she is an awesome teacher. her examples are so clear and make you really understand the material. she's hilarious and such an animated teacher. definitley my favorite class at rowan so far.

Definitely made taking a theory class fun. Her enthusiasm to comm theory makes it all worthwhile.

She is really down to earth but she grades hard.

Joy is definatly one of the best teachers that I have ever had. She teaches everything in such a clear way that this topic is actually interesting. Also a very funny person, take her for this class it will be worth it.

Lectures are so good that you want to give her a standing-o after class. Truly a TEACHER...besides her pop-quizzes, the class is fair and really a great learning experience. Not to mention she is HYSTERICAL

she is the best professor I have ever had. she uses fun examples to explain what is going on & she is willing to help you anytime you need it. each class is like a stand-up comedy act & you never get bored. tests are long but not bad if you study.

Easygoing, and makes the class interesting. Also really made me think about ethics issues. Although probably one of the hardest classes I've taken, also my favorite!

If you're a true comm major, the class by no means sucks. If you don't find the material somewhat interesting on its own let alone with an amazing professor who brings it to life by situating it in real life situations, you need to change your major.

If you're a Comm major and you hate this class, you need to switch majors. If you think it's too hard, you need to go somewhere even dumber than Rowan, because if you take this thing called 'notes' and actually study, the class should be really easy.

none of you know what you're talking about. she is the most helpful prof ever. if you pay attention in class, which isn't hard, & read you'll do fine. plus, she is always willing to help whenever you need it. don't come to college if you don't expect to work hard. that's the point.

I agree that all of you are way off on this one. She's a great professor and I have recommened her to lots.I take her for anything that I can and think that not only is she a great professor but a great person.Maybe if you all read and paid attention you wouldn't have these opinions of her.

shes hysterical. this is my favorite class this semester. she makes the subject very fun and interesting. u have to study for her tests but if u study and pay attention u will do fine. 3 tests one annotated bib and 1 paper. take her!

great prof. one of the best at Rowan, not an easy class but you learn alot and if you dont understand she will go out of her way to help you. for any com classes she is great, namely theory, she will give real life examples that make it easier to understand the theories

One of the best that Rowan has to offer. Loves to make students "FLESH IT OUT." I learned so much in her classes. She's extremely funny and genuine. If u r in need of help, she's there. ALWAYS!!!

not necessarily an easy class but she is def the most helpful professor ive had at rowan. she is always willing to help and will read rough drafts of papers if you go to her. only downside is popquizes on the readings. tests are pretty hard too. but she has a good sense of humor and teaches well.

Awesome teacher! She was so cool and funny and taught the material very well. It's not a terribly easy class, but it is not that difficult either. Just be prepared for classes and tests and you'll do great. She reminds me a lot of Rachel Dratch from SNL--VERY FUNNY! A+ Highly Recommended

Joy is definitely a great teacher. Everytime I had her class I would stay focused and always enjoyed he lectures. But beware the class is not an easy one. The pop quizes are rough and the tests are mainly essay. This is great class for people who actually want to learn and apply themselves. Also Joy has this great sarcastic humor that I love!

Cypher is nice, has a sense of humour, but her classes are extremely long and boring, her teachings is extremely boring, and she acts like she knows the theories so well, but she truly doesnt. shes not as smart as she thinks she is, and her humour isnt as funny as the class makes it out to be, tests and papers are hard becuase she doesnt teach well

Joy is an amazing professor. She knows so much about the subject matter she teaches. She's smart, sarcastic, & very funny. I learned so much from her class & feel like I can apply most of it to my future. Yes, she is difficult but if you put time and effort into her class you will do fine & learn. This is a real college class, not some easy A.

The professor was very good. She keeps your attention on the subject matter even if you have no interest. Great class if you want to learn. You need to attend the classes in order to pass. Recommend anyone who has to take this and wants to learn to take it with Cypher.

