This is the best class I have had so far at Suffolk. Prof Bolgar makes the class fun and she is sooooooo cool. She always talks about intersting psychological research and answers questions in a way that makes it understandalbe. I haven't missed a class yet. Oh, and she isn't hard to look at either. LOL

I love this class and this teacher. She is nice and helpful. She should do stand up comedy...very funny. Gotta agree with the other post, she is HOT.

she is the best! treats you with respect, laughs alot, and whatever we are covering she talks about real experiences so its not BORING. I def rec taking her class, I have an A so far and I hate psyche. I am a girl so I can't say she is hot, but I will say she is pretty and has really nice clothes. She came into class and said "What is this rate my professor sh***! Smiling as usual. She is very funny, drops the lowest test grade and makes time to meet with you if you need it. Friend of mine had her as a counselor while in the hospital and said she was the only one there that gave a damn about him. Great person, great teacher, great class.

shes my favorite professor! she makes me actually want to come to class and shes absolutely hysterical. she keeps my attention and she really cares for her students. she is really there to see her students succeed rather than to collect a paycheck. shes wonderful and i would LOVE to take one of her classes again.

Another prof.came to ourclass and said "I got to tell you about this woman,I have known her over 10yrs and she amazes me regularly." She gave an ex.that her and prof.B went to a party and there was a murderer there, no one knew who it was, within 30 sec. prof b scanned the room, leaned over and said "thats the murderer"..she was right on! Amazing.

profffesor bolger took the time to teach us how to study and make review sheets. i think she is a great teacher and i am glad i had her class.

She asked us to rate her so so here it is- she gives review sheets, intersting lectures,(don't talk while she is lectureing, she will shoot you a look that will meke you feel an inch big) VERY FUNNY and sweet, learned what i needed to for the nursing program. I would take her again.

I wanted to wait for my grade too before rating her as she requested. Got an A-I am very happy. The class was intersting,she is funny, loves woody allen and rob zombie? what a weird combo. but she made the time go fast and i discovered i like psychology. Took her at brentwood, would take her again but she is at the selden campus now..too far.

She is really fair, makes study guides for you, a really nice woman, and very funny. She makes the class interseting by using examples from work. I loved this class!

Ok, I think this class was pretty kewl! I am a bit nervouse about the final, the last test was hard, but she gives review sheets and explains things. The woman is always smiling, even when telling a student to be quiet or get out of her classroom, cracks me up. highly rec. her!

Professor Bolger is one of the best in SCCC. She makes class fun at the same time you'll learn a lot. One research paper not very hard, 4 tests mutiple choice and T/F. hand out study giude for some tests not all. Its an easy A...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Don't talk while she is talking if you take her class that is the only thing that seems to set her off. She gives three tests and a research paper 5 pgs. she sed she would show fight club and didn't....but i forgive her because she made me LMAO and is tasty looking.

She was my fav teacher spring 09. So funny and had great stories, we never stayed in class for the full time. First test was open notebook, the other 2 we were allowed an index card. I would 100% recommend her!

she is a great teacher, lets you leave after tests, uses examples of life situations for eveything and very funny. the only thing is attendance is counted and her tests were harder than others i have had. she will let you use an index card if it is a real tough exam!

As a returning student, I was pleasantly surprised to have such an understanding and comprehensive professor. Questions are encouraged and her experience working in different areas of psychology are helpful in her ability to teach. She adds humor, beauty and a personality into the mix making my last semester a very nice experience!BRAVO DR. B!

She is so nice! Not much of a note giver, but instead reads a few things that you should know/write down. Tests are super easy and she tells you EVERYTHING that will be on them. Shes even fine with the people who walk in 15 minutes late every class. Very interesting class discussions. Her whole teaching method is to be stress free.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED HER! She keeps it very interesting for sure and is always making us laugh. Tests are open notebook. TAKE HERRRR!

This is my third class with her so that tells you something. The tests are fair, not easy but she grades fairly and if its a test that covers more than two chapters she will let you use one page of notes. The research essay is a big part of your grade and she is super strict about but other then that the class is worth it. nice prof.

Bolger has a great teaching style It makes the class interseting and seem easy. It is true that she lest us use notes for long tests but not a page... in our class, it was just a index card of what we could fit on one side ofit.She will yell if anyone is talking during her class and walks the room during tests like a P.O. otherwisse nice.

Yeah this was a good class and I recommend taking it. She taught al lot of information that was interesting and her personality is unique and funny makes class good. Tests are just what she tells you no surprises or trick questions. She connects with the class so i felt comfortable talking.

This was a great class that I'm going to miss! She covers a lot of information but it's so interesting and she had a fantastic personality so it didn't feel like it. Tests are fair and a small amount of notes can be used. It helped me that she uses power point and gives examples of everything and then shows documentary clips about the topics.

I liked the first half of the semester way better than the last but still give the class an A+and recommend it.

Great class, interesting lectures and I am changing my major to psychology. She lectures, shows documentaries about what topic is being covered and then group discussion for everything so there is no way you can't know the chapters. She is also very nice and makes the class laugh. Take her if you need a PSY credit.

She is an amazing Professor. She is laid back, but not a bum. She expects you to read the textbook and be ready to discuss in class. The exams are really easy, and she can help you with anything you need. Plus, she has amazing stories.

very nice, tests are fairly easy, final is not cumulative, class work is very easy, one 5 page paper, she is very straight forward and an easy teacher. don't remember ever having homework. textbook is needed in class sometimes.

