Not reccommended. Disorganized, unclear teaching style. Acts like a moody old lady, and obsessed with preaching his political views. Get Fingerhut instead.
Class can be really annoying but everything you learn in his class you’ll remember forever. This class is one of those things that you just have to get through and it’s not too bad. Read a few case here and there and listen in class, you’ll do fine. (The test are T/F do good luck)
Mr. Saiz is the****. Plain and simple. For this course you must read regarless, and yes at times he will express his opinion. He does teach, and this that type of class in which you will never forget what you learn. And it does apply to your everyday life. Just read and go to class. Thats it.
You must read for this class. Tests are true and false, not too easy and not too difficult. One thing's for sure: he is fair. And... work for the 3 extra points - I know I needed them.
Everything you learn in this class you will remember forever, there is reading involved and its best to be prepared for class because it does help you. There is no paper and tests are T/F. He gives you a review packet the first day of class which basically covers everything that will be on the test. Good luck!
Awesome professor! I try and take all of my criminal justice classes with him. Really interesting and cool teacher.

Come to class prepared, study his study guide and you'll be fine. No term paper and test T/F. Really explains court cases well. Notice his manerism are to scratch and pick, you'll see. Great guy.
Great Teacher.. I took him 4 like 7 classes
I took his Overview of CJ, Law+Crim. Justice and Crime and the Media classes. Do the readings. His review is great. His personality is awesome, I admire a professor who curses frequently. Tests are a mixed bag,(Matching, T&F, Short Answer, etc) therefo
hes super annoying !!! and gave us a 100 question t/f test!!!
If you study your stuff, passing should be easy. It's a lot of information but he tell's you what's on the test.
I took him for Crime and the media and some case law class, he's funny and entertaining but his tests can be really hard because of the amount of info you need to know. The Case law class I took with him was really hard and he understood that so he helped us out by curving the test, big time.

supper funny, tells you exactly what's on the test, had him for three cj classes and would take him again, totally recommend him
Great teacher!! However his tests are like 90 questions, and they are all true/false. I would definately take another class with him
great teacher. straight forward. no surprises. casual class environment. oh yea, study like never before.
Awesome teacher explains everything in detail. Tests are not easy at all, know what he goes over that will be on the test. Study & study some more.
He makes class easy and fun. Very funny and knows his stuff. Test are not hard if you study. Would take him agian.
Great teacher. He's very funny and makes the class fun. His exams are not the easiest. You have to study lots but as long as you go to class and take good notes, you'll know what to study. Make sure you know the handouts; they make up most of the exam. I would totally take another class with him. Good luck!
I've taken a few classes with him before and he's excellent! Very detailed, very clear and concise. His tests are not easy at all by any means. Your study habits and participation play a major role in passing this course. Must be prepared before class in case he calls on you. Most importantly, you will learn while in his class!!!! Funny too!
took him before, love him, he's supper funny, and easy, very understanding, tells you exactly what's on the test, all you have to do is study, totaly recommend him to all criminal justice majors, especially for constitution, it's a hard class, i took it with someone else and failed it, with Saiz I got a B+
Great teacher! He makes coming to class truly enjoyable, even at 8:00 am. The tests are difficult because he loves to use double-negatives. Read every question slowly and carefully and you do fine. REMEMBER…Slowly and carefully.
talks to much but he gives you a good speach before the test. get ready to read and study a lot
This man loves to hear the sound of his own voice.Be prepared to hear him rant and digress. You will breathe and eat cases. The handouts will save your life.Memorize them!Gives you necessary info for tests but usually wastes a good chunk of your time before sharing that with you.Loves to play devil's advocate, that or he's just a jerk.Good Luck!
He talks alot of s*** but if you can overlook that he is a great teacher. His test are 100 questions T/F fill in the blanks, but he lets you know what will be on the test. IF you study you will receive an A.
dont even bother going to class except to present your case. just read the handout! tests are long and kind of confusing but the questions are easy.
he is probably a great professor. my problem with him in this class is- he is this macho conservative man trying to teach a femenistic based course. it didnt work. and he just got annoying to listen to. his t/f tests are also very confusing.
HE MAKES CLASS VERY INTREASTED. GETS YOU INVOLVED AND JOKES. REAL DOWN TO EARTH TEACHER AND SAIDS WHAT EVER HE WANTS. THE CONTEXT IS ALSO TEACHED VERY WELL. MAKES YOU REALIZE WHY A WRONG ANSWER WOULD BE WRONG BEFORE MOVING ALONG TO THE NEXT SUBJECT. THE EXAMS ARE HARD BUT ONLY IF YOU DO NOT PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS AND YOU MUST READ AS WELL. I HAVE T
He is great teacher. He was very helpful and tried to help you understand everything. Reading the book of cases seemed pointless at first but as time passed I realized the point. It is not to memorize words from the cases, it is just to understand concepts and how laws came about and how they continue to change. I enjoyed his class very much.
