she's great! I really am terrible with computers and she made it interesting, useful and easy to understand. I had her 7 AM class, which would have been okay if she didn't have such a screechy voice..and she is borderline ditzy! but she is cute and fun. go to class, she is very helpful and sometimes gives you time in class for hw.

She's straight-forward and to-the-point, none of the fluff but not overly difficult. A class you have to work a bit for (really, not much. Most homework done in class) but also a class you learn a ton from. Take 1700 from her.

Excellent Instructor. Course material was useful, expectations were clear, and the instructor was extremely helpful. I'd take a class again from Joyce Porter in a heart-beat. She's great!!

She is amazing. I really like her a lot. She helps with anything and everything. She is a very good instructor and would never make anyone feel dumb. I have her back 100%. Take this course from Porter.

I LOVED HER! she was one of my favorite professors! Very helpful! I understand the programs very well now because of her. The hardest part about the class was the chi tester test but everything else was fun. She give you time to do homework in class which was great which made no homework for me. Porter is the best TBE instructor!

This was probably the best class I've take at WSU thus far. Joyce is very approachable and super easy to work with. The assignments took work. I learned a very valuable skill in this class. I highly recommend taking this course from Joyce.

The best for web design. Made Dreamweaver fun to use. She always was on top of the latest things happening in design. Fun class!

She is an okay teacher, I wish somehow that I didn't have to use the book. We rarely did use it so it felt like a waste of money. You should probably share a book with a friend or something. I can use Microsoft Office 2007 a lot better than I did before taking this class.

This class is a pretty easy one, and the professor is really easy to understand. You pretty much follow the text book through class. Assignments are really close to the tests. Attendance is pretty major. My suggestion would be to attend as often as possible because confusion happens really easy when class is missed.

Love this professor! She's one of the few who genuinely wants you to succeed and will help you do it. This class was a little hard at first since I had absolutely zero experience with DreamWeaver but by the end of the semester I was able to create totally rockin' websites thanks to Joyce. :)

She's alright.Kinda funny. But the pace gets very difficult to keep up with. She moves super fast. If you sneeze, you will miss like 5 things! You have to catch every word. Homework is mostly done in class though, so there isn't a lot of take home.

Mrs. Porter was a pretty good professor. She taught a class that was pretty comparable to Jr. High or High School computer class. I was pretty fluent in MS Office before the class so i found it easy. However if you're not ready for a fast pace class, make sure you take it for a full semester not a half one. She moves quickly but will answer q's.

I loved her! She was so helpful. As long as you go to class you will get your assignments done and get good scores on the exams.

She made Web design totally fun and creative! She helped me so much to design quality pages. For a MultiMedia class at Weber she's the one!

Professor Porter really knows her stuff, and I learned a lot from her. Although she does go really fast, you can still keep up if you're paying attention. She's very clear in her instructions, and most of the homework can be finished in class. I really respect Prof. Porter and would definitely take another class from her.

Joyce is a great teacher. She moves fast really fast, but if you know a little about computers you will do fine. She made sure I knew my stuff. Has a great personality. LOVE THIS TEACHER!

Totally recommend her! She does go very fast so YOU CANNOT MISS CLASS otherwise you'll get loss. She is very helpful too and I learn alot. We take test every 2 chapters but they were pretty easy. You do have to create a website for your final project but she gives you at the end lots and lots of lab time.

If you use Microsoft Powerpoint on a frequent basis, you'll be just fine. Just follow the textbook and do the course as instructed. I didn't even have a basic knowledge of PowerPoint and this was very easy.

I took Joyce's Web Design course in the Spring 2012 semester, and I loved it. Some of my classmates slowed us down a bit, but Joyce was great. She was always happy to help when I had questions. As long as you follow the instructions in the book, and keep up with the assignments, you will do fine.

Porter is a good teacher! She may go fast sometimes but always helps you if you are lost! Uses class time well. Almost all of the assignments are done in class! Little to no homework if you go to class!

The BEST! Took class Spring Semester. Loved Joyce! Web design was challengging. I plan on taking other classes in multemediea, hopefully from this teacher.

I liked her class.Assignments are done in class so they get done much faster with her help and you don't have homework. The book isn't necessary if you’re always in class but it is helpful especially if you get behind. Never boring. Fast paced but if you don't know where you are tell her and she'll help you catch up. Not a bad class. Learned a lot.

