Very nice teacher, very willing to help. Tests are all definitions and essays and he wants you to be very specific! I didn't buy the book and passed every test, just use his outlines, they're helpful.
Have him for lab only. He's very helpful when you have a question. Lets you work at your own pace through the lab. Leave early if you want, but make sure you label your printed lab manual pics before you cut out early. Check you lab practical and discuss any questions you might have about your scores. Really nice guy.
Had him for lab. Very helpful when asked questions and grades fairly easy if you follow directions!
Super helpful and interesting! Passionate about what he does and super cute to boot
Very smart and helpful, definitely knows his stuff. He makes lab a lot harder than other lab professors though, if I had to choose again he wouldn't be my first choice.
Impatient and arrogant. Do not take him for lab.
Likes to read straight from the slide. Doesn't elaborate very much on what the slides say. But he definitely knows what he is talking about! But the class is easy to follow online and in class. Also, make sure you're a quick note taker! He flies through slides without giving you time to take notes. Overall not a bad class.
Teaches right from the slideshow. Doesn't elaborate very well. Does not provide in-class activities to help with understanding. Gives online graded homework that sometimes has nothing to do with the lecture. Reading the book and studying his slide shows will help you get through this class.
He is crazy hard. I thought this was a 100 level class not a 300 or 400. His tests are crazy and hard to understand. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!!
The class is hard, and being in a lecture hall with 344 other college students does not make it any easier. The material isn't that difficult to grasp, however, his tests are ridiculous. Reading the book is a necessity if you want a good grade in this class. Be ready for a handful of questions on the test with material you have never learned.
If you read the book, and pay attention in lecture, you should pass the class. Be prepared to go the extra mile when studying. His tests really test for understanding more than regurgitating knowledge back at him. I love bio as a subject, so I did relatively well. Use his office hours!! He gave me study tips when I asked!
Dr Auld although can be a tough professor, is a good one in my opinion! He likes to read straight from the slides so reading the textbook is an absolute necessity for this class. Easy to pass, but not easy to get an A.
He's not a bad guy, but he makes the class unnecessarily difficult. You have to read a lot outside of class. The course will be tough if you aren't naturally competent in biology. In lecture he reads off the slides which is a skill that many college students already possess. The material is rigorous and frustrating- don't put yourself through it.
try not to take this guy for bio 110. If you do not have a good background in bio it will be extremely difficult for you. he takes a 100 level class and makes it as hard as a 300 or 400 level. tests go far beyond what he covers in lecture and you never know what to expect on the tests, except that there will be stuff you've never seen on it
He is a great professor, if you pay attention and take good notes during class, you will pass. If you want to do well on tests (A-B), you will need to read the chapters. He will help you if you go to his office hours. He is very passionate about biology and cares about what he teaches, so he sometimes takes the material farther than necessary.
Dr. Auld runs a tight shift and makes the exams very tough. You must understand the concepts more than terms and be able to apply them. If you read the book though and scan his powerpoints, you can do well on his tests. With that said I would never take him again in my life
Professor Auld was the worst professor I have ever had, and I've had some seriously bad ones. He teaches things that will not be on the tests, his tests are all application, and he makes the class very difficult. I received a higher grade on my test from just reading the book rather than going to class. Don't put yourself through it, it's a waste.
DO NOT TAKE DR. AULD. Worst professor i've ever taken. Incredibly hard tests. Lectures come straight from slides. EXTREMELY arrogant. In the beginning of the semester there were 350+ students. At the end there were less than half of that left. He Doesn't care about his students at all. I Worked extremely hard for a C. I repeat, DO NOT TAKE DR. AULD
This was one of the most ridiculously confusing teachers I've ever had. Bio alone is pretty tough, but this teacher takes it to a whole new level. With 400+ students, after the first test, only 1 got an A. He reads right off the slides and gives you no time to take notes so don't bother. Can honestly say he was the worst prof I've ever had.
