Very upbeat and fun class! Awesome teacher, the best I've had! Always available during office hours and insures that every student understands what's going on!

He's a nice teacher. I don't recomend him because he will confuse you in the trigonometry part. He's test are also tricky. You have to think like he does when you answer the questions. If you have a take home test. Be prepare to sweat it. He is never prepare for class either.
Very nice teacher I took him for Elem. Alg and College Alg. Funny Too!!
nice guy
I love molina..his lessons go really fast but he encourages you to ask questions in order to slow him down and hes always available for extra help during office hours and communicates great(esp. through email) he's also funny as hell and runs a more relaxed easy going class
he does go kind of fast i liked the guy but his class was semi hard but he is always smiling and happy upbeat and funny however he is late to every class

a very cool guy, calc 2 is a hard class though
Nice guy and tons of homework. He explains things in extreme detail. I wouldn't recomend taking this class if you don't have a strong Alg/Trig background. He expects you to show your process for every test problem. You can get the entire problem wronge, even you have the right answer, watch out for that, that's what tripped me up on the first test.
Doesn't care that the subject material is difficult and tests as if you majored in calculus instead of remembering youre just now learning it! His tests are HARD,homework does NOT help prepare you! He says many things that NEVER happen, quizzes and homework are NEVER picked up or done on time/in schedule. DEFINITELY A VERY HORRIBLE ACC PROFESSOR
A lot of homework
this was a very hard class. he is not very good at explaining himself.
Molina was one of the best math teachers i've had. He explained everything well and was available for questions outside of class. He also had a good sense of humor!
Took him as distance learning class for College Algebra. He was great, goes by the book, answers emails promptly. Very good about explaining if you have Q's, and good about giving partial credit on tests when applicable. The class is hard, but that's the material, not the prof. He's great!
Took Him For Distance Algebra Fall 2008. Cool, funny, friendly, and down-to-earth. Tests were almost exactly the same as homeworks. Do the homeworks and you'll be set for making an A on the test and in the class. He is also flexible if things go wrong due to illness/issues. He takes 2 weeks to grade your test. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 4 distance classes!
this guy is awesome and I would recommend him to anyone taking remedial math. Even though its easy already, he takes the time to explain it to you in detail. There is a lot of homework but it helps you out a lot plus he lets you correct the tests for extra points.
Mr. Molina is very helpful in explaining algebra. I HATE math and his lectures are actually interesting, or at least as interesting as an algebra lecture can be!
HE IS THE ONLY MATH PROFESSOR I FOUND, WHO IS OUT OF THIS WORLD.
HE IS THE ONLY PROFESSOR I FOUND, WHO IS OUT OF WORLD. HE TEACH LIKE A FRIEND.
The best teacher i every had. Juan loves his students and is willing to work with u outside of class. He is a great teacher but his test can be quite difficult but if u ask him for help he will help. But Calculus is not meant to be easy, its challenging at times, just remeber your algebra!
Mr. molina is the beez neez! i recommend him to anyone. i took his 6wk colege algebra class over the summer & he warned us of the difficulty but u have to be willing to come to every class & study. i happen to love math, but he makes it interesting & he makes sure u understand, but he expects u to know alegbra well enough to take a college alg clas
Professor Molina goes very fast, has a lot of homework and doesn't explain himself very well. If math is hard for you DO NOT take him. None of his assignments prepare you for the tests and the notes aren't very helpful.
He is not approachable. Also I found him extremely sarcastic. His tests are hard. You need to take tutor help to clear your doubts and to pass the tests. If math is not your favorite subject, then you really need to work hard. At the beginning there were 25 students and by the end of the semester only 8 - 10 were left.
Juan was very cool...I hate math and pulled a C. Sometimes when you as a question he tells you that it's a Elementary Alg question THEN answers it...that is the only thing I didnt like.
A great professor, very helpful, motivated, and know the material very well. Assign a lot extra credit for every test. Cal II is a hard class that's the only reason his tests are hard, but fair!!! What he covers in class, he asked in the test. Overall, highly recommend him if you really wants to learn the material... otherwise "the power is with you."
Mr. molina is a really cool guy he is always willing to help you and works really good with your schedule. he is a great guy I had to drop the class due to my schedule, but I'm looking forward to take him again.
He is really good. He explains good. He is flexible at marks. Test are hard prepare you for calculus.
Tests are not over what is studied. This is only about ONLINE course. DEFINITELY do not take this class unless your already proficient in Algebra.
