Hard subject, but you have a chance at a decent grade with this professor. He's young, goes slow, really seems to care if your getting it or not. Great website that the other professors don't offer

This is an Excellent teacher, Really caring, Nice, And he makes the cource interesting. On the other hand as far as his class is set up, not the best their is about 3 exams and 3 Map Quiz's. So if you do bad on one exam your not going to get higher than a "B" But i recommend the course.

His labs are long for the first half of the semester, but he walks you through it. Class is very interesting and not boring, but you really need to take geog 120 to understand what is going on in his lab, Suggest that you take the lab while you are taking Geog 120 in the same semester. Test are open book and notes.

Well, it wasn't eeeeasy but it was very worth it. I'm not a science person yet he got me interested in learning more. He will do anythng for his students. What a great professor!

oh judd, well i can say that this was not an easy class! i usually do well in science related classes and this one was hard. his study guide is only somewhat accurate dont goff off on his tests they are worth alot of pts. i bought the book and i have only cracked it once his notes are all you need and show up for class.

Judd is cool. The labs are long but he will help you through them if you just ask. Very helpful. Take very good notes, open book for two tests, and he uses everything on the tests. He is a really nice guy but grades papers and tests very maticulously.

It's a hard class but if you have to take it then take it with Judd Curran. He's a good teacher and make the materials very intresting. He's very helpful and always there to help out if you need help. I have taken this class before with another professor but I couldn't pass it and now I have a b with Judd. I do recommend him.

Judd is funny and it makes the class more interesting and paying attention a little easier. This is not an easy class by any means, but Judd is always there to help and his website is really designed to give you all the extra help possible. This professor was my favorite at Grossmont. I transfered to SFSTATE and now I actually know about geography. He taught so well and made you really love the subject. I didnt really do the labs so I got a low grade but I did understand what he was teaching and got good grades on test. Just talk to him after class if you dont get it. He's hot too.

Curran is an excellent teacher who cares about his students' success. He is very clear, helpful, and fun in his lectures. He also provides an excellent website with links for further study of the lecture topics, review questions, and study guides. I only wish I could take one of his classes again!

This can be a difficult subject, but the way Judd taught made things easier to understand. He's always willing to help students no matter what. If you want to take Geography, take him! He's one of the best teachers I've ever had.

This class was pretty difficult for me because his whole class grades are based on tests and quizzes, something i am horrible at. he teaches good, but it is ALL lecture which can get pretty boring. i learned a lot but expect to study at least 2 hours a night if you want to understand this stuff!!

The class is straight forward and useful. Judd covered theory and practical application. There are either tests or assignments due almost every class until the project. The tests are from the lectures and readings, but picky. The project was very applicable, and relevant. If you attend, pay attention and complete assignments, you should do well.

omg, whatever you do, dont take judd! my class started with about 40 people, only 6 were left for to attempt the final. he has a crazy grading scale and is very bad at letting u know what to study for tests. hes a good person but trust me, you dont want this guy for a teacher!!

Judd is great! He takes the time to help you if you ask and he's always willing to meet with you during office hours. Class material semi-interesting and easy to learn if you pay attention. He gives a study guide before all the exams, so you know exactly what you need to focus on, it's VERY helpful.

Judd is probably one of the most helpful professors you will come across. He wants to ensure that you understand the material and reach your utmost potential so he makes himself available to the students, always. Map quizzes every week, not hard if you study the maps. Tests are difficult because they cover a lot, you gotta study!

Judd is a very nice person. His teaching style is quite unique in that he breaks down complex theories into a more understandable concepts. His tests are EXTREMELY tricky and difficult though. You must study very hard to get a B, and getting an A is not easy! He's helpful though,you must be on top of the readings and study at least 5-7 hrs a week.

As many have said he's very nice and helpful. He's just a little too difficult on his tests. You must study and write everything that comes out of his mouth because whatever you hear will be on test for sure. start the reading in advance if you want a good grade. This is no easy class, all sciece coursesss are hard.

Love this teacher! His passion for the subject helped me get into the subjects he taught. Its true that the class isnt easy but what Science class is? Taking specific notes, attending class, doing the work, and studying is critical to ensure a passing grade. Judd is ALWAYS willing to help via email or at his office if anyone asks for it. He rocks!

Judd was a well-organized, focused and detailed teacher--the best kind. I highly recommend him. He is demanding of his students, but you truly learn in his classes. I got an A and hardly studied outside of class; make sure you attend and understand the concepts, and you will easily get an A. Don't buy the book!!!!!! Tests are entirely off lectures.

Good teacher, i had a lot of fun in his class, and he will give you the best explaination to the knowledge. no home work is given by him, just study by yourself. he will give you grade just depen on your scores. i like his way to tech. but you should do your study. the grate will depend on what kind of work you devote on it.