I had no idea about communication studies classes. I am an R/T/F major and simply took Comm Theory because it was a requirement but after having Joy I had to take her again, so I took her Ethics class. She is amazing! Her classes are never boring! She cares about her students and is willing to help them in any way possible. She is awesome!

Joy was a great professor. Its a tough class, and you really have to work for your grade. She is helpful, and reads rough drafts. ALOT of reading (but it was a summer course) and she went over everything. Tests are hard -- MUST STUDY her study guides. Reading quizzes once a week.

Joy was very helpful throughout the semester. A lot of people don't really understand the material too well, but she does a really good job at trying to connect it to everyday life. She also tries to make you laugh (key word: tries), but at least she has some personality. She'll keep you to the end pretty much every class, but its not too bad.

Joy is such a great lady. Like she said on the first day of class, her tests are "hard but fair." You NEED to study everyday and know the theories inside and out. I've learned a lot from this class and it's worth the money. If you want an easy class, do not take this. If you want to use your head and actually learn something in college, TAKE THIS

Joy is great. If you actually care about learning things, then her stuff is brilliant. If you're there to get 3 credits, you'll be tortured. She keeps you till the end every class, but its so worth it.

Joy is AMAZING! Her material is always interesting. She is not like any professor I have ever met. She is so involved with what she is teaching, it makes learning so much fun! I had her for Ethics and Constructing Health. Loved them both! Challenging work, but not impossible. Quizzes and exams, study! :)

Dr. Cypher is a great teacher but the material is nonsense. I had to take this class for my dual major (writing arts)and nothing that I learned applies to writing or education (my primary major. Class is hard so be prepared to study and write at least 2 papers! Still got an A but hard all the same!

took issues in ethical communication. I LOVED THIS CLASS! Dr. Cypher is incredible when giving lectures, i had this class for 3 hours one night a week, and time flew by. Highly recommend any of her classes! (does involve a lot of work too)

Dr. Cypher is a fantastic teacher. I looked forward to her class. Her lectures were so clear and she made things so interesting that I didn't mind studying. Although it's not easy, it's well worth it. I can't wait to take another class with her!

I had her for Comm. Theory. I loved her class, she kept you interested and excited to learn. She is so nice and always willing to help. Tests were hard but fair. She gives a study guide... use it wisely. Study hard and take notes and you'll do fine!

Dr. Cypher is literally as good as it gets and you will be lucky if you ever get to take a class with her. She's inspiring in her teaching and just an all around great person. Hard topics that turned into my favorite college courses. She will help you however she can and truly just wants the best for her students.

Be prepared to read the textbook from cover to cover. Test are not too hard as long as you study and she gives study guides to help you study as well as she has a day before the test to ask any questions you want about the test which are helpful. Overall, there are 3 tests and 1 paper. Hard grader but is always willing to help her students.

I wish I could take all of my classes with Dr. Cypher. If you are genuinely interested in learning, she is the professor to learn from. Even if you are not, she will make you want to learn. I feel like she is from a movie, that's how good she is.

Dr. Cypher is the best! The material is pretty complex stuff but she explains everything so well and gives great examples. She's funny and energetic and she gets everyone really into the class. Joy Cypher was a bright light in the darkness of college during covid. She brought great energy and curiosity to our class through zoom. Honestly I wish I had the chance to take her in person. Great online if you want a professor that tries.

Cypher is such an energetic sweet woman who will work with you. However, she is a lot of work. You will need to read the textbook cover to cover, and I had about 6 quizzes, 3 exams, and a 6-8 page term paper. Not an easy A, but doable if you go to class and pay attention. If you read the book it will help a lot. She dropped the lowest quiz.

So i was a Freshman in a room of only seniors and was nervous. It was constructing health and I was sure I would struggle but tbh the seniors really didnt try so she loved me. Covid ruined the rest of the semester but she made the transition easier by being understanding and i still felt like i learned