Bio 110 is known as a hard class but Auld definitely did not make it any easier. He read straight off power points that were on D2L. The exams had little information from the power points. You have to read ever page of the book in order to do well on the exam.
This class was pretty hard including the fact it comes with a 3 hour lab. Professor Auld knows what he's talking about regardless of the power points, however his teaching method isn't really thorough. He'll teach about 50 pgs worth of a chapter in 50 mins. I know it's a lecture but he isn't really open for questions.
Dr. Auld rushes through his lectures and reviews only a small fraction of the material you will be tested on. If you want to pass this class you must stay up to date with the reading in the textbook.
Please do yourself a favor and do not take him for BIO 110 lecture class. He does not teach to the extent where you understand what's going on unless bio is your niche. I have to read through the textbook chapters and basically try and teach myself all the material. Why I'm paying for someone to teach me and yet I'm teaching myself is beyond me.
Do whatever you can to not take this professor. He reads right from the slides and the material he goes over isn't on the tests. This is a 100level class but he made it like a 300400 level. Out of 350+ students (by the end of the semester there were less than half of that, almost everyone dropped it) only one person got an A on the first test.
It's a tough course in general, but he makes the tests super hard. The questions are very specific. You won't pass if you count on the lectures alone. He answers questions well if you ask, but don't expect to understand much from how quickly he goes through slides.
The absolute worst class I have ever taken. Only one person out of 350+ people got an A on the first exam. Many bio majors failed the exams. He reads off his powerpoints and most of the information isn't even on the exams. I studied for hours on end 2 weeks before an exam and wound up with a 62%, but he does curve them A LITTLE.
You can start studying for a test two weeks in advance and will still get a C. Tests overly specific. Taught like a level 300-400 course but is a gen ed. As of now, the only one in the department who teaches BIO 110, so there is no way out of avoiding it. All I can say is pray for the curve.
Dr. Auld is broad in lectures, but specific on tests. There is absolutely nothing you can do to pass this class unless you are God himself. I studied hours on end, I read the book, and I even went to his office hours - he's willing to help, but he's not good at it. I still almost failed the class.
When the class of 350 average score on a test is a 64 then you know something is wrong. Auld is terrible at lectures by basically just reading off the powerpoint slide and his exams are specific beyond anything. Unfortunately you can't bypass him as he is the only one who teaches it. Expect a C unless you are god.
Really nice don't be afraid to ask questions! Everyone thinks he's a bad teacher bc he reads off of his powerpoint but it's only a 50min lecture so he doesn't have much time to go into to much detail. READ THE BOOK it helps so much and it does a good job of explaining. Gave extra credit as incentive for showing up. Try and you will do well!
Always there to help, class is tough but he tries to make it as clear as possible
Dr. Auld reads directly off the slides so make sure you read the book A LOT to supplement the things he will not teach but will be on the test. He is not a bad teacher he just expects way to much for a 100 level class. Labs are 3 hours long and generaly easy. 350+ people in class first test average was around a 60... Bio is my life but not his bio!
This class is not that hard. If you go to class and put a few days into studying for the tests you will get an A. There is a lot of material, but this is college not high school.
Auld is a very straightforward dude, he's cool and he's willing to help, but the 50 minute classes are NOT enough to fully comprehend everything he reads off of slides. He offers review sessions before tests but if you don't have a good grasp prior even that won't help. May the odds be ever in your favor.
Very straight-forward dude and explains things clearly. Ever since he changed the curriculum for the exams it has been very fair and manageable. Just read up and study ahead and you'll do fine. This is college biology so obviously it's not a walk in the park. Fun fact: He likes to lift and wear bro tanks at the Rec Center
Short homework assignments every week that are pretty easy with a lot of the answers online. The homework questions are pretty similar to test questions, too. STUDY FOR TESTS. No exception. No studying not a great grade. Pay attention to the lectures, a lot of the things he says are on tests and not on slides. Overall, he's pretty nice and clear.