I had a hard time in the class but it was due to my own circumstances; not the professor. I also took a short term online class. There is not a lot of homework but that isn't always a good thing in math. Professor Molina is SUPER helpful and available. You can tell he actually cares whether or not you are learning the material. Great teacher
His lack of commitment with the student is very sad for someone that is teaching a distance class where there are no lectures. If you take a class with him go to the tutoring center every day and good luck. You'll need it.
Prereqs should be different for class. Requires alot of advanced algebra, tons of time. The HW and extra tutoring still does not prepare you for his test. Worst class and experience of my life. Would not take him again especially if you want to maintain a good GPA.
I have never been very good at Math, but Professor Molina explains everything so well in his lectures. You spend alot of time working on the dry erase boards, this was very helpful because it allowed him to assist you if you were having trouble.Very relaxed professor, but he expects you to do your homework and pay attention in class.I would recommend!
The course moves quickly & covers tough material. You'll need to study both the on-line lectures and the text in order to grasp the subject in a substantial manner. I found Prof's test review sheets confusing and too long. The exams were VERY long (plan on 3+ hrs each). He grades fairly, but you'll have to study a lot. It's College Algebra!
I took Calculus I with Professor Molina. The course material is pretty tough, but I think he does a good job explaining the concepts. He is friendly and makes you comfortable to be in his class. Grades consists of about 10 quizzes (questions pulled from the assigned homework), 3 or 4 exams and the cumulative final exam. I highly recommend this guy.
Professor Molina may be a great teacher for lecture classes but not online. His office hours are only Tues & Thurs for two hours during the day and he didn't return my email when I asked for guidance. He hardly utilizes MyMath Lab either. Test was harder than review. I've taken 2 other online Math classes & done really well. Would not recommend
Grading is very fair. I am not good at math and have worked hard this semester for what I expect to be a B after taking the final. I wish he would open up a discussion forum for students to organize through easier for questions and study groups when he is not available. A sense of community would be nice in a DL class. Overall good experience.
can not remember how many times he never give lectures at all,he starts from the questions which you need learn at home.he doesn't explain well. Give too many homework. no attendance credit but if u miss 4 class he will drop u. 27 students, 8 were left. Good thing is he answers email and u can ask in his office. never take his class again!
Professor Molina is good at explaining the concepts. The bad thing is too much home work which might help you build your ability but still he is not clear in his grading system... difficult exams... and unorganized since he repeats himself sometimes.. If you are good at maths take the class.. if you're not, you're screwed!!
I took Molina for Basic Math Skills and Elementary Algebra and I can say he helped me a LOT with my math skills. He beats down on showing your work but I think it helps you to learn the concept. He's also a clever guy. Definitely recommend him as he does a good job explaining things out for you.
I highly recommend taking Juan's Calc 1 class. He makes everything very clear and wants his students to succeed. If you require extra help, he will gladly meet you for coffee at Cafe Java and clear up any and all questions. Truly a brilliant mathematician and fantastic teacher.
Calc I with Molina was hard. The tests and bookwork are hard (word problems). Makes you think conceptually. Gives enough extra credit to where you can make a A. That being said, you will work. I'm currently in calc II at UT, and it's way easier... He's really helpful though, you can go to his office hours anytime for help. Good luck!
Having Mr. Molina as a professor during my senior year for a dual-credit algebra class was amazing! He was so helpful and every Friday, he took time out of his day to tutor me and my fellow classmates. His tests ask for very specific steps and processes, but because of the assignments that were given to us, I had no problems at all!
The hardest math class I've taken. Homework is excessive and tests are very difficult. I studied for days then look at the test and wonder if this is the right test. You have to be very good at math to even get a C in this class. Lectures are answering questions from book, on board and in speech when he calls on you; be ready. Try another teacher.
Professor Molina was always willing to help nut I was never able to grasp what he was trying to teach. I had to drop because his tests were difficult even after completing all homework and reviews. Disappointing to say the least. I would recommend looking for another teacher.
After some teachers at Berkeley I thought any future classes would be easy. I was very wrong. The grade ratings on this are skewed. 3 people in my class made A's and it was only because of 6 hour study groups 4 times a week. That being said, he is a great teacher and wants the best for everyone. Be prepared to complete half the books problems.
