Love Juan Guzman! Favorite teacher so far. He's intelligent and funny. He always makes class interesting.

Very good teacher ! he helps you with anything, funny, you will not leave his class without knowing clearly what needs to be done. Get him, very good teacher you will love english because of him.

Great Teacher! Gives a lot of work so not a slackers class. He is very precise and clear with what assignments are due, and even gives makeup work time which is nice. Awesome teacher! I learned so much. Don't take this class if you are looking for a no homework class, you earn your grade.

Amazing instructor! Very detail oriented and passionate about English. He's friendly and funny and super down to earth. Understands life as a college student because he's young and recently out of college himself. If you can appreciate English as an art, you will love taking his class. I feel more knowledgeable about world issues now than ever.

He is a very good teacher the essays are not that long but there is homework included. He is very funny and he is super helpful. He loves what he does and he is fun about.

Taking English 1A with professor Guzman was a great experience. He is very nice, helpful, and funny too. We worked in groups a lot which made the class more fun. There wasn't a lot of homework and it was easy as well. This professor really likes teaching and made the class enjoyable. It's very easy to receive an A. If you can, take him!

Very inspiring teacher. He will ask a lot of you. But if your in school to learn and better yourself find your way into his classroom. Assignments weren't hard, but meaningful. Only have 5 absents, after the fifth you are dropped, but at the end of the semester it doesn't really matter

He use PowerPoint but most of the time writes notes on the board. Easy class if you do all your work. You can skip class here and there and still pass but you got to know when or else you fall behind.

Overall it was a good class, I am not big into writing but so far I have an A in the class. Not too much reading either. Fairly simple class if you do your work.

Juan Guzman is a good English teacher where he has a specific theme for the semester. He would provide good feedback when your writing your essay. Doesn't give a lot of class work but will give you homework from the text or book.

My professor was well organized and the class ran smooth. He was always very clear with instructions and it is probably my favorite yet.

If you participate in class, homework turns out to be really easier. He's an easy going teacher, never heard him yell or complain about his students.

Good Teacher, would take again. Fun and interesting class, makes school not so dull and robotic. Easy if you get English English is your best subject. Creativity, effort and participation are the way to go to get a decent good grade and liked.

Mr Guzman is a great instructor! Gives good feedback and really cares about the students. Does require a lot of reading and writing but it's a English 1A class what were you expecting. You will learn a lot, trust me.

Mr. Guzman is an amazing instructor. He's very passionate, inspirational, and helpful. I am not perfect in writing but he makes me love his class. I highly recommend him, but everybody has their own style of learning. However, he gives a lot of homework, but if you keep up with it, you'll get an A.

Mr. Guzman is one of the beat teachers I've had. He sticks to the calendar so there's no surprises and I recommend you not miss class. Took him for the 6 week summer school. The class went by so fast. Do all your homework and be very organized in this class. I learned a lot in these 6 weeks. Commas are a big deal in this English class. Do not show up late!

Mr. Guzman is one of the best instructors I've had since attending City. He gives great feedback and that helped me to have more confidence as a writer. Honestly, just doing all the assignments and keeping up on the reading will help you achieve a good grade in the class. Don't be afraid to ask him for help, it does make a difference when you do!

Make sure you buy the books in advance. Offers a lot of extra credit; easy reading; slow to post to discussion boards; very easy class as long as you go

I love him!! I took his class for English 1b and he is an amazing teacher. he picked fun stories to read in class. He understands his students and is willing to work things out. he gives extra credit too. Definitely recommend taking him.

Best English teacher I've ever had. He loves what he teaches and dopes everything he can to help his students succeed. He's a bit unorganized but not too much. I had him for English 3 and literally all you have to do is go to class and do the very work and you'll pass!

Guzman was such a great teacher. He was kind and really seemed to enjoy his work. This class is a lot of work. He pushes you to your full potential & that's why I loved it so much. There's a lot of essays and reading . It's time consuming but worth it. You'll learn a lot. He cuts a lot of slack if he sees you're truly trying. Need books

This was my first time taking an English class in several years. Mr. Guzman was very approachable with questions or concerns. I never felt embarrassed if i didn't understand something. He seems to genuinely care about students success. He's a great professor!

I loved Guzman. You can tell he loved what he did and it showed when he taught us. I learned a lot about reading/writing in his class & it definitely prepared me for English 1A. We did do quit a few reading and about 5 essays but he lets you turn in a rough draft so he can check it before u turn in a final draft. Overall he's a great professor.

