This class is a waste of time, you could teach yourself everything covered. He doesn't know how to teach either, he's still a student himself(and likes to tell you that!) This is the worst GEP class!

Horrible professor. Easy class - but make sure Pegasus webmail attaches your files... he wouldn't accept mine and didn't tell me it didn't attach until after the deadline. Takes forever to e-mail you back on questions. Take someone else to pass.
Easy class if you do everything EXACTLY correct. Anything done wrong leads to deduction of points. I think he favors some students. He's a very young professor/student & you can tell. This class should be required for computer illiterate students.
woah dude..this young teacher is hott with two t's...he explains things really well and gives big curves in the class...awesome teacher

I hated this class!!! He SUCKS!
He is a pretty good teacher
Very easy teacher, easy grading. Very helpful and answered my questions through email quickly. Take him for an easy A.
He's a good teacher, nice guy. Make sure you follow all instructions very carefully because he wont bend the rules at all.
Very knowledgeable about subject matter.

Easy A!! Make sure you go to class and do all assignments and projects. Easy grader! Sweetest guy. Class always gets out early.
I hated this class. It's easy if you are a girl but otherwise good luck. The class has a bunch of busy work and it isn't worth the time. This class doesn't make ssnse and you can't understand him at all.
Never around to help students, obviously plays favorites, and the class is a bunch of busy work.
this boy is the hottest thing alive. he has well earned his nickname of professor hot buns.... hes really cute. and this class is super easy... take him if you can!
hey man, i cant even follow along on the computer when the other TA's ask us to open files or something...but this prof made it very easy, is cute, and speaks ENGLISH!
I took it online and he was the "Lab Instructor". Extremely tough grader, not very helpful. Always says "send me the original assignment and I'll see what I can do." Then still gives 0's. Projects are pretty tough. stupid class to have

take it with someone else. This guy doesn't know what he is talking about.
The worst teacher I've ever had, don't take him unless you are really good with computers, otherwise do not expect a lot of help from him. You are on your own!He is too busy with himself and how great he is.I don't think he is mature enough to be a teacher
Josh is the best person I've ever met in my life. Go Josh!!
He's my lab grader for cgs 2100 online. He always misses assignments that you submit and then claims you didn't submit them, or some other dumb reason not to get credit for it. This class should be REALLY easy, but because of stuff like this, it's not.
The web class is the best. I never had any problems with grading or my assignments being lost. You need to follow instructions exactly and LOOK AT THE GRADING RUBRIC for each assignment, points can be taken off for really stupid stuff so double check ur work. Otherwise, extremely easy.
awesome teacher! take if you can!
Very easy class if you have any computer knowledge. If not, you might struggle.
awesome teacher! really knows his stuff, and tries to make a boring subject interesting!
Very good professor. Understands that the class is boring and most people don't care about the material. Offers a lot of extra credit and curves the tests. I recommend him over the other CGS teachers. He's the only one you can understand when he talks.
All of the notes are given in powerpoint form on the website, you don't technically ever have to go to the class. He does give out bonus points for those who attend, however. The lab is mandatory. Tests are easy if you look over the work and know at least a bit about computers to start with.
Younger, funny computer nerd. All notes in powerpoint, gives extra credit for coming to class and skips slides that won't be on the test. Also gives study guides for the tests and answers emails in a timely manner. Recommended teacher!
ehh. Assignments are ridiculously specific and anal. MS Office skill tests are a joke, super easy. exams are kind of hard and everyone does poorly so they get curved up alot. i got a B and didnt do half the assignments only because they were too meticulous. funny little computer nerd who loves UCF athletics though...weird.
Really nice guy. Gives a lot of extra credit to those who attend the lectures. Knows the material is boring so he tries to make it interesting by taking out all of the stuff we don't need to know for the test. Test are difficult, so attend class. Probably the best CGS instructor offered, so take him!
Pretty simple class. He just reads the slides and skips the ones that won't be needed for the test. Gives extra credit for your final grade for just attending class. The question usually is about the UCF football team and who their next opponent is. You still have to review a little bit for the tests.
Gives a lot of extra credit!
