WONDERFUL PROFESSOR!!!
This professor is genuinely invested in the future of his students.
very nice teacher i love history now and this class made me consider history as a major.
Josh is the man, easy going and very helpful.really!lol.just attend the class, submit your assignments, participate and you are guaranteed a good grade.
keeps you interested in class, very helpful and understanding
Josh is awesome he will help you when you need it awesome teacher I recomend him to anyone.
Best prfessor ever! really fun and he makes class interesting. I would take any class he teaches.there is reading to do in the book and he also gives outside readings. participate,do well on the homework assignments and quizzes and you will get a good grade
He's really nice and caring. He's trying to be nice a little bit too hard, I think some students might want to take advantage of him because of that. Please stay the same way, you make us feel like coming to college. To students: take this professor, do your assignments, you'll be fine. Very easy and fun.
He's a great teacher ! He makes me want to come to class. He's very helpful , and very understanding. There should be no reason as to why you should fail this class ! Do your assignments and quizzes and you will be fine ! He keeps class interesting as well. Select him as your teacher ! He's awesome to talk too
he is the best! he really makes me think and makes the class exciting and fun! he causes me to have mind explosions! hahaha!
He is genuinely interested in helping his students pass. he is a very understanding teacher but you shouldn't take that for granted. great humor, makes class fun. easy going as well. just do the assignments AND STUDY THE ANSWERS HE GIVES YOU FOR THE EXAM you will pass
One of the best professors I've ever had. He shows a huge interest in his students as individuals and has you think about ideas in a really abstract and unique way. I would definitely take another class taught by him and recommend him for anyone wanting to take a history course.
Mr. Ackerman is the best professor ever. I was so happy I took his class and I will probably be taking it again next semester. EVERYONE GO TAKE HIS CLASS. He is helpful , very nice and he really goes out of his way to let you know he understands the struggles of being a student. I really cant say enough :)
There's not enough room on here to explain how great he is! You will be glad you took it for the sake of thinking critically and having an awesome teacher! I NEVER dreaded going to class. He really got you thinking. My friend and I would sometimes spend 20 mins after class talking more about what was discussed in class. I will miss this it all!
This guy is awesome you'll never ever find a teacher like him that's a guarantee. He wants you to pass he wants you succed in life. The things he tells you you can use in your everyday life. I'd take him for every class if I could. #Ackerman all day
He is the best professor I have ever taken and I believe the best I will ever have. He is not only a professor, but a life guide. I felt so comfortable in his class and he is a very lenient grader because he wants you to do good in the class. He will help you in any way possible.
I had him the spring semester of 2012 and he was quite amazing. The reviews paint his beautiful soul in a magnificent light. So please take him, heed his words because he has been in our shoes before. He is patient and understanding and those two attributes are needed on the front line of raising America!
B E S T P R O F E S S O R E V E R. do yourself a favor and take his class. you wont regret it , I promise :)
Easily the greatest teacher I have ever had in high school or college. Whether you like history or not take his class and I promise you, you'll become a history buff.
Love him
Josh gets an A+ when it comes to teaching, the fact that he's so passionate about history reflects in his teaching. It's not a dread going to his class at all, he makes learning history interesting. Plus his odd sense of humor is refreshing, it's nice that he genuinely cares about his students.
Where the magic is lol
this teacher is the best teacher every he is the man of the year!!!! you cant go wrong with him.
He is the best!!!
I am currently taken Professor Ackerman's Western Civilization 1 course. I recommend him to everyone interested in History, because you will have a new enlightened point of view. Professor Ackerman has the ability to open anyone's eyes to see history in a different light; he is easy to learn from and is a great teacher.
Ackerman represents a dying breed of educators that truly value and know how to teach a holistic, liberal education. I have not taken his history course, which get only praise, but I am in History of Manliness which I demand anyone with the opportunity take. Ackerman values the questions that have long been lost in shallow industrial society.
Josh is a good professor. I hated history but he made it very interesting and fun to take I would recommend him to anyone
One word: Awesome. I vow to take every class he teaches while I'm here! You rock Mr. Ackerman!
I completely love this guy! He's amazing and he the best teacher a person could ask for. I haven't been this interested in History since highschool! You rock Mr. Ackerman!