His class is intresting. He likes to joke around a lot and tell stories that don't have anything to do with the cases, but you learn a lot. 2 tests 100 questions each t/f. BE PREPARED and go to class. you won't pass unless you do
challenging class but he is an awesome professor. Doesn't give midterm or final review and says that going to class is your review.. but there are no surprises on the tests. if you go to class and read the book, you will pass. He makes class interesting, he's funny... knows his stuff. He is an AWESOME professor... recommended if u will read & study
He is an Inmigration Attorney. Every time he teachs a class gets very involved with the topic. Sometimes he gets upset because students dont read chapters before attending to class but he is an Excellent teacher. whatever you highlight on the book that comes on the test.
This class is not a joke, but you could pass it if you study his handout, read the cases. I suggest that you outline the cases and study the "handout". Study, study, study and you'll pass.
Mr saiz, your an excellent Professor. I jokingly call him Ponchus pilot because he will wash his hands by giving you whats on the test but their are over 100 questions. So it becomes a question of can you memorize 100 paragraphs? i did & i got an a+..Don't wait 4 the last week to study, make index cards! not afraid to speak his mind & curse.lol
I have never written a review about any professor. Truly cares about his students, excellent memory took his class one semester, knew me by name the next. He tells u exactly what is going to be on the test. He never tries to trick his students. He is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had.
Professor Saiz is very professional, capable, knowledgeable, funny, has always a great story to tell. Yes, FIU can be proud to have him.
His exam are too tricky.
He's a great professor. He expects his students to know the assigned cases for every class. He knows his material and knows to explain it very well and he makes his class interesting. He will give out a handout and basically, all you need to do is read it and know it for his exams. By doing so, you will pass his class.
This professor gives too many hard multiple choice and True and False tests. You need to have an excellent memory to roughly pass this class. Not excited to ever take classes with this teacher!
Great class. You dont have to show up to the class--but I would recommend it. He tells you exactly what you need to know to take the tests. The tests come directly from the textbook--almost word for word. Read the textbook and outline the chapter. Dont wait till the last minute to study. your grade will depend entirely on how much you study.
He is not a bad professor, however he is not the best. Attendance is not mandatory, you just show up and discuss the cases out of the book. A LOT of reading is required. He gives a midterm and a final and not all questions are from the text as he says. Very funny guy , but you must read and study hard if you want to do good in his class.
I've taken Saiz three times. His tests ARE challenging and you do have to study, but he is my favorite professor at FIU by far. Funny guy, knows his stuff, and he's just a great guy to get to know and talk to. One of the few professors I wouldn't mind sharing a beer with.
This professor is a straight up mess, he scratches himself in class and he seems to have too much energy for my liking. He gets off subject and uses profanity and thinks it's funny.
This guy is super funny ... he picks his nose and scratch his .... in front of the class. He knos his stuff ... attendance is not mandatory .. if you study what he says its important you have more opportunities to pass , because his test are hard...
His 2 exams are very challenging since they are 100 True/False questions. However he is a good professor and i do not recommend anyone else to teach this class but Saiz. He is funny and makes the class interesting. You also need to present a case, my suggestion: do it at the beginning of the class so you get it out of the way.
criminal procedure is not an easy class, however he makes it interesting, very straightforward and cool, test are hard but if you participate and get involve in the class he;ll give you a hand overall good!
He's an awesome professor and makes class interesting. I'm looking foward to taking another class with him. 2 exams (100 multiple choice ?s; non-cummulative) and a 3-5 page paper for extra credit on any case you want (0-3 pts).
This professor is hilarious, i took him at 8am on a friday and he was full of energy, ive heard from other students that he gets even more energetic as the day goes on. READ THE BOOK MAKE SURE YOU HIGHLIGHT WHAT HE READS, 100 QUESTION TEST IS STRICLY FROM THE BOOK. Attendance is not mandatory BUT GO TO CLASS GET THE HIGHLIGHTS. No term paper.
Ok if you want to spend 2 hours in class with a prof that walks around touching his "you know what" and is constantly picking his nose...take this class!! Take The Courts with this guy, however DO NOT take Just&Const and Criminal Procedures!
One of the best professors I have had. He is very passionate about Constitutional rights. He is full of energy and hilarious. His tests are VERY specific but if you STUDY for them you will be fine...in class he always tells you when something will be on the test! He encourages participation; will say hi to you outside of class if you participate
Great professor to take a class with. Very clear and straightforward. Very funny. Will keep you entertained by telling stories in class that are directly related to the material. Tells you exactly what will be on the test. Take your book and highlighter to class, study, and i mean study for real, and you should pass the class.
he is very hard to pass...he does 10 cases every week and only has a midterm and a final...if u pass his midterm with a F or D just drop it...there is no way u will pass his final but if u have a D on his midterm...just work hard on getting a B...but i highly reccommend to not take him for Justice n Constitution!!!! WARNING!!!!
I made the mistake of taking TWO classes with him in the same semester, CJL 4064 and CJL 3410. If you value your sanity, DO NOT DO THIS. Go to class, highlight -->EVERYTHING<-- he reads from the book, that + the handout will be the entire exam. Read all the cases, study what he dictated in class, should be fine. I'm taking him again next semester.
