not very exciting about the topic
Rough tester, not easy to get along with, rather boring
Anyone who gave this instructor a bad rating does not belong in college!.
Ummm....yeah, she sucks. She doesn't know what is going on...at all.
boring teacher, easy grading, if you take 350 you will know more about her childs problems than drugs
Her lectures are clear. Her test are semi-easy and papers are exceedingly easy. You must read the chapters to get good grades. She very nice and you'd have to be stupid or not show up to classes to bad in her class.
Great Professor, learned more about Psych than any other class. Looking forward to taking again.
shes very nice, but her class is so borrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiinggggggggg, you sleep through it, but shes nice, just so boring, no in class activity at all, so you better pass all 5 exams, no extra credit at all, just 5 exams, but so boring, but she is very
Her classes are interesting, but nothing from lecture is on the test. She's a nice lady, but very vague on what she expects from students and how to prepare for exams.
What is this woman doing teaching, she's a nut!!! Her tests are way harder than they need to be for this class. I think she has an obsession with birds, rats, and cats!
She is a very nice lady. She is pretty easy...all she has is tests and if you study the notes you should be ok. Make sure you look over the book though, cause she never goes over anything in the book, but yet expects you to know what is covered.
She is very knowlegeable and easy going. Don't talk during class! Her tests are easy if you study the book, and she will tell you what to study for the most for exams. She seems kind of dry at first but is a VERY nice lady.
She is extemely nice and very fair. Tests are moderate in difficulty but you MUST read the book and then try to figure out what she will deem important to know. I would take her class again.
I really liked her. She was very interesting and helpful. The test were not bad but you have to study both the book and the notes.
I had her for both drugs and human behavior and learning theory I loved her.... she's easy cause she gives you exactly what she wants but you still walk away knowing your stuff I's definately take her for everything.
Very nice as everyone said. Not alot of extra course work, just the exams. She is very clear as to what to know. Very fair. Class is somewhat boring just b/c there is alot of material to cover in short time & too bad we cant discuss more in class, although she does try to answer questions brought up
Dr. Jagielo let's you know what she expects from the beginning. She is very clear and most of what's on the test is from lecture.
Read the notes and the book. Class attendance isn't required, but if you want to pass the tests you'd better be there most of the time. A lot of stuff from class is on the test. Very nice professor. Curves tests and throws out questions a lot to help out her student's grades. Would take her again, if I didn't hate psych.
She was very condesending and spent more time telling stories that didn't relate to the subject than teaching. Exams were confusing, unclear, and I swear most questions had 2 answers. I read everything and never missed a class. Being a psych major, I wish I would've taken it with someone else so I could've enjoyed it and learned more.
OK...Yes, her class is very difficult, BUT if you keep up with the reading and pay attention in class you'll do fine. Her notes are very well-organized, not a lot of effort in taking them. Great sense of humor-tells a bunch of stories for examples. One note of warning! Do Not talk during class, she will go off on you.
She is great, I have heard her before and would take her again, she is a very wonderful and caring professor. She is very helpful and willing to help. She is an asset to Edinboro University and to the Psych Department. Great Professor
WORST CLASS EVER! lecture was totally different than what was on the tests, quiet and hard to hear. Very set in her own ideas and didnt answer questions clearly. Tests were impossible (100+ m/c per test!) Read the book and pray to pass!
She is a decent professor who can be challenging. She is a little set in her ways, though. You must read the text to get above a B. If you want to learn something, she won't disappoint you. And her grading system is very fair. After two courses, I would take her again.
For being what i thought would be an exciting class turned out to be pretty boring. Lectures were tedious. She offers extra credit and curves tests (mainly because everyone in the class desperately needed it!) Reading the textbook is REQUIRED to pass. She offers a list of items that may be on the test (hardly a study guide). Tests are hard!!
Good professor. I wouldn't take her if you need the proffesor to cover everything that's going to be on the test. She often only touches on one subject during her lectures. If you're comfortable learning from the book then this is a great class. She's smart, nice and she curves all the tests
I thought this class would be interesting but it was soo boring! I couldn't make it through 2 hours (summer class). Shes a nice person, but teaches a boring class.
She showed up at least 5 minutes late every day, the tests were pretty easy even if you didn't study. She lectures all class and it got pretty boring but she didn't totally suck. I got an A.
She spent to much time on the simple things and not enough on the more difficult things. I never though I'd say this but there is not enough homework, it is a math class so repatition helps with understanding. She is very nice but I wouldn't recomend her for this class, any other class but not Stats.
