end the class with a B. This class will require you to put lots of effort outside of work. I didn't do that just bare minimum but honestly just alot of practice. He is a generous grader and gives lots of partial credit for test which is honestly why my grade isn't so bad.
