Dr. Josh Edwards (Jedwa) is by far the best chem teacher on campus. He is very young and fresh but does his job well. Gives a bunch of extra credit but has clicker questions every class. His tests don't make or break your grade as much as other classes. He really wants everyone to succeed!
Josh Edwards is a young prof but I find myself learning more from him than most of my older, more experienced profs. You can tell he really cares about your grade and that you are satisfied with your performance in the course. He offers lots of opportunities for bonus and gives reasonable time to complete assignments.
Professor Edwards is a great professor in the way he allows his students to be able to succeed no matter the circumstances. He is accommodating regarding material, lecture content, and any grading issue. He does in class iclicker questions which make attendance mandatory, but the lectures are never dull.
Jedwa is a great prof, but do be warned that this course is quite a bit of work. His grading scale is set up in a way that limits the impact of tests on your overall grade, HOWEVER, the flip side of this is that there is quite a bit of work. He gives you many tools to be successful, but you have to be vigilant and put a lot of effort in to do well.
Super nice professor !! He loves to tell stories about himself back when he was studying chem and it's actually pretty inspirational. He's a super nice guy who does a great job of vulgarizing the material so that it is easier to understand. He gives A LOT of extra credit opportunities and there are so many resources to do well on tests.
Jedwa is a wonderful professor, and he genuinely wants his students to succeed. He grades fairly and despite having such a large group of students, he is always asking if we have any questions and checking that his students are on pace. His grading is very fair as well, his motto is "everyone is able to get an A in this class." I heavily recommend!
Prof Edwards is truly an amazing professor, having virtually no chemistry in high school due to covid I was really worried about taking it in college but he grades very fairly and the tests don't break you. He genuinely wants you to get a good grade and gives you the resources to do so. For the last midterm, he had a weekly review over zoom.
Jedwa is the best! He's so caring and actually wants his students to succeed. He loves chemistry and really teaches with a passion. His midterms are set up so that they don't impact your grade too much, but you need to go to lecture in order to do iClicker questions. I would 100% recommend!
Jedwa is the best professor I've ever had. I'm taking him for 120 next semester and couldn't recommend him more. He his genuinely so kind and caring and wants each an every student to succeed personally. His lectures are interesting and truly helpful. If you can take Jedwa- he really is the goat!!
Jedwa is such an awesome professor! He gives a ton of bonus and is quick to respond to emails. He uses iClicker so attendance is mandatory, and there is a fair amount of homework. His exams are online and aren't a large percentage of your grade. He is a popular professor so his sections fill up fast. All of us loved him- he is the best!
TAKE THIS PROF! He is the MOST caring and kind prof. He is so understanding when it comes to homework and exams. He really puts himself in other's shoes and knows that not everyone has a good chem background. He has NEVER been rude nor gave off any kind of negative energy. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT to save your grade by a whole letter grade! TAKE HIM!!
Jedwa is the most understanding prof EVER! He is absolutely the sweetest and most generous prof. His main goal is for everyone to understand the content so when it comes to grading, he is generous. I had 6 exams including the final but the final is only 7% of your grade and the exams are not weighed enough to kill you. A LOT of extra credit too!
Sweetest guy ever and a little bit dorky. I suck at paying attention to lectures, but when I did pay attention, he was very good at explaining difficult topics and their practical applications in chemistry. He doesn't give curves, but he does have lots of small extra credit opportunities, so your results will correlate to the effort you put in.
Literally the best Professor I've ever had! 1000/10. He's actually funny, makes chemistry understandable, and does everything he can to see you succeed. I look forward to his class every week!! TAKE HIM!
Jedwa is wonderful ! Chem is hard as is, but he makes it fun and doable. He is a dork but funny and a great lecturer.
I love this man, and he truly is a fantastic professor. I'd take him a million times again if I could.
Made an account here just to recommend Edwards. Amazing lecturer, gives tons of extra credit, and legitimately cares that students understand the concepts, and not just memorize to regurgitate for tests. Made chemistry very enjoyable.
Lots of extra credit. All homework, quizzes, and exams are online. Jedwa is a funny professor that gives you every chance not to fail.
LITERALLY THE BEST PROF EVER!!! He made chemistry so easy for me to understand love the way he teaches. He provides you with notes that are very helpful during his lectures! Attendance is kind of mandatory since he does iClicker questions that go towards your grade. He does a lot of extra credit! All of his midterms are online except for the final.
Edwards is AMAZING. lectures are engaging , lots of iclicker questions so attendance is mandatory. Lots of hw and weekly quizzes all online, but it helps u understand material & it's manageable. 4 exams, online & he prepares you for them to the best of his ability. In-person cumulative final. TAKE HIM!!
Very good Prof. Basically the best Professor in this semester.
Very cool and chill professor, makes it feel like anyone can learn chemistry. He is also funny at times and gives a crapload of extra credit. As long as you do the extra credit and assignments, it's hard to get below a B in this class.