Professor Ackerman is honestly the best teacher. He cares about individuals and really wants you to learn and have a good understanding of what he is teaching, unlike some professors who overload you with information you only keep for a semester. If you really want to learn and better yourself suggest you take his classes, you won't regret it.
Loved this class, even though I never spoke up I loved the open discussions. He was very interested in what we had to say or our take on the subject. Great guy, awesome way to learn! He needs to teach other Professors how to keep students interested and how to engage a student so they will want to do well in a class. Hope to have him next semester!
Over all good teacher, is always going to find a way to help his students succeed.
I took this as a 5 week summer class and wow, what a fantastic teacher. He cares about the success of his students and makes the material fun and engaging. Instead of regurgitating information for assignments you are encouraged to be creative and share your opinion. Take his class, CCBC is lucky to have him!
I love this guy ! He is an amazing teacher and I recommend him to everyone! He made me not want to take classes with anyone else, I wanted the same quality throughout. He is great at what he does and he loves his job.
Best Professor ever!!
Great professor! Fun, clear, and helpful; you will learn a lot in this class. It's not easy as you will have to work for your grade, but I promise you will WANT to work for it. Josh, as he likes to be called, is awesome!
Such a great class. Josh pushed us as a class and as individuals. Not and easy class, but you get out of it what you put in.
Professor is amazing. He is always there for you and would always talk to you whenever you need it. He is great and i would most defenetly take the class again. Defenetly worth taking.
He is very inspiring. I've never gotten so excited about the American Revolution before. He makes us think about what we want for ourselves and we want for the future of our country. Hes not just standing up there giving us facts and boring us he asks us how we feel about the facts. Where do we stand or what to stand for. My favorite class!
Josh was a teacher with an approach to teaching.
It's not that often that you come across a professor who both knows what they are talking about and is able to convey that knowledge to the class. Some students are quite capable of participating in the lectures in the discussion. Some are not , yet Ackerman still was able keep the faster learners engaged while teaching the slower learners.
Josh is a cool teacher. He works at a pace that lets us take our time and understand things. The funniest teacher you ever want to meet. He says its okay to be a nerd, I've excepted that about him because I'm a nerd too.
Josh is a really cool teacher. He teaches at a pace so that we can understand whats going on. He's the funniest guy you'll ever want to meet. He also says its cool to be a nerd and I accepted that about him because I'm a nerd too.
Very nice guy. Encouraged me to start talking to some tutors and have always had support by him.
Took Ackerman my first semester , He was so helpful in and outside of class. He understands what its like being a student. Sometimes the course work got heavy but he made it so interesting , I didn't mind ! He genuinely cares about each and every one of his students. Every professor should take lessons from him. #Ackermanallday
This dude is passionate about teaching, and it's evident throughout his class times that he doesn't want to just lecture, he wants to have a discussion, he loves hearing the students' opinions. Also, he has a million funny stories that seem to completely derail the conversation, but then he brings it back and somehow you understand it more. TAKEIT!
I loved this class, and I was so happy that I took it. I would definitely take it again if I had the chance. If you have to take History 111, PLEASE TAKE ACKERMAN , you seriously won't regret it.
Great professor.... and extremely easy on the eyes. He is able to keep you engaged in the material along with comprehending it. He is funny, caring, and passionate in history... and did I mention he is HOT!?????
Josh's class is laid-back and fun. He likes to have discussions and as a student you can tell he has passion for what he's teaching. The only paper we had to write was for our final but he gives weekly quizzes and these aren't hard because he teaches everything you need to know for them. He was one of the best teachers I've had at CCBC.
He has been one of the best teachers I've had. I was inspired during a previous semester to study in order to become a history teacher, and taking his class only helped to cement my passion for what I want to do. He provides a thorough understanding of history while also challenging his students to think about the why and the how.
He was my college advisor during the spring 2015 semester funny as hech
2papers & 4 quizzes + final, Must participate to get the most out of it. Actually listens to discussion and will include discussion stuff on quiz. Doesn't spoon feed, expects you to come to class knowing reading, think about what you'll hear in class & talk about it and find your own answers. Interesting lectures, student viewpt. is respected.
Really good class with a GREAT teacher!!
