He gives a sutdy guide and you better know everything on the list for the practicum. He is not helpful to those who aren't working hard, but if you really are trying he is helpful.
No matter what, be prepared to study. However, Hampton will do what it takes to try and make the course as pleasant as possible. His lecture notes are clear, tells you what to study, and grades fairly.
He is the most awesome teacher I have ever had. He is helpful and explains everything so clearly.
He is a very knowledgeable and approchable professor. He is clear on what you need to know and is actually flexible when there may be more then one correct answer on a practicum. He is fair and understands that his students work very hard to memorise the material.
Hampton is the BOMB! never take Mansfield.... He caring and clear.

Great professor to have for physiology. The class with lab is difficult in itself, but he makes an effort to facilitate the class to his students.
He is a nomal pro. He is going to help student whenever they ask him. You are better know and study all things be4 ask him; otherwise, you don't know what he is talking about. Anyways, he has some good tips to study Anatomy.
Anatomy is not an easy subject, but he makes it fun with his examples from when he was working as a pathologist. He is very approachable, knowledgeable, and fair. He also gives extra credit points(Thank God)!
He is indeed a good professor and helps his student a lot.
Lectures are fun. He is clear but dislike "dumb" questions. He tells you what's on the exam, but he can be tricky. Make sure you remember all his emphasis because it will be on the exam. Class average were 50% but he does give tons of extra points. Getting a B- is an A. Anatomy has lots of memorizing and comprehending. Study!
He is a teacher just for the native students!! If you are a international student, don't take his class.. i think SCC Bio. teacher is better!!
All I have to say is, if you plan on taking this class during the summer time and want to come out with an "A", you can KISS your social life good bye because for the duration of the class, your anatomy book is going to become your best friend!
Mr. Hampton's lectures were interesting - enjoyed them! I think he knows that every one burns out towards the end so he had twice as many tests/quizzes in the beginning of the semester. Plan on studying about 20 hrs a week. He does give lots of EC so in the end I got an "A". Take him!
He seems to dislike it when people are succeeding in his class....I didn't like the class personally because he did not provide clarity...but rather confussion...i decided to take it at GWC instead.
Mr. Haptom is truly a good professor. He knows what he is doing. Take him for Physiology!! DON"T TAKE MANSFIELD. Haptom is way better than Mansfield and doesn't have a P.h.D. Her tests are tricky, but it's stuff that he tells you to study. He is nice overall. He will help you with anything, just ask.
I have taken him for the combined course of Anatomy and physiology as well as the physiology course alone. I did not gain enough from his teachings which made the studying very difficult. I studied as much as I possibily could but did not obtain the grade I had hoped for.SCC better!!! Robert Houska is highly reccomended by all his students.
This profesor is not helpful at all.If you are planning to take any Bio classes with this professor be ready to teach yourself! His lectures are not organized at all. When you first attend his class the syllabus that he hands out is at least 2 semesters old. Every thing is just so confusing in his class. This professor is picky and not good at teachi
Hampton's tough, but this is a tough subject. (Just attend John's study group & you're good.) Tests were more difficult than what I was used to, but as he said at the first lecture: "God forbid I make you THINK on a test." Very true. If you're heading into the nursing program, you think isn't gonna get easier? We're not in high school anymore.
Hmm, have to say I learned a lot in his class. He was tough but gives a lot of extra credit. know all the material in and out throughout the semester or it will come up behind you and bite cha in the a$$. His tests are a bit tricky and you never know what cha going to expect. 90% lecute notes 10% book use do the math to pass.
Is a great professor but the class is hard...you will end up really learning the stuff if you try in the class..and keep up on your work.
He is a horrible instructor! He'll go over his lecture book with you, which you have to buy, but he'll test you on stuff completely different (stuff he's never lectured on). Good luck with passing his tests. No wonder they say make sure to study with John (or whatever his name is)
He told us to study parts off the lab manual & when we took the quiz we were tested on what was in the textbook-NOT the manual. He didnt make it clear when the test dates are for quizes in lab. His calendar is a bit confusing too. Be prepared to study hard and follow the syllabus!!
althoug i got a very high B,i still say u have to really wk ur a$$ for your grade.he makes you purchase a chapter outline for his class,n the lecture testes were still very.he could ask you a ? and u will never think he will ask it.n worse if you take him as a lab instructor. he hardly gives instruction.if u have to take him, avoid his lab.
