HORRIBLE
Very HARD!!! Makes you work alot. Suggest that you try to avoid taking him as much as possible. Expects alot from all the students and is very STRICT ABOUT ATTENDANCE AND COMING LATE. WATCH OUT!!!
Two words: he sucks!!!! Never, ever, ever take him or you'll be making a HUGE mistake. I took him because I didn't know any better. If I would've known what type of professor he is, I would have NEVER taken him. Out of all the classes I've taken, that has been the only one I have agonized through. T
hE MAKE AN EASY CLASS HARD FOR NOTHING. HE GRADES VERY HARD.
This professor can be tough but if you come to class, seem interested, and participate he will be helpful. If you do you end of semester project EASY A but you also need to do many many speeches in front of the class... Not so bad he can be funny at times..

I took his class over at BCC South Campus. BIG mistake. Not only is he a perfectionist but he always makes you feel inferior to him. He seems as if he is the only person who knows right from wrong. Although there were no tests, the speeches alone were difficult and he made you feel nervous. I ended up dropping this class. BEWARE!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, He gave me one of the only two Cs I have, He measures papers with a ruler!!!literally, He made me stress over this class so much...not even algebra caused me so much stress,Unless you like to write a LOT of essays OVER and OVER,DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY BEWARE!!!
Requires you to dress to his liking (no sandals, business attire) and grades you according to his perogative. You do not know where you stand in the class until you get your grades. Lowers your grades according to abscences and tardy's. Condescending, pompous, but mostly unfair. Makes an easy class a nightmare - requires too much. Not recommended.
He does not make you feel inferior to him.HE IS A PERFECTIONIST but it helps you get things done right. He doesn't think he's the only one who knows right from wrong. The speeches help you. A lot of work.He is ridiculously piky with papers (3 pg ea. gordon rule & two 6-8 min speech outline) I learned a lot.Just take it alone or with an easy class.
He gave the coure packet after 2 weeks of school starting. When you ask a wuestion he says,"Go to the course packet." The course packet doesn't have some of the assignments he askes for. He forgets everything he has said from the previous class. He wants 4 icebreakers, 1 informative & 1 persuasive speech, and 3 gordon rule papers. many group projec
He gives a lot of work and most of the work is towards the end of the course.
lets just put it this way:I have all A's an he is my only C. IF YOU LOVE TYPYNG AND RIDICULOUS ASIGNMENTS NOT RELEVANT TO SPEECH CLASS, AND IF U R INTO CHINESE TORTURE TAKE THIS GUY.
if you dont wanna learn and dont wanna work dont take him. but if you do i guarantee you'll complete his course with a sence of fulfilment one word A-C-A-D-E-M-I-A!!!
WORST TEACHER EVER. the grades that he gives do not reflect the students's performance at all. His grading system is not fair. He does not teach or help the students, he unfairly judges them. He enjoys seeing students fail. He should not be teaching, should change his career to interior design or cosmetology... not even...
even though he is cool & a funny guy he makes this class very difficult, not in tests (never had any) but in the amount of projects and stuff, either way he was good because he is preparing you for the real world & to university level type stuff, if you like speaking in front of people and dont mind doing a lot of projects than pick him
My only C while I was at MDC. He totally sux, he critizes students clothes n stuff, and he does not even shave, he looks dirty and messy, should be the last one to tell us what or not to wear
well, he is a difficult grader. i am an "A" student but i got a "B" in his class. he's relentless and you always have to dress up on speech days.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!! BE WARNED!
Santelises makes Speech harder than it should be. Most people take Speech as an elective, he makes it seem like your taking nuclear physics at Harvard. He gives to many projects, is strict in the grading, He does explain himself clearly, but then contradicts himself in his grading formula. Dont know anyone who got an "A" in that class.
He is very clear about everything and tells you how you should go dressed the day of your speech. you must reading the text because he gives pop quizes.. i did every the way he explained and i got an A and know others who got an A too.. you just have to work hard in this class.. i was also taking mac and enc during this term
He makes the class too hard for students. You are loaded w/ projects one after another. It's overwhelmed. If a first time student has him on his first day, he will drop off college. I had to drop his class even though that was my last class to graduate. I rather wait for another semester to re-register w/ antoher professor. He is too demanding.
Prof santelisses was not that bad. I took him in the summer for 6 weeks and passed with a B. Do all the work and you will be fine. Yes! he is very demanding and gives alot of work but he you will gain something out of his assignments. He is very organized. Great piece of advice take him in the summer and get it over with.
ATTENTION EVERYONE: He is one of the most incredible professors I have every met! He is a sweet heart, and a person who is knowledgable about his subject. However, he is quite challenging. You have to listen to him and following his exact directions or you will be lost and not get a good grade. He is gorgeous and super sexy!I love you professor!;)
I do not who wrote the others comments. belive me, he is the worst professor that I meet in my life. he give a personal handbook to develop during the semester. It really seems like writing class,or fashion class. we have to dress and comb or brush our hair like he wants otherwise we lose points. Do not take THIS CLASS EVER WITH HIM..
Great professor!! His assingments may be a little hard and you should always start working on it early, don't wait until the last minute. He is very nice and wants you to learn and participate. His lectures are always interesting and will help you in your daily lives. It is a speech class so please be ready to "speak" and "listen" in class!
This guy was the worst professor I've had in all my years of college. I wish I would have looked up the reviews for him here before I registered. His assignments are nothing short of ridiculous and honestly do not assist you much with Speech. If you're stockings are too dark/light you get an F. Skirt too short? F. Too big? F. Total looser.
