He is a good teacher but a bit slow but in your favor if you don't understand because he is thorough. Over all the class is very structured attendance is manditory he takes roll there is a quiz every Thursday and a good review for tests. He does 2 group quizes and encourages group work on projects.
He is a really good teacher. Gives lots of extra credit and the study guides for tests are structure the same way on the test but with different numbers. His teaching is very clear and he will answer all questions. Don't buy the text book. He will tell you to return it because he doesn't go by the book.
Good teacher, i think he may be new at teaching though. He is always there to help, very good at answering e-mails and cares about students succeeding. Gives extra credit..POTD
He is a good teacher, goes through everything step by step. He has a slight accent and speaks in a low tone so it can be hard to understand him sometimes. He gives reviews for tests and his tests are multiple choice. I would recommend him!!
Easiest math class you can take. Extra credit opportunities in EVERY class. Tests and quizzes are MULTIPLE CHOICE. He tells you what problems to study before a test. Do your homework, review the tests and get an easy A.
Aside from the work load on mathlab he expects us to keep up with even more time consuming work on canvas. He says he "borrows" work from other professors to give to us which explains why tests are different from HW. Ive never had a math prof. who requires canvas work which include projects and discussions along with mathlab. I regret taking him.
He is very nice and teach easy to understand.
Do not take his class. This professor is overloaded with work. There is a quiz every week. Tests and Final are very difficult and very confusing.
This professor cares about his students. His level of understanding in math is advanced, but he still needs to find the way to design a math class for full time and adult student. He is a young professor, he became a Doctor, now he needs to learn how to be a teacher.Take this class if you are a part time student or if u don't work.
Prof. Zargoza was a pretty good professor. I don't really understand how people say his course was difficult. Yes, there is work involved, but if you do the homework, sit through his lecture, work on the STUDY GUIDE before the test, then you will pass. This is college, you have to put work in. If you do the work in his class, you will easily pass.
Terrible. Projects, discussions, and "extra credit" that's completely irrelevant to the course or simply confusing and time consuming. I would not take this professor when there are other professors that teach the same subject without all the Canvas work and unnecessary work load. I would advice to pick another professor.
Worst professor I've ever had. His accent is a bit though to understand. He gets distracted way to easy and starts a conversation about things irrelevant to the topic or class. Stay away from this professor!
This professor does give you a lot of work but its for your own benefit. If you want to learn about math I suggest you take him, hes very helpful if you need it. He really is there for the students. Great Prof!
Very hard to understand if you sit in the front or the back of the class.
He is a good professor. He always tries to help us much as he can. The class is an easy A, you just must make sure you attend the class because he grades attendance. Gives plenty opportunities to improve your grade like group quizzes and projects. I would recommend this professor because he is very honest and fair with his grading.
Was very hard to understand no matter if you sat in front or back of the class.
I took his Intermediate algebra class. Very easy, if you do the HW and go to class, It's an easy A. He does have a thick Hispanic accent, but its not that hard to understand. He gives extra credit. I am taking him again for College algebra this summer.
Calculus is a very difficult subject (at least for me). He gives extra credit for attendance, answers the email very fast, he came even before class(7 am) to answer some of my questions. HE IS AWESOME! you will have to study in order to pass, but prof Zaragoza will not give you such a hard time as other professors and help you as much as he can.
Drop out while you can. He is an awful teacher and you will not understand him. If you get behind because a full time job and or parent he makes you go to office hours to get passwords to open assignments back up. He is an insensitive teacher.
Professor Zaragoza was very helpful and gave a lot of extra credit but his lectures were confusing, but as long as you do your homework on MyLabsPlus you should have a nice grade. He always has his office hours open if you need extra help and sometimes will give group quizzes. Don't buy the textbook, we NEVER used it.
Very helpful if you ask for it. Constantly reminds you that you can ask for help or finish a test in his office (classes were only 50 minutes). Tons of extra credit. I saw my grade go from a 91 after the final to a 96 because of it. 4 tests, quiz every week. Little disorganized, multiple group projects and quizzes. Lectures can be a little unclear.
