GREAT PROFESSOR, SHE'S ONE OF THE BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD, I TOOK STATICS WITH HER, AND I'M TAKING DYNAMICS NEXT SEMESTER WITH HER ALSO. SHE EXPLAINS VERY GOOD, AND HELPS YOU WITH A LOT OF PARTIAL CREDIT ON QUIZs AND TEST
She's great, very helpful, do the homework show up to class and you're find. Very generous on partial credits.
Absolutely Horrible professor. I don't understand how people can understand her. Very high pitched voice and goes way too fast in class. She explains the problem like if she is just refreshing it for herself. Glad that she understands what she is doing but how about the students? She seemed fair up until exams 2 and 3.
Very Very good prof. if people complain about her is because they are very stupid. She makes you understand EVERYTHING! she cares about students and gives you A LOT of partial credit! very helpful and charming! and plus she's even hot :D
The lab was 1 credit, yet the amount of work involved was worth at least 3 credits. You will learn your stuff with her, but the price you have to pay is a bit steep. This was my second time taking a class with her, and it sure was no different, Lots of work and lots of work.
Used to be better...doesn't seem to care as much...good person.
As everyone before me mentioned, She is very generous in partial credit, however her exams are hard. So what is the point of giving the student very hard exams and pretend to be generous with partial credit? But I have to say: she explains very well. I got a B in the class but found my self know more stuff than those who got an A with the other guy
too difficult and unapproachable
i think she is a good professor who is extremely comfortable with the material. the most difficult part of her class was the 25% of ur grade pop quizzes. if u study extremely hard and not copy homework from the solutions... which everybody has but wont say. u wont pass. passing and getting a good grade in this class requires alot of practice.
Awesome teacher. Very clear in her explanations, gives an example for each type of situation. Do the homework (yourself,NOT the soln manual)& you will be just fine. Might go a little crazy on the weight of some questions in the tests. No pop quizzes in Thermo. Final 40% of grade =/, HW 5% Extra credit. On a side note, I think she is pretty funny!
She teaches very clearly. Tests are just like homework problems. Just do your homework and you'll be fine. If you don't understand anything, just tell her. She is really nice and helpful. I took her for thermodynamics and dynamics. I wish I had her for statics. One of the best teachers I have ever had at FIU. I also think she's kinda cute.
She really knows her stuff, the problem is that she thinks that you know it too and she thinks that she is just refreshing your memory! I don,t recommend her, at all dont waste your time...
Good professor!
Hard professor. Tests are nothing like homework. They always have an extra element you've never seen on any of your homework problems. No curve at all. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone and ill avoid her at all costs.
Dr.Sun knws so much abt the material. She explains well n' gives many examples. However, she expect u to know every details when it come to exams. The exams are extremely hard but u should survive if u REALLY understand the HW...not copying frm the solution. Take it if u serious about learing Thermo. If u don't take it seriouly or u will fail.
Horrible Professor. Goes super fast, thinks we r supposed to know everything before we've even seen it. Exams are extremely hard, she would find the worst exercises for them... AVOID AT ALL COST
Great teacher, moves fast, yet if u stop her she Will repeat until u get it so do that if necessary! I can see she wants students to understand the concept, and how to approach problems and knowing the right method to solve, and does an excellent job with that! in exams, 1 question for each concept and then 1 for all combined. Very sweet teacher!!
I you have to take her for obligation like me, dot take other hard classes at the same time, If you have the option don't get her; I will love to know how put happy faces to this professor.STUDY A LOT IF YOU GET HER!!!
Good teacher but requires an INSANE amount of practice. If you do your hw, and undersatnd it you should be ok. Btw its bad to miss class! Idk why ppl say she is hot.......she is at best average looking
She gives lots of examples and is very helpful, but keep up with the homework assignments!
please, do not listen to those guys that said she is good or even hot. she is the worst professor i have taken.she goes super fast and because she memorized this subject after so many years of teaching she thinks you know it as well. her problems are very difficult.