DONT MAKE THIS MISTAKE LIKE I DID THIS GUY WILL MESS UP YOUR GPA...
Very nice, funny and sweet. Yes,he is demanding, but for a good reason. He makes the class interesting and fun.You just have to follow his rules and do the work. He is not the monster people say he is.
Excellent professor! He is demanding because he cares about his students. He is funny, and makes the class interesting. You learn a lot in his class. If you want to become a better person take him.
He is a Mr. Bean wanna be but he's not funny at all. He gives too much work that is impossible to complete.
Smug, cruel, insensitive! He does not encourage learning or participation unless it's an assignment that requires it.All questions are answered by 'refer to your course packet/syllabus.'He replies to emails days later, and you'll wonder if he even read your emails by his synical and unrelated response.Only addresses questions during his office hrs.
Take another professor for spc1026.I passed with a B.I did not like this class because his methods are to out there for me.If u take him, just do everything the way tells u.U will be on your own as he will tell u the 1st day.if u r lucky u will get the course packed & calendar on day 1.He is not as funny as he thinks. There is a method to his madness
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO MAKE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE DO NOT TAKE HIM. READ ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT HIM THAT ARE ON THIS WEB SITE, BECAUSE THEY ARE A PICTURE OF HIM. AS STUDENTS WE HAVE TO HELP EACH OTHER, SO FOLLOW MY ADVICE.
This guy cant be right in the head. He is too demanding and never satisfied with your work. Its like if his mission is to see you drop the class.Expect to spend alot of money in clothes if you take his class.
this is honestly all dressing up and speaking. i think he means well. i got a C my only grade lower than an A. that was the hardest earned C of my life! i worked so hard! if u do take him.. do NOT give up!! there would be nothing worse than to take it AGAIN!
He was funny teacher. Yeah, he teaching method is rather unusual, he is a great teacher. READ HIS COURSE PACKET AND SYLLABUS AND YOU WILL BE FINE!!!!! oh and DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. try ur hardest and he WILL notice.
The prof. himself is great! He's hilarious and knows alot about speech as you can tell by the way he speaks. The problem here is that his grading system is ridiculous, i feel like im at Harvard instead of MDC. He's too strict and although he wants us to succeed..no matter how hard you try, it doesnt matter..odds are you will get a bad grade
this professor is what u call the type of teacher who are teaching just for their paycheck. he don't care about his students, he doesn't care about helping the students to be better in class and his words are not accurate. i really think miami dade need to check their professors because he have a grading system that ridiculous and what really get
This is by far the worst professor in Miami-Dade!Yes, he pushes us to our limits. The Gordon Rule papers sucks! If your not William Shakespeare you will not pass!!Oh yeah, cant use pro..nouns! I think he's ridiculous. Must have been picked on when he has a kid. Before I forget he's a DIVA!Surpasses Beyonce!
He is aight, despite what everyone on here has to say about him...As long as you do his assignments and attend class you will be fine !...Everyone who says bad stuff about him probably were just lazy !...He is really an Ok professor, funny too...I really enjoyed his class
He is a good professor, just takes some getting used too. He is very sarcastic, but funny. Some students just do not understand his style. I liked his class. I learned a lot.
This class is not hard if you can follow directions and are responsible. He is very funny.O and by the way the Gordon Rule papers determine whether you will pass the class or not, do not take them lightly. He grades the gordon rule papers harshly, so make sure to write great papers!
Mr. Santelises is a horrible professor. He dosent give you the grades you deserve, and i'm not a lazy student. Instead of encouraging his students he tears them apart in from of everyone. Everyone who has wrote a negative comment about him hit the nail directly on the had. I wouldn't take another class with him if my life depended on it.
He SUX!! I never met a person who does not take pride in teaching. He expects you to learn off a SHEET of paper.. The course packet and syllabus is your teacher if you dont read it well u will fail.. but the funny the thing is once you understand the course packet and are doing your assignments HE UPDATES THE PACKET. DONT TAKE HIM

ok, he's confusing, he expects you to do everything on the course packet, doesn't tell you how you are doing throughout the semester so if you want to do better you don't even know how you are doing in the coursde, multiple projects, but he grades mostly from the gordon rule papers, i liked him, but not the way he teaches...
HE IS HORRIBLE, CONFUSING AND SYNICAL. He is happy to fail his students. He always sends you to the syllabus instead of answering your question. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
CRAZY ABOUT HIS SYLLABUS AND IF YOU DON'T READ YOU WILL FAIL. EXPECT TO DO TON OF WORK.EXTREMELY FUNNY GUY
This class is hard. There is no way to pass it. The class is taught through the syllabus. He does't even bother to teach.
Extremely stressful course. I managed to pull an A in that class due to my ability to write a complete sentence. He does not give you his expectations for the Gordon Rule Assignments, he is a ANAL grader, and frankly, I've never stressed so much in any class of my college life. He's funny as hell, but each class I died a little inside.
GREAT GUY. Very Funny!! But every one is right on this review on him. RUN. RUN. RUN. dont look back!!!!
With Professor Santelises, you will learn in this class. This class will stress you out, but once you learn his style you will be okay. You MUST read his 20 plus page syllabus or you won't last in the class.. Very sacractis professor, but you will learn. If you don't wanna work hard don't take him.