Awesome Professor

This professor is very funnyind, and easy to work with. At times she can be all over the place, but that is what made the class fun. Attimes I'd even say she's kooky. I thought at best I'd get a B on my final project, but she worked with me and I recieved 127% on it! She is very helpful!

Great teacher. You have to do busy-work discussions every week which are annoying, but otherwise I enjoyed this class. Learned a lot.

Porter is a great. On top of her grading and has assignments set up in advance. Loved her, hated the class. You might as well buy the Adobe Dreamweaver book and go through it yourself because the entire class is running through the book, step-by-step, having your hand held as you do it. Then you build a final website by yourself, on your own time.

Also NTM 1701. Love professor porter! She seems intimidating at first, but she is a really nice person. She is extremely helpful, and very willing to help you inside and outside of class. In 2532 ATTEND class and stop her if you have questions because you will fall behind very quickly if you don't. She will stop the class to help you if needed.

She is a really good professor. She does get confused quite a bit in class, and it can get pretty frustrating. Once you get used to the way she teaches, you can better understand what she is trying to say. She is very willing to help if you need it. Don't ever skip class!! I would take her again if I needed another computer class.

She's a nice teacher and explains thing fairly well. You just need to come to class and do the assignments and what not and you should do well on tests and the class overall.

This class is just work. It's easy to get an A because every assignment has a rubric that you can check against your work, bu you have to figure out how to do most of the formatting on your own, which was tricky. She doesn't grade assignments until the day after they were due, which was frustrating for me when I turned in all the assignments early.

I took the seven week class. It was fast pace but easy. She was always very helpful and responded to questions quickly. Would defiantly take her class again.

Joyce is great! She knows her stuff and moves quickly through the assignment! Come to class and stick with her during assignments and you will never have homework! Test and assignments are basically the same. If you get lost in class you can easily ask Joyce and she will gladly help, or turn to YouTube/Google! Do the assignments and you'll pass.

SHE IS REALLY GOOD AT FEEDBACK AND SHE GOOD AT TELLING YOU WHAT TO EXPECT FOR THE FINAL.

This is a basic computer class required for all majors. Showing up to class is important when it comes to understanding material. If you are a tech person you could get away with not showing up because attendance is not required. But if you do show up to class most assignments are completed as a class. There are 4 exams plus a comprehensive final.

Professor Porter was very helpful and her walk throughs saved my bacon! If something isn't clear she is pretty good about getting back to you. Expect a lot of work. Assignment are time consuming, there are usually two due each week. Study for exams.

I was nervous taking an online class due to bad experiences in the past, but the way this class was organized blew my mind! There is a lot of homework, but through the instructions she walks you through, step by step, how to complete the homework. Tests are exactly like the reviews she has you do. Super easy and super organized class!

Professor Porter was very helpful. She provides good feedback about the assignments and lets you know what to expect on tests. She is also willing to make extra efforts to coordinate with proctor testing sites. The only complaint about this class is the lack of textbook. It's frustrating to have to use Google or YouTube to learn the material.

Joyce is an excellent online instructor. If you have a hard time with Word it could be difficult because I did struggle. I suggest not using a mac (but if you do it is not the end of the world). Answers messages promptly. She will not let you fail if you are willing to put in the work. It's a required course, take it from Joyce Porter!

This is a very easy class, I took it online and finished way before the semester was over. You can finish the class as fast as you would like. There was one group project but it was very simple as long as you do your part you will get the credit for it. Exams are not very hard, they are very similar to the assignments you do. She is very nice also.

Very helpful, responds to emails quickly (even on breaks), and wants to see each student succeed. Easy class as long you put in the work and do the assignments. You see the rubric before submitting, so it's not hard to get an A

I am a returning student, so getting back into the routines of college with all the changes since early 90's was culture shock for me. Ms. Porter was super accommodating and understanding. Quick responses to emails, suggestions on how to prepare. Fair (as opposed to unfair) tester and grader. I highly recommend her.

Assignments are easy to follow. Good feedback on assignments so things are easy for test. Answers emails immediately. Willing to explain anything on assignments.

I've taken only three online classes. This class was easier to follow. Prof Porter had everything outlined and explained in details. She was quick to answer messages. Once I got used to the grading it was right by the detailed rubric. Easy A on assignments. She gave us assignments that were exactly like the tests.

The online class is well set-up. Definitely not an easy A, but if you put in the work, you should have no problem getting a good grade. None of the assignments are particularly hard, just a lot of busy work. I took the class on a Mac laptop, and had no problems! The testing center offers Macs to take the exams on if desired.