Very sweet person. The test were difficult because of the wording and the exams are does not match lectures.
Aging. Dr. Jagielo is very nice and smart. She can be quiet, so sit in the front. I learned a lot, but my complaint is that more than half of the tests are straight from the book and not taught. She gives out a study guide though, so you know what she's looking for on the test. Do the study guide and read and you should be fine. I got an A.
This lady knows what she's talking about. Very smart. She gets a bit irritated with the class at times. The tests aren't always on lecture, if at all...mostly what's in the book which is kind of irritating. I'd take her again though.
very interesting, enthusiastic, funny, just gets a little annoying when she laughs at her own jokes. real cool at the beginning of the semester but got pretty cranky towards the end. 4 easy tests, but you have to read the book. good teacher!!
Extremely boring lectures that don't really match the tests. Must do the reading assignments and your grade is only based on tests. The class is pretty easy if you can stand sitting through her lectures.
Welcome to the real world of college. Dr. Jagielo will seperate the men from the boys! Lectures pertain to the course. Exams require you to read the book! (It's college people!!!) She is fair and knows her stuff. I highly recommend her if you really want to learn anything. I've taken four of her courses and have always managed to get an A.
Read the text!! Test do not match study guides. Boring lectures. She focuses on 1-2 people that she directs questions too, or listen to their examples; as if no one else is in the room. Wish I would have taken another psych class. Psych majors, take another teacher if possible.
Psych Majors AND Non-Psych Majors... She makes it seem like a breeze. and will stay on 1-2 tops the whole class period. Skipping all important topics and really states the obvious. I learned to just block her out and take my own notes and read the texts as "my own lecture". I was getting F's until I stopped listening.
Her lectures have little to do with the exams and she does not follow the book. But if you don't read you'll fail. She gives a study guide a week before the exam. However, she sometimes curves, and gives some bonus. It's not bad if you read and understand the main topics on the study guide.
Learning Theory. Please note: Take it with Dr. Edwards. If you choose to take it with Dr. Jagelo, attend class but just read the textbook, it will help you more. Her lectures don't match up with exams, which are harder than some grad exams I have taken. READ THE BOOK!!!! DO EXTRA CREDIT IF OFFERED!
Right? Well, at any rate...
Does not stay on task, test questions are worded poorly, doesn't talk about anything from the book until you get the study guide, yet doesn't LIST a full study guide. Horrible prof, would not recommend to my EX, let alone anyone of ANY major.
Warning! If ur thinking about take stats w/ this professor you must be dreaming. She is horrible. I barely passed the class & believe me it was a nightmare being there. My best advice to you is to do real good on the homework.Buying the book for both the clas & lab class is a waste of money trust me.Choose another professor if possible:(
Very nice woman and very interesting class. You MUST read the textbook and take notes to do well on the tests!
Seriously, I've had two classes with Jagielo and have gotten A's or B's in both, but she is one of THE worst professor's I have ever had at Edinboro. She's a very nice lady, but the way she teaches is horrible. Her appearance is so unprofessional and she is almost always late. Try not to take her unless you really have to.
She was the worst teacher I ever had. She was completely useless when it came to needing help, and her grading is completely messed up.
Not a very good teacher. Often gets off topic and 75% of the lectures were useless. Read the book and do the extra credits and you can pass. It'll be boring and you'll get sick of hearing "at any rate."
I took Psy319 two years ago and ended up with a D +. Second time around, I took it online and ended up with a failing grade. There is no getting passed her and all of the times I tried to contact her about my grades never happened. I have a 3.75 GPA and nothing ever "added up" with her grading...
Disappointment. First time, I ended up with a 69.88 (NOT A 70) So, I could not get a credit for Psyc. Second time, nearly the same ordeal (67%) Worse. THIRD time I literally failed... This lady cannot be serious... Unfair.
Ive taking her two times and its about to be my third. I need this class for my major and no one else teaches it. She makes no sense and i am dreading taking this class again. If you can avoid it then DONT TAKE IT.
I found this class difficult. lectures are usually irrelevant to the tests. online quizzes were tough. tests are from the book. READ THE BOOK! and do the study guides. i got a B on all my tests from reading the book and study guide. take someone else for this class if possible. nice lady though
Seriously I took her fall semester 2011 and ended up with an A! You just need to read the book, come to class, and look forward and expect to learn. Your grade depends on how hard you actually try.