I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Ackerman's class. Mr. Ackerman made the class interesting. I would recommend his first and second class to anyone. I learned a lot about history that I did not learn in high school. Mr. Ackerman, was always available to answer any questions. I discussed what I learned with my grandchildren. He listens to his students.
favourite professor to date! he's funny so he makes the class very entertaining. gives one paper to write throughout the semester and basically tells us what is going to be on the quizzes. would choose him again!
He is a good professor but don't ever ask him to write you a college letter of recommendation. He will say okay and you'll never hear back from him again. Have a reliable teacher write your recommendation.
Josh is an amazing professor that will make you seriously consider History as your major, even though the job market is scary
He really cares about each student!! #ackerman
Josh is the best teacher ever. His classes are fun and he makes it interesting. He'll work with if you're going through difficulties but you have to communicate with him. You can talk to him about anything and he will listen. I learned some life long lessons from him. I'm about to run out of characters lol. He's just the best.
This was the easiest class I've taken at CCBC. Professor Ackerman was always very quick to respond if I had a question. He offered a nice amount of extra credit not that anyone should need it because this class is so easy! As long as you do the work you'll get an A!
History has always been my least fave subject, but I loved his class. He is one of the BEST professors I've had. He is really down to earth. He also will challenge you to bring out the best in you. But he really cares about his students! I would definitely recommend him to anyone and I would have taken him again if I had the chance to.
He's so down to earth. Very respectful! I never liked history but his class was the best. He isn't hard at all very cool and friendly. Doesn't assign a lot of work and actually understands you unlike some teachers. You're the best josh!
Ackerman is pretty damn cool. This dude loves his students more than air. He encourages us to think for ourselves, read more, be better people and teaches us history in a way that is completely unlike any history class I've taken before. Taking classes at a university? Pfft come see Ackerman on the side. You wont regret it.
Josh is my favorite Professor at CCBC, I can not say enough good things about him. His classes are always enjoyable and he genuinely cares about his students. I've taken every class that he's taught before, including History of Manliness which is a great course offered at CCBC unlike any other class. I would highly recommend him.
I've seen Ackerman around campus long before I've taken his class and he's always been such a friendly person, that I finally took his class. All my friends and I have taken him at least once and his class gives a great, more interesting look into History, one that other professors might not be able to give you. I would take his class again!
I've taken two history courses with Josh and he's hands down the best professor I've ever had. His passion for history is apparent in his teaching and he's super down-to-earth and funny. His classes are easy and fun, and it's basically impossible not to get an A from him.
Out of 20 classes at CCBC, Professor Ackerman is the only one that I've come across that truly cares about his students. He wants you to succeed and he is passionate about history. He is very understanding and will work with you to assure you succeed. Bonus: He's hot!
He's the teacher you choose if you DON'T like a long, boring lecture.
You know those professors that make you feel like you're only a number? A grade in their grade book? You get beaten down and feel like nothing you do matters? That is NOT Professor Ackerman. He will revolutionize the way you view not only history, but your education. He loves his students; he loves history; and you will love him!
I took ackerman my 1st yr at college & it was very comforting to know i had a professor like him to help guide me. My 3rd yr at college i took his history 112 class. I was going through some personal and family issues at the time. Ackerman was very understanding and helpful. He made sure I stayed focused not only in his class but also in my others!
Mr. Ackerman is my favorite professor. He can really relate to what his students are going through. He has been there before and he shares his experience with his students by letting us know that, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you can do it. He is proof that although a student may have difficulty, they can still succeed. THE BEST!!!
Mr. Ackerman has a way of making History 112 very interesting. Has a way of engaging his students to participate in class throughout the semester. Knows his subject and is very open to discussions. Very caring and at the same time wants his students to succeed. Students will learn a lot from this professor. Definitely take this class.
Mr. Ackerman is lowkey (highkey) the most legit teacher at CCBC. Fail that last assignment? watch a movie and that extra credit rolls in. Fail the final exam? He knows you were a good student (or not) in class, so you get at least a C. Also, he uses his St. Johns knowledge to help new writers learn more about essay writing than taught in ENGL 101.