If you're looking for easy then don't do Prof. Hampton. Material can be overwhelming but he does make it easier to understand and makes it fun as well. Def. not a slackers class, you'll have to put in the work to get a passing grade. Doesn't care much for attendance but if you don't show up, you may miss out on some E.C. Study hard!
i took it summer '07, an "OK" teacher. he mainly talked of stories bio-related in his past jobs in the health field. interesting stories related to wat he was teaching. kind of hard on tests, but if you study hard and attend john's studdy sessions, and take advantage of ALOT of EXTRA CREDIT he gives, you'll be fine.
Def. recommend! He's def. not an easy teacher but he makes the class fun and you'll leave his class learning what you should. Stick to his outlines and study guides. Offers a good amount of extra credit so getting an A shouldn't be too hard. Read the the textbook - use his outlines - and you should be fine. If possible, try and take him for lab too
Very good teacher. Uses his experiences as a pathologist in teaching. Nice subject but if you try to slack off you'll definitely loose precious points. Study hard and good luck!
Absolutely wonderful class! He has high expectations, but is very clear about the effort necessary for a passing grade. Staying current with reading assignments is mandatory! Very dry sense of humor I found thoroughly entertaining.
Two words sum it all up. Forever Young.
just know that you have to work for your grade. the subject can be hard to understand but he does a good job to keep you interested and the guy is pretty funny. overall he is hard but fair.
Great professor, post lectures online, focus on outline and lectures, use book for reference..Great lecturer, he has great stories to tell..Lots extra credit (17%of grade i think)..practicums a little challenging and all lecture exams are MC
I am in the hybrid online/on campus lab ... and so far, this class is the most unorganized class I've ever taken. Sure, he gives lots of extra credit, but he does that for a reason. Class is too difficult and expects us to know too much information in too little time. He never attends the labs like he said he would.
Jubal Hampton is the best teacher I have ever had, I learned more in one semester than I have in any class. He wants his students to be "Victorious, not victimized" and it shows. Bottom Line TAKE HIM, HE IS AMAZING!
Im in the on-line summer class and I must say that this teacher is of no help at all.He is unorginized and very unfair. One of the WORST teachers I have ever had.I truly do not feel he cares about the students at all. I suggest taking this class at SCC with M.Smith,he is a excellent teach unlike Hampton
A horrible teacher. If you have to take him make sure you go to Johns study group. He does a good job, to bad he is not the teacher.
I took him in the summer. He was great when he gave us a lot of extra credit. But you do have to work hard to get an A.
Professor Hampton is a pretty difficult teacher. He makes you work for your grade. He gives out extra credit, but still you have to work for it. If you're serious about going into the nursing program and he's the only one that work with your schedule, take easy classes or just take this one by yourself. He's pretty funny through. Not an easy A or B
"Forrreverrrr young...i wanna be forrrever young." get use to that if ur gonna take this class...Study!! ull be fine
I love him.
very funny teacher, love him, lots of extra credit. hard critical thinking. just read the book before lecture and attend the study sessions.
I must say that this teacher is of no help at all.He is rude and very unfair. One of the WORST teachers I have ever had.He does not allow you to freely ask questions. I truly do not feel he cares about the students at all.
this prof is no help at all.He is rude and very unfair. One of the WORST prof I have ever had.He does not allow you to freely ask questions. I truly do not feel he cares about the students at all. Your basically on your own!! you will self teach in this class
I swear my comments are good. 1) don't need to go to class. 2) listen to the audio links on his website b/c a lot information is on there and he keeps forgetting to talk about some things in his new lecture. if he says something twice or spells out something, i guarantee you: it will be on the test! another tip: always study for extra credit!
A horrible teacher. If you have to take him make. This is a self taught class. You must work on your own. He is very unapproachable, rude, and unhelpful!!! John the tutor should be the teacher he was very patient and explained things in detail. I have a 3.0 GPA and swear on my comments!! Don't take him! He shouldn't even be a teacher!
Hampton is actually approachable; he's very knowledgeable and funny! He also inserts a lot of pathophysiology in this anatomy class (and that's just good preparation for Physiology with Mansfield). Lots of material (websites, handouts, audio, etc) available for various learning styles. Midterm was a bit harder than expected, but so much extra credit!
Hampton is a great professor and also quite funny. Those that gave him bad ratings I suspect were hoping for an easy 'A' - Anatomy is not easy! Hampton will make you earn your grade but he will help you - IF you ask, and he will give extra credit but you have to earn it. If you aren't looking to learn then this class isn't for you.
