She's picky, disorganized, late, always lets class out late, overcomplicates assignments, is not clear on what exactly she wants (unless it is petty stuff like folders), rambles, and gasconades about her debate team (using class time). Avoid this teacher.
Worst professor I have ever had. The course material was irrelevent to the stated objectives of the class. Rarely answered questions clearly. I dont know a single student that has had her and not hated her at the end of the semester.
All of the below comments are correct. Disorganized, does not answer questions clearly, has odd office hours, assigns busy work, spends very little time teaching the material which will be on the final, instead she has us read stupid monologues. Late alot

I agree! Very unfair grader. If youre not on the debate team and don't run her little gopher errands - good luck. She is never organized, and you never know what youre grade is. Very unclear with assignments.

Very unfair grading, I had her for two classes in a semester and I needed A's in both to be a McMurran scholar. I should never have told her that or met with her to clarify what had to be done on the subjectively graded final- needless to say I got a B in

i got a b but only because i did all the busy work and all the irrelevant speeches. she didnt hand back papers for days so you didnt know where u stood. really tries to get everyone on the debate team, and has a flighty personality.
Dr. Webb is hard, very hard. I recommend her to people that like a challenge and like speaking in front of others. Also, if you are a Comm major, take Webb because she is one of the professors in the department.
It is a very challenging class. I will say at the end of the class everyone had improved so much. Take Webb if you want a challenge and want to improve your communications skills. If your looking for an easy A look elsewhere.

Why does everyone dislike her so much? I have had no problems with Webb, at all. She's very demanding and expects a lot from her students. She tends to go over and nitpicks your speech to death, but if you do what she asks and works on what she suggests, you can easily pass the class.
Off her rocker! Hard! Unreasonable! RUN!!! Run far, far away! I have never worked so hard for a C before.
I don't understand why people think she is so difficult. I thought her class was rather easy and fun as well. I admit she is unclear sometimes, but that's when you ask her to clarify! I don't understand why everyone hates her.
As a person--easy to get along with, as long as you show interest in the class. As a professor--late returning papers, fair directions, and takes attendance. The best part of the class is everyone gets to know each other because nobody likes how she teaches, and so you complain to one another.
Impresssions on Dr. Webb - She's hard. Some things tend to be anal for the sake of being anal. (If the document isn't EXACTLY "x" number of pages, meaning there is no more space for words, period) That is a little excessive. I got a B so i can't complain too much. Outside of class she's nice woman.
Take this class if you want a low GPA...she is very anal and expects too much out of her students. TAKE EDMONDS INSTEAD!!!
Makes you do twice the required amount of work in the courseload. Tries to teach professional complex speech class, not "fundamental" speech class.
she is mean and cruel when giving critiques on your speech in front of the whole class,she gives alot of work and expects you to be at class no matter what when she misses all the time she is the worst RUN!
No actual instruction; just go speak and get nailed for your grade. No leaniency or tolerance for anyone/anything. YIKES. Over half my class had dropped by midterm
I dropped her course 5 minutes after the first class. I knew she was going to be impossible and way more difficult than needed for a mandatory/intro course.
She is difficult, she expects a lot, however, if you just do what she asks ie: margins on paper, outline etc.. and if you actually prepare a speech you will do fine. You have to make the effort in her class, she sees right through the slackers and she will make you PAY.

Loved the class. I had no problems with her. If you don't like to stand in front of a class and talk, then speech classes will be hard for you. Webb expects the best and doesn't settle for less. Dedicated speakers should take her class.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. An example... she missed three classes with no notice then dropped someone's grade for missing a class. Another example... I never turned in anything on time, used the same 5 phonetic symbols for a phonics final and got a b in the class. She doesn't care or teach.
All around miserable teacher/human being.
SPEECH NAZI. Extremely hard. At first I welcomed the challenge, but in the end, it's practically impossible to have a life outside of her class and get an A.