Ackerman actually manages to keep the class' attention by being animated and involved with the lecture instead of regurgitating info from the text book. He's also understanding if you have to miss class or are having difficulty with an assignment, just communicate with him. Very knowledgeable in the subject. Great professor, great person.
Really great guy. He cares about each individual student, equally. He really has a hold on life. He doesn't always grade papers promptly though, whenever he says he will have your graded paper, add like two weeks. But overall he is very involved, funny, and you learn a lot. He really cares about his subject. Highly recommend!
Unbelievable teacher. Really cares about his students. He also gives out donuts some times. 10/10.
The only reason i made it out alive with 5 classes in one term. He's got passion for his lessons and has got your back when most teachers won't. Sign up right now, his classes will fill and then you'll be stuck with one of those lame, lecturish, unrelatable and robot professors.
Highly recommend him! If you're lucky there's still a spot left in his class. He is a GREAT professor. He really cares about his students. He has a way to engage you into the course and makes you learn a lot through his enjoyable lectures. He's one of the best teachers I've ever had. Oh yes... I almost forgot: He's hot! :)
When I signed up for his class, I had no idea how lucky I was to learn from an amazing professor and person. He deeply cares about every student, makes his "lectures" thought-provoking, and I walked out of his class more aware and vigilant about the world around me. I would come back to take any class taught by him just for fun. It's that wonderful
Mr. Ackerman was overall an amazing professor. His assignments were clear and he gives great notes for papers, quizzes, and life, etc. His class is challenging and fun, and if you're taking it seriously and you're a dedicated student you'll do well. He's very inspirational and enthusiastic. He's helpful and gives good feedback. Take his class(es)!
Awesome professor! Mr. Ackerman, or Jackerman as I like to call him, is my mans! He is truly one of the or is the nicest person I know because of the love of his profession and just his love for everybody. If you have History make sure to take it with him because you won't regret, if I were you I would make my schedule around him, I did. Ackerman16
Honestly Jackerman is one of the best professor ever! He has a passion for teaching and the way he breaks the lessons down its very easy to follow.
Josh was a very cool professor to have. He was very kind, helpful, and funny. I enjoyed his thematic, discussion based classes a lot. He really gave me a new way of thinking and I got a lot out of taking his class. All around great guy and would definitely take his class again if given the opportunity.
Best professor ever. Thought provoking, makes learning (especially history) fun! Great in class discussions thanks to the environment which he creates!
Took 112 Honors as my first honors class. Great class thanks to Josh! Awesome discussions with the smaller class size made for a great learning experience!
Ackerman's a good professor. He's funny, easy to talk to, and gives interesting lectures. His class forces you to critically think about American History. Though he changed his late/grading policy a bit this semester, it wasn't at all difficult to follow. Overall, I'd recommend this class to anyone wanting to take a history course.
Best professor I've had since attending college. I hate history but the way Josh teaches the subject I feel like I've been a history buff all my life, to the point where I registered for his 112 class as well. Never put you down if you dont understand and will help you until you are clear on all subjects. Makes learning easy and fun. Take his class
An engaging, caring, very smart guy. I took his 7 week class and it was a tease - not enough time to get into discussions, HW, etc was limited, the final was the US citizenship test - it was an easy non-class. I wanted more work and engagement but he was busy with life and full semester classes. Take his full semester class for sure.
Josh truly cares about his students, and all assignments are to make us better connect with history. He is there if you need him, and is flexible if you make sure to work with him. Josh's courses are incredible and serve make students better informed, better students, and better people.
Amazing professor. His class was more of a "teaching you how to think, with history" rather than "remember these dates." Very motivational guy, works with his students. Made me debate switching majors. Wants success out of everyone, and really tries to tap into your true potential. As for class, do the work, participate, you'll get at least a B.
Josh is a really cool, he makes the classes fun and tries to involve as many of the students in his class as he can. If you have any questions he is always up for listening and giving as much advice as he can. Should you have any problems with any assignment and providing you have good reason he is very understanding. Highly recommended his class!
Great teacher, not one boring class throughout the entire semester.
Great teacher, not one boring class throughout the entire semester. Easy to talk to.
One of the best professors that I've had. He makes sure that you understand everything that's being taught. He helps with all any assignments and does the best he can to ensure that everyone passes his class.