Great guy! Gives alot of extra credit and a review/study guide before every test. Wants everyone to do thier best. Take him for this class.
go to lectures to get easy bonus points, you dont have to pay attention in class, just do the review sheets in depth and study those for the tests.
Nice guy. Easy class. I don't know anything about computers and I got an easy A. Go to lecture for extra credit points and you'll be glad you did at the end of the semester b/c he adds up to 4 points to your final grade!
The actual lecture is a waste of time because you can get the notes on the website. He bribes you to go by giving you an extra credit point added on at the end just for showing up. You learn everything in the lab for the assignments online, but for the tests you really have to study. They're very hard. I got a B.
GREAT TEACHER! RECOMENDED!
he tells u exactly what to study in the lectures and he gives bonus points for going to class. he's kinda funny to listen to. definitely go to the review classes, he gives good study gude questions. i enjoyed his class.
Didn't bother going to classes but he's completely unfair as far as the other classes. He is one of two teachers and the other teacher's tests are easier, the kids can take them at home and he posts their review sheets online. Take Hensel if you get the chance. Not a bad guy, just a bad teacher.
The material is boring but that isn't his fault, he does his best to make it interesting. Posts his notes online but it's worth going to class because he tells you which pages are relevant to the test and which are fluff, plus he gives away extra credit points like hotcakes. Test reviews are excellent, study them and you'll get an A. Good prof
Not his fault that it isn't interesting. he tries. Test reviews are great, read the book and do the reviews and get an A. The lab is boring. But you have to go to the lab (not the lecture). Lazar gives out tons of extra credit IF you go to class. Take him for this class. Pretty easy.
Josh is a very sweet man who does his best with a horrendously boring subject. He offers a ton of extra credit and excellent test reviews IF you go to class. The class is terrible, but it's one of the computer courses required for all students, so if you're going to end up taking it, take Josh, go to class and get an easy A.
Lazar is an awesome teacher. He always lets you out early. His study guides are incredibly helpful for the already fairly easy tests. He includes relevant topics in his lectures, and unlike the other cgs2100 teacher, you can actually understand what he is saying.
Very easy, but very boring class. If you go to class there is a lot of extra credit towards your final grade. Tests are very easy MC and he gives a review which is very helpful especially since I never went to class after the first text. I did not buy the book, but you do need it for the lab.
The lectures were very boring and I found them pointless except for the extra credit. This was not his fault though, it's the way the course was formatted. I think he tried to make it interesting but there's not much you can do in a computer class. Just make sure you go for the extra credit and reviews, they tell you exactly what's on the test.
Class not worth going to. Professor is boring the notes online are all you need. Won't let you fix simple mistakes that that can really hurt your grade when doing assignments (other professors let you fix them.) Tests are harder than other classes, sign up for a different professor if you can
Prof Lazar does his best to make the material interesting even though he knows most of his students don't really care. If you go to the lecture you don't need the book as long as you take notes. He gives extra credit for those who go to the lecture. Just study the day before the test and you'll get an A.
the lectures are boring, but he tries his best to make it interesting. attendance is not mandatory although he does gives extra credits and answers to some questions on the test in class. highly recommend.
Was very useless if you asked for help with something, teach yourself from the online material and complete the boring and pointless assignments. A boring professor with a boring class... (better than maths though!)
Prof. Lazar was an awesome teacher; he knows his stuff. He tries to make the class more interesting and laugh with his geeky jokes. The tests are pretty difficult, but if you read the book and listen to his opinions of the material, you should be ok.
Tests are not difficult, though he did encourage "googling" of the answers if needed. His lectures are interesting, but not necessary to go to for a passing grade. Very knowledgeable and helpful if you have questions. It should be noted, however that the class setup is completely automatic, and he grades nothing, so don't expect too much.
He knows how to teach the course, but this course could have been a middle school class. Could easily get an A without ever attending class. Assignments took about an hour total over the entire semester. All 3 tests (online) were either 100% common sense or could be answered by googling the question. Take this with him for the free grade.
Very nice guy and very informative with the subject he was teaching. I think he's a big of a dork, but that's what makes the class bearable to go to. Good guy and good professor. Waaay to easy though. But I won't complain
Hes a good teacher. The tests however are based off lectures and material in the book he didnt go over. Tests are online and you can use your book, notes, and internet. Recommend. it is a fairly easy class
Definitely knows his subject. Easy online class, I would suggest him.
