Very nice man. Class was way too difficult for what was expected. Only 2 tests which were both very challenging. 15 point curve on the final test if that gives you any idea of just how hard it was...
class is super easy and professor is awesome! He is extremely nice! i would definitely recommend this professor! :)
He's a very nice professor. we had two tests, 2 group projects, two cases. Group projects and cases are basically free points, but you have to study for the tests. I'd recommend him.
He is an extremely nice guy, cares a lot about his students. When you ask him a question, he will go over and beyond to make sure you understand him. Yes the 2 tests are challenging but he provides you with all the material to study and prepare for it. I would strongly recommend him.
Very nice guy. But the tests are very hard. I studied my butt off for them and couldnt make above a C. However the 2 group projects are easy. You will most likely need help for Excel & Access assignments. Lecture is pretty boring and 10% of final grade is for attendance. I'm not interested at all in MIS, but it was an okay class.
SAP assignments were pretty easy however the two tests were extremely hard! Professor is extremely nice. Hopefully he'll curve our grades!
MIS is my major & this was my first MIS class. Here it is: the professor is a very nice person & helpful. SAP assignments: easy. In order to make an A on excel & access go to the TA labs...very helpful. Tests: well you basically have to study hard for them.
JUDD.IS.AMAZING. While the concepts are a bit dry, he does a great job of explaining them in detail and how they relate to the real world. The cases/presentations are easy 100s. As for the tests, the only thing that makes them challenging is that there are only two, so each covers a substantial amount. But no surprise Qs - he reviews thoroughly.
MIS6309 is an O/L class that required installing SAP with BEx Analyzer. During the first week of class, there were close to 100 discussion board postings from students regarding issues with installation, etc. No real help from prof resolving issues. Other students tried to solve the problems, but we were still dead in the water. Dropped the class.
he is good. but copies EVERYTHING from the text book.
Good professor, lectures are too long. does not give a break.Work hard for exams
Judd.is.Average and at best. Just a really annoying prof i know im in the minority but i give credit where credit is due and im not giving squat to this guy. he makes constant errors and does not admit to them.
Nice guy. Assignments are easy A's but the tests are very hard. Test reviews aren't helpful. Read the book don't rely on his reviews.
He is a horrible teacher. Doesnt teach well, make mistakes during our class and blamed the students for his mistakes. extremely unreasonable, doesnt prepare as well for the exams compared to other professors (based on reviews, tutor sessions, and overall test scores) avoid him at ALL COST if you care for your grade.
Lectures are word for word from textbook provided material. Tests have an over reliance on trick questions that test how well you memorized as opposed to actual understanding. Would not recommend.
He is too over-rated. Thought of taking BDW too under him. But the subject itself is worse than ERP. Avoid at all costs.
This professor is super boring. He just go through powerpoint slides that has information from the textbook in an extremely boring way. Test is super hard and you need to read every page of the book. NOT RECOMMENDED.
He's very boring to follow in class. He is also very sneaky. He did not require attendance for the class, but made a pop quiz and that counts for 3.5% of the final grade, which was not mentioned in the syllabus. Reviews for tests are not helpful at all. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
One useless professor. No sense about how to talk to students. Gets angry on pity things. Will hold grudges. Basically very immature and useless prof.
Horrible. Pretty useless and condescending. Pawns everything off to TAs who have the misfortune of being his TAs. Get this guy out of UTD
worst professor i've ever taken a class under. Everything about him is wrong and annoying.
One of the most arrogant and annoying professors I have ever come across. There is no clarity in his teaching. All useless assignments which keeps you busy all the time. His exams are very hard. He always troubles the students. Holds grudges. Suggesting not to take any course under him. Many students feel the same!
I found the class interesting as well as the surprise quiz helpful. This makes to study before coming to the class. Make you aware of the subject. Nice class to take if you want to really learn. Do the assignment with all your understanding, do not just follow the step without any clarity. Go through the book, slides, and then do the assignment.
