Very good teacher and who would of thought that psychology could be made so easy and fun. if you are into writing six page reports, be my guess, but in this class all you have to do is learn how to juggle...

AWESOME TEACHER. Possibly the best teacher I've had at MDC. He's nice, funny, understanding. He knows his material, and he explains it well. Be prepared to have to learn how to juggle (I'm not kidding! But don't worry, it's fun!), and be prepared to have to do service learning (which i'm not a big fan of, but it wasn't that bad.) he's funny, has plenty of stories to tell, test are easy(but, take notes!), he gives his reviews 1 week before the test. i highly recommend him!

By far the BEST prof i ever had. i always looked foward to go to class. im sad to see the semester over. his test have 50 question multiple choice, he always gives a review, he is very helful really knows the material and he is very funny and down to earth. i loved the class, there is a lot to learn from him!! there are 4 tests and 2 papers to write. he gives study guides for test so its impossible not to pass (not unless if you don't study) he's very laid back and if you need help he's there. he gives you like 3 absences but doesn't like tardiness. be willing to read the chapters and it should be easy, i got an A. he's really good! take him.

I really looked forward to going to this class. It's fun, interesting, and really informative. Videos are shown but it never got too uncomfortable. I probably never forget what he taught it. There are 6 tests, and as long as you take notes in class and pay attention, you'll definitely pass.

The best psychology professor ever! His class is always interesting. His test are easy if you do the study guide. his grading scale is based on points he gives 6 test that are about 2-3 chps each.Its a very relaxed enviornment and he talks to the class as if he has known everyone for yrs! hes awesome and he wants to see everyone succeed. must take!

He is the best professor I have had since coming to Miami-Dade,and I will miss him so much. I took him for Independent Studies and it was great! You MUST have the book in order to do well but Mr. Abascal is very helpful should you need him. Tons of extra credit so if you don't do well, you didn't want to.

Don't be late and don't be absent so you'll earn extra points. Read over your notes before the exams and there won't be a need to break a sweat. He's quite funny and they are enjoyable lectures. And there's really no need to buy the text book.

I had him for Psych of Pers Effct. & he was the best! i wish he taught EVERY psych class. he's HILARIOUS & knows what he's doing, very skilled & loves his job. You have to learn to juggle for the class, but he coaches you through it. getting an A isn't hard. just do the stupid little assgnments & quizzes and you'll be fine. :)

This guy is an AMAZING teacher. I still remember his class and many of the things he taught us. He's really funny, very easy going, and he tries to make sure that he teaches a class that people actually learn in. If you're going to take Human Sex (=) and you should), take it with him.

Took this as a summer B course. I was extremely happy with taking this course. 6 tests and he provides a study guide which as long as you do and take good notes you can manage an A. I did :) I strongly recommend him, he has a terrific personality and super funny.

I took Abascal for PSY1060 & SOP2772 I highly recommend that you take both of these classes even in SOP2772 is not a requierement. Abascal is AWESOME, he grades fairly using a point system so it is easy to know what your grade is at all times. He is extremely understandin, helpful, clear, respectul & loves teaching. A DEFFINITE MUST TAKE.

Very nice man and professor. I took him for Abnormal Psy. for an independent study class. There are 4 exams in multiple choice format. The exams are not that hard if you study. He gives you a study guide which is really helpful. Type up the study guide with the answers for extra credit.

I took him for CLP2140 and for DEP2100 for independent study. The class is pretty intresting. If you like psychology or are a psy. major take him.

i loved him. he kept me interested the whole time. only has 6 tests, NO HOMEWORK. however, make sure you write down all of his lecture cause its exactly whats on the test. Good teacher

Dr. Abascal is seriously the best professor at Miami Dade College!!! Very easy to understand, quizzes and tests are very common sense but it does help to read the chapters. Amazing guy, I couldn't help but be interested in his class. It's not a hard class as long as you read the chapters. He also send powerpoints before class starts to your email. READ THEM before the test. You can pass with an easy A.

He's a great teacher. He is very strict about attendance and behavior in class (he just likes respect) You MUST have the book, it's mandatory, there are quizzes just about every week but if you read the chapter he asked you'll be fine. And service learning is mandatory as well. He's an overall great teacher, he teaches things that are useful.

It's hard to put how great this professor is into words. The class is not hard at all. Just read the textbook and you will ace all your quizzes. One of the best professors you will ever take in college. A class I will never forget. He's a real psychologist, teaching as a part time job so he knows what he is talking about. Great professor. The reviews are just like the tests, there is no way you can fail unless you didn't try. If you get stuck on the review, email him. He gives everyone 15 points of extra credit. Every time you are late or absent he deducts those extra credit points. So just go to class! Those points will help you get that A. Sweet, funny, take him!