Forgot to take one of the tests and still ended up with an A. Classes are easy but I didn't go because, well, I didn't want to. Check over those damn LAB assignments and utilize resources when taking online tests and you'll be fine. Too bad you have to pay out the @$$ for the book though, you'll never touched it.
Took this class online, thinking it would be an easy A. Had to buy more than $200 worth of material for the course and was still completely lost when trying to complete the assignments. Since you don't have a lecture, you are forced to guess your way through them.
Josh is an overall pretty cool guy. He tries his best to make computer science pretty interesting. If you buy the book you should do fine as all the exams are online and they are open book.
Professor was completely useless when asked for help, although my TA was AWESOME with feedback. I took CIS3360 online Spring 2013, and I got an easy A. Easily had over a 100%. Easiest class for CS majors, take it online. Assignments and Exams easy.
This class is the definition of an Easy A. Attending the lectures is helpful, but not mandatory. If you keep up with the online assignment, you don't even need to attend lab. Prof. Lazar seems very nice and is clearly passionate, but his subject is dull and had the class half-asleep most of the time. Textbook is useless, just buy the access code.
He is a great professor. He usually talks about his job a lot and also shows a lot interest in the material. The online site where you will be doing all of your work is what matters. He will go over powerpoint slides that will help you on the tests.
Very easy online class
Alright-- I'm going to give it to you guys straight. This is practically an online course, no point in going to lecture or lab. As a student who commutes everyday, this was vital information that I wish I had before classes began. I finished the whole course in 2 months, around late October/early November; I was very ahead, and ended with an 97.
You don't need to go to lab or lectures, although the labs are helpful. The lectures are interesting so if you want to learn, I suggest going. He is a great professor. Very personable and relatable. He talked about very relevant topics. Just buy the access code online. You could finish the course in a month if you wanted to.
UCF charging students to take this class is a crime. Professor seems fine, showed up on day 1 and realized 2 minutes in that I didn't need to be there and never went again. 3 tests and 3 assignments - literally about powerpoint, word, and excel.
Lousy teacher who couldn't care less about his students - just shows up to get a check. Totally unreachable and unwilling to answer questions or help in any way. Should choose a different profession.
This class is easy. I showed up the first day of lecture and never went again. Buy the cengage access code, go to the first few labs to learn how to use the SAM program, and then you're set. You could complete the entire course in a month if you really wanted to. All it is is learning basic computer knowledge & how to use Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Records his lectures even though he's just reading off the slides. Grade is decided by 2-3 programs and 3 tests. Tests are difficult and lengthy, many students run short on time. Really interesting subject matter but during his lectures it's very easy to get confused and very hard to get back to understanding.
The only thing he does for the class is record himself reading off a powerpoint. Takes a while for him to reply to an email. If he does reply to an email, he will tell you to ask a TA instead of answering the question you had. Makes you type out math work in a text box in a short timed test.
Just posts power points. Started doing videos but then stopped at the 3rd chapter. Poorly structured class.
Pretty easy class. Started video PowerPoints then stopped and disappeared for a while. Just focus on PowerPoints. Very late on grading projects. Dont bother asking for a letter of recommendation if you have a good grade.
We had another professor when the semester started, she had to drop the class for some reason and he took over. The class wasn't hard at all. Had about 4 maybe 5 assignments online, nothing google couldn't guide with. Assignments were easy, test were easy. Passed with an 94% A.
I took this class online and it's okay.. 3 exams, 4 assignments ( +1 optional bonus assignment), and a book report. Grades take FOREVERRRRR to be inputted, lecture videos are not very in depth, but the class material is not hard. The TA we had was very helpful. The professor is v strict with cheating so don't do it lol.
Overall he was a solid professor. A couple of assignments , a book report, and 3 tests. Also has an opportunity for extra credit. Very straightforward and clear instructions on everything, including the grading criteria. Would take again
Reads off powerpoints slides that basically come straight from the book. Grading is slow and the course has very few assignments. The assignments are a little tedious and tend to deviate from the lecture material, can find all the info online. There is a book report, actually kind of interesting. Tests are not hard. Take it for an easy A.