Attendance is not mandatory but she has pop quizzes. Her explanations are not the best conceptually. She has a method and that is what she goes by. The method works but until you understand the material conceptually the class is hard.
She's one of the most helpful professor's ive ever met, ill admit the class is hard if youre lazy and dont do homeworks and practice, the way she teaches is almost spoonfeeding you just so you understand, i dont understand why others say she doesnt teach very well,I guess we have our own opinions,
You need to try hard but, you will learn.
Took her for Statics and Dynamics. She is very clear and helpful. She wants her students to master the subject. Although attendance is not mandatory, she remembers when you miss class and there are pop quizzes every now and then. The class is very hard and you will have to put a lot of effort into it. If you want an easy ride, take someone else.
Great Professor. You MUST pay attention to everything she explains, trust me you will learn things that you thought would never understand. She is very clear and takes it personal if you do not understand. Make sure to do all hw, there are pop quizzes but are not hard, 2 exams of 4 questions and a final of 6.
Great professor, one of the best at the Engineering Center. Exams are not the easiest, so be prepared to study. If you do the HWs, you should be ok for the exams. Don't miss class!
HANDS DOWN BEST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD! She explains crystal clear, yes her exams are not easy, and the final is the hardest but for the level she explains its all fair, go to class, sit on front, ask questions, and ull do great!
Ill keep it pretty simple. Its a hard class so you have to put a lot of effort. Dont expect to just coast through it. just go to the problem solving classes and do the hw. Sometimes it seems pointless to go but trust me, any little insight on how to do problems helps a lot. She's very helpful and you will learn.
The class is not easy, the homework is not the best to prepare. Do as many problems as possible and try to understand what you are doing. Pop quizzes once in a while be always ready that 20% makes a big difference. Dr. Sun is super smart and super clear. HINT People that had solution manual in hand are retaking the class, do not be mechanic.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR, she is tough and likes discipline students sit n the front pay attention do the homework be prepare for class. And this teacher is for those that like challenge, dynamics, motion and overall engineering, she is not easy going on undedicated students. But shell love you if you show the effort
Bad professor for students that are taking this class for the first time, you already have to know the material because all pop quizzes and exams problems are not all from homework might be one. So, you have to know the material well before taking her class because pop quizzes and exams not from homework are the grades you will get at the end.
Dr. Sun is awesome! She likes discipline and to challenge her students but about the teaching part, she's awesome! homework is not mandatory but extremely helpful, easy quizzes and for the test, if you study enough, they won't be hard at all, the only thing about the exams is that you don't get enough time
i took this professor for dynamics and she explain well but she is hardddd grading and the test are much hardest she doesnt help dont take herrrrr
Awesome professor! She explains everything crystal clear and goes over practice problems... HER CLASS IS NOT EASY but the hw is harder than the actual exams so if you do hw you'll be fine... even the students failing her class ask to retake it with her, not an easy class or an easy professor but she's awesome at teaching
Dr Sun is the best professor I had at FIU, she is crystal clear in her lectures, she has complete mastery over the subjects she teaches. She is an amazing professor. She is tough. Expect to work hard for your grade. HWs are difficult and time consuming. Every engineer must understand that in order to succeed we must work hard and THINK.
Best teacher I've had at FIU. Her discussions are clear. She is extremely prepared for her lectures. Doesn't give much partial credit, what you earn is what you get.
The accent is just too much. I keep thinking about a sentence she said five minutes ago and loose track of the subject. She may be good, or not, i just cannot tell. Big mistake.
Hard class no matter which way you put it. Come to class and pay attention if you want to pass. Do the Homework by yourself with some guidance of SM if needed but don't do them all with help.
She is one of the best professors at FIU. Dynamics is a very hard class. and Dr sun makes you work to get the material. I received 60 and 64 for my first 2 exams, and I realized that I was not putting as much needed efforts for the class. I worked very hard after that and I ended with a b+ in the class.
