Sauvie is a lot of fun & keeps class interesting. You'll laugh, you'll learn... You'll actually want to go to class. He's pretty easy-going, but make sure you read the assignments because he loves pop quizzes. Likes: Radiohead, YouTube, babies. Dislikes: Country music, corporate greed, meat. Coolest teacher at Mott, and maybe in the whole universe.

This professor made it interesrting for me by not using the usual teaching procedures. This class was interesting and funny he is a very cool instructor that brings the world to your attention in a different way than we see it everyday.

I thought the class was extemely thought proking and interesting. I was out of school for awhile and he made it easy for me to not feel out of place. I also thought most of his jokes were funny!

Even though I did not complete his class I still would recomend it to anyone who takes engligh 102. He give you plenty of time for your assingments and is very understanding. He keeps the class fullof energy, its worth it!

I've been going to college for two years now, and Josh Sauvie is still my favorite teacher. He presented the material in a way that was fun, understandable, and relatable. He was a fantastic teacher, and I would definitely recommend him to freshman for a first teacher. Heck, even as an upper classman, they could appreciate his teaching style.

Probably one of the easiest classes I have taken high school or college. All essay are under 5 pages and the final essays is an essay on how to survie a zomebie apocalypse. Funny guy and easy A I got over a 100% in the class.

Prof Sauvie was awesome! He gives clear direction, just treatment, and open communication. However, not everyone passes his class! If you want a class that you can pass without doing any assignments and sleeping in class, his classes are not for you!

To whoever is taking english 101. I recommend taking Sauvie. He is very straight forward and makes class not as boring but, INTERESTING! His essays are not as hard but they involve a lot of thinking. He has workshops prior to essay due dates and they are very helpful! he answers any questions and helps as much as he cans!. plus, There is no book!!!

Sauvie's a great teacher. He's like a dorky dad-type, but he's super funny and really nice. His assignments seem easy but they actually require quite a bit of thinking and preparation but they're not crazy hard. And he makes himself very available to anyone who needs help. Definitely recommend.

Not only do you learn about the subject matter he is teaching, you also learn teaching style and how to think about what you are teaching and the best way to present it to your classroom. His passion for thinking outside of the box just seeps into the classroom.

Fun. He tries to make everything relate to us and our lives. That makes things easier to deal with. We do have one book but the rest of the readings are all online and for FREE! Not your normal English class, though. More like a thinking class.

Dr. Sauvie was one of my favorite teachers. He tried to make you think about what you were writing. He didn't just give assignments to make you learn something or to fulfill a requirement. He really wanted you to think outside of yourselves and to have fun writing.

A wonderful professor to be around. He makes class enjoyable even if the substance is not your favorite. He cracks jokes, and swears, in a way that lightens the mood. He is very laid back and often has all of the stuff you need online for you to use. If you are against laid back classes this may not be for you, but he makes English fun to others.

He was a super cool guy and if you ever had an issue with a paper go talk to him in his office and he'll let you fix what he's marked wrong and turn it in again to get full points he doesn't make you buy a book at all he's very funny but some of his lectures are random but still fun.

Great lectures! He's a fair grader. If he offers to let you rewrite something DO IT! Your grade will probably go way up. Downside, he didn't like to show up for class and wasn't easily accessible outside of class during his "office hours." But he responds to email quickly!

1st college class after being out of school for years, My stress was the most difficult part of class. Very approachable, encourages you to ask for help when needed, very helpful, Super fun. He is a riot. Project heavy class, though, he's a fairly easy grader. Most projects have a broad area of requirements, so he gives you the basis of the project and let's you decide what direction to take with it. You'll learn lots and lots of neat little tidbits and tricks of the trade, if you will. Great professor.

Favorite teacher I've ever had. Thought-provoking lectures, though you may wonder how they relate to Writing at first. His degree is in Rhetoric, not standard English. Personable and friendly. Brings up heavy but important topics in class, with respect to all arguments. 4 major essays and 1 final project, workload is not bad at all. Fun teacher.

I was waiting for Sauvie to teach 102. I had him for 101 and he was great. There is no book but we do read from stories and articles from the internet. He seems to enjoy his job which I can't say for other teachers at mott. Take him if you can.

This is one of my favorite classes this semester. He's pretty funny and will meet with you to help you with your work. There are four major essays and lots of discussions on the readings he assigns. He takes attendance. Take him if you can.

I had him for 101in the spring and have him for 102 now. I am not sure what the awful reviews are but I dont think they actually had him. He has his grading categories right there on each essay. I am not sure how they could miss that. He answered all of my questions. He even plays bob marley in class sometimes. Hes a pretty cool teacher. m2c.