He is very clear in his lectures and it seems as if he really cares that you are learning the material. Try to stay off your phone and avoid talking to your neighbor because his slides have important information. I suggest printing out the slides before class and taking notes directly on it! There were some "pop quizzes," but they were for EC.
He mostly reads off the slides, so even if you don't go to class, you'll be fine! He does offer a lot of extra credit, and all of the homework answers can be found online.
Go to office hours and talk to him! I have taken bio for 5 years prior to this but if you listen close enough he will tell you something you haven't heard before.. Gives extra credit pop quiz twice a semester. Things he talks about gets put on tests more than in the book. Recommend recording lectures. Talks about snail sex a lot.
He's very straight forward everything that he talks about in class will be on the exams. His exams do not try to trick you they just make sure that you know the facts. If you read the book and look at the lecture slides you'll be fine.
Horrible. Probably the worst professor at WCU
NEED the textbook, if you read the textbook, and understand it you will do well in the class. go to class, sometimes it boring but he gives you extra credit every so often.
Everything he goes over in lecture can be found online on the slides. Exams are super hard, all multiple choice but worded very confusingly. I studied for every exam and still did poorly. Overall a pretty tough class.
Long tests, boring lectures
Dr. Auld gets a bad rap but he is actually a really nice and knowledgable professor. He is very straight forward and gives extra credit. If you read the text book and go ask him questions in office hours you will do fine! The class is challenging but if you put the effort in and try your best you can do well!
I had Dr. Auld for Bio 110 and as a lab instructor for Zoo lab. As far as lab goes he is pretty helpful and will do his best to answer your questions. He is pretty nice and chill and there isn't as much as he can do as far as lab goes since Dr. Fish handles all of the material. Just make good use of alb time and study ahead before practicals.
He is a really bad teacher. Whatever you do, do not take him
He wasn't too bad. I had him for BIO 110 and he basically just reads off the slides. If you read the textbook and study the slides, you should do okay on his exams.
He only reads from the slides during lecture (fast), they are not helpful with the homework or for the tests. You MUST get the textbook to read so that you can understand and do well in this class. Print out study guides! They will help, yet you should start studying a week or more in advance for the exams or you will not pass. (Recommend a tutor)
I love Dr. Auld! I had him for my General biology (bio 110) class and he helped me really understand the material. It is a lecture hall, so he is lecture heavy. I never really read the book, but you need the access code to do the hw. Theres never more than 10 questions for the hw. If you come to class and take notes, you will get good grades on the tests!
Dr. Auld is a beast! He's incredibly smart and he knows which students are good students and which are lazy and not willing to do the work to get the A. Don't be the lazy kid, read the book and learn. You will get an A if you read the book, talk to him in office hours, go to class. This is not rocket science.
If you do not have to take bio 110, DO NOT TAKE, for this who have to take it, unfortunately he is the only professor for this class. His exams are very difficult and specific, they are 300 level exams for a 100 level class, you MUST read the textbook if you want to pass the tests, less than half the material from his lecture slides are on the test
Dr. Auld is extremely knowledgeable. He answers questions thoroughly and definitely wants you to understand the material. He teaches a ridiculously hard class that doesn't need to be as difficult as it is. I took it as a gen ed. and really struggled - I ended up dropping the class. Proceed with caution.
Dr. Auld is a very smart man and really knows the material he is teaching you. I can pay attention to his lectures because he is a good speaker and the way he presents the topics make it a lot easier to understand. The tests are a little hard but if you put the time in you will pass. A lot of online homework but overall good professor.
He's clearly an intelligent man, he just can't project it through teaching.
Bio 110 is a very hard course for people who are not good at biology. I personally liked Auld's lectures but I know some people didn't, and he puts a lot of helpful materials on D2L. The online homework and lab quizzes are easy points if you don't test well. If you put a good amount of effort into the class you will get a good grade.
You'll fail if you don't read the textbook cover to cover
Auld is a very intelligent being but has one flaw. This man has no idea how to teach a Bio110 class. This guy couldn't teach a baby to walk. Who's man is this? Who actually thought it would be a great idea to hire this guy? I'm an A student but this class has demolished my near perfect GPA. Unless you're a genius I would advise you to avoid this!