I think he is a competence and good natured professor. He has some rules and as long as you dont break them, you wont find him rude as others said. You have to study for your grade of course, but grade A is doable if you study hard. Take the lab with Patel Denny as well, this is a perfect choice because the grade in Patel's lab will partly save you
awesome prof, very clear in his lectures and extremely easy to follow. he made a hard class fun and enjoyable
Hampton's lectures were OK their is alot to memorize in his class not easy. Don't take SAHU you won't learn anything on her Lab and will have a hard time understanding her. She is nice but should not be teaching 2/3 of her Lab class dropped and so did I. Will retake with Hampton's Lab. Just wasted my time.
Disappointed. Not a high caliber instructor who exudes professionalism. Comes across as needing to prove he knows science instead of helping students learn it. Would be nice if class had more structure.
His class is not easy, BUT there is highly chance to get an A or B because he gives you many extra credits. I took him in Spring'10, and he gave us 95 points extra credit out of 515 total. However, his extra credit is NOT free points because you need to earn it. So, take him if you are a motivated student. He is also helpful when you are motivated.
Very interesting and fun professor! Here's my advise: don't take Sahu lab..take lab with him, don't fall behind with practicums...STUDY!!! possible to get a B just by studying the notes...his lectures online are word for word with what he says in class..learn all xtra credit! A is not as hard to get if you Study a LOT and have good memory!
if you study, possible to get an A. but if not study, never get A. there are tons of extra credit so you will be able to make up ur points. also, there are tons of test and quizes, almost one, twice a week. so b prepared! it's ur responsibility to study.he doesn't explain whole thing. but the TA us good :) well..i woldn't take his class again.
Basically your on your own in this class but the prof. gives alot of extra credit which makes it alot more easier to get an A if you ace all the extra credit. STUDY STUDY the outlines, & listen to the lecture and READ! Practicums are hard if you dont memorize. Use online models , YOUTUBE videos for cat dissection, take pics of models, use tutor& TA
Very good teacher: deff use books, practicums are ALL memorization and be SPECIFIC, he likes to be specific. He likes certain things and uses them several times throughout semester, learn them asap. Pay close attn to outline, but listen to lectures on BB. Use youtube and image searches for practicums. DO NOT MISS ANY CLASS, you will fall behind.
If I had a do over I definitely would not take him again! I was less than 1/2 pt. away from an A and he still would not give it to me. He makes mistakes on answer keys a lot & we get penalized even though it's his error. He is very flamboyant which made class a little bit interesting...
This is not a hard class to pass if you dedicate yourself to studying a bit each day. Focus on his class outline because this is where he gets almost ALL of his test quest. and listen to lectures on BB. I recommend Johnson for lab. It's strict memorization. Hampton offers a ton of extra credit, I went from a D to an A+, but then got lazy ended w/ A-
BOMB TEACHER! His tests and quizzes might be hard but they're all straight from the book, and I think he forces you to do a lot of studying because he's trying to prepare those that are going to the medical field which would require a lot more work and studying compared to the work and studying you do in his class.
RAD teacher! made anatomy totally easy to understand. all his lectures are pre recorded and they are the same exact thing that he says in class, so if something comes up and you cant make it to class, you will be fine. i never had to use the book, his syllabus outlines everything perfectly. he has a great sense of humor and keeps class interesting
hard class, but lectures are fun & not boring. lots of extra credit. definitely recomend.
Ok professor. He's very smart and his lecture can be pretty interesting for the most part. Not an easy A class. You got to work for the grade you want in his class. You must study!!! Hated his lab, I thougt he was a bit lazy during our lab. He gives A LOT of extra credit though.
Great at teaching and garnering interest in the subject. Arrogant/condescending attitude towards students.
Jubal is great! Clear and VERY helpful! Would definitely recommend him for the lab. I even wish he led the lectures too! Great Great Professor!!! :-D
he kept lecture very entertaining. I enjoyed his classes.funny how he uses examples that he used from like 4 years ago "not much has changed in anatomy"
This guy is an alien. DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS HERE. TAKE IT AT SCC. This guy is the worst teach I ever had. His test is all over the place and expects his students to KNOW literally everything. His powerpoints are useless. All of his test and quiz is set up for you to fail. I DO NOT RECOMMAND THIS GUY.
Professor Jubal does not understand or cares about what student thinks. He expect you to only focus on his class like you don't have any other class to take besides his. I was very skeptical about taking his class but despite what all of the other students complained about, I went for it. BIG mistake! I know the subject is difficult, but come on!