The professor is great but the course is very hard. Unlike some other professors Ju sun will make sure that you actually know the material for this course. Her lectures are excellent but she's a tough grader. I would recommend her if you really wanna learn something but if you're only interested in passing I suggest another professor
Probably one of the best professors at FIU. She is very clear, very strict and very nice. If you work hard, you will get the material, if you get the material, you don't need to worry.
When you Google, "FIU dynamics", Ju Sun is the first thing that you see, for good reason. Lectures are crystal clear, her expectations are high, loads of homework. If you manage to do the homework without looking up the sol manual you will find her quizzes to be easy, and her tests about average. To understand the concept, study a little bit daily.
She's amazing. She's not easy but she's very good at teaching. You will definitely learn the material.
Excellent teacher, super hard class. She knows her stuff and is always willing to help.
excellent professor
Honestly, the most time consuming class that I have ever taken. She picks the hardest or most annoying problems for the exams and gives practically zero partial credit. Her quizzes make up 20% of the grade, which is ridiculous for POP quizzes. I am so happy to have passed so that I never have to take a class with her again.
Very hard professor, she teaches to make you learn. She is not the type to take just to pass. Only way to pass is to understand the material, and pay attention!! VERY TIME CONSUMING!
Very hard professor, the only way to get a decent grade is to practice at least 40 to 60 problems per chapter. quizzes are easy, exams are really hard.
Dr. Ju Sun is the best professor you can have for Dynamics. She is tough when grading, but she will teach you everything you need so that you do learn the essence of engineering. Her class will bring your resilience to the edge, and if you can't do it, then you might be choosing the wrong major. She is the best you can choose.
Professor is crystal clear, expect HUGE amounts of hard homework and easy pop quizzes. just do HW to be ready for quizzes and re-do them for the tests and you will pass.
Dr. Sun was the hardest professor I've taken in my life. She is very clear in her lectures but her class was the most challenging. Believe me, she is a tough grader and gives ridiculous pop quizzes. She gave us one in the last day of class. You must work really hard to pass this class. Dont take her if you are not up for a challenge.
I had her for statics in Summer B and dynamics in fall. Statics in 6 weeks is doable, if you take the time to do the homework, which is a lot. Dynamics was not an easy class, and her tests are tough, but she does teach the material very and very clear. If you show up to class and do all the homework, you'll be fine.
Tests are hard, you have to do every single problem out the book to be prepared, I did every problem first test I got a B second test C final 50% and I ended up with a C. Expect quizzes after every chapter be ready for them you will need the extra credit and she gives a little extra credit. I recommend her if you want to work hard if not run.
Amazing professor. Hard class. You REALLY have to work hard to do well in this class. Pop quizzes are pretty straightforward, do well on them they will save your grade. Do ALL the homeworks and understand every single problem. There is a ridiculous amount of content in this class so start studying for tests at least a week in advance. Good luck.
she Is a very good teacher she grades fair . she explain very well. Be aware there are pop-quiz.
She doesn't explain well.
Take this class with another professor
She explains the material well and gives good examples (those in the text and from other sources). She also gives tips to how to solve problems and what to look out for (common mistakes). Exams are online but gives partial credit for work shown. Don't use the solutions manual! You won't pass if you don't do the homework yourself.
TAKE. There are other professors for this class, but you will definitely learn with her. I took her for statics, and I am happy I did because it is a great way to get ready for Dynamics. The person who commented before me is 100% right. Also, practice and practice because there are pop quizzes in random days, do not miss them.
She is one of the BEST professors at EC! TAKE HER! Be aware of the 8-10 pop quizzes and there are 2 test and 1 final as for everyone else in other classes. You will definitely learn a lot with her and she will take the time to teach you what you need in order to succeed.