Dr. Auld treats this course like a 400 level bio class. His powerpoints/lectures are not helpful and you need to memorize the textbook in order to have a chance on the exams. Expect to see atleast 1/3 of the questions from material not brought up in lecture or lab. Should not be allowed to teach this course anymore
Dr. Auld is overlooked and deserves more credit than given. He makes this class way tougher than it should be, but that is a good thing. This class turns the boys into men, and you get a good taste of what the later years of college will be like. I commend him for this, granted he is strict with the grading policy which cost me a letter grade.
Dr. Auld is terrible. If you can opt out of taking him please do. He's rude and not useful at all. Test are extremely hard. In lecture he just reads exactly what is on the slide without any further detail
Hardest class I ever took. He is the reason I changed my major from Biology to something else. The tests are extremely hard, the study guides don't help, and he doesn't teach very well.
Dr. Auld is super personable if you show interest in what he teaches and visit him outside of class. He also does research on snails, so... The students who don't come, don't read the book, or just generally don't understand what's going on are the ones who struggle.
I personally do not how he taught an 100 level bio class. To me, its not the information that is bad, it is him and how he decides to teach and make exams. The exams are terrible and are tough to pass. Also he is not helpful. I went to him for help and did not receive any. He can be cool but does not need to be teaching Bio110.
Auld is a really smart guy, he just can't dumb down an intro bio course. READ THE TEXT BOOK AND GO TO CLASS. The textbook is your life line in this class, it helps a lot with exams. 2nd exam is the hardest. 1st and 3rd exam are easiest. His final isn't "cumulative" but technically it is. He will give extra credit on random days for those who attend
Dr. Auld is honestly the worst Bio teacher. He treats this class as if half the students won't pass. He only helps if you go to office hours and even then he makes you feel like a waste of time. He reads right from the lectures and barely explains. Read the textbook and do well in lab and you will pass.
Informative evolution class. Fair grader.
Dr. Auld is one of my favorite professors at West Chester. He is a great lecturer and genuinely wants students to understand the material. That being said, you have to read the textbook and study if you want to do well. If you just go off the power points you won't do well.
I really enjoyed Auld's lectures. He is very clear and more than willing to answer questions. However, you need to work to do well in this class. Read the book!! Come to lecture and do the online homework. If you come into this class expecting it to be easy just bc it's an intro bio class, you are wrong
I really liked Dr. Auld as a person but he made General Biology much too difficult in my opinion. But if you find that you need this class for credit, make sure you get a tutor and make friends with people you sit around so you can all study together. And make sure you come to class because sometimes he'll give 10 points for just showing up.
He's not a bad professor, but he does go quickly- he puts the lecture slides on D2L, and if you skim the textbook, go over the material before the test, and actually study, you'll be fine. Go through the lecture slides and write down notes, then go to lecture and supplement them. 100% go to lecture, he sometimes gives bonus points for attendance.
I feel like a lot of students blame their bad grades on him, but in reality it is their fault. You have to go to lecture, pay attention, take notes, ask questions, and study. He always stops and asks if there is any questions during lecture. He explains things well. He's really nice and willing to help. It's a hard course, so get a tutor.
Dr. Auld is a good guy and most definitely knows what he's talking about, he just isn't the best at teaching it. The class is harder than it needs to be and you have to go to class and study a lot to do well. He gave extra credit for coming to class once toward the end of the semester. Exam 2 is the hardest, then exam 1, then exam 3. Good luck :)
He is a very smart guy but his tests are way to hard. Even if you study a lot its still had to do well. Expect Cs
This was by far the hardest course/class ive ever taken... you dont HAVE to go to lecture but i suggest you do. This class is HARD so study as bet as you can for tests cuz there are only four in a semester. Youll be lucky if you get a C in this class so dont get discouraged, Cs get degrees.