I've had this Prof for Just/Const and Criminal Law. He is so energetic and funny! His classes have the 100T/F exams, the trick is not to overthink the questions. In one class I overthought the midterm and got a D, I almost died but after class he gave me that advice and I passed the Final with an A+ and the class with B. Never had a prob after that
No surprises, come to class get pay attention and you will do good.
This prof. is very rude the test are 45 questions in 50 min.by the time you answer a question u have to go to the next question or else you basically run out of time. DO NOT TAKE HIM.wait another semester and take someone else hell anyone else would be better than him. mid term and final 45 q's each and weekly discussions only worth 10 points.
I had 3512 and justice and the constitution with Siaz. Love him, best professor, best reviews.
This teacher is also a lawyer he teaches you the right way, yes he may be outgoing and to the point and sometimes brash. However I liked him very much as a teacher he makes you become an independent thinker and teaches you to really question and interpret his ideas and class lectures.
Textbook is a must... he basically tells you what to high light in class for the test; He barely lectures! He reads off the book telling you to highlight this paragraph here n there. Multiple choice test. And one paper if you want extra credit towards the end.
DONOT take this dude. His test are very detailed and hard. He wants to make sure you fail.
Took this class online. He is very rude in repsonding to a simple question through email. His tests are very detailed, but everything can be found in the textbook. The 8page paper was too much to only be worth 10points. Can't mess up on either test or your grade goes down dramatically.
Very easy as long as you go to class. Just highlight everything he says and you'll pass the tests no problem.
Very easy class if you understand court cases. If not definitely go to class and ask questions. He is a very good teacher I would recommend taking the class with him if you really want to learn.
Tough class, but he tells it like it is. Real college course -- You have to learn and read on your own, if not you are screwed! But he is good at telling you what to focus on for the exams -- if you don't read and re read the cases you will not pass. class not madatory but if you don't attend, you will fail.
Tough professor, its a real college cours but if you attend class, jot down what he tells you to write and learn his handouts you should do great on the tests. The tests are true or false, class is not mandatory I went to about half of them and got a B on the first exam and an A on the second. If you understand the handouts you'll do fine.
THE COURTS. You NEED the book, whatever he tells you to highlight IS on the test. Two test 100 questions each - he gives you extra credit that is added onto your final score. Class isn't boring and you do not stay the whole time. Just make sure you highlight EVERYTHING he tells you too ( its alot ) and STUDY IT
Boring subject but decent professor. Read and rewrite everything you highlight in the textbooks!! Make sure you remember %'s and #'s if given. He is a more than fair grader and will give participation points. 4 classes with him and all good! Recommended.
Toom him for the courts during summer A. 2 exams, 100 questions. You can do a essay that will add 3 points to your overall grade. Go to class and highlight whatever he reads from the book. Remember the numbers and case names. The questions on the test are in the order of what he highlighted in the book so that's a plus.Study and you will do fine.
Great professor, he teaches straight from the book, I recommend that you highlight and only study what he says. He's funny too.
I took him 3 times, he is a great professor and tries to teach his class like law school. If you can't pass his class then don't bother going to law school. You got to understand the cases and keep up with them. Its only 10 cases a week. In law school its 30 a week. The exam is MC and you should study if you want to pass.
AWESOME professor. He explains more than he probably is expected to. You need the textbook. Brief all the cases and PARTICIPATE in class (hint, hint). Use the handouts he gives you. Don't take this class if you expect easy A. You have to do the work. He makes the class interesting & will answer your questions.
Prof. Saiz, is a great teacher! This is the first time I take him but will be re-taking him. He´s very knowledgable in his field and gives real life examples for better comprehension. He makes the class worthwile with his personality. I highly recommend taking him! Attend class, review his handouts and you should be able to pass without no prob!
I have taken this professor for all the classes under criminal justice. He's fantastic! The classes just require you to have your book, understand what he reads on the class day, and just memorize that for the exams. That's all to it. It's really up to you whether it's easy or not so easy, but it isn't difficult and he can be quite amusing.
Wealth of Knowledge! Teaches straight from the book and what he teaches would be on the exam. Very HELPFUll and RESOURCEFULL professor. Creates a positive and educational learning class room setting. A MOST TAKE! All FIU course should be taught by him.
This is by far the best professor I have ever taken at FIU. I took three classes with him this semester and received an A in all of them. He's extremely helpful and keeps everyone very interested in the material. Although the material is hard, he makes learning enjoyable and easy to understand. If I could take another class with him, I would!
prof saiz is super good!! he teaches straight from the book what ever he tells ut will forsure be on the test. read the book and make outlines that will be really helpful.
Don't take any classes with him! His exams are extremely difficult & he doesn't teach. I failed his class (by 2 points) b/c his first exam consisted of 50 true & false Qs and 50 multiple choice Qs. All he does is talk about celebrities(he's obsessed with Scarlett Johansson). He's an awful professor. Don't take him, b/c he'll ruin your GPA!
HE is the bomb! Take him... super funny... long class but perfect professor to teach a long class. Very up front and his printouts is exam! study them... I would take him again....
