She is great! Attendance is not mandatory but she does do in class activites and does not tell you when. Very important to read all chapters assigned and go over your notes for the exams. Even the little side stories in the book. If you ask her, she is very willing to help and take the time to explain what you are not understanding.
There is a lot of information to keep up with in this class, but also a lot of ways to earn points. She doesn't take attendance but there are 4 in-class assignments that you can't make up if you miss. At first I was unsure about her but the class got more interesting towards the end and she was very on top of her end of the work.
Great teacher. No tests, just weekly quizzes online where you can use the book. Have to write essays in replacement of tests but she's a fair grader. Doesn't take attendance but has occasional in class assignments you cant make up if you miss. Id recommend her, she's great.
I'll be honest, I wasn't interested in this subject at all and I wasn't after taking her either. But she's a very fair teacher, a little heavy on powerpoint presentation which can be a little tiring if you take evening classes. All in all, you should take this teacher.
She was not very easy. i have heard that there are some better teachers in the school. She doesn't really concern about her students a lot and she seldom replies mails even when it is an emergency. Her class is really hard and she wasn't being very helpful.
Well, to be honest, it's not that she's a very bad teacher or sth. I can say she's soso. Anyway, she is like a sleeping pill and her class is extremely boring. The good thing is attendance is not so important in her class. Anyway, that doesn't mean skipping classes is okay because u will be test on the things she taught. The exams were kind of hard
I really liked her class. Very interesting. For the papers, try to include as many references to psychology terms and references as possible and you will do good. Even if it seems a little overkill. And she really likes people who speak up during class. Just keep phones in bags and be on time! She will lock the door if people are late too often.
I really enjoyed her class. I think she's a great teacher and I can tell she really has a passion for what she's teaching. She is very helpful; she doesn't necessarily just give you an answer, she helps you figure out what it is yourself, which can be frustrating for students, but helpful in the long run.
Crawford is a very good teacher. She offers a fair amount of extra credit! The tests were difficult but as long as you study you'd do fine! I would recommend her over all the other Psych teachers!
Joy is wonderful!!! She is so passionate about Psychology and she makes it so interesting. She's super helpful and wants you to succeed. I have no complaints with her. How she teaches is so engaging and balanced. 100% recommend.
Best psych professor by far. You can tell she loves the subject, and has very much knowledge about it. Is very clear about what she wants from her students, grading is fair. TAKE HER CLASS! You will love it.
Stress Free, Easy, and Fun. Easy to get above 3.5 but impossible to get 4.0 There are no exams and all quizzes are online. I recommend this teacher.
Very clear in her expectations. It is not impossible to get a 4.0 but not easy. Follow her rubric for written assignments carefully. Include Course content! She is very knowlegeable and approachable. There are a lot of in class activities that cannot be made up if missed. On line quizzes 3 projects not exams. Great class.
Overall this class is extremely managable. Beware of online quizes, while they are easy, you may forget to take them because she never reminds you of their due date. In class assignments are easy, just be sure to show up regularly. She can be a tough essay grader so make sure to fully understand the guidlines of each essay. There were no TESTS!!
She's an awesome teacher. Teaches clearly, she's really into the topic, she's super nice. I would recommend taking her if you really want to learn something. Tests are a bit tricky though. You really have to understand what you learnt.
She's a very nice person! Her class is run on a strict guide, and she sticks to the schedule as much as possible. Her lectures are important to attend as she adds a lot to the reading material. Doesn't take attendance, but her in-class activities are important. She also loves to answer questions!
This instructor is very prompt and organized. There are no surprises as she follows the syllabus but she will change some stuff to better accommodate her students. As a student, I really appreciated that aspect. If you are taking psych 200 watch out for those projects and go to the writing center! Overall I would highly recommend her to everyone.
I am not recommend her class. Every two week she gives a test in class and you have to write three projects.
Dr. Crawford is one of my all time favorite teachers. She is absolutely brilliant and it truly shows in her teaching!
