makes things so confusing....hard class....does not explain himself well....stay away...no sympathy for students
Stay away, very unorganized, come to class not knowing something and then you leave confused. Books are worthless. Over half the class did horrible on the midterm AFTER a curve the final would be even worse.
Professor Cabrera is new to Baruch, but is still a terrific professor with great knowledge of statistics/econometrics. He explains everything very clearly and is passionate about this subject. Although his tests were difficult, I ended up getting a B+ with subpar grades. I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn the subject matter well.
Prof. Cabrera is a good professor. Although it can get confusing, go to EVERY class. It helps. Do the homeworks and practice exams. Pay attention. If you don't understand something, tell him, he will go over it until you do. Books are not that helpful, do not purchase. I recieved an A in the class and didn't study, just went to class.
1 short& simple quiz on stat review. Some hw from book- hard but help in prep for exams- def get answ key for book. 1 group project- sort of lengthy but thats y its a GROUP proj. Midterm (small curve- most did well). & Final. Cabrera explains everything clearly however does not do examples in class. He doesnt like lateness & is a lenient gra
he's really young so he def knows what its like being a student, he's very helpful u can see him in his office and he will explain things step by step the material is hard but if u do the hw's you will go fine on the tests, the project isnt really hard and he graded it on a pass of fail basis, def take him its a hard subject but he explains it good
Great teacher who really makes an effort to aswer any and all questions. The text does not help too much if you don't understand the logic to begin with but he provides answers to the hw and the exams are not bad at all. He's not bad on the eyes either for the ladies :-)
ummmm...for the record, he is not the easiest. I got an A in my previous stats class, and having a very difficult time with this guy. Not very specific about what will be on exams, no reviews so you're basically on your own. HW may be helpful, but there is way too much of it so u have no idea what to concentrate on....
Horrible prof. very thick accent and just reads the formulas. Exams are not clear and VERY HARD! isn't on track with the course. He rushes everything to his convenience. Also deadly boring. Trust me he is a major GPA killer. Mystery HW collection 2/10 so 5% EACH!! very long hw and confusing slides and book. i would avoid him, all eco prof r bad btw
He is very nice and helpful. He explains everything very clearly. He even goes over the chapters that are intentionally taken out from the textbook. Reading the text books helps in further understanding and attending every single class is essential. Homeworks are graded. The only drawback is his exams are hard.
THE WORST MANN YOU CAN EVER TAKE FOR ANY ECONOMICS CLASS PERIODD!!!!!!I MEAN WOOW WHEN I SAY HORRIBLE HE COMES TO MIND..HAS TO MUCH POWER AND ABUSES IT THINKING EVERYONE MAGICALLY WILL DO AMAZING WITH HIM..TO THINK HES TRYING TO GET HIS PHD..WOW YEAH OKAY I WISH HE GETS SOMEONE LIKE ME..TO GRADE HIM!! STAY AWAYY AS FAR AS YOU CANN!!!!
His class was very tough and he didn't like the questions like we were supposed to know.... No review for the test. There was a curb because most of us didn't do well on the exam. There was a project but he didn't explain much. We had to just read the materials . It was a kind of self studying class.
Professor Cabrera is a great professor and makes econometrics easy to understand. I have learned a great deal in this class. He always is ready to help. His classes are well organized and if you study and do the homework you will succeed in the class.
had him for micro at Pace U. He single handedly ruined my GPA. Did not teach at all, just read off some slides. His tests are not clear and very hard to understand and does nothing to help students when having trouble. His homework is stupid and trite, doesn't teach anything. and to think he gets paid for showing up disgusts me. Do not take him
Had professor for Micro. He is the worst professor i have ever and will have. Did not teach what was on tests, ridiculous hw every week(no help, and does not know his own material. Constantly has to study his work to teach the class. Even with a 100 on a test i still got a B-, nd i cant imagine i did that terrible on the final.
I loved him, his not only the best, he is the cutest. Very helpful and tries his best to make the class understandable for everybody. The subject it is in nature hard and complicated to understand, but if you study, do the H.W and project, you should be fine. I got 100 on midterm and 100 on final overall an A.
Amazing professor - and obviously students who are lazy and don't their HW will complain. But I did my HW and when asked questions he was always willing to help so, don't listen, keep studying and you will get an A. He is one of the best professors I ever had and he really knows the material he is teaching.
He knows Econometrics very well and explains the material very clearly. The content is very hard though, so you have to study on your own too to understand everything. Prof. is very helpful and his exams are fair and not tricky. H/W is 10%, randomly collected, project is 20%- do it right! Overall, great experience. Take him!
Doesn't know how too teah. He's the worst professor I have ever taken. Don't take him. Avoid him by any means.
