It is too funny for me to read through all the bad comments about Joy. Just let me ask this question. How do you study and how long do you study? When students complain about her class in VC because they have no idea what UC system will be like. All i want to say is that she is a fair teacher and you will find her class easy if you ask for help.

She's a wonderful teacher. Chem is a hard subj to begin w/- know that going in. She is a kind person who wants to see us succeed. It's ChemLab, you have to be exact w/ things like #s & notation bc it otherwise changes the outcome of the product. If you don't understand, just ask again & again- she'll find a way to explain that you understand. GL!!!

Lectures are HORRIBLE. You will have to spend about 2 extra hours outside of lecture to learn the material on your own. She allows you to print out her lecture notes, HOWEVER, they are handwritten and very unorganized.

Wouldn't take again

Extremely tough grader. one person had an -A, and the next in line had a B. these are smart people, but between sig figs, counting every small error, and limited explanation, our class stood no chance.

Would take again

Best chemistry professor I have ever experienced. Im a bio student and chemistry was never my best subject, all throughout high school and college I struggled with every little thing from naming to complicated calculus and physics based stuff. Joy saved my life. Very fair, but hard grader which really pushed me to take everything seriously.