Unecessarily strict. If you were one minute late anything due that day would not be accepted. A dr. note was required if you missed any quiz or assignment and wanted to get credit. An assignment was due, i had given her a dr note a few days prior i had an injury could barely walk. was 1 minute late she refused to take my work.
This lady knows what she's talking about! She is crystal clear and extremely knowledgeable. An easy A as long as you study. The "Psych Sims" are super easy too. You won't get docked for attendance but you need to sit in on every lecture for your grade on an exam. In class activities are necessary too & you never know when they will be. Great!
If you arrive more than 30 seconds late, you get NO CREDIT for the assignment due. Course load is too high. Joy is inappropriately strict, and chooses favorites. When a question is asked, she gives her opinion of it, and not the true answer with facts behind it. Joy is controlling and will not work with students, or be flexible to students' needs.
Make sure to keep up with online quizzes. I missed one and that was 10 pts I couldn't make up... Make sure you can get to class on time or early because assignments are LATE a minute after class starts. Overall, I enjoyed her class and ended up with about a 3.4 Gpa according to the syllabus.
Very passionate for psychology and an excellent lecturer! The exams can be difficult if you don't keep up, so show up as much as possible and take good notes. Also, take advantage of all the extra credit opportunities she has available for her students! I wouldn't recommend her to get an "easy A," but I do recommend her if you really want to learn
I really enjoy this class and Dr. Crawford is really nice. Lots of extra credits but definitely have to do good in exams to get a 4.0. I would recommend her unless if you are the type of person who doesn't like strict teachers. She require total quietness in class and doesn't accept homework once she begin class.
Dr. Crawford is very helpful and very nice. I highly recommend her if you are planning on taking a Psychology class. She gives 3 tests and 3 projects a year. The rest of the class is mostly lecture. I would say that attendance is important because she can give in-class, group activities on any day. She is AmAzInG!
She's a very normal woman, and that doesn't happen often when it comes to GRC professors. Show up on time every day, listen, take lots of notes, read through the textbook chapters assigned. There are tests often, but all you need to do to pass them is understand the content you just studied. No tricks up her sleeve.
She is by far my favourite psychology professor (I'm a psych major). Her expectations are clear and laid out from the very beginning. Exams (MCQ) are not that hard if you study, and there are no trick questions. Lots of extra credit points that will help your overall grade. One of the few professors at GRCC that actually prepares you for life.
Unless you have prior psych experience, be prepared to need the textbook. There is usually at least two out-of-class assignments to turn in every week.
SUPER RECOMMENDED!!!! WOULD TAKE AGAIN
She does her best to make the class more interesting. She assigns a lot of readings and you should read all of it but I feel that reading or going to class isn't really necessary. Just studying from the lecture presentations will cover most of the materials, but be aware that the exams include some materials that wasn't explained in the lecture.
Great class! Learned a lot, but also slept a lot during lecture bc she always kept the lights off and is very monotone. Get prepared to turn things in the moment before class starts, or else she won't take it. Very punctual. Lots of quizzes online, 3 major exams, and extra credit is given if needed. Easy class, make sure to do the book readings.
She is awesome! Her class are not that hard if you follow her directions. Read the textbooks so you can do well in the tests. She gives easy extra credit and they help a lot. Strongly recommend.
Great teacher. Really nice, explains material very well. Goes a little fast, but material is posted online. Suggests you read the assigned textbook pages as homework, but doesn't keep track. Buying textbook is helpful but can be accessed in the library if needed(not used in class-used for homework/studying). Would definitely take her class again.
Really good teacher. Lots of quizzes, she will not accept any assignments after class starts, lectures for every class, 3 exams that you'll need to study for or you won't get a good grade, attendance isn't mandatory but keep in mind she gives random group assignments in class.
One of the BEST instructors I have ever had. She's knowledgeable, enthusiastic, caring, down to earth, yet inspirational. She loves her job and her students. Come to her office hour to talk to her, get to know her and let her know you. She loves getting feedbacks and works with students to help them successful in class and in real life.