Compared to many other math professors at FSW, Zaragoza is a god send. That said, his class is not easy. You have to work for a good grade and make sure you show him you care about his class. Go to his office hours, reach out to him, and do your extra credit and you will pass. He will not let you fail is you show him you are dedicated to his class.
On the first day of class, I thought I was taking cornerstone all over again. He gets way into "connecting with the class" and not enough math. He's overly helpful, but will push the issue before you get the chance to fully learn yourself. Really nice, a lot of extra credit, but disorganized lectures and a lot of group participation.
Easily the worst teacher I've ever had. Taking his class made me feel like I was back in highschool nay middle school. There are unnecessary "test dissections" before and after every test. He gives ample extra credit but it feel like a middle school class. If you feel like getting an A and not understanding/learning anything take him.
Prof. Zaragoza assigns a lot of work for little weight.
Has students do useless tasks that do not boost your grade but instead lower it if not completed. Accent is so thick that is in incomprehensible and is so unorganized that he can't follow through with a complete.
If you put in the effort you will pass. He's an easy going professor. However, I think he would be a better high school teacher than a college professor. He makes you do a mock exam before each test but they help you study. Like I said put in the effort and you will pass.
His teaching styles change like every week so your never on task and if you are you don't understand. Beware of the mock exams for every test.
Good professor very professional.
I took the course in the summer, and because it was such a short class (6 weeks) we had constant homework. If you do your homework, study, and the mock exams he assigns, you will pass the class. By doing the mock exams, it allows you to learn the process, instead of memorizing it. I would take Prof. Z again, he made Math easy for me.
Dr. Zaragoza is a professor that love to do almost all the activities, including quizzes in groups. I consider that completing activities in groups are essential, but accomplishing quizzes in groups are a little different. When students are in a group where other students do not care about their grades, that creates conflicts.
He is really caring, he is there for you when you need someone to talk to. He is understanding. He gives great feedback and also EXTRA CREDIT, he wants you to pass
Professor Zaragoza was the best Math Professor i've ever had! I've struggled with math during high school and college and professor z's teaching style definitely .helped me , he also makes sure the whole class is participating.
He is awesome! will go out of his way just to see you succeed. He's teaching style as many of you call unnecessary is actually great because he tries to interact with the class as much as he can. The mock exams are helpful, as you work on them you are studying which will benefit you on the test. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities as well.
I took this class online as a high school student and it was great. As long as you don't procrastinate and actually do the assignments you will pass. If you have questions he is quick to respond.
Zaragoza is really nice his and give a large opportunity to pass the class by his grading system. His style of teaching didn't work for me though, the tutoring lab taught me the majority of the class material.
He's great as a human being but as a professor he is difficult. There is pop quizzes everyday & gives out no reviews for test. He's very fast paced, but there is a lot of extra credit work you can do.
So far I have enjoyed this class, and Mr. Zaragoza has been a big part of that process. I have felt comfortable and have not become over stressed at all yet. So far so good.
Professor Zaragoza is very helpful.
Dr. Z explains math in a way that makes you really understand it. I've never been good at math in my life, but he has templates of the notes on canvas, so you just fill them in. He also gives you problems to practice in class instead of just sending you off to figure it out on your own. I thought I would hate this class, but it's my favorite.
Best Math Professor I have ever had! I've always struggled with math and he takes the time out to help you if you are in need.
He's a great teacher if you put the effort in
I liked that this professor included some funny videos in the course. It helped lighten my mood when approaching math. I also appreciated the annotated notes, since I take the class online. He gave us lots of extra credit chances and encouraged asking our peers for help on the pop quizes. I'm glad that he was my professor for math.
In the beginning, I had difficulty navigating through MyLabsPlus. I missed a few assignments at the due date but I was able to make them up for partial credit. This is the only problem I have had in this class. Many extra credit opportunities as well. If you do the assignments you will pass!
Dr. Zaragoza was a good teacher. Whenever i needed helped or needed understanding on something, I would email him and get email in a day or less.
He's a great professor I took him online, and the way the class was set up is I could go at my own pace. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities and grade improvements before the semester ends.
I took Professor Zaragoza online. He was awesome always respond quickly to emails and answered any questions you had. I would defiantly recommended him.