I really enjoyed this class. Alot of people think that she is so hard, but if you give the class a chance, you wont regret it. I learned alot from that class. Even though I had to put alot into the class, I still had fun and got to know many great people that I still keep in contact with from last year. I recommend this class if you want a challenge and dont take criticism harshly. Be open minded in this class.
She's seems like she has psychological issues, she feels like she is the best speech giver, and gets her jollies off of pointing out others mistakes, i.e. governors, presidents, students,pretty much any one who can talk. Thinks speech making is the key to life and makes the requirements way to difficult, even for speech majors. DO NOT TAKE.
She has never been on schedule with the class, and is very unhelpful when it comes to explanation of anything that has gone on. Her expectations in student's speaking skills are entirely too high might I add.
Do not take! She is the debate team leader and does everything by the book. Extremely strict on speeches. Thinks she is God's gift to Shepherd University Communications department.
Voice and diction was like coming to terms with a knife sticking in your thigh. You know you have to pull it out but it's just so painful. Don't work too hard for this class. This woman is an extrememly unfair grader and gives letter grades at will (mostly B's) I worked my ass off for her. Never did i get a graded assignment back, just a B

This is not a good example of how a college professor should be. This woman should be fired for her inability to treat and grade students fairly. I am very disappointed with my experience.
Very unclear on how to do outlines, didnt give out the syllabus until a month into the class. Late all the time and then keeps us late. Doesnt show up for class and gives us no warning. I was recommended not to take her, wish I would have listened.

Ridiculous!!! Her class is designed to make people fail. I think it makes her feel smarter or something. She treats it like general studies speech making will end world hunger. I wouldn't take her again if you paid me.
Alot of people have given Webb bad reviews but she isn't really a bad teacher if you approach her in the right way. Her class isn't easy. She expects work. However if you put in an effort it really pays off. I was in her Fundmentals of speech class and got an A in it. I learned alot and doing her extra credit is a sure fire way to get good grades.
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. We had an assignment and she never gave us the outline like she told us she was going to do. I would not suggest taking her. Rarely shows up for classes, and her debate team is the most important thing to her. DO NOT TAKE HER!!
Prof. Webb is by far a terrible professor. She doesn't care about the students and how they will do. Be prepared to be overly criticized for everything you do and speak about. Grading isn't all that fair. Assignments are given last notice because decate team comes first. Basically, NEVER take webb.
I took her for both Fund. of Speech and Interforensics. I like her so much that I'm definately taking her again in the fall. Her Debate team is utterly awesome and anyone who says she doesn't care about her students hasn't taken this class! Once you signup for the class you'll be utterly hooked on both Debate and Forensics. Personally I love Webb!
different than I expected not all bad younger students do not care for direct style that dr. webb insists on using.
She didnt show up for half of our classes and then gave us all incompletes and made us come back the next semester to give our last speech and it was her fault that we didnt finish it!!! She is a terrible teacher and you should take someone else!!

She is horrible. She is unprofessional(consistantly 15 min late to class), rude, and unappealing in every sense. She will assign a speech, expect you to practice it (in front of others) TEN times a week, and then you have to write a paper on it. There are countless other poor attributes I could go on about, but I can only use 350 spaces. AVOID HER!
DO NOT take her for any class unless you cannot avoid it! She never sends email (I don't even think she knows how to)and you'll be lucky if she even shows up for class (after waiting for 15 minutes)Her salary is a waste of our tuition money! All she cares about is the Debate Team, which she will try to recruit you to(and I strongly advise against).
It's disrespectful that she is indeed consistently 10-15 mins late for class and will leave for extended periods mid-class. She is a terrible listener when it comes to questions from students. However, in in-class evaluations she will be clear about your strengths and weaknesses. Pretty picky grader, sometimes rude. No textbook, no filler classes.