There's a 10 page research paper, weekly DQ's worth only 1 point and two exams. There's no interaction with the professor. It's you and the book that's it. I took it online, which his exams are loaded with typos so you need to re-read the questions a few times to actually understand the question. Study guides were useless for the second exam!!
his a character alright, doesnt mean the class is easy. he gies you 2exams, midterm/final 100qution each 50 t/f 50 multiple , memorize the book and you will pass...no powerpoint ,no notes, highlight what he tells you and memorize it! would i take him again? no!
Probably the best professor I've ever taken at FIU. He makes the class extremely interesting. Prof saiz is very knowledgeable and will explain anything abt any question. I highly recommend him. My only problem is that I wish he taught other classes.
memorization is everything. you're not literally learning the material in this class, just memorizing words. I do not recommend, and i will never take this professor again.
You don't really learn any material in his class. You memorize and hope for the best. He talks more about his beliefs than he does about any material pertaining to the class. Good Luck if you decide to take him.
Very difficult class. Alot of material. One Midterm and one final and 10 percent participation where you present a case brief to class.
Its a difficult class, but if you make notes on the cases and learn his guides, then you are good to go. His conversations are very interesting and can be somewhat of a comic relief.
You have to study! If you don't read every case in the book you will not pass his class. A midterm and a final at 40 points each consisting of 100 T/F questions. He gives you 10 points for briefing a case which is very easy. Overall average professor. He is a comic in class which is a plus since he won't put you to sleep.
took this class last fall. brief all the cases, study the handouts and you should pass. yes its not an easy class, but i wouldn't have taken it with anyone else other than Saiz who is a character himself. 100 question T/F midterm/final and one case brief presentation in class. very passionate teacher, dont hesitate to take any class taught by him!
Read everything in that book whether it might be on the test or not. it's 100 questions. 10 points for some writing. It's better you know something and not be tested on it rather than you know exactly what to study for and miss questions you thought wouldn't be on it. He talks a lot about other things; tangents, and you are on your own. good luck!
Not a bad professor. Very into what he teaches. Tends to go off on a rant or go off topic, but overall he is a great professor with a good background. 2 Exams (Midterm, Final) and 1 assigned case which you present to the class.
Overall, he's a pretty good teacher. He grades fair and respond quick to emails
Just 3 words: Read the book. Read and memorize every detail, especially cases towards the end of the class, for the final. He's an excellent teacher, but you need to read the book, otherwise you'll fail in no time.
Worst teacher I've ever taken. I'm normally an A student. Doesn't interact with students, the one time I emailed him he was very rude, assigns a ridiculous paper for what it's worth, and his study guides are useless. Only one question on it was on the final exam. Take someone else if you can.
He's okay. His class structure is basic. Tells you exactly what will be on the test. The worst part about him is his tangents.... he goes on and on about his personal life, political opinion and beliefs. I cant stand it.
DO NOT PLAGARIZE ON TERM PAPER. I did not correctly quote the information and received a "0"! Other than that I would have done great.
Prof Saiz is one of the funniest professors I've had. You ABSOLUTELY need the textbook cause that's were all the questions on the test come out of. He doesn't go over the whole chapter, he just tells you what you need to know and that whats going to be on the test. You only have 2 test and one article(of your choosing) that you need to summarize.
ON-LINE STUDENT be prepared to get zero interaction with the professor. The textbook is essential and you will have to read from cover to cover. Exams are set up to give the better answer and you MUST know cases referenced in the book. Hundreds of them, hard to know them all, but will be on exams.
Overall not a good professor at all. His class consists of a midterm and a final exam exam worth 45% each and 10% participation. Reading the book is essential to passing this class. During class you will need the book since he will tell you exactly what to highlight to prepare you for the exam. At times it feels like he doesn't know the material.
Got an A in his class but barely. Really had to try my hardest and earn it. He definitely knows the law and is in love with what he does
Straight to the point, passionate about law, hes an immigration attorney but knows law from the back of his palm. Attendance is not mandatory but the BOOK is. Everything he tells you to highlight, will be on the test VERBATOM!! At the end, gives 3 points to boost up your grade and well hes literally, overall good! U do have to study to do good!
This class was not too hard. There are just 2 exams, discussion boards due every sunday. Tests are not proctored. 10 Page Policy Paper due a few weeks before end of classes. It was not too hard.
A midterm and a final ONLY. Weekly discussions just to slide the course and pretend he is doing something. THIS IS THE WORST COURSE I HAVE EVER TAKEN, TWICE! Be ready to read dry awfully long chapters and the questions on the exams are nowhere to be found in the textbook. Unfortunately, he is the only one who "teaches" this class. SHAME!!!
His requirements and exceptions are very clear and to the point. He outlines everything you need to know for the test chapter by chapter. Teaches straight from the text book. As long as you are willing to read or at least memorize what he tells you to highlight in the text, you will do just fine. Great professor.
Attendance is not mandatory but it is essential for passing! Everything he goes through will be on the exams. Only a midterm, final and article presentation. He will literally tell you everything that will be on the exams. A lot of material to cover and learn. Hard class, but very interesting. Professor Saiz knows his stuff. Will take again!