Grading is all over the place depending on who you are. Several times I had to argue with him in order to get back points that other students didnt get docked even though answers were identical. On another occasion, i had 45 points deducted on a problem even though i did the correct proceedure and got the right answer
Professor Molina assigns a lot of homework because the idea is for you to understand the material in the long run, not just to pass tests. And, surprise, this idea works. The tests are actually slightly easier than the homework, and if you have questions, Professor Molina is always ready to help you out - be it through email or during office hours.
Do you like to be challenged? Are you good at teaching yourself? In this class you will be expected to master all topics with little guidance and vague instruction. Grading criteria is unclear and inconsistent.
Getting back to school after years & living in US just for a year, I was really anxious about Calc I. But he made it easy for me. His classes are fun. Go to classes, and do all your homework, you won't have problem with the exam questions, there're pretty much the same material. I am so sad that my schedule didn't let me the take Calc II with him.
Great teacher! This German speaking Conquistador makes math relatable!
Best math professor at ACC he's friendly and when you need him he's there to help
Best professor
Zero consistency in grading. Excessive amounts of homework and very late when grading tests, His teaching was alright, however nearly everything outside of the class was frustrating. Required Textbook also costed over $150.
Learning Calculus with Professor Molina was a positive experience in my life. He has a great personality and his class is enjoyable. Calculus can have its ups and downs, do not give up and always push ahead.
Math is my weakest subject, somehow I actually got a B. He is very picky on how the written homework is presented, so make sure there aren't any smudges/stains, etc. He grades homework by completion and only checks the work on one or two problems. I think the longest test had 18 questions, but he bases the grade on showing your work.
The sheer volume of students he attends to during his office hours is insane. He has the patience of a saint and cares about his students. If you don't understand a topic, just go to his office and he will work with you. His lectures are fun and interactive. He provides clear feedback on HW and Test marks. Solid choice.
Prof Molina is very good at making concepts that look like gibberish in the book, clear on the board through explanation and specifically shown steps. He is a stickler for notation, but that just makes your understanding through practice that much more complete. Highly recommended for his wit and attention to each student's needs.
Molina runs a reverse classroom which means that you'll have to teach all of the concepts to yourself. He is readily available outside of class but he won't teach anything in class; he just goes over stuff you took a quiz/did homework for. You'll get three homework assignments and a quiz for every module. Requires 10+ hours a week outside of class
Molina is amazing. He really cares about all of his students. If you have a question, you can email him and he'll respond in minutes (usally with a diagram). He's all about notation, but he's pretty clear about what he wants. That said, if you're not interested in taking a math past 1314 he might not be the professor for you.
Professor Molina is the best! His lectures are easy to follow and he provided several examples prior to homework. His test reviews are clear and he makes himself accessible to ask questions outside of class. His tests are tough but he provided partial credit if he sees youre really trying. Overall, very caring and smart Professor!
I can currently say that formatting is what is valued just as much as the work and answers shown. While I can understand the decision to a certain extent the sheer volume of things to worry about will hinder your experience. I recommend taking someone less demanding because its frustrating to be graded on format rather than whether you got it wrong
He is clear of what he wants . Although there are lots of homework and test review every week, these assignments really help a lot when it comes to tests.
Teacher really made you work for the grade. If you have questions sometimes he wont directly answer you until he gets you to think about it. Hes available before and after class to go over any information you have questions on. Very helpful and nice. Interesting teaching style.
Worst Professor I had ever experienced in my life. His test questions are very tough and the way he does grading is tougher which make student disappointed. Don't expect anything to learn in his class, you have to learn on your own. His test questions are 100 % hard.
Is very accessible and tries his best to help out, but his class structure and LONG exams make it very difficult to do well. HW, Quizzes, and Reviews constitute about 40% of your grade, which seems great, but then you realize how tough a grader he is and the amount of work required for every question. No wonder he offers so much extra credit.
Mr Molina is one I would come back to. He's very knowledgeable & always willing to help . Specifically MATH 1314, where most arent as engaged being a basic math class, Molina never disappoints with witty jokes & funny scenarios. Took the 6 wk class so ALOT of hw (60 pb/night) & weekly quizzes and tests but LEGIT out of the lectures/hw. SO SHOW UP!
I took him for Math 2415 for the first time. His test is very hard he is the worst professor to take. If you want to get a good grade meet another lecturer. His marking scheme is terrible. No web assign and the rest. As far as I am concerned this lecturer has lost my respect. I can't imagine I burnt my fuel to Highland for nothing.