I took her psychology of aging online. She obviously does not prefer online. I thought she was overly demanding with the work load. She gave us so much weekly work that assignments weren't graded 6 weeks back. A lot of her quizzes were unnecessarily hard. I got an A and I learned a lot but I thought the class was stressful.
She scares me & is unapproachable. DO NOT talk in class. Attendance is optional. Read book word for word and don't waste your time on the notes she gives you for tests. She gives a study guide which is helpful. 5 tests, cumulative final, 1 course project. She is kinda scary but the class itself isn't as hard as people make it out to be.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!! nice lady but the worst psychology professor ever. Her test are worded very hard and the class throw the semester very stressful. This type of stress is unnecessary giving to the students. I read the book, made my own study guide, didn't miss day of class and did the paper project and stile straggle in her class.don't take her
Horrible. Worst professor I have ever had in the psychology department. Her lectures are irrelevant to the test material. Her study guides are one word terms that relate to broad concepts all out of the book. She doesn't return your tests so you know what material to study for the cumulative final. Horrible, horrible, horrible professor. Retire!
Like the comment below mine, her lectures were irrelevant to the test material, minus the movie for exam 4/5. She doesn't return tests to know what we needed to improve on and she wasn't very engaging as she lectured.
She teaches what she wants and expects you to learn th e rest yourself through the book, but its is a lot of information, especially if you are not a PSYC major. She got snappy at a girl in class once for asking a question while she was lecturing.
HORRIBLE. The class is a ridiculous amount of reading, note taking, and studying. Thoroughly understand everything because her tests are difficult. She isn't very helpful and doesn't answer questions well. If you can, do NOT take her. I hear she's very hard on grading in other classes (all of these tests were mult. choice)
TERRIBLE. Not only is she extremely rude when you ask her a simple question, but she is completely unwilling to help students in any way and she's technologically challenged. She is so incredibly lazy too, as you can tell by the way she presents herself. I would highly recommend NOT taking any of her courses if at all possible!!
Dr. Jagielo is by far the worst professor I have had at Edinboro. She does not provide organized notes to copy down at all. Attending class is pretty much a waste of time because you need to study the book for an excessive amount of hours. She also is a professor who does not try and help you if you are a good student and trying to help your grade.
It is confusing to me that this person is a professor. Seems to dislike people in general, especially students, especially if they ask a question. So hostile at times that it made me uncomfortable. Lectures seemed unprepared, and had absolutely no relevance to the tests. Syllabus would make a paranoid scizo proud; has a rule for everything.
horrible teacher, never taking a class again with her again. idk why they still let her teach with all the complaints i heard about her. wish someone wouldve told me not to take her before i did
I'm just about done with her class for the semester and I know for a fact I'm failing. Her lectures are pointless and do not help you on the tests.. If you ask her a question sometimes she snaps especially at the end of class when she wants to leave. If you can take another professor this class isn't worth the stress.
Though she is helpful, she is extremely nit picky about grading. The material could be very easy, but she always finds a way to take off points from your work, even when you think you're doing everything extremely specifically. This class should be an easy A, but it's not.
I think she is a smart and fair professor. If you go to class and read the book you will be fine. She is challenging, but I enjoyed her class and learned a lot!
DO NOT TAKE HER. Don't make the mistake of wanting to "take on her class as a challenge" like I did. She is extremely picky, downright rude and is completely unwilling to help her students. LONG WINDED AND NEVER GETS TO THE POINT. I feel terrible for anyone that is forced to take her class. Especially if you aren't a psych major. Good luck.
Shes really a great professor. Brilliant and kind, and gives you opportunity to do well if you apply yourself. The material is easy when you actually try.
DO NOT TAKE HER. If you are not an "average student" and need extra time taking her quizzes(online especially) she does not care. I'm a nursing student so I'm not stupid and i can surely say I'll never take her again. DO NOT take her online course. Her "study guide" for midterm and final are 3 pages of sections to reread in the book. Ridiculous
I did not enjoy this class unfortunately. I took it because I have liked my psych courses in the past, but she made it so much harder than it had to be. She means well, but just doesn't display it right. Grading of our weekly essays was awful, even for the most well written essay I never scored above 70%. I won't be taking any of her other courses.
Dr. Jagielo makes what you must do for the class clear as day. You will need to put in the effort, but if you communicate with her and pay attention, everything will be ok. Like most teachers, be nice and participate. If you don't do that, then of course the class may be difficult.
I had a horrible time with her Drugs and Human Behavior class. She says she doesn't want you to use any outside information, but at the same time she doesn't want you to use the information she provides either. While her instructions are "clear," she grades way too harshly and the messages she sends are rude and dismissive. Would NOT recommend!