PROS: Nice person. Approachable. Professional. Established. Great lectures. CONS: Absent/late/leave early? No credit for hw - no exceptions. Most hw/exams are graded heavily (small # of overall pts). Careful, one assignment could bring your grade down 1-5%. Great teacher, but not the best teaching style for those who stress a lot over their GPA.
Personally this class is great. The teacher really cares about psychology and the students. Not good to miss class because of group work but the material's really interesting. Would recommend.
Her lectures are easily it's just taking the notes is the hard. She goes to the slides to fast and she sometimes speaks to fast as well. She is a nice teacher. Her test is wordy but a little bit hard. She gives a lot of extra credit by the chapter organizers. I love her class and she is wonderful, she sometimes go off topic with her lectures.
Amazing professor! Dr. Crawford is very passionate about Psychology and I would take this class again and again. The textbook can be a bit of a drag, but you have to do the readings or you'll fall behind. She offers weekly extra credit too!
I wanted to learn more about the Therapeutic side of Psychology, but this is the generalization of all psychology. That is why I am taking her Social Psychology and it is hard because of the heavy reading but fun because this is what I really wanted to learn. Ms. Crawford has a thorough understanding of psychology, but not emotional about it .
She's the best instructor I've ever had. I love her class. She's not a tough grader. As long as you study for the test, you'll pass the test. She follows the syllabus and gives extra credits. Dr. Crawford is very passion about Psychology. Don't skip class and be participate in the class.
AMAZING TEACHER. Best teacher I've ever have in my entire schooling. She's great in her lecture and make it so clear to make sure everyone in class gets it. She give extra credits which I absolutely love. She really cares for her students.
Dr. Crawdord is the best Psychology instructor in GRC. She is so knowledgeable and passion. She cares about her students a lot. She's accessible outside class. She loves students asking questions and very willing to help. Great organization and clear lecture. Social psychology is relatively easier than general psychology.
it's really good!
LOVE Dr. Crawford's class! The class is very interesting and knowledgable. Class is not difficult as long as you study the material. Sometimes, Dr. C speaks a little bit too fast so make sure you take some notes.
I liked her psy100 class so i took her psy200. I wish she would put more effort into making the class more engaging because her class is so boring! Also her voice is really high and the tone doesn't change so it's kinda annoying to be in such a heavy lecture class for 50 minutes straight.
Dr. Crawford is a amazing instructor. I enjoy her class so much. Her lecture is informative. She makes psychology come to life. She is accessible outside class. She truly wants to help every one of her students success. Tests are multiple choices. Study and you will get good grades.
clear about what is going to be on the tests incorporates humor in lectures
I abosolutely loved this class, and Dr. Crawford! She explained things well and the material was able to stick with me!
Dr. Crawford is a very passionate professor. She explains concepts and theories thoroughly. Her exams including the final are not accumulative but don't forget to read the material and study! She does do random class work that does receive a grade so make sure you attend. She does offer extra credit through a study hall attendance or worksheet.
Loved her class and was pretty easy as long as you pay attention during lectures and read material Dr Crawford doesn't cover.
Love Dr. Crawford's class. I enjoy her class very much. The tests are multiple choices. They are pretty straight forward as long as you read the book. Dr. Crawford is very approachable and knowledgeable. The class is highly informative. Take Dr. Crawford's class without any hesitation!
I love Dr. Crawford's class! The lectures were inspirational and informative. She is very passion about psychology and very willing to help her students to understand the course. Be on time, submit the work and study. That's all you need to do. Highly recommend her class!
I took her class for Psy100 & 200. Professor Crawford is funny and caring person. The lectures and homework she gave is really clear and fun to do especially the films. Totally would recommend to take her class!
I took Dr. Crawford's PSYC100 and PSYC200. The lectures were fun and inspirational. The homework are fairly easy. If you read the textbook, you will ace the class.