If you're a college student, you should be able to handle it. Saiz is very very smart and straight to the point. He does not like to waste time, therefore, be there in class and pay attention because it is unlikely that he will repeat himself again. You do not have to go to class but if you don't go, you'll be lost. There is a lot of reading to do
I had this professor and i never ever spoke with him. He assigns one long research paper and discussion posts and 2-3 tests horrible but he is the only one who teaches this class.
His class is very doable as long as you're diligent. The grading scale is frustrating - I ended up with a B+ but the department now only gives regular letter grades, no pluses or minuses. His lecture can get a little comvoluted and long-winded but really he isn't a bad guy and if you study and pay attention, you'll pass with an A or B.
Saiz is great at breaking down complex legal cases and explaining them in 'English.' His lectures are more like interactive discussions with students and are really fun. His tests can be tough IF you did not attend class, read the cases and study. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is thinking about going to law school in the future.
Took this course online and it was great.!One 10 page paper on a topic of your choice due towards the end of the term, weekly discussions (though you don't have to reply to other students) and a midterm and final. He has handouts that walk you through the material that are basically 80% of the tests. Highly recommend taking.
Mr. Saiz is an amazing professor very understanding, be ready to ready and do not miss class. Very funny and knowledgeable about the law. Easy A when you read the cases.
Good professor, but its not an easy course.
HE IS AN EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. YOU NEED TO STUDY REALLY HARD IF YOU WANNA GET A GOOD RATE WITH HIM BUT HE IS AWASOME
Given the amount of content for this class, Professor Saiz does a good job of making it as understandable as possible. If you miss class, you're going to have a hard time on the exams. Take good notes, read the cases and pay attention to what he says, chances are they'll be on the exam. The key to his exams is to read the handouts and study!!!
Midterm, Final, 20 participation points for presenting and turning in a case brief. He lectures straight from the book and tells you exactly what you need to study for. If you do not come prepared to class be ready to hear him, he hates that. He is great in my opinion, not easy. If you are sensitive to criticism, pick someone else. Class is fun.
I took this online class for Fall 2015 and I passed with a B. There are discussions, Exams, and a 10 page research paper. I found all the answers in the book so it is needed.
Took this class online, only Prof available for intro to CCJ. The syllabus was clear; midterm 40% final 40% weekly discussions 10% and ten page paper 10%. Exams are a bit challenging so be prepared to study or create a study guide. Paper topic was your choice anything CJ related. No interactions or feedbacks from Saiz :/ like my other online profs
This class is fairly easy there are ten discussion posts which are extremely easy, and one 10 page paper which seems like a deal breaker but the paper is ten points and you get to choose the topic! There are two tests, all multiple choice but nonetheless they were still difficult. there's a lot of reading to do, but its an easy class!!
You have to work hard for it but the class is awesome he is my favorite professor ever
Saiz really cares about his students & may bump up your grade if you play your cards right (go to class, participate or at least look alive, etc.). Two 100 multiple choice tests that are easy. One 5pg paper on anything CJ related but he even says it's something he's forced to assigned and just wants to make sure you can read and write. TAKE HIM.
This professor curses a lot, tells a lot of outside-related stories, and hates cellphones. Two exams that are 100 multiple choices. His lectures are simply highlighting all the exam material in your textbook. GET THE BOOK. He does not take attendance.
midterm, final, and paper. just gotta make an outline of what he tells you will be on the midterm and final and study from that. pretty easy just need to study for like a week before the tests. could of gotten an A but didnt study hard enough for the midterm.. take him
Saiz knows what he's talking about when he's lecturing, so pay close attention to the things he tells you to highlight bc they WILL BE ON THE EXAM. he's very clear on what you have to do to pass his class. if you're not much of a reader, get ready. there's lots of it but the material isn't hard and he helps you understand. just go to class.
Class seems so easy, but when you get the exam is different. He's very funny and clear. Also, he tells you to highlight on the book exactly what you need to study for the exam.
I took this class online. There is a lot of reading but that is expected when you take an online course. The down side is, he only has 2 exams. So if you happen to be a poor test taker, you might want to study and prepare a little more. Otherwise, he is a good choice.
Pretty easy going standard online course , read and reflect, two major exams and one paper, grade heavily depends on exams, Professor Saiz, is not involved at all , he answers pretty promptly if necessary.
Yes the class is hard... Not a lot of room for improving your grade since there is only two 100 question tests and a 5pg paper and current event. Don't let the 5pg paper discourage you. He assigns it because he needs to so he grades stupid easy on it. tells you everything thats on the test so hi light, study, and you'll pass. saiz is a great guy
Professor Saiz knows his stuff, the class is rigorous though there's only two exams and a case that you have to present to the class. He tells you EXACTLY whats going to be on the exam so pay close attention. Attendance is not mandatory but it does help to go to class because he dictates verbatim whats going to be the exam. Take him!
best professor hands down! BE PREPARED TO READ AND BRIEF CASES! 3 grades, a midterm, final, and 1briefcase that you present which is easy. his tests consists of 100 questions if you study and your in class than YOU WILL KNOW WHAT YOUR STUDYING FOR. if you brief all cases trust me you wont be lost. DO NOT TAKE IF YOUR NOT PREPARED TO STUDY !!!!!!!
nice man
i enjoyed the material , although the means wasn't quite clear
Saiz is one of the funniest and most vocal teachers I have ever had. He really is a cool guy. During class he will read over the chapters in the book and will tell you what to highlight because that is what is going to be on the test.
