One of the easiest english classes I've ever taken, and he's available for help all the time. Pretty clear, if you need anything, just ask him, and there is a lot of textbook usage. Overall, great professor, however, attendance is crucial.

Going in I did not think I would like ENGL 101. However, Patrick is a very good professor, and makes the class engaging. He is responsive to the class, and allows for other opinions. You will need to think, which apparently can make your brain hurt, but you will learn a lot.

Awesome instructor. He's very attentive to his students needs and makes sure that everyone feels comfortable and respected. You're not allowed to miss more than 6 days but the class fun enough that you don't want to. Plus it doesn't hurt that he's extremely easy on the eyes. I'm pretty sure I'm getting an A. All in all, a really great person.

Josh was wonderful. I went into class dreading English and believing I would fail. He told me I am actually pretty good at it and not to worry. Everthing he taught was useful and was applied to my essays. Thank you so much for believing in my abilities.

Amazing teacher. You can tell he really what he does and he does not half ass it. He goes out of his way to make sure he's fair. He lets the students run the lecture by asking opinions and running off of that. Has a subtle but hilarious sense of humor. The class was not easy.

Joshua was an awesome instructor. He was at CCC for the two terms I took my writing class. I rufuse to take anymore writing classes at CCC unless Joshua comes back. I will travel to Clark . I enjoyed his class so much and his intrest and excitement in class turned that around. I won't spoil it by taking english from anyone else.

I have taken eng 101 many times. Patrick is by far THE BEST there is. He takes writing to a diff level that is interesting and very helpful. He's not hard at all. He will do whatever he can for you to succeed. I became a better writer and highly recommend him. His class is not hard and is an easy A if you do the work.

For a young teacher, he is by far one of the best there is at clark. He makes writing fun and interesting and opens your mind to view things from a different point of view to make you become a better writer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

At the start of term he gives tons of homework, but towards the middle he slows down a bit. he is real big on attendance so show up. He goes off on random subjects all the time but they are usually interesting/informative so I dont mind. This is a subject Im good at so to me it seems pretty easy. Show up do the work on time and you cant fail

Amazing class! One of the best prof's at Clark by far. He is so very passionate about what he does. He breaks down the 3 papers he assings through the homework he gives. I recomend the front of the class (He's so cute!) and actually showing up. Everything about his class is perfect. TAKE HIS CLASS! Honestly, his only downside is that he's married.

Fabulous. Best English teacher I have EVER had. I was dreading writing the English 102 paper but his class changed my mind. I learned SO much valuable information; I feel like I now know how to effectively research, write a good essay, and REVISE. I found out that our class was the first 102 class he's ever taught but he did amazing!

My last experience with an English class was ten years ago, when I flunked in high school, so I was nervous to say the least. Josh is really charismatic and his class was actually FUN! I was confused on the first paper, but by the end of the term I'd say my writing skills improved 300% and managed a B in the class. Also; he's terribly attractive

Let me first say that I despise English. I'm a terrible writer and get easily confused. However, Patrick was the perfect teacher for me. He is crystal clear in his teaching, is SUPER organized, and is willing to work with you on a individual basis! His class is fun and tho its a bit tough he gives you all the tools you need to succeed. 5 stars

Joshua is great! English has always been one of my favorite subjects and he just makes it more fun. He's enthusiastic about what he does and his concepts are simple and easy to understand. He never fails to make me smile during his class. If you want a fun 5 credit English class then take this class with Joshua!

He was a joy to listen to. He wasn't boring, and it was always fun to come to class. His assignments were not hard at all. They probably were more like busy work, but he rarely gave out homework. Most of the time you could finish your homework in class. I will totally have him for English 101 this Fall.

Nice guy but very difficult. pounds you with writing homework and writing packet assignments even during times when there is a major essay due. he is very strict for attendance, watches you and docs points if not paying absolute attention, no talking in class, and must raise hand to speak. I felt like I was back in the 3rd grade again.DON'T TAKE!

Patrick is a very nice guy, but as for me English is not my best subject, and Patrick offers alot of homework. Although his homework prepares you for the essays, its just too much. I recommend if your a brainiac and you enjoy writing be my guest and take him, but if your like me and English is not your best subject i recommend not taking him!!!

Professor Patrick is the BEST I've had at Clark. He is willing to help you succeed, he is one of those professors who won't let any student who is trying fail. I owe all my writing success to him, he pushed me to my full potential, unlike others. Never underestimate his offers for office hours, his one on one help priceless.

You have 3 Major Assignment papers during the course.Patrick goes over each paper for about two weeks helping you with all the aspects of the paper. Then you spend two days doing a workshop with a fellow student to help you see where you can improve. He is an awesome teacher. If you are lazy dont take him. want to be prepared for 102 then take him

He is a great teacher! I have taken him for English 098, English 101, and plan on taking him next quarter for English 102! He is very detailed and helpful! If you don't understand something he is there to help you! I'm glad I was lucky enough to get a great teacher like him!

Patrick is a fabulous teacher. He is very clear and organized; you know exactly what is expected of you on essays. He gives sample essays, which I like, and explains things very thoroughly. He also has a great, quirky sense of humor and a very easygoing manner. This isn't an easy A, and you will have to work hard, but Patrick makes it worth it.

