He is a very helpful teacher. He was always available to stay after class and offer extra help. During class he was also always open to my comments. I give him an A rating because I appreciate English a little more now.

Wonderful teacher. The most engaging professor I've ever had. You must, I repeat MUST stay on top of the readings. If you can manage that you'll be fine. Many people complained about their grades on the essays, but I think he grades very fairly. Class discussions are extremely fun, funny and enlightening. I highly recommend this teacher!!!

Josh Roberts Was a great teacher. His class was complicated but I learned a lot. I did get a C. He was funny and kept the class's attention. He even offered to help students outside of class in the library. Very nice man. He also made me laugh. Deffinately not a prude.

Very good teacher. He loves english and it shows in his teaching. He gives clear and informative lectures but never drags on. He has challenging assignments and essay prompts but grades them very fairly. Take His Class!

Josh Is an awsome teacher an will spark your imagination and teach you how to truly write. He has no notes for his class and teaches from the heart. He is easily understood and keeps the class captivated. Although, he is an amazing teacher I don't recommend him for people struggling in English because he is an extremly hard grader. Follow the rubric and you are sure to get a "C" grade, or above. He is passionate about what he does, funny, helpful, and smart. He absolutly knows what he is talking about. Says he has offered to meet students out of class, which was weird yet nice. If you actually try you will not get below a C.

Roberts is a good teacher. He's very smart and knows what he's talking about; he explains what needs to be done very well. The assignments are challenging butfor sure you will learn from them! I got an A in his class so that means it wasn;t too bad.

Mr. Roberts is one of the coolest english teachers! Sure, you have to be able to take his class and pass but he makes it very interesting.

This class is really hard but you learn how to write. It's one of those classes you actually learn in, what a concept! Roberts is hella cool and helps out during any and all of his free time. He's super dedicated to his students and our success. He'll do anything to help but expect a TON of work. All the essays are designed to make you stretch.

This class was fun and difficult, but worth it. Homework, way too much. He is a great teacher and enjoys what he is doing. Be prepared to be smothered and choked with homework and have fun.

Grades really hard on essays, but even if you get a couples F's on them it's possible to get an A in the class with the portfolio option. He's very approachable and wants you to pass his class. But don't take this class if you can't do hw, he assigns a lot of easy readings and expects everything to be typed.

I highly recommend you take his class. Roberts is very helpful and his peer editing sessions are very useful. There is hwk aside from essays but its not too hard. His essay topics are very interesting. He grades kinda hard, but he offers a portfolio option. The class is easy to pass but you have to really work for the A.

Nice guy. Good sense of humor. Almost everyday we just talked about arguments in articles students brought in and that was about the entire class period. It was actually kinda fun for being in an english class. Essays are all argumentative. Just think of interesting topicsto argue and be a decent writer and you'll get by easy. Homework is easy too.

He was the best teacher. He made you think outside the box and then made you write to get back into the box. He was able to keep me interested in his lectures. I reaped the most from his class then all of my other english classes before. I highly recommend him!!!

let's say enjoy him, for once you transfer to another school you'll never have a hot awesome teacher like josh. youve gotta love him.he knows what he's talking about, he'll help you as much as anyone can, and then when you have a broken heart you can always go and talk to him he wants to be your friend so let him be. he loves golf and coffee. :)

Roberts was definitely the best English teacher I have ever had. I took his class the semester I graduated high school where I had terrible English teachers for three years straight. My grade on his essays started with one B and after that I got all A's. After taking his class essay writing was much easier for me.

He believes that if he assigns a certain topic for us to write about, chances are some of us aren't gonna be interested in that topic and that our essay will be boring, so he allows room for freedom&creativity in our essays. My writing has improved so much taking him as a professor, and I look forward to taking his 302 hybrid class in spring of 09

Prof Roberts was one of the best professors ive had at City. Extremely helpful, inside and outside the classroom. He is enthusiastic about what he teaches, and to whom hes teacing it. I highly reccomend him for anyone who wants a prof. who is willing to make the classroom both fun and interesting.