This class is not easy so you have to prioritize. I am a mother of 3 kids all under 10 and worked part time and earned an A+. I studied about 30 hours a week and used all of the tools on Blackboard, and then some. I listened to every audio lecture (spring AND Summer) in external links, plus went over all of his Powerpoint Slides and study links.
TOOK ANATOMY: HE OFFERS LOTS OF E.C. He's a really good teacher, git a B-had a 89%. it was my fault, i lagged. Take him and study, and you'll be fine :) p.s. there are no +/- grades (reference to below)
This is a hard class, Hampton gives a lot of extra credit and tries to make it easy. the study guide for the final was 70% of the test questions I got an A on the lecture final. He's nice and funny and a good teacher. Some of the students in the class have taken the class before; its hard. I passed the first time I took it I thank Mr. Hampton
Mr Hampton is a very nice man and a tough but fair teacher. You will want to study the lecture notes and powerpoints with great detail before each quiz and exam. Practicums (lab exams) You should bring a camera and take pictures of all the models so you can practice memorizing them at home. He gives extra credit which can bring your grade up.
Dr. Hampton is an excellent teacher. I loved going to his lectures because if you pay attention there are little stories pertaining to what you're learning and those stories definitely help!!! Listen to his lectures (in class and online -recorded ones), make notes, write your own questions and answers and you will get an A. Tough but great teacher
Professor Hampton expects you to know a lot of material, but this is anatomy, and if YOU don't expect that too, you shouldn't be here. He is very knowledgeable, clear and very funny. He offers A LOT of extra credit! If you can't get a solid grade with this much extra credit, seriously, don't go into medicine.
hard class, great and helpful teacher. i reccomend taking him + tons of extra credit
i would recommend taking professor hampton for anatomy. he is very helpful and his lectures are quite entertaining as well. the class pretty much consist of weekly lab quizzes, few lecture quizzes, lab practicums, and 2 exams plus lots of extra credit! study and learn everything on his lecture/lab online and you can get an A
Anatomy lecture tests are difficult. Try to get most of your pts through lab section which is mostly memorizing. Hampton as an instructor isn't very helpful or approachable. Youtube is more helpful than the instructor. Luckly I had a different instructor for lab which was helpful. Hampton tries to confuse you w/the wording on exams, beware.
DO NOT take Hampton. He's not helpful. Youtube will help you study. Listen to online lectures too. He needs to be replaced with an instructor who not only knows the subject but also has a passion for teaching. Hampton is arrogant and not a good example of SAC instructors.
He is an excellent teacher. Yes, the material is tough but he makes everything very interesting. I love his real life examples which helps me study and remember the material. He seems intimidating but he is definitely not intimidating. If you ask questions then he will definitely answer you in a proper way! DO TAKE HIM!!! He is one of the best!
Very helpful teacher,Yes this class is tough but if you are committed it would definetly be an easy A. LOts of memorisation so STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
Overall this class was a very interesting class. This is not an easy A you have to put the many hours into studying or you will quickly fall behind. Books are not mandatory although the lab guides are very helpful. Record his lectures and use bio study lab.
Class and lab are easy. each class meeting you take a quiz.just make sure to do good on all the quizzes because they are a huge part of your grade. For the lab practicums take pictures of all the models and memorize the labels and you'll do fine. he gives a study review questions for the final which helps a lot.
Professor Hampton is a well competent instructor. His class is not easy! any biology class are not, but the perks in having his class is that he gives out a lot of extra credit! I ended up receiving an A by the end of the semester by I busted my butt to get it. A little advice, study your material early on the semester, and check blackboard!
Took this class on Spring 2013 semester. Its a tough class, and professor Hampton is a tough instructor. But,he is an excellent and knowledgeable one.He makes the lecture very interesting, and he loves to tell funny stories so the class won't be boring. You just really have to study hard for this class and he gives a lot of extra credit.
He is very enthusiastic about Anatomy. Keeps my interest up. He is fair and I'm sure he wants students to successed
Great teacher loves to help those who need it. And clear on what he says in lecture and on his test.
1st of all, bio 239 is not a easy 1. If u r planning to take is easy u better find something else to do. Professor Hampton is an excellent professor with high skills of teaching. The mix between the lecture and his presentation from his experience as a pathologist makes the things easier. I will take if possible any other classes with him.
Professor Hampton is very generous with extra credit points but he is not approachable. He is stern and abrupt at times when asked questions. You will need to study plenty on your own as the tests cover a LOT of material.
