Great Lady! Very dynamic.

I was in joyce's class almost two semesters ago, and she was wonderful, i learned so much in her class!

very helpful and fun too!

She is very enthusastic about her subject and her students. She is always there for her students even reguarding non-school issues. Her teaching style really has nothing to do with her test since she gets those out of the book.

Our class always was getting into politically based discussions in relation to the material, and she always remained neutral which was a nice change from many other teachers who are very opinionated.

Very good teahcer. All she asks is that you try. If you review the material BEFORE class and study a couple days BEFORE tests, it's a gauranteed A. Take your time on the paper. Good woman!

Come guys this is not 2nd grade! She is a great teacher if you ask for help. I remember numerous time where i have asked and she helped me to the best of her ability. But she also wants you to find out stuff on your own and if you guys can't do that by now THEN DON'T GO TO COLLEGE!!!

Ms. Fountain is the best teacher I've ever had, I'm suprised by the negative oppinions in this rating. I think we all have to realize that good teacher is the one that makes you study hard, and that is what she's doing. She's a cool lady. She doesn't want to "spoonfeed" you. We're in college people, don't expect to be given everything. If you ask, I guarantee she'll enlighten you. I expect the rest of my professors to be similar to her as I advance in my college career.

I can't believe anyone could degrade Ms. Fountain. If you go to clss and read your text,you'll pass. That's it! Oh! and use the website provided with the book.

Ms. Fountain was by far one of my favorite teachers at ECC. She is fun, and energetic and allows for real conversation and disccusion to happen in her class. Tests werent bad if you studied...and projects helped your grade, because she graded those easily.

I learned a lot about myself and sociology. She was a great teacher and offered a lot of opportunity to earn extra credit while broadening our horizons.

Joyce Fountain is one of the best teachers that I have ever had. She really cares about her students.

She was great. She was always helpful and I still talk to her even though I have finished her class. She treats all her students fairly and if you actually open your book you'll get an A.

took on-line, gave timed test w/out enough time. Does not answer e-mails quickly or at all. Did not offer any objectives or class notes-100% self taught out of book. Would not take her again.

Very knowledgable in sociology. She glows and is always happy! The class isn't hard at all if you just read the book. Definitely reccomend her, she gives lots of extra credit too. Very personable

Have had Joyce for Soc 100 and 209, You are responsible for reading the textbook and powepoints if you actually do this you will get an A. Soc 209 has way to many videos but I enjoyed the class. If you have the opportunity to take a class with her I say do it, its a great experience.

Amazing Teacher! One of the best! Yes,you have to read, but the weekly quiz is easy. She will go out of her way to help you if you just ask.Fun class. She tries to make you think. Always points out how the concepts relate. She always lets you know what is important. I wish all my teachers could be more like her.

She is cool teacher, who gives quizzes online, for which you have to do self study, so better take the course online..

She teaches a very difficult subject and really challenges one to think and look at the issues. She will require many reflection papers. It is a great class and she does a great job.

Ms. Fountain is definitely an interesting character. Her class is not easy, but I learned a lot about myself through lecture. She is good at relating things to current events. Helped me understand what sociology was about. Only thing I didn't like was that we would lecture the next chapter, but previous chapter test would not be until the next week

Would say she is a pretty good teacher. Gives a lot of quizzes and test. You definatly have to read the book. She also has you do 2 papers and a presentation. She is a fair grader.

Yes, she is terribly disorganized and she dosn't really TEACH anything, but what were you expecting to get out of Sociology anyways? She is a fun teacher, and as long as you arent lazy and read the book, you can get a good grade in the class, especially since she gives TONS of extra credit.

I took her telecourse and did pretty good. You have to follow the syllabus and study guide and review the chapters. She was flexible when I did not turn in my work exactly on the deadline. Wish she taught more sociology telecourses.

I took the course online and it was not difficult. As long as you keep up with the due dates. You do write two essays throughout the semester. Is hard to get a hold of the teacher as she tends to take her time to e-mail back. She posts grade kind of late as well. Other that I enjoyed taking the course online.

Took the online class. Pretty self-paced. Not a hard grader. I'd take her class again in a second. Really enjoyed the material as well.