He is excited to teach, which makes class more interesting. No need to buy the book, he has great powerpoints. You need some time for studying for tests, & watch out for map quizes they sneak up on you. Most of his classes time flies by, but that may be because I find the material intresting. I recommend him.

He is very excited about teaching. Helpful if you ask for help, responds well to emails. Easy class interesting subject material if you are even remotely interested in California. Pay attention in class, study his test "primer" and you'll get an A.

Definitely loves the subject and knows what he's teaching. Sometimes he can get a little awkward and seem like a lunatic but overall he does a good job.

He expects students to do a lot of work and understand everything he is talking about. Clearly has no life to set up the things to do for our labs. He thinks he is really funny and can be really rude if you do not get material.

(Intro to GIS) The first half of the class was usually a lecture and the second half was time to work on our homework assignments or learn on the computer. Dont try to add the class if youre on the waitlist. He's clear, a little nerdy-funny. Best tip: stay after class if you're on a roll with your lab because he stays to help you 1 on 1

Very slow-paced class, kinda bored me. He always asks questions from the whole class and waits until someone answers. Tests are on lecture notes. Do not buy the book-you don't need it at all. Map quizzes are hard but not worth that much. Also has open note pop quizzes which are also worth not that much.

He is very smart, but this class is just hard. The labs you do each day are worth half your grade and you do them everyday with a new group, so pray you get a smart group. Tests are hard, but you get to use your labs. He is very geeky cute! You cannot miss class because you cannot make up your labs.

He is quite funny and humored teacher. He is a really good teacher who care about the students, but he never finished the material in the exam handout. The exam is not easy. you have to take time to study all note taking in the class. You couldn't miss any class. Overall he is a good.

This class is a bit on the hard side, only because there is no cushion. No curve, no extra cred. So once a bad grade hits you, it stays. He's a really fun guy and keeps a lot of the material interesting. So unless you study religiously, you might want to consider skipping this for the sake of your GPA. Really nice guy though!

Cannot miss a class and must take detailed notes. Book is useless. He is passionate and knows his stuff. I recommend doing the review ?s before each test. I attended every class, studied before each test, did well on the 6 quizzes, and barely got a B- but it's worth it cuz you learn a lot. And he's funny and animated.

YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION! The class is not hard as long as your their everyday and pay attention! If your lost from the beginning, you will be lost the rest of the semester! LOVED this class. Curran has such enthusiasm for the subject, which made the class so interesting and kept me so engaged. Attendance mandatory, class is solely based on your note taking. Make sure you know how to take good notes. You NEED to know material to do well on tests, recommend that you take the lab 121 with it. Make it SO much easier.

He was an amazing teacher, way better than others in the department. Lectures were interesting and 100% what was on the test. He will drop students who exceed the allowed amount of absences, but overall was a simple class with clear expectations. He is totally willing to work with students too. Professor Curran is a very interesting fellow and his wittiness kept the class entertaining. The material doesn't seem hard, but you definitely have to study for the exams. Overall, your average college course, so if you're looking for an easy A, college (and this class) probably isn't meant for you.

Overall, Judd is a really nice guy. However, this class is really hard. I've never worked so hard for a B- in my life, and I had one of the highest grades in the class. I'm not dumb either,I have an overall gpa of 3.5 There is just a lot of information that is covered and a lot of little assignments/quizzes. Be prepared to dedicate tons of time.

I don't understand what is up with the comments about this teacher's clarity and difficulty level. He makes things very obvious, and he provides all of the handouts you could need which only require you to fill in the blanks. It seems as though the negative comments are only coming from lazy students who are just trying to skate through college.

Gives lots of handouts, that are in order with his lecture, and are just fill in the blank. His lectures are very entertaining, and actually made me have an interest in it. But,there is a substantial amount of work. You have to read a book, memorize different parts of california, and take three exams on his lectures.

Judd is the kind of teacher that makes college interesting. If you ever need help, go talk to him. 3 tests are 50-60 Qs, short answer and essay. Previous essays are in his office. Participation and reading are required for the novel, but it's a very interesting book. Take good notes; tests are from the lectures. Quizzes require memorizing CA geog.

This was an awesome class - cool topics like storms, earthquakes, climate. Totally interesting and fun. Judd is one of the best teachers I've had in college. Clear, fair, reasonable, gives some extra credit too!

Totally fun class. The stuff you learn is really cool -- hurricanes, climate change, how the earth works. Its totally relevant no matter what your major is.

Super fun class. I learned so much about Cali! There was cool topics like CA earthquake faults, weather, and interesting places. Tests are easy if you follow the study guide and take notes in class. The teach is funny and he knows so much! He really cares about students too.

He is quite passionate about geography, especially on California's. This class doubles as a physical science/geography class, and his lectures are amazing. He's clear on homework, and gives lots of extra credit opportunities. I would definitely take him again if I could.