Great English teacher ever! I took this class in the summer because I hated writing, now I can tolerate it. I enjoyed going to class because we always had class discussions that were not boring at all. Very Funny guy and helpful.

a lot more work than 300 but prof roberts is the best. he is really helpful and helps you become a better writer. his peer edit sessions are really helpful and his essay topics are pretty open ended. i definitely recommend this prof. the class is a lot of work, but as long as you are willing to put in the effort you will do well.

took the online summer coarse. lots of feedback from professor and peers so its real helpful. you get some interesting stuff from the text too.

He was a great teacher in the beginning for english 40. Later I'd taken him for 100 and he didn't get those essays back in time for students to regroup on change if needed. He didn't talk about what we needed to do to get that A. Sad. Better luck next time, not with him though

Great teacher! He let us have some say in which works and authors we covered. We did have to read 4 or 5 novels, and he would quiz us on them, but I learned a lot more that way. The quizzes were sometimes confusing, but I still managed to get an A in the class. We also had to write 2 or 3 essays. He leads discussions very well.

Great Professor. Responds quickly. Would have liked more feedback on rough drafts before submitting final essay's.

I took his ENGWR 300 online class. It was a lot of work, but as long as you stay on top of your work you'll be just fine. He is a great, fair teacher. Requires you to do 250 writing response to articles/short stories and must respond to three students' writings. Write 4 essays. RECOMMENDED!

Roberts is the best Prof.I have had in college.Not only has taking his Eng300 and Eng301 class been extremely helpful in almost every class i have taken but also he has helped me improve my writing and gave me the confidence I need to finish college.I can honestly say I walked out of every class last semester with more knowledge than i started with

This prof is one of the most helpful and informative for ENG at SCC. Responds to students emails quickly either from his Iphone or Computer. I took this class Online last summer so it was very fast paced and a severe strain, I definitely recommend this prof. A lot of reading and he requires a lot of work, but great prof.

I have never really taken great interest in English courses; it has always come easy to me, and I never felt like I was actually learning. Mr. Roberts has thoroughly changed that! He is an excellent online instructor. We have three deadlines a week to help people stay on track, and the work is only as hard as it needs to be. GREAT teacher.

Took ENGWR 300 Online. This level of writing is not easy if you're looking for an A, but it is doable. His class makes you a better writer if you put in the time & effort. 5 papers - one's like a 10-pg or so research paper. He lets you correct one paper at end of the semest. & you keep the better grade of the 2.

Prof. Roberts is a great teacher, I took him for engwr 101, the class was super easy and he genuinely wants all of his students to pass. He is also very helpful!

Professor Roberts is one of the most enjoyable and engaging professors I've had thus far. He's easy-going, smart, funny, and well-spoken. He listens well to his students and treats them respectfully. He has interesting stories to tell and is very open to your stories as well. He is very communicative :)

If you have the opportunity to take this class, take it. I have always hated English and Professor Roberts made English enjoyable. I took his online class and his lectures were very clear and if there were any issues, he was quick to respond to an email or discussion post.

The only thing I don't like about the teacher is that he is a slow grader but he has a very busy life. Class is always fun. Assignments are not overwhelming. We write only about 4-5 essays read a book and discussed and had easy quizzes. just do your work and show up and you will get a decent grade. interesting teacher makes English fun

First there are weekly deadlines so meet them. There are assignments so do them. It's a great class but hard work. He is fair but honest. You get to constructively critique classmates so be honest, but not brutal. Online can be more challenging, so keep to the schedule and you can do this. I got an A. I earned it. Not too shabby!

I had Prof. Robert EngWr101 Fall 2014 and i learned so much through this class. He's very communicative and helpful. If you email him, he's always prompt on replying back within that day. It was alot of work, but so worth it! He teaches and gives life-story beyond what is learned for English. I really recommend him. Plus he's Hot! well, i think so.

This class was wonderful and challenging. I had him last semester. Prof. Roberts is really clear on the assignments and goes over them as well. He is an exceptional professor, down to earth, personable, and helpful. He gives you an amazing lecture; you can never be bored. He is also quite handsome. I am taking his online 300 class and he is great!

