Great Professor. likes to talk off subject a lot but will get right back on task. ask him anything and he will answer plus he's really hot!!!!!
to be honest i'm not a science major, i'm a music major. I thought this class was going to kick my butt from the very beginning, but taking this professor has not only helped me learn so much stuff, but it's made me comfortable about it . also you would have to literally not show up to class or do nothing to fail the class, it is that simple.
I highly encourage anyone that's serious about the medical field to take Dr. Raynes. He's an actual MD with a Master's degree as well, and gives great lectures. Participate in class and in lectures and ask questions, you'll be rewarded. You have a doctor's brain to pick so use it to your advantage. No hw, only 4 tests and he drops the lowest.
Dr. Raynes is a great professor! I'm currently in his A&P 1 class and he explains everything in detail. He's willing to go over anything that is unclear and he answers any questions you may have. He responds quickly to texts/emails and he's also willing to help during his office hours. The material is very interesting! Make sure you read ahead (if you can) and listen to what he says during the lecture! Participate in the lecture and really use lab time to look at everything! I love that there's no homework, no quizzes! Just exams and participation. I've registered for his A&P 2 class already!
He is definitely a great professor! I am currently in his A&P 1 class and he's very laid back. Love him.
Decent professor,4 exams,4 practicals he drops 1 of the lowest test scores & you have to take the final. He gives no study guides for exams he says to use his power points. Just review them and you should do good. He also gives extra credit when he feels like it, hes very laid back. I would take him again, anatomy is not an easy A so have to study!
Good professor study hard and you'll pass
Professor Raynes is really passionate about the material he teaches. I had him for Human A&P1 and I would take him again. Doesn't count off for spelling but there are only 4 lecture tests and 4 practicals so make sure to study ALOT! He gives no homework only powerpoints and occasional extra credit for attendance, I found the lectures interesting (:
He's an amazing professor. He gives 4 tests and 4 practicals, no homework. If you study and pay attention in class you will be fine. Just show up to class and participate and study.
I had a&p1 over the summer, dropped it, got raynes and so glad I did. I heard other students talking about how difficult their prof were while I was studying in the science lab. Stay after class, ask questions. Forget buying the book he will help you. Say bye to your lostest test score.
Dr. Raynes is an amazing professor. His class is not necessarily an easy A, but if you read the textbook, read the power points daily, and participate, you should be more than capable of getting an A. I took Dr. Raynes for two years (first for A&P1 & then A&P 2), and he has a genuine care for his students and their success. Definitely recommend!!
He's a great professor! He explains everything important in detail and answers everyone's questions. He's available during office hours and responds quickly to any texts/emails. Just make sure to read, listen carefully and study for his exams!
Great Professor. Decided on a 4 because he hasn't stuck to the syllabus. PLUS, his syllabus is done by "week of class" instead of actual dates. Only grades are exams and practicals. I like that you don't have homework/busy work, but this means you have to do all the studying and handwork on your own. USE YOUR TEXTBOOK and the online Mastering Lab.
Test are hard. Ask a lot of questions. Go to office hours.
In the power points make sure to read bold words and study the slides for the test.
Great teacher. Makes time for you outside of class, patient and will make sure you understand the material. Very flexible as far as grading. Lecture heavy, studying is a must. I took him for 2 semesters and would def recommend him to anyone else.
Professor Raynes is an actual doctor so he knows his stuff. There is no homework. Just study a lot for tests. He is very funny and always curves.
He's a great teacher, works well with his students on what they want.. he's more about you getting your understanding than giving out bad grades as long as you studied because anatomy is all about studying... he will work with you and he's keeps you interested with his daily humour.
Lecture every class. Drops lowest test score. Very funny professor
I loved Dr. Raynes lectures, they were never boring. He's the type of teacher who is able to go off subject while still teaching the material. He has a great sense of humor. As long as you pay attention and take notes, you will easily make an A in his class. He is very laid back and he's not bad to look at which is also a plus. Win/win!
Great professor extremely knowledgeable! Pretty straight forward class. Study you pass, you don't you fail. You sort of pick what you want to do. He is always open to help when something may be to difficult. ASK QUESTIONS!
One of the best Professor he makes attainable to pass , very informative. Would highly recommend him
Loved this class. He's funny, laid back, but still gets through a bunch of information in the semester. Worth it.
Professor Raynes was an okay professor. His tests were hard and sometimes it would have stuff he told us not to worry about. make sure he knows your name and your face so that when test time comes he'll be more lineament with your grade. participate in class, ask questions, he loves going off topic.
