She is a great and exellent teacher. She doesn't care if you are late to class. She will give you lots of opportunity to correct your paper until you get a good grade. she doen't care if you don't come to class,she just want you to have all your paper done by the end of the semester.

after taking Prof. Mahabir i based my whole schedule next semester around her class. i have never loved a teacher so much to take them twice!!!!! she is kind, understanding and so helpful. she guides you through everything, and gives you all the answers if you take good notes, dont just write what she writes on the board, also write what she says

dr.mahabir is a wonderful teacher. if you take good notes then you'll ace her class. 2 tests, 2 papers not that bad at all. she'll even give you all the questions and answers to the test beforehand. just try and pay attention, sometimes the literature is a doozy.

If you copy her notes well, she gives you the questions to the test before the test is given all based on her notes. She is the sweetest lady ever!! i got an A on everything SO easy!!!!!!! class is boring but just go! easy A!!!

Dr. Mahabir is a great scholar who gets you to analize different writings, & also makes sure you get to understand other cultures around you. She makes you travel around the world without leaving your seat and makes you analyze lectures which encourage you to learn about others around you & around the world! She is a writer and has a sense of humor

Prof. Mahabir is an excellent professor. I found that in her literature class she is very helpful in explaining themes and ideas that sometimes people don't understand right away. Attend class, take notes, and do her papers and you should get no less than a B. Your success in her class is all up to you.

She is a great intellectual & teacher. Take notes to understand poems and song lyrics. Loved that we did song lyrics. 2 essays so don't take class if you can't write.

She is one the best teachers in Suffolk hands down, her papers are fairly easy. The tests were open notebook and she usually does not use up all the class period so you get out earlier than expected. I am glad to say that I will be taking another class of hers next semester.

According to the syllabus, if you miss more than 6 classes you'll fail no matter your score, but that's a really good absence cushion. She was very sweet and gives you good tips on what should be changed in the papers you write in her class. She's soft-spoken, so a little hard to hear sometimes, but a really good teacher.

She is a fantastic teacher. She only gave 2 tests, both which were open book and easy to pass if you copied down all the notes on the board. Gave 2 papers, which were also very simple as long as you had all of your notes. She gives great feedback when you have a conference with her and willingly answers all questions. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Prof Joy Mahabir is such a good professor you have 4 papers and if you did not get a good grade on them. She will make some corrections and tell you to revised it. Very easy class. i would take her again. Highly recommended

I am currently taking Professor Mahabir's class right now. She is an amazing professor who is always there for you and really wants you to excel. Professor Mahabir gives stories that may be hard to understand but she makes them easier to understand. Participate, Work Hard, Ask for help and Ask Questions; these are pieces of advice I give to you.

Two Tests in which are open books by using your notes and two papers. As long as you show up, write the notes. You are good to go. Class end early. You should take herrr

You take 2-3 open book tests which she provides the notes for. Two papers are written. Also almost 1/2 the classes are canceled because she schedules group sessions with her students to review their progress on their papers. If you aren't scheduled for that day, you don't have to come to class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER! EASY A!

4 to 5 essays. Enjoyed doing creative non-fiction essay presentation because the class gives you lots of ideas for this essay. You get to revise all your essays so you can get a better grade at end of semester. All handouts no textbook

I just finished taking Professor Mahabir's class. She is a teacher that really wants to help you be the best student you can be. Professor Mahabir goes over the stories in class, which I personally find helpful. Ask for Help/Speak Up, Participate and Work Hard are some advice I would give you. Professor Mahabir's class was a gift this semester. She is always willing to help you if something is unclear. There are readings which she goes over in good detail. The 2 tests and 2 papers were based on all the readings we did in class. She has conferences to look over the papers. She's very sweet. Highly recommend her. No textbook for global lit

I had Professor Mahabir for Honors ENG 101 - it has no final just 5 papers. Pretty easy class, just put the effort into the essays. Mess up or do bad on essay? Not a prob all essays can be written. It's an Easy A that requires some effort. The professor is a nice and reasonable. Try not to cut/miss a lot cause you'll be hurting yourself. Goodluck

One of the best professors in SCCC. She is there for you when you need some help. She is really kind and she really knows what she is teaching. Without a doubt would take her again.