PLEASE DEAN GET RID OF HIM HE IS A CANCER TO THE PROGRAM AND TO EDUCATION PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK WHERE IN THE WORLD HE RECEIVED HIS DEGREE BECAUSE I DONT BELIEVE THAT HE HAS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hes not a very good professor. Well when starting off he supposed to have made it clear that"This isn't about this about YOU!"Syllabus was too damn long and we didn't do much of the work in it. He never EVER had time to discuss your grade. Hes a horrible professor. How is he still working? Not a good class to be in too stressful for a speech class!
This professor is a great guy.If you decide to take this class you will learn alot from him, but you will not pass.He is ALWAYS,ALWAYS ALWAYS updates the class schedule. Everything you do in his class is not explained you must figure it out all by yourself by reading the book and the syllabus.Everything you do is never good enough!
unless you like wearing a suit everyday to class and like writing essays avoid this guy. He gives absolutely no help as to what he wants to be done and this whole syllabus thing is the worst part because all he says is "what does the syllabus say" and half the time its not on syllabus. case in point AVOID!
Best teacher I ever had. All the dumbasses hated him.
Nice guy, not a jerk by any means, but he really doesn't answer questions or teach at all. We had a different project due ever class with nothing to rely on but our Syllabus which is over 50 pages long. He grades pretty strict too, Over all I would stay away if I was you but if you end up getting him you can deal with it.
Professor Santelices is a very caring teacher. He could be a bit excentric but a lot of fun! I enjoyed going to class even though it was late night. He cares about his students. To pass his class you do have to show up and do all your work - that is not asking for more than what is already your responsibility.
Overall, he is helpful. Only problem is that you ahve to attend class mostly every single time if not your grade will drop TREMENDOUSLY, so attendance is very important in that class. He expects you to do very well, but it's very very hard to pass this class with an A. I do not recommend, but you decide for yourself.
I took this professor not to long ago, & in my opinion, this is the best professor to take if you want to master speaking in class, public, or any place of that matter. He works with every student diligently & cares a lot about his students. The key to his class is listen to his advice & follow it, apply it in class as if it is real life. I got an
This professor is very bad. he does not answer any of your questions, instead he sends you to the syllabus, which is 50 pages long. Avoid if you want a good grade and a good education, and maintain your good GPA. never wants to answer you question but he loves to talk about sex.
I cant say he is bad professor because I would be lying, but he really doesnt care about stuents. You never know what to expect on the grading scale. I have never worked so hard to get an A and finish with a low grade. He is really strict and will look evry single detail! Do not recomend him. I had a very good GPA until I took him
You will learn because you will work hard. Don't take too many classes with his class. He's not helpful, does not reply to your emails and it's very hard grading. He'll take you point off for everything during presentations.
He is horrible! he is super weird may i add. his grade scale sucks and he doesnt care if you pass or not he doesnt help you out either! he also loves to talk about thing that have nothing to do with the class and he doesnt explain the projects which are worth so many grades! horrible!
I took this professor in Summer A. He was an excellent professor. If you expect to get through without putting effort into your speeches or Gordon rule papers, you will not pass. It seems many people here that had a problem with him expected to do nothing and pass. Never expect that. You will have fun in the class if you work hard and pay attention
This class was excellent and the professor was great. the only thing i can say about the professor is he is very serious when it comes down to appearance ( which is pretty weird ) and linguistic fillers. other than that if yu apply yourself you will pass this class. I dont know what is wrong with students at miami dade, they expect every class to b
The class itself is not hard but he is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to please. He is a very harsh grader, and very picky. He is great in class, he's just very tough with grading. I'm normally an A student. I worked my butt off and still only got a B.
He made life a living hell! While most people will give bad ratings out of rage, i tell you with complete honesty. Avoid this guy at all costs! He will destroy your GPA and make your life miserable. He doesn't explain assignments or tell you what you've done wrong, just grade you extremely harshly. He destroyed a 4.0 GPA with a C for me. AVOID HIM
The professor's assignments are not at all difficult, but his grading style is hard to comprehend. When you think you're doing well you're probably not. He is helpful only during his office hours, just make the time to go see him for him. If I had to take the class again, would I..sure. He also make the class interesting and doesn't just lectures.
Really awesome professor. I received a B. Just be sure to read your syllabus and make time to see him during office hours to keep track of your progress. He is also a funny professor. The assignments aren't hard at all just follow his instructions.
This professor is awesome, funny, and serious about teaching. He gives alot of HW and projects so if you are a part time student just take him and 1 other class. He works hard to make sure you learn. If you are looking for an easy A, don't take him. This class is for ppl who're serious about their education and are willing to work for it and learn.
Friendly individual but difficult to work with professionally. Does not elaborate on details, is incredibly unorganized, refuses to debate on any concerns, and expect to lose points on assignments for asinine details he forgot to explain. He omitted an assignment for my entire class because of a requirement HE never mentioned. Avoid at all costs.
It took a little while to get accustomed to him, but he is an excellent professor. His grading scheme tho is a little difficult to decipher. He pays attention to the most minute details and will deduct marks, but he is accessible during office hrs and is easy to talk to. READ THE MATERIAL GIVEN CAREFULLY and often!
Very nice professor however you will never get an A in his class but if you are really good and listen to him you are sure to get a B, go to see him at office hrs he likes that he sees that you take charge of your education. please keep all your test sheets he will need them all to give you your final grade if not you may get a less grade.