This class involved reading through a book to write a book report and referencing a textbook for better understanding of class material. Not a hard class - spent a few hours each four weeks to study for the exam (not including working on assignments) and was able to get an A. Make sure you understand the concepts and math. Waited on grades.
Death by Power Point is the professors teaching style. You are graded on very few things and if you're 0.000001% away from a grade (literally) then he will refuse to round up the grade. The textbook is not very intuitive and some concepts are explained via math equations instead of plain English. The practice exam is useless. Don't take this guy.
He's a meh professor, its an online class so don't expect much interaction. If you need that then find a different professor. Tests are easy and straightforward. If you need help on the homework reference the books. Otherwise, just do the work and coast on by. You do not need to watch his lectures they are just a reiteration of the power points.
Security in Computing only had 5 assignments where 1 is a book report. 2 Exams then a Final exam. Just read the PowerPoints instead of watching the videos. The TA provided useful practice exams to help us out. Grades take forever but the course is very easy and doesn't require too much effort. DO NOT CHEAT! You'll be given 0's if you try to Chegg.
Easy class recived 98... don't waste your time on watching his video, just read the PowerPoint and find usefull videos online. We had a great TA, who was very helpful. Professor never answer your email. Get the second recommended book, it has clear math problems then main book. ###DON'T CHEAT ON THE CLASS OR WRITE ANSWER FROM CHEGG###
This class is online, so don't expect much interaction with anyone besides one helpful TA. All he does is read off useless PP and expects you to memorize everything before a test. Tests are messed up because they want you to do 7 things for one problem in one hour. Grades take 4ever due to them, what I believe, trying to check if u used chegg.
Before the semester even started, I had a different teacher and still to this day, I don't know what happened to her. Didn't ask to have this guy, but apparently UCF thinks he can teach. All he does is read the powerpoints, which are basically everything from the book. The main book he uses, confused me. 5 assign, 1 book report, 2 tests, & final
Not a good Professor. Does not give feedback with the exception of one TA being interactive in the course. If you can somehow bypass this class, do that. Can be an easy A but the lack of feedback makes it far more difficult than it needs to be. Also, the format for the tests leaves you finishing right before time limit is up
DO not take this professor, no matter how much of an easy A it can be. The grading criteria is a joke, he states that the assignments are worth 20% of your grade, but then changed it to 5% in the middle of the semester. The only thing that seems to be worth getting a high grade on, are the tests.
Teacher is a joke, he doesn't teach all he does is read of powerpoints from material that comes from the book. The TAs are also a joke except for the one who sends out practice exams to help you, the others will cause you to lose points because they rush to get grading done due to them waiting at the last minute. 4 assign, i boring book report.
Terrible, if you see him for teaching just skip him or the class until another teacher is available. If reading off a PowerPoint is considered "teaching" then Pokemon are real, all his "PowerPoint" are from a book that is so useless, the second one is much better. Tests are ridiculous, tedious, and long within the time limit given. Skip this man!
Pretty standard online class. 2 Tests and a Final, 4 Assignments, and a Book Report. Also 3% extra credit opportunity. The book report is 20% of your grade, so it's a nice cushion. Tests are a bit harder than you'd expect, assignments aren't that bad. He does videos of him reading his PPTS but just looking them over yourself is fine.
Not a bad choice, definitely not as bad as everyone says. Skip the videos he literally just reads the powerpoints. I found most of the assignments to be really unclear but still not terrible difficult. The tests were hard and i felt like the material covered didn't prepare me enough for them but to each their own.
I took the online course for intro to C in the fall, and to be honest I didn't find the course very valuable. The closest to teaching the class came was poorly written PowerPoints that barely went over the programming concepts coherently. Most assignments are pretty basic, although they're generic and recycled material from possibly another source.
This course can be very awesome and important, if the teacher was right. Him and his TAs are very annoying, no one wants to be bothered by you except for two. I know it is online, but at least put some effort into it like we students have too. Assignments were copy and paste except for the book report. Take another teacher if you can.
Took him in the Spring Semester for Intro to C. As an online class, I didn't know what to expect, and I know I will never make this mistake again. Powerpoints are very lackluster, assignments are copy and paste. Nothing he provides prepares you for the exams, and as an intro level course, it definitely does not treat you like you're new.