Jedwa made chemistry 10x more bearable and less stressful than I expected it to be. He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit and shows that he cares about his students succeeding. All of the exams have been on Aleks and have been open note, so try to write down as much as possible during lectures. I have no complaints about him.
Jedwa made chemistry SO much easier to understand. He tries to teach concepts in a way that students will understand and grasp onto. He genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed which is evident throughout his lectures. He offers a ton extra credit, the tests are online, and its all open note. He also makes jokes in class lol
Joshua made chemistry easy to understand and always tried to make sure everyone was on the same page. He truly cares if you are understanding the material and encourages you to ask questions if you do not understand. Really recommend.
Incredible professor, really cares about students. Tests are open-note but still difficult. If you use the resources he gives you, you'll do well. Homework load can be heavy but nothing too hard. Very available out of class and adjusted office hours for convenience. Relates with students and is funny during lectures, definitely take his course!
Super funny and caring professor. Rushes through lectures a lot, but he's a new professor. All exams and quizzes are open note. Lots of homework but manageable and really helps you understand what's going on.
He is such a great professor. He cares deeply about students well being and success. This class in general is not an easy class but he makes it easier to understand. The test are hard and long but the resources he gives are extremely helpful. This class is homework heavy but it's bearable. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. TAKE HIM!!!
Best professor I have ever had. He enjoys teaching and truly makes learning fun. TAKE HIM!!!!!
Jedwa was amazing this semester. He made chemistry fun and always made sure that students grasped difficult concepts. Show up to class as attendance is 15% of your grade; he accepts 75% or above on the iClicker score as full credit. Tests are pretty difficult, that's only due to the fact that they are open note. Great professor and person overall.
AMAZING professor. His lectures are incredible and extremely helpful, and he provides TONS of in person reviews and times to talk to his students. He responds to emails very quickly and is always willing to help his students. The tests are online and open note but they are pretty difficult so keep up with ALEKS and studying. Lots of homework.
The absolute best professor ever!!! Chem 119 is definitely not an easy class but he taught the concepts in a way that students were able to grasp them a lot easier. Open note tests and a lot of homework, but the homework is easy if you pay attention to his lectures. I raved about him to all of my peers and told them to take him!
hes amazing!!!!
Gave a lot of extra credit, and was a great person. Tests were worth almost nothing! Please take him!
Edwards was genuinely one of the best professors I have had all year. The class was taught at a very reasonable pace and he always kept the learning of the students a priority.
Had Dr. Edwards his first semester here, and he gave amazing lectures. Homework was quite often but not too difficult, especially if you paid attention. He teaches using lots of analogies and drawings. Homework and exams were all online, take home, and open-note (may change later on). Participation was taken with iClicker.
Jedwa is the reason I succeeded in CHEM 120. His lectures are amazing and very helpful. There are many extra credit opportunities, as well as resources to excel. Before every exam, Josh would make clear what content would be covered, and what needed to be studied. Great professor!!!
Chemistry is my weakest subject and I genuinely understand with Jedwa teaching. He offers so much extra credit as well as all sorts of homework to help you practice.
Dr. Edwards was amazing! He taught extremely well and made it clear how to be successful in his class. I really learned to content and I would highly recommend!
I am horrible at chemistry, like really horrible. Never passed an exam even in 119. However, Jedwa provides so much extra credit and assignments that make it to where exams don't weigh as much. He's funny, too. His exams aren't difficult, I'm just bad at chemistry. Skill issue.
I have taken him for CHEM 119 and 120 and I loved him. He is very understanding when it comes to exams and thinks exams should not be the reason you fail a class. I received the grade I did because I did all the homework, quizzes and extra credit. His attendance is mandatory through I-Clicker, and that helped my grade as well. I wish he taught A&P!
He's really good just like CHEM 119. Although I got a B on CHEM 120, this wasn't his fault, it was due to my lack of skills and change in the learning environment, which ALEKS were not used in the Midterms. If you're a CHEM Genius, take him!
nicest guy ever, really cares about having ppl pass the class and understand the material. a ton of OPTIONAL resources & grade boosters (30 max extra credit, 4 exams + final total exams= 37.5% of overall course grade, hw + quizzes + participation= 37.5%, 5 exam pts bonuses from projects, tons of practice problems, records all lectures + reviews)
Jedwa is the best chem prof in the department. His lectures make chem fun and easy. If you feel like chem is confusing, he explains chem in a way that just makes sense. I bombed the first exam, there was a lot of opportunity for extra credit but the only downside was that I feel like there was so much assignments, including extra credit.
If ur deciding between him or McCartney for 120, TAKE HIM! About HALF of the students in his class is getting an A. The grading, TONS of extra credit, and work is designed for you to get an A as EASILY as possible. He posts Zoom reviews IDENTICAL to exam questions and actually cares & understands his students. Sad I won't have him again.