LOVE LOVE LOVED taking his class. He is really engaging and whatever you had questions on he'll go over whatever you don't understand. There are a lot of papers/essays he has you do but you'll live. He didn't really grade hard at all. He is such a good teacher though young & a lot energy. His class is a lot of work in the beginning but at the end of the semester it got easy. You read and write like any other English class but Guzman helps a lot so you'll pass if you do the work . Gaurenteed!!

He was great at explaining what he expected on every assignment. He may seem really hard in the beginning but he tends to get lenient towards the middle with grades. Attendance is a must ! just turn in every assignment. It's not hard to pass the class, easy A

Mr. Guzman is one of the best CLS professors! He is so funny and chill. It turns out the course I was taking was a literature class so there was lots of reading AND writing but mostly responses. He does teach English but doesn't grade like an English professor in the class. We had the chance to meet many writers and poets, that was really fun!!

Nice guy, have to read several books through the course, take notes for each chapter of each book, as it will help in the working papers, only have to do 3/4 working papers. Final was an Essay to do at home. Group projects based on where you sit. Open to feedback.

He was pretty chill over all. He kind of goes all over the places with his material choice and due dates aren't exactly clear so beware of that! Did not take any tests even though syllabus said so. Only negative is one major assignment can drop your grade down by 2 letters. Do all the work and try and find inspiration in the material!

Best professor Ive had in all of my college career. I wasnt interested in Chicanx Lit at all when I joined his class, but I am glad I did because I loved it.

An excellent teacher, if there is one thing he loves it is commas. :) If you are taking his summer class make you sure you go to class every single day, you will miss so much if you miss one day. If you are not a great reader I highly reccomend getting one of his books through audio. Come to class, do the work and you will pass.

simple class. show up as he goes over a lot of material. A lot of writing but its what you signed up for. Essay are not as hard as he will structure it for you in class if you ask. Just have to use your own ideas. Will specifically point out what he will grade. Gives good feedback on your work if you present it to him. Cool teacher.

Mr Guzman was amazing, not only did I take him for Eng3 but for Eng125. Class wasnt mandatory, but if you miss a class be sure you ask your classmates what your missing because everyday in class is heavy lectures if not there's a paper to write.

Never have I written a review on a teacher but I took Professor Guzman's CLS 21 class & I can't say enough good things about it! He is such an amazing, inspirational teacher/person! Literally sunshine in human form! Do the work & you'll pass with an A. Offers extra credit. One group presentation, few papers, no tests. One of the best teachers ever.

The tags may sound bad but he is a really good professor, gives amazing feed back. He is a person that really cares, and very nice! His communication is very clear! The only issue is, is that we had essays due almost every week. But he was willing to help you with them.

This professor is honestly amazing, I would definitely take his class all over again. We got to read an amazing book and the group project was so fun! 11/10 recommend

Professor Guzman is the best cls 21 teacher here at fresno city! He was very understanding when I told him about my family issues and he let me turn in assignments late . He grades fairly on papers and gives you good feedback. He is very knowledgeable and the readings to the class are excellent. No tests there are just papers.

Ive taken this instructor twice! Knows what hes teaching! & gives phenomenal feedback! If you bs an essay, he'll notice, & he'll show your essay on the screen for the whole class to see with your name. & point out whats total bull and whats good. So if your decent in english, i reccomend taking him. Because of this man, my Essays are stronger. GL!

Mr Guzman has been an amazing instructor. One of my favorite classes I have took. Didnt feel like work compared to other classes , passed with an A . Chicano latino studies is essentially a book club with your class mates . You will read books ,talk about those book ,write response and reflections and even get to meet the book authors !

Great professor, my favorite class from the spring semester. A few essays you gotta write, but he guides you through every one of them. The mid-term was also an essay that he prepares you for, as well as the final. Just show up to class and you'll pass.

Juan Guzman was definitely my favorite professor , took his Chicano Latino studies class fall 2021 very easy going guy , will always give you the benefit of the doubt , cares about his students and wants everyone to pass with an A . One of the best professors I've ever had! Respectful of your time, treats you like an adult (unlike some profs), and very personable. The kind of man who's a great educator because he's a great person. We had 5 required lit. texts but they're easy to get and inexpensive. He also posts PDF sections. Mostly discussion board work with 5 bigger papers.

Genuinely a great human being. He's easy on deadlines, very understanding, and clear on expectations. Highly recommend him :)

He's a great professor. I enjoy his class, his grading is fair gives feedback when you need it. Lots of reading mainly poems. Don't be afraid to ask questions he's approachable and really nice. He makes his class enjoyable. TAKE HIS CLASS! I definitely recommend!