Self declared weed out course for health science majors. Unnecessarily hard for an intro to bio class. Makes you question your whole entire existence. I cried multiple times.
Professor Auld is an amazing professor. Ive had him for bio 110 and as my lab professor for zoology. He is extremely smart and knows exactly what he's talking about. If you have any questions or need help he always proves that for you and he responds to emails. None of these courses are easy, if you don't try you won't pass, but he explains clearly
TAKE LAB SERIOUSLY. It'll really make a difference in your grade. Course isn't the hardest if you read the book, go to lecture, take notes, and get a tutor. You're guaranteed a B if you do all of the above and try.
The final for this class was the hardest test I ever took, almost cried when I read the first page. Dr Auld seems like a nice guy and some of the lectures were pretty interesting, but he just goes through the material super fast. In lecture he tells us we will just need to know the big picture, but then on the tests asks super specific questions.
His lectures are very good and easy to follow. No surprises on the exams if you read the book, go to class and go through the online practice tests. It is easy to lose credit in lab. Especially lab 6-10. For these, learn forward: cell cycle steps, punnett squares and Hardy-Weinberg equation. For lab 1-5 learn forward: X2 equation and p-value.
Okay class. Reccommend going to all classes because class will be ten times easier.
Not going to lie, the class is tough. But he does give random extra credit for showing up to class and says a lot of things in class that aren't on the powerpoint, but will be on test, so show up to class for sure! Also I 100% recommend going to his office hours to check over your tests because he uses some of the same questions on the final!!
I wouldn't say that I hated him at all, but I tried very hard in his class and it still seemed like his tests were never what I studied. Make sure you do the online homework and the labs very well, that'll bump your grade at the end.
Don't be scared of BIO 110. Dr. Auld is one of the few professors who can keep a 300 person lecture interesting. If you study from the book the tests won't trip you up. Many people slack off with this class and don't show up, but it's worthwhile to attend. Toward the end of the semester he even gave extra credit to the people who attended lecture.
Auld is a good professor. He is very articulate and explains concepts in a simplified manner which makes it easier to learn and understand. His exams aren't easy, however--READ THE BOOK. AND DO THE PRACTICE QUESTIONS ONLINE. I cannot stress that enough. Ultimately, your grade reflects your effort. Don't hate him for not 'handing you an A.'
standard bio teacher. I like that he's passionate about biology, it makes it easier to follow. very responsive to emails and accesible outside of class. tests are tricky and cover a lot of info. I think its possible to pass without the textbook because he covers alot of info in the slides, however you will need to purchase the access code for hw.
I respect Dr. Auld because he is very clearly an intelligent person. Sometimes it is frustrating taking BIO 110, because as it is a Gen. Ed. and you may have no actual need or interest for it, he makes it difficult to understand topics sometimes. He is so intelligent that it seems he has trouble making it simpler to understand. Very smart guy.
Dr. Auld is a very intelligent person. He cares about helping you if you care enough to come to him. He goes over tests with you and will help you understand difficult material. He is also tries to give you fall back points Incase you totally bomb a test.
Prof. Auld is a very intelligent person. Bio is a second language for him. He goes into good detail during lecture but tends to go fast. This class is difficult but you will do well if you put in the extra time. READ THE BOOK the book has really good explanations and he takes info from it and uses it on the test. and GO TO CLASS! i'd take him again
Prof. Auld lives biology, he has it in his blood. Extremely knowledgeable of the topic, he's alright at teaching the subject but the material can be confusing at times. If you want to succeed in his class I highly recommend reading the book before lectures, if you put in the work it'll pay off for his class. Overall, I enjoy him as a professor.
If you pay attention to his lectures you'll do okay. DON'T SKIP LECTURES! He knows what he is talking about. If you take good notes, and not copying the powerpoints but more so what he says, you should be okay. I recomend using the book because it will help you a lot. His homeworks always include extra credit if you get it right.