College Algebra was my first college class as a Dual Enrollment student and I couldn't ask for a better teacher. He was always there for anything I needed through the semester, answering my emails immediately. I highly recommend him. As long as you do the homework, you will pass. Make sure to do the study guides, they are very helpful for tests!
Make sure you do all the homework on time, it will hurt you if you do not.
This class is a helpful review on your mathematical skills and memory.
Very good professor. I'm not very good at math but this professor found many ways to help improve my grade.
This class was not very hard. You have to keep up with the work and not wait until the last minute. It good class but he was not my favorite professor.
Professor Zaragoza makes you love math. I took his online course, expecting to be hard, but it was an easy course. If you do your homework and pop quizzes, you'll do ok. He has the wonderful method of mock exams, I highly recommend you do that, because the tests are sooo much easier to pass. I definitely recommend this professor!
Professor Zaragoza seems more interested in his own appearance than in teaching the students. He assigns a lot of pointless material, and makes people work in groups. He makes you extend yourself and doesn't meet you halfway. Overall I think he is a inconvenient and careless professor. Unless you are good at math, I wouldn't recommend him.
Professor Zaragoza is very hard to understand and very hard to follow along with in class. His due dates for assignment are all over the place and he's not very decisive or confident in his teachings.
He's Not helpful at all. He makes math LONGER AND HARDER then what it supposed to be and he hard to understand because he still got his Spanish accent. Tutoring is your best choice to do. All he does is give u the answers to the problems when it supposed to be solved Step by step.
Great professor. will definitely help you as much as possible. Gives extra credit
Most of the problems I had in this class had nothing to do with the professor. I had issues with class participation. The people in my team did not cooperate at any point. Professor Zaragoza did a great job considering what he has to work with.
Wonderful! I took him online, met with him a few times in his office hours. He's VERY approachable. Accent is a little thick but nothing too hard. Gives MANY CHANCES for extra credit, highly recommend.
Throughout this course, I was able to gain a better understanding of math and its concepts. For once, I actually enjoyed a math course. I would recommend, if you were to take this class with this professor, to look at the schedule ahead of time since there are assignments on both canvas and MyMathLabs.
Such an amazing online professor. Always reminding you of work which is great. Always trying to help better your grade, lots and lots of extra credit. Extremely helpful, especially when emailing, he's always quick to reply.
I struggled with understanding the material because I did 1105 online.. I wish I took it in class. I love the professor because there is a lot of extra credit opportunity. Take him in class. Hard to meet with him for office hours.
Helpful, caring, easy to talk to, prompt response time, fair
He is a nice guy. For me, between his unclear English and his not so great lectures, I didn't like him as a teacher. I taught myself 80% of the material. Don't take this class if you need in depth learning.
Professor Zaragoza is the best! He is knowledgeable and understanding. I took his online course and definitely recommend it! All unit tests are proctored so you do have to know the material - not an easy 'a' but a lot of opportunity for extra credit. He's great at laying the foundation for the more difficult math courses. Take his class! :)
You have to do the home work, otherwise you will have a hard time passing the tests which are proctored.
There will be 4 tests that you need to go to a testing center for; 3 unit tests & the final. I would definitely recommend this professor to others. This class is an easy A (if you actually try, it's not too difficult in my opinion). He will give about 16-50 problems to complete as homework and an extra credit quiz afterwards, each week.
Mr. Zaragoza made me love Algebra all over again. His structure to the assignments made it really easy for me to retain the course material for the testing. He made sure to remind us when things were due and gave us the opportunity for extra credit. Most importantly he was fun! Wish he was my teacher for the rest of my college career.
Unless it is absolutely necessary, I would not recommend taking this class online. It is extremely difficult to master the material using the lectures and powerpoints on the website. Professor Zaragoza was a very caring and helpful professor, though.
Professor Zaragoza is great, he gives quick feedback to any questions. He is willing to work with you if you are having a hard time understanding materials. NOTES, NOTES, NOTES. Take notes throughout each section to refer to on the mock exam. Participation matters, what you give is what you get. The mock exams are your golden ticket. Do them!
As an online class it was very convenient, but you had to be careful not to lose track of due assignments. Homework on Canvas and mylabsplus is due every week, with a pop quiz for extra credit.