This class was really hard to do well in especially the Professor. He grades tests and quizzes inconsistently which makes it really hard to do well in the course. Lecture notes can be a bit confusing which is hard to keep up. I do not recommend taking this Professor, take someone else.
The good: He's funny & interesting. The bad: Everything else. He's late to class a lot, very disorganized, doesn't follow through. But THE WORST IS HIS GRADING!! You'll get every answer right, follow directions to a T, but still get marked down enough to fail quizzes. Bizarre, inconsistent, arbitrary grading. Unclear! He wants you to read his mind.
Worst Professor.I wish I read the reviews before taking him. I signed up late and he was the last professor left go figure. You can get the answer right and hell take off points because you didnt do it his way. Enough points to fail. Dont take him.
great professor that is always available for help outside of class. everything comes from the lectures, study all the lecture notes and you will be fine for the quizzes. offers lots of extra credit and is a tough grader but you won't make the same mistake twice.
He's one of the worst professor ever. His tests are very hard and tricky. His test problems are much more harder than what we learn from lectures, so he will try to trick you. You will have to be ready for anything. He is also a tough grader and his final exam is also hard too. Do not take him if you want to save your grade. Horrible experience.
Terrible professor. His exams are really hard, especially his final exam. They are not related from what we learned in lectures or on the homework. He is very tough on grading. He will take a lot of points off even if you got the right answer. He is not helpful either. Overall it was one of the worst class I ever taken. Do NOT take him.
I don't think he is bad at teaching the class, but the way he grades things is extremely tedious and very strict. The tests compared to the homework is exponentially more difficult in my opinion. He is willing to help you if you go out of your way to ask him and he does give extra credit opportunities, but you will struggle in his class.
Please heed the warnings from other Reviews. Routinely skips steps when explaining problems. While going over said problems, students are correcting his work nearly every single lecture. Homework problems are significantly more difficult than the problems he goes over during class. I would not recommend taking his class unless you have no choice.
His tests are way harder than the examples provided during lecture. He doesnt explain very well and takes too many points off. Very bad experience, this is the first time I had to struggle and received a bad grade. Never had issue with math before. Do not take him, not recommending at all!
Professor does whatever he wants with grades, very unorganized. His tests are long, hard, and very tedious. Sometimes featuring material you haven't covered in class yet. If you don't have to take his class I wouldn't! You've been warned. More than half of my class dropped by the end of the semester.
Lots of homework, sometimes at short notice, and ever-changing deadlines were difficult to keep up with. Few concessions made for people with day jobs or other responsibilities. During class, he is nice enough, but grading is very tough. Minor mistakes lead to large and inconsistent deductions. Emailed questions generally not answered thoroughly.
Doesn't care about his students. He is very inconsiderate if you have a job or other duties outside of school. Grading is inconsistent and he takes of 10 points for the most minuscule errors. If you learn other ways to solve the problem and don't do it how he taught in class he takes points off. Mediocre lecturer at best. Completely useless.
Funny guy, although lectures are long and boring. Worst parts of the class are the ALEKS and worksheet assignments. Get through ALEKS by reading the explanation and resetting the problem, worksheets get easier as he asks for less problems. If you get stuck with smthn you're better off YouTubing it than asking him, he tends to repeat his lectures
Professor Molina stresses in the beginning of the semester what he expects. If you follow through, attend class with undivided attention, and take advantage of his office hours, you will do well; or at the least, pass the class. No matter how tedious, do the homework and the reviews for the test, they help immensely!
Might have been a better teacher in person. He wants answers to specific questions he doesn't review well and you'll feel like you're not doing enough. its better to give real world examples. Take another professor who is willing to give an amazing lecture instead of calling on each person, thats why no one wanted to be in class or participate.
Terrible professor. Don't take him at all. Petty and unfair grading, doesn't care about his students, everything has to be his way. If you don't have the exact format or solve problems in the exact way he asks, you are destined to get low grades. Do yourself a favor and take someone else. You are going to regret every day you attend this class.
He is a horrible professor. He is a tough grader and his exams are really hard. The final exam was the hardest. He also likes to pick on random students to answer his questions in class. I would not recommend.
He does call on random students to answer his questions in class, so there will be active participation. He takes attendance every day, so coming to class is mandatory. He gives hard exams and he is very picky on grading. He is not lenient. If you want to save your grade, then take someone else.
I regret taking his class. Do not take him.
Be ready for active participation in the class. He assigns a lot of homework and his exams are really hard.