You'll do good if you have his mind literary. And you know it's impossible. You'll learn nothing from this class. He's a bad professor in terms of teaching. Finish a chapter in 20 minutes. If you care about your GPA, don't take him...AVOID. Don't forget to tell your friends.
AVOID this guy. Do Not Take him. He seems to know his stuff but doesn't know how to make student understand a concept. He sucks evenly. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY.
Seriously he should quit teaching. He grades however way he feels like grading. Two people with identical answer, one got full credit other got zero. Now you can tell about his judgment skills...absolute zero. Avoid him!!!!
First two weeks you'll not get what the hell he is talking about and it supposed to be the review of STAT 2000. The only thing I want to say about him is that he sucks!!! Just avoid him.
He has very poor quality of teaching. I dropped this class after a week. My friend wanted to go on and ... she's got a D and her GPA is 3.5. I think you get the picture.
Why are you people moaning instead of studying??? If you listen to his lectures rest is a piece of cake. Go to class, pay attention, do homework and you should get an A. He knows his topic very well and always answers questions. It is not an easy A so if you are lazy bum don't take it.
I TAKE THIS CLASS AND DROPPED OUT THE FIRST WEEK. HE IS VERY CONFUSION AND LAZY, READS FROM THE POWER POINT AND YOU HARDLY UNDERSTANDS WHAT HE WRITES. A LOT OF PEOPLE I HEAR DROP HIM. AND IT IS VERY HARD TO GET AN A IN HIS CLASS.
I dropped this class on the 2nd day. Reads from the powerpoint and assumes that you know the garbage that he's talking about. He is just a piece of useless junk. Don't Take him. noooonooonooo

a projcet, homeworks, a quiz, midterm and final plus class attendance and participation to make up your grade. he does not care for students. since its all essay questions, there is no one right answer. same answer will get two people different score if it happens to you, let him be aware and he will fix it.
DON'T TAKE THIS GUY. I HAD HIM LAST SEMESTER. THERE IS A BETTER PROFESSOR FOR THIS CLASS. SUCH AS PROFESSOR "MA" IS THE BEST I HEARD WHO GIVES ALL MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTONS, NO PROJECTS AND HOME WORKS. YOU
Hardest A ever. Head still spinning 8 mos later. Pored over material, somehow pulled it off. Rec for HARD workers.
Common people, give him some justice! He is very knowlegable and does not read from the powerpoint. Very helpful if asked questions, the thing is that if you do not read notes and textbook regularly, you do not know what's going on and have no questions to ask. Final was quite hard. Plus he is hot, hot, hot and down to earth.
Had him for summer session 2. He knows what he's talking about! Doesn't just teach from pp. He draws a lot of graphs to explain concepts-very helpful! He's pretty young, so he understands the needs of a student. One of the best profs I've had!
he is just hottt!!!
I MUST agree, SUPER HOTTT!!!Besides the great eye candy he's very intelligent and intuitive. The class content is very difficult but the professor definitely helped make it understandable which i would've never imagined possible. Taught at classes pace and always asked if anyone had questions. Would DEFINITELY recommend.
Worst professor in Baruch College
"Connect" quizzes/homeworks, 1 midterm and final. Professor is nice and knowledgeable. He does explain stuff but do not expect him to babysit you. Just read the book and do HWs/quizzes (more challenging than exams), you'll end up with at least B.
He is a nice guy but his lectures are pointless and attendance is mandatory. Connect HW is incredibly difficult, I spent nearly 3 hours for every homework, but if you can do the homework problems the exam will look like 4th grade material. HW is 2x as hard as the exams, its good preperation. Be prepared to teach yourself and use GOOGLE!!
One of the best professor in Baruch college
Very difficult class. His power point slides and class lectures do not help for the exams. Prepare to study the text book. Hws are medium to very difficult. Prepare to stay up hours for the hws. Quizzes are very difficult and covers some problems not covered in the class or in the book. On the final had questions not covered in the class; worth 50%
One of the best professors! Any question you have he'll explain clearly and intelligently. Do the homework and you'll be just fine. Highly recommended :)
I feel that he doesn't have a genuine care for helping students. He replies to emails with just a few words and doesnt spend the time getting to know us or our names. He ends class early on average 50 mins early each Friday. But he teaches well and is well organized. His slides are helpful and the connect work is relevant and challenging.
You can study on your own and pass. What you get in class is what you get from the textbook. Very organized. Do all the ConnectPlus problems as those are more difficult than the exam problems. Extremely approachable and understanding. My only complaint is he barely replies to emails. Good guy though. I would take him again.
His weekly home works and quizzes are very annoying. I felt that if he were to go through each question especially on the quizzes he would realize how long they actually take to complete. They could potentially take up to 10hours a week to complete. Not joking! They are very helpful in fully understand corporate finance. Study hard for final, hard.