Expects you to know everything because the tests covers lots of info which is in the lecture and some from the book. I have a hard time knowing what to study for. His quizzes are a bit tricky with wording. Not very organized and is all over the place, youll see it on the test too.
I sit in his lecure and listen but I feel that by me reading the book and going on youtube is teaching me more than what he is. I think because he has been teaching for so long that he gives out the information fast and then class is over. His tests are 15 questions each class and they seam tricky with how they are worded. I will be praying for a C
Very tuff class and tuff professor! Does not respond to your emails if he doesn't think they are important. Not approachable. Study everything and everyday if you are looking to get a good grade. Only good thing is he offers ALOT of extra credit but you have to work for it..
Professor very knowledgeable. He will answer questions if you ask. Class not structured. Study daily. 15 point quizzes are difficult if you don’t study. Lots to memorize. Don’t miss lectures or lab; questions will be on tests. Professor generous with extra credit but do not depend on it. You will learn and earn your grade.
Professor is fair, helpful, and educational. Do not take this class over the summer unless you have time! Class is hard! As long as you study his lecture and follow the lab guidelines its not that bad. Yes the extra credit is more than generous!! Good luck!!
gave a lot of opportunities to succeed.
He was enjoyable with his stories that illustrated points. He was helpful with his questions and answers. He threw a few curves but they make you think. His class was a hard but pleasant experience. Hi highly recommend him.
The class itself can be quite challenging with all the things you are suppose to learn in a short amount of time. However, I took this class over the summer, a six week course, and received an over 100 percent in the class with all of the extra credit offer, while working 12+hours a week. Prof. Hampton is a great professor. Highly recommend!!!
Textbook use is >5 - study & memorize - you'll be fine. I took Hampton's summer class - did great. His lectures are really good, he wrote an outline of what to study & a calendar of when to study what so - no excuses friends. Anatomy is über important!! Take Hampton! I wish he taught every class.
For a hard class to take during the summer he taught it very well. He has a class outline that he follows to the letter. Memorize it and you'll do fine on lecture exams. He is helpful in lab, especially if he sees you trying but he won't just give you answers. Honestly I wish he taught more classes I need to take. He's a funny guy too, it helps!
Took his class over the summer and although anatomy is a difficult subject, he did a great job covering and explaining everything. Not an easy A but definitely possible with all the generous extra credit given. Don't forget to study ahead of time!
The class alone was challenging especially during the summer. However, Jubal makes his class very enjoyable! He is an intriguing professor that cares for his students. The class will require tremendous amount of time to study, and review lectures ahead of time. Do this along with all his extra credit and you will succeed!! Jubal is awesome!:)
Hampton's great.. He has a lot of experience teaching, and in life; he attended actual M school, and has engaging, relevant tales from the morgue.. Take his class!!
I was hesitant taking this course over the summer but I'm glad I did. I've heard mixed reviews about Hampton but I can only say good things about him. He cares about his students and their success in the class and in the future. Exams & quizzes are based of lecture/powerpoint that he provides. Studying is key, especially in groups. Ask questions!
This class is hard, demanding and fast paced. It is by no means a walk in the park but it is not impossible to do well. The professor is demanding but he is fair, funny and very helpful. You get the grade you earn with the work you put in. It can be stressful but I loved the class and highly recommend it.
Awesome instructor! study and you will do fine
I loved his teaching style, very clear , very organized, lectures is fun, professor is charming! To succeed you need to study a lot , just because anatomy demands a lot of memorization. I would advise to print power points professor provides on the blackboard, learn all labs, don't miss lectures and labs , use extra credits and you will be fine.
Honestly this professor is tough but he is incredibly helpful, he is always there for students when they have questions, he is very clear during lecture and won't hesitate to explain into more detail. His class is really fun and entertaining he uses stories to keep students interested and to make comparisons with what he is sometimes teaching.
He's awesome and I would take him again. The class is evenly-loaded & there is still a ton of stuff to memorize. The whiteboard will be your new BFF. Create a study group early. He offers EC but do not rely on it.
Professor Hampton is an amazing professor. He really makes you earn your grade. He wants you to succeed and there is a lot of studying involved. If you want a classs that will make you think and make you feel great when you pass take this one. He is always willing to help and he'll help you to succeed. Deffinitely reccomend.
Professor Hampton is amazing. Record his lectures! Textbook used to supplement but didnt use very much. He always told great stories and truly wants his class to succeed. I took this during the summer and it was fast paced. He gives EC. He gives you everything to get your A. You have to earn it. Would take him again.