Dr. Crawford is one of the best instructors at Green River College. She is very enthusiastic and highly informative. Highly recommend to take Dr. Crawford's class.
I will highly recommend Dr. Crawfords class! Shes a good and awesome instructor! I love the way she teach as well as the films that part of the material she provided.
I highly recommend Dr. Crawford's class. It's very interesting and informative. Three exams and some homework only. Read the textbook, study the lecture and you will be good. I would definitely take her class again.
Dr. Crawford is awesome! You need to put in a lot of effort for the class, but it's just how it is. The course itself is complicated, but Dr. Crawford is very informative and accessible. There is quite a few assignments, but they are all manageable. I genuinely enjoyed her class and hope I can take her class again.
I took Dr. Crawford for Psych100 and Psych220 in the quarter she had to teach it. She is a very caring instructor who explains concepts clearly. She assigns a lot of homework sometimes, and can be very tough on grading it. She's fun to listen to though and if you have any questions she will be happy to answer them!
Caring, compassionate, loves her work and wants you to "get it"! Always on time, communicates well. Excellent instruction!
Dr. Crawford is a decent professor. Her lectures are very clear. I found this class a little difficult because there is so much information to remember. Exams are a little tricky in my opinion. Extra credit opportunities are limited- only 10 maximum from the chapter organisers given. Overall, good teacher :)
An amazing teacher, she is really good at keeping everyone engaged & gives all the materials needed & more to actually pass the class. If you put in the effort, you will pass. Although lecture is not mandatory if you want to pass you should go. She gives extra credit opportunities & snacks. As an individual she seems very structured & traditional!
The lecture are amazing. She knows a lot and can share this knowledge. She is organized, but some tests were complicated and not clear. Interesting videos during lecture and perfect discussions in the class.
Taking this class in winter qtr was not the best move, however this teacher is nice and understanding. 99% of her classes are lectures, but when it comes to grading she reads your work unlike most teachers so be aware of this
Doctor Crawfords lectures are amazing. Just be sure to do all the quizzes and homework assignments on time and youll get a good grade in the class.
Make sure to let her check your homework before submitting, she grades the homework base on her favor. Don't miss ANY class activities, homework, and online quizzes, missing every single one of them is more hurtful to your GPA than losing points on exams. Study the exam using the textbook and the study guide she provided.
Ms. Crawford is meticulous but also helpful, that means she gives feedback on all your answers. So yes, you do need to actually to properly answer the questions. I think the formative work was harder because the summative work was just mc questions and one report (that you can get help from the writers workshops that she hosts).
Shes an amazing professor. Her class is mostly lecture based so be ready to take notes, but her lectures are amazing. Ive never had a teacher give lectures as engaging as hers. My only complaint is that instead of using canvas she uses wamap which is really confusing and hard to keep up with. Due to that I missed many assignments and quizzes.
get ready to become a psychiatrist. you need to spend your whole week to pass an Exam so there are 3 exams and they are not easy it's definitely harder. get ready to read a lot!
The BEST professor I've ever had, very understanding and very clear about what you need to know. Quizzes are okay, a little confusing sometimes but overall the best.
Dr Crawford is amazing. there are only 3 exams which are not difficult if you attend the lecture and read the textbook There is a 10 question quiz that is not timed for each chapter which is super easy. Dr Crawford offers extra credit opportunity. Her lectures are amazing with great examples! You will not regret taking her class.
LOTS OF LECTURE AND READING. Do your reading, it is so beneficial to learning the material. When it comes to homework, utilize the textbook. Dr. Crawford is very thorough and explains everything perfectly. She has a bit of a dry sense of humor though haha.
Her online class during Spring 2020 was not the best. She could have offered more time on the exams, but that was not the case. You had 40 minutes to complete a 50 MC question exam. Also her grading on the online discussion was really strict, and even though this was an intro to Psych, I think her grading for discussions were overly strict.