Dr. Edwards is probably the best general chemistry professor. He cares about whether you understand the material over any grade you earn, and he offers A TON of extra credit which alone can bring your grade up to an A. Exams are similar to the immense amounts of practice he provides. If you are choosing a Chem 120 prof, TAKE HIM!
Dr. Edwards was an amazing prof. I struggle with chemistry and have never been good at it, but he helped me learn. Although I had some understanding, I was still lost on my own accord. But Dr. Edwards way of grading helped me to not fall behind when I would test badly. If you struggle with chemistry I HIGHLY recommend taking him. He is awesome.
Amazing professor who cares about students. I would rearrange my whole schedule just so I could fit his class in. Best chem professor at TAMU. Gives tons of extra credit and makes obtaining an A very easy. Has great review sessions before exams.
Genuinely wouldn't have passed this class if not for Jedwa (his nickname). I didn't understand much in his lectures because of my own issues. However, when I went to his tutorials I understood almost everything I asked about. A great Chem Prof.
This man is an angel. He lectures so well, considering how hard this subject gets. He knows what hes doing and it really helps. If you're god awful at chem, you'll still be fine because he gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. You'll 100% get so lost but hes good on getting you on track. you just have to put in SO MUCH WORK.
Best professor for 119 and 120. He is super caring about his students and very passionate about Chemistry. He's pretty lenient with grading and offers extra credit. He has a good sense of humor and makes lectures entertaining.
This is probably the best professor at A&M. He took a difficult class and made it not only easy, but interesting too. He is an extremely efficient lecturer and grader. I took it as a summer course, and it was hard, but without such a good professor I definately would have failed the class because of how awful lab was. Take him, you won't regret it!
THE GOAT chem prof, took 120 over summer & still got an A. Def takes effort its a dense class, but has favorable grade breakdown & assignments force you to do the effort part lol. Funny too so lecture doesnt drag. Set up notes for us to use and study hours (drop by Q&A time) out of his own time. Absolute angel, in Jedwa we trust
AMAZING prof. Cannot recommend enough. He explains everything so well and is funny. There are so many small assignments that help prepare you for the tests and balance out your overall grade.
fun class. love it
Amazing prof overall!!! you can tell he really cares about his students.
THIS IS THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER. I suck at chemistry and he helped me so so much. Extremely accessible outside of class and truly cares about his students. GET HIM YOU WILL LOVE IT
I LOVEE JEDWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
He is the love of my life! I do not know where I would be without him. He saved me.
Hands down the best Chem Professor. The class is still hard and there are things due daily. Sometimes his love for a topic can overcomplicate whats being asked of you. But even if you are awful at chemistry you can swing a B pretty easily due to daily assignments and lab work. In parts of the class you only need 80% to get 100%. Procrastination= no
Jedwa is truly the best instructor I have ever had. He not only cares about his students, but you can see how much time and dedication he has toward teaching and it is really inspiring. I have not only learned and enjoyed chemistry, but I have found a new desire for learning and I can credit that all to Dr. Edwards!
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! Great lectures and such a kind and caring professor. 10000% would recommend.
Dr. Edwards is a really great professor! I have struggled in the class, but he is super understanding and willing to help. I am taking him again for 120, so I would recommend him to anyone!
If all of Jedwa's 5/5 ratings don't compel you to take him then I don't know what will. Professor Edwards is not only an amazing professor, but also an amazing person. He truly cares about the subject and his students. Chemistry is not an easy class, but Professor Edwards helps everyone understand and learn the context quickly and effectively.
He's the best chemistry professor I've ever had. Would take his class 100x over again. His lectures and lecture notes are very clear, he has 3 short practice assignments every week, and 2-4 ALEKS homework. As long as you do your assignments on time and attend the lecture (lecture has iClicker points for attendance) this class is a breeze!
If you have to take basic chemistry, take Jedwa. He has a lot of homework, but his lectures are really good, and he gives out so much practice for the exams as well as extra credit.
Jedwa is awesome, great teacher and explains things well. Best gen chem prof by far. Spends SO much time outside of class helping so go to study hrs. Participation grade, lots of hw, weekly quizzes, labs are boring, but you'll learn the content. He prepares you well for his exams. I'm taking him again next sem for 120!
There is a lot of daily assignments, but they help you learn the concepts and combat bad test scores, but make sure to manage your time and do them on time. He has great lectures, has so much stuff to review before exams, and gives lots of surveys/extra credit opps. take him!!
I absolutelyy love Jedwa, he is the best prof there is. Chemistry is like my second language because of him. He cares greatly about his students and wants everyone to understand the material, he has a funny sense of humor. Very accessible outside of class at his office hours and can even book appointments with. Best person ever!!!!