Ok ju sun in a nutshell. the good: Great lectures, Available afterhours, you will learn. The Bad: Tough with students, intimidating. If you ask a question get ready to answer her questions for the entire class. Test are super hard. Will choose the problems that incorporate multiple chapters. Show her you care! a lot of ppl take her 2 or 3 times
Best Professor I've ever had in my life. She actually cares that students learn something from the class so she grades tough but if you put in the work and do all the example problems she offers, you will pass. Her lectures were so great I never needed to look at the book and I got a nearly perfect score. The class takes some time but is worth it.
Ju Sun has a bit of an accent but is understandable. Her lecture's are power point based and long, she gets her content straight from the book. She gives a pop-up quiz every or every other week. She is strict and wants discipline during class. She has homework that counts as very minor extra credit and her tests are based off of it on ME online.
Ju Sun is undoubtedly one of the best/hardest professors at FIU. Do NOT take her class if youre not willing to work. My advice: make friends with people from with different to get tips on what the test will be on. she doesn't give any hints on what to study. other than that, solid professor. you will actually learn with her
Professor Sun may be the best professor I have ever had. She knows her stuff, makes it easy to understand, and helps out her students when they need it. On top of her fantastic teaching ability, she genuinely cares about everyone in her classes. Take her.
Dr. Sun is the most challenging professor I've ever met. You will for sure learn dynamics, and she does care that you learn. She's a really good teacher but it's for sure not an easy A. She gives pop quizzes, so one has to stay on top of what is being learned at the moment. I wouldn't take her again, but I am glad I took her.
Absolutely, 100% the best professor that you can take for this class. She actually teaches, has generous office hours, and gives you homework that builds on what you learned in class. She really cares that you do well and she gives A LOT of partial credit. Having said that, if you really want to do well, be sure to understand the concepts.
Dr. Sun incorporates every resource she can to explain the concepts you need to pass this class and prepare you for solids/materials. Without a doubt practice helps and this subject can't be mastered with cramming. Do the homework & make friends with students in the other statics classes as mentioned before. If you really want to succeed take Sun.
If you want to learn the ins and outs of Statics, you should take Professor Sun. She really tries to make sure that everyone understands the material, and gives various examples on how to do the problems. There is A LOT of homework, though. The lectures can also get boring, but she tries her best to keep it lighthearted. Definitely would take again
she focuses of concepts and doesn't give examples ,uch time. she moves on super fast and I was never an average student and I felt I was so stressed taking her dynamics class. wouldn't take it again with her as she is just not the professor that would bring the best out of me. it always felt like students questions were making here fall behind
Another horrible professor. Homework on ME is extremely difficult (5-12hr every wk) and that's what the tests are based on. The notes from class help very little as she teaches from slides EVERY SINGLE CLASS. Never works out an actual problem herself. FIU advertises tutors for these horrible teachers. Other positive review are fake and from cheater
Dr. Sun is very nice and caring but when it comes to lecturing she is pretty bad. She lectures from power points with exact wording & examples from the book (why even show up?) & speeds thru everything. She is of no help in learning the material and you WILL be lost. Bright side is she is really nice with grading and will give partial credit.
Teaches off of powerpoints, grade is based heavily on exam, lots of homework problems only worth a little on your final grade, exam based on time consuming homework, rushes through material, gives partial credit in exams/quizzes, will give random pop quizzes, quiet voice so sit at the front, not much room to pass class, attendance is crucial
I understand all the hate she gets but it's out of proportion. Go to class every day, ask question, do homework (optional, not graded). Her strong personality is to emphasize why you need to effort and prepare for tests. I got a B because I realaxed way too much in one of the midterms. If not I believe an A achievable. Very good professor.
Ok the class is hard BUT she's clear at Teaching tho. She is organized, gives you a solid understanding on how to solve problems. She gives you all parts of the puzzle not like other professors who don't give you enough info nor a solid lecture. She is the best. The class is hard because that is just the way it is not because she complicates it.