I really disliked his teaching style. He is very disorganized with due dates and changes them often. He grades very intensely, and the lectures/reviews are barely like the questions on the test. We started the semester with over 30 students in our class and in the end, we have 12. Good luck.
Professor Molina is an EXTREMELY hard grader for Tests and Worksheets and is a stickler for perfection when it comes to these Tests and Worksheets. There is a lot of online HW but it is fairly easy. I studied my BUTT off and the highest test grade I got was a 61. Oh, and get ready to get called on in class to answer questions...
Prof. Molina seemed nice and helpful at the start, but as time went on, he started to get really harsh and got mad at students for not understanding concepts. One part that made me angry, is that he was supposed to have an extra credit session. He canceled the session less then 4 hours before the session and we didn't didn't get any extra credit.
Professor Molina is really strict when it comes to grading tests and group worksheets, even though his lectures aren't even as specific as he grades. He's also kind of condescending during class when he picks on people to work out problems, and he's so paranoid when he's proctoring tests. The entire semester was just a really bad experience.
Horrible teacher that will ruin your grade. Made constant major mistakes during lectures which would make the whole concept confusing. Tests are extremely hard and confusing as he will find a way to take off every little detail that he can find. A terrible grader. You may have the correct process and answer but will randomly take points off.
Very harsh grader. You have to show your work EXACTLY how he does it. He asks 3 different types of questions. Lecture questions. Test Questions. Worksheet questions. His test questions don't really correlate w/ class or the worksheets. You have group worksheets which you have to meet outside of class w/ your group and record the session. WorstClass
I Took this professor in ACC two years back and he is the worst of the worst. I later made an A in calculus iii with a more caring and loving lecturer. As a potential academic advisor let me warn you!!!! If you want to save your GPA do not take him. Please dont. I had a GPA of 3.8 and it dropped to a 3.4 if not that I had been making straight A's.
Please Do not take him, I was so foolish not to balance my work and school which made me fail his class. I was later sacked because of this man and I regretted changing my schedule because he just was so mean to me. The man insulted me in the class and grades so harshly. The test is 20 times difficult than what we did in the class. Be warned!!!
Students taking this class in person I want you to learn from my mistake. In case you take him in person do not allow him to not balance activities. This mean so means that he would make you suffer for everything. He is too strict in homework, test(The hardest question), and the exams are 20 times difficult than the lectures in class. Be Wise!!!!!!
DO. NOT. TAKE. HIM. Worst professor. Does give extra credit. Tests are impossible. Group work has to be done outside of class with your group. Extremely harsh grader. Has to be done EXACTLY his way. I've never had a C in my life, he's my first. Would NOT recommend him. Asks 3 types of questions. Lecture ?'s, Group work, and Test ?'s.
Good god NEVER take a 6 weeks class EVER. Very nice and funny professor but even when I thought I understood and I got a 100 on the homework I would bomb the tests. He also had an after class study group that you had to pay for. I feel like everyone that didn't attend it didn't pass.
Prof Molina is a tough professor, to be sure. Lot's of homework, group assignments to be done outside of class, and tests that make your brain hurt. He grades meticulously, so every "i" needs to be dotted or you lose points. However, if you're willing (and able to) put in the time, he will make sure you succeed. He cares more than most I've seen.
He's very clear on what he wants to see on exams, the course is rigorous and not easy. Some of that is certainly the material, but there is a lot of homework and if you miss a line in the problem solving process you will be docked points. If however, you get the wrong answer but show all the correct steps there is more partial credit than less.
Unclear, not well structured, insulting but it's cool because he meant it as a joke right?... Avoid this professor at all cost. He assigns group assignments which means you depend on others for 2 letter grades. He likes to e-mail after 10pm, his blackboard is a mess, doesn't stick to syllabus, dates, or grading structure. It was a nightmare.
I don't understand all these negative comments, Professor Molina is a genuine mensch. If you need accommodations just ask, he's very receptive. The easiest problems he gives are on the tests. He's very specific about the formatting for some homework but if you just follow the written instructions he gives you, you won't have any problems.
First off if you have any issues he hardly ever responds to emails. He assigns 100-200 homework questions on a combination of mymath written homework that must be a very specific format. does not follow the syllabus. Extremely difficult at grading. Lecture does not help at all unless you already know the material. Avoid prof molina at all costs
He is very unorganized. He grades you very VERY harshly. You have to do the work exactly as he shows it otherwise he takes many points off. I wouldn't recommend him if you're taking this as an online course and only take him if you are very responsible and disciplined and stay on top of homework/studying.