There was a lot of work, make sure to have a system to do it all. There are Daily Problem Assignments due every class day, homework on ALEKS, Quizzes due every Monday, 3 exams, and one cumulative final. I found that all the work made me learn and if you got ahead on the homework or DPAs then the lecture were easier. I love Josh! Take him!
Jedwa is by far the best professor ever! He truly cares about his students and even if they don't learn anything in chemistry, he makes sure they learn how to learn! He gives out so many opportunities to succeed in his class and he made me find the my spark for chemistry again. If you are able to take him, please do! You will not regret him!
Literally the best professor. I fought to get him again for 120 and can't wait. He met with me outside of his office hours when I needed a little extra help and made sure I understood everything. He explains things so well and his whole curriculum is set up so that we learn things in an order that make sense. Gives you SO MUCH prep for exams.
There was a lot of homework on Aleks but it was manageable. Jedwa is the best professor I have ever had! He is super nice and offers extra credit and wants his students to succeed. If you do the work and extra credit, you will be just fine and are set up for an A.
Prof. Edwards is the best teacher I have ever had. He has the best grading system and gives great practice assignments. He will always make time to meet with you and answer questions. If you didn't take AP chem in high school the class will be challenging, but if your truly try to learn the practices you will be fine. The reviews are like the exam.
Jedwa is the best.
Edwards is amazing and makes chemistry enjoyable. Still a time consuming class but he makes it much more easy to understand and has an awesome grading scale!!!
Professor Edwards is an amazing professor. He explains things clearly and makes things easy to understand. There is a lot of homework, however he does allow wiggle room and extra credit. I highly recommend going to study hours and asking questions.
BEST PROFESSOR!! Lectures are captivating and he is really great at explaining all of the concepts. I recommend going to office hours every time they are offered, just to do the homework or dpa's in the environment helps and you get to know classmates and can ask any questions that come up. Use dpas for test prep!
There was a decent amount of homework and a quiz every week but I was always very prepared for the exams. He gives old exams and the test questions are straight from the DPA's. Study hours are so so good and he is there to answer any questions. He is just a nice guy and wants everyone to succeed. Highly recommend!!!!
Dr Edwards is the BEST professor ever! He is so hilarious and makes chemistry very exciting! I had him for both CHEM 119 and CHEM 120. He is very kind and cares about his students. Although, homework can get very tedious in this class but he makes it manageable and fun!
BEST PROF EVER! Jedwa is so kind and teaches chemistry so well. I would rearrange my schedule to have him as my prof, especially if chemistry is not your best subject. There is homework nearly everyday, but it is worth the effort. Follow his notes and put in the effort and you will do well.
MY favorite professor! As a freshman, I was so nervous to start college classes, but I am so thankful to have had Jedwa. He cares about his students and wants his classes as a whole to succeed. Chemistry was difficult for me, but his teaching style helped me thrive in class and get an A!
The goat. He is amazing at lectures, and reinforces concepts well. Extremely nice and accessible through email and office hours, and wants everyone to succeed. Take him.
Chem 120 is hard, but Jedwa breaks everything down in the lecture. He assigns a lot of homework, but it's sooo helpful when it comes to understanding and studying. This man will help you succeed in chemistry; you just have to put in the work.
I would literally rearrange my entire schedule to get Edwards. If you put in the work, you will get an A in his class. Made chemistry super easy to understand, fantastic lecturer. TAKE HIM
Like everyone else says, Professor Edwards is a great professor and you should absolutely take him if you can. The only 'downfall' I have is the amount of class work. There's something to do every single night but his grading policy is very lenient and the work gets you prepared for exams. Just be ready to take it seriously and not blow it off.
he's genuinely a nice person and good prof and you will not regret taking his class. if you put in the work you will succeed. plus he makes it easy to get an A with the way he grades
Jedwa is probably the best CHEM 120 prof out there. There is a LOT of homework for this class, especially the lab portion, but if you do it all then the exams shouldn't be too hard. I recommend doing all of the practice exams he gives, as well as the Zoom reviews before each exam. CHEM 120 was much, much harder than CHEM 119, so beware of that.
Jedwa was the best professor I have ever had! His lectures were detailed a provided a lot of examples similar to test questions. He also provided online, fill in the blank notes pages that were extremely helpful and kept me engaged during his lectures. He's overall a chill, fun prof who genuinely cares about his students.
Jedwa is the best! His lectures are amazing, and he provides so many resources to help you both understand content and prepare for exams. He goes a little more in depth than other professors, but explains everything very well. There's a lot of homework, but it prepares you for exam questions + there's leniency for missed assignments.
Jedwa is THE BEST chem prof!! You must take him! He explains things very well. He is calm and understanding and wants his students to succeed. Be warned that he does have A LOT of homework but it is worth to have him as your professor.
He's known to be the best prof but things are changing. He's making his exams way harder than previous semesters and atp other professors have higher exam averages. His extra credit is only 3 points out of 1000 total and he doesn't really want to curve much if at all. He's a decent teacher and always willing to help but exams are crazy at the end.