Friendly but extremely strict!! wouldn't recommend this class. He's full of surprises and makes you dress with slacks everytime you present. wouldn't recommend him at all
Alright kiddies, playtime is over, you're adults now. Every class that I attended had about a third absent. Many students wrote their speeches before class on the day they were to present! Most never followed directions with regards to how to present the speeches, and if you can read and write then there's no problem with the directions. C'mon ppl.
Horrible!!!!! Don't take. Worst instructor I have ever had.
Confusing, and hypocritical. Doesn't always adhere to his own syllabus which he tells you to check constantly. May ask for proof of group meetings even though he never said to have any at first. Wants students to be professional when he doesn't even reply to e-mails.
Very awful professor. Made my life super difficult. Does not clearly explain assignments and is SUPER strict with grading. He grades every minute detail. He took off points from me for not wearing pantyhose even though i had long pants. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
I wouldn't recommend this professor at all!! He doesn't explains the assignments, although he always take points off for things he didn't specify. He thinks students are lazy, and he spend a lot of time on the computer and you have to wait like 20 minutes in silence because you are not allowed to speak any moment during his class.
Avoid this professor by any mean, he doesn't explain anything, confuse you with a bunch of guidelines and assignments, takes points off, he always making pointless jokes, thinking he's funny, keep you till the very late and sometimes past that, THIS GUY SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING.
Very nice professor but you really need to listen to him to achieve success. Its not about the grade for me, it was helping myself to overcome the fear of speaking in front of people. Speech is one class like math everyone tries to avoid. If you make the affect in class, do the work, and speak with him during office hours. No work, no rewards.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! Even if it's the last kvass available just wait.!! He is a tough grader makes stupid jokes , and you can't ask him to explain anything he's just going to tell you "REFER TO YOUR SYLLABUS" whatever you do avoid him. Don't do it to yourself
He tells you exactly what you need to do in order to get an A in this class from the very 1st day. He is an excellent professor and you will learn A LOT. An A is attainable; however, you MUST follow directions. He is preparing you! Do not expect a grade you did not earn. People complain about him because they are not willing to work for their A.
Santileses is a great professor. Witty, comical and passionate about teaching and really cares that you suceeed. He will emphasize everything that you need to know in the course and prepare you for the future. His assignments do require a lot of forethought and work and you get what you earn. Follow his advice, and do the work and you will pass.
He is passionate about his job, he knows what he is talking about and will make you work for your grade. Expect few speech assignments along with one group speech project and if you have any questions ask. However, everything you learn in his class you will use for future references. Any grade you get YOU EARN!
Professor Santelises is good at what he does. You will learn A LOT and the class requires you to think before speaking as you prepare for your speech. If your are expecting an easy A this is not the class. You will work for it, I got a B which was on me but as long you follow the instructions given you will be fine. There are No tests just speech's
Mr Santelises is a tough prof. If you want an "A" you have to work for it. People that attended my class felt they should be given an "A" without working for it. From my standpoint his intentions are good. I came from FIT and other colleges and breezed through the classes, but this was my first at MDC and I was challenged. I learned a lot thanks!
Had this professor for Summer B, he is hilarious and very kind. It is very difficult to get an A in his class because he is very critical. Make sure to follow his exact directions and do all the work as he says, and you can get an A.
I really enjoyed this class. Great lectures that educate and entertain. Really helped out when ever I had a question , and showed interest in me and in the class. Gained a lot of knowelge that I have applied in real life settings
I had a tough time really comprehending what the professor required on written reports, but I enjoyed the class and use the skills I learned in my personal and professional life.
He expects a lot. And I understand it's college, but at times it felt like he wanted the world from you. He got off topic a lot and picked at the smallest things in your attire. He's also very traditional. Being tardy and/or absent from his class hurts your grade badly so watch your attendance.
You have to work for your grade but he is there to help you with any questions you have. A stickler for details but he gives you all the information you need to pass each assignment. Participation is very important and you will read most of the textbook. Lots of writing and several presentations but you will learn a lot.
He doesn't answer questions in class and would HAVE to go see him during office hours, he does not respond to emails. He does give you details about assignments and does random selection to practice a speech. Professor Santelises does have an interesting personality like Sheldon from Big Bang theory but ALL about sustainability.
He is a great teacher and he truly cares about his students education. He helps students get ready for the real world!
I did not learn anything in this class, waste of time and money. He is very aggressive and strict and is condescending to students. He cares more about obsessing over format than actually teaching students how to communicate. Says he cares about environmental sustainability yet makes us print 2 copies of each draft. Can't say enough bad things.
He does have a unique personality. His mannerisms and dialogue are funny. His assignments can be a bit annoying as he does worry about format but he makes it clear he is trying to prepare you for the real world. Buckle up, kiddies.
This Professor is very TOUGH. i wouldn't take him again. makes the class very confusing very strict with his guideline
Excellent professor. He makes the class interesting, and you actually learn from it.
Professor Santelises is so smart and funny! He might seem hard at first but he really cares about his students. He does give consistent work but they are all easy assignments. He basically spoon feeds you to tell you exactly what he wants so just follow the outlines. His class is not an easy A but it was a joy and I learned a lot!
Very unclear on the way he goes about projects. When you ask him questions he will respond with another question leaving you at square 1. Very focused on sustainability but makes you print out 2 copies of every assignment. Definitely will not take again!