Very nice professor! She's very laid back, knows what she's talking about, and will go out of her way to help her students. Her class is so easy it's almost impossible to get anything lower than a B. Doesn't give out homework, has about 3 easy tests (she allows you to have a cheat sheet), and one 5 page research paper. Highly recommended her!!!

Very easy going, understanding professor who is helpful and a very good educator. One 5 page research paper and 4 tests which are not cumulative. You will need the textbook and be reasonable about attendance. Great balanced class, not too much pressure and you will still learn.

I only had her for the past 2 weeks because something happened to my orginal professor ( Thomas Coleman) she is by far my favorite teacher at Suffolk. She makes the class easy and at the same time you actually learn and it's so interesting. My orginal professor we learned NOTHING. All he did was talk about his family and dumb stuff very frustrating

I only had her at the end of the semester because my other professor got hurt and could not continue the class, she is the BEST psych professor at sccc. She doesn't let you stress out and she makes class interesting. I would recommend her. She also lets you use a cheat sheet on tests.

Her lectures were intersting and her personality great but if someone was talking during a lecture she would stop lecturing go over and tell them to be quiet or leave. Tests were fair!

Joy Bolger is an amazing teacher! Other than teaching she's an actual psychologist and not one of those teachers who know knowledge about the subject. She's very kind and caring and if you do the work and study the class is a breeze. She makes it fun and interacts with students every class. I never missed class! Attendance counts as part of your participation grade, she well prepared us for tests, and psychology is interesting so the class wasn't boring. Very nice professor and encouraging to students who seem lazy. I would take another class with this professor for sure.

She tries to make the class as stress-free as she can (she's a psychologist so that may be why she's so understanding). 4 tests and a research paper, and as long as you come to class it won't be hard. Professor Bolger is a great teacher. Her lectures are interesting and she brings real-life experiences into them which keeps your attention. Only down side was that she cancelled class often with very short notice. Other than that, just study the notes she gives you and you will pass with an A easily.

This was a good class I would recommend taking this professor. There are three tests and one research paper due at the end of the semester. I she will let you hand it in early and make corrections because of APA format mistakes. Usually not boring.

Mrs. Bolger is one of the best professors I've had in college. I'm typically not a good morning person, but I don't mind being there at 8am at all. Mrs. Bolger makes her lectures very interesting and she really does help you understand the material. This makes her tests very easy as well. I definitely would recommend her to other students.

What a great class this was! I like that this teacher is relaxed and funny but we still learned allot about child psychology and development because she is ridiculously smart. Im going to agree about her lectures being interesting too! There are 3 tests and a 5 page research essay, which she explained clearly a few times so no surprises. Take her.

A little annoying with the research paper requirements but the rest of the class was good and fair tests. I think this professor is one of the more serious ones about psychology compared to my intro class where we just talked about stuff. If you are interested in psychology take her classes. Attendance counts but it's not a boring class.

She's a great professor! A little off on putting things on blackboard that she says shes going to put on there, but shes so nice and has awesome lectures! Tests aren't too hard, just make sure you study. Overall, I highly recommend!

All I can say is THANKS GOD I have this teacher for psychh this semester. The class is interesting and fair about grading and tests. You will learn a lot each class and not be bored if you take her class. I think she likes teaching because she is always in a good mood and talks with the class allot about the topics with positive feedback.

Professor Bolger is a good teacher and just overall a nice lady. She ran the classes mostly the same each week with a lecture with slides on the chapter but added some stuff not in the book so you need the slides or notes to study. Then usually a 10 minute video. She also has an awesome sense of humor. I love her and hope to take another one.

Such a great professor, very understanding, and very helpful with the final research paper. Tests/final is open notes, always lets us out early. This professor is very good at explaining the topics and I always leave her class moved. the first two tests were not too bad, but the final is open book so I'm hoping for a B+. Joy is definitely the best teacher I have ever had at sccc. I really don't understand how someone could not like her. I had professor Bolger in the spring for 101 and this fall for 216. Her lectures are amazing and informative. Funny, sweet, and very understanding.

Professor Bolgers lectures are usually amazing ! Sometimes i n the beginning you may find them hard to follow but as ahe continues you see how she ties all of the material together and it's mind blowing sometimes. Saying she is concise is an understatement. Zero fluff like some of the other professors I had at Oswego, razor sharp and chill.

Professor Bolger is a great example of how all professors should be. The class is interesting and she gives alot of examples, funny, nice. When she asks your class questions make sure you answer or you will never get out a few minutes early. She'll wait for responses. Tests are fair and she gives a review sheet a week before each one. Shes funny tells a bunch of corny jokes. Only gives one paper and its the final. Had literally 3 homeworks. The class is so easy she respects you and explains everything. Barely had to work out of the textbook and sometimes will let you use your phone, notes, or textbook on a test

Dr Bolger is great ! one research paper was due and all tests we took were open book . she even let us use our phones for the test if we didn't have the textbook with us ! the textbook was never used anyway . lectures were intriguing !! she definitely has her foot in the door with this feild. if u want an easy A literally show up ! good luck :)

If you read the assigned chapters and pay attention during lectures you will do well in her class. The book isn't great but she assigns it because its not a lot of money and the lectures help a lot wit understanding the book.