LOVEEE JEDWA!! I had him for 119 first semester and absolutely loved him!! I rearranged my entire schedule so that I could get him again for 120. If you can take him as a professor 100% do it you will be able to get a good grade no matter what! I will say you have to be willing to put in effort into learning but it is worth it!
Best chemistry professor, I took him for both 119 and 120. Easily accessible, provides notes, and always available to help. Very friendly, and his lectures make sense. He does iClickers for grades so attendance is "mandatory". He really helps make my freshman year easier, and his tests are not too hard either. Just study, it is a college class.
He made chemistry interesting. Truly cares about your understanding of the content. Do the assignments intentionally and don't move on from a DPA without understanding each question entirely! He is accessible outside class to answer questions. Go to the study hours. They really helped me finish all assignments regularly and keep up with the class.
Professor Edwards is a great prof and his lectures are really helpful! However, don't take him unless you can put in a lot of time and effort. There is a ton of homework and DPAs (he does give grace for some of these points though). Also, exam 3 and the final exam difficulty somehow exponentially increases from the first two exams, so be warned!
Dude is amazing. Highly recommend!!!
DON'T TAKE IF YOU DON'T HAVE A TOUCH SCREEN LAPTOP/IPAD. I had to print out the notes every day for class. Everything he does is on an iPad so it is easiest to follow along on one as well. First 2 exams had practice tests that were identical. Exam 3 and the Final had practice tests but nothing too similar. Lot of work but it is easy and he is lax.
Jedwa is the GOAT. Just prepare for more homework than your friends in other classes and slightly harder tests. But if you do the homework and put the effort getting an A is no trouble. He curved the last midterm and the final by 10 points and classes are very engaging. I highly recommend if you want a deep understanding of chemistry and easy A.
Jedwa is seriously so awesome. He is very funny, very engaging, and his students love him. He puts 110% into teaching his class. There is a lot of homework, and the last two exams (midterm 3 and the final) were very difficult so be prepared to study. However, he curves more than the other professors from what I heard. Take him if you can!
I took AP Chem in HS (5 on exam) and only took Jedwa for 120. I still had to put in a good amount of effort. Some questions were a derivation/extrapolation style and required you to have a conceptual understanding. The exams were challenging and the homework load was often overwhelming. Do the practice exams but be prepared for different questions.
Incredible lecturer & answers qs well. Above average HW levels & Take-home online quizzes & iClicker ALL w/ grace points. DO ALL the DPAs as they're representative of his exams(are fairly straightforward except for extrapolation qs). The exams get harder w/ each one. Curves only if needed. Ez ONLY if you do the work. Little extra credit. TAKE HIM!
Pretty decent proff. I am really bad at chem but edwards made it bearable. I would take him again. If you are able to take him for 119, do that and take120 with him too. I had a different proof for 119 so I had to teach myself all of edwards ways coming into 120.
Dr. Edwards is a great prof, but he makes CHEM 120 unbearable. The sheer amount of work he gives is outrageous, normally around 6-8 assignments per week. Getting an A in his class is easy because of all the practice assignments, but if you're already comfortable with chem, it's a waste of time, and taking another prof would save a lot of effort.
Jedwa is the best professor at A&M. The class is really well structured and he allows for plenty of mistakes. Lots of practice homework and quizzes, and test can be very difficult compared to others but he will prepare u well for them. Final can replace lowest test score as well. He always has office hours and responds really well to emails.
Jedwa is the greatest CHEM 119 & 120 professor here... he is very chill and will help you whoever you ask. Sure there are a lot of quizzes, ALEKS homework, and DPA's, they all help you with the midterm exams which pretty much match his practice exams. The lab portion was a bit screwy, but the class itself is manageable if you put effort into it.
Great professor. Daily homework that helps you keep up with the material. Tests are fair, and practice tests are provided.
This was my second time taking Professor Edwards; I had him as my CHEM 119 professor last semester. This year I was struggling a little bit more with understanding concepts so I met with him outside of class and he was very helpful. He is really good and making things digestable and easy to understand.
Dr. Edwards is an AMAZING professor. I had him for 119 and 120, and did great in both! Just pay attention and take notes during lectures, do the assignments on time, and make sure to use the canvas assignments and practice for the exams if you want to do well. By far one of the best!
Work is insane. He will give you up to 6-8 hws a week. Exams extremely hard. Terrible TA, lab can ruin you. Lectures are eh. I knew others q dropped use to be more helpful for exam not anymore. He makes the hardest context. Only If you have time/ energy. Take another prof plz. Got a B in Honors 119.Worst class ever taken. Actively overwhelms you.