Dr. Auld is a very smart teacher. However, if you do not put in more hours outside of class, then you will not pass. There are only three tests. The study guides have so much information on them that you do not even know what to expect to be on the test.
most important thing-iF YOU DO NOT LIKE READING, do not take this class. Tests are on 100+ pages of material w/random hypothetical questions. To pass you must study the exams for at least a week. I was lucky he gave extra credit at the end. A's in every class except this one. Even if u think u know the material, u dont. MEMORIZE. the. textbook.
Good teacher. Explains everything. The tests are hard. I studied a lot and got Bs, but I could have studied harder so its not his fault.
at first i was super skeptical of dr. auld because of the reviews on here (and also i did SO bad in honors/ap bio in highschool (Ds and Fs bad)). you do have to look over his slides AND the book if you wan't at least a B- in this class; some things on his exam are from his lecture slides and what he says in class.
Definitely go to class and listen/take notes during lectures. He makes his tests from the book and lecture. Also, he doesn't tell you about homework so make i a habit of checking it each day to see when it's due.
Dr. Auld is a great teacher, his exams are hard for an Intro 100 level class. He teaches the class and tests two completely different ways. Lectures are all definitions and memorization, exams are all application and detailed. Hes willing to help you but the earlier you go to him the better, you cannot treat it like other 100 level courses
Gen Bio is hard everywhere you go due to amount of material you need to know. Teaching is clear, organized. He wants students to understand. The multiple choice exams are pretty fair. Prepares you for future bio courses. He's a good prof. You'll be ok if you actually put in the required effort & time. If you're not ok, ask for help or try harder.
Dr Auld is awful. For a Level 100 Bio class he makes it crazy difficult!!! Teaching like its a 300+ level course. Doesn't budge at all on grades and does NOT round grades either. Unfortunately, for EVERYONE, he is the ONLY BIO110 teacher - so you have NO choice but to take him - his class is really just to weed out students
His test are so much more in depth than anything we go over in class or in his powerpoints. chances are that if you think you know it for the test, you do not know enough details. start studying weeks in advance if you want a decent grade.
The exams given were too complex, his lectures covered the material but didn't cover enough for the exams. This course includes lab which really kept my grade up in this class. Make sure you pay attention to HW deadlines.
This class reflects your effort and your ability to learn a TON of material with hypothetical multiple choice. The lab is factored in, so MAKE SURE that helps you out. I loved the class, and I am sad it is ending. Sometimes he gives extra credit for attendance. This class is no joke; if you do not try, you are not going to do well.
BIO 110 is a difficult class in general. Many students failed and said they did not like Dr. Auld as a professor, but those were also the students who did not read the textbook, attend class, do homework, and dedicate time to study. As long as you attend lecture/lab and put in the work, you will be fine.
Dr. Auld is a good professor. A lot of people say they don't like him but it shouldn't be any reason not to. he is truthfully amazing when you get to know him. Going to his office hours will help this understanding of the lecture. Plus, of course you have to put in the time and effort in his class; including studying, reading the textbook, etc.
Professor Auld was the worst teacher I have had and I have had a lot of bad teachers before. He did not seem to care about how his students were doing. His exam reviews were held by the class tutors, he did not show up or help out. A lot of the questions that were on the test were not talked about in class. He takes forever to put grades in.
Dr Auld is the worst professor in the history of professors. He does not care one bit about the well being of his students. All he talks about is how the brainiacs in his class do good and that the rest of us should be on the same level. His tests are nearly impossible and he makes zero effort to assist anyone with anything. Dont take this class.
Just Study and put in effort !!!!!!
I did fairly well in this class but I did not like it at all. Dr. Auld was far from understanding during the online semester and gave students very limited time on each exam, which forced you to rush through it. If he was so worried about cheating he should have used a proctoring service. I can not recommend this professor.