Great teacher. He genuinely cares about his students and how they do in his class. The lectures often turn into class discussions which can be nice but also means things don't always get accomplished quickly, which works for some but not others.
I would highly recommended this professor for any history course. I really enjoyed being in his class. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is really funny and you will learn a lot from him. All of the work and assignments are on blackboard and arent hard to do. There's a semester long paper broken down into 3 phases.
Great professor. Take him in anything you see his name on. You will be happy
Ackerman is absolutely the best teacher I have ever had! This was my first class with him and walking in I had no idea what to expect however I soon came to look forward to walking into his classroom. He is definitely one of those teachers you will remember for a long time. I would sign up for a class even if he was explaining why the sky is blue.
Josh was an awesome professor! History is my favorite subject, and he clearly loves it too. He wants his students to understand the concepts and themes more than anything. It's a class you'll always want to show up to.
Look up "chill" in the dictionary and this guy Ackerman is plastered all over it. A hybrid of your rugged dad and the playful kid during recess. He is understanding, patient, and always makes lectures thought provoking. Aside from his dad jokes, he gives history and politics a true personality. Great guy to be around, would take one thousand more.
Took history 111 online and this is not an interesting subject for me however prof. ackerman made this class easy to succeed in. Complete the assignments and you will pass with an A! Also if you are unhappy or confused about something he is very helpful and easy to confide in. TAKE HIM if you are taking history! I wish he taught other subjects.
Prof. A was a delight to have this Spring 18 semester. He took on our class because our original Prof could not make it. His lectures are full of passion for the subject he's teaching. He is good with explaining the book material and outside material. I enjoyed him as an individual and as my professor. It is my recommendation to take this class.
Awesome professor. Class was very simple but still informative. Definitely recommend his online class. Just make sure to complete all work and dont procrastinate.
He is a caring and flexible teacher, who actually cares about your success in class and outside of class. His lectures are extremely entertaining as it's more of a class discussion. The only difficult thing in the class is the long semester research in HIST 111 and 112. Great class and would take it again
take him for history. good professor, even the advisors recommend him. very caring and ready to help if you do the work and show up to class
Great and easy class. Not very time consuming at all. Easy grader and you know the due dates for everything from the get-go. Recommend the online class.
Lots of reading, quizzes, and papers.
This professor actually cares! If you let him know whats up he will DEFINITELY work with you. He wont do anything to harm your grade. Just try and you will do well
Ackerman is a true gem of a professor. He cares about his students as people inside and outside of the classroom and understands that life happens as long as you communicate and put forth the effort. He takes the time to allow everyone to participate, hear all viewpoints, and learn everyones names and interests. Would retake his class just 4 him.
Personable, very kind and will work with you if you need help. Lots of bad jokes. But he is very excited about the topics he gets to teach.
AMAZING TEACHER 5 STARS!!!! take this class!!
There are many quizzes , and test and assignments but if you read the chapter they are easy to complete!
As a high school student taking my first college class, this was a great first experience. I loved how clear the course was and how he made our couple in-class meetings about discussion over lecture. He cares about you and your grade and as long as you get done what you're supposed to, he is a great professor.
Professor Ackerman asks lots of interesting and contemplative questions that give a different outlook on just how riveting history can be. He is truly passionate about his work, and being in his class has positively changed my view on the subject. An amazing teacher; I would take this class again just for fun.
I'm taking a hybrid class with Professor Ackerman, and it is honestly one of the best classes I've ever taken. I'm not really one for history, but he really teaches it in a way that's easy to digest. He discusses what we learned with us and makes us think. There are meaningful connections made. Finally, he's very easy to get along with.
I am in his high school hybrid class and I can honestly say I've learned more in his class over the course of 5 weeks than I probably ever did in school over the course of 9 months. His assignments are fairly easy, he cares about his students, he makes you look at history in a different (but good) way, and is one of the best teachers I've ever had.
He is amazing! He truly cares about what he does and he cares about his students. I am so thankful that he was my professor this summer. He's probably the best out there. The class did have a lot of homework and reading involved, but given that it was about 5 weeks long, it was okay and very manageable.
Ackerman was a great teacher. Personally I was not a fan of history but he made his lectures fun and easy to pay attention to. The homework and quizzes were very easy since the textbook explained all the answers. As long as you read and take notes youll be able to pass the class with an easy A.