AMAZING professor!!!! super helpful, straight to the point. the test are just like the study guides, gives you all the information you need to pass the test plus really funny and intertwining. Best professor in MDC.

THIS GUY IS AWESOME. Greatest Professor i have ever had. Keeps everyone interested. Really Knows how to teach. Takes interest in students who take interest. Always has a positive attitude. Makes jokes and clearly explains the material.

Interesting guy,I had almost no interest in this class before entering but now it really has me interested to learn more about psychology.

REALLY interesting guy with loads of information and very passionate about what he is teaching. Usually look forward to his class this semester and I'm not even doing all that well because of my own reasons. AMAZING professor if you pay attention and STUDY.

HES AN AMAZING PROFESSOR! I've taken him for both SOP2772 and CLP1006. Both classes were very enjoyable and fun. He makes his classes interesting and makes sure that you understand. Highly recommended, you wont regret it.

I honestly thought this class was easy. He gives quizes before he teaches it you have to read the chapter but if you read you will get an A, most of the things are common sense anyway. The only thing i didn't like was that you have to learn how to juggle which is worth as much as a test grade, & 10 community service hours. he's nice & will help

GREAT proffessor! Was whatever coming into this class but finished super interested and learned a lot! This guy is passionate, you have to juggle but if you practice it's an easy A on your final. Also have to do 10 community hours which is whatever, besides that everything is super interesting quizzes and test are NOT hard! PAY ATTENTION!

He's awesome! Very interesting class, he really helps you open your mind up to everything. One of my favorite professors from my three semesters. Take him!

Take him for eery class he teaches. He is a great professor, loves his student and knows his stuff. You cannot go wrong, you will learn and retain everything he teaches. Attendance is a bi deal for him but its worth it.

Good professor easy class if you study

This is perhaps the best class I have ever taken. He's funny, interactive, interesting, organized, and just great overall. His class does need time and study to pass. It does also need you to do service learning but its worth it. I guarantee you will also love. I recommend it to EVERYONE AND ANYONE!!!

Awesome professor really goes over all the material in great detail and makes class interesting. Everything you need to know to ace the tests are in his lectures and in the study guide.

My favorite class and professor of this semester. He makes you fall in love with psychology. Explains everything clearly and beautifully; you can tell he really loves what he teaches. Take good notes and the tests are easy. He sends you the study guide about a week or two prior so you have lots of time to prepare. Take him!! You won't regret it.

I had Dr. Abascal for Human Sexuality this semester. Such an amazing teacher! He's been in the field for a long time, so he really knows his stuff. He made the class so fun, we had about 48 students and attendance was practically perfect each time we met! Such a funny guy...TAKE HIM! You won't regret it at all! (:

He is literally the most amazing professor. i took his class this semester! he is actually the best person and he teaches super clearly, if you listen and take notes in class, and do the study guides, you will be fine!! HE IS AWESOME, almost cried on the last day because i did not want the class to be over :) TAKE HIM YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!1

One of the most impacting professor in Miami Dade, this class changed and open my views towards so many things. It is one of the few classes I could take it and actually use it in real life. He really gets you engaged in the class to point where you don't want to miss it. He is awesome.

Abascal is a great professor. definitely impactful and someone who really likes his career. this is the class that you have to buy the textbook and actually study for because if you dont then you wont pass. overall awesome person, youll regret not having him as a professor.

Professor Abascal is one of those professors you get if you're lucky!! What a wonderful man! Always enthusiastic and hilarious. A lot of quizzes and 4 tests in total along with 5 papers but it's all doable! The only thing that was kind of hard was that he makes you learn how to juggle, and I mean that literally! If you want a fun class, take him!

He's a really great professor! I learned so much in his class! You need to buy the book in order to pass. He gives quizzes on chapters and there's a total of 4 tests. The only thing that was hard was that he makes you juggle and it's counted as a test grade. But if you study and do the 5 global reaction papers, you'll be fine!

His class is not that hard, but you have to study if you really want that A! 5 tests, all multiple choice and the majority of the questions are straight from his lectures + the study guide. He gives 15 points of extra credit for perfect attendance. He's a really funny and entertaining teacher.

He's an amazing person and is respected by student and facility. Gives great feedback and gives extra credit for not missing class but attendance is mandatory. There is five exam through out the course but he does send you emails with reviews.