He is one of the worst professors I have ever met, this guy is stubborn and is not really approachable outside the class. His tests are confusing and gets angry on small things and also hold grudges. " NOT RECOMMENDED AT ANY COST"
Took his summer class after hearing a lot of bad things from previous batch but fortunately most of it was not true. Very friendly approach while teaching and encourages to ask questions. Gives lot of his real world examples. Can get a bit stingy in some cases but that's acceptable.
Great teacher
Almost scared off by some of the other reviews, but very glad I didn't. Super friendly and very willing to engage the class in discussing real-world applications of material. Tests are generally hard but fair; quizzes are a bit scattershot in terms of difficulty but follow the lectures closely. Curves VERY generously. Strongly recommend.
Wont recomend to take his class
Rude and arrogant person I have ever met. He is very immature holding grudges. Will never recommend this class under this professor at any cost
Most arrogant professor I ever encountered in my life. Has no manners on how to speak with students, checks laptops and other personal mail boxes for some silly reasons. Very mean professor. Teaches bad.
Please don't take into consideration the hate ratings written below , i personally had an argument with him and he was very well mannered and very supportive , he did not hold any grudges on me , I even took up another course offered by him . be regular to classes ,be attentive , read regularly and an easy A . he is vry encouraging and supportive.
Lectures were bad,he is fussy on petty issues that does not make sense, students make mistakes sometimes ,he will forgive and give favors to girls but same will be denied male students,it has occured many time
He seems to understand business principles well, but is very shaky on technical issues. He would be a great professor for regular business courses, but not very good for IT courses. Assignments were graded easy, but tests were long and required a lot of memorization. He does seem to be extremely petty on trivial issues, just read his syllabus.
He tries his best to clear the confusion. but he is very rigid on trivial issues and not flexible at all, breaks his own commitments. Tests are waste of time, just memorize no logic at all so you wont be able to learn anything from it
Syllabus don't seem to have any clear direction. The professor gets irritated by weird issues I haven't encountered with any other professor at JSOM like talking in class! or students settling down. Lectures are not engaging & his attempt at "jokes" isn't funny at all!! The only reason most people attend is because he takes pop quizzes.
Seems somebody is on roll. I see many comments with same keywords "rude arrogant". This is not true. He is a calm person, tries to answer every question and his lectures are also engaging. I would strongly suggest to attend his lectures.
Fairly unclear professor. Did not follow the syllabus and would occasionally deviate it to discuss about something else. Seemed to be indecisive about his decisions, leading to confusion among students as his democracy style teaching didn't translate too well. Tests were difficult, but you get a cheat sheet and he curves nicely. Group project also.
The assignments for this class are extremely frustrating. It's as if someone from China wrote these instructions. Bad grammar and unclear in the assignments. Takes forever to respond to any emails. This is one of the most frustrating classes I have ever had in college. On top of that, you have to use Windows for this course. It's 2016, seriously?
Tough grader and u will have a hard time in the class with the quizzes
Data warehousing concepts. Lots of assignments. Tough Exams.
Bradbury is unclear in his lectures and randomly talks about different topics that don't pertain to class. Make sure to get in a good group to work with. You need to read the book, otherwise the quizzes will be difficult. I took this class for an ITSS elective, but if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't take Bradbury again.
A very fine Professor and an expert in his area. Every week assignment but if you follow instructions you will do just fine. You have to work hard to get an A but it would be worth it. Expect pop up quizzes and read before every class. I would take this professor again if given a chance.
Solid knowledge . Weekly assignments . Teach you many tools . Take it if you are interested in SAP domain .
Online classes are easy compared to classes. However, the downside is that online class content is not updated till date.
weekly assignments, three group projects, alternate week quizzes attendance is mandatory, as quizzes are worth 40%.
Entire class test avg was in the 50s.. Worst professor I've had for both MBA/CS. It's just about using SAP and other software. Each week a 30+ page instructions for completing assignments in SAP and there are tons of typos and tech errors - 100's of student messages in the forum with problems! Lectures are so bad, had to watch at 1.5X speed
Amazing professor and a very interesting course. Makes you work for the grade as he works doubly hard with the material and explanation. Exams are pretty challenging but he curves. Miss the class and you screw your grades. Every week assignment and pop quizzes every alternate week. But in the end everything is worth it if you are there to study.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR EVER IN UTD! PLS HELP YOURSELF IF U CHOOSE HIM.