Professor Ackerman is one of the best professors that I have had. He is very laid back and his assignments are easy if you pay attention.
Professor Ackerman is very easy to verbally communicate with.
Your typical online class. All the material was uploaded ahead of time, which allowed a student to work at their own pace. Read the chapters in the online textbook, do the assignments and you'll make an A. Posted weekly messages towards the end of each week as a reminder. Cannot vouch for his responsiveness, as I never had to reach out.
Ackerman is a smart teacher who is also mindful of his students. During zoom classes, he answers questions and explains the work for you to understand. No matter what your problem is he will help you through it. Hes a fun teacher you can joke around with and count on for a good learning experience.
Professor Ackerman specializes in Greek and Roman history, so taking his HIST101 class was the most enjoyable class I took by him. But even out of specialization, he is able to effectively teach about any period of history and relate it to the 21st century.
A combo of a dad and a history professor, definitely expect to hear tons of dad jokes, but also very good in-class discussion. Super willing to work with students on due dates and workload. And super understanding of our current times.
I am not one that is extremely into history so in the beginning I was a little nervous for this class. As the semester went on I began looking forward to attend this class. Ackerman provides wonderful help throughout the attire semester with every assignment that he gives- never be afraid to ask!
My first History class with Mr. Ackerman and I have to say I am impressed by this professor. He is disciplined, helpful, and has a sense of humor. His class is nice to go to and should be able to achieve a decent grade in this class.
Ackerman is a very chill professor and as long as you show up and do the work you're golden. 10/10 would take again (if I was getting more credits that is).
I was wary to take this class online but Professor Ackerman made things easy to access and understand. Quizzes were open note and used the average of multiple attempts for grading. Course content had perfect layout and grading criteria was explained well. Extra materials if needed. Crash Course vids were fun and helpful. Best class ever, thank you!
I would recommend Prof. Ackerman to anyone; being in his class was a delight. He makes the material interesting and will go off-topic to talk about what's important to students. He is flexible and compassionate in solving problems with students. We had class on zoom and work on Blackboard and everything was well organized and communicated.
I had Professor Ackerman during the Fall 2020 semester. I chose his class based on rate my professor scorings and was not disappointed at all. He is very organized, caring and responsive. If you want to have a professor who enjoys teaching and has a passion for their course take Professor Ackerman! Definitely changed my outlook on U.S. History.
Fun man. Very lenient until the end of the quarter, but it's due to the fact that he would like you to see your grade before the end of the course. You can choose not to participate but you'd miss out on the fun experience of interacting with him. Read up as well, because up to 80-85% of the class is just convos between you and your classmates.
Mr Ackerman is an extremely kind teacher and cares about your work and your understanding of it. I had him for an online winter class with ALOT of work but he helped me out and I was able to complete all the work easily with his help! I would for sure take Mr Ackerman again!
Doesn't make class boring. He genuinely cares about you as a student and your grades. He is available every day for office hours and is so willing to help you understand concepts. !0/10 recommend.
THE BEST! Synchronous classes. Very interactive with students, not just lecture, bye. Genuinely cares about his students in regards to his class & general wellbeing. Clear course schedule & makes expectations known. Willing to work with you, just requires communication! Office hours almost everyday during the week. Certainly one of CCBCs best!
Completely dedicated to his students. Took him for 111 & 112. He was awesome. Genuinely cares about his students. Responds to course messages. Will work with you, he just asks that you communicate with him. Has office hours throughout the week. Assignments reflect lectures. Keeps lectures interesting. Synchronous classes. Exceptional professor.
Was funny, led great discussions, and very flexible with grading. Took a history class for credit in high school and loved it.
Ackerman's great. He makes plenty of jokes. Did the class for ECAP and enjoyed it. It's a bit of work but quite easy and he's very kind and forgiving. Lectures a lot, but also gave plenty of opportunities to voice your own opinions. Only a small extra credit opportunity was offered but the class was very straightforward. 10/10 would recommend.
I took his class over the summer, and It was a great time. I had wished we had more times to be able to meet because it was only 3-4 times, however I could feel his passion even if it was an online meeting. The class was not hard, just needed to space out the units for work, and there is a lot of time to do the units. Wish I had more classes.
