Great professor - Im lucky I got his class.
Professor Good was great! Math has always been really difficult for me but he made it easier for me to understand and he uses websites that make it easier to learn
I was worried about taking a math class at night but Professor Good was fantastic. He genuinely cares about his students and had us sit in groups in class so we would work together and help each other which helped me a lot.
Great Professor. Makes math look easy. Fully recommend Prof. Good for this of you who have difficulty grasping math concepts. He breaks everything down in the easiest possible way. I highly recommend him!!
I am struggling to get a good grade in this class, but for the first time ever I feel like I understand math. Professor Good is excellent.
The class is tough but he helped me a lot and really cared about me as a person. I even asked him for advice about my major. I wish he taught precalc and calc
Amazing Math Professor. Best of the Best .
Excellent Math Professor ever in Queens College . He really love teaching , class is easy if you really study and do homework. I strongly recommend yours guys to take this class with him if you really want to learn Math..
He's the best instructor I have ever had. He really cares about his students and teaches math so everyone understands it. I wish every professor could be like him. Your grade is based off 3 test , 1 final , a few quizzes and online practice .
Hilarious and hands down amazing professor. If you despise math as much as I do, youll be fine in his class. He explains everything in the easiest ways possible and makes sure his students understand before he moves on.
Professor Good is actually cares about us learning and gives us many opportunities to learn and practice which is exactly what I needed because math is very difficult for me. As long as you don't miss class you will learn a lot.
Professor Good is definitely the best instructor that i ever had for math. he makes learning math fun, and this is from someone who always hated math. He is very caring, and will explain something that you don't understand over and over until you get it. he is very funny as well, and makes the class very entertaining.
Professor Good, is one of its kind. His experience speaks for itself. I strongly recommend taking him (Not that there are other professors out there that care as much as he does). You will be able to understand the fundamentals and hopefully master it. The professor looks for consistency and practice- lots of it. The only way of getting better.....
This class was really difficult for me but Professor Good helped me a lot and made math easier to understand.
Caring and easy to understand
best professor i have ever had. Just show u to class and study and you'll get a good grade. the grade is based off 2 quizzes , 3 test , online assignments and final. You don't need to purchase anything unless you want to for extra help.
Joshua Good is a pretty good professor. He's hilarious to take and makes math easy. But be careful of his grading, as his syllabus does not give the exact breakdown on how everything is graded. Be sure to ask exactly how much each assignment/ test is worth. That aside, solid professor. Joshua Good will make learning math a lot simpler and easier.
He's a great teacher, but he looks to trick students on tests. If you get tricked easily in math then don't do it. Aside from that he's great
This professor goes above and beyond to help his students - he gives online math help that makes it easier to learn and practice, and he stays enourages us to bring questions from the textbook and assignments that we need help with. He is very caring and helpful, but his exams cover a lot of material and you have to make sure you practice a lot.
Very good, he embraces technology which gives so much opportunity to understand and master every topic he assigns. Do what he tells you and you should do fine.
He is very caring and great at teaching. The class is difficult but he gives a lot of great resources and encourages us to ask for help when we need it. Excellent professor!
Great professor! Crystal clear during lectures, grades based on exams. During lectures he is focused on everybody following along and learning, so if you don't understand something he wants you to ask. Don't miss class because it's not easy to learn from the textbook.
I am really grateful that I had Professor Good because math is very difficult for me but he always took the time to help me whenever I needed it. He also took time to help me figure out my major and find some potential internships. Highly recommended
Took in summer semester. Prof Good explained the material clearly and in a way to make the concepts and rules make sense. Strongly encourages use of videos and practice he posts online, was very helpful. Always be on guard for surprises, but dont worry youll be ok even if youre not ready. Wish he taught higher level classes! He wants you to pass
Took prof good in a summer session. Made concepts super easy to understand. he gave a lot of chances to make up any poor grades if you did the online work and came to class. Don't miss lecture and do all the online work for a good grade. Beware of pop quizzes, also does not give partial credit for any tests or quizzes
Great professor - this is the first time I feel like I am learning math and understanding it.