Very thorough when explaining questions. Study and know the material like the back of your hand (as for any science based class). I had a huge class and it was on zoom but he did a great job explaining. READ YOUR TEXTBOOK and youll do fine. Lectures are straight forward and to the point on the material and he doesnt talk about himself/life at all
I had him entirely online. His class was 50 minutes long and once a week. All he did was answer questions the entire class, and if lucky maybe a small powerpoint. He told us just know the vocabulary and bacis, and you'll be fine. All my other classes are B's and A's, I have a C+ in class. His homework and quizzes and exams are so specifc and hard.
Shows up 30 minutes per week despite being synchronous. Youre teaching yourself and tests are timed even though the material is not properly taught.. He expects all of the effort from you but none from himself. Horrible waste of money.
The timing for these exams are ridiculous. Nursing exams give more time than this class. Students aren't going to do their best because they're stressing out about the time instead of focusing on the actual material. The once a week meetings are useless because it's just an Q&A. Sometimes you don't know what questions you need to ask.
Do not recommend . gave us virtually no time during our exams and it felt we were being rushed, and not able to give our most accurate answers because we were too worried about the time. Also doesnt really teach and expects us to teach ourselves. we had 30 minutes lectures that were really just Q&As that did not help at all.
Lots of chances to boost your grade in this class. Exams are very easy if you study using the study guide(all multiple choice). I dont know why people complain about the timing of his exams, its standard for any college class. He posts detailed lectures for every unit. Its literally just memorization...
So I wish I had him in person because maybe it would have been different? However, tests are IMPOSSIBLE. You are given 40 minutes to answer 50 questions? How on earth is that possibible, especially for a biology class. It would be a different story if I hand't studied but I did. Everyday!
He honestly was not that bad of a professor. You must stay up to date with all the homework's he gives out and really pay attention to what he says in class. Most of the questions on tests are directly from class lectures/answer sessions. If he gives polls, take pictures of them to study off of.
I dont understand why people give him poor reviews.. just study, read the assigned textbook chapters, and do the homework. I got an A in his class and I studied an average amount. The textbook readings helped the most. Hes not the best prof ever, but hes far from the worst. Discipline yourself and youll do fine.
Dr. Auld was a good prof in the sense that he taught the material to us and then we had to memorize this information. Tests are difficult and sometimes poorly worded; however, if you study by using the study guide and some homework questions, you should be fine. I did ok on the tests, but still managed to get an A because of the other points .
He is an amazing professor. This class is easy if you watch lectures and do use the study guide questions. Use office hours and Read the textbooks , it is useful.
Professor Auld is such a nice and caring professor. Go to office hours and take good notes from his lectures and you will do fine. I recommend him to everyone. He is extremely willing to help.
Along with the struggles that already come with online school, Professor Auld makes it 1000 times worse. His teaching strategy is called "flipped classroom" which means he does not teach synchronously on zoom but post lecture videos instead. Not to mention he gives 40 mins for 50 question test on which is beyond ridiculous.
Professor Auld is knowledgeable about biology but he is a horrible teacher. Online class was mandatory despite it only being a Q&A (actual lectures were recorded), tests were unreasonably long for the amount of time he gives you to take them. Auld will go out of his way to not do his own job.
I took it in the summer and for a short semester he gave a lot of information that is humanly not possible to process. I expected this class to go over the basics of BIO instead of in depth material in such short amount of time. Assigned too much work. Timing for exams is TERRIBLE- 40 mins for 50 questions. Get ready to teach yourself if its online
This class wasn't hard at all, but you need to put in the work. It's a lot of information in a very short period of time, but if you put in many hours each day and do all of the homework you will do fine. The teacher is very willing to help throughout the semester. If you put in the work, study lecture slides, and watch his lectures you'll do fine!
Dr. Auld is always willing to help and lectures as best as someone teaching bio can. This is not a subject that can just be lectured to you--you have to put in the work. Lots of memorizing, reading, and assignments that are a bit unnecessary. I actually like that participation is required because going to class really helps here.
Dr. Auld is a great professor! Explains the concepts clearly, gives the right amount of homework, and tests are appropriately challenging. Fantastic professor.