He's a friendly professor who gives very good feedback. I would probably take him again. His choice of readings were a bit much though.

I loved him. He gives great, thorough feedback on essays, and gives you plenty of leeway with the prompts. He clearly loves the subject he's teaching, which encouraged me to be even more enthusiastic about it. His grading is fair, and he respects all student opinions. I literally can't think of a single flaw in his teaching.

I highly recommend taking any of Professor Roberts courses. Hands down one of the better professors on campus.

Great class, great teacher. He gets involved in the work, tests are just on video lectures that are usually no more than 30 mins long and he addresses things in the discussion boards (posts, comments, etc.) There is a lot of reading, but it's all worth it if you're looking to step up your writing skills. Pieces of homework due 3x a week.

Online Class. Great teacher. He is very helpful and wants the students to learn and not just by pass the class. The online course requires you to participate during the week. In addition, you will have another site to do lecture. Complete everything on time. No extensions unless his schedule is compromised and there is no extra credit.

Great Professor! He truly does care about his students. He wants you to learn and not just slide on through. Weekly Discussion Board Participation. Do your homework. 3-4 Essays in the online class. Gives great feedback and responds to emails in 1-3 days.

Roberts is truly a professor with a passion and purpose in teaching. Just being in class and hearing what he has to say during lectures (which are more like class discussions) makes the class worthwhile because he has such valuable insights. Works tirelessly to give constructive feedback on each part of each essay submitted. Would take again!

Professor Roberts is an amazing professor! He really cares and wants his students to succeed. He always made himself available when I needed help. Because this was an online class, he would help me with my essays through Skype which makes it super convenient too! He gives great feedback videos for each essay and is very clear on what he looks for.

If you are undecided between who to take to satisfy the English requirement, look no further! Take Professor Roberts. Seriously, just do it. He assigns a lot of reading, but I took him in the summer and everything was so clear. He tells you what he expects and his lectures are really short (like 15 min or less). You won't regret it!

I took this class during the summer so there was a lot of work for a 6-week class. However, I found his grading to be a little easier than other English professors I've had. Tries to make the lectures fun, has a clear grading scale, and the due dates and assignments are clear. I'm not strongest in English lit but liked this class & recommend!

Professor Roberts was an excellent teacher, I'm so glad I chose to take his class. He gives a lot of work but if you keep up with it and don't slack off there's no way you shouldn't pass. I took it spring 2017. Definitely do all of the reading, it helps a lot.

I took Roberts Fall 2016. My first online class. I found his video lectures short and to the point. Kind of funny. Must do discussions. Easy quizzes. Great feedback on essays. Easy to contact and clear grading criteria. There are a few essays, but he gives you the time. Just don't slack off and you'll be fine.

I took this prof for english writing 300 and 302, both online. Only 4 essays for online classes, lectures are interesting and kind of funny, workload is somewhere in the middle, but manageable and def passable with an A. Take him, you will learn a lot from this class. He has an essay revision option as a final for the class.

He is a harsh grader, but you learn a lot in his class. I wish he could be a little more lenient or have drafts that he could read, so we can prepare for our final drafts better.

Professor Roberts is an awesome instructor. He's the only online instructor I've had who provides video feedback for essays and is very detailed in explaining why you've earned your grade. But there's a lot of work with mandatory discussion posts (1 thread, 3 comments) and a few assignments from the text due each week added on top of 4 essays.

Even though it was an online class, his personality still shined through. The assignment schedules were constant, which made it easier to keep up with online work. We also had to do online video discussions for my class specifically, which was very anxiety-inducing but as long as you participated even a little bit, you got full credit.

Roberts is a great professor. He is very funny and truly cares for his students. He is pretty understanding with students' lives outside of class. There is a ton of homework and I felt as if some assignments were unnecessary. It seemed just like busy work at times.

Mr. Roberts is a great professor! His class is always interesting and engaging. There was a lot of homework, a total of 4 essays, and one final presentation which was not graded. If you want a good grade you definitely should visit his office hours. Overall, positive experience.