Her class drags on and on and on. She does off on these really irrelevant tangents and her the stuff she talks about in class isn't even on the tests, you just have to teach yourself from the book. She seems like a nice lady but she is very old school in her ways of teaching. I would not recommend.
Learning Theory is a required course for Psych Majors. This class was awful. Lectures were long and boring, never energetic or interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, but you are better off reading the book and teaching yourself.
I would not recommend taking this class. She gives you study guides for the test but there is 3-4 Chapters on there that she hasn't remotely spoken about in class. You basically have to teach yourself. Plus the final is cumulative and she doesn't give old tests back. Not only do you have to teach yourself, but you don't even know what you got wrong
I was absoutelutly appalled by how she treated our one handicap student in the class. Whenever he had questions she was completely rude to him and would roll her eyes. As for the class if you dont read the book front to back you wont pass the tests. The syllabus she gave us was wrong and we ended up havin a test plus the final on final day.
Great professor. Classes may be daunting but as long as you pay attention and read the parts of the book she highlights in her study guides you should have no problem getting an A. Actually makes you think critically and utilize the information rather than cram and forget. I've taken 3 classes with her already and plan to take more.
There is an exam on three chapters about every two weeks. It wouldn't be that difficult but she expects you to know all the information from the book for all three chapters when she lectures the same material for two weeks straight. This means you leaned maybe a section of one chapter for a three chapter test. Do not ask questions, she will be rude
Every exam is straight from textbook sometimes she puts stuff on exams not from the textbook or learned in class. Talks the entire time with eyes closed, goes over 3 slides each class w/ 10 words on each, rants about personal stories and tangents related to content. Be prepared to wait 2-3 weeks to go over your exams w/ tutor NOT her, never again.
This is the worst professor I've ever had. She does not lecture the material in the book but expects you to know everything. She gets off topic during class. She does not allow students to see their tests and what they missed. She is mean when answering questions. I would not recommend taking this course with this professor, she is the worst
Dr. Jagielo is the worst professor I have had. She talks with her eyes closed and rambles on for the whole class about her life and gets off track very easy. I would not recommend to take her if you don't have to. Make sure you read the book. All her exams are from the book and she does not lecture anything from it, so you're on your own.
Absolute worst professor at Edinboro. I never say this but this class is impossible. I over studied for her exams and i mean reading the whole book and writing down everything she said. BUT STILL questions appear on the Exams that we never learned about and have nothing to due with the class. Dont feel bad if this class ends but being your first C.
We had 14 weekly essays over the semester & she takes the best 10/14, but dont skip any, DO THEM ALL to the best of your ability because she grades them harshly, follow her instructions closely. We had 5 online quizzes that were ridiculously hard & you had less than 1min per question. Midterm & final were ok, easier than quizzes.
Taking PSYC319 online was a mistake. Each week there are essays due and she is very critical. There are 5 D2L quizzes 30 questions each with only 30 minutes to complete them. It's imperative that you know your material. The midterm and final exam are 100 questions each all multiple choice. The tests are difficult and poorly worded.
Her test questions are mostly nonrelevant to what she discussed in class. One hundred question final worth 30 points. Absolutely impossible to get an A on final project.
I took her last year online (I recommend). There was a short paper due every week, but if you followed her instructions closely and wrote exactly what she was looking for I usually got a 10/10. Midterm/final questions are exact concepts off of study guide so read up on those (92 on both). Quizzes were difficult. Barely got an A but it was doable.
Here is the thing about Dr. Jagielo, she really is a nice person. She is very quick to respond to emails and is willing to help. Her problem is she is extremely particular and can come off as a little rude with her responses. Also one of the major issues is her instructions sometimes are not clear and is hard to decide on what she wants from you.
-Very harsh grading on non stated items -Long lectures that leaves students more confused -Condescending language (lectures are pre-recorded) -Not helpful with concerned students (sends to the tutor) -Requires extensive amount of "shown work," even if using a graphing calculator -Not enough time for exams, which require hand written work as well
-Lectures are extremely long compared to information given -Tests are based on the book more than the lectures (even technical jargon, which isn't required for an undergrad) -Confusing questions in exams -No other grading opportunities other than exams -Zoom test rooms, which have a lot of problems, but refuses to look into other methods
Dr. Jagielo seems very nice. I'll start with that. However, we are required to be on video twice a week and her lectures are terrible. Her voice is grating and she will just go on and on about animals. The only reason I do okay on exams is because of reading the textbook.