I had to take her, senior capstone. We rarely if ever met, there was little, if any, guidance on what was due or how it should be done, grading was harsh and failure was easy (miss a single due date). Every other department professor assists and still can't clean up her mess. If you're wondering why she's still here... She sued for tenure. No joke.
She is CRAZY! DO NOT TAKE HER! Talks about nothing! She didn't even call me by my name she called me new kid for weeks then I dropped the class. Expects a lot from you.
Be prepared to teach the material to yourself. Learn pages 1-72 in the book to prepare for her midterm. Also, learn the phonetic alphabet. She does not lecture. She has you do readings and critiques of your work. You never get papers back, and she is vague in assignments.
Dr. Webb is one of the most caring professors you will meet. All you need to do is work hard,study, and read your book. She discusses numerous topics in her class. Take her you won't be disappointed. Worth your money.

Poor teaching skills. Each lesson was unorganized and unproductive. She graded students based on personal preference (i.e if you are a part of the debate team, if she likes you, if you suck up). Unfortunately this type of professor/teaching style seems to be the "norm" at this institution.
Kind of confusing and hard to follow. I ended up doing ok which was kind of surprising since I was worried I'd not pass.
She is by far the worst professor/teacher i have ever had in my life! I do not recommend her at ALL! DO NOT TAKE HER! Her teaching skills are no good! She is very rude to her students and expects a lot out of you for just a general course you HAVE to take to graduate! She expects you to be a professional speaker.
i took this class over the summer and she reams your butt for every little thing you do wrong. she does not make it anymore easier to talk in public when she calls you out on everything in front of the entire class...
Don't take this class! You turn in your work on time, don't miss a class and work hard, but nothing is good enough. She's rude-it's her way or the highway. You have to write paper after paper, only to have them torn apart with comments & opinions all over them. No matter how hard you try, nothing seems to be good enough.
She really wasn't very helpful or tolerant of students. She would single out a person's mistakes in front of the class and not in a constructive manner. But I got a B. The joke was that everyone got a B, even if they deserved an A or an F.
Absolutely loved her! She made the class very comfortable. We wrote a lot of papers but it was never overbearing. She pushes you to do well and rates you on your abilities as a speaker, she does not expect perfection. She treats everyone fairly, does point out imperfections but never in an nasty way. She has made me a better speaker.
While Webb is an incredibly hard professor, it is never anything impossible. It is this simple to get a great grade: Attend class, do what she says and how she says it, perform to the best of your ability, and don't expect her to give you an A just because you exist. Work hard, do your best, and you will be fine.
This is not exactly a class in Critical Thinking and Conflict Resolution as you'd imagine it to be; it's essentially a course where you learn debate techniques and practice them. The professor distributes material in a very disorganized, hard to follow manner. She does take personal issue with students and creates an uncomfortable class experience.
The reason you have to take the speech class is because you will need to know how to speak in public and before crowds. Dr. Webb will show you no mercy, and rightly so. She will not sugarcoat your failings as a speaker, and will tell you exactly what you need to hear in order to be a better speaker. Take her and you will be a better person for it!
Dr. Webb is great!! You will have to do the work but it pays off. I was very reluctant but the negative comments don't give her justice. She knows her stuff! And you will by all means come out of this class as a better speaker. The environment of the class is very entertaining and you really get to know the people in your class! TAKE her class!!!
This was my 1st class I have every taken in College and I am so glad that I had Dr.Webb as my professor.The class was fun,but requires a lot of work.She makes public speaking interesting and enjoyable. The class improved my skills as a confident, intellegent speaker.Looking forward to join Debate Team. Dr. Webb is awesome! Thanks so Much!HOT Class
Dr. Webb was wonderful! I learned a lot from this class and I am glad I took this course with her. The classroom atmosphere was nice; I got to know the other students and Dr. Webb had plenty of good stories to tell. There was a lot of hard work but you definitely reap the rewards after. Take this class if you want to be a better public speaker!
Cancelled class for half of the semester, was never on campus, more concerned with her debate team. Avoid at all costs.