Excellent professor. His lectures are engaging, you are not going to get bored in his class. Take him if you can! you have to really study, but he will help you. We only had 4 test. No homework and the labs were very easy. Try to study before every lecture and after class and you will do fine. HE IS THE BEST!
-Randomly moved tests up by a WEEK at a time, so you had less than a week to study. -Never passed tests back out for review, have to go to his office to see what you missed. -Only study advice was to review his powerpoints, that weren't always updated to the one he presented. -Unfair class treatment: others received takehome tests, not our class.
Can only see tests during office hours, only study advice is to review powerpoint, lab book was suppose to be "extra credit" then he graded every page during our final exam. Me and 5 other students are going to take ANP2 at a Deerwood, because Raynes is supposedly the "best" ANP instructor at south and none of us liked his teaching style.
Let me start by saying I feel like I was miss lead by the reviews. My experience with professor Raynes is cool and keeps his lectures fun. However, that's where it ends. There is no structure what so ever and he expects you to memorize power points and gives you NO outline on what to study. He's a smart guy, just a bad teacher and is always late.
I went into this course thinking that it would be fun and enjoyable with this professor. Much like others stated, there is no structure and the exams are brutal. It's extremely difficult to complete exams because you are told to only study Powerpoints but there are questions not answered by the Powerpoints. Nice guy, but this class was terrible.
He is a great professor! Is super fun to listen to. Hes also a dr so he has tons of experience and knowledge of the things he is teaching. Has 4 exams and practicals but drops the lowest one. And the final is only worth 10%
This professor had 4 exams and 4 practicals which were the only grades he put in so be careful and make sure to do really good on those. Exams pretty hard but all of them were take home.
I really liked Dr. Raynes because he really knew the material and his lectures were always funny. Attendance is not mandatory but he pays attention to the people who show up. 4 tests that we ended up taking online along with 4 practicals and then a final exam. He gives extra credit too. Super hot
I've taken Doctor Raynes for Anatomy 1&2 and I recommend him for anyone taking anatomy. Very lecture heavy, there are 4 exams and 4 practicals no quizzes or homework. Good thing is he drops the lowest exam or practical, but only one practical or exam not from both categories. Study hard and you'll pass!
He is a very good professor ,who helps a student and make the class easy.
Professor Raynes has been one of my favorite professors so far and I plan on taking him again for his microbiology class. He makes the lectures interesting and to the point. His tests are not difficult as long as you pay attention in class and study the power points. I am 100% recommending him for any nursing students or anyone going into medical!
Great professor! He is passionate about what he teaches and is always available for questions regarding the material. He also gives you a reality insight on real life medical experiences. I have had Professor Raynes for A&P 1 and A&P 2 I can definitely say i have learned a lot from Professor Rayens and would recommend him to anyone . The Best!
He is one of the best professor that I have taken ever! How to pass? YOU HAVE TO STUDY AND SHOW UP FOR CLASS. Honestly what do you expect this is a Science class!! Anybody can pass if they do the work and do not expect everything to be handed to them. You get what you put in, as simple as that. I studied he's slides supper helpful and textbook.
Great Professor, straight to the point. Do not miss class, No homework , Must study to pass!
I've had Dr. Raynes as a professor now for a year. I took him for A&P I and II, as well as Micro. He is one of my favorite Professor's I've had in my college education. He is a helpful, understanding, and an awesome guy. These science classes are not easy, and Dr. Raynes really makes an effort to try and teach as simple as he can. Learned a lot!
No homework, no quizzes, no attendance policy. Fill out the majority of your lab book and you're good on participation. 4 lecture exams, 4 lab exams, and one final. Good guy, makes lecture interesting.
Dr. Raynes is incredible. I took this class twice, on my first day of class my jaw was instantly dropped. He teaches the material to where anyone can understand it. You don't really need the textbook in less you want to research more. Go to class he tells you what to know for the exam. I'll be taking him for A&P2, and micro!
Professor Raynes genuinely cares about the success of his students. He keeps you engaged during every lecture (great sense of humor). His courses usually are composed of 4 lecture tests & practicals along with participation grade. If you study his lectures and ask questions you will be fine! I would recommend him 100%.
Great professor for A&P II. Be present in class and in lab so he can get to know you. Interesting lectures. Take all opportunities for extra credit! There are no homework assignments or quizzes.
If I needed more pre-reqs in science I'd take Dr. Raynes again, no contest. His personal anecdotes and sarcasm make learning the tough material more comprehensive & relatable. Being in class makes the difference in understanding the material and you're grade is based on exams & participation. Study and you'll pass! Added plus, he's nice to look at.