Really good professor and has done a lot to help me learn. This is my second time taking the class and I finally Im learning
He doesnt always give partial credit on tests and spends a lot of time talking about learning from your mistakes. Very caring and does a lot to help people like me who suck at math
Prof. Good is an excellent instructor. He is patient, understanding and very fair. Practice and dont miss class.
Lucky that I had this professor because he really does care about his students passing and gives many opportunities for us to improve and learn from our mistakes. Take him and you wont be sorry
Failed this class two times before - professor good is the best and made math something I could understand. The online videos and homework helped me alot.
Honestly, best prof ever. He really teaches you the basics before the hard stuff. He explains in great detail and if you pay attention and do the homework you can def pass. He is very patient and answers any questions. I have never met a teacher as passionate and helpful as he was. He helped me understand everything
Terrible professor makes a 100 level course stupid hard for no reason and acts sarcastic af for no reason. if you mess up he'll make sure the class knows bout ur business too
Ridiculous professor! Doesnt try to help when you ask for it either. Very disappointed because his reviews convinced me that he was good. Dont take him if you actually want to do well because it wont happen!
He's alot of fun and focuses on small common mistakes. Cares about you learning from your mistakes gives opportunities to boost your grade like quiz corrections and online exams. You go to college hoping to find teachers as fun, passionate, and caring as he is. Just make sure you practice a lot and ask for help when you dont understand something
Prof. Good is a funny yet very effective and good Professors, he is very accessible outside of class. He gives u extra points on quizzes by submitting mistakes. Even if I did bad in class, he was good Proffesor non the less.
1 test he let us do with a partner in class, 1 quiz he let us do at home online and 1 quiz he let us fix our mistakes and gave us half the points we lost. A few homework assignments he extended the deadlines. Every test and quiz he wanted us to fix and explain our mistakes. He always stayed after class to answer questions. Great teacher and person.
Genuinely a great guy who respects his students. He does everything in his power to help you pass while also learning the material in the simplest way possible.
This was a very difficult class for me but Professor Good helped me a lot, for example he always answerd my questions during class and after class and his activities really helped me do better.
Too many assignments but I learned a lot
We had to do a lot of writing assignments and create math projects for different ages and we worked in groups. It was a lot of work but I loved the class.
I loved this class even though Im not happy with my grade. I learned so much about how to be a good math teacher
Excellent
Lots of work. We had a bunch of writing assignments and had to create math activities for each grade prek to 6.
He gives a ton of practice on Deltamath and the review sheets and he went over a lot of examples in class and gave time for questions. He also had us work in groups. I liked this class and I never liked math before.
We did assignments in class that I was able to use in my classroom and with my kids too!
He does a lot to help people who struggle and gives everybody a chance to learn from their mistakes and do better. A+ professor
Professor Good makes everybody correct their mistakes so we learned from them. He is very good at making math easier to understand and genuinely cares.
Professor Good did a great job. His assignments and class discussions were very creative and insightful.
Excellent and caring professor
This was the first time in my life that I didnt hate going to math class. I wish I had him this semester for precalc.
He's really good, especially if you don't remember a lot of math from high school, only thing is he doesn't allow to use calculators for test, and no partial credit what so ever. Beware!!! he's nice but grades hard
Professor Good is a great professor. He takes the time to explain math and is constantly going over common mistakes and tricks so we dont make them. I have had a lot of math teachers and he definitely is great at what he does
crazy that someone rated this guy poor! I had him last semester and he was the best math teacher I ever had. He was always helpful and had a group chat that I used to ask for help when I was doing homework and correcting mistakes on exams. I took 115 two times before having professor good and trust me, you are lucky if you can get into his class
Literally the best math teacher I've ever had. He explains everything in such a great and simple way!!! Did horribly on the first exam but he helped me focus on the mistakes I made so I wouldnt make them again. I really love this guy's way of teaching. Exams are tough but if you do all the practice you'll do fine!
