HE is really easy and he tries to make sure everyone have a good grade at the end of the semester. HE is very lenient when it comes to homework assignment s and he is very helpful when you go to his office....RECCOMMENDED

i took his class for Engl 102, he is very cool, and lets you write about current topics. he helps you to come at your topic from a different point of view. he grades fairly and has manditory one on one meetings for all of his students, which really helped me. if you go to class, and turn in the rough drafts on time, and participate, you will pass.

TAKE HIM! He makes reading literature fun and enjoyable. Makes jokes and keeps it interesting while still learning. Most class got As and Bs. and he is HOTT!!

He's one of the coolest English teachers I've ever had. He let you choose your paper topics. Doesnt require much outside work other than papers. And is challanges you to think deep about the subject and challanges you to be better, and he's really funny. Definally take him.

He is sooo easy, he takes forever with your papers, but he doesnt grade them hard. hes very understanding. and if you miss class when the papers due, just email him he will except it! i liked his class.

TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! He is AWESOME. Hilarious and really laid back. His tests are short answers which are actually really long, but he grades easy and fair. I absolutely LOVED this class. Looked forward to the laughs we'd get every day. He did curse us & kick us out of class once for not reading, but he apologized the next class. Awesome guy.

Has a voice like Sylvester Stalone, always looking at the ceiling when he talks, quite the funny guy. But, in all seriousness, he's a great teacher. You can tell he has a passion for what he does. I'm taking his 223 class, and his grading is pretty easy.

Okay, people say easy A, but as fun as his class is, he is a tough grader. For straight A students, he will test you, but won't fail you. Class participation is a grade & discussions are FUN! Take him. He is cool.

Josh is very funny. His tests are kind of long but not difficult at all. I enjoyed going to class, take him if you can.

AWESOME teacher. Very easy class. He applies english and the papers we write to everyday life. I hate english but I actually looked forward to coming to class. We wrote only three papers and one was a final essay.

He's a great professor, but he gave me a B. I'm normally a 4.0 student, and when I asked him why I received a B, he didn't have an answer(Not to mention he never returned anything graded back to me). Others seem to have had better luck, but I can't recommend a professor who gives grades without providing an explanation. Very disappointing.

Don't be fooled by the surfer-boy look, this guy's a superb teacher! he's very intelligent and loves it when his students talk to him one-on-one. he provides plenty of insight for your poems and short story and he can tell what your ideas are in your stories. he cares a lot about his students. A+ teacher!

This class was super easy! We only wrote 3 papers and a final that didn't count toward the class. Attendance is almost half of your grade, so going to class will guarantee your entry to ENGL 102. He's a funny, interesting person. Highly recommended!

Awesome teacher and a very interesting individual. You have fun in class and learn a lot. It wasn't a ton of work, but there was some reading and writing. He swears all the time and definitely doesn't look like an English professor. But don't be fooled. His class was the only one that I didn't skip all semester. It was so fun and informative.

Absolutely loved Josh Capps! He's an awesome professor. All we did was read novels & do response papers on them. He's a really easy grader. The midterm was take home & the final paper was easy too. Take him! He is funny and has a great personality!

Capps is great. Genuinely interested in his curriculum, which makes you interested in it. Funny guy, informative. Tests are tough but TRY & put something down & he'll give you some credit. I took him for a 1/2 summer course, would have enjoyed a full semester. Related one of the stories to Rick James, so you can't go wrong with that.

I took this course as 1/2 a summer, thought it was going to be an overload on reading but he is very understanding that it is summer. Really cool, and makes the class interesting to pay attention. Take good notes on what he says will be on the test, study the night before and you are good to go! He rocks!

All we did was read books, discussed every chapter in class and when the book was over, we wrote a 2 page paper on the book. Very easy class. Gives good feed back on your papers. Hilarious and easy going. Very passionate about all the books chosen. Outstanding teacher.

Mr. Capps came into the class room on the first day with a goal of making the students in the room enjoy writing. He defiantly succeeded. Taking him was not hard, as he made the work enjoyable. There were only three papers and a few journal checks, but he is very helpful in telling you what he wants. All books were online in pdf format.

Capps is an amazing teacher. I've taken him for two different classes , this one and creative writing and he was great in both. No tests. After each book we finished we had to write him a short 2 page essay on something we found interesting about the book. The final is an essay on one of the books we read and another form of literature.

Mr. Capps is the best writing instructor I have ever taken. He provides great feed back and really pushes you to succeed. Highly recommend taking screen writing with him. You have six small writing assignment and one full length script due at the end of the semester. He is very helpful and will advance you as a writer.

He is definitely the coolest professor I had this semester. He almost never comes to class and when he does, don't expect to do much. Its a very easy class where you spend weeks doing exercises that don't count for grades to prepare you to write papers. Any book you use can be found online for free. Really easy class.

Really humble man! There were several readings (books/collections) but the class, nor the readings, was boring. He reads over HW readings in the next class; A few quizzes in the beginning; Response papers after each book/story. Wish he accepted RDs. I got B's on every paper but I know that I could've gotten A's if he did; The final is a paper.