There have lots of lectures and reading in her class, I really enjoy watching her lectures, a lot of examples and detail in the lectures. The most unreasonable thing is she only offered 40 minutes to finished the exams, You had 40 minutes to complete 50 multiple questions. Also, her grading was really strict.
I took professor Crawford for Spring Quarter 2020 and it was not the best. I think that her grading scale was really strict and that she could've been more lenient, especially with the transition to online class after the shutdown. 96% in the class became a grade of 3.9 for me. She's a tough grader when it comes to short answer responses.
If you watch her lecture, read the textbook and study from the study guide, for sure you will pass her class with a good grade. She was so nice and caring when you have a struggle, you can just send her an email and ask her to meet she will help you 100%.
I had not finished the course yet, but the workload specifically the notes is extraordinarily time-consuming. She assigns about 7 sections of notes including a video and textbook for each. The overall assignments are decently difficult as it is just asking for an overview of what we learned and the quizzes are simple too. However, notes are a lot.
Professor Crawford is an amazing teacher. She sets up watchable lectures each week along with a section from the textbook. While at first glance it looks quite tedious, her lectures are thorough yet concise and she only puts things on the tests that she's lectured on. If you follow along its an easy class. She responds via email quickly.
Crawford claims to have a no more than 24 hour response time to emails, excluding holidays and weekends of course, however I emailed her weekly (for 6 weeks!) and it wasn't until I wrote in to a test answer explaining that I was struggling and that she never responded to my emails that she finally responded. She grades very slow (2 weeks usually).
I absolutely enjoyed learning in this class. She makes study plans for her students to make it easy for when you should be doing assignments/lectures and it helps a lot. She definitely knows what shes teaching. For me the class is considered easy with the assignments, lectures & exams because I genuinely understood everything she was teaching.
I loved Professor Crawfords class. Very lecture heavy but interesting and manageable. She provides study guides so if you take good notes it should be an easy class. She gives good feedback although she is on the slower side of grading work. Very understanding and clearly passionate about her work. 100% would recommend for psych students!
Lots of lectures and lots of notes to take. Her lectures are not boring though. I rarely had questions because her class is straightforward. 1 to 3 weekly assignments and 1 quiz every week. The only thing is you really have to apply the knowledge you learn for the exams because a lot of the questions are situational/story problems.
There are a lot of lecture videos on her online class. It will be time consuming if you take hand notes. I recommend taking a few notes on computer. The exams are based on the textbook so spend more time reading and you should be fine. She grades harshly so put effort into the assignment. This class is time consuming so it isn't easy A
I respect this professor, but they made the course much more difficult than it needed to be. The grading for each assignment was not very clear. Tests do nearly nothing to improve your grade. When you reach out with questions and concerns the response is not very clear or helpful. Overall the course was a pain so I would recommend another professor
I respect Crawford. She is well-spoken and her lectures are thorough. She actually reads your assignments and gives specific feedback, but her grading is tough. I suggest watching lectures and taking a couple of notes for the assignments. Focus on the reading and study guide for your exams. You will get good marks if you put in the effort
Well respected but to be honest her class is tougher than how it should. She really challenges your answers and if you put in the effort it doesnt matter youll still get the grade you end up getting. Her assignments and discussion posts need a lot of thinking. Tough grader so be detailed and put facts/back it up. It isnt impossible to get an A.