Professor Good is a good teacher and offers a lot of supports. HOWEVER, 115 is a difficult math class so don't take it unless you are 100% sure you have time for studying and practice unless. Also there is A LOT of material to go through so its easy to fall behind. He constantly talks about things people get wrong all the time which helps a lot
We had to do a lot of research into different ways to teach math from grades pre-K to 6 and create activities and projects for every grade. We also had to do a bunch of writing assignments that were pretty short. It was a fun class to be in but alot of work
I always struggled with math but he teaches in a way that I understand. Even though I have been struggling the entire semester, I would have been lost by week 2 if it wasnt for Prof Good
Had him in the Fall and miss his teaching! His tests are similar in difficulty to the review sheets and the homework, and he got me ready for the department final exam. The material is not easy, but his lecture is super clear and helpful. If you pay attention in class, do your homework carefully and ask for help when you needed it you will be ok.
Great Professor & great class. Professor clearly loves what he does & will always give you good feedback. Really enjoyed this class!
I learned a lot from this class! I don't know if my grades will be the best though. His instructions were sometimes unclear. However, I learned a lot and feel more prepared to be a teacher. Class is interactive and fun, but there will be assignments due every week. If you are someone who has trouble being consistent, this class isn't for you.
Prof. Good sets you up for success! He clearly explains the algebraic steps in a simple manner. He stresses the importance of practicing and doing the homework. Skipping a class is not recommended especially if you have no algebraic knowledge like me. Prof. Good is a great teacher who knows his stuff!!!
Prof. Good is a knowledgeable math teacher. He cares for his students. This does not mean he is an easy grader. He is very fair with quizzes and grades. Homework is essential but reviewing and keeping up with the workload are the only ways to be successful. He has a unique sense of humor which makes his classes fun!
Professor Good makes the class fun and entertainment. There are weekly assignments and activities given and due every week. The activities are simple once you have a clearer understanding of what he wants. I would of liked if he had given examples for some of the assignments. If you aren't ready to work and participate you wont pass this class.
I had an awesome experience in this class and feel like I learned so much about how to be a good math teacher.
Great professor
This class was so much work but was worth it because I got to learn so much about math in every grade from pre-K to 6th grade. If you want to learn how to be a creative math teacher take this class!
This math is different than the other Math 119 or any math classes I ever have taken. This focuses more on education levels rather than formula and equation alone. There are daily assignments every week then creating projects and activities which included participation. If you don't want to spend time doing textbook problems then take this class.
I failed 115 with a different professor in the fall semester because the way they explained math didnt make sense, but with Professor Good I actually understand everything he taught. He gave review sheets, practice problems in class, and has homework that we did on Deltamath.
I loved doing work every class in groups and making activities for students to take home and do with their parents. It took some time to learn how to make good activities and projects but I got better as we did more. Professor Good had us do so many different assignments that helped me realize how challenging it is to be a math teacher.
If you practice in between classes with the review sheets and online assignments you can easily pass this class. Professor Good breaks down the math really good but I realized if I didnt practice after class I forgot everything quickly. He also had me fix my mistakes and was very helpful and caring.
Professor Good is an incredibly organized teacher and a talented lecturer. He offers many resources to help the class succeed. Absolute pleasure to take his class.
Professor Good is extremely passionate about teaching and making sure we understand the underlying concepts well. His exams are relatively straightforward if you do all of the practice and review. Overall a fantastic professor!!!
Be prepared to do your own research and have a printer as well as accessible internet connection to do your homework. Being lazy will not get you far. Must be creative and want to have the drive to teach elementary students. I would recommend this professor to strong, agile minded friends.
Prof. Good is the best Math teacher I've ever had. Without a doubt. His lectures are super clear and he always takes a lot of time to make sure everyone has understood the concepts before moving on. Just make sure you do all of the review sheets and Deltamath homework.
Very clear, thorough, and genuinely wants everybody to succeed. Definitely take him if you can
Nice enough guy the first couple days of classes. Then he starts giving mountains of work, with no instruction of how to do the homework and class assignments. Every class. After a decent amount of time you figure out how to do the homework. But he gives work back rarely, so you have no clue what your doing wrong. Harsh grader. Horrible feedback.
Not everybody should become a teacher - like the previous rater. Prof Good did a great job and was creative. All of his assignments have instructions and he stays after each class to answer questions. My group did great because we asked lots of questions but others in the class made terrible activities and their presentations were horrible.
We had to do a lot of creative assignments that challenged us to understand how to be an excellent teacher. I actually looked forward to going to class and it was fun, which is not something I can say about any of my other courses.