Here's the thing, learning with her was uncomfortable, she really does make you work for the grade. I have to say that professor Sun is really good at building character! But if you're not good with having your character built then avoid her. She is not an easy A. Her teaching style is different from many professors but overall I really did learn.
Ju Sun is the Gordon Ramsey of Thermo: cares about the subject and that you learn it, but tough to pass. Lectures are long but go in-depth about the concept. HW is the same thing but I just wish it put more to your grade. Her exams take up most of it, and they're brutal. Take her if you can handle the work, but please DON'T TAKE HER ONLINE.
Tough class but good and caring professor.
I've taken Dr. Sun for Thermo, Statics and Dynamics, and she teaches these classes very similarly. She gives very clear and detailed lectures, but gives a lot of homework. However, if you can manage your time with the given homework, you've got most of your studying down. If you take her for two classes in one semester get ready to do a lot of work
Considering everything transitioned to remote learning, Dr. Ju Sun has adapted well. I can't speak for how she teaches in person, but her virtual lectures are great. Very easy to follow; her class in general is pretty straightforward. There is probably an easier professor to take, but I encourage you Dr. Sun is worth taking.
She thinks her classes are the only thing in a students life. You cant negotiate with her! With this remote teaching if your hand is not on camera for a second or two she really makes a big deal out of it! Highly recommend avoiding her class!
Don't take this lady if you don't have to. Especially if you're loading up on courses. The homeworks are abominably long and worth little to no credit. She practically fails you if you don't have your hands on camera (didn't happen to me). This is a weed out class. If you can take it with another teacher then do so.
toughest professor you will find but she will make you learn
Professor Sun doesn't receive the best reviews, however, she is honestly amazing at teaching and you can easily tell she's very well-rounded in her field. Although there aren't that many good reviews out there for her, she teaches some difficult classes and the truth is some students want to blame the instructor instead of themselves.
An honest review about professor Ju Sun. The class is extremely difficult in general. If this class was in person it would have been better. She reads from a PowerPoint and never actually does problems herself. . But if you are dedicated you can pass just need to put in hours of homework. I was not, and received the grade deserved.
By far she is the worst Professor Ive ever had. She doesnt really teach, all she does is read of PowerPoint slides and doesnt explain anything. She would fail you no matter what you do. She would act like she is trying to help you but in reality she is not. Avoid her at any cost.
Her class is very hard, but she doesnt make any effort to make it easier. She wants it to be hard, but she will give you the tools to study and pass. Her class is doable but you have to put a LOT of effort and time, she probably thinks you are only taking her class. Lots of hw and pop quizzes. Exams are hard and long but she will make you learn
Tough professor teaching a tough class, but her expectations and the work load was reasonable. Cares that her students learn and understand the material. If you have a solid understanding of how to do the homework you will do fine on the exams. Taken online but have to attend campus in person for her exams. Would've like the HWs to count for more.
Workload can get excessive at times, but she wants you to learn. Best professor I've had at FIU in regards to actually teaching course material.
Prof. Sun was very nice and helpful at times but this class was a handful. Don't wait last minute to do the HW because it is very time consuming. She has four 1 question pop quizzes worth 15% and 3 exams. Study everything and ask questions!
Personally think she is amazing! Wants you to pass but it will not be easy. She will make you put in the effort. Gives lots of work to help you n try not to wait til last minute because you will feel overwhelmed. My only complaint was the homework and quizzes were worth little compared to the exams. Dedicate time to her class and you shall pass.
Workload might be excessive to some.Besides that, she is an amazing lecturer and explains the concepts crystal clear. Not only that, she genuinely cares for each student's success and will make sure you learn the concept. Plus she's the only prof to address all students by their name which I found telling of her caring. Best professor I've had in FIU.
Worst professor in FIU. Nice person but a horrible professor. Please stay away from her at all cost. Sadly shes the only professor that teaches it most of the time. If you get lucky pick someone else. Trust me! I studied for exams and failed. More than 70% of the class failed and is retaking next semester.