Worst professor of UTD. Very arrogant and almost harassed my friend when she swapped the class from morning to evening during which she has to miss the class policy test which is marked towards your final grading. She has to beg infront of him to get the approval for class.
He is a good professor with good manners. But this subject is really difficult and it needs a lot of time to deal with assignment.
Online lectures are MINDNUMBINGLY BORING with him describing EVERY BUTTON OF A SOFTWARE in a monotone voice! Weekly hw is painful to do because his instructions, which he claims are perfect & error-free, are super hard to follow and waste a lot of unnecessary time. They're also useless because we're too busy following steps to think/learn anything.
I've taken BDW and Data Viz. One of those professors who will make you work for it. Will you sometimes hate yourself for taking this class?- maybe. But in retrospect I'd retake his classes in a heartbeat. The only gripe- he will sometimes come across being unreasonable in understanding personal situations. All in all, go for it, you'll be glad.
I cannot stress how terrible this professor is... I took 2 online courses by him just because I couldn't find any other online options. I have learned very little considering the amount of time I put into his lengthy homework (5 hours/week of debugging his instructions). I did pass with A's but felt miserable throughout the courses. Please beware.
He knows his subject but expects a lot of work from his class. The class is tools focused - you get hands-on on a lot of them. Assignments every week but step by step you follow the instructions and so not a lot of self-learning. Teaches the concepts well in the class though. Mostly SAP tools are used.
3 complaints: ungodly amount of work, dry lectures, and unsympathetic. Work is weekly 20-page busy-work hws, pop quizes, tests with averages (on a good test) in 60s, assigned readings & videos, and a group project where you have to pay $50 to do ad work for a company. He has unrealistic expectations and is unsympathetic when you don't meet them.
He give alots of HW with 20 page of instruction just for 4-5 screenshot. Teaching technic are not the best. sometime he starts talking randomly. Tests are hard but he curves alot. Reviews are useless. You will have do alot reading and watch videos to pass this class with A.
I took this class in summer as an online course. I can't comment on the professor's nature. The lectures were too slow and boring. There are assignments every week, which don't apply concepts and require you to read 50 pages of instructions and follow it to the T. The exams don't test you on any concepts but require you to memorize pointlessly.
Won't learn much of Tableau or any viz tool. Assignments take hours, some are just copying pages of code he screenshots then taking a screenshot of what it does. Instructions are full of errors, I spent hours troubleshooting. Tests are extremely heavy on readings. Readings are horribly boring and long. He curves exams well but avgs are low to start
For the love of God, DO NOT TAKE THIS professor! There are weekly assignments that take an average of 10 hours each to complete. Many of his assignments are nearly impossible to complete or receive a good grade without going to an additional "lab". Exams are designed for you to fail and the prof intentionally designs the exams for you to fail them.
He expects way too much from the students. He assigns +10 hours of assignments along with +10 hours of reading each week. If you don't go to the "optional" lab then you probably can't do the assignment. I love data visualization, but he made me hate it. He knows what he is talking about, but that doesn't make him a great professor.
I still do not know what data visualization is even after taking his class and getting an A in his class. All he teaches in class is how to analyse a visualization and not HOW TO MAKE A VISUALIZATION. The guy is good at talking but has zero knowledge of data viz. He fools student by talking like he has lot of knowledge which he doesn't.
Extremely difficult exams. Every week assignment which is due on Friday. Assignments are 10+ pages with a lot of instructions. Every assignment requires 12-15 hours to complete. Lectures are very boring, involving vague discussions, mostly about analyzing the visualizations rather than creating any. I do not recommend this professor for Data Viz.
Worst professor ever. For the amount of money I paid for this graduate course, I expect UTD to provide better quality professors. Arrogant and self-centered. Should be fired or at least let go.
tests are hard and difficult to prepare for. Much time reqd as the readings are extremely long and the lectures are on avg 2 hours. On top of this there are weekly assignments that take a couple of hours , and that's if ur code is bug free. Material for the class jumps to different subject every week so won't learn much beyond high lvl knowlededge
Utter nonsense is the perfect description of this class. The professor will make you follow a series of screenshots to take another 100 screenshots in the name of the assignment. My 15-year-old cousin qualifies to be graded 100% because he too knows English, computer and how to take a screenshot. He'll give you 2000 pages to read and ask irrelevant
I like this professor's lecture never skipped his classes.