Professor Good is actually hilarious, the perfect balance of a relaxed class environment and promoting success. His lectures were pain-free. I was in his 115 night class and absolutely would recommend him to all future students. He was always able to answer any questions and was highly accessible through group chat and after class.
We learned about almost everything a math teacher would have to do in their class and a bunch of things that many teachers neglect, for example, helping students who are new to learning English and students with IEPs. We created math activities, projects, rubrics, and researched and presented creative ways of teaching elementary math concepts.
Math has never made any sense to me but this professor goes above and beyond to ensure you understand the material. He was great emailing me back when I had questions and needed explanations. Plus he has a YouTube playlist that was very helpful and Deltamath practice. I wish I could have him for precalc.
Math is my worst subject but I actually did ok with Professor Good. There is something about the way he teaches that it all made sense, especially stuff from high school I never understood. A+ professor
Excellent professor. He tells it like it is and is very honest when giving feedback which not everybody is ready for. I just wished he gave less assignments.
Honestly the first math class I didnt hate
I am so glad I took 119 with Professor Good - I have some friends who had horrible experiences with other professors and had to take it multiple times to pass. The class was really fun to be in and i learned so much about what things I need to do to be a great math teacher. Try and take his class if it isnt already full.
Loved this class.! Definitely a lot of assignments but worth the time and experience
Professor Good is very knowledgeable about teaching math and helped me understand how to create successful lessons, projects, activities and more.
When I took 115 I thought Prof Good was a tough grader, but after taking MAT122 I understand why - those small mistakes will cause you to fail. He is very thorough and easy to understand. I liked his class and hoped he would teach precalc and calc but he doesnt.
He is sometimes harsh with feedback but he genuinely wants everybody to become good teachers. Be ready for constant internet searching. Dont take his class if you are lazy!
He has a non-traditional and unique approach that taught me how to become a great teacher. The class was challenging and fun. Highly recommended
Down to earth and easy to understand. Homework similar to exam questions
I loved his class because he made math easier for me to understand. Great review sheets and online homework which helped a lot.
Very unpredictable and gives us assignments where we had to make fun activities and projects for kids without even teaching us how. He's so unpredictable that I consider taking a different professor or course! Yes- you do learn a lot in this class, but much of that is from the experience of making the assignments, for which he can fail you.
Hw is not mandatory but do it as practice for yourself. This math is not easy a lot of info but Prof. Good makes it easy to understand. 3 Short NO tricky AT ALL exams, gives review sheets for all. WATCH YOUR SIGNS AND DOBLE CHECK YOUR EXAM, ALL YOU NEED TO PASS THIS CLASS
I love this class even though its a lot of work. Its really fun and its actually the only class I look forward to going to.
Very genuine and caring. He constantly stops to see if anybody has questions and offers a variety of helpful resources. A+ professor
His lectures are great you just have to make sure you practice a lot.
I took Professor Good for 119 last year and I am now working in a school and use so many of the things I learned in this class. It was definitely challenging to keep up with all of the assignments, but I learned so much and have so many great resources to use now that I am in a classroom. definitely take this class with him but be ready to work!
A real gem! like many others have said he is great at teaching and his review sheets and online practice help so much. He spends time going over common mistakes too.
Why wont he teach precalc or calc !!!!
Loved his class, especially because he spends time focused on mistakes people make. I wish more professors spent time on stuff like that, maybe I wouldnt be making so many mistakes in precalc.
This was a tough class because we had to do a lot of assignments, but I did learn so much about all the things I should do if I want to be a great teacher. I took some other ed classes but this one made me realize how much goes in to being a teacher, like helping ELL and IEP students and making math easier to teach instead of boring and horrible.
The best!!! Do all the homework and review sheets and youll do great and dont miss any classes or youll be lost . I missed one class and it took me forever to understand what I missed!
Take his class if you can, as long as you dont miss class and do the homework and review sheets you'll do really well. Not an easy A but he makes the class entertaining and is easy to understand.
There were so many assignments but nothing was difficult but took some time to complete. You can use online resources like YouTube, Pinterest and TPT which made many assignments simple. definitely not an easy A and you really have to be creative and find unique methods to teach math if you want a good grade.
