He's pretty cool. He doesn't believe in papers or final exams, so all you have to do to get an A is do well on his weekly quizzes. If you do the reading the night before you should be fine. :)

miserable. he has a thick accent. the quizzes are difficult. he doesn't offer help. he was so boring. i dreaded this class all week. don't take his classes if at all avoidable.

this class was interesting. although class was sometimes boring it was still a good learning experience. there is no final exam just weekly quiezez that you have to read from the book. basically if you read the chapter he asks you to read you shouldnt have a problem getting a good grade in his class. you get free points for attending class

He has a pretty thick accent, but it is usually quite amusing. He goes off on tangents quite over, and rambles on. He rarely finishes his power points. I still enjoy the class though.

Overall the class was not bad. Weekly quizzes can be fairly difficult but if you do the reading you should be fine. The TA's also gave 2 weekly tutoring seesions each which were also very helpful.

He is very knowledgable about the subject. He also does want his students to do well, especially the majors. But I feel like I haven't really learned much other than good test taking skills and how to memorize terms.

If you like easy classes then it'll be okay. All you have to do is show up really. You'll do okay on the quizes but you'll do better if you actually read the textbook. It takes a lot of effort to fail. The material is p much high school level psych we didn't learn anything I didn't already know. Big lecture class and not a lot of discussion.

He was a nice guy with obvious enthusiasm and passion for the field of Psychology. The whole class revolves around the book, so if you just read the one chapter that is assigned each week, and highlight vocabulary, you WILL be fine for the quiz every week

I personally am not a Psychology major and chose this class as an elective. Overall this class was interesting and kept my attention. You really have to read the text in order to pass the quizzes. Great extra credit!

It was overall an okay class. If you show up and study for the quizzes, you should get an A in the class. The professor is a little hard to understand due to an accent, but you eventually get used to it. I would recommend this class to Psychology majors.

The class is pretty easy as long as you read through the assigned chapters. Dr. Choca enjoys telling a lot of random stories, which might or might not be interesting.

Overall the class was pretty straight forward, lecture on Monday, quiz on Wednesday. Sometimes the lectures were irrelevant to the quiz, but overall Dr. Choca is really nice. If you do have a problem with professors with accents then I would think twice before choosing this class. Definitely do-able though!

Every week there's one day for a lecture and the next day for a quiz. There's a Power Point for each chapter as well as ~50 pages in the textbook for each chapter. As long as you show up to class and pay attention to lecture/read, there's no reason why you shouldn't get a good grade.

Class wasn't very exciting. Knows a lot about psyc, but showed really old videos. As a teacher, hes not bad. However, he doesn't schedule his lesson plans according to whats on the quizzes. Random teaching.

This teacher has a heavy accent but the objectives of the class are clear cut. If you read the book and study the power points you will be able to pass the quizzes and the class.

Mostly lectures w/ minimal discussion. Participation = attendance. Weekly quizzes are on chapters that average around 45 pgs each w/ grades returned quickly & make ups are allowed. Uses blackboard to keep track of grades & extra credit is offered, along w/ tutoring sessions by teaching assistants. Just read to pass.

The class is easy but a little boring. Just read the 2-3 page reviews of each chapter in Appendix A of the book to ace the quizzes. Easy A to boost your gpa.

Dr. Choca is really into his job, he is very knowledgable about this class. He does have an accent and is sometimes hard to understand. But overall he is a really nice teacher. Highly recommended.

Dr.Choca tells a lot of cool stories that help us grasps the ideas I'm the book. I don't like not having any tests of finals because its hard to redeem your grade if you fall behind.

it was just a bad class. Easy enough to pass if you just show up, but you won't really learn anything and who wants to sit through a lecture class about stuff you probably already learned in high school.

Dr. Choca does have an accent, which can be difficult to understand at some points. But otherwise he is a really good teacher, he enjoys what he does and makes an effort for everyone to get a good grade in his class! If you just show up and take the quizzes you will do just fine!

If you come to class, listen and then take the quizzes you will do well in this class. It is the same every week so you know what to look forward to and it is not terribly difficult. Just show up and pay attention. Book isn't 100% mandatory.

If you show up to class, and take all the quizzes this class is not hard. If you miss class and don't make up the quizzes you will have a very hard time passing the class. Well worth the grades though.

The class is great! There is a weekly quiz which makes up your entire grade. A movie is assigned every week and they really help to understand the disorders. The only suggestion I have for the course is to learn more about the DSM V and how to go about making a diagnosis.

Dr. Choca is very knowledgeable in the subject of psychopathology. The class lectures were interesting and afterwards he gave students an opportunity for questions and clarification.I enjoyed the class.

Excellent Professor!!! My recommendations for improvement would be, BB discussions on movies and personal experiences with mental disorders. Optional paper for those on the borderline between an A and B grade.

Excellent professor. Went to great length to make the class stimulating. I loved the course structure &format. Using movies to demonstrate mental illness was a wonderful teaching strategy. It provided opportunity to get illustrations of what we learned from text being applied to people. His approach stimulated critical thinking Thanks, Dr Choca

He is a friendly approachable professor. His cadence can lull you, and his accent difficult to understand at time, but he is enthusiastic about psychopathology, and that can make class interesting.

Professor really gives you the opportunity to succeed in the course. Be on top of the chapters. Make sure you READ! Assigns weekly films which are very interesting and relevant to chapter that is being studied that week. Really should take this course only if you can manage your time and READ READ READ.

This class was supposed to be one of the most interesting classes we will take, for me it was very disappointing. My undergrad abnormal class was more interesting, & perhaps because of that I have high standards, but overall this class was not interesting, it was boring and difficult to maintain my attention. It lacked student interaction.

This class can be improved with other opportunities to show comprehension aside from relying solely on quizzes, such as papers or mock case scenarios requiring diagnosis. Also, powerpoint lectures are tired the professor might try other methods in the future to keep class involved.

This class could benefit from other opportunities to test comprehension whether it be research papers or diagnosing case scenarios, relying on reading comprehension and quizzes is not the only way people learn. I really like the overall structure of the class. It is easy to maintain a decent grade as long as you read the chapters and watch the movies. I prefer his method of taking weekly quizzes rather than having a midterm and final. Dr. Choca is very approachable and wants his students to succeed.

Dr. Choca is very approachable and concerned about the students' progress. Doing well in this course is easy if you attend every class, rad the chapters and watch assigned movies. Lecture can be dull at time, so other means of teaching (like case studies and different examples) would be more engaging and helpful in understanding the material.

Very knowledgeable. A big name in personality assessment. Class can be a little slow and expectations for assignments aren't always perfectly clear, but once you figure out what is expected you have the information needed.

Dr. Choca knows a lot about personality assessment, but he is unclear about assignments, which made it harder to do well in the class. He is also not always good about responding to students' emails. Most of the learning comes from the reading, rather than in class lectures.

He was an awesome professor. Organization of lecture was not the best. Overall I wish we would have had more possible points other than just the weekly quizzes which are very DSM and lecture/powerpoint heavy.