The guy has jokes. He's a little weird, but a tough grader. I highly recommend you skip him. I'm great at public speaking, but that didn't help me in this class. I got the feeling he didn't like me and it showed in my grade. If you have a job make sure you're not late to his class ever, he keeps tabs on your.
He is an excellent teacher, very funny. I don't understand how people fail, but get ready for speeches and presentations! NEED BOOK or you will fail.
His class is not an easy A if you're not willing to learn and expand your horizons. He spoon feeds you the information that is also available in his syllabu, and he is also available during office hours for additional help. He expects his students t to have common sense, and ability to do their part as a student. Over all his class benefited me.
The professor has expectations for his students to fallow directions, and have common sence. The reason why he sets weird rules, and expects work to be done certain way is to prepare his students for real world, and it's cruelty. He will work with you as long as you will show intrested and effort of passing the class. 3
His grading is VERY specific. He will give you an outline to follow and if you don't follow it PIXEL by pixel he will deduct points. He took a point away from me because I changed his dots into diamonds when listing things on Microsoft Word. If you treat him nice during office hours, kiss up to him, and laugh at his jokes he will boost your grade.
Professor Santelises is a great professor. SPC1017 was a class I personally dreaded, being more of a mathematical type of person, communication is not really one of my virtues. Santelises was beyond inspiring despite the fact that he tends to be confusing sometimes. One of the best and most inspiring professors for me yet. His class was something.
Professor Santelises is a very personable and caring professor. We were always laughing in class. On the other hand, he doesn't follow up on assignments. One day he'll mention one assignment, then next week mention it again but changed up. Not sure if this was a test or that he just doesn't take notes on what he lectures on.
This professor was pretty funny and made class a bit fun but his grading is SO STRICT, i don't think anyone in my class passed with an A. Also he always changed up the work and it would get confusing but he was very helpful if you went to his office hours.
I dropped this class on the first day I came in. Listen to the comments below and avoid this professor. He is strict and difficult.
I dropped this class on the first day I came in. Avoid this professor. If your looking for easy F then this is your guy. He is strict and difficult. On the plus side he was funny and inspiring and is very knowledgeable.
I passed his class with an "A". Even for an introvert and a person that's not comfortable with public speaking. He is funny and will work with you on your speeches. Follow directions very carefully and be on time. I found this class to be very useful in my everyday life.
Never gives deadlines. Is unclear on assignments. Trails off on manic stories that make no sense with regard to curriculum. Talks endlessly and is very unclear as to what you're supposed to be doing. Spends most of the time showing videos of shows he likes. Downton Abbey, Britain's got Talent. I can't believe an actual school allows him to teach.
I'll start by saying, I got an A in this class . He's very strict about format, so pay close attention. I recommend seeing him during office hours. He will give you feedback to get you on the right track. If you suffer from stage fright and want to get better at giving presentations take this class! You get out what you put in!
He is fair.. But.. He wants you to success d.. So you have to work
I took this professor in summer B.(6 wks) He was the hardest professor I've had so far, but he really does care for his students. He is not one to take as a joke. He takes into consideration how you act in and out of the classroom. Going to his office hours are quite helpful. Passing with a decent grade requires listening and following directions.
Professor Santelises taught me a great deal. I was able to learn how to properly cite and incorporate sources in a paper. He pushed and challenged me as a student to be better. He promoted punctuality and attendence, which prepares you for the real world. I felt better prepared for the rest of my college experience because of his encouragement.
Okay so I took this class as a high schooler (I'm in dual enrollment) and let me tell you, I've taken AP classes and Honors but this class was just excessive. Ive never had any issue with working for my grade but he took it to another level. It is a course all about sustainability and nothing like your average speech class. I don't recommend it.
Professor Santelises cares for his student to succeed and always gives constructive criticism for you to improve your skills. He thoroughly describes what he requires of his assignments and isn't all lecture heavy. He is one of the greatest professors I've ever had, especially when it came to enhancing my presentation abilities.
I highly recommend Professor Santelises, Juan to any student who wants to succeed . He is not only a great Professor but also an advisor.
Professor Santelises really cares about teaching his students how to use communication skills in the real world. But, he really makes you work for your grade; he's very picky about his assignments so make sure you follow his formats.. Also, turning in assignments is usually non-negotiable, just turn it in on time; no excuses.
PROF sometimes can be odd but he means well. He teaches you how to be successful in the business world, especially with first impression. Body language is graded. It can fail you. He likes for you to be positive at all times.
If you follow his rules and actually try you will pass. He is a amazing, funny, and outgoing teacher. Mainly group work with a couple solo Speeches. He helps you alot if you ask questions in class. It is as simple as follow directions and you will pass.
I had the best time of my life in this class! He defiantly is one in a million. Either you'll love him or hate him... But hes WAYYYY Underrated! He will defiantly make the semester worth it!!!! TAKE HIMMM!!!! -SMM
I had the best time of my life in this class! He defiantly is one in a million. Either you'll love him or hate him... But hes WAYYYY Underrated! He will defiantly make the semester worth it!!!! TAKE HIMMM!!!!
You will gain a great deal of knowledge, Professor Santelises is strict and professional. You will need to purchase the book or have at least one person in your group purchase it. YOU WILL PASS IF YOU complete all assignments, speeches, and service learning hours. Taking this course really helped me with my fear of public speaking.
I had a good time in Professor Santelises class; it was interested. His feed back is about the future, the real word and teaches you about the environment as well. He just want the best for his students to success in the real world.