Finally passed 119 thanks to Professor Good! He made the class about learning how to be a math teacher, not about learning high school math.
I must stay I didnt love being in the class because of all the work that we had to do, but now that its over I do have to admit that it was a great experience and I really do feel prepared to teach math. I cant believe how many tools I have to use in my future classroom. This is an excellent class for anybody who really wants to be a teacher.
For me this class was perfect because I work in an elementary school and was able to use the class assignments in my actual classroom with my students. Very practical and useful resources that I will always be using as a teacher.
As many others have already said he makes math much easier to understand and encourages everybody in class to work together and help each other and ask him questions while he is teaching.
Way too many assignments but you learn so much doing them so I guess if you are going to take this class do all your assignments on time because it gets overwhelming very fast
You have to work for your grade in this class. Professor Good is pretty straight forward with what is to be expected. If you don't understand what needs to be done then it's most likely because you didn't pay attention to his directions, which are very clear. Great Professor.
Finally I dont hate math. I loved his teaching style and how he focuses on mistakes that people make most often. Exams are 85% of the grade and online homework 15%. If your attendance is good you get partial credit on the final. He is caring and genuine.
I thought this class was going to be easy because I read reviews before registering but this class is not an easy A at all, and its not an easy B either. Dont miss class, do all the practice he gives and ask for help. make sure you practice a lot for the quizzes and exams. I do recommend prof good to everybody
You will have to work for your grade but trust me, it's worth it.
His lectures were awesome but then with Coronavirus our class became an online class. If you want to do great make sure you practice as much as you can on deltamath and ask for help when you are stuck or confused - he always answered any questions I emailed him and kept encouraging our class to use a groupchat to help each other.
Im the worst at math but he gave me the chance to at least get higher then a B- for my program. Gives you great study guides, homework assignments actually help a lot, and explains material very well. If you arent the best at math he will defiantly make you better. Test and quizzes are also from HW which is nice. I recommended
He does clear exercises that are complex. In his lectures you can understand the logic behind each mathematical operation. You should do your homework, go the extra mile to practice after class on your own, and you may get an A. To be a math professor, he is so much fun and easy to access. You should take this class!
His grading criteria is clear. Do the work, attend the classes and take good notes. As long as you practice the material outside of class, you should be able to do well. It isn't a easy subject so attendance really matters because he covers a lot in class and gives great tips for you to do well. Would deff take again, Grade based on what you earn.
He is really a great professor. Super funny and cares about how the assignments. Love to have his students give feedback to other students before submitting assignment for the best grade possible
A crazy amount of assignments but they are all great for learning about teaching issues. Fantastic but demanding class!
He teaches really well and gives a lot of time in class to ask questions. he genuinely wants everybody in class to do well
I failed this class bad once before taking it with Mr. Good. He makes the math clear and not confusing and I was able to understand. He uses Deltamath for practice which is great to use to review for exams. Exams were tough but the practice helps and is similar to exam questions.
If you want to become a math teacher this is the only class you need to take! We learned about so many different things that math teachers must know and be prepared. There are soooo many assignments but they were all insightful and valuable. Take this class with him!
Excellent lectures and goes above and beyond to make sure all questions students have are answered. If theres an open spot in his class take it.
Take good notes in this class because Professor Good explains everything so well but the stuff he puts on the slides and board dont capture the way he explains everything. Not an easy A but you get what you earn.
A crazy amount of assignments but they all have been really helpful and relatively easy. Now that Im a teacher I am very grateful that I took this class with Professor Good because I have a Golden Folder of resources I use all the time. A+ professor
Why doesnt he teach precalc!!!! I loved his class and wish he taught other courses than 115. Take his class if its not full. The only students who did bad got what they deserved.
This guy was great! Never boring and actually makes math easier to understand. 5 star professor
Im about to graduate and this was my favorite class by far. This class definitely helped me understand what I should do to be a great math teacher. Only negative is he takes a long time to give grades back on assignments.
I just finished this class and loved it. Professor Good is the best!
This professor is good however he has his favorites and you can notice this after the 2-3 week in the class. Also grades everything the last day of the semester, When he grades it at the last day its so harsh. No test, no final but you have to work hard for your grade. He likes you to keep show that you care so much for this class and grade.