He is hilarious :) He goes over verbatim what will be on exam, and tells you what to highlight. Attendance is not mandatory, but it doesn't help you to miss class. The class is NOT an easy A per say, but definitely attainable. You will have to study in order to pass this class. He is very knowledgable in his field so pick his brain !
One of the best professors I have come across! He is really funny. You will definitely learn in his class. You will have to study hard for his exams but he tells you exactly what will be on the exam. The book is a need if you want to pass and although attendance isn't mandatory it's REALLY beneficial. It is definitely worth it to take his class!
Textbook is necessary, bring it to class! Attendance not mandatory but he provides info on what will be on the exam for each case that is gone over. Take notes! Midterm, Final and 1 case brief to turn in for a participation grade. Exams are 100 questions, true and false (midterm had a few multiple choice)
professor siaz is a fairly nice guy although , the tests surprise you
nice guy he's funny too . thats all ...
nice guy he's funny too
nice man but i did not retain much
great professor, hes an attorney and is very knowledgeable. Class isnt too hard, you have to be actually show up if you want to pass. Case briefs every class, test weren't too bad just study the review he gives. Interesting and cool class, i worked hard for a B+
I wouldn't take this class if you want a chill class and little work. You need the text book. You literally to 10-15 cases per week and demanded to know them all with the handouts he gives us. He does not care for the attendance or your presence. Once you're in, You only get two tests that measure your end of semester grades.
Mr. Saiz is everything you would want in a professor. He's hilarious, although he sometimes goes off an a tangent for waaaay too long, but he uses his comedy to teach and it helps. He tells you legit EVERYTHING that will be on the exam so even though final/exam is worth 80%, he spoon feeds it. He's a little crazy but in the best way
I took the class online and had little interaction with Professor Saiz. However, based on the interaction I did have with him, he seemed to really care. Professor Saiz was also very responsive and answered your questions to the best of his ability.
Saiz is an attorney with a lot of experience. He gives amazing lectures and explains cases very well. He does not play around and will call you out in front of the class if you do something you shouldnt be doing. Hes very caring to those who he sees come to class each week and will meet to help and go over material. READ ever single case!!!
Professor Saiz is amazing. If you want to go to law school take his class, he will definitely prepare you. His lectures are interesting and funny so you wont mind going to class. He is very blunt so you cant have soft skin when asking him questions. His class is far from easy. You will definitely have to work for your grade. But its worth it!
Professor Saiz is a great professor, everything he says will be on the exam WILL be on the exam. He's very straightforward and is not afraid to give his honest opinion. This is not a class that you can just take for an easy A. His handouts are everything! Midterm and final plus the 2 cases assigned.
Professor Saiz is an easy professor for this class online. A discussion post and 2 peer replies. An easy paper with whatever topic you want (has to be related to criminal justice) Tests are lockdown browser, just use another laptop or tablet. Rent the book online, its much easier. If any problems e-mail the professor, usually replies in 24 hours.
my first C+ ever. he WOULD NOT round my 79 up. 8 case briefings before every class are due. you need to present 2 cases and they are graded. he is very tough and isn't afraid to call you out on bad briefs. hes hard to please. exams are tough.
Hes an amazing professor, he tells you things straight foward like it is and tells you EVERYTHING you need to study for a test. If you study youll be fine. He does not take attendance but its important to not miss class. Only one midterm, final, and 2 case briefs. He seems tough in the beginning but you work your way around the class.
By far one of my favorite professors at FIU. He seems to be so passionate about what he does and makes the material so interesting. Not to mention how incredibly funny he is. This class is so easy to pass because he basically gives everything to you. If you fail, thats on you honestly. Highly recommend! Im taking him again next semester haha.
If you do your assignments, you'll most likely get an A. Everything you need, even the exam questions, can be found in the textbook. If you email him with any concern, he answers quickly.
I took him for the court system and criminal law online. He was pretty easy, 10 discussion questions, one midterm and one final. I took him in class for justice and constitution.. he talks a lot, but you don't need to go to class to pass, just have the book to read. In this class all you need is two case briefs, a midterm ad a final.
Final Grade is determined by mideterm and final. Great class to take if you want to go to law school. Theres 10 cases for homework every week. Lots of reading. My first C.
Saiz is great, his ratings don't do him justice because he really isn't that bad. As long as you read the 10 cases a week and study for the mid term and final you're good. Take the studying seriously you will do poorly on the exams if you don't study. He tells stories and sometimes goes off on a tangent but he's funny. Overall I enjoyed his class.