Connect homeworks and quizes are extremely difficult after the midterm. Be ready to spend hours on it. You must read the text book, class lectures are not enough. Study HARD for the final.
HW are unbelievably long and quizzes are long as well towards the end of the semester. You must read the book or you will do horrible. 1 MT all MC which was pretty easy because I practiced all of the HW problems and quizzes, Final Cumulative and worth 50% was really really hard. It was all MC but there were very challenging questions. GL Study hard
As it happens with other courses at Baruch, the problem with this class is the size of it, not the professor. His lectures are crystal-clear, his explanations to the point, but this class is way too big for him to give good feedback. Make sure you do ALL the practice homework; it will prepare you for the exam better than the lectures will
Great professor. Attendance is not mandatory. Expect a lot of homework. All homework is on Connect & he drops the lowest homework grade. Tests are MC but tough. Attend class lectures, take notes on HW assignments & ask q's & you will do well. One of the better professors in the finance dept. at Baruch.
Great professor. Very helpful. One midterm, one final, group paper, and Connect HW. The final was given on connect and based off of the HW assignments, so you had access to all necessary resources.
Extremely hard and I took his class friday morning, and he didnt give any slack! There are better professors, avoid!
Really knows how to teach. Invaluable to the decrepit teaching skills found at the Finance Dept. So definitely worth it. Teaches you for your career too, all on Excel. Brilliant. It's a must, with the slim choices you have, you don't wanna end up teaching yourself all of it. Keep an Excel file ready to plug in numbers to prob types and your golden.
Great professor good grades
Awesome professor. Really knows what hes talking about and does a good job of engaging the class, even on a late Friday night class. He drops 2 quizzes and HW's. Midterm is 30% and Final is 40%. He gives you the option to skip the midterm and take the final for the full 70% as well. Super cool guy.
One of the best finance professor at Baruch. Actually learned from him, and the exams are super fair. He wants his students to get an A. If you study hard (spend time on his connect homework and quizzes, also read the textbook) you will do well on the final. If you work hard you will get an A.
One of the best professors I have ever had! His lectures are amazing. He is intelligent and caring and funny as hell. Also very good looking. The tests are much easier than the homework. There is one midterm and one final (cumulative). If you read the textbook and make sure to do your homework on time, you will do well. Take him!
His lectures are not helpful for Connect homework and exams. Weekly homework and quizzes are time-consuming and hard. He is a nice guy though.
Funny adorable guy. Focuses on understanding finance over textbook definitions or formulas. Easy A since all of the topics are a recap of intro to fin and acc. Exams were somewhat challenging, but hello, this is college, y'all spoiled by easy profs and test banks. Lots of hw but it doesn't take that long in excel (which u should know cold by now).
I have no idea why he only rated 3? This guy is a gem. He knows what he talking about, professional excel users, having fun taking his class. He can answer every question you ask relating to finance. Man, you guys gotta watch the recording and listen in the class, the reason you get a bad grade just because you watch Netflix during class time.
Don't let his nice personality fool you. Doesn't really care about his students and teaches the bare minimum. Forced all his students to use Proctorio for his exams which was never stated in his syllabus or on the cunyfirst registration page prior to signing up - huge bait and switch!! Email the department if he tries to violate your rights!!
He is a great Professor and cares for his students. Not an easy class, but if you put in work during the semester, you'll most likely score in the 80% and up. Would take him again if he's teaching higher level finance classes.
He is a great Professor. All lectures are recorded and easy to follow. He uploads all of his notes after class. The grade is made up of homework, quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Homework assignments and quizzes are fairly easy. Also, a good class to improve on excel skills. Plus, he curves most of the assignments if needed. Recommend!
He is one of the better professors in Zicklin. Made the class really engaged, and it felt like I was listening to a financial advisor rather than a professor. Taught us a lot about Excel too! However lots of homework and quizzes, and exams are proctored (no camera though). Overall a great class, and it is very possible to get an A.
Very nice and lenient professor. Understands the struggles faced by students. Easy assignments and quizzes. Very engaging class despite an online environment. An absolute beast at using Excel. Would definitely take him again if he taught another class.
Really lazy professor, gave tons of homework and quizzes nonstop every week. The stuff he teaches in class doesn't match his exams. Not only that, proctored exams with lockdown browser with your screen being recorded! Canceled classes more times than I could count, he pretty much gave up teaching midway. Avoid !!!
The professor is particularly good, particularly careful and detailed lectures, so that people are very easy to understand. I can not only learn financial knowledge but also improve my Excel skills. Eliminate a few quizzes and homework with the lowest score, 2 exams, very easy
Teaches really useful excel skills and is a positive, energetic professor. Take him!