I have nothing to say that other people haven't said already. He's just a wonderful dude, a star in the math department. Take if you have the chance!
This was my favorite class and its because of Professor Good. Make sure you follow the instructions and submit work on time because he will take off a lot of points for being late or not following instructions. The assignments are excellent and I learned so much.
This was my second time taking this class and I wish I had Good the first time I wouldnt have failed. Dont miss class and do your work and you will have no regrets taking his class. I wish he taught 122 our whole class was begging him to.
Makes you work for it but the many assignments are informative and actually usefull in the future. Professor Good shared a lot important insight into teaching and working in schools.
I finally feel like math isnt a nightmare thanks to Professor Good.
Brilliant and creative guy. This class is teaching bootcamp.
Stop reading this and register for his class before it is full. Nuf said.
Lots lots lots of homework but you learn so much from all of it. There were so many creative things I learned about that I never saw before. I feel like this class prepared me to be a teacher more than any other courses I took.
Professor Good is a real gem. In this class you will be introduced to things you need to learn and what are the challenges you actually face when you teach math in a real classroom. Professor Good makes sure you will experience that through his various assignments. You wont have to learn math but learn how to be "best math teacher". THANK YOU PROF.
I didnt like the course but Mr Good made everything understandable and gave great resources that were really helpful for practice and learning. He is very tough with grading and expects you to show a every step in your work.
Professor Good has been a great mentor to me. I learned so much from him and he has always taken the time to help me succeed, not just in his class, but longterm. I like that he does not let students just get by. You have to work for your grade, but he will give you the tools to do so. My favorite college class so far.
I wish I took this class the first time with Professor Good! His class was my favorite so far and the one I feel that actually taught me how to be a great teacher. I definitely recommend taking his class.
Best professor ! I suck at math but I now know exactly how to teach any math topics because of Professor Good and his smart methods. Take this awesome class.
Hands down my favorite college class. I learned so much and got so many great resources to help me be a successful math teacher.
Just finished this class and loved it so much! I wish it didnt end but Im so happy I dont have to do any more assignmentsfeels like they would never end. Amazing professor
Wow this class was nonstop assignments but they all helped me understand how to be a great teacher. I had to learn how to use google slides and PowerPoint and find resources online to use in my classroom.
Professor Good gives great math lecture and always points out mistakes to avoid. Dont miss class and practice and you will be fine.
Excellent professor but he gives too many assignments. I did like the assignments but its a lot.
I took this class twice before and failed but finally passed thanks to professor Good. He breaks things down really well and makes it easier to understand. Quizzes on Deltamath were good but his exams are not easy and tricky so listen to things he says is tricky because it will be on the exams.
Great professor easy to understand and gives partial credit in exams but dont miss class or homeworks.
Great professor! Very easy to understand and stays after class to help.
So many assignments its too much! But I did love this class and wish I took Professor Good the first time.
Amazing class but DO NOT take it in the summer its too much work to do in a short time. The assignments were so helpful and I learned so much doing them but it was so much time to work on them.
Theres so much I leaned in this class that I will actually use when I am teaching, but its SO MUCH WORK.
The tests and quizzes were ok and similar to the homework but the final exam was a beast. Prof Good is a tough grader he expects you to show all of your work in order to get full credit but gives alot of partial credit.
Hes one of the best profs at QC. He helped me realize what a principal will expect from me. He truly cares about helping his students become great teachers. He gives a ridiculous amount of hw but he gives good grades if you complete the assignments correctly. He is a bit sarcastic but funny. Take him because the hard work is worth it.
I loved how professor good taught me how to be a math teacher and teach math instead of just teaching us math.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS unless you have lots of time to do internet research.
I struggled with some of the topics but Professor Good always answered any questions I asked. I wish he taught precalculus.
This class was very easy in the sense that none of the assignments were difficult but some of them just took a lot of time to complete. Excellent class I learned so much about teaching in general.
I have been a paraprofessional in the DOE for 14 years and Professor Good knows and teaches exactly what you need to be a good math teacher. Definitely take his class if you can.
I have always struggled in math, but this is the first time I have truly understood the topics. He is very understanding, accessible and nice.