EXCELLENT professor. Wished I had him as my lab instructor. Ended up in a different section. Work hard & stay focused during lecture and you'll do well. Wish more professors were like him. His passion for Anatomy is contagious. Always looked forward to lecture because he made it fun. Want a fun summer? Take this class. Not kidding. I had a blast!!!
I highly recommend this class! He's very clear on what he wants and expects. Lectures are somewhat long, but it goes by quickly because he tells a lot of funny stories. He gives a lot of extra credit, but if you want to get an A in the class, you do need to work for it and study a lot
I took his class over the summer and after the first week I felt like dropping the class but i didn't and I am thankful that I stuck through with the class. Exam and quiz every week and there is a lot of extra credit I recommend to do all. It helped me and I I got an A. A lot of studying and sacrifice on your part to make sure you pass the class.
Professor Hampton is super funny and makes his lectures enjoyable. I took this class over the summer and the material is compacted over 6 weeks compared to 18. There was an in class exam and practicumlab quiz every week. Make sure to do all the EC. Study guide provided was helpful (green packet). Make sure to use links in Course announcement tab.
Took him over the summer so we went over the material really fast. He does give a lot of extra credit so that really helps. Be sure to study early and review old material. He likes to ask histology questions on the tests. Also, you do have to use the textbook but he says that an older version will do.
Absolutely take Anatomy in the summer! You will feel intimidated at first, but he really does everything you can to help you succeed. I am talking about being very, very generous with the EC. He is hilarious & frequently had the class cracking up during lecture w stories & little anecdotes. Always helpful in lab. Just study the syllabus!
Rules, grading procedures, information to be tested on was all very clear. Anatomy is a lot to remember, but if you spend the time, it is all fine.
Best biology teachers that I have taken. He is very clear on what he expects of his students. He will tell you what you will need to know on his exams. His lectures are very clear and easy to follow. Most of his exam questions are based off his lecture, so if you attend to his lectures and study then you will be fine. Take him! You won't regret it!
It was my 1st experience being in a lab setting, let alone around a microscope. My first day of lab I was terrified, I looked around and felt like I was the only kid that was lost. Lab ended so I told Dr Hampton that I wanted to drop the class but he convinced me not to. He encouraged me not to give up! Thanks to him I succeeded and got an A :)
Excellent teacher. When i took him i felt that if he thinks your trying really hard, he will try to pass you.
Professor Hampton is an amazing person and professor! Anatomy is a tough subject, but he gives a lot of opportunities for you to succeed. He gives a ton of extra credit, but be warned; the exams and practicals are still difficult. You need to work for your grade. He is kind and inspirational! I wish he taught Physiology!
Very funny lecturer! To do well, buy the $7 Class Studyguide / green syllabus from the book store. Then buy a USED anatomy textbook from eBay or Amazon. Don't spend $200 on new versions, because they're all the same. Then read the text ONLY on topics covered in the syllabus. Study in small chunks, 1-2 pg of the syllabus/day, instead of cramming
Uses power point, but its his stories which make the material stick. Vast amount of knowledge. I took the cadaver lab and learned so much, first hand. Amazing class.
Professor Hampton is tough (like most anatomy teachers), but definitely fair. You have to go to lecture and read the textbook, and the anatomy lab is pretty much independent work-study time. As long as you are willing to put in the hours, you can absolutely succeed in his class. You will learn a lot and he gives plenty of extra credit.
Not much instruction. You're on your own and expected to just know. Much wasted time trying to figure out wtf im supposed to be studying. Overwhelming.
I passed this class but not only that I just want to assure incoming students that you'll have an awesome time if you study hard with help of amazing professor his clear and lectures are awesome and exams are mostly relate with lectures
I am very good student and I can't pass his class for anything. You teach yourself 100% of the class. Nothing he lectures on is ever on the quizzes. The practicums are big jokes because he never speaks during labs. He doesn't grade on anything expect on quizzes/midterm/final. Having to take for a 3rd time at a different college.
Prof. Hampton's quizzes/exams are based on lectures so do Listen closely and read as much as possible from the books. He's straightforward with everything and encourages you to do well. In the lab, he lets you free so take advantage and asks questions on what you don't understand. Hard work does pay off plus you will learn how to study.
I received an A in this class. I didn't enjoy this course as many others had mentioned. I felt the lectures were years behind current anatomy courses. Many students in the course struggled, but I felt this was due to lack of work put into the course. If you listen, come prepared, and study his EXACT syllabus, you are guaranteed an A in the course.