I loved this class. Attendance is mandatory, but his lectures are really interesting. He's an expert at what he teaches and it's obvious. I'd take his class again.

Honestly the best professor i've had in my 2 years at MDC. His lectures are very interesting and make you want to come to class, which is a good thing because you need to show up in order to get valuable info for the tests. You must do his study guides or you will not pass. overall it should be an easy A or B if you don't slack off.

I took Dr. Abascal for human sexuality, EVERYONE should take this course and with him! This class opens your mind! He lectures every class but they are amazing lectures that keep you interested. only 5 exams that you have to study for but he gives you a study guide. Juan Abascal is an extraordinary individual I learned so much from him.

His class was awesome the topic itself was really interesting and the way he teaches keeps everyone interested because he's so funny and he has a strong voice that can keep you awake in the morning. You have not experienced the best of MDC until you have taken his class.

This professor was amazing! Be ready to study and to attend EVERY class. If you are seeking any Social Sciences Degree you MUST take him! You won't regret it. Be ready to attend class, pay attention, write tons of notes, and to have your mind blown!! I am honestly bombed that the class is over.

Probably the best professor I've had. He likes to use profanity. Talking about the subject of sex would usually be considered awkward, but he makes it seem normal!

I LOVEDDD HIM! Dr. Abascal is a great and very inspirational teacher, gives great feedback and tips on how to get into grad school-which I think its extremely important for undergrads to know. I am a psych major and he inspired me to take more clp classes. His tests are a bit hard, he makes you work for your grade but it is WORTH IT!

Absolutely LOVED this professor. Show up take notes and pay attention and you will pass. Grades are based on 4 tests. Easy tests if you do his study guide which he sends to you! Amazing lectures would take him again in a heart beat. Oh and no skipping class sorry.

This professor was probably one of the best I've seen in Miami Dade. His lectures were super interesting and clear. He gave out study guides that helped immensely with his tests. Overall, a really nice and knowledgeable person. I would completely recommend taking him if you can.

This class was AMAZING! Truly helped me to change the way I look at life. Taught me that all the answers are truly within ourselves. Professor Abascal was a great teacher. Ill always remember him everytime I juggle. Afterall, its because of this class that I learned how. Anything that you practice is achievable. I hope to take him again soon!

He is amazing! I recommend everyone to take his class! So much knowledge. His lectures are so interesting, and you are actually excited to come to class. 4 tests (No midterm and no final) and he gives you a study guide for all. Book not really needed if you're a good note taker but it helps. Extra credit offered for attendance. Best professor ever!

Loved this professor, you have to study in order to pass the exams. The study guides are a little extra compared to what you get tested on, but overall AMAZING professor. You'll learn so much with this man, his lectures are great! class is always interesting. He tries to help his students as much as he can. very inspirational. TAKE HIM

One of the most involved professors i have ever had. Great lectures and good sense of humor. Perfect attendance could grant you points towards your final grade. He covers 90% of test content in class and makes helpful study guides. Participation may matter when it comes to inconclusive matters such as asking extra credit. NOT an easy A though!

Overall a great professor. Funny and his lectures are mostly interesting. Strict about attendance and tardiness gives extra credit based on that which can really help your final grade! His tests are tricky! You do need to study and the book will help in case you miss something bc he is a bit fast paced. Grade based on 4 test.

Oh how I am going to miss Professor Abascal. He has to be one of the best professor's that I have had here at MDC. He is very inspiring, funny and wise. All you need to do in his class is participate, read the chapters, study for the quizzes and test and JUGGLE (literally)! If I were able to take him again I would.

Prof. Abascal has been, hands down, the best professor i've ever had. His class is lecture based, and there are 6 exams. No midterm or Final. His material is incredibly interesting and engaging. He is truly a gem, take him for any Psychology course, but i recommend SOP2772 (Human Sexuality)

Professor Abascal is amazing. Before i took Human Sexuality i considered going into Music Therapy for my specialty once i graduate. He completely made me fall in love with the subject and has made me want to become a sexologist. His class is all lectures, but extremely engaging. He is extremely caring and is always interested in his students.

Abascal is extremely passionate about the subject. If your willing to pay attention to his lectures and incorporate it to your daily life, then take this class. I strongly recommend this class to college freshman. Theres also quizzes like every other class so read the book on the daily.

One of the best profs. I've ever had. He truly cares. Teaches you useful things for life, not just your major. I still use his meditation techniques. And I still know how to juggle! Meditation classes can be expensive but he taught his classes for free, and that's amazing. Great lectures. You will ALWAYS use the book. You HAVE to read for quizzes.