Lazar has another job, and he makes it obvious. The office hours, grading, and feedback are done by TAs and all he did were poorly explained ppts and examples that barely helped. There's a Slack server for the class, but he's only active in channels dedicated to his non-teaching job and isn't on campus much. Very difficult for inexperienced coders.
Taking this class online was pretty much what you'd expect from an online programming course, you basically teach yourself. If you have prior programming experience you'll probably do well in this class, if you're just starting to code then I recommend learning in a lecture/classroom first.
Though the course is online, Lazar doesn't teach at all. He posts exams and brief unrelated powerpoints. This was an intro course, though only CS majors who have been coding for a while would have definitive success. Percentage based. 3 exams, tried to give final during thanksgiving break. 12 hw's and 8 projects, last 4 projects worth more points.
I wish this app had a 0 star rating. Powerpoints are devoid of any useful or relevant information, absent or useless when asking for help, heavily relies on TAs while making their jobs more difficult and stressful. Overall, he makes an intro level course ridiculously harder than it needs to be. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. You have been warned!
Very easy class we had a few assignments and tests throughout the year and you can really just do them the day they're due. The professor was also really understanding about the whole corona situation this semester and accommodated students who weren't able to take one of the exams.
AWFUL. I took this class online before the pandemic. All the assignments were online except for the tests. He posted no videos or lectures online. Only material that the professor had was minimal power points which didn't help at all. I bought the recommended textbook but I find it a bit hard to teach myself especially when I've never coded before.
This class is focused around a group project with weekly assignments and some tests, but the group project is the biggest weight. The professor didn't really add much to the experience and as long you fully utilize the textbook you will do well on the non group project assignments. A lot of work for a 4000 level class.
Professor Lazar is by far the worst professor I have ever taken at my time at UCF. Class was good and it was interesting, but he just didn't teach. I wouldn't recommend taking this teacher because he is poor with communication towards his students throughout the semester. Exams are completely different versus the reviews we get. Don't take.
I read an entire 400 page book he required and put unnecessary extra work into my report. However, I had internet issues and my submission didn't want to go through until the last minute, but he had closed it. I sent many nice emails trying to explain myself, but regardless he gave me a 0 (docked 10% off my final grade). I was lucky to scrape an A
He required textbooks that weren't used. Instead, he send some links to teach ourselves the C programming language. He didn't teach/instruct a single word relating to the course. He keeps his TA's in the dark about exams so they aren't helpful. The entire course is a graded YouTube playlist.
Very bad professor overall. He is not a difficult professor, but be ready to be frustrated by not getting grades back for 1-2 months. In the words of Dr. Lazar, "Please be guided accordingly."
He is the worst. Even though he said at the beginning that he is going to look around see who did bad on the test and help them improve, I got a 0 and he didn't even bother emailing me. I tried reaching up to him to improve and he responds with a bald language "just read the book". Also, everything in his class is prerecorded from years ago. AWFUL.
I had a book report that I was trying to submit but due to the file type difference (which he did not specify) it didn't go through. I literally emailed him the report 1 minute after the due date and tried to explain to him the issue but he did not accept it and I lost 10% of my grade.
This class is not very cash money. Unironically using Honorlock in a computer security class.
Uses Honorlock in a security class, honestly deserving of the 1.0 on its own. Beyond that, made us do a book report on a 400 page book, half of which involved the characters day to day life and hardly any coding concepts that will be useful for us. We did not do 1 single coding project the entire semester. Memorization tests, not knowledge.
This is a pre recorded class, you will see at most 2 grades posted by the time the withdrawal date comes around. You will hear almost nothing from the professor, all the tests will be HONORLOCKED, and the material will be relatively inapplicable. If you ever wanted an example of a class that just "checks the box" to call itself a class this is it
While these assignments were not too difficult, grading them took forever, We only got our first couple grades about half way through the semester. The lectures are not that useful as he just reads off of the slides, which are also out of date. This class could've been run by highschoolers and I wouldn't feel a difference
This professor does not care if you learn in his class. He uses lecture videos (which suck too) from 2017 in a 2020 class, and it is hard to get a hold of him via email. His TAs are some of the most lazy TAs I have had to deal with. Our assignments did not get graded until the day before the withdrawal deadline. I learned more from youtube.