Gives lots of useless things to read and remember. If you are not good at remembering you wont pass the exam. The TA he selects are not good. If you take any subject under him you will lose marks and grade for no reason.
Extremely long 10+ hr assignments on weekly basis, many you will need to painstakingly troubleshoot even with no experience in the code used. Exams are getting good curves, but you will score low to start. Random quizzes announced 2 days before deadline. Some weeks you are assigned a whole book to read along with the 2 hr lecture.
Professor does not have any interest in the course. He reads from borrowed slides. Homeworks are of no use, they are a test for your typing and copy paste skills. Exams are more of a grammar test than a knowledge test. He will ask stupid questions and your expertise in the subject does not matter. You won't learn anything, you wont get good grade.
The homework is based on the execution of given steps and pasting screenshots. However, he does try to teach as much as he can. He takes feedback seriously and tries to roll it in as you. The tests are heavily curved and there are some pop-quizzes. Might not be one of the best professors I've ever taken but is certainly the most sincere.
He makes an easy class hard for no reason. Makes class so stressful. He is sneaky. Exams are ruthlessly hard. Take an easy class instead of this.
To be honest, the overall course is useless. The professor thinks that his lectures are very useful, but the reality is they are irrelevant. He acts very strict for no reason. All he does in class is crack lame jokes and spends hours on one ppt. Exams are the worst. The questions makes no sense AT ALL. Please do not waste your money on this course.
Don't worry. You will not fail. You will not get an A for this class. 70 to 75 questions. 1 hour 30 minutes. Includes reading textbooks and Power points. worst exam questions ever. Very nit-picky Assignments2-3 hours. I want to prove everyone wrong here. I regret my decision. IF you study really hard, you will get A. Or else good luck!
Do not take any course with this Professor under any circumstances. His lectures are extremely boring and he just reads off the slides. His assignments are just following instructions and copy pasting screenshots which are meaningless. Exams consist of really unrelated questions and youll have about 250-350 slides to prepare which wont be helpful
This teacher is truly trying to be a good person, but his teacher ability is lacking. He reads from the PowerPoint and assigns extremely long readings + 3+ homework assignments each week. Even more unfortunate, the homework assignments have not been updated in so long, so you will run into situations where the guidelines are not helpful. Stay away!
SU21: There were 13 assignments, about one a week. 2 exams both of which had terrible class averages (failing) with 30 point curves. Textbook was assigned as study material, but I didn't use it. The assignments took at least 2 hours each, cover various data analytics programs, and are accompanied with instructions and weekly lectures that help alot
DO NOT GO for this professor at ALL! 13 Assignments with just steps and screenshots. The assignments were created in 2017 with lots of mistakes and are being followed to this date without any update. He converts text to speech from his slides. This subject has so much to offer and he had made this subject a pure amalgam of tools. A BIG NO!
While the assignments were heavy and required multiple hours per week, the material itself was fantastic and actually helped understand the material better. If you are willing to work hard and thus end up gaining valuable knowledge about data visualization, this is the class for you.
This class was a waste of time feels like work than learning 13HW 30+ steps each HW stepbystep Exam 75Q 2hr cannot go backward during the exam Midterm and final class avg was 40-50 with 32pt & 30pt curve respectively. Rather than testing us over outdated lectures. the exams seem like it was meant to fail us so he curve up to make it look good.
I can see why Prof. Judd has a lot of bad reviews. The exams are very theoretical and require a lot of studying but I would rate the professor as excellent. I say this because the theoretical studying is what has made my foundation in Data Viz as strong as it is today. I would definitely say that he is the best professor out there for this subject.
Dr.Bradbury was one of my favorite professors for Data Visualization. His lectures were very entertaining and he made sure to help you as much as possible. His curves are very generous but his exams are rather difficult. If you want to learn a lot about data visualizations, please take him! You will not be disappointed whatsoever. Just work hard!