I love professor Hampton! he can be intimidating, but what do you expect? it is biology! I wanted to drop the class, but I found a great study group, and as time passed Hampton grew on me! he offers plenty of extra credit, which should motivate you to learn the material! what else can you ask for? seriously if you aren't serious dont even try!
Great teacher! He does give extra credit and I strongly suggest buying the lecture book for his class rather than the anatomy book. RECORD HIS LECTURES from day 1 he gets straight into it. Listen to recordings and redo your note, it made my life so much easier and in the back of the lecture book is a guide to study for lab practicums :)
At first you might be intimidated. After the first practical i went home and cried because I did terrible. I then worked my butt of studying aced everything. He's funny, amazing and the best teacher I ever had. I wish he teached every science class. Please take him, it's a great experience. Remember your grade isn't given but earned. He's the best
Professor Hampton was a great teacher with great knowledge of the subject. He challenges your understanding of the subject at every turn; his questions on exams are difficult and there is a lot of material to memorize. This is NOT an easy class, but with hard work and constant studying, he makes it very possible to get that all important A.
He's a DIVA especially if your class is in AM! Lecture outline is a good purchase, not the book, get it on openstax free. He will give you so many unecessary papers, mostly diagrams but they are so old and blurry that they don't help. Just stick to online labeled images, quizlet, or draw. Take pictures in lab. He gives ALOT of extra credit!
record the lectures! buy study guide. class has 5 books, you can save by only buying the study guide and just using quizlet. i studied these peoples notes and got an A lorenahdz Montserrat_Russell and Alexandra_Magallon4. you basically teach yourself 100% of the class. imo this class is hard, but A is obtainable. teacher is awesome and funny
To be honest Anatomy was hard on me and I almost gave up. However, Hampton lectures and lab I understood his way of teaching and i enjoyed Anatomy so much. All I can say is study hard for this course because nursing program will make sense! Do not overload classes and work while taking Anatomy unless your a genius. ;)
This class was one of the most intense things i have done, but Prof. Hampton is a great educator and he really explains what he is trying to teach you. Honestly no matter what teacher you have this class is 100% tough, if you dont put in the effort you will not pass. You just really have to apply yourself and study study study!!! extra credit too!
Hes tough and you need to study every day. Cramming wont work. Lots of extra credit given during the semester
Anatomy was my first introduction into the medical path and Professor Hampton made it an incredibly welcoming experience. Not only were his lectures easy to follow and quite funny, but as a person, Jubal was genuine, and truly cared about student success. I could not ask for a better anatomy experience! Highly recommended!
Took him last semester. He was tough at the beginning cuz he wants you to study. However, keep talking to him, asking him questions; he's very helpful and supported. You learn mostly by yourself. Focus on his lecture, what he likes will be on the exam. 1st practicum is the hardest one, I failed ... But extra credits brought my grade up.
Taking Hampton for Bio 239 lab he is easy going but wants you to learn. His practicals are basically what you have on his handouts no added material. He doesnt lecture but lets you work and label in class.
Is a good professor when he goes over his own made PowerPoint but not from the textbook. Is new to online but gives extra credit. Has a study guide and syllabus that helps when you study. A lot of time into studying for lectures and practicals. Interesting practicals and I like using the models he provides. Can't slack off and put in the work.
Professor Hampton is okay. If you want to learn, he isnt the one. You mostly have to teach yourself in his class. But in lab if you have questions, he answers them. But mostly I learned off of YouTube videos. You have to spend LOTS of time studying in order to get a good grade. P.S. extra credit does help however keep studying!
He doesn't read questions in the chat and mutes all attendees in the lecture. During lecture he basically just reads off the powerpoint. His online tests often contain errors, duplicate answers (that's right, duplicates), and misspelled answers. I had to retake the class because I was close to failing, and I can notice the difference between profs
Tough question on exams and quizes. however he does offer enough extra credit. Study the lab and lecture outlines well. For the in person practicums study the words only on the lab outline, He will only test you on those items. If you put the effort in studying, you will be okay.
Jubal Hampton was simply mediocre. He would read off the powerpoints for lectures and didn't thoroughly answer questions. He canceled over half of his zoom lectures. In-person lab with professor Louis Dibernardo was worthless. You would show up and he would play classical music and never speak to you again while you studied on your own.