If your bad in english this is the professor for you. Theres about 2-3 papers and a few OPENBOOK quizzes.. She pretty easy and will help you anyway she can. Just pay attention in class and watch 2 cool movies during the semester. The only reason why i had gotten a B+ is because i was taking harder classes and did about a B in one of my papers

She is amazing! She pretty much breaks down all the readings and although it might sound like too much, it makes you better understand everything. There are about 2 papers and 2 essays but it's pretty much based on the readings and super super easy. I would take her again! She was simply amazing and understanding.

I have absolutely no complaints about Professor Mahabir. I had her for ENG101. No textbook needed. She is very sweet and caring and will work around any issues that may come up. All you do for the semester is write a few essays and that's it. She ended class early by about 20 minutes every time, which is great, too. I highly recommend her.

She is absolutely AMAZING, I have taken her class twice, the first time I just stopped showing up and she gave me a withdrawal (which Mahabir, did not have to for me). Then i got serious about school, took her class a second time, she was super helpful and just wanted to see me do well. TAKE HER!

Teaches English how it should be taught with thorough explanations for the literature. Outlines every short story,poem, or song we read or listen to which will be on the 2 exams you will take during the semester. Gives two papers which are 5-7 pages each but are easy to write. Take this professor if you have previously dreaded English

Quite frankly, I must say that its easy to earn an A in her class! U need to put the effort in when she gives Essays out. She can be a bit awkward at times, but nonetheless she cares about her students. If you get a B on your essay, shell let you revise your essays until the end of the semester, so again impossible to fail

She is by far she is fair and most caring. She gives plenty of time to finish a paper. This semester we had to do 4 essays, she allows us to revise them if needed for a better grade. One of my favorite professors. Hard to not get an A if you do the work. She is a very caring, understanding, and kind professor. She gave 4 papers that are easy and she lets you revise them. She also gave an open book test. I really enjoyed her class and I wish that I could take her again.

She is the most kindest professor at SCCC in my opinion. I really enjoyed reading about global literature and I thought it would be boring. Her class was easy, two 5 page papers based on the literature read in class that she gives you. The people in my class were boring not her so much. Take brief notes in class and discuss readings.

I am SOO happy I took her class. Her papers are not crazy long and she works with you, wants you to do well. Ends class early so whoever has questions can go directly to her afterwards. Sits one on one with you and makes it an easy A. Also lets you leave early if your work is finished. Def recommend Mahabir!

I took Prof Mahabir's course online during the pandemic and she was nothing but clear and helpful. She made short videos every week explaining what is due and would give plenty of time to complete essays. I have gotten 100's on every essay so far, she grades very leniently. I would definitely take her again!

She clearly and thoroughly outlines each assignment. She assigns readings, had us create a PowerPoint presentation, and encouraged collaboration in class with peers. She is an easy A. If you show up to class, do the work, you are sure to get a nice grade!

The assignments on the Discussion board were straightforward and were based on the texts she provides. The texts were not hard to read and she provides notes on them. There were two five-page papers and it wasn't bad IMO. You can always visit her office hours if you need help or email her. She was very kind. I'm glad I took her class.

EASY A! Professor is super nice and laid back. Work is light and straight forward so if you try you should get an A easily. She has great feedback and is kind on grading with writing. You dont have to be an amazing writer in order to get a good grade, she just likes to see the effort was made and you will get 100% on assignments.

I had Professor Mahabir twice many many years ago. She is one of the most caring, understanding and sweet Professor's I've ever had. I would say she is the Top 3 favorite Professor's that I've had of all time. Her class is not difficult at all, she is easy-going about absenteeism. A++ Professor!!

This professor is very caring and an easy grader. Her instructions are clear along with what she is grading us for. Our class would present and we'd give each other feedback and critique, and share a bunch of laughs. You have to write 3 fictional narratives, along with a blueprint to help us when we write, and a small intro story about ourselves.

Very easy-going and enjoyable professor. I took her for 131 so it's a creative class, but she really let's her students divulge into their creativity. She made me a better writer and she is a super sweet person. I would recommend her classes to any English majors.

I took her for African Literature ONLINE. I have also had her in person. She is very caring and makes the lectures fun! The work is very straight forward and its mostly short reads, like poems. She also posts a weekly video explaining the work for the week. She is not a tough grader and overall well rounded. I would suggest Prof Mahabir to anyone!

This course was pretty straight forward, super easy just do the work and you will pass with flying colors. We only had two papers to write, which included turning in a draft. Discussions required us to read poems, and give our point of view.