I took Dr.Bradbury for Data Visualization as well in Fall 2022. He is such am amazing professor and makes sure that you understand all the content that is addressed in the class. Make sure that you study hard for the exams and do the additional readings that are in the syllabus. They determine if you pass the exam or fail it miserably.
An assignment every week that he provides steps for. Takes 1-3 hours and is an easy grade. Exams are extremely difficult but only need to study the day before to make a good grade AFTER the curve. Easiest & hardest class I took. Learned nothing but got an A.
This class will be a breeze if you just do the assingments weekly but the instructions are outdated. He does provide a q&a for any hw help. The hw can also take 1-5 hours. Exams are curved generously. This is my 2nd time taking this course so I would reccomend.
Assignments have to be carefully done. clear on lectures with unbiased grading. Exams are little tough but he curves well. Although attendance is not mandatory but if the class strength is low, he might take a sudden pop quiz to benefit the students who showed up that day. Overall a good experience, would recommend to take his class.
13 Assignments, little to no help at all since it's in the syllabus to not help with HW. Worst TA experience I've ever had. Slow responses to questions, not very accessible. The class didn't teach me any useful skills. THE WORST experience I've had both undergrad and grad school-wise. The professor seems nice but I truly disliked this class
Honest Review: -Attendance is not compulsory compulsory but he takes random quizzes at the start of the class in between semesters to keep a check - Only explains theory in class - practical knowledge is given through assignments which have step by step instructions to follow Didn't like the class at all.
This class is the type of class where you ask yourself at the end of the semester what did I learn? And your answer will probably be nothing. The professor is a great person, but with all due respect, I learned nothing. (I attended every class btw even though attendance is not mandatory and doesn't affect your total grade)
Never in my life have I left a review this will be my first so that just goes to show how passionate I feel about him, he is the worst professor I have ever taken. Lack of direction, lack of empathy. Course evaluations apparently matter so much for our grade, but he will only mention it in the first class, AKA syllabus day. WORST PROFESSOR AT UTD.
absorbed nothing, but Tableau was fun to use. Assignments are easy to get a 100 on, just don't do them the night it's due. tbh the TA was super kind and forgiving, so it helped a lot when the prof was mean T_T. the exams are horrible and have nothing to do with what you 'learned' or the assignments, but 30 pt curves take you from failing to an A.
Class takes time to get used to since his syllabus can come off as rigorous. However, if you study and go to the lab for help on assignments it not as bad as it seems. He curves exams very generously, so as long as you study you will pass. He does not officially take attendance, but gives pop-quizzes when turn out is low.
This guy is absolutely horrible at his job, he intentionally tries to fail his students. The homework takes a minimum of 4-5 hours to do, and doesn't reply to any criticism or requests from any of his students. The exams are like a slap in the face from him just to make your life extra hard. He's lucky that the review is only 350 characters.
I almost ruined my future because I chose his class. His homework was a lot and difficult. He enjoyed playing tricks on you. You basically won't use the exams you take in your job. He just wanted you to get a low score so that you can beg him.
The classes are fun and interactive; take only if you are really interested in understanding how tableau and other viz tools work. If you're looking to just earn a credit by doing any course, go for a different thing. Without the intent you cannot put in the efforts required to complete his course
Professor Bradbury is a decent guy, its the subject of big data that's difficult. Lecture slides are +100 and you're expected to have it memorized for pop quizzes and exams. I liked how he rewarded those with perfect attendance extra credit and walked us through how to do the first few homework. Quizzes and exams, no. At least give us open note
HDFS and Spark are somewhat hard conceptually but if you listen during lecture or ask questions he's pretty patient and helpful. Assignments are almost too easy and require little effort. Exams are insane but he curves by around 30-40 points so if you get like a 50-60 (which is not hard with normal amount of study) you will get 100.
Do not take his class at all cost
The professor grades the course evaluation which is unfair since not everyone is willing to fill the evaluation. Course evaluation should not be graded. The professor is not Lenient enough and tough in grading
HW every week based on the lecture. Exams are tough, but they have a huge curve. If you show up, do the HW, you will be more than fine.