Also even though he doesn't take attendance you NEED to attend EVERY class because he gives dictations when he goes over the cases and the dictations will be on the exams. You will need to bring the book every class because that's where the dictations are going to come from.
You have to do two briefs and present them in class and read the 10 weekly cases, and there's a mid term and final. The dictations that he gives in class are the study guide and he will not give a separate one so you must attend class and write everything he dictates. You can use a computer but DO NOT use your phone he hates that.
Doesn't take attendance but SHOW UP TO EVERY CLASS AND TAKE NOTES, what he says in class WILL BE ON THE EXAM. Study the dictations, handouts, and you will do well. 3 case briefs that count as participation. Purely memorization. Midterm + final, STUDY FOR THESE. Not hard to get a good grade, but study. Book IS needed. A is attainable.
10 discussion posts (respond to 2 posts), midterm, final, 8 pg paper. Discussions are due at the end of the semester but don't leave for last minute. Free pdf of the book can be found online. Easy A. Gives reviews for exams. Quickly responds to emails but don't expect a detailed answer. Follow the syllabus and you should do well. Study and pass!
10 easy discussion posts + 2 replies, 8-10 page paper (you pick the topic), and 2 exams (gives study guides). Class is basically taught yourself. Provides outlines of the chapter. The paper is probably the hardest assignment. He takes a while to grade but you'll know your grade in the class with enough time. Vague email responses. Would take again
Easy class. He likes weekly classwork to be hand written and turned in physically. There arent any due dates for the assignment they just have to be turned in by the end of the course. Hes very personable and honest. Attendance isnt mandatory but he reviews the stuff that will be on the tests so I would show up. Only tests are final and midterm
I recommend Professor Saiz. He is very understanding and easy going. His class is not difficult at all as long as you actually read and go over the lectures that he provides. He is kind of old school so his assignments are hand written. He doesn't really use much technology unless need be. Overall he's a great professor.
Easy A. 10 discussions and two replies each, due at the end of the semester, I did them all in a day. 2 exams, answers are in the practice tests. The group chat for this class helped a lot, we made a doc with everyone's practice questions. 8-page Policy paper you can do on many different topics Prof replies to emails promptly but is very vague
Half of the semester was remote and it was a disaster. He doesnt do zoom lectures which made the class difficult because his explanations are vital to success in the course. Instead posts class lectures on canvas which are okay but dont compare to his lectures... if this class is NOT in person (and is remote) DO NOT take! Awesome professor though
Very easy A. 10 discussions and two replies each, due at the end of the semester, I did them all in a week. 2 exams, study from the practice quizzes. 8-page Policy paper you can do on many different topics and not even worth so many points so you can get away with not doing it!
This is the worse online professor I have ever taken. He barely responded to emails and when he did, he did not answer your question. I will say that it is wayyyy easy to pass his class but why should I have to pay tuition plus $90 fee for an online class where I literally teach myself everything? So not worth it, sorry. Won't take his class again.
Professor Saiz is probably one of my favorite law professors at FIU! I took this class remotely via zoom and it was very easy as long as you paid attention. The course consisted of four case briefs which you present in class for a grade, a midterm and a final. Book is absolutely necessary. Loved this prof and hoping to take another class of his.
Very detailed, you must study to pass
Very difficult course, but he gives you his all so you can pass and understand the material, if you fail its because of lack of studying, he provides you with a lot of study material to help you with the exams.
If you're not a good test taker, do not take this class. While there are weekly assignments, the midterm and final are 80% of your grade, and are comprised of 100 tedious questions. As a teacher, he's okay, he just reads from the textbook, nothing too exciting. As long as you put in the effort, it should be an easy A.
He's just too much. He is a nice person, but taking him for this particular class, remotely was a huge mistake. The only problem is that I had no other choice. Most of the students failed cause of his 100 questions/100 minutes exams. The wording was horrible and I think it was on purpose to make us lose more time in the exams. Not taking him again!
10 discussion posts, 2 exams, 1 paper. Exams are the bulk of your grade, but quizlet is your best friend. Book is a PDF available online. Pretty sure he just grades off completion
Easy class as long as you read and do the discussions. His mid-term and finals are 100 questions, multiple choice & true/false. There is a 10 page paper due towards the end of term. His exams can be tricky so make sure you really read and know your stuff.
he's a nice guy and very knowledgeable on the subject but the wording on the exams (2, lockdown) is a little tricky and can really mess you up. The exams are 100 questions. The only other grade you get aside from the two exams are 4 case briefs which as long as you submit something decent he'll give you full credit all 4 times. No extra credit.
10 discussion posts, 2 exams, 1 paper (8 pages) but pretty sure it's graded on completion. Pass the exams and you're good all on Quizlet. Book can be found online on PDF. Assignments open all semester so you do it at your own pace. Easy A.
10 discussions, 2 exams with practice exams, and one 8-10 page paper. I suggest starting at the beginning of the semester on the paper. This class is an easy A if you do all the work how he wants it. His grading is questionable though. All the material comes from the book and you don't need to buy it; you can find it online for free. Easy class.