Very helpful, and he is a great teacher.
Would definitely take again.
He is a very nice guy but I love math and I took this class for summer b and it was super hard I literally had to teach myself and go to tutors. He is hard to understand because of his accent but other then that good luck. He gives lots of extra credit too!
Dr. Zaragoza uses the philosophical method "no one is left behind". Group projects in-class, on-board participation for extra credit, and every step of HW must be written out to show you fully understand. He is very caring, non-judgmental, calm and extremely helpful! He made math less intimidating and will be attending his MAC 1105 course.
For future students, stay on track with your due dates.
He has everything layed out nicely and as long as you complete assignments in a timely manner you will get a good grade in the class
I totally loved this online course. He was on top of replying to any questions and extra credit assignments. There are 3 mandatory exams but they are truly easy if you do your lessons. You don't really have to use the textbook but I did because it was more beneficial information for myself. I am super happy that Zaragoza does MAC 1105 as well!!
Great class to relearn the basics. Homework is plentiful, but it's easy to get full points for assignments. Tests are usually very similar to the study guide. Many assignments due just before the test are designed to increase your knowledge for the test.
Great professor that takes his time to help students learn and feel confident while performing math problems.
The configuration of this course was surprisingly easy. After a quick email to Dr. Zaragoza at the beginning of the semester, he helped clarify navigation. I am so grateful for his excellent communication. Tons of opportunity for extra credit - do the pop quizzes. Tons of opportunity to re-try homework problems and pre-quiz until you understand
Professor Zaragoza made it clear what his expectations of the class were. The class is easy enough to pass as long as you put in the work. Time management is essential. I learned many things in this course but working with polynomials really sticks out for me. I definitely suggest using the study plan in my labs plus to practice the material.
This was your typical online class. Homework and Quizzes online, test is proctored. There's homework and a quiz due every week. You really need to devote your time to this class in order to pass. Lots of work ahead of you too. Homework is usually 20-30 problems. Professor takes a bit of time to respond to emails, and tries to help when he can.
I took this course online, but Professor Zaragoza gives you plenty of opportunities for extra credit if math isn't your strong suit.
Many assignments but also a lot of chances for extra credit.
Easy class is you stay on track with assignment due dates. Theres too many steps before taking a test though. For example, mock exam and a lengthy study guide.
Doing all the homework assignments and studying for quizzes and tests will be really helpful in passing the class. He offers many opportunities to get extra credit and is very lenient.
As long as you keep up with the due dates of the assignments you will pass. Also if you are not strong in math use resources given to you.
I love this professor, he is super nice and works with you if you are having a hard time in the class. He gives out lots of extra credit and is an easy guy to get along with. Take his class, you wont be disappointed.
As long as you keep up with the due dates of the assignments you will pass. Also if you are not strong in math use resources given to you. He is super nice and works with you if you are having a hard time in the class. He gives out lots of extra credit and is an easy guy to get along with. DO Mock exams, Study guide and all the homework; they help
I took the online course and just like with any online class you have to keep track of the assignments and make sure you're staying with the schedule. There is work to be completed on canvas too, so remember that not all work is completed on mylabsplus. Lots of extra credit and resources to use so don't freak out if you're bad in math like me.
Professor Zaragoza is an overall great teacher. However, it was difficult for me to learn during class because of the way he structures his lectures. I also wish that quizzes where at the beginning of class instead of at the end. He gives multiple chances for extra credit and is always willing to help when needed.
The textbook is not necessarily needed and he gives good handouts. As long as you do all the homework and extra credit you'll be alright. Has a few fun discussion posts throughout too
Just Go To Class And Make Sure You Pay Attention To His Lecture/ Notes And You Will Pass
Wonderful professor! Puts you in teams and has group missions. If you need extra help or have questions he allows you to meet during office hours. Very inspirational. He shares great and funny videos for inspiration and even brings in donuts to motivate us. Be prepared for POP QUIZZES! Over all I would recommend this professor!
He is very knowledgeable about math but most of the time I couldnt really understand what he was saying( not because he had an accent, he was just kind of confusing). I mostly learned how to do everything from the homework and my friends (he assigns groups at the beginning of the semester). LOTS of extra credit though!