He was extremely good at explaining complex concepts and his lectures are super easy to follow. attendance is mandatory and there's iclicker but he also records the lectures so you can do it from home. he gives plenty of study material to prepare for exams which are all multiple choice. He is super available and really cares about his students
Jedwa was a great lecturer, they were always fun and straight to the point. But, taking him compared to any other professor you will have significantly more work and harder tests. The lab TA's seemed to be much stricter compared to 119, which negatively impacted my grade. If you're not ready to devote all your time to the class, take someone else.
Jedwa is amazing! Lectures are fun, easy to follow and I appreciated the notes. It's clear that Edwards cares about his students. Not an easy class, but no one should expect that. iClicker make a HUGE difference, so attend class. I loved the grading criteria - he is forgiving and clearly knows we get worn out at the end. Hard class, great prof.
Dr. Edwards was a great professor! I took him for 119 and 120. He was very helpful and gave tons of material to study. I would recommend him for both courses, but 120 was decently harder.
Chem is hard no matter what but he made it bearable and able to understand. I would take him again. Great prof and accessible outside of class. Take advantage of his example exams, they help.
I had Jedwa for 119 and he was AMAZING! However, for 120 I think you're better off taking anyone else. His exams were outrageously difficult in comparison to previous professors and was a bit different from in class work. For 119, take him!
Edwards is a good teacher, for people who came into college with a strong background in chemistry. The work load in his class is A LOT, like a lot I was not expecting it coming is as a freshman. Take him if you have a good background in chemistry.
Jedwa was amazing! Chem 119 has a huge workload associated with it, but Dr. Edwards is always caring and very eager to help any student. I ended up dropping due to changing my major, but I enjoyed his class and would recommend him over any other chem prof at TAMU.
He is a young professor, so in some cases he is "chill." All of his class notes were more suited for iPad note takers. Would have Zoom for each class time, so if you weren't able to make it you could still be counted present with iClicker. Lab TA could really make or break your lab grade. Chem is hard, so just make sure to not fall behind on work.
He is very funny during lecture and which makes learning less boring. Also the way he lectures is very easy to understand
Whether or not you like this class depends on your priorities. If you're pre-med/pre-vet and have to take additional chem classes, I would highly recommend him, as he prepares you for 120 and ochem. If you're taking this as a gen ed with no future science classes, I would suggest someone else :(
Had him for 119 and 120 and would definitely recommend. His class is structured so that you can maximize points!
Great chem prof. Gave lots of extra credit and cushions for grading. Also had weekly lockdown-quizzes & online homework but you get used to it. Tests weren't bad and he holds zooms/recordings for every lecture. Would highly recommend a ipad for notes cause he gives an outline for each lecture. Labs can kill your grade so just stay on top of it.
Jedwa is the best! I'm good at math, so I found 119 to be easy. Very fair grading criteria and an amazing lecturer!
if you took AP chem in high school, i think his class would be easy, but it seems like he thinks u already know what hes teaching. there are so many assignments and lockdown quizzes due on friday night. tests were hard. i would not recommend if you know chem is hard for you.
It's a college level chemistry class. You're going to have to work. Idk why that's a surprise to some people. Jedwa is great! Tons of practice material to prepare you for exams. You literally just have to show up and do the work and you will probably get at least a B. He's also really funny and entertaining in class. Go to student study hours!
What a goat. Best professor of my freshman year. PLEASE take Jedwa for chemistry 119. Class was pretty easy and I really understood the concepts well. Lots of extra credit that help for the tests and he is very passionate about chemistry. AWESOME
Edwards is awesome!! made me actually want to go to class, and his lectures were very easy to follow. he also zoom recorded every lecture and there's a ton of extra credit and bonus opportunites!
Amazing professor! He is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable, and explains complicated concepts very well. Gives a lot of extra credit, which you should take the time to do because the extra credit questions look very similar to exam questions. The class is an easy A if you put in the work.
Edwards is amazing! His lectures are really good, and he explains the material very well. His lectures are really interesting, and I really enjoyed his class. You can tell he really wants his students to succeed. He gives a lot of work, but it reflects that day's lecture and is great exam prep. Take advantage of all the extra materials he provides.
I literally love him!! He is a great lecturer, and you can tell how much he loves to teach. He can explain difficult topics well and there is plenty of extra credit throughout the semester. He is also available outside of class time and responds to emails very quickly! He is amazing and just a silly guy.
SUCH an amazing teacher, I definitely would have failed chem with anyone other than him. Somehow he makes very difficult concepts super easy to understand and I rarely had to study for exams outside of just doing all the homework and extra credit offered because those helped me fully understand the concepts. Take him!!
Amazing professor! He explains the material really well and makes it easy to understand. I highly recommend taking him for Chem 119 if you are able to.
Jedwa was an amazing prof for this course. He gave in-depth lectures, and was accessible through groupme all the time. I will say he went into more depth than other professors and his tests were more difficult than the other CHEM 119 professors' tests. His note sets give you everything you need to know!