Roberts is a great Professor but makes you work for your grade. Im an English major and have no trouble passing with As. I received a high B in his lit 320 class and a low b for this class. His class is well organized and hes easy to reach. Even though hes a tough grader I would recommend him and take him again.

Roberts changed my life. I took ENGWR 488 & 482, and he shaped my future by turning me into the best writer I can be. Very accessible and always responds to emails, takes time with you during office hours, and will absolutely inspire you. But you have to work for it. He deserves hard working students and is plagued by lazy ones. Get on his level.

I took this class in the Fall 2019. The essay assignments were manageable. The online discussions were in full swing as there were a lot of students taking this course. Kudos to Professor Roberts for taking the time to review each essay via docu cam & provided feedback each time. The final essay revision project is a win, win. My grade was an A+.

He cares for students, throughly explains everything, tech savvy, gives productive feedback on essays, replies to emails FAST, hes one of the best teachers Ive ever had in college. Hes an inspiring teacher, clear on his lessons and works very hard to make it easier for students to pass. Unlike some profs, he WANTS us to succeed!

Took the class online, he's a cool professor. I only say mandatory textbook because you HAVE to read, but honestly, he tells you the stories and you can just look up the stories yourself. I liked the stories but quite a few you'll read in other lit classes or other English classes.

I have taken Professor Roberts for multiple classes, and I hope to take any future classes I can get with him. He is a great Professor who is realistic with his expectation and is very flexible if needed. He does have a clear grading system for his papers and he sticks to it, so the grades aren't necessarily easy to get, but he's fair.

I took ENGWR 300 with Professor Roberts and enjoyed his teaching style so much I took his ENGWR 303 class in the summer. The structure he uses for his classes is easy to follow and he is very clear when giving his lectures. He gives in-depth feedback and really cares about his student's success I would highly recommend taking any of his classes!

Super easy class, not many assignments to do but when there are make sure to do them. They're really easy assignments that take about 15 minutes each.

Hes great, if you have any issues with the assignments as long as you communicate he works with you. My class was online and although there was a lot of homework it wasnt very difficult. He also provided many tools when writing our essays.

I had him for 300 and 301. Both were pretty easy classes. He usually has discussion boards every week, except when you have an essay due. Essays count for majority of your grade, only 3 due for each class. He allows you to send them to him early so he can let you know if it will earn a passing grade. He's good with communication and feedback.

i took his 6 week summer course & i loved it! pieces we read were awesome and as an english major i've seen them come up in other classes, which helped me so much! i improved as a writer so much during this course! prof. roberts is pretty laidback, helpful and easy to communicate with! leaves good feedback as well!

Professor Roberts is one of the best professors that I have ever had. There were extenuating circumstances that prevented me from completing his class on time, and he was very accommodating. He is enthusiastic about teaching and provides excellent feedback. I gained a lot of confidence in my writing abilities after taking his class.

He is very responsive and replies to emails quickly, as well as has a flexible schedule to meet with you whenever is most convenient (even on a Saturday!) He makes the essays easy by breaking them up into weekly assignments so that by the time the essay is due, you already have a full rough draft. Do the homework and it's an easy A class.

Good professor, he cares about students and he is willing to work with you for whatever you need. He is pretty available through email and he will respond to you fairly quickly. Overall a great professor who wants students to do good.

Professor. Roberts was a great professor and you can tell he is very passionate about the English subject! While there is quite an amount of reading for homework each week, it's very doable and never too stressful. His essays are also very clear and also give you some creative freedom! He is not a harsh grader so take his class if it's available.

The work was repetitive at times, but this was still one of the most fun classes I've taken. You can write your (4 total) essays with basically any topic, recieve actual useful feedback, and get a super quick response if you reach out with a question. I would recommend this professor to anyone that likes reading, writing, and English overall!

A very good English class that focuses on persuasion. He provides a unique perspective on the use of language and argumentation. 70% of your grade comes from 4 essays, so prioritize them. Each is 4 pages long, using a different "model", the topic is your choice. I didn't find him to be a strict grader and he seemed to really care for all students.