100% taught out of textbook, hardly any room for subjectivity in answers. If you're 90% to the correct answer, chances are you'll get 0%. The material of the class was not too difficult, just takes a lot of studying
Don't listen to negative comments on here. She is setting you up for success. Approach assignments/discussion like an essay instead of simply answering them. Connect as much information from the lecture/text to support your answers. Use specific vocab and language. Use proper citations. I promise that she will not mark points if you do that
Dr. Crawford is the best Psych professor. Her lectures are helpful to understand. There are assignments and discussions to beef up your grade. You get to watch films to write about them. Exams are pretty easy if you read and watch lecture. She offers extra credit which is nice. If you spend time on this class it is an easy A
Professor Crawford lays out her online class with specific guidance on how to follow the text book reading and lectures. She is always available to help if you email her. If you put in the work you will pass this class
Don't expect this class to be easy. There are a ton of lectures that you have to get through and then watch a film and do a discussion post and an assignment. Lectures are are helpful for discussion posts and textbook is for exams. Exams were pretty simple. Overall, she graded fairly and gave lots of extra credit. Be patient with the class
Tough class but you learn a ton. Slow grader so it takes a while to figure out what she's looking for. However, if you go to office hours she will help you immensely! My writing drastically improved because of Dr. Crawford. Tests required critical thinking and are based off text reading. Watch all lectures so you can answer discussion posts.
Her online Winter 2022 class went very smoothly. We had 3 exams (not too hard). All of her work is very organized and according to the due dates. You have to watch about 4-8 lectures a week and read the book. The book isn't important to read because tests are mainly based on her lectures. Following the lectures were an assignment and quiz each week
I had multiple psych professors at GRC and Dr. C was the best for me (psych major). Lectures are concise. Graded on tests and discussion posts. The writing takes time but is worth it bc you truly remember the material. If you reach out before posting she will make the time to help. Gives a suggested plan to follow to stay on track for each module.
This class will seem hard at first. Good amount of reading, and tough grade scale. 4.0 GPA 99-100%. But the textbook is actually useful, and the online lectures are secondary. You can definitely learn a lot in this class if you have good work habits. Gives weekly modules, gives a clear study plan. Its overall doable, just expect to read a lot.
I hardcore failed her class but if I could retake it I would. I slacked off and it got to me. This class is structured for students to succeed. Be prepared to do the work. Films & discussion posts are lengthy but if you study, you will ace. Pls get a hold of the textbook! I didnt (big mistake), which lead to me failing you WILL need it.
The lectures were tough for me to get through, but were helpful. I liked the tests in this course, they made me think and feel like I actually earned my grade.
Love prof Crawford. Super easy class. Lecture heavy, and some reading. Gives extremely clear instructions on assignments. 1-2 assignments and 1 easy quiz (not timed) a week. 3 multiple choice tests throughout the quarter (50 questions, 40 mins, lockdown browser). Easy A class. I recommend you take it. Currently taking psych200 and I love it.
took her class because of all the good ratings on here but nope. NEVER AGAIN. takes ages to grade. absolutely no extra credits. class is much harder than it should be. never explains or goes into detail on why she gave you the certain grade. do yourself a favor and take any other class than this one :)
Doesn't have extra credit. Once you received the grade of any assignments, you can't ask her for doing again. So low points over all so if your assignment has deducted one point, if affects your grade more than other class. Not caring about the students. Bad grader. You need to read and watch many lectures. Many lectures than you imagine.
Very organized with pre-recorded audiovisual lectures. If you like structure, this is a good class. Exams are disappointing. Ridiculously tricky, lots of obscure questions having little to do with what we learned or studied for. Dr. Joy is the second professor I've taken psychology with at Green River. Found her to be unresponsive, slow grader.
Professor Crawford was a good teacher and was available for any questions I had. This was just a hard class and a lot of reading and homework. If you work hard you will do well in this class.
Do not take this class unless you are prepared to put many hours into it. This class is very lecture heavy with 4-8 lectures a week. You take three exams but her grading is not weighted so every point matters. Most of what you study for is not even on the exam. Lots of readings, weekly assignments and quizzes.
This class is a lot of reading, but it is fun. Take the time to watch the lectures, they really help with understanding the reading in the book and I don't think you will do well if you skip them. She is great at explaining things. The exams are hard, but not too bad. Just spend a little extra time on studying. She provides practice tests as well.