She's actually really good. People might not like her cuz she makes us do lots of work. online quiz every week and exams every 2-3 weeks. its good tho cuz it helps bring up grades. Her exams are really easy too if you actually do the online quizes. Shes so funny!

If you can take her online, then do it. I took her in person and all she talked about was how much she doesn't like white people and males. She never taught us a thing. You take quizzes online weekly, but the answers are in the back of the textbook (you're welcome). Tests are ok. She offers a ton of EC though, which makes the class much much easier

The instructor is easy to reach by phone during her office hours. Professor Fountain can be tough with assignments just like any other professor if you are looking for an instructor to babysit you she is not right for you, if you want to apply your self and earn a good grade then I highly recommend her!

Well, this class was pretty much a "read the book, regurgitate the information many times" type of deal. It was very straight forward, but essentially there was no student-teacher interaction at all. I feel like I would have gotten more out of the course if she were more present. But, got an A, can't complain.

Best professor ever. She's passionate about what she teaches and cares about her students. Anyone who says different isn't used to dealing with a woman who is the real deal. She's old school and isn't afraid to tell it like it is. If you are going to take Racial & Ethnic Relations, take it with her! She will leave you inspired to make a difference.

I looked forward to her class every Tues & Thurs, we always had a good time, while also learning about important topics in our society. Textbook WILL be needed for tests, so do your reading, make sure you meet original deadlines for assignments (she tends to be lenient), and you will do just fine. Would take her class all over again!

If you're a student who needs their hand held throughout the semester, Joyce is not for you. There is a lot of freedom in her classes and she expects that you are a college student who can handle themselves without being guided through every single thing. She will push you to open your mind. Everything else has to come from YOU.

I liked Ms. Fountain. I took her for Soc 100 and Soc 209, she was very real and honest about our class conversations. I felt that she pushed the boundaries and made people actually talk about racism in our society. There was a lot of reading for Soc 100 but not so much Soc 2019.

I loved taking Sociology with Joyce! She is one of those professors that will do anything to help you succeed as long as you work for it. She also talks about the things that nobody wants to talk about and makes you think of things in a whole new perspective. I am so glad that I took her class!

She was great! I took this as an online course so you didn't really have the face to face interaction but she was still available if you wanted to email. This was my first college course and she seemed to care about each student so I would recommend taking her online Sociology class.

Joyce is a woman that is bold, caring, and real. Be prepared to learn the material you're quizzed and tested on in your own time though because she likes to use class time for group discussions about current events relating to class topics. Overall, any class taught be her will be extremely valuable!

All I had to do to pass this class with an easy A is study the vocabulary. The lectures were interesting and they were helpful in understanding the information better. Professor Fountain is hilarious and she normally lets students have a chance to submit online quizzes late. There is a quiz every week. One of my easiest classes, definitely enjoyed!

Fountain is amazing. She's hilarious & kind hearted and wants you to do well. There's one online quiz a week, and if you miss she'll probably open it up for you. There's 5 tests which are a little hard but study key words & people and you'll be good. Last two tests she gives extra credit or group options. Only thing is she can be hard to email.

This class is so easy. One quiz a week online which you can look up, five tests which some are online too, and only like two papers. She's hilarious

I love her a lot but she can be very disorganized at times. Not sure what things were due and when they were due by for most of the year. She is a real gem and cares so much about the topic. She is so funny and super real.

Simple outline that is easy to follow; discussion post & response, quizzes, tests, and two papers. She even gives opportunities for generous extra credit. I would definitely recommend this class!

she's AMAZING! Take the quizzes online for each chapter, only 2 writing assignment's which aren't at all difficult. NO FINAL! The study guide for the 5 exams are at the end of each chapter for the section. time flies when you're in her class, she jokes around with students which makes her awesome. if you fail, you're a moron. easiest class ever!

Joyce is a great professor who is very passionate about what she does and being in a position to make change. Yes she does talk about racial views in this country and wants everyone to understand the truth behind racism. And how race is a huge problem still in this country today. She teaches us about real history and what they didnt teach us in HS

One of my favorite professors and her lessons have stuck with me as I am now a social worker and therapist. She really inspired my love for sociology.