Smart, concise, detailed. A god at excel. Nice guy too. Learned a lot from his class, would take again if he taught a higher level finance class.
learned a lot from this professor, definitely solidified my knowledge in finance. very friendly and eloquent. hw and quiz every week tho. exams use proctorio to lock browser but he allows us to use excel during it.
An amazing professor who wants you to succeed! he is a pro in excel and I feel more comfortable using excel than before. every week there is a quiz and hw but it really prepares you for the final. His lectures are very entertaining and it motivates you to learn.
A very good professor! Even though class was 3 hours long, I enjoyed listening to him teaching corporate finance and showing us the in and outs of excel! Hw and quizzes accompany every chapter, they are really helpful to prepare for the midterm and final (cumulative). Also lectures are recorded so you can look back at it later on.
Professor Juan is a rare find! I enjoyed his class because he is very engaging with his students. Took this class on a Friday evening you know how it is on Friday nights you would fall asleep in a 3 hours class by 9PM BUT Prof Juan was an exception. He made learning fun. He had us engaged through the class by asking questions and making it enjoyabl
Really nice guy, makes class interesting and engaging, he likes participation. all hw and tests on connect and uses proctorio (just the browser lock, not camera recorded). I liked him more than the other FIN 3610 class I took ( prof - Dalvi). clear grading criteria and drops 2 lowest hw and quiz.
He's a adjunct professor who comes in to teach and leave. Obviously only cares for his paycheck. What he teaches doesn't match his exams at all and wait till he tells you before exams it's gonna be proctored where you can't google or you'll be flagged for suspicious activity. Loves to cancel class and leave the students to teach themselves! AVOID!
I had a positive experience with this professor, despite drawbacks such as class being canceled several times and proctoring being enabled on exams. This professor had really engaging lectures where he showed us how to use Excel as a financial calculator, and provided problems for us to solve in preparation for exams and to understand the material.
Awful professor, just wait till students take him in person, will be even worse. Exams are tough and barely gives you time to finish it. The people giving him good ratings below is obviously the same person saying he has great "excel skills". Notice how most of the ratings praising him are rated for him on the same day, be careful & dont be fooled!
HW and Quiz on connect are difficult. Try not to do the HW on last mins. Exam is two hours more than enough to complete all the questions.
He was absent a lot during my class, which was kind of hard because we had to watch his lectures on zoom on non-class days. But when we did have class, he was a dope professor, he's funny and he's very knowledgable and he's a beast when using excel.
I love this man. Mainly because most of my professors at Baruch have been horrible, but this man is a breath of fresh air. He takes his time, explains everything thoroughly, and makes sure the entire class understands the material before moving on. I wish I had him for every class.
Just don't miss class and you will stay on top of what you're really learning, imo his lectures was very interesting, learned a lot, knows his subject, mad respect!
Professor Cabrera was so caring and knowledgeable. Hw on Connect was kinda difficult sometimes but he drops the two lowest scores, so don't worry about that. He makes sure everyone understands the material before moving on. He made our exams online and let us use Excel for calculations. Take him! Do the HWs and study for exams, and you'll do fine!
I wish all professors at Baruch were like him. Clear on everything and on point. His Excel skills are impeccable. You get to learn a lot and get a good grade if you put in the work. Take him. I highly recommend.
Best Finance professor at Baruch. He made the class easy, he teaches and explains everything well. He's funny at times too. I'm not good with finance but he starts with basics and transitions smoothly to more "complex" topics as the semester goes on. Very caring of students' concerns and needs. I wish he taught more classes at Baruch. Take him!!!
He's a good guy and loves his subject. Unfortunately, only around 15% of the material was covered in class so you should be prepared to study with textbook yourself. FIN3610 isn't easy but he drops two lowest quizzes and two lowest HW's. He also curves a grade so despite FIN3610 being challenging, you'll do fine at the end of the semester.
I am taking him right now, very hard class
He is a nice and understanding professor. I had to take this class online, so he was not able to teach everything in our 3 hour (optional) lecture, so be prepared to read the textbook. All homework is on connect and the 2 exams are on connect. You have to download proctorio to access the exams. Overall a good professor.
His lectures are never boring. So good at teaching
Extremely knowledgeable professor. We love his teaching style. I believe he is by far the best Finance professor at Baruch College.
hard. hard. hard. hard. hard. but he gave a huge curve at the end of class without telling anyone. so it is accpetable. almost everyone got above b and a lot of people ending with A.
The course was largely self-directed. Prof Cabrera was absent for half of the semester, and most learning came from the textbook and Connect assignments rather than lectures. Communication was inconsistent, including a midterm exam being changed to remote without notice. The lack of instruction and structure made the course harder than necessary.