He wants you to pass and will give you every opportunity to be able to pass.
He has a pop quiz every week, which isnt technically a pop quiz I guess. Its extra credit, so all you have to do is read ahead a little to get some points. He makes things a little complicated for no reason for his assignments, as in, it isnt just math, so you have to figure out how to do the assignment as well as actually doing it.
I am not good at math, but because of his techniques and all the practice opportunities he gives, it actually sunk in. He gives alot of pop quizzes, quizzes, tests, homework and extra credit. If your not one who does homework i would not recommend this professor because everything revolves around the homework including the extra credit.
Hes good and he gives u a lot of Extra Credit
He is excellent , I definitely would take more classes with him
Professor Zaragoza is a really nice guy, and cares about your grade, he is very helpful and takes his time to make sure you understand.
Professor Zaragoza is an amazing professor! He is extremely dedicated, I took him online and he still goes above and beyond to reach out to the class. Lots of extra credit opportunities are provided, he also sends reminders for upcoming due dates. There is a somewhat heavy workload before tests, but it is worth it if you want to pass!
Good Professor, but is a little hectic, be ready to do the homework.
Professor Zaragoza is a great professor! He really takes the time to make learning fun and he give extra credit! I would take another one of his courses.
This class was an easy A for me. The professor gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.
A great professor, definitely would take him again, give extra credit for everything, yes he does a lot of pop quizzes, homework, and papel to do... but like I said is all extra credit... totally up to u if u want to get it. Imposible to not pass his class with an A.
Good Prof. Excellent course to take online.
He has a good class going for him, the only thing is he seems a bit nervous when he speaks and is often very quiet when he lectures making things a bit more difficult to understand. He gives out a lot of extra credit and a lot of chances to redeem yourself so that's good!
This class was easy if you paid attention, if you missed a class you can get behind but my labs plus always helps clear things up.
great professor,
Professor Zaragoza had fun lectures that connects with his students. Be sure to do all the homework on time as they will collect a late penalty if not done so. The tests are easy if you do the mock exam and the pop quizzes count as extra credit. Overall fairly easy class but can be challenging if you do not keep track of the homework.
Great professor would take again
His lectures were very helpful; I didn't have to study much outside of class. There was a quiz every Wednesday, and 3 tests + a final exam for the whole semester. He definitely made sure to help during office hours if you needed it. The only thing I disliked was the constant homework on MyLabsPlus, but that is to be expected. I would take him again
Math has always been one of my weakest subjects, but I found this class easy to understand. Professor does make sure that he is available outside of class as well for any questions or help you may need. He also gives extra credit for every test.
Tough class but professor was reasonable with student issues.
very helpful, care about his students.. he encourages you to come to office hours. this is a tough class to begin. but he try to help you the best he can
Good class, good content, and never had a reason to complain about the teaching style or the teacher.
Lots of assignments, expects all work shown to receive full credit.
Great professor and gives many opportunities for extra credit
Do the work on time and you'll pass the class and Extra Credits are available to improve your grade.
He is a great professor! His lectures were very helpful and very understandable, teaching style is good, gives you printed out notes before class starts, gives out a lot of extra credit to help you, and always encourages you to come to office hours. If you do the homework, tests, and pop quiz should be easy class to pass. I would take his class again
Professor Zaragoza wants the best for you, he is always available and willing to help. Genuinely wants you to understand and pass the class! Lots of homework and quizzes but if you attend class and give a true effort, you will be ok.
He is very helpful to anyone in need. Extra credit is always available if you are willing to do the extra work.
The home work is on my labs plus.
Hes A good person, if youre looking for in depth teaching I wouldnt recommend him. He gives a ton of extra credit.
Great Professor.
Great teacher
Gives a lot of extra credit, he really wants the student to succeed. Expect 20-40 problems a week of homework on my labs plus ,but there not to difficult. He Has 3 tests and a final and 10 quizzes. Math is my worst subject and I didnt mind going to class and felt ready for the tests.
Really all you have to do is the online homework then pass the test everything else is pretty much unnecessary.
A lot of quizes, homework and study guides you are expected to make.