Auld is the best! He puts the effort into teaching his subject and loves to help his students. He can explain things very well within his lectures.. one of the only professors I understand this well in lec
Great professor, hard class
Professor Auld is a very knowledgeable professor but tends to ramble and necessarily broadens topics to the point where you feel lost. If you plan on taking his course I recommend writing down the notes on the slides prior to attending class so you can keep up. This is a very in-depth bio class and it will be challenging. GOOD LUCK!
Josh Auld has made me hate Biology. If you are taking this class for a gen ed and don't really care about biology, then it's perfect. However, if you want to learn biology run away, all of the quizzes, homework, and textbook work is online. Auld teaches this class like he gave up on teaching biology and made the class an easy A.
Dr. Auld is a good professor and you can see how interested is he in science. He doesn't stand out to me as a professor because the class size was very large, but nothing makes him a bad professor. Class isn't hard, just do the homework quizzes due every week and study using the Amoebe Sisters on yt and you're set.
Dr. Auld has a true passion for biology, which makes his lectures very enjoyable. His class sizes are large, but if you make the effort to introduce yourself, you will have his respect.
There's a lot of material in BIO 110, but Dr. Auld really makes the effort to explain things clearly and make the course interesting. He never gives the impression that you asked a ignorant question, and is clear about grading and test information. Ask questions, go to office hours, and you'll stand out.
Lectures weren’t always the most interesting, but he covered everything on the exams. Homework wasn’t too bad, just time consuming. Multiple choice exams, not too bad, but not super easy either. He’s very easy to reach & extremely helpful.
auld is so annoying and his class is painfully boring. his slides will have a sentence on them and then he'll talk for 30 mins expanding on it just spewing boring pointless nonsense. he's so dramatic too when he talks its just annoying. easy class tho. wouldn't take again tho bc hes so annoying.
These reviews are crazy! He's great. Schedule time during his office hours to discuss the tests. He won't give your tests back, but if you ask he'll review what you got wrong one on one. The tests are fairly simple multiple choice. He's a stickler for time management: you get docked 50% if you turn things in late. He does reward participation.
Dr. Auld is a very smart man, and he is very nice with giving students extra credit for attending class at end of semester. The exam are difficult but you need to put in the work like reading the textbook, doing the homework and attending lectures.
Auld's passionate about what he teaches The lectures are information heavy but not horrible. Exams aren't difficult nor easy they're more comprehension based. Know the information but be prepared to apply it. Online homework assignments weekly sometimes extra credit is given. Wants his students to succeed but you do need to apply yourself as well.
Class is relatively easy homework wise. All of the homework is used by a third party source called "Mastering", and is readily available online. However, will not round your grade up because he says that is "Unethical", yet he gives more questions than minutes allowed, to do the exams which is actually unethical.
Lecture met three times a week with online homework assignments, online homework quizzes, and online exams. The exams were both online and open note. This course overall was not too difficult but having a background in biology definitely helped. Dr. Auld is very dry and reads from a slideshow. Tries very hard to be funny and not super interesting.
This class was self explanatory. Lectures were straightforward and he went off of his powerpoint. He did take attendance everyday but allowed us to miss 9 classes without having any penalty for it. He suggests reading the book and I only did when there were topics I wasn't completely confident with. The final and exams were online and open note.
I am not going to lie it is not that hard of a class and many people skip it the only reason I got a C was cause I was late for homework and got hit with it being late. You can mostly google or use notes on the test and he is a cool instructor to have.
The exams are online and at home, but some of the questions don't accurately reflect what is taught in the course. Otherwise the lecture and other assignments are relatively easy and Dr. Auld is very approachable with questions.
I really dislike bio. He was an okk lecture. Homeworks were easy just remember to do them. He is a little boring.
He is a good professor, however if you cannot learn from just a lecture, I do not recommend taking this class. There is no projects or anything else besides lecture then quiz.
Auld teaches this course well. If you want the most out of the class, read the textbook and actually listen to the lectures. It's a lowkey demanding class but manageable.
