Has an accent, and took him for the Lab section of CHM 1045. He is nice enough to help you out if you talk to him.

He has a thick accent but is very willing to get better at it. His explanations are extremely clear but you have to attend class and truly listen. The homeworks are also very helpful if you do them before each test. In MAT 0029 we had 4 tests and homework due for each. Great professor overall. Really funny too.

I took his course for a mini semester. It was fast paced but he explains the topic clearly and is willing to repeat it if students ask. I had this professor in summer. It was great professor. He explained all the classes clearly. He send the guidelines before you take the test which is amazing. He speak both languaje, English and Spanish. He will help you when you need it. Also, he will give you bonus or extra credit if you participate in class. I strongly recommend him.

Easy class, 4 tests, study guides for each one. Heavy on lectures and whatnot, but as long as you do the online assignments and study a little, you should pass.

If you do a little extra work outside of class to clear up concepts you have issues with, you should be able to get an A. His practice tests and study guides cover EXACTLY what you need to know to do well. If you think he's "hard to understand" you just aren't trying.

Professor Otero really knows what he's doing, Calculus is so far one the hardest math class you could ever do in your life, but he makes it really simple. Calculus is hard, no matter who is your professor, but if you want a professor that is willing to teach you and actually work with you, this is a great professor for you and overall he is a great professor ,really cares about his students and he really knows the content.

The Professior took the time to speak to me about my grades and was very helpful concerning extra credit. no many test, only four. if you pay attention, you'll pick up the work easily. you get graded on your attendance, so i wouldn't miss.

An amazing Professor. He tries to help out students who have difficulty. Classes are PowerPoint and are available in blackboard on that week. Homeworks, though counts little of the grade, helps very well in understanding the material better. He even gives out reviews. Practice tests can help give extra credit for the respective test.

Professor Juan Otero is a great person and cares for his students. Ask alot of questions and he will be there to help out with what you need. Gives helpful practice tests to help with your actual quiz. I would take him again if i had to continue Math lectures. Pay attention and show up to class and you will pass.

I really like Professor Otero. He gives some homework for you to understand the material. Always gives practice test days before actual test and almost same questions. 4 test, and some homework. show up to class. Homework on mymathlab meaning lots of example. Easiest A for me.

Prof Otero was great overall. The material can get confusing at times but he is willing to explain it until everyone gets it. He gives a lot of time to complete the homework and then there are only 4 tests. The test he usually opens to complete on the weekend and are very similar to the practice tests. He does count attendance.

This Prof is great, he is very caring and wants the students to pass. He gives hw but you have plenty of time to get it done. His tests are not proctored and uses mymathlab. he is accessible after class and is willing to work one on one with you. Attendance is not mandatory, just let him know your reasons. This is my first B+ in a math class.

He provides lectures, PowerPoints and videos and if we still don't understand he will go out of his way to help us out. This professor has been one of my favorite Math professors. Provided practice tests for all quizzes/tests. Lots of h.w on Mylabmath but you are able to view examples in the assignments so it was easy to work with. Has a strong accent but a big heart and wants you to pass. Easy A in my opinion. Put in the work.

Overall he is a good professor, he let's you redo your quiz or exams if you want to. The assignments in mymathlab sometimes be about something we didn't even cover. He wastes a lot of time in desmos. I don't like his teaching method because I cant understand what he is trying to explain. I took him cause my tutor recommend it, wont take him again.

Best Professor for MAC1105. I took him for an 8-week class. There are 5 quizzes, 9 hw's, and 1 test, all of which were on MyMathLab. His lectures consist of PowerPoint slides, everything was recorded. He does give extra credit for Kahoot game-winners and bonus questions. He is a caring and easy-going person. FYI: Get Chegg.

I took Professor Otero during summer A for Business cal and I really feel like it was the best-case scenario with him. Things were high paced which is expected for a 6-week course but he was still very clear and walked us through the steps multiple times. Professor Otero is a phenomenal professor at MDC. The only thing needed on your part is for you to study and be proactive in his class. Don't be afraid to ask any questions or concerns you may have. 10/10 Would recommend the professor we gave feedback on a quiz in the class being too many questions and not enough time and for the next quiz he only did 6 questions and gave us double the time. He is super understanding and caring, about 4 quizzes and they are NOT proctored they are on Pearson, there10 homework's for the whole 6 week semester.

Amazing! He's the most understanding prof. & let me retake 2 of my quizzes to improve my grade. He gave 2 xtra credit assignments that I completed but end up not needing. If you don't understand something he will stop and go over it as much as you need to get you to understand it. If there is any neg reviews its an issue within themselves trust me!

Excellent Professor. Homework is on MyMathLab with unlimited attempts, no midterm or final (Final is optional) 4 Exams (Proctored in Computer Lab) that are 30% so be sure to pass them. Extra Credit Project on the topic of graphing. Pay attention because the homework can get confusing if you're lost on one part of the module. He's really chill.

I actually took MAC2311 MAC2312 & MAC2313 with Prof Otero! He is caring and passionate about calculus. He's there to help anytime to ensure that we understand the subject. Our group had a nice dynamic, I respect him a lot. No midterm, the final is optional. He will revise your test to give you points on procedure and explain where you went wrong.

He is a great teacher who makes you passionate about calculus. Not only will he explain the concepts and formulas that you need to know, but he will also give a brief demonstration so that the student has an idea of where the formulas come from. If you are a student who is not only looking for a good grade but also to learn, his class is perfect.

He is a great professor who cares for his students. Despite the 6-week course duration, he explained every topic clearly. With 2 homework per week and helpful practice quizzes, learning was manageable. His concern for our understanding and future success in math classes was evident. I'd gladly take his class again.

I had class with Professor Otero during a summer semester. He is so kind and understanding, me and some classmates requested for a one day extension for a homework assignment, and he pushed multiple assignments back a couple days. He is very lenient and his class isn't difficult at all. He is very helpful and the final is optional.

So i took him during the summer, and at first he a little difficult, but eventually you just need to warm up to him and he can be a great teacher. Professor Otero is extremely understanding, however future notice because of his classes this semester. He has decided to make attendance mandatory and no longer has open notes on tests. His tests are still very easy and he posts a practice test that will have the exact type of questions. I still recommend to take him even with all of this.

Frequently makes mistakes when doing practice problems. Well educated but hard to understand him as he has a cuban accent & doesn't project his voice. Very understanding if you missing something, & willing to work with you to get your grade up. Used the ALEKS program so the tests were practically identical to the review (expect for the #s ofc).