Tomorrow is the final exam and only 4 grades have been put in out of 10. Nothing was graded until around exam 2 (withdraw deadline). It's a security class and the dude makes us use honorlock which makes him a joke of a professor. He made everyone buy and read some old book that has little to no relevant information. Take someone else instead.
I currently have an A but thats just because I spent days studying on my own. His lecture videos only read off the powerpoint, youre better off reading the book and using the powerpoints as study aids. Like the other responses say, his TAs grade really SLOW.
Honestly, people are being super harsh with these reviews. Professor Lazar is actually a decent teacher, he posts all of his lectures (just him lecturing over the PowerPoints like every professor) which is nice you just need to get yourself to watch them and pay attention. The one glaring issue is the lack of communication by the professor and TA's
very unaccessible, just dropped several pre-recorded lectures in our lap on the first day and said "watch this by the test" very hard to get ahold of sometimes taking several days to respond (both the teacher and the TA). didn't feel like he actually cared about teaching me.
I would avoid this professor because everyone on here is spot on about him. He uses Honorlock (look it up and check the reviews) and TAs take forever to grade. Doesn't care about his students and doesn't care if you fail. Seriously, I had a submitting error on my assignment, and give me an F for it. Also takes forever to respond to emails.
Dude takes forever to grade things. Missed due date on some projects, and he wouldnt give any form of credit even though i had a family emergency. Went from an A to an F, he does not care if you pass or not.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He was absent the whole semester and relied too heavily on the TA's to teach. He never taught us anything and he used other people's material to teach the class. The ppt.'s did not do anything and the textbook barely helped. This class wastes your time and money.
In terms of bad classes, this has to be one of the worst. The professor has completely removed himself from the class and only uses pre recorded videos from years ago. Slides offer no insight into the class. Despite being an interesting topic and having cool material, this class has left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Received all grades like a month and a half after the assignment was due, just had us watching videos and reading slides literally written in comic sans to learn the material, made us use honorlock in a cyber security class lol
Did not receive a single grade until the middle of the term. Because it was taking so long to grade, I never knew how I was performing in the class. The class was exclusively prerecorded videos. No Zoom meetings, which is what I signed up for. It was also a 12-week class instead of a 16-week class (fall 2020). Very hard to reach.
He is the worst professor at UCF without a doubt. 12 HWs, 8 Projects, 3 exams. Exams contain coding in a text box, with no compiler, and it's either all right or all wrong. "Course Material" is a playlist from 2012 on Win 7, useless. Useless notes, doesn't respond to emails, useless TAs, crazy hard projects. Worst intro class of all time, don't....
Lazar doesn't explain anything with the work for the case studies that you do each week so you basically have to just make information up with your assigned group. He barely answers emails and takes FOREVER to grade work. One week left of class and he hasn't graded anything since February (it's the end of April). The class isn't hard just annoying
Professor probably created the lecture videos a few years ago and is completely hands-off in teaching. Doesn't respond to messages, doesn't grade until the final day. Assignments are all group assignments and overall pretty easy except for the sometimes-unclear criteria. Don't take this class seriously - the professor clearly doesn't.
The course is fairly easy with a very hands-off approach. Due weekly is a chapter quiz, chapter assignment, and either a project deliverable (done in groups) or exam. Exams and quizzes are all based on his lectures and/or the textbook.
Lazylazylazy. SUPER late to grade assignments. Does not teach, only provides lectures slides + years-old lecture videos reading off those slides. The incredible lack of effort put into the course made me feel like I shouldn't put any effort into assignments. Group project assignments build on top of each other yet not graded til weeks/months later.
Only 4 presentations and 1 final paper--- overall easy course. And he gives great life advice for after your degree
You never actually meet the professor at all. No one actually goes to class, I was literally the only person who showed up. I have two TAs that do the projects for you out of Bordem. Easy class but a lot of work, make sure not to push it off and actually lock in and get it done.
Just do work on time and its an easy A.