Words can't express how much this professor means to me. I took both his 111 & 112 classes and his love for the subject and care for his students are unmatched. I was going thru some heavy stuff and Ackerman was supportive and encouraging. To be quite frank I was close to giving up on everything but his encouragement as a teacher kept me going.
Prof Ackerman is one of the best professors I've ever had. I am horrible at history and he was so understanding. I went to every one of his office hours and he helped me and never got frustrated. Really straightforward professor and I definitely recommend.
I took professor Ackerman last semester, he is great. His lectures are very helpful and he gives the class a lot of help on the work that needs to be done, he gives reviews for every quiz and exam. He makes class interesting, and is kind.
Amazing teacher, if you have him as an option, he's the best choice.
If you need to take History 111. Definitely take it with Professor Ackerman. His lesson and his history background were amazing. He would explain stuff that no other professor would have. He would work with you if you need anything. His classwork and tests were definitely easy.
Take the class you won't regret it.
There is so much to say, but all in all, take the class. He is an amazing teacher and makes learning so much fun and so interesting as well.
Professor Ackerman is someone who brightens and lifts everyone's mood while capturing their attention. I used to hate history, the lectures would be so dry and lengthy that I would fall straight asleep. However, Professor Ackerman made it so that I always looked forward to class, and he teaches more than just history.
Professor Ackerman is an amazing college professor. Take his class if you are willing to learn and grow in an academic environment.
Great professor, wants to see his students succeed.
It's rare to say that a teacher is amazing but when it comes to Ackerman, it's hard to think of anything else. I enjoyed sitting through lectures and his connections to history both modern and old are something else. The work itself (at least for the course I took) were not hard. Definitely a bit of reading though. You will not regret taking him.
Took him online Summer 2022, it was easy but educational. He gave amazing lectures.
Took this course during the 2023 winter semester. At first, I thought the course was going to be super hard because it's only a 4-week course but Ackerman made this course so easy. At first, the workload was hard but you can do it. Professor Ackerman graded stuff quickly and he was available to assist if needed.
Awesome class must take his lectures make history come alive. Made US history fun to learn. Very understanding as long as students show effort and willingness to work hard. Absolutely love his class.
What a person! Great professor and engaging lectures. He makes it very easy to understand but thought-provoking. You will have a wonderful time with him and I cannot recommend someone more than him. Make sure to read the textbook and pay attention and you will have a blast!
Professor Ackerman is one of those professors that you need to have when in college, not only is he very passionate about what he teaches, but he helps student's have that same passion. Discussions are encouraged and over zoom, many participated. He gives great feedback for work and most importantly, he teaches life lessons and gives great advice.
Professor Ackerman's course was the best history course that I took. The online criteria was very layed out and straight forward as to what should be completed. There is opporunties for extra credit which is clearly stated in each weeks lesson. The only feedback I have when emailed regarding questions the response time was longer than most.
Ackerman teaches in a conversation style of teaching which is extremely insightful and refreshing to see. This class has set a standard that I'm not sure other classes will be able to meet, I hope that more educators will employ this conversation-based teaching approach with their students.
Probably the best professor at CCBC, you can tell he is passionate about the subjects he teaches, and he is always willing to help students out and ensure you understand the material. Facilitates great discussion, all around great class experience
I got an A but he awesome
Professor Ackerman brings history to life with engaging lectures. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of the readings. Using unstuck ai and the free textbook really helped me prep for this class. Definitely take it!
Just look at the rating numbers lol. Take him.
Im taking his class in high school to get ahead on credits and I'm so happy to have him as my first college professor! His class is so chill and his feedback REALLY helped me thrive in his class. Unless you don't try, there's no way you can fail his class!
Really chill teacher, super clear instructions for every assignment with clear writing goals to hone in. Great and helpful feedback, I started to think it might be AI or maybe he really does put in that much effort lol. My only issue is I emailed him about something once and he never got back to me.
Honestly. one of best prof you can get, especially as an honors student, wonderful POLS111 HON class!
Not only did he teach Politics, but he also gave you life lessons and how to view the world differently. He is such a great professor you will ever have in your lifetime.