I would HIGHLY recommend taking Jedwa for Chem 119. He explains concepts so clearly and obviously cares about his students' success. There is a lot of homework, but half of it is bonus assignments. Each homework assignment is geared towards the next exam, so they never feel pointless or stupid. Take Jedwa!
Jedwa is an AMAZING professor. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed in this class. CHEM 119 is a difficult course, and it was tough. That's because of the course content. He creates his own easy-to-understand note sets of information from the textbook—so many opportunities for outside help and lots of extra points.
the chem goat
He has so much extra practice to the point where if you do bad on exams, it's probably not his fault. However, midterm 2 was more difficult than the others but overall take him over any other chem prof.
Lectures were super informative and I felt as though I learned more in this class than any other class I've taken this semester! Your grade here is definitely determined by the amount of effort you're willing to put in
Jedwa is incredible! He's a hilarious guy, really cares about his students, gives great lectures. A lot of weekly homework but it's the exact same concepts you'll see on the exams, so they're not hard if you do all the assignments. He also provides a lot of extra credit and often hosts study hours. Overall he just wants you to succeed, take him!
Jedwa is an amazing professor; he gives you every opportunity to succeed. He hosts student study hours every week, and, during finals, hosts even more. He also makes chemistry genuinely fun and gives you lots of opportunities to practice (and each opportunity to practice comes with little to no penalty for mistakes).
great teacher, lots of homework and extra credit
Best professor ever! Jedwa made chemistry so exciting for everyone, and if you do the DPAs and homework, you'll do well on the exams. There's a lot of extra credit given throughout the course, like 2% bonus on the final, 2% overall bonus for doing DPAs, etc. He is super active on GroupMe and responds to messages very quickly in a helpful manner.
I LOVE HIM!! It's a hard class yet he understands and wants to share his love of chemistry with his students. Would host study hours and respond to messages no matter the time. He truly loves teaching and is passionate about chem. The rubric is set up to reward hard work; you can get a percentage wrong in each category without it taking off points.
made chem fun, hard material but great guy!
Great prof!! Im not a chem person so it was pretty hard for me, but with tutoring a got an A. Slides are very clear and helpful!
Jedwa is an incredible professor who truly cares about his students. If you can take his class, do. There are no surprises on the exams, and they follow the lectures very closely. The workload in this class is pretty reasonable, and the grading is incredibly fair. Plenty of extra credit, with leeway on attendance, homework, and exams.
Jedwa was a great professor. Always took the time to help students understand the concepts. Lots of tutoring sessions where you can talk to him one on one to discuss about homework or previous exams. He also drops your lowest test grade with your final.
Jedwa is the best prof I've ever had. Incredibly caring and makes sure you understand all concepts. Lots of extra credit opportunities and tons of practice/review material for exams. Lectures are engaging and fun. I 100% recommend his class! Attendance isn't mandatory but is very important for understanding the topics. Don't skip any lectures!
Jedwa is literally the best!!! I'm preparing for mcat and I'm starting to see some of those concepts come back to me.
Makes chemistry seem easy and gives tons of review for the exams that really help. He posts all of his lectures online but also gives extra credit though iclicker so you still need to go
Jedwa is so incredibly brilliant that sometimes I think it's hard to grasp the concept he is trying to teach. Overall pretty good professor. The pros: Super nice, smart, provides lots of extra credit or options to drop scores if you do better in the future, responds to emails, approachable. The cons: VERY hard tests.
Chemistry is hard, but Edwards makes it easy. Edwards was so great that I barely had to put in effort to study, which is very unusual for me. His exams were fairly easy and were based off of work done in class or on homework. I never had to go to the Chem Learning Lab for this class because Edwards was all I needed. Take him if you can!!
Jedwa is a very nice guy, but his class was extremely difficult. I went to every class and office hours, and still had to drop. The way he explained things did not make sense to me, and the amount of work is very hard to manage. If you're going to take this class be ready to dedicate your life to it.
I took him because I thought he would be a great professor due to his ratings. WRONG! Although he's a chill dude he doesn't know how to teach, and he didn't prepare us well for exams. I've heard he's changed his methods so he might've been better in the past, but not now. Grades are extremely confusing, please focus on lab can really make or break
He's awesome lowkey made me like chemistry.
I was really nervous about taking chem after high school and now I actually like chem. His class is hard but he explains really well. Take him if you can!!
Amazing prof, take him if you can! Made complex ideas seem understandable and enjoyable. Weekly ALEKS assignments, which are time consuming but easy grade boost. Attendance not mandatory, but there is iclicker for credit. Has super helpful practice exams and lots of study hours, especially before exams. Exams weren't bad, and he prepares you well!
I LOVED chem with Dr. Edwards! I am not a STEM person, but I thoroughly enjoyed Jedwa's lectures. He had a great sense of humor and seriously made me excited to learn. He is also a caring person and very accessible out of class. Go to class and study some, and you should be out with an A.
