Extremely demeaning to students. I could deal with this is it wasn't for the fact that the course had NO structure or standards whatsoever. She graded on a whim without consistency. Half the class reported her to the department and dean. I'm used to high standards, but not blatant inconsistency. I've heard her other courses aren't as bad.

worst professor I have ever had at Binghamton. she belittles every student in the class, has no respect for opinions other than her own, makes you buy her own books (and suggests to buy the online version because it's more expensive and she'll get more money), is condescending to students at all times, is inappropriate, dont ever take her classes.

In a semester that is currently ongoing, I had taken "US War on Drugs & Latin America" as an upper-level elective and out of interest. I have learned little to none from Diaz; all of the work is through readings and the lectures consist of reviewing previous quizzes. This was the most disengaging class I've ever been a part of. Do the readings.

Juanita Diaz is a horrible professor. She is rude, highly disorganized, and gives an unreasonably large amount of reading for class. She expects her students to read 100+ pages of articles per week, yet she cant even organize her quizzes correctly for students. Furthermore, she requires students to read her own book so she can make more money.

ONLY TAKE HER CLASSES IF THEY ARE ONLINE. I took US War on Drugs and Latin America. Your entire grade is solely based off of reading quizzes (which if you have the readings open online and do command f, you can easily get A's on) and attendance. No exams or papers which is great. Only take online tho b/c without Command F for the quizzes its hell

Terrible. Worst professor at Binghamton. Do not take her class you wanna be degraded. She grades on a whim and gives no explanation as to why she gave you the grade, just says refer to the notes that she wrote that arent even legible. 2 10-15 page papers that even if you do still wont be good enough. Probably will yell at you when you ask her y

horrible class, shes not understanding at all, doesnt care if you are on your last breath u must go into class, VERY disrespectful and childish for as old as she is and expectations are way too high and doesnt make sense for it to be a college course.

Prof.Diaz has done amazing work for the Latin community, esp. in prisoner rights and advocacy of incarcerated women. She has high expectations for her students to read everything that is posted each week, you're quizzed on it, that makes up 80% of grade. She lectures & shows relevant videos. Being respectful goes a long way with her.

run. do not take her. do not do it. overload if you have to. quizzes were 80% of the grade, purely based off the readings, 40 questions a week. she rambles about NOTHING for three hours straight. assigns anywhere from 100-200 pages of reading a week. incredibly boring lectures. will never let you miss class. ever. stay away from her.

I took her for Soc 380 G. This is an upper-level Soc class. This is an upper-level soc class. If you don't like talking, don't take this class; if you're not comfortable getting political, don't take this class. If you want an easy A, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. The professor is amazing and a great person. She's so sweet and generally a nice person.

An amazing teacher, don't get the hate. Dr Diaz mostly teaches 300+ lvl sociology discussion courses, you're gonna be participating and reading, that's probably a given from an upper-level soc. If that's your complaint abt her that "she gives a lot of readings", just go into business or something. She's awesome, you just gotta participate and try.

I enjoyed the topics covered in the readings, but there was a lot of readings and the lectures did not even cover the topics we read about, it was more just whatever she wanted to talk about. Because she has been teaching this course for many years it did not feel like she came to the class prepared for the topic she more relied on prev. knowledge