Tough class for a guy like me, but the Professor did his best to help me.
Lots of opportunity for extra credit would take again
Very good professor. Cares a lot about is students and is always willing to help. Gives little discussion posts here & there to help boost your grade. A lot of work but it is a math class, I highly recommend him.
Tons of extra credit.
So many opportunities for extra credit! 4 proctored exams. just do hw, study guides, mock exams and do well on the test and you'll get an A.
Math is definitely not my strongest, I enjoyed how things I struggled with (factoring, fractions etc) were covered. I think the biggest thing for this class is be prepared to study and work for your grade. If you take time out to work for your grade you should do great! Lots of opportunities for extra credit, I can't wait to take this prof again!
The class itself was very easy. It was more of a review of basic algebra, so I didnt learn anything new. Some things to be warned of, homework isnt an option. The homework is very easy, and can be tedious, but it is very important for your grade. You also get extra credit points, so I would take advantage of that and boost your grade up with it.
Easy class as long as you study for the exams and do all the homework.
Mr. Zaragoza is an amazing professor! Not good at math but thanks to him with extra credit it helped a lot for improvement. He's very good at responding back to messages either same day or the next day but never 2 or more days later like other professors do. I highly recommend!
I really liked this teacher. She gives extra credit towards each test so that's very helpful! One thing about this online class is you have to do this assignment before each test that's long and time consuming called a mock test, but if you are up for the work then this is a class for you. Not difficult at all!
This professor gives you a lot of homework, and about 4 tests. He does offer extra credit opportunities, which is helpful.
Taking this class this semester online definitely was easier and better with this professor. He gave lots of extra credit options and replied back fast to questions.
Professor Zaragoza is an Awesome Professor and gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit throughout the class. He responds quickly to emails. I would highly recommend him.
Easy math class. You refresh a lot of math skills, beware of due dates. Do the homework and study guides and you will pass.
This professor is really amazing. I feel as if a math class is never easy, especially online but I think he gives great feedback and he gives out mock exams before you take the test and in my opinion that's a great way for you to learn as well.
Took Calc, passed with an A, but had to work EXTREMELY hard for it. Prof is not the greatest at explaining a concept... had to get tutored elsewhere. BUT, you can tell that he does care and tries to help his students. LOTS of quizzes (11), HORRID group projects, mock exams, all-written tests, web assign homework. Would I take him again? Meh, maybe.
This class was one of the worst I have ever taken. He did not follow the schedule on the syllabus one bit & literally took 4 weeks to grade our first exam. He does not explain things well and he used his wife's notes & powerpoint throughout the duration of the course. He does offer extra credit yet, it has minimal effect on your grade. DO NOT TAKE
Not easy to understand!
I loved Mr. Z so much! I had him for Intermediate Algebra so it was relatively easy class but he made me enjoy math which I typically dont like. He gave lots of extra credit which was really really nice. He was also really good on giving us lots of practice so we could constantly practice our math skills. I learned a lot and liked the class!
Hes the type of teacher thatll pick on you randomly for an answer. Thats not bad thing though since he helps you through it even if you dont know. His lectures are clear and precise. If you have questions at the end of the problem hell answer all of them before moving on.
He's such a nice guy but the class is so unorganized, he doesn't even know whats do. He will say something is extra credit and then it's not and he lectures for hours days before exams on things like how to calculate your grade. I wish he focused more on the curriculum and was organized.
Mr. zaragoza is not the kinda math teacher you want very disorganized. notes look nothing like the homework, homework looks nothing like the study guides, study guides look nothing like the test. tests are hard and marks you down for all incorrect notation even if you get to the correct answer will still mark the problem wrong. DO NOT TAKE
This class is online, the Professor is very caring and helpful. Even though Prof. Has a Little bit accent but with me I feel fine with it. I will take a class again if I have a chance.
He brought his own lunch, but it was always beans, so his room reeked of ramen?
he isn't clear when teaching, made explanations complicated. HE IS A SUPER SLOW GRADER, I didn't get my homework imputed till the end of the semester. I learned to.. do everything the moment it is announced so you don't fall behind in his grading. He offers so much extra credit so you rly would need to do nothing in his class to fail