LAZY. Currently taking him, its week 5 and all he's done is give us a list of tissue and bones names to memorize, mix and match on the atlas, and hope it registers in our domes. 3 hrs of lab and he only talks for 5 min, doesn't teach anything. 5 pgs long of vocab for a 15 question/point quiz, all that time spent to earn so little points.
DONT LISTEN TO THE GOOD REVIEWS! I did that & regretted it. He isn’t 4 student success. Disorganized on canvas, calendar has wrong info and when you ask him for clarification he gets mad and tells us to study everything for quizzes/exams. In lab, he isn’t helpful and plays music and is an amazon. Dont waste your time and money, take elsewhere.
Nursing student here. Was in his spring 2022 class, it's spring break and I am dropping the course. This professor is all over the place and has an attitude when you ask clarification on tests. His teaching is awful. To my fellow students reading this, DONT take anatomy with this guy. Take it elsewhere, I am going to Saddleback for this class.
Worst professor ever. He is rude and condescending, he forgets that we are students trying to learn. I dropped the course, his tests are all over the place. Teaching is an art that he cannot do! Don't waste your time and money, take Anatomy with someone else.
The reviews make it seem like you're doomed but you'll be fine if you study right. Go based off his zoom lectures that he posts online. In-person lectures miss details that'll be on quizzes and exams. Study only what's on the lecture and lab outlines. Readings were not necessary. GO TO CLASS. He gives E.C. towards the end when less people come.
I consider myself a good student with good study skills. But this class was horrible. The professor is all over the place. Lectures suck and lab was beyond infuriating. We literally teach ourselves while he plays classical music. I took this class with Prof. Sandra Sanchez at SCC, go there! You'll learn in lecture and lab, she cares about teaching.
Just finished with summer session Anatomy. Worst mistake ever. People dropped like flies after the first lecture test and practicum. I thought the practicums were hard because he doest not teach you the features of bones, you kind of have to find them on your own. And yes, classical music is played in the background while he is on amazon shopping.
Don't listen to the good reviews..... take with someone else. Save yourself the headache and time!! I am a teacher with a masters leaving education and going into nursing/healthcare, and as a former teacher, he is an awful teacher in lecture and lab.
He is not a good professor for lab, make sure to take Nair instead. He offers retakes on exams. Hampton is a really tough grader. It's his way or no way and you can't be too specific or not specific enough, which makes no sense. your grade could be determined by the way he feels on a specific day.
Professor Hampton has a unique teaching style, but if you engage with it, you can succeed. The lectures are helpful, and using Unstuck study alongside the course material saved me time studying. Overall, a challenging but rewarding experience.
If you weren't religious before, you might start praying now. His lectures are rough—especially if you have ADHD or struggle to focus. He rambles a lot and goes off topic, making it hard to follow. The Canvas setup is super outdated and messy. Expect weekly exams in both lecture and lab. The "extra credit" is just bonus questions on tests.
I enjoyed Professor Hampton's class. This course is very time-consuming and requires many hours of studying at home. Professor Hampton gave so much extra credit that single-handedly carried me through this course. He may seem grumpy, but he's very nice. If you put in the extra effort, you will pass! I suggest forming your own opinions in this class!
lectures but talks a lot of disown experiences, difficult to understand at times. His way or the high way.
Professor Hampton is very straightforward. He tells you from the beginning if you have responsibilities (kids) and a full time job this class will be difficult because of the amount of time that you need to study for his exams . So be ready to study study study he has his way of teaching and even his test. He gives a-lot of extra credit on exams.
Took this as a 6-week class, he taught with recycled powerpoints and gave a test every week. His course calendar and guidelines were outdated, so if you prepped for a lecture, theres a chance he wont go over it. He has a few random and ambiguous questions on tests yet gives a lot of extra credit questions which makes up for it. Must teach yourself!
I would definitely NOT recommend Hampton. He is very intimidating and is not nice to students when asked a question. His lectures are very old which does not help at all to study. He tells you to review the Covid lecture slides which is not professional at all given that we are in 2025. I would not recommend him at all.
This course is very time consuming, but if you study and put in the effort, it pays off because he offers a lot of extra credit on WEEKLY quizzes and tests. Canvas is so outdated and be prepared to reteach yourself everything. Overall, he may seem mean at first, but he's actually super nice.
Professor Hampton is a very knowledgeable person. He has his own outline for his class it's straightforward buy it or print it out. He uses that guideline as a study guide for quizzes and exams. You must study. He gives a lot of extra credit points in lecture. If you put in the work and study time you WILL SUCCEED!