Great professor, he's very clear on how you can pass the class. Very easy to understand and if you have any questions he will answer them in a very easy way to understand. This class consists of 4 lecture and 4 practical exams which are not hard to pass. Recommend 100%
Anatomy is a hard class, so anatomy 2 is even harder. Show up to class, study and take your time seriously and youll pass.
I really enjoyed class with Professor Raynes. He clearly presents the material and makes it easy to understand. He truly desires for his students to understand and pass the class, A&P is a difficult course, but I learned so much from him. He simplifies material by giving really good examples and makes sure everyone understands before moving on.
He is a very caring professor. He has four tests and drops your lowest test or practical grade.
Easy going professor answers any questions you have. Not a ton of homework
Great professor. Explains each section of the chapters in a way that everyone can understand.
He's a great teacher and absolutely hilarious! If you show him that you care about the class and study hard he will like you. Be prepared to study on your own.. study groups are a good idea.
Professor Raynes is awesome! He is hilarious and caring , he gives out great lectures and helps you with whatever you need help on! No homework , only four test and he will drop the lowest grade ! You also get to do a lot of team work on labs
I took Dr. Raynes for A&P I. I will take him for A&P II. Lots of powerpoints. Tests are not easy. BUT, if you are going into the medical field you want this professor; you will learn. Dr. Raynes is knowledgeable and full of info. He is easy to approach and understands work-life-school balance. Do your lab book and participate in class!
Lectures are very interesting and is willing to converse about anything medically. Is very funny and laid back. All take home exams except the Final. Only requirement is the Lab book completed. Only thing that would make it perfect would be a clear-cut study guide, but the power-point works very well (shared on Blackboard).
Dr. Raynes is a wonderful professor when it comes to anatomy and physiology. His lectures are very knowledgeable and have helped me better understand the topics. I highly recommend him if you are going on medical field and willing to learn. The exams are not easy but you get to take three at home and the final at class and drops the lowest one.
Dr Raynes is an awesome professor an really breakes everything down for you to understand. As lon as you do the work and show up yo get an A. Definitely would take him again. Well recommended.
Excellent professor that makes class enjoyable. Treats you as an adult and expects you to take personal responsibility for your grade.
STOP LOOKING! TAKE HIM! Best AP professor ever! Took him for both AP1 & 2. Exams are tough but his lectures prepare you for his exams. You wont regret taking him!!!!
Knowledgeable of the material, enjoys his work. Pleasant and patient. You will learn the material.
Professor Raynes is a great professor for ADULTS. If you find it difficult to talk about the human anatomy because you find discomfort within yourself, then this is not the professor for you. Be prepared to study and use your brain. No homework, but you must study and work hard. Definitely a professor to take again. :)
Professor Raynes is by far one of the best professors I have ever taken. He brings a real world element to Anatomy and Physiology that you will not get from another professor. He doesnt assign homework or give quizzes and you have to study. Show up to class is very important, his lectures are amazing and he is hilarious. Study, participatepass
one of the best anatomy teachers I've ever had, his lectures are very informing and he makes the class very fun, will definitely be taking him for anatomy 2 as well!
Hes an good teacher, very funny. Makes class interesting and worth coming too. Get 4 test no quizzes or homework. Extra credit is offered a lot! Test are kinda hard definitely will have to study hard and know what your doing.
makes going to class fun, gives good lectures and is very knowledgeable. There are 4 tests and as long as you study, you'll pass.
I loved this class! Lectures were great and really helped with his tests. While attendance isnt mandatory, his lectures help understand what is coming in the tests and showing up to class will help your overall grade. Very caring professor, offers extra credit. If you put forth the effort you should do great in the class!
Dr. Raynes is the best. He makes class fun, his lectures though long aren't boring. I would definitely take him for another class. He is the best.
Dr. Raynes is a great professor, not my type of teaching style but he definitely gives you all the material for the exam. There is no homework, no quizzes, only exams and your lab book that will be graded. You'll have 4 exams and extra credit is offered. This class will not be the easiest so make sure you are up to pace.
He is a very funny, down to Earth teacher. He gives PowerPoints for you to study off of and explains them in class. You are graded on tests only, so no homework or quizzes. Make sure tostudy hard because you have to work for the grade you recieve. But overall he is a good teacher.