Stay away from her. The exam questions are not like something you saw or heard about. 99-100 is 4.0. This class not help your GPA. 50 questions in only 40 minutes. Barley have time to read the questions. Even the weekly quiz ( not timed) are very hard and the max score was 26/30. there is no extra credit. She does not help when ask questions.
Adamant professor, expect hours of reading and listening to (somewhat) boring lectures. Assignments are graded harshly. Expect to write a lot for discussions and assignments. Bi-weekly tests were a great grade boost. Once you understand what the professor wants, it becomes a fairly trivial course.
Don't take psychology class if you're not ready to read a book chapter (~40 pages) a week, plus a lot of mini-lectures (20mins, 40mins, over an hour (NOT TOO MINI),...). 99-100% for 4.0 GPA, I wonder if there's anyone can get 4.0 in her class
I loved her class a lot! She is a tough grader but as long as you read the textbook and watch the lectures if you're confused, then you should be all set! She is caring and wants to help you as long as you pull your weight! I loved her class a lot and am taking future courses! It is difficult in the beginning, but you'll adjust fine! :D
I recommend not to take this class. The teacher is very strict in how she wants her assignments done. Some of her lectures can take many hours. The textbook is very expensive too.
I really enjoyed this class! It was very interesting but you have to put a lot of time and effort if you want a good grade. She wants her assignments done a certain way and is very particular. If you need help you can reach out to her, she always wants to help. Normally 1 quiz and 1 assignment a week. 3 exams in the quarter 40min for 50 questions
I enjoyed this class and found it very interesting! However, be warned about her tight grading scale! A 99-100 is a 4.0, a 98-97 is a 3.9, etc. Lectures & textbook readings weekly. 3 large exams that have 50 questions with only 40 min to take. If you care about your GPA then maybe not for you... but nevertheless very interesting!
You read one (maybe two) chapters, do an optional study guide, do 1-2 assignments, watch a lecture, and do 1 quiz every week. She is a great teacher, finds amazing easy-to-read textbooks, is available to help, and gives great assignments but they are challenging! There is very limited extra credit. She is caring and understanding as well!
DO NOT take this Prof. Critical on how she wants her assignments done, insanely critical. No good feedback. $200 textbook, 50 questions in 40 min, No late work, have IRL issues? Provide proof, No redo's (God forbid I accidentally make a mistake) Good luck getting a 4.0, it's impossible. Made a mistake? GPA only goes down. It's not that deep
Dr Crawford's class was easy, 3 exams 50 questions 40 minutes if you study it's not hard, they are all multiple question. Work wasn't too heavy usually a quiz and assignment weekly but they were also easy. Textbook was a bit confusing though.
Psyc300 level class. Just started. Terrible start. repeatedly sent email for clarification with a response of "just check the class page". Will update if she gets better.
Just started the class a few weeks ago. 99% is a 4.0 gpa. 25 questions in 20 mins exams. All or nothing and subjective in terms of grading. Lots of lectures and very particular in assignments. You miss one word in your assignment (which wasn't included in rubric) you get a 75% grade. This could be such a fun class, but she makes it very boring.
If you're ready to read 3 chapters In a week on top of that ready another documents she uploads and watch lecture don't take her classes. She's very helpful and honest but very hard graded and your won't matter to her.
I love this professor and took three of her classes! Every week you usually have an assignment and a quiz. You read a chapter or two and then watch a few hours of lectures. The assignments were diagnosing people in scenarios and the quizzes were easy and not timed! You can open and close them too. She is understanding, a great teacher, and great!
I took her PSYC100 class, and to be honest, I wouldn't say I liked it. The only reason why I took her psyc200 was because I needed it for my degree. This class is SIGNIFICANTLY more enjoyable and easier to understand than her other class. I would recommend her psych200. I would've gotten an A if I didn't miss an assignment.
Joy's class is challenging but engaging. The lectures and textbook readings are extensive, and the exams are tough with a strict grading scale. However, resources like unstuckstudy can really help with study prep. Overall, the content is interesting, but be ready to commit significant time and effort.