If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class for you. But if you are looking for a quality with a quality teacher, I recommend this class.

Joshua Patrick is probably my favorite instructor in my entire experience as a student. Each class day is extremely focused and every piece of work is relevant to helping you improve as a writer/researcher. I wish he taught higher level English because I would take another class in a heartbeat.

He is a great teacher. He doesn't limit the class to a special book. He is full of energy and so helpful. He try his best to help everyone understand class materials, but not so easy in grades. If you want to try hard and learn a lot, he is the best instructor.

BEST Instructor! His class was so amazing that I wish he was teaching the higher level classes too! You will NEVER have an assignment that leaves you feeling lost. There are NO stupid questions. He's a great educator! I didn't really understand a lot of English concepts until I took his class. Being in his class was enjoyable. He gave us such interesting assignments and was fairly humorous which kept his class interested. He is a fair grader and is extremely helpful.

He is a great teacher! he is one of a kind. He used every bit of the class time for teaching and coaching. He handed out materials every meeting, and every one of them helped towards the objective of the class. He is very efficient and articulate. Everything he presented in the class guided you in completing your essay very strong!

My first year going back to college. Not only did he freshen my skills needed to write papers, he helped me anytime he could!!

He's really really kind and understandable. Like one time I got some answers wrong in the quiz and it was because of English isn't my first language, so I didn't understand the question, three days later he helped me to get it right.

I HIGHLY recommend Joshua for any class if he is the instructor. Very easy to understand and follow. If you're confused he's there to help no matter what. Not to mention his dorkyness and passion for English makes him a great teacher. Like I said, I HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for one of he best professors at Clark, he is one of them!

Great teacher and if you have questions or want extra feedback/help on an assignment he is more than happy to help. There were about 15 homework assignments that are all turned in at the end of the quarter and three major papers. I wish he tought 102 so I could take another of his classes!

He was my favorite last quarter. If you pay attention in class, read through his example major assignments, and do the homework packets, then you'll do pretty good in the class. In my opinion, is key is to PAY ATTENTION when he tells you what he expects and how to do a particular part of your paper. Just PAY ATTENTION. He was great. I got an A.

Josh is an awesome guy! He was super helpful with explaining things in multiple ways to make himself clear. Ask questions! He loves students who participate! He also gives good ideas on what to write about in your papers if you ask. Also there are only like three or four actual papers to write. The rest of the time is talking about what he expects.

Made me realize I could really push myself harder. There were 3 large essays along with reading assignments for every meeting. Lots of annotating and you need to be in class or you'll miss a lot. DONT LET THE DIFFICULTLY LEVELS DETER YOU. His class is fairly easy if you put in the work! Funny, very helpful, good feedback gives clear instruction.

Joshua is an excellent professor! He does a really good job at teaching the material in a clear way. He really wants his students to learn how to be good writers. A research paper was our final assignment and everything that he taught was applicable to writing our paper. He is very clear with expectations and criteria of assignments.

He is a caring & funny instructor. He gives good feedback on the 3 major assignments (they're difficult). There is no busy work- all the work he assigns will help prepare you for the major assignments so make sure to keep up with the writing packets & reading and you'll be fine. You must work hard for an A because he is a tough grader.

Incredible guy who really cares for teaching and his students. He makes sure to explain EVERYTHING. Prepares you for each essay so you wont be lost unless you skip class. Offers a few extra credit opportunities! Also will never make you speak up in class if youre shy and dont like being put on the spot, just tell him. Overall just a great guy!

He knows you're just there because it's required and he uses that knowledge to get into your head and make you actually care - you won't just drift through his class without thinking. He's funny, amiable and nice. Gives great feedback on your work, but makes you work for your A's.

Best English Professor! He is very caring and you can tell he loves what he does! He was really understanding of my life adversities and helped me so much throughout the Summer to make I understood what I needed to learn. I miss a week of class due to surgery and he help me pass! He explains well, and gives great feedback! I was truly inspired him!

Passionate about English. Compassionate about students. Generous with his time & feedback. Joshua includes everyone, who wants to be included; he tries to include those who don't. He teaches good semi-colon use (but I'm still not 100% sure). No text book, but there is a guidebook. I highly recommend choosing Joshua for your English learning needs.

Is fairly precise and blunt. Fairly no-nonsense, however is eager to help students be successful and makes sure the entire class is understanding what he is saying. "Comments, Questions, Concerns?" Heavily textbook based, reading highly recommended. Good teacher if also goal-oriented.

Professor Patrick is a fantastic professor. He really cares about each of his students. He also gives great feedback. This class is not super easy, but it is a reasonable difficulty. If you put in the effort, you will pass. I did not find his grading to be very harsh, and his grading criteria is very clear. I highly recommend taking this professor.

One of my favorite professors I took in Clark so far, super available, kind, and passionate about his job which shows in the class in a really positive way. The way the class is set up is super organized and clear. I recommend it to anyone who needs an English credit or wants to brush up on it.

The best professor if you aren't a huge fan of English. His class is laid out so well that you are destined to succeed if you do the work. He gives excellent feedback and responds to any questions within minutes almost. I enjoyed the class and didn't mind having to put in the effort.