Dr Raynes was a good professor and his lectures were really interesting. In terms of exams, his ppts were really useful but I found studying them on my own just as helpful as class. You dont need the book if you print his ppts and use online resources. What was expected of you was really straight forward, and some exams ended up being online
He is an actual doctor so pick his brain. He entwines his lectures with real life interesting details. He encourages you to learn and challenge yourself and him. He is a bit intimating because he is so smart, interesting and very nice to look at(just a bit skinny) :) He makes you want to learn from him. He really should be a full time professor.
I've taken Professor Raynes for AP1 and AP2. He works in the ER and incorporates his knowledge into the lecture to make it more interesting. He's straight forward with what you need to know and tries to help you as much as he can. He's very understanding with his grading curves and sometimes allows the tests to be take home!
Theres 4 exams, 4 practicals. Your lowest score gets dropped and you get a few extra credit points for doing small things.
I deeply enjoyed Dr. Raynes AP1 class, I took a 12 week course in which we had to cram a lot of material in but I did not feel overwhelmed at any point. He makes the lectures very entertaining . His power points are all you need (don't purchase textbook until you attend class, he will advise if necessary, it was not) and all 4 test were take home!
Great professor. Uses real life situations to keep lectures interesting and relatable. No homework, just 4 lecture exams, 4 practical exams , a cumulative final and lab book. Lecture and practical exams are all take home and final is in class. I will definitely be taking him for AP 2!!
He is the best professor I have had. I took this course as a 12 week, so we crammed a lot but I was able to master the material. No homework, all exams and practical's were take home, final was in class. He will explain anything you ask and loves questions. No book needed, his power points go over everything and are accessible. Definitely recommend
Great teacher! 10/10 would recommend
Professor Raynes is a great teacher. I wish I would of taken him for A&P 1. He gives 4 test, 4 practicals and 1 final. DO THE LAB NOTEBOOK!!! the lab book counts as a participation grade and very easy to do. His class is very enjoyable and worth taking. Getting the textbook will help on test.
Class is basically lectures but arent too long. Make sure to study lecture slides well if you wanna pass the exams. Hes really funny and is easygoing.
He loves what he teaches 4 take home exams, I would take his class again
He is a great professor, approachable and helpful. He will not overwhelm you with material but makes sure you retain what has time to present. The class was lectures twice a week with a lab at the end of every week. If you had any questions outside of class he was easy to reach. Would definitely recommend his class.
Make sure to do you lab manual it counts for you participation grade at the end of the semester. Also study the lecture notes if you wanna pass the class. Hes super funny and is willing to answer questions.
Great lectures, answers all questions. Take notes, review all lecture slides and you should pass. Test are difficult but passable.
Ive taken A&P 1&2 with him and hes a great professor. Theres 4 exams and a final and those are the only grades. Lots of useful info on the powerpoints and a great lecturer always keeps it interesting and relates it to the real world. All around great guy, funny and makes this class easy and fun 10/10 would def recommend
This was my first semester with professor Raynes and i really enjoyed his class. His lectures were very interesting and full of information which allowed me to stay engaged. He is a cool guy and he makes learning about the bodys anatomy and physiology fun.
Took this professor for both A&P 1 and 2. He uses real life scenarios to teach with and keeps the class fun and interesting. I loved this class and he made it easy to understand and pass! Respect this teacher and would take him again if I could! 4 exams all easy if you study
My favorite science professor ever!!! Anatomy and Physiology is so much easier taking him. Plus he is !!
He's pretty great, will help if asked and will over things with you.
Dr. Raynes is a one of a kind teacher. He makes connections between real life scenarios and lecture material which really helps you grasp the concept. He is very approachable and more than happy to further explain anything that may be challenging. He really knows his stuff. Exams/practicals are based off of his lectures; show up ready to learn!
I am not someone who is good at science at all. When I'm in a science class I feel like I'm learning a whole different language. That's not the case when I was in Dr. Raynes class! His lectures are very bearable and he's a very easygoing professor. There was 4 test and a final. I highly recommend him. I'll be taking him again for microbiology.
Pretty awesome professor if I have to be honest. Way better than my professor for A&P 1, I actually learned how to use the microscope and how to examine slides in Professor Raynes coarse. Funny person here and there. Study, come to class, and you'll do fine. Overall satisfied with his class. I would totally recommend to take him. Would take again.
Doc Raynes is awesome. He's straight forward with what he wants you to know and doesn't spend countless hours lecturing on useless things you'll never need or use. I wish I had taken him for AP 1.