Assignments are tedious but not hard, just make sure you keep up with the week-by-week structure if you don't want to be doing hours of work every day for a week straight to meet the deadline. Professor lets you do it at your own pace which makes it easy to procrastinate (everyone did).
This class has a lot of information and content which can take a bit of time to complete. Overall, the class itself is super helpful and if you already have a good grasp of Office360 then you will be fine. Content is not too difficult just takes time. Don't really expect to talk to the professor as he makes you go through his TAs first.
Okay class for the most part, the worst part about it was the McGrawHill concept assignments. There are SO MANY at points it kills you. but overall okay DO NOT THINK you can 'catch up', just do everything on a week by week basis stay on top of it, it makes things easier
online class was self paced but an outline was given weekly, and that is really all the professor does for this course. everything is graded by the programs. assignments are easy however tedious. overall, very doable despite below mediocre professor, don't procrastinate and take this course online if required and possible.
Professor Lazar is a really chill professor and he makes sure you stay on task week by week. His course is self-paced and you have till the end of the semester to complete it. All assignments and exams are on McGraw Hill and are super simple and easy to pass but they are a bit time consuming. I was able to easily pass this class with other classes.
Lazar's CGS2100C is doable if you stay on top of the weekly work. Procrastinating is easy with the flexible pace, but Unstuck AI and the free textbook make studying a breeze. Overall, a solid online class for an easy A.
It's really easy to get a good grade in this course but the software used makes it really hard to learn. The professor also makes it very hard to communicate with him, which wasn't an issue for me, but felt weird since its an online class.
never had to email the prof, but overall class wasnt too terrible. there is a ton of assignments and its not easy to actually learn the material. but professor seemed okay! all assignments where due at the end of the semester so alot of procrastinating will prob happen with this class.
Really not that bad as some reviews say, I never had to email the prof. However, yes the assignments are very long (took me about 2-3 hours each) and it is easy to procrastinate. Just get your assignments done, and it's an easy A. I recommend renting a Dell laptop from the library for the Excel stuff because all the instructions are in HP format.
Never had to email prof, but it's true all the assignments do take 2-3 hours each. That being said, there's like 48 assignments so don't procrastinate. I recommend renting a Dell laptop from the library if you have a Mac for Excel and stuff because the instructions for each are in that format, not the Mac version.
Not a terrible class, everything is basically self-paced and assessed with everything due at the end of the semester. Don't procrastinate but even though I did, I still ended with a high B but could've gotten an A if I had given myself more time, but that's on me. The class itself isn't hard, if you give yourself enough time it's a pretty easy A.
This class was a lot of work. The book assignments are soooo long and the rest are fine. The Microsoft products assignments are fine, kind of interesting actually, but everything else sucks.
Tedious course, but not hard. Impossible to reach the professor though, so good luck if you have any questions.
Good class, could get an A in a week if you know what to do. My advice? Focus on the book tests worth 75 points, only do all 3 of them instead of every book chapter and get all simnet assignments done and you will get an A not needing to do the book chapters at all, thats if you do well on the tests which isnt' hard to do. Got A no bookwork
Follow the syllabus, everything you need to know is on there. It is a simple class with a lot of work, but getting an A is very manageable, simply passing is even easier. Just make sure to pace yourself well and do not wait until the last minute to do everything
I feel like this professor has great concepts but bad execution. He is a 2 solely because he has some qualms about him and a decent amount of good about his work. Qualms are time-consuming, buggy websites, and expects us to spend 12 hours a week on this class. Goods are that you can complete the assignments whenever before the end of the spring
Not hardest, but busiest classes I've taken so far. The pacing honestly is great. Every assignment is due at the end of the semester and you can go at any pace you want if you don't follow the week by week. But man, every week takes about four hours to finish. Skip the reading assignments, they're worth squat. And good luck getting any help.
The class is not crazy difficult, but it's set up weird. If you're a person who can set deadlines then this class will be fine, about 5 or so hours of homework a week, do not procrastinate, I had to retake this class bc I put off the assignments, everything is due the same day at the end of the semester and they take a while and are crazy tedious
This professor didn't teach at all—just assigned a ton of homework and expected it all to be done by one deadline. There was no guidance or explanation, making the class feel unstructured and overwhelming. If you're looking for actual instruction rather than just busy work, avoid this class.