This teacher is very understanding, he made all the discussions due at the end of the semester, and it seems he graded them upon completion. There was a midterm and final all multiple-choice questions which he puts up practice exams for a few days prior. This class is a guaranteed A if you do all the assignments.
The Discussions and 8-10 page paper are easy but combined they're only worth about 20% of your grade. The other 80% of the grade comes from the two exams, which are 100 questions and webcam monitored. He doesnt have any live lectures but he does provide notes. You don't have to read much but you still have to study for the exams.
10 discussions - Super easy. 10% of your grade 1 final paper (8-10 pages long) - 10% of your grade Test 1 and Test 2 - 40% EACH. 100 questions EACH. Easy questions, but it affects your grade.
Took two exams, each 100 questions. The policy paper was 10 pages which he gave a lot of time to complete. Then theres ten assignment questions (which are like discussions) which are only worth ten points. there are four main grades so if you do bad on one assignment, your grade is f-ed.
The only issue I had was the grading because 2 exams are graded on a heavy scale compared to the 10-paged paper and discussion assignments. If you don't study for those exams, you won't pass the class. I love him tho because he actually teaches things from his experience as a lawyer which is useful. Attendance is not mandatory at all.
Not very understanding and the least interesting class that I have ever taken. It is so boring that only a few students actually show up to class. The lectures are long and boring.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is rude and interrupts students when they speak. His tests aredifficult and his lectures and boring. I have learned absolutely nothing in this class. The way his tests are written makes no sense. I am a well-above average student and this class is destroying my GPA. Everyone should report him to faculty
An older version of the required book can be found for free online and works just as well. 10 discussions worth 1pt each, 1 paper (8-10pgs, 10-15 references) worth 10 pts, midterm and final worth 100pts each. i.e., pass the final & midterm and you can literally choose to not do anything else and take a 0 and pass. T or F exams 100 questions each.
Grade based on midterm & final (honorlock, 100 true or false questions). Textbook needed... You NEED to study or you will not pass. Offers like 5% for participation which came in clutch. Will help you out if you show up and participate. Maybe not the best teacher for this course but a decent option. I would probably take him again.
Saiz reached out once during the entire Spring semester. He has 10 assignments totaling 10% of your grade, for which he never gives feedback. There is an 8-10 page paper that is another 10% of your grade, for which there are hardly any instructions and a midterm and final on honor lock worth 40% each.
Professor Saiz wasn't a bad professor but his teaching style was not very engaging. He just reads straight off from the book, but does explain things for time to time. Homework was not a big deal and fairly easy. BUT, the exams was a huge issue. The exams wording was confusing and can be tricky. Overall, he's nice but can mess up your GPA.
2 proctored exams - 100 questions each - 80% of grade. policy paper - 10% and discussions 10%. Opened discussions to complete by end of course. Not a bad class but exams are weighted too heavy.
Essentially you would need to read and brief 9-12 cases ever week. His finals and midterms are 100 questions to complete in 90 minutes. Exams are 40% of your grade each. 2)% is from briefing and presenting about 4 or 5 cases in class. This was my first B in FIU after 2 years and now I will not graduate with a 4.0 GPA. He is not bad but not the best
Professor Saiz's class has a heavy exam focus, but with a little effort and unstuck ai for exam prep, you can ace it. The discussions and paper are straightforward. Definitely take this class if you want an easy A!
There are two exams with 100 questions, each worth 40% of your grade, one 8-page essay worth 10%, and ten smaller assignments that add up to 10%. I would never take another course where two exams determine my grade for a semester of work.
This professor is amazing , will definetely take him again for another class, his discussions are straighfoward and only two test throughout the semester , along with a policy paper 10/10
i recommend you go to his lectures because he will say what things will be on the exams. take notes and do flashcards and you'll be fine for the final. he's funny and makes the class really interesting.
he doesn't genuinely teach you anything, he reads off the textbook and gets frustrated with you when you dont understand him. dont take this prof unless you HAVE to. youre better off reading everything at your own pace instead of wasting your time watching him read it to you in class.
The fact that two test equal 80% of your overall grade is insane to me and 10% of your grade is an 8 page paper. However, the paper is very doable and the prompt is of your choosing. The tests are honorlock, but he provides 20 free questions from the test itself. The questions are easy and kinda common sense. I HIGHLY suggest joining the GCs
No point in attending class because all he does is read straight from the textbook, no supplementary material. The few times I went to class to ask him questions, he was very condescending & did not address my concerns. Tests are T/F and impossible to study for. He spelled arraignment as "arrangement" on the final, multiple times. Do not take.
If you're not on a law-school track, be prepared to feel completely out of place. The professor constantly talks about law school and uses that as justification for being harsh and condescending. When you ask questions, he responds rudely/dismissively and doesn't address your concerns. The tests are extremely confusing, unchanged for years (5+).
Professor Saiz was a pretty good professor, who grades his online course based solely on a few assignments, one essay, and two exams that are fairly difficult. Overall, if you pace yourself well this class should not be too difficult, but it will definitely take effort. Honestly just join the group chat and you will be fine, and smooth sailing.
