Well I failed 3 of her exams out of 4 exams. The other exam i got a high B and I passed the class with a C. I think shes understanding and helpful. she knew i was struggling and trying so i guess thats why she passed me. Get on her good side and ull pass.

I have here for summer, I think she is a great Professor and lecturer, her test are tough, but you have to study and read the book, I will probably take her again for Mex. Hist.

She is only a hard teacher if you don't read the required reading in the class. Her exams can be a little tricky with questions, but mostly very fair with what she tests you on. She does get a few things wrong in the lecture, so do your reading carefully!

Had her class in a lecture hall. Simply go to class take some notes, and skim the book before the test, and you should do fine. Tests aren't that dificult. Due to her accent, she could be hard to understand at times, but overall this class is pretty easy.

her accent kinda bugs and she is always late to class. i think i have fallen asleep every single class, which i never do, so thats how boring it is. the tests seem easy but she words them so messed up that its hard to understand what the question is asking in the first place.

tough with tricky tests. but she is a fair teach.

A really terrific professor. She knows what she's talking about, and an 'A' is perfectly feasable without exhaustian of any kind.

i took her for ethnic studies during intersession and it was an easy A. then i took History of Mexico with her, and she knew her stuff.

Just read the book, take notes while watching the videos, and understand the 3 sociological theories that are constantly used throughout the course and you will be fine. She can be difficult to understand but her notes and tests are based off the book except for the essay part which is from the video. Pretty straightforward class.

Professor Gonzales is extremely organized and thorough in her teaching style. She does not tolerate the company of students who is not up for the academic challenge. Her exams are tough but if you are a hard working and serious student...you will receive an "A". Passing her class will give you a great sense of accomplishment.

boring class, hard to stay awake. don't snooze or use your phone in this class, she will call you out on it!!! even though this class sucked, i still got away with a B.

Great class. She does her best to make the class interesting. Likes the students to voice there opinions about the subjects she teaches. Class very straightforward her outlines are exactly what is mainly on the tests.

Recommend taking her during summer. Half her lectures are off the topic. Sweet and nice if you're on her good side. However, I was extremely offended by her racial commentaries.

I took History 175 with her. She was very engaging, I learned a lot. She has an accent, but it does not hinder her teaching. Her tests are reasonable. If you study, you should do well. Attendance is mandatory. I liked her a lot.

She is very nice and very straight up with the information you need. Just make sure you attend class and do all the readings and you'll be fine. Her tests are multiple choice and all the questions come straight from lecture and the readings.

Took her over the intersession. I was suprised on how well I did in her class. She is very generous on her grading. No extra credit.

I took HIST 175 over the intersession break and found this class incredibly easy....she let us use notes for the tests and gave us study guides so it was an extremely easy class...no need to bother taking notes since she didn't structure her slides in a note-taking manner...but overall easy class! highly recommend!

This was my favorite class. She was a great teacher who really cares about her job. She not only teaches tolerance as part of the curriculum but also provides tolerance to obnoxious students. She is a very educated woman who also teaches at UCI. This class changed the way I looked at many areas of my life and is very applicable to everyone's life.

She is da bomb. I just had to keep up with the reading.Tests are super easy.

This prof is awesome you guys. I dropped her class first semester cuz I missed a test (DONT miss the tests.......she DOES NOT EVER LET YOU MAKE THEM UP EVER) but thats how it should be really. Her class applies to every other class you have in some way. helped a lot with journalism too (ethnic relations, etc) two thumbs up FUNEZ!

Good instructor, You will learn a lot from her, you just need to attend class and do the readings. Even if you don't do the readings you can get at least a C. I took both her Ethnic Studies classes and got a B in each one. I assume the people who say she is a bad instructor were slackers and got poor grades in all of there classes anyway.

She is great! If you are GENUINELY interested in the subject, you will love it, she goes in depth and shows numerous INTERESTING documentaries to demonstrate the ideas in the book. To the haters complaining about accents or "boringness": She can speak 4 languages, can you? Doubt it. And If you think this is boring you don't belong in college

Shes highly qualified, I enjoyed the class, If you do the readings and take good notes by writing down everything on the powerpoint you will be successful. There is one paper that is worth 30% of your grade do well on that you will do well in the class.

she is a nice teacher and her accent isnt that bad. I am probably more **** than ever after completing her class. I wish she would have made the material interesting, there was lots of whining and the material was eh. EASY A, but i would recommend taking another class unless you must take ethnic

Ok, she does have an accent but it's not impossible to understand, the people complaining are the one's the didn't get the grade. She is always open for questions even if there are obvious answers. Very approachable, thought the lectures were kinda boring. Tests weren't too hard just have to study. Overall, liked her class but not the best teacher.

i recommend her summer class, it was easy. we watched a lot of movies. All of the information for the tests was reviewed and in the textbook.

Her accent is not bad at all. She is a good teacher. She demands respect in her classroom...so no phones, no sleeping, and no leaving. Class was easy, all you had to do was read the book or listen to her lectures and you'd get an A. We watched 1 movie, but we mainly just took notes off of her power point.

Her accent isn't bad at all &she's very enthusiastic about what she teaches. Tests=EXTREMELY EASY. Everything in her powerpoint lectures were word for word on the test &they were a guideline as to what you should read from the book. Definitely read the book. The only thing that screwed everyone up was the essay, so don't take it for granted.