Inconsiderate and tough grader. Just overall rude
Professor Crawford is very particular about how she wants assignments done. She wanted our answers to be very detailed, but didn't specify that until after our work was graded. When it wasn't up to her standard she wouldn't let us fix newer assignments that we didn't realize were wrong since she took forever to grade the first one. Don't take her.
This professor will take off points on every minor detail, wether it's word switch up or simply using a different edition of the same textbook she will take them off unfortunately; I found it very difficult to get a good grade on the discussion since her rubric is so board and yet she expects the tiniest details however the exams are fairly easy.
She grades very hard and needs 99% to get a 4.0 and with the amount of video lectures and so much to watch and read in the book it is almost impossible. She also grades slowly so it is impossible to know what she wants so that you can learn from her experience for next time. I will never take her class again
Her class wasn't bad, got a 4.0. 1 chapter quiz and assignment every week, chapter quiz is multiple choice while assignment is 4 written questions. Exams (3) are 50 questions/40mins. Lectures every week, try and just get the main idea of the lectures and look back when answering assignments otherwise it'll take time. Can be picky sometimes.
She's nice and everything seemed consistently clear what was asked. Don't skim or fall behind on the plans for studying, get ahead of them if you can. Consistently take notes and read the textbook carefully bc she pulls rlly specific questions from there often. Do the practice test if you wanna succeed and reach out. Really tedious work though.
long quiz's and you have to cite from the lecture videos and they are LONG. but overall not that bad you just have to put in the work. your grade will be fine as long as you turn in everything on time, she doesn't accept late work. lecture videos are important to watch
Each week, expect 1-2 chapters to read, a lecture, a chapter quiz, and a case study. You have to be super descriptive in your case studies, but she gives great feedback on how to improve for your next ones. She's kind in her emails, so don't hesitate to reach out for any help. No midterm and the final is much easier than the previous case studies.
Do not take class with her, she is the worse.
Do not take class with her ever.
If you enjoy being stressed for no reason, this is your class. She's the definition of misery in academia. Nitpicks everything, grades slower than dial-up, and throws out false accusations like confetti. I've had a 4.0 for two years, now I've got stress hives and a bleeding ulcer. Take literally anybody else.
She's rudee. I don't get what she really want for this course. It is true that the grade never improve and even worse. I spend a week to watch the lecture videos and to complete the discussion and assignment. But what she gave out is just a big 0. Unacceptable. This is the class that uses most of time. Here graded is so slow.
Spent hrs on an assignment only to be given a 0. I used citations that stated where I got my answers from. Also, she wants you to cite after every sentence, very tedious work, lecture/reading heavy, hw heavy. I would not take her class again. Not to mention tough grader. Takes long to grade.
You have to watch videos and write a lot, quiz also have to write a lot as well as discussion, each question is very long and she grades very strictly and in detail.
I would recommend not to take this class. Even though psychology is engaging subject, you will struggle. Unfortunately, professor focuses on minor details during the exams, that are not related to the main ideas. Grades are based on your ability to cite the information, not knowledge. Grading takes weeks, so there is no chance to improve yourself.
She is AWFUL. She is a hard grader and will downgrade you on anything she possibly can. She even made up stuff that wasn't in the rubric to downgrade me and then tried to gaslight me like I could not check the rubric which is incredibly unprofessional. She is rude and admitted she had low empathy. If you have an emergency she will not care. AVOID.
She doesn't use examples to show her expectations on assignments- so if you want to do a good job in class... I hope you can read minds! She also grades in batches, so you won't know it until way later if you're failing (two weeks from the end of the class in my case), when there's no chance to talk with her and improve your grade. AVOID!
She's okay. There are 3 multiple-choice exams, and weekly quizzes and long assignments. The assignments don't have clear grading criteria, and she's a strict grader. Emailing her isn't very helpful, so definitely take the extra credit.
Dr. Crawford was great. There is a lot of work but she is always averrable to help and is really nice.