I had a great time taking professor molina! He is very particular about how he wants something however he is so good at explaining! Just make sure to ask questions and put the work and you will do great! He answers emails pretty quick, believe me when I say I emailed him a lot about doubts on problems.
The amount of work he gave us was also ridiculous. We would get penalized on exams if 100% of the homework was not completed and that was not fair. His grading was harsh on exams. Out of all the students in my class, around half dropped the course. I have not had a single conversation with a student who took him who says anything good about him.
His lectures are good and he does well on explaining things but he is such a tough grader. Will often give you an extra credit question worth 20 points or so but it is hard to earn all of the those points. He picks students during lectures to solve problems.. Started with about 36 students and more than half dropped the course
He's a great guy, but his teachings never stuck with me or my classmates. He calls on people randomly. Online tests were proctored ridiculously strictly (cameras on, laptops and papers in view). I could never turn assignments in on time because he opened the windows way later than he said he would. Don't take this class if you don't like homework!
DON'T TAKE. His course is extremely fast paced, if he finishes a section with only 10 minutes left in class he will immediately start a new section, even if that was the last section covered on a test. He gives between 50-100 hw problems weekly and says that is just the department standard. Course grade is made up of 3 tests which he grades HARD!
Don't take this professor. He gives way too much hw, and his tests are way too difficult. He also grades very hard and is way to fast-paced for anyone looking to actually learn and/or do well in Calculus II
His Lectures often become sidetracked, and the material is shallow to what's expected in the homework and quizzes. He assigns homework through MyLabMath and from the textbook with little to no announcement of which days each is due. He has added additional homework to be appended to existing assignments a day before its due date a couple of times.
Great class! Learned a lot about Multivariate calculus.
Can't stress it enough to not take this class. One of the hardest classes I've ever taken and just an absolute time suck. I spent so much time doing homework and group work in this class just to not pass. From the awful online textbook hws that aren't worth anything percentage-wise to extremely difficult group work.
Homework-Mymathlab.Takes hours-needed for grade. Unrelated to what is on quizzes or tests..Syllabus/test dates unclear.Does not review for tests, except for final. Assigns random questions from book to practice for test... questions dont relate to what is on the test... Does replace lowest of first 2 tests with highest grade.I suggest avoiding
Gives out way too much HW and lectures are surface level at best. He barely goes over actual theory for questions and instead just goes over examples. Even then he gets them wrong and students had to correct him. Exams are graded way too harshly. If you don't do it EXACTLY how he wants he will take a ridiculous amount of points off.
Does have extra credit and he does reply fairly quickly to emails. However, the exams are graded quite harshly. Many times I had the correct answer but I would get over half the points taken off due to not doing the specific steps he wanted. There was almost 20 people in the class on the first day, but only 8 of us at the end.
Avoid him if you can! Literally felt like I was drowning the whole semester when I took him. He rushes through the material and gives out way too much homework. Not only did my class have about 80+ questions of hw on mymathlab due for each section. We also had written hw problems due with about 15-20+ questions. Too overwhelming and rushed through.
This professor is ridiculously overzealous in their grading. Multiple times, I arrived at the correct answer on a test only to receive less than 1/2 of the points for the question because prof. Molina "Couldn't follow my process". I would be more ok with this if he at least told us the processes we should/shouldn't use. Also, the HW load is insane.
Grading and homework was tough, but I left this class feeling like I know Calc 2. I didn't get above an 85 on any of the tests, but he offers enough extra credit that I still got an A.
I took Calculus 2 with Mr. Molina for my fall semester and would say it was overall a great experience! I honestly don't understand all the negative reviews about him. Don't get me wrong, he's indeed a tough grader and gives you a lot of homework problems for sure, so be prepared to do lots of assignment. Just don't skip his classes.
I haven't touched math for 6 years and took him for Cal 1 in the spring. He encouraged me to ask questions during class and patiently explained the concepts until I grasped them. Some tricky questions on the test, but always offer extra credit to make up for it. Stays after every class for office hours. Can't take him for Cal 2 other wise I would.