This was an interesting course. I will say, Professor Lazar organized the course extremely well, and there are some genuinely useful things you will learn. However, the assignments are ridiculously tedious and boring. Everything is due on the same date, so as long as you pace yourself and don't procrastinate, you'll be fine. Easy course overall.
This class was overall very easy. It's just that the coursework is long and boring, you will have to spend hours just to finish an assignment or a quiz. The course is entirely online and in order to get a good grade you should not procrastinate because it's not possible to finish this class in a week.
Professor Lazar was great. You only see him at the beginning and end of the course, however all the work is super simple and is at your own pace. Finish it up in the first weeks (You can probably sit down and finish it in a week) and you won't have to worry about it. Looks scary at first but was super easy.
Overall fairly easy class - the textbook assignments are super tedious and not worth many points, but the class is a breeze as long as you DO NOT procrastinate. Seriously. Most of the assignments can be done within the first month of class.
I was angry I had to pay to take this course. He teaches ABSOLUTELY nothing, every single assignment is auto graded. The "show me guide me let me try" SimNet textbook things were the most infuriating things ever. The work itself is easy but absolutely grueling especially if you wait to start until near the end of the semester.
Super easy class, just a ton of work. Don't wait for the last minute I could have easily passed with a 100 if I hadn't procrastinated it for so long.
Honestly, I never spe
Listen to everyone else. Do not procrastinate.
This class is easy if u DONT PROCRASTINATE .Book chap are on quizlet, js listen to music bc theyre abt 50 min. If ur on Mac, start simnet early(i used chatgpt for help) bc it can be tricky, windows computer might work better if u have access. prof is so sweet and answers emails quick. give yourself at least 1.5 months of constant wrk for no stress
Literally finished this class in 5 weeks. Assignments can be time consuming, and the program is outdated which makes it difficult to do some projects. Just put the time in and it's fine. Everything is posted from day 1 so you have a clear idea of how much work you have left. If you don't do it in time, that's on you
Find the textbook online and use it as a study guide. His quizzes reference the end of textbook chapter quizzes and have a lot of useful information. I didn't find the videos he provided super helpful. The group projects aren't hard and there's around 9 for a spring/fall semester. Other than that, 3 exams all 50q and a ton of discussion posts.
I hope that you dont run into any issues regarding assignments or exams. He will not email you back and will be very difficult to work with. Very easy class, mid instruction, terrible communication.
For a professor that literally doesn't create, teach, or grade a single assignment- just relies on McGraw Hill and a Simulation program where even your projects are graded by AI, he got very annoyed if you ever tried reaching out to him directly instead of a TA. Clearly has no desire to teach, and gave off “I live in my mom's basement” energy.
The course is a lot of participation and it's frustrating sometimes because the course is outdated so it's hard to find all the right buttons, especially on a mac, but other than that it's a chill class. It is self-paced but there is a guide if you want to follow that. Overall fine class but nothing to right home about.
SUPER tedious class but the actual work is pretty easy. It's all based around Microsoft Office, so if you're on Mac, it might get a little confusing for the independent projects, since the buttons aren't always the same and some of the things aren't included. I just downloaded the microsoft apps for mac and it wasn't too bad. Don't procrastinate.
If ur on mac, use chatgpt for help on the projects cus the instructions that are given in the assignment are not helpful at all. The prof literally doesn't make any of the work, its just bunch of mcgraw hill stuff. Finished the class in a couple weeks but don't procrastinate cus the work is really tedious and itll add up.
Super easy class and guidelines are clear of what to do if you have a basic understanding of word/powerpoint/etc. Everything for the course is due on one single day, so don't procrastinate doing it all until the last day - if you are do it is curtains for you
Listen to everyone else and don't procrastinate. I decided to do all of the work 2 weeks before the due date and passed with an A, but I also spent 5 hours a day for those 2 weeks. Luckily the course content is organized by week and easy to navigate through. I never spoke to the professor once but he sent out email reminders before the due date.
While it isn't his fault since it is just a very boring but required class, this class is not very engaging. However, it was not difficult at all. I also recommend to not procrastinate. I did exactly what was required to get the bare minimum A. Not a bad teacher, just a bad class.