Professor Santelises is a Professor who wants respect and for his criteria to be understood. Formal wear for some speech presentations , ensure it isnt too tight or revealing. Make sure you are on time to class. Follow his directions. Let him lead and you follow. He can be comical but respected is required. Assignments on time please!
Professor Santelises is awesome! Classes are meaningful, engaging, and relative. He WILL NOT just hand you a good grade though, by no means an easy A. BE ON TIME, ATTEND EVERY CLASS! Follow his guidelines very precisely and pay attention in class! Don't take, if your phone is glued to your hand, youact immature, or can't handle REAL WORLD convos.
Terribleeeeeee
Okay class. Get ready for lectures, tough grading, and a lot of work.
I respect where he's coming from but he's got some weird standards. The girls all have to wear stockings, for their professional attire, even if they wear slacks. I find that weird and I'm not even a girl! He is strict but his assignments are tedious and never posts the assignments with enough time to turn them in on blackboard so keep an eye out.
At first I thought this professor was regular and responsible until he started uploading assignments to turn it in 2 hours prior to class rather than 2 days before like regular professors, he gives you progress reports but does not mention your final grade. He expects you to make time and go to his office hours for any issues. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Honestly thought he was going to be a great teacher, was funny and was decent in the beginning. I did feel he discriminated people of color. Other than that, he does not tell you your progress. office hours are very limited, and was very strict with the women. If you are planning on taking him, i highly suggest you do not.
Professor Santelises challenges his students. Prepare yourself for lots of group activities, and oral presentations. I found this professor to be inspiring because his class helped me overcome my shyness and made me feel comfortable while publicly speaking. He is a tough grader! Don't skip class, and overall be respectful and mature.
LOOK EVERYONE, I just finished taking his class, and may I say that it was a big mistake. I made it out the class with a good grade, but honestly, I worked really hard and I felt like I would not have made it. He is a tough man when it comes to work, he gives jokes that are NOT EVEN FUNNY. Please, if you want an easier time in class, DONT TAKE HIM
While I do not necessarily agree with his methods, he will force you to get out of your shell, even if it will break you. Despite the fact that this is a speech class, your grade is heavily reliant on your writing, specifically if you follow the professors strict formatting. I would not recommend this professor to anyone.
While my experience may vary from that of others, I did not enjoy my time in this class, especially primarily due to the Professor. I did not find him nor his class particularly interesting. I found our discussions to be comically uncontroversial. I do not think it is a REAL WORLD CONVO to conclude that environmental deterioration is bad. Stop it
Although my input might be quite controversial, Professor Santelises allows his students to take initiative and improve their communication skills. Often speaking during office hours is helpful. His class was challenging, but made me realize that not all things come easily with minimal effort; be prepared to work hard for a good grade.
The course significantly improved my writing and speaking. We spoke about important topics that affects our day to day basis. The informative and persuasive presentations teach you to be careful with your words. Hes very accessible during office hours. Really nice individual with a good heart. Definitely recommend!
For a speech and communications professor, he talks in circles. He is never clear with his assignments, posts things at the last possible moment and cuts assignments in parts. No clear grade in the class, just the worst experience EVER.
Professor Santelises is a very mean and passive aggressive man. That's all.
Good professor with knowledge and experience.
Professor Santelises is great . If you like to learn and discuss about meaningful things, I would definitely recommend you taking him. You can see that he really cares about the kind of education that you receive. He gives great advice and also prepares his students for real life challenges. Be attentive, follow his lead and you will do great!
Attendance is definitely mandatory for this class, including punctuality. It's also important that he likes you, because it is obvious when comparing grades with others that he lets personal opinions interfere with grading. We were on zoom, and his lectures had us bored beyond comprehension. This class was miserable and extremely long.
This is by far the worst class Ive ever had in college ever!!!!!!! Proffesor Santelises is very passive aggressive and inappropriate. If using zoom he makes you have your camera on and if you turn it off for one second he calls you out. He calls students out all day. He has dress codes for online classes and makes you show your entire top half.
Professor Santelises class was great, he knows a lot about what he's teaching. He's a very critical grader so I advise you to visit him during office hours if your experiencing difficultly. His class challenges you to be bigger a better and if thats not what youre looking I advise you to not take his class. Also, he makes corny but funny jokes.
He will annoying the hell out of you
HES STRICT BUT WORK IS EASY FOLLOW GUIDELINES AND YOULL PASS DONT MISS A CLASS OR YOU MIGHT FALL BEHIND IF YOU DONT MEET WITH HIM 1-ON-1
if you are reading this, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Lots of work, Thousands of presentations, always has something negative to say about your work and will force you to redo the entire thing. Dont take this class.
Great professor. Available and very understanding. The calendar is very useful tool. No Surprises. He is big on professionalism so, cameras must be on the whole class time and there is dress code for official presentations. If you are respectful and willing to do the work, you will succeed. Some classes will be very fun.
If you really want to learn and reach a high intellectual level, take this class, otherwise do not take it. All you have to do is what a good student does. Do all homework on time, be prepared for class, be in class every day. For me, this professor teaches what my generation has lost "respect". Thank you, Professor Santelises for all you did!
This Professor was very disappointing. He does not post grades in the grade book so you cant see your progress. During presentations he will lower your grade for looking at the screen during the presentation but when you dont look at the screen and look more at your notes he will lower your grade for reading off your notes. Disappointed.