Molina is a very funny professor and makes the class extremely enjoyable. I wish I could take him for Calc 2
Took Calc 3 this summer, but my experience was ruined. Attendance is mandatory, requiring 2.5 hours with cameras on, while the professor didn't turn on his. There was excessive homework, with unclear due dates and sudden additions on Blackboard. He was a harsh grader, deducting points for not starting problems on a new page. Overall bad experience.
His homework is nothing like his Calc 3 tests. Very hard prof and his grading doesn't make any sense
took his calculas 3 class over the summer, one of the worst prof to take. He gives us a lot of homework even though they are nothing like his tests. he makes us turn on his camera, but his camera is lalways off.
I had him for Calc 3 summer class, and it is insane how little material can come out of a professor's mouth based on the amount he talks. Classes were 3 hours long, and he called on students and then belittled them when they did not understand. It is extremely hard to learn like this as an anxious learner, and I studied relentlessly to pass exams.
Overall a good professor. He's nice and will joke around with the students. Lot of homework and very test-heavy but it's a higher-level math class. Will answer emails on the weekends. Attendance is mandatory and the lectures can be boring but are necessary. He is very available.
Doesn't help with anything
Professor Molina is definitely a challenging instructor. If you're taking their class, be prepared for a heavy workload—there's a lot of homework, and the tests are no joke. They have high expectations and grade pretty tough, so it's not an easy A.
Horrid. He invades privacy, requiring students to set up both a front and back camera. He's rude, & can't teach. His grading is unfair, expecting too much. He doesn't follow his own word, requiring that students turn on their camera when he doesn't, and he doesn't show nearly as much work as he expects on assignments making assignments misleading.
Molina is the best professor I've had at ACC. I'm roughly 30 credits in and have had a myriad of "quality" in professors at this school. Molina is top tier. If you're an A student normally, you'll do well in (and love) his class. If you're just showing up for class and don't care about grades you'll hate it. Wish he did Calc 2 and 3 online.
By far the worst professor I've ever had. Does not respect disability/ accommodations, was racist and rude. When someone asks a question, he humiliates them throughout the rest of lecture. Only teaches in one way and incapable of helping when you ask him to explain it a different way. Never turns camera on but makes us keep ours on.
-Moved almost every test date due to his lack of preparation -Believes his method of tackling an idea or problem is the only right method; Close minded -Doesn't post grades on Blackboard until the end of the course. -Tough grader, grades unequally and unfairly. Takes off a lot of points on work although student's understanding of problem is clear.
Not for everyone, but I loved him. He's personable, and engages his students. Will answer your questions, but you have to make it clear what you're asking. Expect a good amount of homework. Also expect him to grade exactly how he tells you he will. Follow his process and do the homework and by EOY you'll feel like you know calc II front and back.
do the work, and you will be ok. plenty of extra credit. make sure to take good notes and follow his process, and repeat it on tests to get all points. he can be a little slow at times.
Honestly, Professor Molina was a good professor, and can explain things well as long as you focus on what he's saying. He likes to crack jokes, but I simply didn't pay attention enough and dedicate myself to the workload or class, which is why I failed. He's truly a good instructor and you can learn a lot from him.
Took him for Diff Eq which doesn't show up for the course selection options. He is terrible. I got a 60 on a test where I got every answer right. His grading is so bad. This is coming from a straight A student, this is my first C at ACC.
I took this class in Fall 2024. Lots of homework is assigned, but it is necessary in order to do well in this class. Calculus 2 is known to be difficult and is often said to be more difficult than Calculus 3 (me included). I think he tried his best to make the course as easy as possible. Extra credit is awarded for attending office hours.
Very harsh grader. On exams he does not give partial credit if you solve the question in a different way than he teaches and will give no credit even if all of the set up is correct. Tons of homework. He gives a calendar but does not follow it. He spends longer on some chapters but then rushes others.
He can be kind of intimidating during lectures, but he guides you through the problems very well. He's pretty straight to the point with the content, assigns a lot of hw that can take a while to finish, but overall I enjoyed the class. The test problems are the same from lectures and worksheets. I would take him again for calc 1.

Funny guy, with interesting lectures. Calc 2 was tough, went through >2 notebooks of paper throughout the whole ordeal. Tests make up 90% of the grade, grades very harsh. (Got an 80% on a test I got all the answers correct). Be concise with your work. Gives 15 possible points of EC/test as well as final replaces lowest test. Definitely a grind.
Extremely rigid grading. You must explain and solve problems exactly his way or lose points, even if the solution is correct. Homework, reviews, and tutoring do not adequately prepare you for exams.