Anyone complaining about Judd is exaggerating. So far he has provided 15 PERCENT of extra credit. THIS IS HUGE! All of his tests are REVIEWED on his website, and the answers are in the study center. If you fail this class it is because you're lazy, or you're blatantly trying to fail. The content isn't easy, but Judd makes the most of the material.

This was a really great class overall! You'll learn a lot about California while listening to really informative and entertaining lectures. All materials are provided in class, exams are not overwhelming, a good mix of multiple choice and written work. Great professor who really cares about his students' success.

This class essentially just teaches you how to use GIS software, mostly ArcGIS. I had no prior knowledge of this stuff and did great: Judd and Mark were great, hands-on and super chill. As long as you have a basic idea of how to use a computer, this class should be a breeze. The things you learn in this class are valuable for any field.

He is a great professor but you need to work hard for your grade he will help you but the majority will be based on your work.

I loved Judd I'm going to miss this class. He gave amazing lectures. He was really clear when delivering information. He gives enough preparation to each quiz and exam. As well as study guides. You do need to take initiative in studying the information and paying attention or you might not get the concepts. The text book isn't required.

Judd is a great professor and I'd 11/10 take him again. Gives sizable extra credit opportunities and has clear, informative lectures. If you're willing to put in the effort and time, you'll pass, which includes showing up to each class and paying attention- not an easy A for slackers. Most of the students in class are lost. Yes, he is an upbeat professor and is extremely passionate about geography, but the topics can be quite confusing and overwhelming for an introductory class. I am a straight A student and had a difficult time. He sets a curve to grades-tests, assignments, and overall grade and now I understand why.

Judd is a very kind caring and well-spoken professor. He is very lenient with late work and making up missed tests or quizzes. There is a weekly hw that is due every Tuesday. This class is very chilled and relaxed and you can tell Judd is very passionate in his teachings. I highly reccomend taking this course. There are 4 exams do study for them.

If you're looking for an Easy A, don't take him. His syllabus and grading system is clear and he's really organized with how the class runs. LOTS of extra credit so if you bomb the exams, you can do a map quiz that you need to study for. If I didn't do the EC I would have ended up with a B. Really nice professor though, but definitely not easy.

Everyone should take Geog 120 with Prof Curran. He cares passionately about his students and is very helpful and nice. His lectures are totally interesting and he is funny too. There is no textbook costs, and theres a cool Geog study center where you can get help from tutors that really know the material on the exams. This was my favorite class.

I loved his class. You dont have to get the text book because he pretty much explains everything during his Zoom lectures. He does make you work but not that much and if you pay attention during his class everything is going to be easy. In his exams you can have a "cheat paper" and he even gives you points for it

Judd was very passionate about what he taught during lectures. Lectures were packed with information necessary for exams so make sure to pay attention and fill out the handouts he gives out. The exams are not hard as long as you understand everything he includes in the exam outlines/primers. If you don't understand, just ask! Very easy to talk to.

I am so worried about climate change and why the world is so screwed up. This class reveals the underlying reasons why things are so hard and it doesn't have to be this way. I learned so much about how the world works and why there are so many problems. This class was fascinating, and professor Curran is reasonable. I just signed up to take a different class from Curran next semester. The course is so easy to navigate. It is organized and not overwhelming. It is obvious that professor Curran cares about students.

Def my favorite class ! Global issues is something everybody should take at least once. Very detailed and informed lectures in which you will not get bored. Prepare for watching long videos and you're allowed 1 sheet of note paper for the exams. He is very understanding and lenient. Great and knowledgeable professor !

Judd Curran's GEO101 class is a must-take! He makes global issues engaging with detailed, informed lectures. Prepare for long videos, but Curran is understanding. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for exam prep alongside the free textbook.

Great teacher! Has awesome lectures and cares for his students. The assignments for this class are pretty straight forward and if you need more time on an assignment he'll give it to you. Attendance is mandatory and vital to do well on the exams. Only default is the grades are locked but other than that I highly recommend this class!

Prof Curran's in person Geog 120 is awesome! I had no idea how interesting geography was. He made the class fun. He is reasonable, flexible, cares about you, and wants you to do well. It is so much better to take the class in person. I'm sick of online classes where everybody cheats and you never learn anything. This class is real.

Finally a teacher at Grossmont that is reasonable. He cares about students and will help you do well. He doesn't talk down to you or judge you. He goes out of his way to give you support. He listens, and treats you like you matter. Prof Curran is the best I have had at Grossmont.

He is easy to understand. He cares about students. Global Issues course goes over the reasons why everything is so messed up in the world and how it doesn't have to be this way. I learned so much and I recommend every student take his class.

Professor Judd is very sweet! Easy A def! 3 exams all online, a few quizzes that are a little time-consuming but easy! There are a few extra credit opportunities provided. His lectures were a little boring and repetitive at times, but overall doable. He is very nice! BUT he has grades disabled ALL semester. I still would definitely recommend.
