he is awesome! he is really funny, and tries to help his students as much as possible!

mr prieto is an amazing teacher. he tried his best to help me to learn. i could barely understand him at first but he tried and i tried and he's awesome.

He was a good teacher. And i'm not a female. He did have a heavy accent. Study... it's his favorite thing to say. Do HW practice problems and you will learn. If you dont pass this class, you just suck at math and don't ever study.

He requires you really learn mathematics. His tests are hard but he grades based on your general performance, he knows his job. His explanations are very clearly and logically. He is a multilingual person, he can explain in five different languages, especially if you don’t know English very well.

The class takes three exams and a final. your lowest test score will be replaced with your final exam. The book he uses for the class is really easy to understand. You turn in homework the day you take the exam so it gives a lot of time to do homework without stressing out. i recommend

He is very good. Do not take this class for an easy A in Calculus. He will go over the material with you as many times as you need but he won't give you any free answers. Very good teacher, somewhat of a hard accent but still understandable. Lot of work but he is very fair when grading.

attendance is a must, take a lot of notes, pay attention, do your homework, test are only 10 to 15 problems all of them are show work and answers are multiple choice...He's very helpful, he wants you to learn, heavy accent but a genuine person, very wise and comprehensive

He is a great teacher he was helpful on test if i had an answer wrong he would tell me to go and fix #5 for example so i knew it was wrong gave extra credit and is a cubanaso and yes speaks spanglish

i had pro. prieto for all my remedial courses up to mat 1033. i was sick at the end of the semester and didnt get to drop the class in time, he gave me an incomplete and had me take the class over, only to redo the tests i missed. he really cares not only to get a student to pass, but to get a student to pass and actually learn something.greatteach

Prof. Prieto-Valdes is the best teacher. I never liked math, actually i hate it, but he made it easy for me. I would recommend prof Prieto-Valdes to any one. He simplified Math in ways that I could completely understand. He can explain in different languages, depending from where you are. Some students don’t like that, others do.

I took him in summer of 07'. I don't understand why alot of people don't like this guy, he's a really nice teacher and the math is really clear & easy. If he see's that your not doing good he helps you and does not want you to fail the course, unlike most teachers at MDC. I am normally good at math so I got an A, but I would def take this teacher!

I got an F on his first test and he gave me extra credit and brought me up to a C. For the second test, I got a D and he recognised my hard work once again and gave me a C. My final grade was a B. The whole semester i was tense but he was extremely nice and recognised that i was always present, sat in the front, and did my homework. So he helped me

kk so sure the subject is hard but he is a great prof, he does move a little fast but I picked him for regestering late and I passed with an A, the entire class had A's & B's. down to eath prof, very helpful and clear. highly recomended always reviews before the test and does not put anything tricky on the test very straight foward

His accent is horrendous, BUT he is a great teacher. And make sure everyone understands. Even though i talked alot i understood the lessons, he had a name for my group "THE TERRORIST" hahahahaha

His accent is a little thick but still understandable. He usually forgets to take attendance lol. He only assumes his students understand the lesson because no one speaks up. But after every chapter he asks if everyone understands and urges you to speak up if you dont. His HWs are online which are really helpful.

Let me start off by saying that I love math. Dr. Prieto does have a thickaccent, makes up words, and goes a little fast. But he is really funny! He's always available for help (even during tests he gives you hints! HW is online and adds 10 pts to tets. I got an A and didn't have to take the final. Make sure you have the access code and are good at studying on your own. If you do all the homeworks which only count as 10 pts of extra credit per test and study online with the my math lab you should be ok. He can be a little hard to understand at first but is more than willing to help you out after class if you ask for it.

EASY. Now the Homework is not mandatory but if you do the homework it is 10pts extra credit on your test. There are only 4 tests and if the average of those 4 tests is a passing grade then you will not have to take the final. He has a very heavy Cuban accent. Those of you who speak Spanish should take this class. It will be easier to understand.

Never thought I could pass Calc let alone with a B! this professor really knows his stuff but expects you to know yours also. He doesn't take much time with prior knowledge like algebra and stuff your already supposed to know going into Calc. But if you stick in there this teacher will help you learn Calculus

Ive had to drop this class twice already. Taking it a third time with him was something I wish I could've done the first time around. The material is tough but he is more than willing to help you learn, understand the material, and get you to pass. Do well on your exams and he'll let you skip the final :) I would definitely recommend taking him!

There are five tests, a midterm and final. Mandatory mymathlab homework and discussions. You have to get 60% on final and midterm to pass course. He replied quickly to my email except in midterm week so beware. He gives a 'cheat sheet' for final and midterm with formulas. Homework isn't like tests but he has practice exams. He was nice.

I took this professor for mac1105 and it was a good decision ! I learned Mathematics. He give 10 extracredit points for the homewor, so you get the point but you have to work.

First off I don't recommend MAC1147 to anyone specially in the summer when I took it. However professor Valdes is a great professor, he is a very kind and caring teacher helping you with due dates and anything he can. His class is straight forward, but you NEED to study TRIG in advance to do well in MAC1147. I recommend him any day. Great teacher.

The homework assignments is easy and it help you understand the test better. professor gave 3 test and the final is optional. Homework is added for extra credit on the test. he is cool, helpful and understanding. do your homework and make sure you do the test. the test is only 12- 13 questions no work has to be shown.

Professor Prieto-Valdes has a unique way of teaching. If you pay attention you will definitely understand him. He gives extra credit for doing homework, and sometimes he even gives extra credit for doing the reviews. He adds those points to the test. You have a lot of chances to pass the class with a high grade.

Mr. Prieto REALLY cares about his students and will help you in anyway he can. He is extremely caring and is very smart. In the class he has 3 tests and an optional final. Mr. Prieto has a slight accent but if you study hard for the tests and learn the material you should be able to pass with a good grade.

This is 2 classes in 1, you need to know previous math, go to class , and study! Although his accent might make it hard to understand he explains very well and answers all questions. His book helps a lot and has many examples to practice. Homework is extra credit, if you do good on the 3 tests, which he reviews for, you skip the final.

Professor Valdes is amazing! All homework is extra credit (10 points towards each test) so you get great practice and a huge boost on every test. His lectures are detailed and teach the information clearly, plus he'll teach shortcuts to make math even easier. His accent can be thick and he'll speak some Spanglish so non-Spanish speakers beware.

super blessed to take this professors, the videos in his website are so super helpful, he gives 10 extra points on each test for doing the hw. There are three tests and one optional final and for extra credit is homework and projects. It is so super understanding and his class helps you get a good grasp of calculus

Oh man, I wish I have him for MAC2311, this guy is AMAZING. He makes sure you really understand where things are coming from. There's a lot of homework but I guarantee you, if you do it, you'll end up with a good grade.I started liking math after him and cannot thank him enough for everything I've learned. Took him this summer. Tough course, but he's very helpful. Theres not much work in this class, honestly. Theres only 4 modules (4 exams), 4 discussion boards, MyMathLab, and finals. The due dates aren't firm except on exams, you have the whole semester for MyMathLab and discussions. Also a very easy grader. Would definitely recommend!