I feel like the people giving him a bad rating didn't actually take his class because this is one of the easiest English classes I have ever taken. He's very lenient and if you absolutely despise an assignment, just talk to him and he will tweak it for you so you won't be as miserable. I found his lectures enjoyable and funny. Dr. Sauvie is a great professor. He does whatever he can to help his students succeed. He is always available to answers questions. Ignore any bad reviews. Those students either did not take his class, or just gave up. If you follow the assignments and ask for help with whatever you dont understand, you will do well In this course.

I have dr sauvie for my online english 101 course. he explains the essays with lots of videos so it was easy to understand what he was looking for. lots of discussions but the topics are fun so it isn't that bad. will take him again.

I am not famous for my essay writing abilities, but prof. Sauvie was so down to earth and very clear with his instructions that I enjoyed English for once. You have to do the work to pass, but if you put in the effort and communicate hes very understanding by what you produce. Trust me, my papers werent pretty but I passed. I would def take again

The best teacher I have had in college. He has a lot of work, but it's not hard. If youre not sure how to do something, he will explain it clearly to you. If you turn in a paper and he notices that you can do better or you do not understand it, he will give you examples and let you redo your paper. He cares about his students. Amazing professor!

Dr Sauvie is a fair teacher. All of the assignments are described upfront so that makes it easy to follow. If you have questions on the essays he will email you back really quick. If you have questions, just ask!

The assignments given were a lot of fun, mixed with learning. Dr. Sauvie gives assignments that force you to think deeply. I highly recommend Dr. Sauvie. I took an online class and he is responsive and always down to further explain, if asked. I not only learned a lot, I had a great time doing so.

I currently have Dr. Sauvie for Honors English at Mott. He always responded quickly to my emails if I asked him a question or needed some help on an assignment. Some of the readings and essays were different than I expected but they were fun to complete. There are a lot of quizze but as long as you read the materials they aren't too difficult.

Dr. Sauvie is very understanding and clear about what he wants but also makes the class fun. He challenges you when it comes to the papers by making you think, but gives prompts that are fun rather than your basic, boring research papers. I would definitely recommend him and take him again if I had the chance.

I have Dr. Sauvie this semester and it is one of the best classes I have had at Mott so far. He gives you all of the due dates and assignment sheets ahead of time so you can plan out the semester around your work. I appreciate that. All of the required texts are online and free which I also appreciate.

The syllabus is to a tee! Do as instructed and you'll be fine. we were able to work ahead by 1-2 weeks so when I had other things going on with work or family and holidays I was able to be sure my work was complete so I didn't have to fall behind.

He is a great professor. If you need any help you can always reach out to him. It was also very nice that we did not need a textbook for his course. I would take another class with him for sure.

This was my first semester of college. Dr. Sauvie made very clear on what he expected from the class with a very detailed syllabus. He even included all the dates and assignments that were going to be due in a master class calendar. He made writing the essay very easy because he had outlines and sample essays to look at.

Dr. Sauvie's class was easy to follow and understand. The course has weekly due dates and all of the assignment are viewable on the first day. It is very easy to get a good grade in his class, as long as you do all of your assignments and turn everything in on time you will be very well off. He helped re-spark my love for English! I would most definitely take his class again.

I loved this professor as long as you do the reading and do the peer reviews you will get a good grade. Usually, I'm terrible at English and do mediocre in class, but taking English with him helped me.

I have Dr. Sauvie now for my English class. No complaints for far. His course has two due dates each week which makes it easy to keep up with the work. AND he will look at your work before he grades it so we know what we need to revise.

Very clear grading criteria on essays. Assigns interesting essay prompts that make writing much more enjoyable.

His class was really easy to follow. I was worried about taking online classes at MCC but his class was put together well. No book to buy but we did read a lot from websites. Be prepared to revise a lot.

I have Dr Sauvie for Children's Lit this semester. This class is WAY better than I thought it would be. There are a lot of papers, but most of them are about our own views and ideas. We read a lot, but they are mostly children's books, which are all online and free, so it is not that bad. So far so good.

Professor Sauvie's class is pretty straightforward. No textbook required, but lots of reading from online sources. He's big on revisions, which can be helpful. For study prep, I found ChatGPT and Unstuck AI to be really useful tools.

This class was not difficult. He outlined everything that would be required in the syllabus and it was easy to follow or get ahead if needed. My only complaint was that he did not give descriptive feedback on the papers so it was hard to know what you should do better next time. But overall, easy and fun assignments, not a terrible grader.

Dr. Sauvie was fun and we got to do different kinds of writing. It wasn't just the usual stuff. We did a lot with AI this semester. Our final essay was a combination of an annotated bibliography and poem and video. He gives feedback on all of your work if you ask him.

I am taking childrens literature with him this semester and it's going pretty well. I can tell he is really into the class and wants us to do well. We have a lot of different stuff to read but we don't have to buy any books which is a plus. Its only halfway through the course so we will see what happens.

The assignments aren't that bad. Just make sure you read the directions carefully before you submit the assignments.

This is my second class with Dr Sauvie and I love it. I wish he taught more classes at Mott!