People only complained about her because they screwed up big time on the essay. People would also make fun of her accent because they were angry at the grades they got, so they displaced it upon her, which was ironic seeing as one of the topics constantly discussed was racism. Racist & immature much? Anyways, definitely take her class. Easy tests.

Hard to understand?! Really, people - this is Ethnic Studies. If you had any concept of what the class was about in the first place, this wouldn't even be an issue. Good class - tests were not difficult, but she was tough on the essay. I got an 85 but have always received 100 on previous papers. Don't underestimate the essay.

she does have an accent,but you could still understand her. you can correct her, she only gets annoyed get you tell her things like there is no racism anymore. Thats why we are in that class.

Easy A, especially if you are math/science major. Make sure you remember the questions on the quiz. She uses most of them on the test. Also read the chapter before going to class b/c she'll quiz you on that same day (granted it was a summer class). A lot people I knew were getting bad grades b/c they were just plain lazy. Let darwinism handle them

Good teacher, history 175 is a great US history class, very interesting!

This class overall was really easy. I got A's on all of my exams and a B on one. As long as you do read the assigned chapters and take notes from the powerpoints she gives, you'll be totally fine. Do any extra credit she assigns, it really helps and make sure you come to class every day because sometimes she gives quizzed that count for extra cred.

She is not mean. She knows what she teaches but it's just her lecture is so boring. Everything is based on PowerPoint. She talks whole 3 hours (I took 3hrs long class). Paper is important, so take your time on the paper. Tests were not easy even it was based on lecture and powerpoint. IF you want an A, you need to put effort.

She is adorable. She talks about history as if she is gossiping, and even though I can't stand learning about what our nation has done wrong, I loved her class. Easy B if you use the study guide! Also, she really cares and is there to help! Take this class

Great class, Mrs Gonzales is a great teacher. If you pay attention and show up to class and do the study guides you will get an A in her class. She is a great teacher, as long as you stay the entire class you wont have any problems. Very helpful and nice. She tells you everything that's going to be on the test, one of my favorite teachers!

Not an easy teacher, so paying attention on what she says is and he notes she give is a must! I had no interest in the beginning but as time goes on, it got more interesting. And no cellphones, she doesn't like that :p

She was a very good history teacher. I learned quite a bit and her passion for history is a bit contagious (at least it was for me). The only problem was her accent which was at times hard to understand. However, if you ask her to repeat herself she will. I recommend her history class if you have an interest in the subject.

Shes seriously one of my favorite teachers at OCC. You MUST read the book in order to get A's on the tests and definitely ask her for extra help on the essay. Use the notes as a guideline when reading the book.

She is a wonderful teacher with lots of patience. I loved the documentaries she played in class cause it gave better insight. She is very helpful and if you want an A in her class follow her directions. Read the book!!! I have learned a lot from this class. Love this teacher!!!!

She is a good teacher, she explains most of the topics that will be on the test. Her study guides are EXACTLY like the test. The book is not needed for a B but definetly for the test, because her study guides are book specific.

I enjoy her class and her lecture notes. You must be present in class and read the book and you will get an easy A! That's what college is about, if you don't read a book you pay, you would not pass. I highly recommend this teacher!

Tough grader on the assignments. She teaches the same thing every weak!

She is a good teacher. She usually knows what she is talking about. Her Lectures are power point with little emphasis; she does it that way so the students have to read and understand the subject. Her Study Guides are literally what she asks on her test. Read and do the Study Guide; you will pass with an A. She gives out a lot of Quizzes!!!

The comment Below, about prejudice & hatred towards other races is absurd!. This class covers different matters, topics & a large part of it is about racism & inequality. The book require for this class is titled "Minority....." clearly about minority inequality in this country. She's a decent instructor and you will learn a lot about this topic.

TAKE SOCIOLOGY 100 BEFORE YOU TAKE THIS CLASS. It makes it SO much easier. Assigns one two page paper, easy. Has four-five tests, easy. If you attend class and listen during her lectures, you'll pass.

Good teacher, she is very passionate about the subject and tries to get the class to participate. The class was overall easy as long as you came in and took notes and listened to her. Yes she has an accent, but you'll get use to it. 30% of the Test Questions are based off the book so read. A few quizzes and a few videos that are very interesting.

Everyone saying its hard listening to her in class because of her accent had no intention to listen in the first place. Taken 2 of her classes, tied as MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR! Beautiful person & passionate for her subject, a real friend outside of class. You people should be thanking her for making you use your brain and try for once. EffortEASY A!

This professor really inspired me and helped me realize my passion for sociology. I would take this class again! She was very accommodating in terms of my disability and was easy to work with. I respected her very much and she wasn't too strict. She let me drink coffee in class! She is a very nice person inside and outside of class.

She is passionate about her subject. I just didn't like the fact that anything distracted her like cell phones and people sleeping, she even yelled at this one guy for looking at his phone too much. But class itself was easy to pass with the notes she told us to take.

I took Dr. Gonzalez's class during the spring intersession. Because the class was spread out over 4 weeks, we moved through the course material really quickly. The only assignments were 2 quizzes and 1 chapter test every week. As long as you read the book and review the PowerPoint slides/videos, you'll do fine in this class.