Professor Santelises explains what he requires from you the first day of class. Which is he grades everything including communication when I say everything I mean every thing. He sets an assignment and shows you an example of how its needs to be completed. He also has office hours where he explains anything you need (he grades that also).
If you take this class always do everything based on the guidelines and the outlines and always do everything on time, not a single paper you can turn in late, no extra credit and he never puts any grades on blackboard you will receive them eventually via email. The camera can not be turned off ever, but he gives a 20 mins break mid-class.
Professor Santelises is extremely unprofessional. Grades were never posted on Blackboard. He "emails" grades on projects, and does so variably. I never received my grades for his presentations, and there was no way to know what you had got on my assignments. He's a super discouraging teacher he would never make speakers feel comfortable. AVOID HIM.
Professor Santelises is not as bad as people make him out to be. His lectures are in-depth and have group communications. Presentations are important and manners matter. His feedback is great! May seem bad but he's not. I was worried in the beginning and now I honestly would take him again.
He doesn't grade fairly and the system is flawed. I was deducted points for something I did say in a presentation, but because he didn't hear it I lost points. It's your word against his as well because he doesn't record his classes so even if he made an error it cannot be proven. I ended up getting a C instead of an A on the assignment.
Professor Santelises is not an instructor I'd recommend. There were lots of flaws in his teaching ethics, such as not responding to student emails if the format did not fit the syllabus criteria (the syllabus was not accessible for students), very slow grading, and has a constant habit of interrupting students in the middle of speeches.
Professor Santelises is a difficult professor, but we can learn a lot from him. I was so glad to be with Mr. Santelises in Communication Class.
he is very patient and kind, and he does not mind repeating over and over and other for us to understand, the homework is more logical homework which means it helps you think like a college student. In my opinion, it was a fun class, Dynamic.
Prof. Santelises has a very well class prepared and is very thorough when following all the guidelines that he has set. I do believe that sometimes there are TOO many guidelines, causing the class to be very one-note. Nonetheless, he is very communicative and if you follow his prompts by the book and participate in class, you'll be just fine.
Professor Santelises is a good professor. He's very prompt and starts class ON TIME. You're graded on attendance and will get a C if your'e 5 mins late. Be prepared to be on camera. The work is doable, follow ALL directions. The grading, a bit harsh but follow instructions. Class is the entire duration so make sure the schedule fits your needs.
This Professor is not hard teacher that will not give you any problems. However, make sure that we do all assignments, make sure you attend all of the classes, and all of the assignment should be done correctly and every presentation is done perfectly. Especially, the presentation have to be done correctly, make sure there is no mistakes. One secre
Good learning! I much appreciate that, Thank you, Professor Santelises.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. There is much to be said, but the best reason I can give is that half the class dropped it. We had about 18-20 at the beginning, and the class ended with about 8 students. I had a lot of stress taking his class and I did not want to drop it. If I had another professor I would have gotten an A.
Professor Santelises is literally not that bad, people dragged it. Listen I got a C and will still respect and acknowledge that he is an excellent professor. He WILL mold you into a professional public speaker. Best advice: do NOT miss class, camera & mic a MUST, FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES, when you present don't read straight from notes. Trust me.
I genuinely feel like this man grades based on his mood because one class he could tell you that your speech is perfect and another class he could tell you that same speech was done wrong. Most of the time, he won't critique you until he grades the paper. He puts in grades weeks after doing it. And there's no way he knows what APA is.
This professor is horrible I hated him, I went to every class and did all the assignments. He's really hard and gave me bad vibes. I hated going to his class but had no other choice. He grades almost one month later after the semester starts. Don't recommend him AT ALL.
This professor was a very respectful person throughout the whole course. He gives off old English vibes. This might sound calm at first but it begins to be boring and when you are taking his class online he makes you stare at the camera for the whole lecture.
hello :-)
DO NOT TAKE HIM. I made the mistake of not taking these reviews seriously. He is VERY rude and disrespectful. He was never wrong, not even if the whole class told him HE said tht, he always said this is elementary lvl which would make us feel dumb, which we weren't he would just go in circles over explaining which caused confusion. (summer'23 6wk)
I do not recommend this professor. He is rude and sassy. His responses to students questions are disrespectful. He is overly strict and asks for too much from his students. DO NOT REGISTER FOR HIS CLASSES!
Terrible and really strict grader. You can stutter one word and you can fail.
I would rather spend the rest of my life as a Manure farmer in 12th Century Europe than spend another minute in this man's class. DO NOT TAKE.
Just imagine being so delusional to be REQUIRING for an online class to wear FORMAL ATTIRE and then excuse himself under "methaphors" that are really rude for curly hair students. Avoid this class at all cost, he's a real pain to bare.
Professor Santelises frequently repeats information, often making lectures unnecessarily long. Despite it being an online class, he does not allow students to eat during sessions. He takes a long time to grade assignments and is dismissive when questioned, even grading interactions like office hours and emails harshly. Do not recommend at all!
Professor Santelises has a specific teaching style, but engaging with it can be challenging. Attendance is mandatory, and the textbook is used. While the class can be difficult, Unstuck ai proved helpful for study prep.
He wasn't exactly mean or rude, but he definitely has high expectations. I took him on zoom for the fall semester, and I cannot tell you how many times he has kicked me out of the zoom. He does not allow eating in class, and you must always be paying attention (no talking to your friends off to the side). Professor Santelises is not horrible.