You have to follow her classes closely and you have to extra work to pass the class.
Dr. Sun is a great professor. Although there's lots of homework, doing it will be extremely helpful with the exams and pop quizzes. Her lectures cover everything you'll need, and she provides interactive class worksheets where she covers all the topics through helpful examples and exercises.
Strict but take Ju Sun for ANY class if you want to learn. Won't be easy but if you try you'll pass. Clear lectures, caring, approachable, fair and never gets mad when you ask for help.
Hard class, but learned a lot. Study the homeworks and you will pass the class. The only reason I got a B+ and not an A is because I did not study the homework over for Exam 1 and focused on reading the textbook again.
Very nice and caring teacher and teaches the fundamentals of the concepts very well. If you do study all the material she provides you'll get an A, but there's A LOT to cover, so definitely not to be taken lightly. A little annoying she wouldn't upload her lecture slides which meant you had to spend the whole class writing and taking notes.
Ju Sun excels in teaching dynamics with 4 pop quizzes (1 dropped), 2 mid-terms, and a final. No curve, but partial credit and extra credit for attending class post-exams. Homework tough but preps for final. Office hours offered. Self-application crucial for success. Class demands thorough study for midterm and final success, crucial for passing.
Dr. Sun is an amazing professor and lecturer. She is very clear, concise, and exact with everything she says and gives you everything you need to pass. I took this class during summer mini term and it's doable if you push yourself, listen, and take good notes.
Excellent professor and lecturer, willing and able to help if you put in the effort. This class will require a good amount of time and effort, especially the tedious homework, but if you do the homework and know how to do the examples from class and the book, you'll be fine. Your grade really is determined by how much effort you put into the course
A very long and tedious class. Great prof with high expectations. No extra credit, no curve; what you learn is what you get. This class is for you if you want to be challenged and push more than usual. Attendance is not mandatory, but she keeps track of the students who try to attend + you may miss quizzes. I wish HW would count for more than 5%.
The class seems intimidating at first but Dr. Sun makes the class as welcoming as she can. The grade is heavily dependent on tests but she tries to make them as easy as possible. Hw is 5% of grade, quizzes are 15%, the rest is two exams and the final which is 30%. You can tell she wants her students to succeed. Study the hw and you'll pass.
Professor Sun is a great professor. Extremely humble and caring. The course is very challenging and demanding. Lots of homework that are very helpful resources to study for exams. Pop quizzes, but if you are keeping up with the course work you will find them very easy. Exams are not easy but you shouldn't expect any less. Would recommend!!
Professor Ju Sun's class demands thorough studying, but her clear lectures and helpful office hours make it manageable. The homework is time-consuming but prepares you well for the exams. I found Unstuck ai's study tools really useful alongside the textbook.
Ju Sun is a great professor who is strict and forces you to learn and test your knowledge. Dont expect an easy A, youre going to have to work for that A but you will actually learn as opposed to other professors, where youll have an A and learn nothing. Take Ju Sun if you really want to learn and be an engineer.
I took Statics 3 times before her and failed. Professor Sun will help you if you ask for it. She gives a lot of partial credit in her quizzes and exams, as well as some extra credit as well for attendance. She does give pop up quizzes so be ready for that and a lot of HW. Overall a great professor and can FINALLY say I was able to pass.
The professor NEVER explains the exercises. She only gives the theory and does not solve doubts or go through the exercises the way she should. HOW I PREPARED MY SELF FOR THE TEST?!. The class is supposed to end at 10:50, but she does not respect the ending time, without considering that some people have jobs or other responsibilities afterwards.
One of the best professors at FIU, take her for any class! She gives a lot of weekly homework, but it prepares you for the exams. No self learning is needed when you pay attention to the lectures and examples shown. She's caring and will make sure every student is doing their best. This class is difficult, but take her if you want to learn.