One of my favorite professors so far! He really loves what he is teaching and it shines through his lectures. There is a 3-4 page paper after each book and then a final paper. I made As on all of my papers, so he is a pretty fair grader. You will find yourself wanting to attend his class! 10/10 would take again!

One of my favorite professors! He was very chill and down to earth, plus he's a very fair grader. He makes his lectures interesting with jokes and comments. We were supposed to have six papers plus mid and final, but he cut one response due to time. He's super understanding! Lots of papers, but they're not difficult!

LOVED Capps! All the authors we read were so good, and his lectures were really insightful. We had one paper for each author (analyzing any aspect we wanted to) and a final paper (pick an author, pick an addition book/work by them, and a third book or movie/album/etc). We got to 5/6 authors, and we never had a quiz or a midterm. But go to class!

One of those rare teachers that will make you love what they're teaching even if it's your worst subject that you hate. He is incredibly nice and lenient about everything including missing class and assignments. Just do what he assigns as well as you can and you'll pass. He cares more about personal improvement instead of everything being perfect.

Capps made me think about English in a way I never knew was possible. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it's best if you go. Writing exercises are unique and made me want to go to class. Cancelled at the last minute a lot, which was inconvenient. He's funny, open to ideas, easy to talk to, and just wants to see improvement in your writing. A rarity.

He is so chill when teaching. We talked about 1 book but only read the first 2 chapters. He gives amazing writing activities that eventually lead into the next paper you will write. I had him read over my last paper and pretty much asked him if he would let me pass with an A. He cancels like nobody's business. He introduces new ways of writing .

Definitely the best English teacher I have ever had the pleasure of having. Writing activities are engaging and modern. ACTUALLY wants his students to improve and pass. So open to hearing students' ideas about reading material (even though we barely used it lol). Take his class if you get the chance!

He did cancel a bunch of classes usually right before class started which was pretty inconvenient. His class is a very good transition from high school to college English courses.

Cool guy, but it's basically a lecture and go home and write kind of class. If you don't want to read/write a lot of essays, don't take the class.

Take him if you have to take 290! Wrote a total of 4 papers on books we talked about in class. You choose the topic and just don't summarize. Easy and fun! The final was a paper using 3 books, but it wasn't bad either. It's a discussion based class. He's really chill & easy to reach. I'll prob see what else he teaches just to have him again.

There was a lot of reading, but the discussions/lectures on the books we read were very in depth and helpful for writing the papers. Pretty easy class as long as you showed up for the lectures.

Hes very enthusiastic and entertaining. Theres a lot of reading and writing, but hes very accommodating. No complaints

he has a different view on readers that read the same story and understand not all people see the same thing when reading the same story.

This class was made into a screenwriting class, and pretty much all we did was go over a movie structure, watch movies and shows, and write a script as a final. Simple, but he made it incredibly enjoyable and made me aware of things I was previously unaware of. A very fun professor that I'd absolutely take again.

His UNIV class was very simple and interesting. We listened to music and watched movies and discussed the symbolism in their writing. Our only real assignments were a few discussion boards on Moodle and our final, which could be anything we wanted (paper, video, art, etc.) Definitely recommend for any incoming freshman taking UNIV, he's great!

When it comes to good teachers, Professor Capps is as good as it gets. Hilarious, easy grades, and is passionate about what he does. I was diagnosed with COVID-19 during the semester and he was so understanding. He also had youtube videos on the books we were covering, allowing me to be up to date with lectures. Words can't describe how great he is

Definitely show up to class, he gave us off every other Friday if we would all show up. Good teacher and makes things interesting. I highly recommend!!

Loved his class! He's a caring dude that loves the material, and made the class fun. He's always open to other interpretations and gives great lectures looking in to the pieces. Journals really help you get into the right mindset for the work. Amazing!

Taking his class was like a breath of fresh air! I would skip my biology and chemistry classes but make it a point to go to his classes because he was such an enjoyable teacher. Make sure to go to class because he does tell you what you need to know about the readings for the test. He has such an easy going and great personality. Would take again!

This was one of my favorite classes as an English major. Attendance is not mandatory but it would be helpful to go to class because he gives open notes quizzes. He did tend to cancel class last minute.

This is one of my favorite professor's I have taken. I was never a big literature person, but the stories he had us read were very interesting. He's a really cool person and never made class boring, I would 100% take him again.

This professor was very enjoyable. He always tries to engage with his class with humor, but I found it fun rather than cringe; I think that's subjective, though. The readings were not too challenging or lengthy, though he did assign a book near the tail end of the semester; it was not a difficult read either. He doesn't seem to be a harsh grader.

The professor is really good at explaining the stories(interesting to read). The whole thing about the class is showing up and listening to him and reading the stories. The trick to the test is giving answers that make it look like you actually read the stories. I didn't really think there was a wrong answer to any of the questions.