This professor was absolutely the worst professor I have ever taken at MDC. The workload is so heavy it feels like I'm drowning in work. Every time I would have to join his zoom class, I wanted to jump off my front porch. I would rather sort salt from sugar, I would rather mop the ocean. If you know what's good for you, don't take this class.
Imagine being so naive as to require students to wear formal attire for an online class, then excuse oneself with "metaphors" that are extremely offensive to poc's students with curly hair. He's a tremendous nightmare to put with it and acts like a little girl. Please stay away from him at all cost.
Just don't, you could out perform but this guy doesn't believe in A's or perfect scores, you simply can't get a 100 in any assignment other than attendance. Horrible teacher, bad person, bad communication (coming from a guy who was supposed to have excellent communication and teach you about communication). Just dont, saving u the time and trouble.
This class was not the best but it was tolerable. He is very specific with what he wants however when you ask for help his only response is to see him during office hours. I would say this is a class where you have to do a lot of the learning on your own. He is very strict with camera communication. He lacks empathy for emergencies. don't take him.
He kicks students out of they do not have the proper speakers or camera for their computer, very little projects but his grading is strict. This class is now withholding me from graduating because it is mandatory, please do not take his class.
Do not take any of his classes. Period. Very grateful to have been able to withdraw and take the course with a different professor. All negative reviews are very accurate.
He was a very polarizing professor. Feedback on assignments was unclear and impersonal (just comments made on the rubric), you could ask for better feedback during office hours but it still wasn't much. Don't expect to get by silently in this class because he will ask you for input. And don't let him get under your skin :-)
This professor is the MOST DISRESPECTFUL person I've ever had the unfortunate experience of meeting. He doesn't grade your assignment on time (As of writing this, he hasn't graded an assignment from Jan. 28). He presents himself as a strict, respectful, responsible professor, but his actions say otherwise. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How I would describe my feelings towards this professor is when Regina George from Mean Girls is writing in the burn book. That's all.
He is not that bad of a professor. However, I didn't really like that he is a late grader, which made me really nervous. Sometimes, his instructions are very vague and do not provide enough detail for the assignment. For sure, he is a tough grader. He also talks a lot in the lessons, which makes it very engaging.
The subject is not complicated at all, but the professor is. I really tried giving him grace but I personally did not have a good experience with him. He's very defensive even when he's at fault. For instance, not communicating an assignment and then just expecting the class to have that assignment ready for class. Definetly would not take again.
Each class is a survival game where you pray your camera doesn't glitch and your dog doesn't sneeze. Deadlines shift like tectonic plates, and if you dare ask a question, you might just get roasted. He once laughed at a student who was crying during her presentation (rip Princessa). Would not recommend unless you're into chaos theory.
The class is not difficult & if you put your mind to it, you'll do fine. He can be tough with grading but he is fair. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he will answer you. He is very engaging so pay attention & know what's going on. He is very funny. The curriculum is sound and very helpful for the future no matter what your degree is going to be.
Didn't learn anything new. The professor rambles for three-plus hours when the lecture could be done in 40 minutes max. He doesn't even ramble about the assignment but completely off topic things. His grading method is awful. He wants his assignments done in a specific way but he explains in depth after the deadline. And yes, cameras are on 24/7.
I took this course in 6 wks so everything seems harder, but it's really just condensed. The curriculum was sound and helpful. I learned some things I didn't even consider. I would advise taking this class after ENC1102, so you have APA format understood. This is a writing intensive class. Prof. is great and truly wants to help his students excel.
He is the worst I regret taking his class he talks in circles about the same thing even in riddles even when the main pointed was stated. His grading system is so backwards and doesn't grade on work but on how he feels about you in general he likes to bully those who are shy and quiet and judge those who doesn't look or fit his standards
This professor was overall not good. He graded terribly and did not give good feedback. His lectures were just him doing story time with examples of random stuff. We had essay outlines and group projects but he ended up taking it out of our final grades because most of the class was failing. Unfortunately I don't recommend this professor.
Never have I had a worse professor in my 12 years of public school and 1 year of college, nothing is perfect for this guy, you could do a perfect assignment and he will find a way to criticize your work even if its right, he loves targeting people as well.
I regret taking this course. I should've listened to the reviews. PLEASE LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH HIM!!!
Group projects will be present a lot of times, he is a passive-aggressive person, deep down i do believe he is dedicated or passionate about his subject but i dont think he does a great job at actually executing it, my class started with 25 people now at max we get 10 people who attend.
My experience with him wasn't bad at all. He does require a lot of in-class participation, camera on the whole time, etc. But I found his classes enjoyable most of the time. The most annoying part I can think of is when it comes to group assignments or when he asks for formal attire (which was once), but besides that, I think he's a good professor.
He does not perform his responsibilities effectively. Many of the comments he provides on assignments are inaccurate. His attitude&ego gets in the way of fair grading. He does not make the effort to clarify concepts, every question is met with ‘read the syllabus,' making it extremely hard to learn in his class. His approach is unhelpful
This was by far the worst professor I have ever had. I feel like I wasted three months. He's extremely passive-aggressive and unclear. Be prepared to be sent to the reading and writing lab repeatedly; even when your work is original and properly done, he accuses students of using AI. I do NOT recommend taking this professor under any circumstances!
He is very passive-aggressive, does not give good feedback, but sets such high standards for stuff that he does not explain in depth. If your camera goes off for 2 seconds, you'll be kicked out of the meeting. I felt like the classes were just repetitive, and he never tries to help; he only sends you to the reading and writing lab. He is big on AI!