Dr. Raynes is by far my favorite professor that Ive had at FSCJ. He gives 4 tests and 4 practicals and then the final. Extra credit can be earned by donating blood. Since he is a practicing doctor at UF Shans, he brings personal stories to the lectures and is hilarious. Also, I was never in that class longer than an hour and a half!
I had Professor Raynes for AP1 in the fall and was so impressed with his teaching abilities that I sacrificed 6 hours of pay at work just so I could take his 1pm AP2 class. He teaches in a way that makes the class interesting and fun to learn. I highly recommend him for any of the classes that he teaches.
He writes his own tests, so don't expect to use quilt. The tests are difficult but not impossible. Very friendly and allows you to work in groups so if you miss a few classes you can ask your group what the lab was for t he day. He is very down to earth and understanding. AND GIVES MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXTRA CREDIT SO ASK!
Took him for Bio 1 during summer. Awesome teacher, funny and interactive lectures followed by Labs every week. Only homework was doing the lab reports. Take home tests. Would 100% take for bio 2 if he teaches it.
Dr. Rayne is very knowledgeable professor. His lectures can be quite lengthy if your taking his hybrid class but he makes the information interesting and fun at the same time! His test are challenging because he writes them himself but definitely do-able! Take him for biology, you wont regret it!
I enjoyed the way Professor Raynes lectures the class. He tries his best to help students understand the material. The lectures are never boring. The exams are take home but they are not easy. I am taking his A&P class next semester.
Fun lectures and fun personality professor. Tests were difficult but open note.
Nice guy, but far too intelligent to teach. Lectures are extremely difficult to keep up with and nothing is broken down for you. He claims that you'll never see a test question that is not on the slides, but that's absolutely false. Tests are take home, but prepare to spent 5+ hours on it. If you're a straight A student, prepare for a B.
Professor Raynes is the absolute best! If you can manage to get into his class before its full, do it!!! His lectures are awesome, hes super helpful, and he has an awesome way of relating everything to the medical field.
Dr. Raynes is one of the best professors Ive ever had. Very knowledgeable and doesnt mind answering questions. The exams are difficult, but everything is covered in the power points, and lectures. He is upfront and very clear of what is expected. He also gives extra credit. Took him for AP1 and Micro. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Dr Raynes is by far the best professor Ive had here in Florida. You will find yourself wanting to go due to his personality alone. No homework. He grades his entire course on tests alone. However, if your lucky, you will get a semester with lots of take home tests. Dont expect to use quizlets though, because he writes all his own exams.
Professor Raynes was not bad at all. I do not have my final grade, but it looks like i'll be passing w/a B from what i have so far. Work load is not a lot just 4 exams,4 labs and 2 in class labs. You can take his class w/other classes and not be stressed out.
Professor Raynes is the best AP1 teacher hands down he is very intelligent , and he knows what he is teaching, most of the test are open book and you get to use any notes , PowerPoint slides to help you take your test ! So its impossible to not pass ! Attendance is not required but, I would not miss a class if you could help it !
I cannot recommend Professor Raynes enough. He is the only professor I would take for Human A&P. His lecture are down to earth and interesting. He presents the learning material in a way that is easy to understand. He relates a lot of the subject matter to the medical field. All he demands is that you show up to class and learn.
Takes forever to grade
Dr. Raynes is awesome! I took his Anatomy 1 class over the summer, and I enjoyed his class so much I immediately signed up to have him this semester for Anatomy 2. He is an MD so he definitely knows the material and he makes it easy to understand.
His straightforward answers really guided the understanding of this course. Kind and understanding, he solved our issues and held a responsibility on the class to read the material and powerpoints , I highly recommend Professor Raynes to future students, it was an oustanding class.
Amazing professor! Take him, seriously. Super helpful, genuinely caring and also funny, which kept lecture from being too boring. Anatomy is not exactly exciting. A few extra credit opportunities and most importantly, no busy work! No HW, no quizzes. Responds quickly. No book required but I do suggest using outside sources, not just his slides.
Great professor. His lectures are thorough and he explains things in a way you can understand. Exams were all take home and our final was in class. Even though exams were take home the questions weren't simple, but I personally learned the material better having to search for the answer. Only issue is he doesnt give any feedback on graded exams.
Dr. Raynes is hands down the best professor you could come across at FSCJ! His focus is geared towards making sure the students learn the material rather than just passing the tests. Participate in lectures, take notes, and there wont be a reason why you dont pass the class with a solid A. Take at home tests, extra credit & informative lectures.
Unique experience, he made it fun and educational.
Hes great very energetic nice and passionate about his teaching