I recently wrote a review of Dr. J when having her online. Though I did not think she was bad, she was a difficult professor. Now, having her in person is 100% better. She is very nice and thorough with her examples. She may take a while to explain a concept but is overall very nice. Just read and study, youll be fine.
Has 5 exams. Don't fail Bc you're screwed. Lecture is not on exams, all from the book that she doesn't tell you about.
She is an extremely hard teacher, read and learn the book. She doesn't mention the book at all but all of the exams are based on the book and barely on her lectures.
The tests are very book heavy. The book is online too, which personally is harder for me to work with. The notes themselves are very detailed and helpful for the exam. The class is interesting, but definitely a hard topic.
She is a relic when it comes to her time at EU as she has been there 20+ years. This definitely has disadvantages as she is set in her ways and truly despises technology. She is not lenient in the least. I had her course online, but people in person had it just as bad. I would tell you to not take her online, but truly dont take here at all.
Dr. Jagielo is a sweet lady, no doubt. However, I found her class extremely difficult. It's imperative that you read the book since you never really know what to expect from the exams. The way she presents the material is also complicated in my opinion. I don't think I would take her again if I didn't have to.
She is not at all lenient with grading homework or late assignments.
I've had 3 prior psych classes and I've never had such a difficult time learning. Her material is presented in a convoluted manner and her lectures are not on the test - but she'll tell you they are. She took offense when I read from the original researcher instead of the material she presented. Since when is additional information bad?
Worst teacher I have ever taken. Her lectures make now sense and she teaches stuff that has nothing to do with the assignment you are currently working on. Also, if you make a mistake on an assignment you can bet she will call you out the next day in class. Worst teacher ever, do not take.
You should avoid her classes like the plague. I have never had such a difficult time learning. In the rare chance she actually lectures, it makes zero sense. She's very confusing when explaining assignments because they were either due weeks ago or are three assignments ahead. Expectations/instructions are very unclear and rubrics are nonexistent.
Would never take a class with her again but she seems to be the only professor that instructs mandatory classes. In a way feels like a set up for individuals to fail.
I'm a straight A student and I work hard to maintain that. This professor is a person who should not be a teacher. She's rude to students in class and unhelpful. She does not represent Edinboro well at all. Avoid.
I had Doctor Jagielo last year and need to take her once again, it's miserable. Jagielo can be a sweet lady but will make you regret going to college. She is condescending and never makes any sense. Her lectures are like nails on a chalkboard, they are hard to listen to, and her tests are all based on the book that she doesn't tell you about.
She seems... sweet, at least I thought so, but the lectures and assnts were convoluted. I really didn't like that she ONLY released details on how to do well on assnts like, 1-2 class periods before they're due so THE CRUNCH IS BAD. Irrelevant lecturing at times. Just overall hard to work with...only squeezed an A with extra cred
I took her for Research Methods class. It doesn't feel like she is trying to teach anything, but more so pointing out what is wrong with anything you write. She is tough on grading, even if you believe you are a semi-good student. She wants you to know every part of the material before she goes over it. Please avoid.
Has got to be the WORST professor at pennwest universities. Teaches you nothing and then makes fun of you for not understanding what was said. Gives horrible/ harsh grades and horrible yet extremely hostile feed back on papers. Would never take a class with her again even if my life depended on it
She is a super tough grader despite barely teaching any material. She's also exceptionally rude to students that ask questions.
She is terrible at teaching and will not help you if you ask. She will cover maybe 1 chapter out of the 5 she will put on the exam and then complain to us that we are not trying. She will come to class with wet, nasty hair in sweatpants and and a pj shirt. She is not nice and seems to pick on students that are POC. Would never take her again.
Professor Jagielo can be challenging, but engaging with her teaching style pays off. The lectures are dense but valuable - just stay focused and use resources like the textbook and Unstuck study for study prep. Overall, a rewarding class if you put in the work.
just don't, you'll regret it
This girl was my advisor and she doesn't know how to do her job, she takes months to respond to emails. Didnt answer a single one of my questions and told me to email someone else. She doesn't care about students.
This professor has a terrible grading style and basically makes up her own rubrics as she grades papers
Horrible. She doesn't grade things for weeks—when she does, she is incredibly harsh and condescending. She does not provide any clear feedback. It seems she grades based on whatever she makes up in her head. She becomes irritated if you use the textbook "too much." Requires many articles to be read, but then the quizzes are based off the book.