Great prof, was very nervous to take chem but he made it very easy to understand the content and was readily available to answer any questions or explain ideas in a way that may be easier for you to understand. You have your homeworks every week to keep up with which are easy 100s if you stay on top of them. Hardest part of the class is lab
He was amazing, he was truly the first Chemistry Professor that actually made sense to me. His lectures are interesting and he even adds some good humor to it as well. Chemistry is hard but he makes it a little less hard. I recommend taking him! I am taking him for Chem 120 next semester!
He was a great guy, gave us a groupme that any of us could directly ask him questions and he would answer literally any question you have about the material. Very helpful, gave a lot of extra credit, and he wanted to help you. His lectures were wordy so I zoned out every lecture and taught myself and I still ended the class with a 93.
The best prof at tamu, i genuinely learned the material and felt prepared for exams. I wish more profs were like him- you can tell her cares about teaching students and being a resource in class. Please take him if you can.
Jedwa is great. The class is hard, but as a professor, he is not. He does everything he can to help students in Chem 120. He is very caring and is happy to meet outside of class to work with you. If you can, take him! Chem 120 is hard no matter who you take, but Jedwa really cares about helping his students if you reach out for help.
Amazing prof, I only passed chem because of him. He answers emails, he does anything he can to help his students, and he's a good lecturer in general. He's not boring and he goes slower if necessary. He gives weekly ALEKS, extra credit opportunities, but doesn't curve in my experience
119 is a difficult class, but he does everything he can to make the material as beginner-friendly as possible. His lectures are funny and engaging. Exams are all multiple-choice, but only about 20 questions.
I took his class over the summer, CHEM 107. I really liked how he taught, he was very caring abt his students, and he was very passionate abt the things he was teaching. Whenever I went to his office hours, he would take his time and explain a concept with me until I understood it. He definitely is the professor you want to teach you. Bonus points!
I took Edwards for 119 and 120 and I could not recommend him enough. The class does have a lot of material as well as a lot of homework assignments on top of the lab component. It is overwhelming at first but honestly it gives you so many practice problems so when you get to the exam, you don't really have to study aside from the practice exam.
Jedwa is seriously the best! He's there to help students succeed and gives extra credit and practice exams that are very similar to what you should expect on exams. If you're taking credit for 119 and hoping into 120, he is definitely the best option! His lectures and notes are super clear and helpful. It's clear he cares about his students.
Prof Edwards has great, engaging lectures that really emphasize the understanding of conceptual ideas. The homework is long and tough, but the exams are not too difficult if you did all the homework and studied. Lab is awful, TAs are harsher graders and will bring your grade down for anything.
Highly recommend taking him for CHEM 120! Although the material is tough, he does an amazing job of ensuring his students have a clear understanding of the content. He records and posts all lectures. Has 1-2 weekly online homework assignments and in-person multiple-choice exams. He is by far one of the best professors I have ever had.
Jedwa is seriously the BEST PROFESSOR i've had at tamu. Content is difficult, but Jedwa made his lectures easy to follow and set up his units in an order than made sense. His exams are not too bad if you review his practice EPA and exams he posts. Lab is horrendous be prepared for it to bring your grade down.
The professor made the class not as hard like a level 3 but the class was a level 4 in my opinion mostly because I hate the math we do. Jedwa is obviously a great professor and I really like his method of explaining difficult concepts. Also the practice tests are pretty indicative of what concepts to study
Dr. Edwards teaches very well and it's clear that he's really trying to pass you. The course itself is hard but he tries his best to make it easy and is often available and patient when answering questions. If you put in the work the course will be fine, lot of hw but its participation. The lab is awful though, watch the post lab reviews.
Got 100s on 4/5 tests with minimal studying. Lectures and notes given are fantastic and so helpful, make sure to learn from homework!
Ive had Jedwa for CHEM 119 as well, its very safe to say he is THE BEST chem professor at TAMU, coming from a Biochemistry major. Put in the effort and you will understand his teachings, lectures are recorded in case you miss anything or need to revisit a topic. Student study hours=SUPER helpful. CHEM 120 is hard but Jedwa makes it better :)
Altough I got a C, he is a great proffessor. He did extra credit, made practice exams VERY simulair to exams which helps a ton. He does notes on docs, which is different but he still is a great proff, and would take again
Jedwa is genuinely the best prof I've had at a&m. Lectures were engaging and easy to follow, making this relatively difficult class feel easy. The exams are very similar to the practice material, so make sure to understand that. The final exam was just a remix of the 3 midterms. I studied for less than an hour and got an A
Chem 120 is a very hard class, be ready to STUDY. Lots of homework! I failed every single midterm, but i locked in for the final and thats why i got a B in the course. Edwards also gives you opportunities to get extra credit. Looking back i should have ACED the first exam,(super easy if u studied) and passed all the others. Great Professor!
